the life and times of super mario balotelli

The Italian was speaking after being named the best young player in Europe and winning the Golden Boy trophy, organised by the Turin newspaper Tuttosport and voted for by European journalists to honour the most talented player under the age of 21. The 20-year-old beat the 18-year-old Wilshere into second place, before claiming that he did not know who the Arsenal midfielder is.

"What's his name? Wil ... ? No, I don't know him, but the next time I play against Arsenal I will keep a close eye on him," Balotelli said. "Perhaps I can show him the Golden Boy trophy and remind him that I won it."

The Italian then had a dig at previous winners of the award, including Arsenal's Fábregas, Manchester United's Rooney and Rafael van der Vaart, now with Tottenham, insisting only a single past recipient could claim to be a better player than him. "There's only one that is a little stronger than me: Messi. All the others are behind me."

And the supremely confident ex-Inter Milan youngster took aim at the misfiring United marksman, stating Rooney is not the best forward in town anymore, suggesting United fans would love to have him in their side.

‘Do United fans insult me?’ said Balotelli. ‘No, they stop me in the street and say "Mario, come to us."

‘He [Rooney] is a very good player but not the best in Manchester.

‘Our attack of Balotelli-Tevez-Dzeko is the best in the world - better even than Barcelona and Real Madrid. We are the strongest and we can win things now - we just lack conviction.’

Mario Balotelli's injury-and-questionable-sanity-related failure to truly become a star of the global game so far has not stopped him developing a fascination for things stellar, with the Italian having recently bought a telescope. "Mario relaxes at home by sitting on his balcony and looking into the night sky," said "a source". "He finds it peaceful and wants to learn about all the stars."

Dzeko's been hugely disappointing, but I'm inclined to give him time because most strikers do need time to adjust - Silva or Suarez are most unusual.

The Italy international believes his antics would come to an end though, if he had the chance to meet Ronaldo.

Speaking on Italian TV, he said: “If you introduce me to Ronaldo, I swear I’ll behave until I give up playing football.

“I have never met him, but when you see the idol of a lifetime it can change you. It can change your way of being.

"I don’t know how I can explain it. There are many great players, but Ronaldo was the greatest and so one word from him is worth more than a thousand of all the others.”

Balotelli does not believe it will take much to sort out his problems, and has reasurred his fans that he plans to stay at City for the foreseeable future.
He continued: "In any case, I already behave myself fairly well, but I’ll try to stop doing those stupid little things, but these things happen.

“You’ll soon see the real Mario on the field!

"I have a five-year contract at Manchester - where am I going?

“I’d buy a house in Naples

MARIO BALOTELLI should get a Heart of Gold from ESTHER RANTZEN.

The Manchester City star helped a young autograph hunter being picked on at school - by confronting the bully himself.

The striker questioned why the young lad was playing truant with his mum outside the club's Carrington training ground rather than attending school.

After the fan revealed that he was being bullied, Mario drove the youngster and his mum over to the school in question and demanded a meeting with the headteacher.

The Blues ace got the youngster to confess what had been happening and made him identify the culprit. The lads eventually shook hands before Mario got into his white Maserati and sped off.

A source said: "Mario feels strongly about bullying and thinks it's out of order.

"He had no qualms about sorting the mess out as he felt the lad should not be missing out on school."

GENEROUS soccer star Mario Balotelli gave £1,000 to a tramp outside a casino - after a whopping £25,000 win.

The Manchester City striker, 20, shared his windfall on a night out with Blackburn Rovers ace Chris Samba.

Balotelli - who earns £100,000 a week after signing from Inter Milan for £24million last year - is said to often give cash to homeless people he sees around Manchester. His latest act of kindness came outside the city's 235 Casino last week.

A source said: "Mario is really generous. He always hands £20 notes to the Big Issue boys without even taking the magazine. There's a guy he always sees around town with ginger dreadlocks and a beard. He carries his possessions in two carrier bags.

"He was outside the club in the early hours so Mario handed him a wad of notes after his big win. The tramp couldn't believe his luck. It was enough to keep him going for months."

MARIO BALOTELLI was spotted yesterday giving a facial to Mary Magdalene outside the Chorlton branch of Costcutter.

Scriptural waif Magdalene, 2043, had gone to the discount retailer to purchase some cigarette papers and tonic wine when the Italian bad boy passed by in his Maserati.

A passerby said "it was unbelievable. He offered to give her a lift home, and in gratitude she just blew him there and then."

"Everyone knows Mario has a heart of gold but he will be extra delighted to have left his seminal imprimatur on a genuine legend of Christianity."

no xmas for jonchaies (nakhchivan), Tuesday, 10 May 2011 11:39 (fourteen years ago)

There was also this from The Mirror yesterday:

Yet another eyewitness report of Mario Balotelli's pulling style, as witnessed at top Manchester eaterie San Carlo: "He was in there eating as usual, and some superfit WAG wannabe walked in. He yelled ‘Hey!’ at her, food tumbling from his open mouth… but, of course, she trots straight over. He didn’t say a word – he just handed his phone so that she could input her number."

Mancini, who argued with Balotelli as the forward left the pitch after 31 minutes, insisted that the striker he used to manage at Inter Milan knew he was not offside.

"Mario needs to understand his behaviour has to be good in every game - not just in a final or a semi-final but every game.

"He knows he made a mistake. Football should always be serious and if you have a chance to score, you should score.

Anti-mafia investigators in Italy want to interview Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli over a visit he made to a known mafia hot spot in Naples.

Prosecutors say they want to interview him over possible contacts he may have had unwittingly with the Neapolitan mafia, the Camorra, last year.

“If we want to talk about Mario the football player we can put him in the first five players in the world,” Mancini said after the game.

“I don't know what happened apart from he lives in a hotel now. I hope for him and for football that Mario can change his mind. After this, he can become one of the best players in the world like Messi and Ronaldo.

“The problem is because of his age he can make some mistakes. He's Mario. He's crazy – but I love him because he's a good guy.”

She recalls: "He gifted us with his presence and his smile and my mother Antoinetta said to me, 'You've really picked a good one, Raffaella'.

"On the second day, he took me shopping to cheer me up. We went past Louis Vuitton and he said, 'Choose something' but I said no, because I didn't love him for his money.

"He left after two days and my mother gave me a package he had left. It was a bucket bag from Louis Vuitton and that's when I knew that he loved me and wanted to make me happy."

Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli surprised students at a school when he walked in and asked to use the toilet.
Balotelli, 21, apparently parked his Bentley outside Xaverian College, Manchester, on Thursday lunchtime.
He used the toilet before talking to students in the canteen and walking into the teachers' staff room.
A college spokesman told the Manchester Evening News: "Xaverian was delighted to receive a surprise visit from Mario who chatted to some of the students."
Student Edward Gasson, 18, was sitting in the canteen with friends when Balotelli walked in.
He commented: "Balotelli parked his Bentley outside then came in and was asking where the toilets were, then he went to the teachers' staff room.
"After that he was just walking round campus like he owned the place and everyone was following him around.
"I'm a City fan so it was amazing to see him but it was a bit ridiculous for him to come here - you would never expect it to happen."

the way balotelli moves looks like a forward in trequartista system or a central attacking triangle like milans

he doesnt go in for sprints but sort of breaks inside-left, or moves about between the lines expecting others to make runs into the box

difficult to describe but he looks like a very italian player who doesnt create or need to play at pace or with expansive 'natural width' but rather an array of passing options nearby

"Although I would have preferred not to speak about my private life in public, I feel obliged to clarify, once and for all, my relationship with Raffaella Fico," the 21-year-old explained.

"Our relationship ended at the start of April and since then we have not met, nor heard from one another.

"I have not had anything to do with her life and Raffaella has not had anything to do with my life.

"Raffaella knows well that since we parted company with one another that I had, and have, no intention of returning to her.

"But because of what there was between us, I never wanted to talk about it, even when there were untrue things being said and written about us.

"A few days ago I came to learn from others that Raffaella was pregnant. For this reason, I decided to contact her and only after my question was it confirmed to me that it was true.

"I am very disappointed. I do not think it's normal not to know anything until the fourth month [of the pregnancy].

"I do not understand why she did not contact me immediately to tell me something of such importance.

"I'll assume all my responsibilities when I have the proof of my paternity."

Balotelli continued: "Also, it annoys me to see that she has already sought to make money from this story by selling photos and interviews.

"I think that Rafaella is already famous enough not to have to take advantage of this story for publicity purposes.

"This is the first and only time I will discuss this topic in public and so I have no intention of replying independently to what is said or written by Raffaella."
