I have no idea what any of this is about, but this seems to be a rough month for ILX in general. I know I've been moody as fuck lately and I imagine a lot of you have as well. Probably has something to do with seeing the end of Covid apparently within touching distance but not knowing when we'll get there. I'm trying to ease off on my internet consumption lately, and I approve of anyone giving themselves a mental health break from ILX and/or the internet if they need to. That said, Neanderthal, you're great, and I hope you don't leave for good.

Echoing Lily Dale, I really hope Neanderthal doesn't leave. He's a good source of levity and humor around here, which is in short supply as of late. But I also know COVID overload is wreaking havoc with people's temperaments and mental health, so I can understand the need for a break.

Oof, that's some history. I could understand why that would lead to grief, but... this IS mostly about the farting songs thread, it seems.

I can't seem to find the button on the admin menu that gives me mod powers of "bang posters' heads together and get them to play nice". Everyone's having a tough time right now and this just seems silly to have a blow-out over.

I must be really naïve because I got the impression that everyone was feeling chiller on ILX lately and that the more controversy-happy posters had either left or mellowed out.

one thing everyone should keep in mind, not just this month, but always, is that people always have a lot more going on than they share. That may be relatively untrue for me, because i've been oversharing about the hell i'm in for about a month now. but even then, trust me, you're only getting like the most palatable 10% of what i'm dealing with. knowing just a tiny bit about neanderthal's life, i know enough to know that there is a lot more going on. so maybe cut everybody a break

Speaking for myself, I posted that I got the Rona and, while I don't want to say I regretted it, that's maybe as far as I would go.

Also worth noting particularly at this time that if you're inclined to be all 'aw, toughen up!' towards someone here, it could be that they've used up all their toughenin' on matters of more consequence and are here just to relax + blow off steam so when you have a go at them, it stings a little more than it might in other venues.

im not hopefully being too much of an arsehole when id gently point out as a corollary to km's (typically) considerate and kind interjection above that everyone may or may not be going through this electric word 'life' at a more or less intense degree at any one time but that is *also* a reason to not *constantly* lean on the board overly much either for ones own frazzled good or for the good of the many other posters who maybe dont vocalise as much but can in my observation be prone to getting frazzled themselves if the constant background energy of the board is eh frazzling.

I was going through a bad time personally this last 6 months, and Neanderthal and gyac both took time out to be really nice to me and I want to say thanks to both of them. I was also very touchy and flounced off the board (in a low-key way as I am a pretty peripheral poster anyway, not sure anyone noticed) a couple of times in response to some fairly mild ribbing, so can appreciate what both old lunch and dmac are saying here.
