if you were a wrestler, what song would you want played as you enter the ring?

i am tempted to say "low rider" by war, but i feel that song is owned by doorag. so "loose booty" by funkadelic. then i would be the height, width, breadth, depth of COOL.

you all realize that all these songs would be redone by nu-metal bands or lil kim in an attempt to license them later.

ps best thread ever

"Children of the Revolution" -T. Rex or "Is It My Body"-Alice Cooper.

lil kim covering bat out of hell would be great!

I have my wrestling career planned out: I will carry a heavy encyclopedia and hit people over the head with it. I shall also shout things like "you're books are overdue" to my blooded opponent.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 16:56 (twenty-two years ago) link

I would use the same song I would use to serenade someone ala Lloyd Dobbler - 'TV Eye' as performed by John Zorn. The best wrestling finishing move ever was THE BELLY CLAW, which was used by Jake "The Milkman" Millimen in the ol' AWA. He would grab hold of his opponent's gut and squeeze. Instead of getting him a submission it usually just made his opponent angrier so he would get his ass beat even worse than normal.

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 18:54 (twenty-two years ago) link

I have my wrestling career planned out: I will carry a heavy encyclopedia and hit people over the head with it. I shall also shout things like "you're books are overdue" to my blooded opponent.

I was originally thinking a noisy Cure track, like "Give Me It" or "Cut" or "Shiver And Shake", but the more I think about the more I realize it would have to be "Close Your Eyes" by Acen.

If my wrestling character was gay, my theme music would TOTALLY be "I Wanna Fuck You In The Ass".

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 20:32 (twenty-two years ago) link

I'm very tempted by UGLY by Daphne & Celeste, but if I were trying to be tough and scary (haha ILE is a bit short of people who could ever pull this off, in the London crowd at least) I'd go for something on Digital Hardcore, maybe by Atari Teenage Riot - Into The Death or Delete Yourself or Get Up While You Can all have the right sloganeering ring.

Oh, and there's a drum & bass track that I've always thought would work well, The Stalking Moon by Kinetix, with great thunder effects.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 20:49 (twenty-two years ago) link

Damn, Martin's totally on-point with DHR, I should use "Start The Riot!" Or maybe something like "Untitled B-Side" or "Stormbringer" by Panacea.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 20:56 (twenty-two years ago) link

I'd have The Rammones 'Blitzkreig Bop', even though on reflection 'hey ho/ let's go' sounds more perky than anything threatening.

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 21:06 (twenty-two years ago) link

"Wot"

I had a friend we called Captain Hoss and we always did our retro thing in the midnineties at "Planet Earth" at Club 950 (it lives still, at Neo, I hear). People probably didn't appreciate it when we'd do this number up, which was every night, since we knew the DJ. A lot of highly dramatic call-and-response, I'm sure you can imagine.
