See, James, this may have got too me a long time ago - but I guess, I don't give a flying fuck about what ILX - this brilliant cabal of 'net freaks - thinks about me. See, there is a difference between doing and mouthing off. The difference being is: I'm on my way there and yer on the way to being, what? An aging record clerk? See you in the record shop and you better ring through my purchases quickly - beeyotch.

That's what I love about ILX.

I'm laughing over here. And well ... it's been fun, James. I suppose I miss the north american cynical and aging record clerk banter. And that's why I come onto ILX. Tell us all about hip-hop, James, one of the 12 years must be interested. Bee-yotch.

Sonny Tremaine (Sonny), Sunday, 27 April 2003 08:10 (twenty-one years ago) link

Sonny Tremaine (Sonny), Sunday, 27 April 2003 08:13 (twenty-one years ago) link

Sonny:

Is that what it takes to be a champion ILXer? Being all cynical and whatnot?

absolute skittles, Sunday, 27 April 2003 08:14 (twenty-one years ago) link

does anyone on ilx actually work at a record store? I know there's a few college djs and a few real live superduper music journalists but I can't recall any record store clerks it seems like it would come up more.

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 27 April 2003 08:15 (twenty-one years ago) link

how many lawyers are there here?

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 27 April 2003 08:15 (twenty-one years ago) link

absolute skittles, Sunday, 27 April 2003 08:16 (twenty-one years ago) link

Yeah. And hours upon hours of talking to 'net mentalists who share the same world view. And, yes, whinging about how crap everything is.

Sonny Tremaine (Sonny), Sunday, 27 April 2003 08:16 (twenty-one years ago) link

who here does that? (show examples please)

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 27 April 2003 08:17 (twenty-one years ago) link

"how many lawyers are there here?"

you mean, how many self-impressed, bitterly self-righteous turds with no real social skills to speak of are on here??

absolute skittles, Sunday, 27 April 2003 08:17 (twenty-one years ago) link

All trolls are pleased with themselves, just as infants are when they shit themselves. Being a troll has nothing to do with your outlook on life (no one cares, really). It's in deliberately misrepresenting other peoples' identities, opinions, or statements.

Dan I. (Dan I.), Sunday, 27 April 2003 08:17 (twenty-one years ago) link

lawyers decidedly have social skills

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 27 April 2003 08:18 (twenty-one years ago) link

Then you get some sort of ILX award - like you get to meet these champions and hang out with them???

Whinge Exhibit 1

All trolls are pleased with themselves, just as infants are when they shit themselves. Being a troll has nothing to do with your outlook on life (no one cares, really). It's in deliberately misrepresenting other peoples' identities, opinions, or statements.

Sonny Tremaine (Sonny), Sunday, 27 April 2003 08:18 (twenty-one years ago) link

I reiterate:

How does everyone know this isn't all just one big fucking joke for people to try on different personalities and pick fights just to let off steam?? the 'net is fucking crawling with actors.

absolute skittles, Sunday, 27 April 2003 08:20 (twenty-one years ago) link

Is that what it takes to be a champion ILXer? Being all cynical and whatnot?

Right:
Being on ILX is fine, being on ILX is a perfectly reasonable way of passing the time. Due to geography, FAPS, similar taste in music whatever there are groups within ILX. These groups have their own in-jokes and whilst there is an enormous degree of interaction ineivitably there will be posters who pay more attention to some than others. This is human nature. Speaking as one of those who doesn't seem to show up on anyone's radar it doesn't bother me. I post here for my own amusement. Being a "champion ilXer" seems too much like, I don't know, competitiveness. Which is why I find it amusing when from time time people pop up complaining about it being clicquey. Yeah, it is, why the fuck should you cxare?

Matt (Matt), Sunday, 27 April 2003 08:20 (twenty-one years ago) link

let's talk about Geir, Calum, Momus, doomie, Yertle, and now this new guys some more that way we won't be whinging about whatever it is we normally whinge about. have any of these threads been interesting? is doomie just mad I tried to take the air out of his 'ATTN JESS' thread? who knows/who cares? bring on it fuckface

Yeah, I believe that as well - I mean, I don't belive that James is seething with rage at me (I would like to believe that he is not a sad bastard - could be - I dunno). Suppose that is why I found the Scott thing a bit odd.

Dan I. (Dan I.), Sunday, 27 April 2003 08:24 (twenty-one years ago) link

doomie do you post here just to start fights and 'let off steam'? is the life of an amateur rock critic really that stressful? I don't see people who's jobs entail ALOT more responsibility (Millar, hell Chuck Eddy) feeling the need to troll and write it off as therapy

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 27 April 2003 08:26 (twenty-one years ago) link

Sigh. I get the lamest haterz.

When have I started a fight in here? Huh? Stop living in the past.

Suspect arrested after 5 hours in Trenton drain pipe
9:41 PM EDT, October 4, 2007
TRENTON, N.J.

A man who tried to get away from police by jumping into a creek was arrested after spending nearly five hours cooped up in a storm-water drainage pipe and complaining that his back was hurting him, authorities said.

Police said James Blount, 32, jumped into the Assunpink Creek after Trenton police, who suspected he was driving a stolen car, pulled him over around noon Wednesday. Blount floated for some time until officers cornered him between a ravine and a concrete wall with drain pipes.

"And that's when he decided to take his only option out and climb into the pipe," Lt. Stephen Varn told The Times of Trenton for Thursday's editions.

Police, fire and sewer utility officials finally located Blount, who had crawled 75 feet into the pipe, by using a camera they inserted into it. Police persuaded Blount, who told them his back was aching, to grab onto the camera's cord and they pulled him out around 5 p.m.

He was taken to a hospital after authorities cleaned him off with a fire hose.

He was charged with receiving stolen property, eluding police, resisting arrest and obstructing justice.
