Watford struggling to break down the League One playoff winners is it?

imago, Saturday, 9 August 2025 12:33 (eight months ago)

There we go, good point for Hull this

baka mitai guy (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 9 August 2025 13:23 (eight months ago)

Stick that in your TV show

LocalGarda, Saturday, 9 August 2025 13:30 (eight months ago)

oh, good, Wrexham are losing. And my football bets haven't been tanked by early kick offs. Oh and my lot are looking like genuine title contenders albeit after printing some serious fucking money type squad investment in the last month!

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Saturday, 9 August 2025 13:32 (eight months ago)

glad the thread title has been sorted. fuck yeah 24/25 was horrendous, and the football was shit as well.

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Saturday, 9 August 2025 13:41 (eight months ago)

because Exeter have gone 2-0 up and Town have already won, I just need Orient and Rotherham to win to pocket £400, but alas it's a tall order.

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Saturday, 9 August 2025 14:17 (eight months ago)

Orient have gone 1-0 up, lol need to go out before I start torturing myself over cash out offers

baka mitai guy (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 9 August 2025 14:21 (eight months ago)

I think that might be good advice.

Tim, Saturday, 9 August 2025 15:43 (eight months ago)

Oh shit the best offer was £45 and I was holding out for 50 until Rotherham went behind

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Saturday, 9 August 2025 15:54 (eight months ago)

Boo. In contrast, my mate who bets on us winning every game 4-1 should be having a good night.

Tim, Saturday, 9 August 2025 16:15 (eight months ago)

I put Exeter on my accs for last 2 weeks, because wrongly or rightly I have them in the "always start strong" column.

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Saturday, 9 August 2025 16:21 (eight months ago)

Yeah that’s been true the last few seasons, but not as true as “have suffered nightmarish mid season collapse”.

90/1 he got, apparently.

Tim, Saturday, 9 August 2025 16:34 (eight months ago)

Philogene seems far too good to be playing at this level.

ShariVari, Friday, 12 September 2025 20:27 (seven months ago)

While that's probably true, Sheff U seem holed below the waterline (at least until we show up next weekend)

imago, Friday, 12 September 2025 20:30 (seven months ago)

Re Philogene you would not believe the amount of our supporters who have (until now) been bemoaning what a waste of money he has been.

Some good looking goals and finally a win again, but we had a lot of help for sure.

Chewshabadoo, Friday, 12 September 2025 22:33 (seven months ago)

getting long 90's vibes from this morning's, not just big, but actually bloody huge derby matches. Going to have exercise some restraint in not getting the tinnies out too early!

nxd, Sunday, 28 September 2025 09:34 (seven months ago)

I can't stand football at the moment. Our grotesque US owner is making a visit to the stadium an indulgence for only the better off middle income fans. A very expensive team has been put together that play like plucky underdogs with a soft as shit defence. I fucking hate them tbh.

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Sunday, 28 September 2025 10:01 (seven months ago)

I hated them plenty when they stuffed us 1-0 yesterday. Should probably have been 6-1, carved us open repeatedly. They did seem a bit like they didn’t much care, though, and we could have sneaked a point at the end.

Seems likely we’re doomed this year, it’s no surprise we can’t live with the likes of Huddersfield financially but it looks like all the shitkickers we expect to scrap it out with are spending money they can never hope to get back. Sorry, I mean “have found good owners to invest in the club”.

Tim, Sunday, 28 September 2025 18:26 (seven months ago)

you could have easily got an equaliser yesterday. Too early for "doomed"!

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Sunday, 28 September 2025 18:32 (seven months ago)

We might scrape something together but we don’t have much to base any hope on this time around.

Tim, Sunday, 28 September 2025 18:43 (seven months ago)

imago, Tuesday, 30 September 2025 19:53 (seven months ago)

51' | It's an indirect free kick for Hemel Hempstead for a pass back.

It finds its way into the back of the net, but it's ruled out and will be retaken.

53' | Goal. Hemel score from the indirect free kick.

The actual definition of FOR FUCK SAKE in the dictionary.

imago, Tuesday, 21 October 2025 21:37 (six months ago)

I've seen some bad refereeing performances but tonight was genuinely baffling. Sent a player off then changed his mind and only booked him before the penalty (which was a clean tackle) was taken. Booked 11 players, but not for the games only actual bad tackle or for a petulant revenge kick out of the ball - both of which he gave a free kick for so he must have seen them. Then he sent their manager off, apparently for telling their left back to take a throw in.

Overtoun House windows (aldo), Tuesday, 21 October 2025 22:19 (six months ago)

Ah apparently he said "get up you poof". To his own player.

Overtoun House windows (aldo), Tuesday, 21 October 2025 22:27 (six months ago)

I was too dejected after watching Ipswich lose 3-0 to want to pay any more attention to football last night and just watched the video of the manager getting sent off, what a wild decision - was not intentional and immediately apologised which looked to be taken in good grace?

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Saturday, 25 October 2025 10:51 (six months ago)

I know too many Wednesday fans to really hate them. Think most of them would take any points deduction as a swap for losing Dejphon

Rory DelayRepay (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 25 October 2025 10:54 (six months ago)

they've long been entirely unsympathetic to our various plights and they've also long dodged justice (including a points deduction that would have saved us from going down) and their fans always act like entitled cocks whenever they visit us (less so a couple of weeks ago tbf given how little they have to shout about) so my sympathy is pretty absent in this case, even if nepo kid owners cluelessly using clubs like playthings are scum

A club I’m proud to join. At least our record defeat isn’t to the Cobblers any more.

That was obviously sub-optimal in many ways but weirdly we didn’t play too badly by our standards! Turns out the Man City first team are rather good. Worst thing about the weekend was being called a top team by Liam Gallagher.

calzino, Sunday, 18 January 2026 18:28 (three months ago)

after enduring months of turgid football, have just witnessed Town dish out two absolute textbook 1-0 arseholings, in both of which they were down to 10 and still managed to dominate both games. The Alfie May straight red last night was preposterous, his hand just basically made some glancing contact with Kasey Palmer's dreads. Then Ryan Ledson, who won't score many goals in his career, scores an incredible winner from behind the halfway line. Entertainment is back!

calzino, Wednesday, 28 January 2026 08:59 (three months ago)

How sad to see Alfie May on the wrong end of unjust decisions. It must sorely test his usual none-more-sporting Corinthian ideals.

We too have been on our best run of form for years, before last night we were six behind you with a game in hand, implausibly eyeing a bid for the play-offs. On the other hand our finances are sufficiently screwed that there’s talk of a £1m+ cut to our playing budget next year unless something happens like a player sale. We already have the lowest playing budget in the division apparently.

Tim, Wednesday, 28 January 2026 09:52 (three months ago)

I mean if we scraped the play-offs and went up it would probably solve our financial woes for a year or two but we’d likely achieve a record low points score in the champo

Tim, Wednesday, 28 January 2026 09:53 (three months ago)

would you swap that position for having some nauseating seppo billionaire pouring money into your club? It's been pretty crap for my club so far and even if it does work out, all the laissez-faire Yankification going on in the UK, even beyond football club ownership - just fills me with dread.

calzino, Wednesday, 28 January 2026 10:14 (three months ago)

I dunno - when literally the whole of the league apart from us appears to be able to run at massive losses, and doesn’t show any sign of changing, being an example of doing it differently gets a bit wearing after a while. I’m proud of being fan owned but currently I’m not sure what good it’s doing us apart from a feeling of self-righteousness. It’s been very good overall but it’s probably not forever. So how do we know when the time is up?

Tim, Wednesday, 28 January 2026 17:49 (three months ago)

I think I can finally breathe a little.

Come Saturday we'll have played 18 games in 52 days. Never mind the players, I feel like I've been at a match every other day.

And tonight we pulled out of the bottom 4 for the first time. Win on Saturday against Peterborough (already relegated and lost 8-0 on Saturday) and we stay up. Curzon and Alfreton play each other so only one of them could go above us if we don't win. And Kings Lynn go to Chester. who needs a win to stay in the playoffs.

Talking of which, Kings Lynn hired Caddis after we sacked him and he's taken them from the brink of the playoffs to the brink of relegation. That's some new manager bounce. (Notwithstanding the league still have to punish KL for the sprinkler scandal.)

Just got home. Too pissed to write properly.

Never want another afternoon like this one. When they went ahead, and then when Mikey Lane broke through and pulled his shot just wide of the post I thought that was it.

I kept telling all the people round me to trust the Jock with the calculations over league positions and permutations but they weren't overly sure. And invading the pitch when Curzon was not only just pulled level but were still playing (and a late Curzon winner would have put us down) was pretty reckless.

But seeing Harry Pell half naked jumping on the (very weak) flat roof swirling his shirt round his head kind of made us forget how painful it had been.

We were 11 points from safety at the beginning of the month.

Heart goes out to Portishead, who have been relegated despite finishing second on 95 points due to a dispute with the league over the completion date for their new stand.

The FA granted them an extension from March to August about 10 weeks ago, but rescinded it today with no right to appeal.

Cunts.
