basketball on radio sucks because the announcers are constantly playing catch-up and the audible reaction of the crowd often tips off what just happened before they can spit it out.
whereas a home run takes a long time to land so the broadcaster can build excitement while it's in the air.

I don't think it's accurate to say football/soccer isn't popular in America, that has changed a lot. the MLS has a big fanbase and obviously youth soccer has been huge for a long time. Minnesota United opened a big new stadium a few years ago and it's pretty much always sold out

Yes, it seems reasonably popular.

accurate to say cricket isn't popular in america, which is a shame because it rules (allows for irregular field dimensions)

And the class system, of course.

I don't hear it? :)
It seems like most of the guitar sound is coming from one guitarist, and there's a second guitar softly strumming barre chords that is quite subtle. It's barely even there.
Most of the Tuareg bands I've seen had a setup like that, with one amazing guitarist and an understudy or something who wasn't allowed to take their index finger off the fretboard.

I once witnessed a classmate literally piss on a rugby ball when it went down an embankment, before throwing it back, glistening with piss, to the middle class poshboy rugby captain, when we were having rugby imposed on us by a borderline paedophile, tory PE teacher.

going to a United match was really cool, for some reason I found the game so much more compelling live, felt like I had such a better sense of the game, would like to go againhockey was the same way, I still don't really enjoy it that much on tv

(xp) Yes, we had to play it too, stupid fucking game to make schoolkids play when everybody grows up at different rates.

I live near a university with a large contingent of South Asian students, I’ve tried watching pickup cricket and it’s pretty boring.

Cricket is ambient sport, it goes on in the background and you can dip in and out of it.

Yeah, I miss having time to make the trek to see FC Dallas. Genius to build the stadium as deep into the rich white suburbs as possible.

not to bore on about it too much, but cricket was very nearly popular in the US, the first international sporting event was a cricket match between the US and Canada, and it was only supplanted as the "summer sport" in the US in the early twentieth century:https://www.smithsonianmag.com/arts-culture/the-history-of-cricket-in-the-united-states-132185661/
