ILM, I was trying to find out how long i'd been posting. the first post i made, i think was in about december 2000, but i seem to recall i'd been reading it for a few months before i actually had the guts to post. i'll check and make sure... oh yes, 5th december, 2000. i was banging on about some dirty dronerock boy from hoxton. some things never change...

Really not sure. I think its been pretty consistently since I googled Emanuelle Parenin a few years ago. But have come across a couple of things that made me wonder if I had been on earlier, around the milenium. I was doing a lot online around that time.
Think there was probably another Stevo here too. I don't remember the 2lp vs thread with MBV that I saw yesterday.

in 3 days, it will be my two year anniversary with this dn. first time i tried posting was in july 2011 but i was scared off that time.

april 26th 2015 is precisely my 8 year and 9 month anniversary

still feel like the new kid in town some days

I first posted here on May 21, 2006 and started posting regularly in September. since then I've made about 9,380 posts (8,470 as unregistered and 910 as...registered). I probably ended up here by googling the Olivia Tremor Control or Mark Lanegan or whatever indie rock bands I was listening to as a college freshman. the second thread I ever started (a shameless piece of clickbait) has gotten more replies than anything I've started since.

i started lurking in spring of 2004, tipped off by friend and former ilx regular, chris p. don't think i started posting regularly until maybe 2007ish, mostly about basketball. not much has changed in the interim.

i started reading ilm in 2005, in autumn probably, as i was new to my freshman dorm at the time. only 2000 or so posts, i've taken a lot more than i've given back, sorry ilx

pleasing symmetry of 9.5k posts in 9.5 years, i should aim towards hitting 10k on my 10 year anniversary in november. i have no recollection of how i ended up here, my best guess is via the plan b magazine forum.

According to Search function, I arrived in ILE on Sept 3, 2001. My first post was under another user name than Aimless. That was during the Greenspun era, when everything about a user's identity was as slippery as a greased pig. I drifted in from the Greenspun version of Ask A Drunk, which was my usual home.

My first post here was on May 12, 2002, after someone from the Fake Matador Bulletin Board migrated over here and began making nuisance posts as me. In September 2003, I'd hung around long enough that I decided I'd stay and I began using the name Johnny Fever.

Surprised by that. I've had Feb 5 2011 returned from the search engine. Would have thought it was a while earlier than that but that's still 4 years. Did think it was the late noughties.

I know I was on I Hate Music for a while before that anyway. So maybe I'm just thinking of it as earlier here too.

I had been thinking that there was a point where I had to reregister because the database was being updated but I can't think when that was. O(r if i had been using a different sign in name than Stevo or Stevolende before that.

The first thing I remember seeing on ILX was Momus's penis, so whenever that was.

12 years, that's almost a third of my life! Though I still sometimes feel like a newbie, the whole Greenspun era is a myth to me. I remember poxy fule though, and the days of anonymous posting. Remember what a furor there was when some folks dared to suggest posting on ILX should be allowed for registered users only? Such simpler times!

But one day on a bus in London in the early spring, ken c. told me about this, the other Internet tendency. I think everyone was just sheltering me from it before. Haha no.

Accounts have presumably been purged over time. I found a third login where I wrote a single post under my real name but it looks like the account no longer exists.

If you don't log in over the course of six months, the account is purged.

So 5,000 users who have logged in over the last 6 months.

i was a lurker in the pre-ILE I Love Music era, found through Freaky Trigger of course. I distinctly remember the very beginning of ILE, and reading it in my college computer lab while supposedly working on papers. started posting more or less (usually less) around 2001. this is my 5220th post.

I think I must have been here from around 2007. I was just thinking that I had a sign in that I can't quite remember some variationon Pelucidar or parennin somewhere between the 2 of those, was assigned to me on first signing in.
If unused accounts are purged after 6 months and I reset up my account when the forum moved I've probably lost any messages before 2011. So not sure still.
I moved into this flat in late 2006 and set up internet in early 2007 which was the first time I had home internet. Had previously been using a University account borrowed from a friend. I don't remember if I had used ILX before I got my own computer so can't remember when still. Just think it was before 2011 and may have been a while after 2007

Yeah, I stayed on ILM for a while when I started. ILE seemed weird and scary to me. I did not love everything. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go to ILX Heaven.

Yeah, I stayed mostly on ILM for years before dipping a toe into ILE. I think I migrated to ILNFL before I even went to ILE.

I feel like I read somewhere that lurker / contributor ratio on forums tends to be 90%/10%, so.... ~5000 posters, ~50000 lurkers...?

I think you posted a 10%/100% which means lurkers are 100% and we are the posting 10% which seems about right
