In 2007, he released his autobiography, "Transformed", which was co-written by Peter Jeffs.[71] The book received generally positive reviews: Christianity Magazine said the book was a "disarmingly honest account of Primus’s triumphs and struggles on and off the pitch"[72] while FourFourTwo described it as "an antidote to the 'me-me-me' tales that weigh down the shelves"[73] but rival football magazine When Saturday Comes was more critical, pointing out its "sometimes ungrammatical and often ponderous style" and going on to say "[the] book is also full of cliches".[74]

In the early hours of 12 November, Windass and team-mate Marlon King fought in a casino in Scarborough, with King reported to have headbutted Windass.[39] In the following days, the club said the argument had been settled internally and both players allowed to stay with Hull.[40] Windass had to wait till 22 November 2008 to make another Premier League appearance for City, coming on as a substitute against Portsmouth with Hull trailing 2–1. Windass claimed the goal that earned Hull City a draw, with a header from a corner that deflected off defender Noé Pamarot and into the net. This was officially recorded as an own goal at the time, but was later awarded to Windass after a review by the Dubious Goals Committee.[2][41] In a radio interview after the game, Windass described the casino incident as a "storm in a teacup".

Six months under Meho Kodro
After Meho Kodro replaced Muzurović as head coach in early January 2008, one of the changes he introduced was stripping Misimović of the captain's armband and awarding it to 27-year-old defender Emir Spahić who had just returned to the national team after boycotting it since fall 2006. On 8 April 2008, Misimović (then still only 25 years old) announced his retirement from the national team, citing stating health concerns as he no longer felt able to keep up the physical rigors of playing for both club and country.[13] However, many speculated that health had little to do with Misimović's sudden announcement. These suspicions were seemingly confirmed two days later by Bosnian national team general manager Elvir Bolić who hinted that Misimović might have softened his original stance and revealed that head coach Meho Kodro would travel to Germany to visit the player personally and discuss the "real reasons" for his decision.[14] On 12 April 2008, after speaking to Kodro, Misimović changed his mind and the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina (NSBiH) announced that he had decided to continue his international career.[15][16]

On 7 December 2006, tabloid newspaper The Sun reported Alnwick, along with team-mates Chris Brown and Liam Lawrence had filmed themselves in an orgy with a brunette girl referred to as 'Stevie'. In the video, Brown films his team-mates perform sexual acts on the girl as well as themselves, and is said to give "Match of the Day" style commentary throughout. Former Sunderland midfielder Martin Woods also features on the tape partially clothed, along with two other men. In reference to the watching men, Brown reportedly comments “Here’s the boys — the watching faithful — every week without fail.”[19]
On 8 December, The Sun reported that the girl in the video was just 16 years old, with the girl claiming she had no idea she was being filmed.[20]

Fans' reactions
The decision left many Liverpool fans in shock and anger because they believed McManaman refused to comment earlier on his decision because he waited until he was sure Real Madrid would sign him, stalled on contract talks, and toyed with the fans with his statements,[100] while McManaman claimed he took so long to comment because he was "torn over deciding to leave the magnificent fans."[101] Liverpool fans however, remained split over McManaman's actions, with groups claiming that since he said he always wanted to play overseas, it demonstrated that he had already made up his mind much earlier to leave at the end of his contract, and should have declared that truth, instead of fearing losing his "idol" status with them and constantly claiming to want to sign an extension; thereby misleading the club.[102]
Other Liverpool fans claimed they understood McManaman was in a dilemma because they knew he really wanted to go abroad as he hinted at it since 1996, yet wanted to stay because of sentiment, but because the club tried to sell him off first, McManaman then swayed to change his mind about feeling guilty regarding walking out on the club, and rejected all new contract offers whilst claiming legitimately he was in a dilemma- an act that if true, left fans feeling it was still not the right way to do things even if the club acted poorly as well.[103]
The final fan view; the most predominant view,[104] is an amalgam of the other two views, but begins with the different premise that McManaman might not have concretely decided to play abroad before 1998, nor did he necessarily want to do a Bosman. It does however believe the inevitable reality that saw him refuse to sign a new Liverpool contract was linked to the fact that he publicly felt the club did not pay him the wage he felt he deserved (he had accepted Roy Evans' offers but this was not sanctioned by the board and McManaman rejected their offers), and that this was also consistent with his own statements where he said he felt he had been playing good football[105] while the club had not been playing well nor at the highest level of the Champions' league and he needed to test himself with the best.[106] The club then decided to cash in on him when offers came in (with Barcelona), knowing he was not going to easily accept a deal from them (as he was rated highly) and needed a big wage, and all this while he was also inclined to go overseas; leaving on a free if he had to. In this respect, the club genuinely betrayed McManaman by selling him early but not without legitimate grounds for doing so, and McManaman had also betrayed the club by believing he was better than the club, but not without legitimate grounds for leaving as he did see out his contract, did serve the club for a decade, and also was sold by the club first. When the Barcelona deal collapsed, the club's trading image looked awkward and the club had no choice but to change their approach to McManaman and turn down Juventus to make up for this, but by then it was too late to reconcile affairs with McManaman, who by this time had made himself to look like the innocent party by telling fans he never said he wanted to leave. In this way, McManaman was at fault because he never signed, and simply added up all the factors and decided to take the chance to leave by late 1998, hence the talks with Madrid. He then had a gentleman's agreement with Houllier about leaving before Houllier's continental revolution began, which would have seen the Spice Boys cleared out anyway. Today, many Liverpool fans consider this the most popular view, and this leaves many fans feeling McManaman acted in a self-interested manner even though both club and player were at fault for the whole mess,[107] and many Liverpool fans remain split till this day over McManaman's departure and the whole contract saga affair.Final games
Whatever the fans' views, the facts remained that in McManaman's final games for the club in the second half of the 1998–99 season, he began turning in mixed performances, with the media accusing him of playing out his final season in a "desultory manner".[108] His form dipped at times, arguably due to a combination of injuries, being restricted to substitute appearances (as Houllier wanted to cut the side's dependency on his gameplay and replace him[2]), and loss of confidence in certain games where even the home fans turned against him over the contract debacle, with some labelling him a 'traitor' and a Judas figure.[109] McManaman told the media after one such game where he became victim of the "boo boys", saying: "That's understandable, when I came off the other day I knew the reaction there was going to be. But I think if they put themselves in the same predicament, and the fact that I have been at Liverpool for 12 years and that I would like to test myself in a foreign country, that's understandable." [110]
McManaman also suffered personal tragedy when his mother Irene, who was bedridden with breast cancer for two years, died during this time.[111]
The combination of these factors meant McManaman suffered a loss of form, but, McManaman managed to rally and pick up his play right at the end of that last campaign. McManaman scored a crucial goal away at Blackburn Rovers, set up a dramatic injury time equaliser with a through ball for Paul Ince to score in front of the Kop against Manchester United,[112] and scored the winner from outside the area with a half volley to complete the full turn around result against Tottenham Hotspur, after trailing 2 – 0 at half time.[113] In fitting fashion, in what was the final match of the season, and what would be McManaman's final match and final contribution on the pitch for the club, McManaman assisted Karl-Heinz Riedle with a goal at the Kop with a trademark right wing run and pull back as Liverpool won 3–0 against Wimbledon, enabling McManaman to end his career at the club to a standing ovation, a lap of honour at Anfield,[114] and a two row squad farewell at the entrace of the players' tunnel.[115]

In popular culture, a shot bouncing off the crossbar and hitting the line is referred to as a "Geoff Hurst style shot" if no goal is given, or a "Geoff Hurst style goal". An example of that is David Trezeguet (of Juventus's) penalty against Italy in the 2006 FIFA World Cup Final when it went to penalties. As he shot, the ball smacked the bar, and in similar circumstances it was not clear if it crossed the line.

On 17 October 2008, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported that Ljungberg might be a part of the new (at the time) Major League Soccer franchise Seattle Sounders FC. On 28 October 2008, Seattle Sounders officially announced they had signed Ljungberg as their Designated Player for the 2009 season. The terms of his contract saw Ljungberg earn $10 million over two seasons with the Sounders. Much like the contract of David Beckham and as is the norm for professional sports stars in the US, Ljungberg's contract will assure he keeps all of his private endorsement money.[29] Because of this, Grahame L. Jones of the Los Angeles Times was quick to compare Ljungberg with Beckham.[30] Alexi Lalas stated, "Eddie Vedder, I think, would have a better chance of making an impact at Seattle than Freddie Ljungberg".[31] However, after the 2009 regular season Lalas acknowledged his initial skepticism but admitted he had changed his mind. "For me he's the best DP signing, because of the way he plays in MLS." [32]
In December 2008, it was announced that Ljungberg would undergo surgery to repair a persistent hip injury that has plagued him throughout his later career. Surgeons repaired a slightly torn hip labrum and shaved a small amount of bone where the hip meets the femur to prevent future injury. The Seattle Times reported that Ljungberg was expected to miss 10–12 weeks of training and possibly be sidelined for the team's inaugural game, but he recovered from his hip injury sooner than expected. Although Ljungberg did not take part of Seattle's preseason in Argentina, he did however do light training with IS Halmia.[33]
Once the Sounders returned to Seattle, Ljungberg joined in training. Despite his speedy recovery, Ljungberg did not participate in the inaugural game against New York Red Bulls. He made his debut one week later on 28 March 2009, coming on as a 61st minute substitute in a 2–0 victory over Real Salt Lake. The following week he made his first start on 4 April 2009 against Toronto FC where he also scored his first MLS goal.[34] Ljungberg played his first full game against Chivas USA in Los Angeles in which they lost 2–0. While some noted that Fredy Montero and Ljungberg were not cohesive on the pitch due to Ljungberg's absence in the preseason and few practices with one other, coach Sigi Schmid answered, "That's just something that takes some time. But they're both quality players and it will get sorted out I think a lot sooner than later."[35]
Ljungberg missed two games against FC Dallas and Colorado Rapids due to a migraine attack. He quickly recovered to play against Chivas USA. On 30 May 2009, the Sounders drew their fifth match in a row, this time against the Columbus Crew, after Ljungberg missed a penalty kick in the 31st minute.[36] Ljungberg scored his second goal for the season against the San Jose Earthquakes on 13 June 2009 as a result of beating Joe Cannon to the ball, lofting it over him and into the center of the net. In the 59th minute, Ljungberg's corner kick set up Fredy Montero's goal which led the Sounders to a 2–0 victory.[37] After playing DC United, Ljungberg suffered from some hamstring tightness. Ljungberg did suit up for the New York Red Bull game on 20 June 2009, but he did not play as a result of the injury.[38] On 28 June, Ljungberg assisted Montero's 23rd minute goal against the Colorado Rapids. He was subbed out toward the end of the game, in which he received a standing ovation. Ljungberg sat out for the US Open Cup game against the USL Portland Timbers and focused on training during the July 4 week vacation. Following the brief holiday vacation, Seattle defeated Houston Dynamo, a game in which Ljungberg was heavily targeted and fouled. Despite this, Ljungberg out maneuvered his opponents and assisted a goal to Patrick Ianni. The Bleacher Report dubbed him the man of the match.[39]
During his 2009 season, the Daily Express noted rumors that Ljungberg was poised to return to a European club, but Ljungberg assured fans that he would stay to fulfill his two year contract. The Daily Express also noted that he might even extend his contract beyond 2010.[40]
In July 2009, Ljungberg was selected for starting MLS' All-Stars along with teammate Kasey Keller. Selection for the All-Star team is based upon votes from players, coaches, general managers, members of the media and an online fan voting system. Ljungberg received the most votes among fans, a testament to his popularity in the MLS. Ljungberg was also appointed captain of the 2009 MLS All-Star Team in their game versus Everton.
Due to receiving a red card in the previous game, Ljungberg was ineligible to play the next Seattle Sounders game. As a result, All-Star coach Dominic Kinnear played Ljungberg for a full 90 minutes. At the end of the game, Ljungberg started to have impaired vision. When the game went to penalty kicks, he chose to sit it out due to his loss of vision after an on-set migraine.[41] Unfortunately for Ljungberg, the initial 5 kicks ended in a draw. Kinnear, not fully understanding Ljungberg's condition, sent him out as the sixth kicker. Ljungberg, unable to see, took a chance and just tapped the ball in the center of net. However, Tim Howard caught it, resulting in Everton's win. Immediately following the game, Ljungberg was removed from the field on a stretcher. Later, Ljungberg told reporters that he ingested trace amount of red wine while in Utah, resulting in his second migraine within months.[42]

Magnus Hedman had an illustrious late career of not playing for numerous big clubs
In September 2006, he was rumoured to be making a sensational comeback at English FA Premier League club Newcastle United. According to himself he denied an offer from the club, citing it was too short of a contract to be interesting.[2] The club itself has denied ever contacting the goalkeeper. On 9 November 2006 it was announced that Hedman would join FA Premier League Champions Chelsea on a week's trial, due to Chelsea's current lack of fully fit goalkeepers except for Henrique Hilário and youth team keeper Yves Makalambay. The move was eventually completed on 14 November 2006, taking the No. 22 shirt previously worn by Eidur Gudjohnsen. Hedman has since been released from his contract, having made no official appearances for Chelsea. In November 2008 he claimed he was approached by Manchester City to provide back up following the injury to their current number 1 Joe Hart. Hedman began training with Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur on 5 January 2009, with a view to gaining a contract with Spurs until at least the end of the 2008–09 season, of which he did not achieve.

Return to Liverpool
Aquilani returned to Liverpool for pre-season training in preparation for the 2012-13 season, and after having a chat with new manager Brendan Rodgers. Rodgers stated that Aquilani is a good asset to the Liverpool midfield and that he has no plans to release Aquilani, as the player fits his style of play perfectly.[citation needed] Aquilani's agent also came out and spoke of how a deal to Milan was now "impossible" and confirmed that Aquilani would remain at Liverpool the for the 2012-13 season. He was named in the 34 man squad for Liverpool's pre-season tour of North America, and flew out with the rest of the squad on 16 July 2012. He started and played 45 minutes in Liverpool's first pre-season friendly match against Toronto F.C. , and subsequently impressed, achieving a pass completion rate of 97% on the 21 July 2012.

2010–11 season
He was included in Liverpool's 21-man squad for the 2010–11 Premier League season. Spearing started and played the full 90 minutes in the opening leg of Liverpool's UEFA Europa League qualifier against Rabotnicki, and came on as a substitute at Anfield in the second leg. On the 16th of September, he again played the full 90 minutes in the Reds' opening group game against Steaua Bucaresti, his first ever start at Anfield, setting up David N'Gog for the fourth and final goal as Liverpool won 4-1. On 22 September, he was involved in Liverpool's shock League Cup third round exit to League Two side Northampton Town; Liverpool losing 4-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw. On 21 October, he played the full 90 minutes in Liverpool's third group stage tie, a 0-0 draw with a Napoli side who have former Liverpool left-back Andrea Dossena. He was an unused substitute in Liverpool's 1-0 Premier League win against Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium on 31 October. Spearing came on in the 90th minute of Liverpool's 2-0 victory over Chelsea on 7 November 2010, instantly making an impact by playing a through ball to assist a Maxi Rodriguez effort. On 20 November, it was reported that Spearing had broken his ankle in training and would be out for up to six weeks. Spearing made his first appearance of 2011 against Everton on 16 January. In the post-match interview, Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish praised the young midfielder and joked that Steven Gerrard may never get into the first team again.[6] On 20 March, Spearing started another league game away to Sunderland. Spearing won a penalty, which was converted by Dirk Kuyt to put Liverpool 1-0 up and was generally praised for his great performance.
Spearing then went on the secure a first team berth with the absence of Steven Gerrard and out of favour Christian Poulsen. For the remnants of the Premier League season, he formed an excellent midfield partnership with the resurgent Lucas Leiva. Against Arsenal on the 17th of April, Spearing gave away a 98th minute penalty which Robin Van Persie scored to make the game 1-0. The match finished 1-1. Despite his involvement in the Arsenal goal, Spearing was praised after the game for his determination, work-rate and battling performance; traits that epitomised his successful run in the starting eleven. He received the journalists' MOTM award on the official Liverpool website 3 times during the season.
In May 2011 the club announced that he had extended his contract,[7] and as a result of wide critical acclaim for his sterling performances for Liverpool, Spearing was included in England U21's provisional 40-man-squad for the 2011 Summer U21 European Championship, with fellow Liverpool player Andy Carroll.[8]

Real Madrid
In 2001, Zidane joined Real Madrid for a then world record fee of 150 billion Italian lire.[24] (about €75 million[25]) and signed a four-year contract. He scored a famous match-winning goal, a volley hit with his weaker foot, in Madrid's 2–1 win over Bayer Leverkusen in the 2002 UEFA Champions League Final completing his personal quadruple. The next season, Zidane helped Real Madrid to win the 2002–03 La Liga and was named the FIFA World Player of the Year for the third time. In 2004, fans voted him as the best European footballer of the previous 50 years in UEFA's fiftieth-anniversary Golden Jubilee Poll.
While Zidane's final season of club football ended without a trophy, he enjoyed success on a personal note by scoring his first hat-trick against Sevilla FC in a 4–2 win in January 2006.[26] He ended the season for Real Madrid as their second highest goalscorer and assists provider behind team-mates Ronaldo and Beckham respectively, with 9 goals and 10 assists in 28 games.[27] On 7 May 2006, Zidane, who had announced his plans to retire after the 2006 World Cup,[28] played his last home match and scored in a 3–3 draw with Villarreal. The squad wore commemorative shirts with ZIDANE 2001–2006 below the club logo. He left Real Madrid at the end of the season.

Dog
Keane had a Labrador Retriever named Triggs, who died in 2010. Triggs came to international attention in 2002 during an incident ahead of the that year's FIFA World Cup when Keane engaged in a public quarrel and left the squad. Triggs accompanied Keane on regular walks pursued by the press.[94] The footballer said of Triggs, "Unlike humans, dogs don't talk shit".[95] The Daily Telegraph's Steve Wilson once described Triggs as "the most famous dog in football since Pickles, a mongrel who dug up the stolen Jules Rimet Trophy in 1966, or that dog that relieved itself on Jimmy Greaves at the 1962 World Cup".[96] Henry Winter, writing in the same paper, called Triggs "the fittest dog in Cheshire" and opined that "if Cruft's [sic] held an endurance event, Keane and Triggs would scoop gold".[97]
Following his rise to fame Triggs was mentioned by several sources on many occasions, with Keane dogged by numerous canine references for the remainder of his career.[98][99][100][101][102][103][104][105] In 2006, when Keane moved house to Sunderland, his reunion with Triggs, who joined him later, came to the notice of the press.[106] In 2007, Keane was reported to have heard of his team's promotion to the Premiership while walking Triggs.[107] The following year, Keane was said to have acquired a German Shepherd Dog named Izac to accompany Triggs.[108][109][110] Russell Brand observed the frequency with which Keane has been associated with his dogs, particularly when involved in the news – with quotes including "Keane will certainly have more time to walk his dogs", "The only real winners are Roy Keane's dogs", and "Roy Keane's dogs refused to comment on the situation" – before he googled "Roy Keane's dogs" only to discover it had more hits than "something with a lot of hits".[111]
In later life, Triggs was involved in a police investigation when his behaviour caused an argument between Keane and a neighbour.[112] He appeared in an Irish Guide Dogs advertisement in 2009 - whereupon the Irish Examiner referred to him as "football's biggest canine celebrity" -[113] and also received his own profile on Facebook.[112] Triggs was described as a "celebrity" and a "household name" upon erroneous reports of her death from cancer in September 2010.[94][112] Keane was described as "inconsolable".[112] The Irish Examiner's obituary noted how "At critical moments when the nation's happiness seemed entwined with Roy's moods, he turned to his Labrador Triggs and took to the road".[114]

With great performances and the big identification with the Vasco da Gama's fans, Dedé won the fans several nicknames: "O Mito" ("The Myth"), "Dedéckenbauer" and even "Dedélícia" ("Dedélicious", by female fans). Dedé has become one of the great idols of the Vasco da Gama in the 21st Century, turning up the campaign poster boy "Marco1924" (promotional clock that celebrates the victory of Vasco da Gama against racism in football), along with Fernando Prass.[1][2][3][4] On July 11, was elected by SBT and a popular vote as one of the 100 greatest Brazilians of all time.[5]

Holdsworth appeared in reality television series Deadline where ten celebrities had to produce their own weekly celebrity magazine. He was the sixth celebrity to be sacked by Janet Street-Porter. He also participated in the second series of Sky1 reality TV series Cirque de Celebrité. He was voted out by the judges in the first episode on 7 October 2007. Tamara (another contestant) joined him in the bottom two, but was voted to stay in the competition by the three judges. However, because of a technical fault with the voting, Dean was asked to re-join the show.
Holdsworth remarried Susanna Cobham and they live in Droitwich Spa, Worcestershire. Holdsworth is also father to sons Bradly and Jordan.

International career
Following his impressive performances when at Palermo, Amauri was suggested to be a potential call-up of the then Azzurri coach Roberto Donadoni, who stated he might be interested in calling him to the Italian squad.[33] Amauri, who has not appeared at international level for the Brazilian team, would have been indeed eligible in the future to play for the Italian national team[34] because he was eligible to acquire Italian nationality by marriage to a Brazilian-Italian woman; however, according to Italian law Amauri was forced to wait for at least one year from the day of the proclamation of his wife as an Italian citizen, which did not happen before April 2009.
On 31 January 2009, Brazilian coach Dunga selected Amauri, who was still ineligible to play for Italy at the time, as a replacement for the injured Luís Fabiano in an international friendly against Italy.[35] However, a few hours later, in the aftermath of a Juventus league game on the same day, Juventus chairman Giovanni Cobolli Gigli stated the club's intention not to allow the player to respond to the call-up.[36]
On November 2009, Amauri himself confirmed his decision to play for Italy instead of Brazil, following remarks by Italian striker Giampaolo Pazzini who was critical about the possibility of having a non-Italian born player within the azzurri squad.[37]
After receiving Italian citizenship in April 2010, Amauri finally became eligible to play for the Azzurri. Italy was scheduled to play two World Cup warm-up friendlies in June,[38] who would feature players from a 30-men preliminary squad to be announced on 11 May,[39] thus making Amauri unable to be featured in any of such friendly games without receiving a call-up to join such preliminary squad.[40] Marcello Lippi, the Italy coach, said Amauri would be followed like all the other players and no certainly inclusion. Which Lippi did not ruled out a call-up to the foreign born player completely.[41]
He [Amauri] will be followed like all the other players. I am taking this month to evaluate and take decisions that have to be made exclusively for the good of the national team.
–Marcello Lippi 13 April 2010 [42][43]
Lippi later expressed that he had confirmed 18 out of 23 players in his squad to the World Cup,[44] and excluded Amauri from the 29-men squad of the training camp in Rome on 3–5 May.[45] Amauri said he expected his exclusion as there were better players than him that season.[46]
On 6 August 2010 Amauri received his first call-up for the Italian national team, as part of the squad list announced by new head coach Cesare Prandelli for a friendly match against Côte d'Ivoire, the first match after World Cup.[47] He started the match in alongside debutant Mario Balotelli and Antonio Cassano who missed the team for 2 years in a new-look line-up but the Ivorians won 1-0 at Upton Park, London.

In March 2002, FA Premier League side Aston Villa made a successful £5 million bid for Crouch.[11] He scored on his home debut for Villa, the equalising goal against Newcastle United, and went on to score twice in seven games.[12] However, Crouch failed to hold down a regular place in the Aston Villa side in the following 2002–03 season. Looking for first team football, he was loaned to Norwich City from September to December 2003. Although he scored only four times in 15 appearances, he was highly impressive and remains popular with Norwich City supporters. So popular, in fact, he had a song made up about him ("He's tall, he's lean, he's a freaky goal machine").[13]

"Before the negotiate contract Fenerbahçe's Boss Aziz Yildirim called me and they wanted to see me at Fenerbahçe. In addition to his conversation he said he is a fan of Fenerbahçe and if Fenerbahce's managers will deal with Eskişehirspor, he will sign to Fenerbahçe. Then transfer completed after that. Although comparatively rich for an ex-player working in football, King's reputation as well as his career were in tatters. Within a month of the sacking he committed suicide by drinking alcohol mixed with a corrosive liquid.
The inquest into his death declared that he had taken his life 'while of unsound mind', and had been suffering from persecution delusions. According to his son at the inquest, his depression had begun when the team were relegated in the summer of 1932, and that his paranoia had followed on from that.

Throughout his career, his father has been by his side and is often seen at the Baghdad FC stadium watching his son from the sidelines. From a very young age, his father had drilled into his son, the need to strike the ball the hardest possible and attempt shots from outside the penalty, an attribute that his father and his uncle had been known for in their playing careers, and now a trait and legacy that Ali has continued.[2]

Ted McMinn ended his playing career with Australian club ECU Joondalup and then Slough Town.[1] At Sough Town during the 96/97 season, although slowing down, he played a holding role, often restarting attacks which had broken down. He was revered by the die hards who would sing his nickname Tin Man, to the tune of Stingray. Being a humourist, Ted would have appreciated this. When questioned whether McMinn was a "micky taker," team mate Mark Fiore replied sardonically "yes." At the end of the season he retired due to arthritis of the knee.

Partick Thistle
After returning to Huddersfield Town, Higginbotham failed to establish himself in the first team, and was subsequently released from his contract.[7] He signed for Scottish Premiership side Partick Thistle on a two year deal on 8 August 2013.[8] Two days later he made his Partick Thistle debut in a 3–1 victory over Ross County where he had two goals controversially disallowed for offside.[9] He made his home debut for Thistle in a 1–1 draw with Heart of Midlothian. Higginbotham scored his first goal for the Jags on 31 August 2013 in a 2–1 comeback win over St.Mirren in Paisley. Higginbotham is a very audacious player as he hit the crossbar straight from kick-off away to Aberdeen. Kallum scored his first home goal for the jags with an overhead kick wonder goal against Kilmarnock after 3 minutes, the game finished 1-1 after Killie scored a 90th minute equaliser from a rebounded penalty which Paul Gallacher saved. Higginbotham is renowned for having a great standing jump for such a small footballer. Higginbotham is a very skilful player with great flair.

Bojinov dated a Bulgarian singer Alisia.[23] On 12 September 2007, he became father of a baby son.[24] His son is also named Valeri. Now he is married to a Bulgarian playmate Nikoleta Lozanova.[25]
On October 2013, Bojinov made the headlines in his native Bulgaria, but for good reason. While shopping with his family at a mall in Sofia, Bojinov saved a man reportedly choking on his tongue by helping to pull his tongue out of his throat and stabilising him until medics arrived.[26]

The Friendship Trophy is a football honour, contested on an irregular basis by just two teams: Norwich City and Sunderland.[1]
The trophy is awarded each time the teams play each other competitively. The honour dates back to the camaraderie forged between fans of the two clubs at the time of the 1985 Football League Cup Final that they contested.[2]

Anthony Joseph "Lucky" Isibor (1 January 1977 – 24 June 2013) was a Nigerian professional footballer.[1]
According to a 2004 interview with a fellow Nigerian footballer James Obiorah Isibor had AIDS[4] and according to some later reports, he died on January 8, 2006. However, according to former Isibor's teammate Aleksandr Tochilin, another former Dynamo player Patrick Ovie met Isibor in Nigeria after his supposed death and Isibor was healthy and well.[5] He died on June 24, 2013 in Lagos, Nigeria, after a brief illness.[6]

The Professional Footballers' Association Team of the Year (often called the PFA Team of the Year, or simply the Team of the Year) is an annual award given to a set of 44 footballers in the top four tiers of English football; the Premier League, the Championship, League One and League Two, who are seen to be deserving of being named in a "Team of the Year". Peter Shilton currently holds the most appearances in the PFA Team of the Year in the top division with 10 appearances. Steven Gerrard currently holds the most appearances in the PFA Team of the Year in the Premier League era with 7 appearances.
Oxford United's Damian Batt, who was named in the Team of the Year for League Two in 2011, said he was "very pleased to be given such a prestigious award. It is something that I am very proud of".[4]

He made his return at Port Vale on 14 March, despite having taken little part in training in the preceding week.[44] Port Vale were a team with a physically robust approach, and used the muddy conditions to their advantage.[45] Kinkladze was played out of position on the right wing, much to his displeasure,[46] and gave a performance that the Manchester Evening News summarised as "barely noticeable".[47] Vale defeated City 2–1, and Royle severely criticised Kinkladze for a lack of effort, dropping him for the next six games.[46]

Commentating on the Argentina-Romania match in the 1994 World Cup, Hansen said that "the Argentine defender warrants shooting for a mistake like that". The previous day, Colombian defender Andrés Escobar had been shot dead, a killing widely attributed to punishment for an own goal Escobar scored in Colombia's 2–1 loss to the United States earlier in the same tournament. The BBC issued a public apology for Hansen's poor choice of words.[27]

http://www.watfordlegends.com/Wayne%20Brown.html
So what is the job situation now?
I was offered a chance of a year at Plymouth, but I turned it down as I knew the baby would be arriving, and I did not want to put my career ahead of my personal life. You don’t want to miss the early days and months of your daughter’s life so I decided to knock football on the head. I also had so many niggly injuries in my last year at Preston that it helped the decision. I didn’t see eye to eye at Hull with Phil Brown, so when he became the Preston manager it cemented my decision.
So I knocked it on the head to spend some quality time with the family.
Day to day now I am a property manager for my mother in law’s rental firm in Ipswich. We have just over 500 properties on the books and I work is to look after these properties in terms of inspections and tenants and so on.
I must admit I have found it hard. Going from training with 30 lads each day to working with three middle aged women in an office has been tough. It’s been a tough transition but I accept you have to earn a living.
I’m also doing a little bit of coaching so there may be an opportunity to get back involved with the game a little bit next year.
Well good luck with everything Wayne, thanks for your time.
No probs, thanks for inviting me on to your website.

At the start of the 2008–09 season, Myrie-Williams returned to Cheltenham Town, signing on a one-month loan deal on 14 August 2008. On bringing Myrie-Williams back to the club, Cheltenham manager Keith Downing said "Jennison is an exciting young player who will give us some different options. We've perhaps been lacking a bit of pace and he will give us that as well".(41) He made his second debut for the club four days later, scoring with a header in the 80th minute to ensure Cheltenham picked up their first win of the 2008–09 season with a 2–0 win against Swindon Town.(42) Myrie-Williams made five appearances for Cheltenham during his one-month loan spell, scoring one goal.(43) He returned to Bristol City on 15 September 2008.(44) Shortly after returning to his parent club, Myrie-Williams was loaned out to another League One club, this time in the form of Carlisle United.(45) Myrie-Williams stated that the move appealed to him because of manager John Ward, who he had played under at Cheltenham Town — "We have kept in contact since I was at Cheltenham. He's a good manager and I enjoyed playing for him. I heard about a possible move in pre-season which came to nothing but I'm delighted to finally be here".(46) He made his Carlisle debut on 20 September 2008, coming on as a 72nd minute substitute in a 2–0 home defeat to Leeds United, a result that ended Carlisle's 100% home record.(47) His loan spell was extended for another month on 15 October 2008.(48) His final appearance for Carlisle was in the club's FA Cup 1–1 draw with Grays Athletic, a game in which Myrie-Williams was substituted after 59 minutes.(49) He made 10 appearances during his two months at Carlisle.(43) Myrie-Williams was loaned out for a third time during the 2008–09 season, his fifth loan spell in total, when he joined Hereford United in January 2009.(50) He scored his first goal for Hereford on 17 February 2009 in the club's 2–0 home victory against Leeds United, scoring with a low shot to give Hereford the lead just before half-time.(51) He returned to Bristol City after Hereford's 1–0 home loss against Peterborough United on 21 February 2009.(52) A month later, Myrie-Williams rejoined Hereford until the end of the season.(53) Myrie-Williams scored his second goal for Hereford in an away draw with Yeovil Town in April 2009.(54) He made 15 appearances over the period of the two loan spells, scoring twice, as Hereford were relegated back to League Two after finishing bottom of the table.(43)(55)(56)

Sigurdsson talks like he plays – intelligently – although there is one thing that, on the face of it, is not quite in keeping with the 25-year-old’s suave image. On his Wikipedia page, under “Business Interests” it mentions how Sigurdsson is a “prominent member of the Icelandic fishing industry”, having become chairman of a company in his homeland in 2011, and his boats catch lumpfish, cod, wolffish and plaice.
At Swansea it is well known this is total nonsense and, as a result, a subject which is a source of annoyance to Sigurdsson whenever it is mentioned. In which case, why has he not bothered to edit the damn thing? “I’ve got more important things to do!” Sigurdsson says. “I’d rather play golf than go on to Wikipedia!”

No way jel. We've signed Macho and some other geezer as cover for Carlo, since De Goey has gone. I suppose the thinking is that you need 3 senior keepers. They also have two young goalies : Evans, who was on loan at QPR and somewhere else last season, and Pidgeley. Evans has played for England U21, so must be good enough to be one of the senior squad keepers. It's like the situation at Arsenal - Stuart Taylor looks pretty good to me, but he must be soundly pissed off to be pushed down the pecking order by various foreigners. I mean are Shabaan and Warmuz really any better than him.
CFC WILL sign Joe Cole AND Defoe. You read it here first.

We will beat the Arse good and proper this time - wait and see.
But yes, the goalkeeping situation is insane. And they're all crap apart from Carlo - Ambrosio has played once and was embarrassing, Sullivan has moved with the agility of an out-of-condition tree sloth recently, Macho should never have been signed (Sunderland's 3rd choice last season!) and who knows about the Dutchman?
Next year we need 3 : Carlo, Cech and Pidgeley. Actually Lenny will be good in a year or two, but is prob. not ready for the premiership yet.
We will beat the Arse! You read it here.

With Celtic, he was mainly used as a reserve, but was a respected member of the squad, weighing in with important goals when called upon. He also experienced European football for the first time with Celtic, and even then the continentals found the raw McInally's rough and tumble style hard to counter – indeed, McInally was sent off against Rapid Vienna in the first leg of this soon to be notorious tie, in the European Cup Winners Cup 1984–85.

Described by Sir Frederick Wall, the long-serving Secretary of the Football Association, as "the richest man who ever played football for England", Gosling was the scion of a wealthy Essex family and was educated at Eton and Trinity College, Cambridge.[1] The oldest of seven brothers (and one of 14 children), four of whom played cricket for Eton against Harrow, he was, recalled the early sportwriter JAH Catton ("Tityrus"), "the most aristocratic-looking man I ever saw", a view concurred in by his England international colleague C.B. Fry, who described him as "the best-looking man of my acquaintance" and one of the players whose presence in the Corinthians' side contributed to "their reputation up North as a team of toffs".
After his retirement from sport, Cunliffe Gosling served as a Justice of the Peace in his home county, Essex, and in 1902 was appointed as High Sheriff of Essex[2] and a deputy lieutenant of the county.[3] He died in his bed, recorded Catton, leaving a fortune proved at over £700,000 (£21,260,000 at current prices).

This old story is not featured in Andy Payton's quite cursory wiki entry.
Burnley striker Andy Payton was offloaded on loan to Blackpool in disgrace yesterday 72 hours after appearing before Burnley magistrates, who heard that he spent Sunday evening at a pub before writing off his Volkswagen Golf GTi against the side of a house.Police then broke into his estranged wife's home, after Payton abandoned his car, and went upstairs, where, the court heard, they found Payton, half-naked, hiding in the wardrobe. Payton's defence said he was looking for his children's Christmas presents. He was fined £750, given 80 hours' community punishment and disqualified from driving for three years.

Marney is a free-flowing midfielder and has proven to be a key factor in distribution throughout the teams he has played for. He has recently, at his latest club Burnley, developed a reputation of being a 'hard man' of football, picking up 12 yellow cards and 1 red card in the 2012–13 season, higher than all of his Burnley colleagues and the second in the Championship. He is not shy of a challenge but shows good control of his aggression.

Rooney had also upped the age limit to 16-24 year-olds, he wanted better talent, ability, mental strength and attitude than what he had in the previous two series of Street Striker.
In the first episode, it shows the Top 100 Street Footballers of the UK being whittled down to just 20, who would then go on and perform in very difficult street football challenges in front of Wayne Rooney and be judged by him. This year contestants had to perform in front of massive crowds, which only added to the pressure to perform well.
Contestants who made it through to the Final 20 in Street Striker 2010 included River, Hollie, Ricky, Mamus, Rosie, Alando, Lee, Jay, Jamie, Shpresim, Shannon, Daniel, Olly, Charlotte, Chris, Craig and others. Ricky won.

On 22 November 2011, it was reported that Robinson had left Chesham United and signed for Southern Football League side Didcot Town.[21][22] In an interview with BBC Radio Oxford in December 2011 Robinson stated that he was happy to have signed for Didcot Town and was looking forward to the challenge of playing in the Southern League saying "I just want to play. It was a massive attraction to join up with [manager] Dave Mudge ... The ground and training facilities here are great, especially for this level. I jumped at the chance to come."[23] However, Robinson was dropped from the Didcot squad for a game against Poole Town in February 2012,[24] and left the club shortly after.[25] It was then revealed that Robinson had moved back to the North East and re-signed for Jarrow Roofing. He scored on his second debut for the club in a 3–2 win over South Shields and then scored twice in the next match against Sunderland RCA.[26] It was also revealed that as well as being on the playing staff Robinson had been given a coaching role with the club by manager Richie McLoughlin,[27] who is also the chairman, treasurer, owner and chief sponsor of the club.[28] However, Jarrow Roofing finished the 2011–12 season in 20th place on equal points with Penrith F.C. but were relegated to the Northern League Division Two on goal difference. Following this Robinson left the club and joined County Durham-based Newton Aycliffe F.C.,[29] who had finished the season in mid-table and would therefore play the 2012–13 season in Northern League Division One. Robinson's spell with the Newtonians was initially successful, as he scored a few minutes into his debut in an FA Cup tie against Holker Old Boys, and added a second goal when he scored in a 4–1 defeat by Hebburn Town.
However, it would turn out to be another short spell at a club for Robinson, as it was announced in September 2012 that after just seven appearances for his new club he had left Newton Aycliffe and had yet again returned to Jarrow Roofing for a third spell at the club.[30] Roofing manager Richie McLoughlin was enthusiastic about Robinson's return to the club and praised his abilities, telling a local newspaper: "I’m hoping Robbo will give us some more firepower. He was dying to come back...we also needed his presence in the changing room, as well as on the pitch."[31] Yet again Robinson spent a short amount of time at Jarrow Roofing. In a game against Whitley Bay McLoughlin substituted off Robinson after just twenty minutes, stating "We were getting overrun after 20 minutes and Robbo was not at his best, and you need 11 men on the ball against a team like Whitley, so I took him off and put Dan Carson on. We looked better and got back into the game." The South Shields Gazette reported that this caused a "bust up" between Robinson and McLoughlin, and on 23 November it was reported that Robinson had left Jarrow Roofing[32] – his third spell at the club lasting just a few weeks. In early December 2012 it was revealed that Robinson had signed for South Shields.[33]

Tottenham Hotspur
In August 2009 Tottenham Hotspur were reported to have had a £14 million bid rejected for the player.[5] However on 20 October 2009, Spurs and Internacional agreed an affiliation of the two clubs, ensuring that Tottenham have first option on all academy players from the Brazilian outfit. Following this agreement, there were rumours of a near-concluded deal pending for the 2009–10 Premier League January transfer window.[6] Six days later Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp confirmed he was interested in Sandro for a fee rumoured to be around £8 million.[7]
On 10 March 2010, Internacional President Vitorio Piffero confirmed the transfer of the midfielder to Tottenham, after the Copa Libertadores. The transfer amount was speculated to be around €10 million, with only the contract yet to be signed.[8]
Both Internacional and Tottenham reported on their respective websites that a deal had been agreed for Sandro for an undisclosed fee.[9][10] Sandro joined Tottenham following the end of the Copa Libertadores, which finished on 18 August.[11] Internacional's financial report stated that the fee was R$ 20,633,850, with about 25% re-distributed by Inter to third party owners.[12]
Tottenham Hotspur confirmed that a deal for Sandro had been completed and that he would join up at the end of Internacional's Copa Libertadores campaign.[13] Sandro said of the move to England that he thought Spurs were "a great fit for me" and that "a club that is growing every year makes it the ideal club for me".[14] He made his Tottenham debut in a 4–1 home defeat against Arsenal in the third round of the League Cup on 21 September 2010.
On 9 January 2011, Sandro made a start against League One side Charlton Athletic, assisting Andros Townsend and playing the full match. He made his UEFA Champions League debut for Tottenham on 15 February 2011 at the San Siro against seven times winners A.C. Milan, receiving special praise from manager Harry Redknapp in his side's 1–0 win. Playing a pivotal role just in front of the back four, he was man of the match in the return leg at White Hart Lane.[15] He scored his first goal for the club against Chelsea with a 35-yard volley in a 2–1 defeat.
Sandro signed a new five-year contract with Tottenham on 8 September 2011, a deal which would have run till 2016.[16]
In January 2013, Sandro picked up a knee injury during the game against Queens Park Rangers. After the game it was announced that Sandro would be out for the remainder of the 2012–13 season.[17] Prior to the game, after a run of impressive performances Sandro has been affectionately nicknamed 'Beast' by the Tottenham fans.
He scored his third goal in Tottenham colours in December 2013 against Manchester United, with a powerful shot from 25 yards (23 m) into the top corner described by opponent Wayne Rooney as "a great strike".[18]
Queens Park Rangers
On 1 September 2014, Sandro signed for Queens Park Rangers for an undisclosed fee.[19] He made his debut against Manchester United, coming off injured and replaced by Karl Henry.[20]
