I've had this computer for five years and I have never once cleaned it out, and being a reflexive bookmarker, there's a lot of pointless shit in there, like the week I decided I might try to learn to play the mandolin and bookmarked like a thousand Youtube instruction videos, and many "Let's Defeat Trump, Here's How"-type articles from 2015

This is not a quarantine post, but it still seems like the most appropriate thread. I quarantine for 22-1/2 hours a day, but once in the morning and once as twilight sets in, I go for a walk. It's the one thing keeping my spirits up.

I only drop into two places now: the post office where my PO box is and the supermarket. There are only a couple of people in the post office and, around 8:00-9:00 at night, same for the supermarket, maybe 2-5 plus staff. I buy a handful of things each day, trying to mentally fill gaps.

I wash my hands before and after, don't touch my face till I get home and have washed, and have taken to wearing gloves and a scarf. I'm thinking the latter is silly--if this thing's in the air everywhere, then we're doomed. I know it can live airborne under narrow conditions, which I'm pretty sure don't apply to the air out there.

I don't stop and have conversations; I'm still new here, so I don't know anybody anyway. I did call out to someone across the road tonight:

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Do people live in these two houses, or are they part of the museum?"

We kicked that around for 45 seconds--except for a few hellos and procedural words ("yes," "no," "debit"), it was the first conversation I'd had since Saturday, I think. I might take a camera with me tomorrow and photograph all the closed and cancelled signs around town as some sort of grim memento.

These are the first walks-just-walks I've taken for years (car hasn't left the driveway since Friday). At first, going back 7-10 days, I couldn't adjust: I had to have a reason, so I'd take a book with me and stop in for coffee. That's no longer an option, which is good. I live on a small side street, so when I first step out, for the first minute, it really does feel like The Omega Man or something. But as I get closer to the town's main street, there'll be a few cars, then a couple of people, and things feel more normal.

1) trying to sort, cull, organize and otherwise tame the mass of tangible STUFF that surrounds me in my relatively small, but cluttered abode, and

2) trying to eat as close to my normal well-rounded diet, based upon abundant fresh vegetables, fruit, dairy and eggs, as I can, while still exposing myself to grocery stores as little as humanly possible, while also

3) walking 2 to 3 miles a day.
