So, that other ones all huge and stuff. Who wants in for this round? I'm in again.

Chris V. (Chris V), Thursday, 26 June 2003 10:37 (twenty-two years ago)

what are we supposed to be doing, compiling one - i did a really decent one a while back - one of my finer moments... wanna tracklist?

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Thursday, 26 June 2003 10:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Yep, compiling them and send them out to the other peeps who want one. Sure put your tracklisting down.

Chris V. (Chris V), Thursday, 26 June 2003 10:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Ok here goes, this one was geared to her tastes and worked pretty well:

Cajun Moon (Cajun Long Trip Version) - Randy Crawford
It's Love - Jill Scott
Supa Sista (Society Nu'americana Jazz Remix) - Ursula Rucker
Get Along With You - Kelis
Level Green - Hefner
Mahalela - Letta Mbulu
Get There Tonight - Recloose
Tessio (MRI Mix) - Luomo
La La La - i-Cube
Suddenly - Herbert
Plain Gold Ring - Nina Simone
Oops (d&b bootleg mix) - Tweet
Stone Cold - Groove Chronicles
Street Lullaby (Four Tet Mix) - Two Banks Of Four

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Thursday, 26 June 2003 11:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Of course this may be a bit more difficult to do seeing as the RIAA is going to sue everyone.

Chris V. (Chris V), Thursday, 26 June 2003 11:33 (twenty-two years ago)

i'll make one for my current ilx crush and by the time they get it i won't have a crush on them anymore and then i'll be like d'oh.

di smith (lucylurex), Thursday, 26 June 2003 11:52 (twenty-two years ago)

They will only sue us if we use P2P services to compile them now instead of just using our own current MP3 and CD collections! I'm in! I love mixtapes!

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 26 June 2003 12:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm in. **ilx collectively yawns**

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 26 June 2003 12:44 (twenty-two years ago)

i want one ally i emailed you this morning. oops, i forgot to add my address.

Chris V. (Chris V), Thursday, 26 June 2003 12:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris I still have your address I think--I'll let you know if I don't have it though. I'm PRETTY sure I still have everyone from the first time's address. Because I am compiling them for my nefarious plans.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 26 June 2003 12:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, this could be fun

Matt (Matt), Thursday, 26 June 2003 12:52 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, I'll be in! I still have a couple to make from last time, I'm really slow, sorry. Or, I have too much music to choose from. I shall post them next week!

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 26 June 2003 13:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't have a crush on anyone on ilx, but i'll happily make one for someone if they like. Preferably female (the title of this thread being crush tapes, I'd feel odd making one for a chap!) and willing to put me a CD/tape tape together, too...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Thursday, 26 June 2003 14:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll make one. But I can only make CDs.

s1utsky (slutsky), Thursday, 26 June 2003 14:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Ditto

Alfie (Alfie), Thursday, 26 June 2003 14:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm in again

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 26 June 2003 14:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll post a tracklisting later and if you want it, then you let me know. Crush status is not essential.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 26 June 2003 14:59 (twenty-two years ago)

i could probably base having a crush on someone on what they'd put on a tape for someone they had a crush on so post some track listings & i'll tell you whether yr crushworthy or not ok

duane (doorag), Thursday, 26 June 2003 15:16 (twenty-two years ago)

good idea!

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Thursday, 26 June 2003 15:23 (twenty-two years ago)

i'll make a mix on either tape or CD for whoever wants

(tho i still haven't mailed 2 already made ones out to ppl *hangs head shamefacedly*)

H (Heruy), Thursday, 26 June 2003 15:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I can make a CD for anyone who wants one if you don't mind waiting like 2 weeks or so (my financial aid check is a little bit late, but the bills are not). If I secretly hate you I'll just make sure the CD is nothing but early David Bowie demos, circa "The Laughing Gnome."

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 26 June 2003 16:47 (twenty-two years ago)

If I get that, I'm sending you back a mix of nothing but John Tesh Live At Red Rocks.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 26 June 2003 17:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I demand tracklistings be posted on here upon receipt of said cd.

Chris V. (Chris V), Thursday, 26 June 2003 17:24 (twenty-two years ago)

....like a bitch dog in heat...we had those bed springs squeakin all night long...

Chris V. (Chris V), Thursday, 26 June 2003 17:28 (twenty-two years ago)

If I get that, I'm sending you back a mix of nothing but John Tesh Live At Red Rocks.

C'mon, I don't secretly hate you. If I hated you, it would be too much fun for it to be a secret. I'd devote threads to the Ally-hate.

If you're putting Zappatesh on all yours, I want one the way poodles want bowties (i.e., lots).

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 26 June 2003 18:20 (twenty-two years ago)

You bet your ass that's going on my mix CDs.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 26 June 2003 18:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm going to do one. I already made a cover. But I haven't picked out the songs yet. But the cover is hot pink. I stole company resources to make it, so you know it's hottt.

NA. (Nick A.), Thursday, 26 June 2003 18:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Mine is going to be suckass in comparison now. There's just no way to follow that.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 26 June 2003 18:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a crush on most of you and love making compilations, but have no CD writer and the cassette decks on my hifi have been buggered since that intruder a couple of months back. Sorry!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 26 June 2003 21:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm in, if I didn't say that already. My cover will not be hot pink. I think a cool electric blue will suit it better. Cause, you know, it's cool.

Nobody has any problems with Mancini film music, do they?

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Thursday, 26 June 2003 21:08 (twenty-two years ago)

What are the logistics here, anyway? Who gets what mix? Can we pick?

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Thursday, 26 June 2003 21:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Anyone who wants one from me, email me your address & stuff, pretty please.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 26 June 2003 21:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah, anyone who wants one from me, email yr everything to bill @ discomoose.com (and if you want to send me one and need my address, likewise email me)

Outgoing email isn't working at the moment, but I can receive it just fine.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 26 June 2003 21:40 (twenty-two years ago)

haha, i read this thru alcohol bleary eyes as "THE ALL NEW CRUSH RAPE THREAD", and i was just like "thats too far, even for me".

Bob Shaw (Bob Shaw), Thursday, 26 June 2003 21:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm in again too. I still have one more to finish from the last round

Chris Barrus (Chris Barrus), Thursday, 26 June 2003 23:51 (twenty-two years ago)

The one I've just put together is wobbly, glitchy and fun... will post tracklist when I can see straight (v tired)

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Thursday, 26 June 2003 23:58 (twenty-two years ago)

OK. Mine is done. I made it last night. It's crazy, spastic, noisy rock music. It doesn't let up. It does have the promised hot pink cover. If you want one, email me at naamme @ yahoo.com. I'll collect requests over the weekend and send them out early next week hopefully. I can post a track list if the public demands it.

NA. (Nick A.), Friday, 27 June 2003 10:42 (twenty-two years ago)

We demand!

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 27 June 2003 10:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 27 June 2003 10:49 (twenty-two years ago)

kephm, Friday, 27 June 2003 12:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah, and I need duane to tell me if I'm crushworthy based on this tracklisting. I would guess no, simply because there's a Naked City song on there.

NA. (Nick A.), Friday, 27 June 2003 12:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey NA, can I beg a copy of that crush tape? I can pay postage and swap you a crush CD!

(Tried to send you an email but I can't de-anti-spam yr email address
D'oh!)

Again, my email address is naamme@ yahoo.com. Just take out the space. But I'll email you my address and you can reply or whatever.

NA. (Nick A.), Friday, 27 June 2003 12:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Friday, 27 June 2003 13:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Alright how does this work? I need an excuse to pull out all my 80's vinyl.

zaxxon25 (zaxxon25), Friday, 27 June 2003 13:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry I'm too fast. I had some ideas of what I wanted to include, got home, was motivated, and just got it done. That's how I have to do things, or else I lose interest.

NA. (Nick A.), Friday, 27 June 2003 13:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Sarah, does this apply to the bedroom as well?

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 27 June 2003 13:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Zing!

NA. (Nick A.), Friday, 27 June 2003 13:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Crush cds are done ('cept for one) and are being mailed today...

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 2 July 2003 19:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm going to do this tonight! You'll all be getting some fine sonic pleasure soon. Not necessarily because of my mix tapes mind you.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 2 July 2003 20:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah, and I need duane to tell me if I'm crushworthy based on this tracklisting. I would guess no, simply because there's a Naked City song on there.

zaxxon25 (zaxxon25), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 10:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Yay! My mix cd from Mei was at my house when I got back from NYC and it fucking rocks! Slayer, Melt Banana, Rapeman, etc., etc. I haven't really had a chance to give it a good listen because I've been home less than 12 hours and I was sleeping most of that time, but I skimmed it and I will listen to it on the way to band practice tonight. Dude, I will get some cds in the mail to you this week, I promise. Thanks again!

NA. (Nick A.), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 11:48 (twenty-two years ago)

mine has Richard Ashcroft on it, may be a big downer. But I still like the man.

Chris V. (Chris V), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 12:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Jody I am still working on yours no kidding. It's been a long strange trip.

amateurist (amateurist), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 12:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Yay! I just got luna's mix! Yay!

Looks like I'll have to make hers now. I am a terrible procrastinator. But now I have something of a guide to her tastes, which is bonus.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Thursday, 10 July 2003 01:54 (twenty-two years ago)

That's cheating!

(my offer is still open by the way and remember it comes with a guarantee!)

s1utsky (slutsky), Thursday, 10 July 2003 01:55 (twenty-two years ago)

My financial aid went through a couple days ago and should shortly be converted to cash through my plutomantic stylings; discs will follow. Hopefully I will remember not to put anything on them that was on the first set.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 10 July 2003 01:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Go to Target. Buy the 50-pack. Don't worry about buying discs for another year.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Thursday, 10 July 2003 03:15 (twenty-two years ago)

luna i got yr cdr thx! but i haven't listened to it yet cause i don't have a cd player & none of the sound stuff on my computer works either. but, i even made you a tape already, it'll prob take me a while to send it & you prob won't like it either , i don't know, but yeah it's all made & stuff.

duane, Thursday, 10 July 2003 03:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I fully expect everyone I make cds for to hate them.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 10 July 2003 04:21 (twenty-two years ago)

only if you hate mine in return

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 10 July 2003 04:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, you have to hate mine, too. I suck.

Isn't self-deprication attractive?

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Thursday, 10 July 2003 06:02 (twenty-two years ago)

nah - it's not so much that as I'm used to being told 'wow you have really shitty taste in music!"

I don't care so much - 'cause it's all stuff I like.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 10 July 2003 06:24 (twenty-two years ago)

No it's a great Cd! It has 'You can do it'!!!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 10 July 2003 06:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Put your ass into it!

My favorite line in that song is "I got dick for days, you got ass for weeks"

and I have no idea why.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 10 July 2003 06:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Because it's brilliant? And obv there's lots of other good stuff on that Cd, yes sirree

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 10 July 2003 06:51 (twenty-two years ago)

That Ice Cube man - he's got a way with words, fo sho'.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 10 July 2003 06:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Ally, your copy will be going out tomorrow. I need to change something. You probably already know what will be the final track!

Chris V. (Chris V), Thursday, 10 July 2003 12:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Luna, I want to send you a mix! SEnd me your address pretty please.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 10 July 2003 12:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey everyone who was at the FAP who wanted a CD from me who didn't get one please email me an addy and I will forward? Or if you just wanted more CDs, that's cool too.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 10 July 2003 13:15 (twenty-two years ago)

nah - it's not so much that as I'm used to being told 'wow you have really shitty taste in music!"
I don't care so much - 'cause it's all stuff I like.

Ok, yeah, well... the Matchbox 20 could go. But there's so much good stuff here, too! Edwin Starr! Whatta great song! And it's not "War"! And if you like Stevie Wonder, your tastes can't be bad. That's a rule.

Just for you, I'm putting some Hall and Oates on my mix. I'm not afraid that you'll get all uppity about it.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Thursday, 10 July 2003 14:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Go to Target. Buy the 50-pack. Don't worry about buying discs for another year.

Six months, anyway (my hard drive is small and only ever has 2.5 gigs free once it's cleared off). I do need to do that, though, damn. Picked up a 10 pack to start with, though.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 10 July 2003 16:02 (twenty-two years ago)

my hard drive has approx, 436mb of space on it.

Chris V. (Chris V), Thursday, 10 July 2003 16:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah well M20 kinda slipped by me, I just really likethat song.

Also, I'm not too cool to admit that I dug H&O back in the day... probably still do.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 10 July 2003 17:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris, I got your cd just now and it rocks once again - thanks, sug!

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 10 July 2003 23:57 (twenty-two years ago)

And if you like Stevie Wonder, your tastes can't be bad. That's a rule.

Heh, I told her 'of course, i like my cd...it's got Stevie on it'

oops (Oops), Friday, 11 July 2003 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Should have saved tracklist ... was my last one the one with Ring of Fire cover(s) on it, or no?

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 11 July 2003 00:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think so

luna (luna.c), Friday, 11 July 2003 00:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I left it at work, but want me to email you the tracklist?

luna (luna.c), Friday, 11 July 2003 00:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I lie - I have it here - want me to email you the tracklist? (No ring of fire, btw)

luna (luna.c), Friday, 11 July 2003 00:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh sure, good plan. (And woo, I can put Ring of Fire on the new one.)

HAVE ANY OF YOU PEOPLE EVER HAD CRUSHES? Crushes make you listen to SHIT music!

adam. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 05:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Life In Tokyo (Disco Mix), Japan

*squeal!* *squeal!* *squeal!* *squeal!*

(Sorry, I ADOREADOREADORE this particular version of LIT. Only version I adore more is that awesome instrumental version.)

I tried understanding what "crush tapes" were all about back when I was still trying to feel my way around here and noticing all this talk about "crush tapes", but couldn't understand it. Obv I've never made a "crush tape" for anyone, nor could I tell you what the whole procedure would entail. So -- what's the deal?

On a slightly different note -- back in 2000, I made an '80s compilation on an actual cassette tape, for when I wanted to listen to various things whilst driving around in a vehicle with just a tape deck, and I've been listening to it recently as music to mop to and have found it to actually make mopping a halfway decent experience. Fun!

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 05:31 (twenty-one years ago)
