I never noticed very much that was objectionable about Frederik. I stopped paying too much attention to the politics thread for my own mental health months ago, so that's probably part of it. But he started accruing tons of FPs in the last few months. We gave him a warning a couple weeks ago that people were taking exception to his style of posting and that he was close to getting a 30-day ban. I hope that he comes back when that time is up and can be chill.

Like deems said, he just didn't get it. The danesplaining was bad enough, especially in the immediate aftermath of the US elections. I found it excruciating. Fred B definitely had valuable things to say, and I say this having disagreed with him several times, and intensely so on the election threads.

My impression though has been that his tolerance for disagreement / disapproval is so, so low that when faced by it he seems to feel the need to ratchet up the patronizing tone and then doesn't let go of the matter, like a dog at a bone. Honestly, if he just increased his irritability threshold somewhat, and learned to "let go" a bit, I'd be glad to see him back (even though I 'd expect to keep disagreeing with him often).

the details here might be a little off or not quite apply but in general the classic dynamic whereby you reward ppl who coolly dish it back and punish ppl who lash out is strong on ilx. the level of offence is mostly gauged by how calm & reasonable ppl appear. this is a bad thread
