Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 15:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Make me.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 15:09 (twenty-two years ago)

There are many lovely ILXors there.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 15:10 (twenty-two years ago)

It's true, I do like Toronto, but I hardly ever go there.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 15:10 (twenty-two years ago)

It's not a flaming cess pool of human misery. They extinguished the fire in '97.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 15:11 (twenty-two years ago)

THERE'S A TOWER IN TORONTO THAT CONTROLS PEOPLE'S MINDS!!!
I liked the Victory quite a bit. Yeah, the ILxors are ok!

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 15:11 (twenty-two years ago)

There's a tower here that CONTROLS PEOPLE'S MINDS!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 15:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Goddammit!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 15:12 (twenty-two years ago)

"Toronto" sounds a bit like "Totoro".

Sommermute (Wintermute), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 15:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I almost went there once on New Year's Eve but we decided not to after getting all the way to Niagra Falls in time for midnight. The fireworks in Toronto were nice. But it was too damned cold and I was dressed inappropriately.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 15:14 (twenty-two years ago)

there are some really sexy ILXORS there.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 15:17 (twenty-two years ago)

ts: toronto vs. montreal, har har har

slutsky (slutsky), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 15:19 (twenty-two years ago)

To ronto or not To ronto?

THAT is the question.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 15:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Depends. Ron to where?

RIP

slutsky (slutsky), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 15:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I love Toronto and would actually like to move there. Kensington Market has a fab shop called Cheese Magic (which I love as it's funny and I like cheese a lot, too). Cosmos records is a good shop for rare Brazilian music and the film festival is really good, too.

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 15:36 (twenty-two years ago)

It's got SARS.

hstencil, Tuesday, 27 May 2003 15:37 (twenty-two years ago)

that's hilarious, fuckwad

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 15:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Look on the bright side, at least it's keeping you on the front pages.

hstencil, Tuesday, 27 May 2003 15:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Charming.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 15:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Forgive me but I don't believe SARS falls within even the loosest definition of "nice"

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 15:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I got my pink Puma jacket there for two dollars.

I had my first experience of meeting Internet friends in real life there. We went to the Pickle Barrel.

rosemary (rosemary), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 15:58 (twenty-two years ago)

what's your problem, hstencil?

27 people died here already, people I know are being shunned when they travel from here, people are scared to come here, people are getting laid of at hotels and restaurants...

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 15:59 (twenty-two years ago)

laid off, I mean

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 16:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I also really like play de record for buying dancehall and soca rcords and the guys there are very pleasant, too

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 16:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry, it was a joke. Obviously it's not funny. I apologize.

hstencil, Tuesday, 27 May 2003 16:02 (twenty-two years ago)

ah, don't worry about it - all we do is make jokes about it here anyway... but it just seems different when somebody from outside makes jokes.

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 18:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Toronto is lovely! I'd like to visit again some time this summer, but getting the time off to do so will probably be an issy-you.

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 18:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, sorry Fritz. We've got (very unpublicized) SARS cases in NYC, no fatalities as of yet though. I've always wanted to go to Toronto, but if I went now I'd prolly get beat up by you and Crudders for that bad joke. Oh well.

Actually, I saw the Blue Jays pound the Yankees on Sunday, so that's one positive thing I can say about Toronto. Your baseball team is kicking mucho ass right now.

hstencil, Tuesday, 27 May 2003 18:52 (twenty-two years ago)

The idea of me beating someone up is very amusing. I don't know how I'd manage it. I'm sure Fritz would kick your ass though; No, I haven't met him, but you can tell but the way he types that he's got some fuckin' pipes on him.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

You may not be threatening presently, but, wait 'til you start Nautilus.

hstencil, Tuesday, 27 May 2003 18:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought DJ Griz was in charge of Toronto beat-downs.

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 19:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Kid Koala's from Toronto, right? If so, there ya go!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 19:01 (twenty-two years ago)

he's from montreal

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 19:04 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah that's how rumours get started nickalicious!

slutsky (slutsky), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 19:10 (twenty-two years ago)

But the Toronto/Montreal music scene cross over is very much alive with Do Make Say Think and Lullabye Arkestra.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 19:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Do Make are probably my fave TO band. So yeah.

slutsky (slutsky), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Sadly they are now split between our two fair cities.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

The Arkestra used to live here for a while, no?

slutsky (slutsky), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 19:19 (twenty-two years ago)

They are also split between our cities, mostly by virtue of having so many shared members.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 19:20 (twenty-two years ago)

that's right.

slutsky (slutsky), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 19:25 (twenty-two years ago)

It is near Buffalo.

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 19:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a really lovely red jumper from Toronto.

Lara (Lara), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 20:01 (twenty-two years ago)

It's really clean, well-organized, and beautiful, esp for its size. Cultural life, including things on the margins, is thriving much more than I expected. The improv and modern classical scenes are better in some regards than in Montreal - way more and some higher quality venues, less cliquey, actually seems like more is going on. It's a pretty good place to buy shoes.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 20:59 (twenty-two years ago)

It's home.

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 22:29 (twenty-two years ago)

It is near Buffalo. that's not a nice thing.

and 'tis my favourite home.

dyson (dyson), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 22:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I’ll probably be staying there while I attend this: http://www.hamilton2003.com/

David Beckhouse (David Beckhouse), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 23:06 (twenty-two years ago)

one good thing about toronto is: me! i live there! but seriously, it's a really beautiful (esp in summer), clean and (relatively) safe city.

it's also got some really nice buildings.

sand.y, Wednesday, 28 May 2003 00:49 (twenty-two years ago)

For some reason I thought you were British.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 00:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't diss TO or we will stick our hordes of Black Squirrels on ya!

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 01:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, the rare Toronto "post it" squirrels. You can stick them anywhere. Very handy.

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 01:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Holy shit, there really ARE black squirrels? Now I feel bad for ridiculing Dean and his black and white "squirrel".

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 01:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Great strippers.

jm (jtm), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 02:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Sundar, i was born and raised (for the most part) in the good old GTA.

i don't actaully even live in toronto, i just work there. in reality i'm a west-end suburban boonie-land girl!

sand.y, Wednesday, 28 May 2003 02:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Post It Squirrels are yellow silly.

(yes Ally, our squirrels are mostly black)

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 02:08 (twenty-two years ago)

west-end suburban boonie-land girl!

Ba, Im stuck in Maple this weekend. Not a decent Tim Horton's to be found.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 02:13 (twenty-two years ago)

ok, well at least there are decent Tim Horton's here in my secret west-end location.

i've never been to Maple, but i always imagine it as being really nice, with beautiful houses and erm...lots of maple trees! i don't really know how or why i've formed this impression though. hmmm...

sand.y, Wednesday, 28 May 2003 02:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Maple has some nice landscapes but its got a heavey Italian population meaning Coffee Times instead. At a youth level its got one hockey team for all of Vaughan but 4 competitive youth soccer teams.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 02:20 (twenty-two years ago)

(I am so glad hstencil is around to take my pre-emptive heat.)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 02:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Unless you could turn it into a dirty joke, I'd think you knew better.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 02:23 (twenty-two years ago)

turn maple into a dirty joke?

oh wait, you meant sars...

is it wrong that it crossed my mind to fakely quarantine myself to get time off work?

sand.y, Wednesday, 28 May 2003 02:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Hell, I don't even live in Toronto and I want to do that.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 02:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Due to the ridiculous "Toronto is a HOTBED OF SARS" hysteria going on around here, the first thing that popped into my head was, "Toronto is not as poxy as the media would have us believe" but I seriously doubted anyone but me would have found that funny. (If I'm being honest, I just like the word "poxy".)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 02:31 (twenty-two years ago)

sand.y, you should try to make it out to a FAP sometime.

(haha I originally forgot to type the "it" in that sentence".)

sundar subramanian (sundar), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 02:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Dan you should run for mayor, or write their speeches.

"Tom Jakobek: not as poxy as the media would have you believe."
I'd almost vote for that.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 02:59 (twenty-two years ago)

As Canada's second best city I think Montreal deserves a lot of credit. However, the implication that it is in any way, shape, and/or form, better than the mighty Toronto is utterly laughable.

To get the ball rolling again in praise of Hogtown, Mike Myers is from Toronto. Eat it Montreal!

J-rock (Julien Sandiford), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 04:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Toronto's drivers could scare the living shit out of any other North American city (though Montreal, Boston, and New York come close)

donut bitch (donut), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 05:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Carruthers ALONE could.

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 05:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Toronto's drivers are a little "aggressive" at times. The thing is that if someone nearly runs you over while trying to cross the street, it's not personal. They're probably just late for something.

J-rock (Julien Sandiford), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 05:30 (twenty-two years ago)

montreal drivers are way crazier. crazier than t dot, crazier than detroit, hamilton, vancouver, london (uk and canada), manchester ect. ect. (time for bed)

dyson (dyson), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 07:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm moving there from London (UK) in August to happy Borden Street, round the corner from Bloor St. I nominate TO on account of the mash and mushroom gravy at Futures cafe. My girlfriend recommends World of Cheese over Cheese Magic (for the free samples), and Fresh Baked Goods for the crocheted bikinis.

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 08:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Its got great restaurants, nice shops, nice cinemas, the people are really nice, you can get good gigs and its got squirrels too. A winning combination.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 08:52 (twenty-two years ago)

My best friend used to live on Borden. It's a nice street with a good mix of families and students. I haven't been to Futures cafe in years but I remember it being quite nice. You're gonna love your new home.

J-rock (Julien Sandiford), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 08:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Toronto's drivers could scare the living shit out of any other North American city (though Montreal, Boston, and New York come close)

As I said upthread, I love Toronto, but this is so true. Driving in Toronto is like that freeway scene from the Matrix Reloaded!

Nicole (Nicole), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 11:26 (twenty-two years ago)

When I was there, they seemed to have a high concenrtration of good book stores, and maybe record stores as well.

I liked Toronoto, but wasn't there for very long. Also, the pan-handlers seemed very unthreatening to me as someone who had spent a lot of time in Philadelphia.

Cultural life: I remember that I saw an announcement by some anarchist group that they were presenting "The Triump of the Will."

Rockist Scientist, Wednesday, 28 May 2003 11:32 (twenty-two years ago)

No city can have drivers as crazed as Montreal. Which is odd cause the rest of the province is just one giant drag strip at times, making the 20 a joy to drive.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 12:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Toronto's drivers could scare the living shit out of any other North American city

Funny but true: When the SARS thing first, um, "hit it big" up there, the minister of tourism or whatever Canadians call that, he was on the tv trying to convince people to still come to Toronto despite the SARS virus. His reasoning? I quote directly, because it is INGRANED IN MY MEMBRANE FOREVER: "C'mon, we kill more people with cars in Toronto than SARS ever could."

BOOYAH YOUR DISEASE AIN'T FO' SHIT! YOU WON'T HAVE TIME TO GET IT WITH OUR CRAZY ASS DRIVERS!

It actually really made me want to go to Toronto. Mission accomplished.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 12:39 (twenty-two years ago)

toronto drivers are polite!! those "point if you are crossing" crosswalks even seem to work there (nb. i still don't trust those crosswalks, not to mention pointing the direction you're walking in looks silly and redundant)

a lot of my favorite pals are from toronto

jones (actual), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 14:05 (twenty-two years ago)

(really tho: any place where a heavy italian population means "Coffee Time" instead of cool mom&pop espresso places on every block = a bit odd)

jones (actual), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't even know we had a rep for driving crazy! Though I do remember my idiot highschool driving teacher describing "stop signs where you know nobody's comin'" as being "stoptional".

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Wait, what? Explain this "point if you are crossing" thing. I'm more used to the furtively-stare-at-oncoming-traffic-until-you-see-a-two-second-gap-then-RUN-LIKE-HELL method of crossing the crosswalk. But I live on Broadway.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 14:09 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.yip.org/cloney/

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 14:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Ahhhh, apparently when you press the crossing button at an intersection with the obvious blinking lights, you have to hold your hand out in front of you, pointing to the the intersection to indicate that you are, in fact going in that direction. This is because people ignore the crossing lights, almost always. It does also have the advantage of preventing your whole body from getting run over, only your arm gets broken!

I've never been to Montreal so I can't comment on the drivers there, though I've been told they are crazy as fuck. Here they sort of break down into two classes: the polite ones that will let you into traffic, and the arrogant luxury car fucks who do whatever the hell they want. I swear, I often want to kill people for the idiot stunts they pull here in traffic, and I'm generally a pretty easy-going guy. The one thing that unites all of the drivers here, though: getting onto any of the highway/freeway routes here when the traffic is flowing is a terrifying experience, because if your car doesn't do 120 km/h comfortably, you are dangerous on the road. Most of the time on the 400 or the 401 you find at least once lane of traffic doing 150. Considering how often there are bottlenecks and slowdowns on these roads, I find this beyond insane.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 14:16 (twenty-two years ago)

ps. montreal's drivers are k-worse than toronto's!!

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 14:17 (twenty-two years ago)

yes. we get punished by not being allowed the right turn on red.

jones (actual), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 14:22 (twenty-two years ago)

hopefully we will be liberated soon, brother-in-suffering!

slutsky (slutsky), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 14:29 (twenty-two years ago)

(really tho: any place where a heavy italian population means "Coffee Time" instead of cool mom&pop espresso places on every block = a bit odd)

The suburbs have less cool shops of any kind then Little Italy(now days Little Portugal) & not so little Italy on St Clair. Just finding a Tim Horton's in Vaughan is never easy.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 14:30 (twenty-two years ago)

The greatest mistake Toronto ever made was letting all its weird little donut shops go when the upscale coffee revolution happened.

Missed fondly: Sophia's Donuts, Country Donuts World, the Princess Café.

slutsky (slutsky), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Mr. Pong's after a night of revelry.
That's a nice thing about T.O.
And the Duke of Gloucester, if I remember correctly, has a really good jukebox.

Bruce Urquhart (Bruce Urquhart), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

And the Duke of Gloucester, if I remember correctly, has a really good jukebox.

Im not a fan of that chain aside from Duke of Argyle which in its stupid quest to be Nova Scotia themed included Clancy's, the beer of the gods.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 14:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm a fan of Sneaky Dees at 4 in the morning chowing down Heuveros Rancheros. That and the all night bus closest to my house runs down Bathurst.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 14:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't think that the Duke of Gloucester was part of some chain. If I remember correctly, it's a kind of seedy British pub upstairs from a theatre. A lot of red velvet and drunken Scotsmen. Grotty gamesroom, weekly darts night and premier league on the satellite.
The jukebox, at the time, had the Jam, the Pixies, old Cure, the Pogues, the Smiths, the Clash, the Buzzcocks and a bunch of other stuff.
There was a small stage in one end of the bar because they had live bands in on the weekends.

Bruce Urquhart (Bruce Urquhart), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 14:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Ahhhh, apparently when you press the crossing button at an intersection with the obvious blinking lights, you have to hold your hand out in front of you, pointing to the the intersection to indicate that you are, in fact going in that direction.

Dude, if I did that here, cars would fucking gun for me.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 14:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Just checked, you seem to be right Bruce. It doesn't sound like it has anything to do with the Duke of Argyle (by Hooters), Duke of Richmond (Eaton's Center by The Bay), Duke of York (Just north of St George station), Duke of Westminster (at First Canada Place) which aside from Argyle's Nova Scotia theme aren't that different and have this huge red carpet fetish and raging anglophilia.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 14:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Kardinal Offishal is from there and he's fabbo

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 14:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I haven't been to any of those Dukes of " blank" but I'm a sucker for that red carpet/anglophile combo. I'm going down to NXNE next weekend so maybe I'll have some Nova Scotian fare at the Duke of Whatever.

Bruce Urquhart (Bruce Urquhart), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 15:01 (twenty-two years ago)

oh, i forgot – for you toronto ilxa'z; i'm moving to forest hill at the end of the week. forest fucking hill guys – y'all gotta come see how shnazzy this place is.

dyson (dyson), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 15:04 (twenty-two years ago)

If anything, my problem with Toronto traffic has just been that the drivers are so excessively fucking slow and polite all the time. Maybe also something about the layout means that traffic is frequently realy bogged down, motion-wise. Or maybe I'm basing too much of this on Steeles at rush hour. Montreal drivers are awesome. They do what it takes to get from point A to point B in time X. They honestly will invariably yell at pedestrians for crossing even when the "walking man" pedestrian light is flashing. It's great.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 15:20 (twenty-two years ago)

And sundar reveals himself to be one of the murderous drivers the ministry of tourism was talking about.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 15:22 (twenty-two years ago)

oh, i forgot – for you toronto ilxa'z; i'm moving to forest hill at the end of the week. forest fucking hill guys – y'all gotta come see how shnazzy this place is.
Does this mean you'll be too good to come out drinking with the rest of us now, you posh bastard?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 15:40 (twenty-two years ago)

He's not the first of the ILxORs to live there.
Im not too far removed from that neighbourhood, though I'm defently on the wrongside of the tracks from it.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Nova Scotian fare at the Duke of Whatever.

Duke of Argyle, just north of King on I think John. Basically its on the west side of the road that has The Parmount theater, CITY/MM building and Hooters. It will be a little east of the Queen West strip of bars.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

As far as pedestrian security goes, I think you guys need to follow Seattle's example... (courtesy of ronny)

donut bitch (donut), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 16:39 (twenty-two years ago)

this mean you'll be too good to come out drinking with the rest of us now, you posh bastard?
no, it just means when i show up already drunk it will be on imported wine; not pc beer and glue.

dyson (dyson), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 18:29 (twenty-two years ago)

That sign is still the best graffiti ever.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 18:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Good luck finding the nearest LCBO store.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 18:42 (twenty-two years ago)

sand.y, you should try to make it out to a FAP sometime

yeah, i might sometime, when i'm not as shy. do you guys get together a lot?

and OH MY GOD, i had no idea you had to actually point at those blinking intersections. i've honestly never seen anyone do that! the picture in my head of it is fucking hilarious though. like, a load of people with their fingers pointed out onto the street, and then all crossing together, like a weird cult or something.

sand.y, Wednesday, 28 May 2003 22:22 (twenty-two years ago)

the duke of gloucester! i had to wake up at like 7 in the morning once ON A WEEKEND to go there with my boyfriend to watch a football match on t.v. the funniest thing was, the place was TOTALLY PACKED when we got there. full of older men in football scarves. and the place was serving coffee and donuts.

that was the first time in years i had gotten up so early on a weekend.

sand.y, Wednesday, 28 May 2003 22:26 (twenty-two years ago)

dyson, I guess you've lost interest in slumming it on the harbourfront with me then? (if the other room *ever* becomes vacant that is)

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 29 May 2003 00:48 (twenty-two years ago)

well. we'll see how the freelancing goes, n how much cash i'm making in 3 months (we're only subletting the place). i can afford the place right now because we're getting it wicked cheap. so, uh, so i guess my answer is i dunno.

dyson (dyson), Thursday, 29 May 2003 01:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Do you know what teams?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 29 May 2003 03:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Mr. Noodles, do you mean which football teams?

it was liverpool v. i think, west ham.

most of the fans there were liverpool supporters (including my boyfriend - he actually paid for the $50 cab ride there that morning!)

sand.y, Thursday, 29 May 2003 03:05 (twenty-two years ago)

My co-cubicle group dweller will be glad to know that, he's been going up to St Clair and Yonge to follow Liverpool at a smaller bar.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 29 May 2003 13:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah sorry I didn't mail you back sooner on that. Looks as if it won't be free until August at the earliest anyway, and I have suspicions that may be postponed to Sept even, so who knows. Might still work out.

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 29 May 2003 13:25 (twenty-two years ago)

sometimes they show matches on sportsnet. i don't know what the channel number is though, but i didn't even know it existed until my boyfreind magically discovered it on my t.v.

sand.y, Friday, 30 May 2003 02:39 (twenty-two years ago)

ya, i think it's every sunday morning.

dyson (dyson), Friday, 30 May 2003 02:44 (twenty-two years ago)

EPL is on Sportsnet (21 or so) but Foxsprortsworld is way up there at 150 or so. If you wanna watch a game that isn't Manu though you often have to find a bar with a satelitte deal worked out. Sadly the North American feed isn't always the greatest games.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 30 May 2003 12:51 (twenty-two years ago)

sand.y: you really should go to a FAP with these guys. They're all very nice and will get you good and drunk and then make sure you are safe. They make you feel loved. They'll make you laugh so hard you'll pee your pants. You WILL declare VICTORYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 30 May 2003 13:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Propagandist.

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 30 May 2003 13:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Like you don't want all those things!

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 30 May 2003 13:45 (twenty-two years ago)

She just wants DJ Grizz.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 30 May 2003 13:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Cad!

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 30 May 2003 14:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I note the shirt doesn't mention the drivers.

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 30 May 2003 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

No one survives them.

Check out Jason Priestly in the new "I Leaf Toronto" t-shirt that Roots put out. Wow. I Leaf Toronto. WTF!?

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Friday, 30 May 2003 14:18 (twenty-two years ago)

i'd like to leaf toronto too... at least for the weekend.

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Friday, 30 May 2003 14:22 (twenty-two years ago)

If they could make it any more tacky I'd buy it. Now they should have show Jason buying coffee at the Tim Horton's next door in that T Shirt.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 30 May 2003 14:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Jason Priestly is Canadian? I'm starting to wish I was Canadian, that's so awesome.

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 30 May 2003 14:32 (twenty-two years ago)

here in Beautiful Vancouver, Vancouver BRITISH COLUMBIA!

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 30 May 2003 14:37 (twenty-two years ago)

that shirt is totally ugly! and not even in a good, ironic way.

but the concept is sort of cool.

sand.y, Friday, 30 May 2003 22:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Cad!

This is so much more true than you can possibly know!

p.s. I don't even remember Bryan peeing his pantz, not to say that I checked or anything...

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 31 May 2003 16:59 (twenty-two years ago)

That might've been at the end of the night, after enough drinks I don't remember when other people pee their pants either. As long as it doesn't get on me, I'm ok with it.

Ally (mlescaut), Saturday, 31 May 2003 23:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I only dribbled a little, and I was wearing chocolate brown corduroy trousers so no one would've noticed.

Bryan (Bryan), Saturday, 31 May 2003 23:42 (twenty-two years ago)

This is so much more true than you can possibly know!

I doth protest!

I pefer rouge though in a pinch rogue or even pogue will do.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Saturday, 31 May 2003 23:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Dude, I'm seriously gonna hafta wrangle my way into the next bidness trip to Toronto, just so I can call you a pogue.

Ally (mlescaut), Saturday, 31 May 2003 23:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Protest!? You love this stuff and you know it. Rouge does suit you so well. xoxx

Hell, Bryan, now I'm not sure I even remember you wearing pants at all.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 1 June 2003 00:20 (twenty-two years ago)

That sounds more like him.

Ally (mlescaut), Sunday, 1 June 2003 00:26 (twenty-two years ago)

He was going commando, like Riker!

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 1 June 2003 00:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah, Bryan, last night (while watching Star Trek Nemesis) we decided that you + facial hair = Riker.

Sean was pissed cause he wanted to be Riker, but then he decided that he's really Odo. Ally is Kira and Zac is Julian Bashir. Alternately (according to Sean) you get to be Worf, and I'm Vash. Yes, we're all insane.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 1 June 2003 00:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Can you implant us in any entertainment, or just that one? Because I'm totally unfamiliar with Star Trek. How about Animal House, I volunteer to be the sorority girl who makes off with John Belushi at the end.

Ally (mlescaut), Sunday, 1 June 2003 00:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Correction: Sean = Wesley Crusher

That is all.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 1 June 2003 03:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Riker got all the tail.

Bryan (Bryan), Sunday, 1 June 2003 03:38 (twenty-two years ago)

(unlike me, so you're all fucked up)

Bryan (Bryan), Sunday, 1 June 2003 03:41 (twenty-two years ago)

TS: Wesley Crusher v. Wesley Willis

Ally (mlescaut), Sunday, 1 June 2003 03:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey Kim, get used to this: " "

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 1 June 2003 04:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh no! Not the empty quotation marks treatment!

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 1 June 2003 06:15 (twenty-two years ago)

" "

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 1 June 2003 14:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Sea ins bunny earing you.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 1 June 2003 17:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll bet Wesley would think that was a clever response too.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 1 June 2003 19:38 (twenty-two years ago)

He would go "But Sir.".

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 1 June 2003 19:42 (twenty-two years ago)

knock it off you guys. yer gonna make all the ilxors think our meetups are like mini star treck convention with all of us in uniforms and borg costumes. and don't get any ideas¡

dyson (dyson), Monday, 2 June 2003 17:36 (twenty-two years ago)

But then we could get Kim to hang around in a old skool Star Trek mini!

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 2 June 2003 17:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Ally can have the early STNG Counsellor Troy v neck uniform.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 2 June 2003 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)

that idea is fine.
the last thing i want is sean dressed up like wesley¡ ugh.

dyson (dyson), Monday, 2 June 2003 17:47 (twenty-two years ago)

We could tape all his PDAs and other assorted toys to his arms and pretend he was Borg. You know the direct connection to the hive ILM hive mind just incase we need to know who raps the Meow Mix Song.

I am so tired this idea amuses me.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 2 June 2003 18:03 (twenty-two years ago)

You guys realize I don't actually live in Toronto, right?

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 2 June 2003 18:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Ally, do you hate fun?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 2 June 2003 18:10 (twenty-two years ago)

if she's never been to the t dot – how could she hate fun when she's never had it¿

dyson (dyson), Monday, 2 June 2003 18:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Sea ins bunny earing you.
Even with all the computing power the Borg collective has imbued me with, I still cannot parse this sentence. You will not be assimilated.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 2 June 2003 18:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Sea ins
Sea nis
Sean is

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 2 June 2003 18:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Such devious encryption!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 2 June 2003 18:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I love fun! I am like fun personified for fuck's sake. I'd totally wear the outfit, I practically already do.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 2 June 2003 18:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I love fun! I am like fun personified for fuck's sake.

So why are you ruining ours by not coming to Toronto dressed like 7 of 9?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 2 June 2003 18:31 (twenty-two years ago)

whatever you need to complete it the outfit, let me know. it will be waiting here for you.

dyson (dyson), Monday, 2 June 2003 18:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Ok, I promise I'll come to Toronto if you guys put together the outfit for me. I wear a size 4. Get to work!

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 2 June 2003 18:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Damm, must run to store and buy more lycra.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 2 June 2003 18:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I really should go to Toronto, it's pretty weak sitting there always going, "Well, I almost went to Toronto but I stayed in Buffalo and got drunk and tried to find wings instead."

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 2 June 2003 19:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Sean would be the worst Borg ever. He's completely resistable.

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 02:11 (twenty-two years ago)

" "

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 02:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I still want to go to Toronto.

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 01:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Ok, when?

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 01:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Good luck finding the nearest LCBO store.

and by the way; mr. noodles, if that is your real name; i'll have you know there happens to be a lcbo a mere 15 minute walk away. ~nya~

dyson (dyson), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 02:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Holy shit, there really ARE black squirrels? Now I feel bad for ridiculing Dean and his black and white "squirrel".

I remember seeing one (in a cage) at the Washington DC National Zoo ten years ago.

Christine 'Green Leafy Dragon' Indigo (cindigo), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 02:56 (twenty-two years ago)

And about Toronto: I was also there ten years ago, visiting my sister while her husband was stationed there at an Air Force hospital. I loved the place. She acted like she had been parachuted into the middle of Borneo.

Christine 'Green Leafy Dragon' Indigo (cindigo), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 03:00 (twenty-two years ago)

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 09:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Whenever Ally: The sooner we get out of this NYC apocaplytic central the better. Can Felicity find us one of those free tickets again? When is a good time to visit, Toronoites?

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 16:16 (twenty-two years ago)

That's so wrong! Why should the black squirrel have to live behind bars?

Nicole (Nicole), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 16:30 (twenty-two years ago)

it's a good time to visit now - cheap flights and hotels etc because you will get SARS

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

and by the way; mr. noodles, if that is your real name; i'll have you know there happens to be a lcbo a mere 15 minute walk away. ~nya~

But where!?!?! I am merely distressed as my nearest one is St Clair and Bathurst or Yorkdale. I mean how am I supposed to live in the neighbouring ghetto if I can't get my malt liquor? I guess Black Ice is close enough.

yes, come to TO, we'll give you SARS, or better yet, West Nile to help remeber your vacation.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 16:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I should go to Toronto, a pity I should be pretty busy at work til the end of July.

Nicole (Nicole), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 16:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Mary, I cannot go probably for the rest of this month! This weekend being the Belmont thingy and Tracer's birthday, the following weekend is the travesty-of-everything-wedding and a required school trip to the Met, the following week I might have a friend in town. Maybe the last weekend in June? Or sometime in July would be good. Tickets aren't too much, like between $100-$200.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 16:56 (twenty-two years ago)

st.clair west station, the one in the loblaws. that's the one near me. i live right in the village so it's pretty close.

dyson (dyson), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Great Ally, let's plan end-of-June to July then. Maybe July 4 wknd ? Ha ha!

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

God, Mary, I was thinking the same thing! What if we held a NYC FAP and no NYCers came?

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 17:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Aaaaaah, see, I thought you had scored the part of Forest Hill up at Avenue and Eglinton. That might be St Paul's, I don't knwo the differnce, its all the same riding.

We could have a Toronto FAP for all the NYCs with no Toronto ILXoRs cause we were all in NYC. And so ILX enters the exciting and kinky world of FAP swapping.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 17:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Now you are talking. Though you're totally going to miss me and Mary's sexy 60s-style Star Trek outfits.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 17:33 (twenty-two years ago)

We will just have to rely on pictures.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 17:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Who says we will take any?

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 18:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Wait till you mee the midget with the camera!
I mean how can you refuse a grumpy midget with a bum leg who mutters misogynistic things at you when you don't want to pay him to take a black and white picture you don't even want. He's probably in cohoots with the guy who sells blinking plastic roses.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 18:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Zac, that's a really mean way to talk about Sean.

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 22:06 (twenty-two years ago)

(ok, ok - so there's an actual little old guy with an antique polaroid camera who accosts you if you sit still too long any place on Queen West. And it's true that he's a temperamental artiste too - if you fuck up the picture by closing your eyes, he'll still want you to pay)

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 22:10 (twenty-two years ago)

And his name is Sean.

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 22:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm going to an event that features a KISS tribute band made up of midgets. This seems to relate vaguely, so I'm bringing it up.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 22:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll be going to Edmonton June 25-July 2. So I'll miss you if you come at that time.

The Kiss tribute band sounds good though.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 22:40 (twenty-two years ago)

You'll be back for the attack by the 5th or 6th Sundar? I'm gonna go up there after the NYC FAP amd I want us to all get together.

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 22:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Thursday, 5 June 2003 00:22 (twenty-two years ago)

That's so wrong! Why should the black squirrel have to live behind bars?

I felt sorry for it, too.

Christine 'Green Leafy Dragon' Indigo (cindigo), Thursday, 5 June 2003 00:45 (twenty-two years ago)

two weeks pass...
So, someone somewhere put together this concert lineup. I want what ever this person was on to come up with this:
Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Flaming Lips, Guess Who, Justin Timberlake, Sam Roberts, Kathleen Edwards and Isley Brothers.

Thats some seriously wacked out shit. Probably within 5 minutes on TTC from my house too.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 13:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Sam Roberts...isn't he your butcher?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 14:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I guess the Rolling Stones need some fresh meat.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 14:36 (twenty-two years ago)

*rimshot*

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 14:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I always misread this thread as say something nice about toraneko, who's very nice indeed. That's all.

teeny (teeny), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 15:20 (twenty-two years ago)

i know have the image of justin timberlake and keith richards fagging up.

thank you.

anthony easton (anthony), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 15:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Bryan, which days are you going to be here again? Maybe we should begin the FAP negotiations.

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 15:52 (twenty-two years ago)

He might be towing along a couple NYC ilxors. Just FYI. This is not definite.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 15:54 (twenty-two years ago)

negotioations¿ i say our next fap must be somewhere on the queen strip. we've neglected one of the trendiest areas of the t dot. and i want a patio too.

dyson (dyson), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 16:09 (twenty-two years ago)

My current plan is that I will be getting to TO on the evening of the 6th and departing (possibly) sometime on the 9th. Dyson is OTM. I want to hoot and whistle at those hott TO bitches.

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 16:12 (twenty-two years ago)

i say our next fap must be somewhere on the queen strip. we've neglected one of the trendiest areas of the t dot.

Yo, FUKK trendy. I think in keeping with the whole Trucker Hat discussion that's been going on on the board as of late we should actually do the next FAP at a cheapo trucker bar somewhere on one of the regional highways.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Yo mama.

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Be forewarned July the 8th contains:
THE NEW PORNOGRAPHERS w/ The Organ. Phoenix. $15
THE GOSSIP w/ The Paybacks, The Sick Lipstick. Lee's Palace. $10

I want to hoot and whistle at those hott TO bitches.

Queen West is great for shows and all but The Rivoli and Horseshoe 'patios' leave a little to be desired in aside from cheap beer. Is Queen West still considered trendy these days? I thought after The Gap, Roots, Le Chateau and HMV moved in that offically became crap and all koolness had transfered up the street to College a few years ago to the combination of Elmo, Ted's Wrecking yard, Rancho Relaxo, Sneaky and assortment of fine Italian cafes.

I'd cheapishly suggest Duke of Argyle just so I can get my Clancy's beer. its south of Queen on John, though King Street West is nice enough to take out of town folk too. But no hott bitches on that patio.
If it be "hott TO bitches" Bryan wants, maybe we could hike up to Yorktown and make him buy a round at the Guess Patio, home to more eating and pill disorders then anywhere else in the city.
hmmm, THE BEACHES! Lion on The Beaches! Its just a street car down from Queen & Yonge (aka The Eaton's Center).

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 16:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Yo, FUKK trendy. I think in keeping with the whole Trucker Hat discussion that's been going on on the board as of late we should actually do the next FAP at a cheapo trucker bar somewhere on one of the regional highways.

Fine, I know tons of those, Crows Nest at Jacksons Point, only hour and half out of the city. If your lucky they will still be cleaning up the shards of glass from the night before. Hell screw the regional highway, lets go to Gilleys!

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 16:42 (twenty-two years ago)

what about nasa or gorilla monsoon both on queen, have patio n not bitches.

dyson (dyson), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 17:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I wuz kidding about the bitches. I can't whistle worth shit. If we can go somewhere not too expensive with good beer I'll be happy, as I'm guessing you all will be as well.

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 17:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I know not of Nasa I must admit. I also can't remeber how big Gorilla Monsoon's patio is, oh well. I'm not picky though, just choosey.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 17:16 (twenty-two years ago)

they're both extreemly tiny patios. and nasa is, like, the coolest bar evah. but they have not fancy beers – only airline seats and ataris.

dyson (dyson), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 17:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, clearly that's where you should go.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 17:20 (twenty-two years ago)

the coolest bar evah. but they have not fancy beers – only airline seats and ataris.

Northside of College east Clinton or so? Done all red and white with red lighting?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 17:23 (twenty-two years ago)

uh no. queen, dude. near the now infamous velvit & across from amatos.

dyson (dyson), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 17:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Freaky, it has a twin up on College then with only an airport sign for a name.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 17:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey is it the Big Gay Weekend or whatever its called?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 17:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Shit must have walked by that place all the time. No mention of a patio though.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

yup, it's the canada pride jazz weekend festival.

dyson (dyson), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 17:41 (twenty-two years ago)

And Jazz festival? Man downtown is going to be a zoo. Maybe i should be glad Im stuck in Scarborough this weekend.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Zac, what was that place on Queen called that had the really good Martinis and where that one girl was really drunk?

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 18:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh gawd. Nasa? When I lived in Toranna (granted, a few years back), there was a sandwich board outside of Nasa that read "For People who UNDERSTAND House Music." That was enough to make me NEVER EVER want to go there. Then again, I moved to Mtl--the homebase of bad house music. What am I doing to myself!!

cybele (cybele), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 18:10 (twenty-two years ago)

What Toronto needs is one of those clubs downtown to play dub. Or maybe my neighbourhood is just starting to seep into me a bit too much.

Place on Queen with those wonderful Martinis was Modesto, right smack dab inbetween Bovine, VU and this Nasa place. Im not sure what tiny street corner it was though.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 18:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Klien Says " Americans badly need Canadian beef ", this has nothing to do with the thread but I just had to post it.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 19:47 (twenty-two years ago)

That is such a dirty comment in my mind that I don't even know what to say.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 19:49 (twenty-two years ago)

the gypsy co-op plays some dub (also on queen), i think on wednesdays. i may actually go tonite.

dyson (dyson), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 19:58 (twenty-two years ago)

the gypsy co-op plays some dub (also on queen), i think on wednesdays. i may actually go tonite.

I've heard good things about that place from some of my east coast transplant friends.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 20:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Just to get back to an earlier exchange on this thread.
I went to the Duke of Argyle while attending NXNE.
I had a steak sandwich and a Strongbow cider.
Yowza.

Bruce Urquhart (Bruce Urquhart), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 20:18 (twenty-two years ago)

yowza good¿
see, you do need canadian beef.

dyson (dyson), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 20:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Clancey's Amber ale is the jewel of that place. Makes me miss the old Alcool NB stores.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 20:30 (twenty-two years ago)

three years pass...
This will probably not help Toronto's raging inferiorty complex

J-rock (Julien Sandiford), Wednesday, 30 August 2006 06:13 (nineteen years ago)

LOL

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 30 August 2006 12:21 (nineteen years ago)

TO's really gotta let the "world-class" thing go

It's a great city, but so much of what makes it great is subtle, and takes some time to discover. Toronto lacks the "Old World" charm of Quebec, and Montreal, and isn't blessed with abundant natural beauty like Vancouver. In spite of that however, she rocks, and anyone who lives there shouldn't need a list to tell them that. I could also mention Hamilton, Ontario and Nagoya, Japan as two other places I've lived in that are pretty great, but are in no danger of ever making anyone's list of "World Class" cities.
