Accrington have just tweeted that four of their fans travelled down to Portsmouth yesterday, only for the game to be called off, so Stanley boss James Beattie has sorted them out with four tickets for Southampton v Burnley.
Now that's a gesture.

are you reaching the Deal or No Deal stage yet with Benteke where you're wishing you'd took the banker's last offer?
― The Zinger Not the Zung (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 4 January 2014 16:55 (eleven years ago)
eh still not really. no reason to suspect Lambert wouldn't have spent the money on arseholes and incompetents. Benteke still not the problem, it's everyone else. Like literally, everyone else. And that's accounting for his poor form and dodgy attitude atm. At least we know for a fact that he can play football quite well, which is more than you can say for any of the rest of them

"It wouldn't be a problem to me to go and manage those clubs because I would win the double or the league every time. Give me Manchester United or Chelsea and I would do the same, it wouldn't be a problem. It's not where I'm suited to, it's just where I've been for most of the time.

thank you ilx you are the best for getting me to this game
For a second I thought I might die and just looked at my shoes because everything was wrong the game never started and nothing happening made sense, and then I saw a guy do a shitload of coke in the loos at half time but like at the urinal as if nobody else was around, as things went on it became clear the ref hated penalties, I lost my voice and jumped up and down with whoever was next to me when Ramsey scored and nearly shit myself when Fabianski Fabianski'd near the end
Later I nearly fell on my dog when we were running home to get pizza, but I just fell over, but who cares we won the FA cup
I still like it, anyway. A boring routine victory is no way to end a trophy drought, you've gotta do something special. Glad Arsenal seem to understand this as a club, but they should be thankful they didn't have to play one of the big teams in the final, with that double pressure (big team + final) it could have been a 12-0 travesty.

Taking the dog for a walk earlier wearing my arsenal shirt was awesome, people waving and smiling, shouting from windows, beeping their horns or on the way to the victory parade
two nil down, three two up, thats the way to win the cup! But I'm glad I don't have heart problems
― not lazy but clowning (Suedey 2), Sunday, 18 May 2014 12:47 (ten years ago)
Knew this was over for Hull from the moment Arsenal brought on Rosicky and Wilshere. They just looked knackered by that point. Not watched Hull very much this season but there was something so stodgily predictable about so much of their play, not much pace and so many players running up and down in straight lines, kind of amazing they managed to go 2-0 up in the first place.
― Matt DC, Sunday, 18 May 2014 12:55 (ten years ago)
they were missing their two first choice strikers in fairness
― Number None, Sunday, 18 May 2014 12:59 (ten years ago)
Yeah but it was ok the ref evened it out by not giving Arsenal 500 penalties
Arsenal also tried to help by giving up two goals in the spirit of fair play

Dom Passantino and Adebayo Akinfenwa are joyriding around Northampton at speed. Dom’s attention is drawn by a passing chubby ‘emo’ girl and, distracted, he ploughs the car into a shoe-making museum and both he and Adebayo die.
Outside the gates of heaven, St Peter asks for their names. Adebayo says “I am Saheed Adebayo Akinfenwa”. St Peter checks his computer and finds out that Adebayo is “a professional footballer currently playing for Football League One side Northampton. He is a large and imposing forward with a sometimes physical style”. The angel beckons him inside.
Dom then steps up and says “I am Domingo Cesare Paolo Passantino”. St Peter checks his computer and reads back: “Seemingly inconsequential journalist. Not sure about popularity or notability. Seems as though this article should be deleted” and Dom is assigned forever to limbo.

Enjoyed Pearce and Savage's overlong spiel about how brilliant Given had been, prolonged further by them awkwardly realising the video editors were repeatedly replaying Given almost giving away a goal by fumbling a tame cross, and having to gradually adjust to say he may have been disappointed to have not held the first save because he held himself to such high standards
The only other notable things he did in the match were make a great save and pass the ball to a Leicester player inside the Villa 6 yard area

It isn't the first time Steadinho has made Sunderland look shit against lower league opposition. Bradford have got a very good deal with him, he has been a pivotal player in their money spinning cup run and we were so keen to get shut of him we generously agreed to continue paying the bulk of his wage.
― xelab, Sunday, 15 February 2015 16:49 (ten years ago)
That was the first time I've seen Benteke play in ages. He looks rubbish now.

Wouldn't fancy being a steward at that one
― tayto fan (Michael B), Saturday, 7 March 2015 19:29 (ten years ago)
never mind the stewards, what about the poor journalists who have to witness and describe such stomach-churningly horrific scenes
this sort of thing is simply not on :(
― Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Saturday, 7 March 2015 19:51 (ten years ago)
Not seen it, but twitter comments suggest it's just a standard celebration pitch invasion. What's wrong with that?
Or did something else happen?
― Drop soap, not bombs (Ste), Saturday, 7 March 2015 19:55 (ten years ago)
60-odd particularly dense Villa fans invaded the corner of the Holte End after the second goal and were rightly criticised and booed by the other supporters as they were being shepherded back off
There was a full pitch invasion on the final whistle, which is a stupid thing to do for winning a quarter final, but seemingly everyone who works for the BBC appeared to be witnessing a pitch invasion for the first time ever and assumed it was some sort of attempted massacre
http://gyazo.com/587c0a9aeb6e4cac2538f8b800cf93a4
Nult is on the scene and has described the atmosphere as "toxic", and also feels that "sad that would had"
― Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Saturday, 7 March 2015 20:03 (ten years ago)
Xpost ffs tho its still only the semi final. Journalist outrage was as OTT as fans reaction, true.
― tayto fan (Michael B), Saturday, 7 March 2015 20:05 (ten years ago)
Fabian Delph said he got bit by an overexcited fan I read on Twitter somewhere (McNulty?).
It was the pre-final whistle invasion that I think made the suits nervous. Although none of it seemed too "bad old days". Fuck, they've had a shitsucking season, let them have a release ffs.
― ineloquentwow (Craigo Boingo), Saturday, 7 March 2015 20:49 (ten years ago)
thank fuck Nult didn't witness us and Rotherham last year

― post you had fecund thoughts about (darraghmac), Saturday, 7 March 2015 21:15 (ten years ago)
I just imagine a single tear rolling down Nult's face as he watches the fans pouring onto the pitch, repeating the words "will have known" while shaking his head sadly.
― Junior Dictionary (LocalGarda), Saturday, 7 March 2015 21:20 (ten years ago)
was seeing tweets about a pitch invasion, forgot what games where on the day so i had a wee look. fuck me you beat the baggies at home in the cup and youre pitch invasioning. that's about the only thing wrong with it, the proportionality.

I should state before anyone else that in their defence there's no DVD releases yet so ye without sin etc
during a particularly shit period of rangers form in maybe 2006 or so Celtic beat them 2-0 then 3-0 at home, in the league and cup, or the league and league cup, and actually released a DVD "remember, remember our two wins in november". which is sort of beyond parody.
― Rave Van Donk (jim in glasgow), Saturday, 7 March 2015 21:52 (ten years ago)
odd that celtic would reference a toast to the burning of a catholic

It's come to something when I find myself actually thinking Robbie fucking Savage, Alan Shearer and Phil Neville are talking sense. PN pointing out the obvious there, that the half-time switch of Herrera for Carrick lost the match.

Liverpool would've been favourites when the draw was made, but it wasn't a surprise they lost today. Especially with Gerrard starting
