Emma and I are coming to Londinium on August 7th (returning on the 8th) so that we can go record shopping in the afternoon (hooray!) and then I can go for a drink with my mate Dan (hooray!) and Emma and Dan's g/friend Charlie can go and see Ash (hooray!) in the evening at that place where you get your birth certificate from, or something.

So, who fancies a pint?

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 11:06 (twenty-two years ago)

And also, who fancies trawling Berwick Street with us in the afternoon?

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 11:08 (twenty-two years ago)

You can't trawl Berwick Street. You're nets (recently made illegal by the EU) will get caught on the fruit and veg stall outside the Blue Posts.

You know you really should have made this the 6th.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 11:09 (twenty-two years ago)

worst possible timing. that whole w/e is totally out for me:(

gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 11:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I should be about. Are you asking the Steering Committee to name a venue or is this something you have already arranged, Nick?

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 11:11 (twenty-two years ago)

yes, i'm DJing this night as well (90% definite) but thats by the by (unless anyone here wants to come try and fit into the sauna-cum-phonebooth that is The Asylum) - so i could pop in from 6 til 8 or so.

the John Snow was a good venue no?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 11:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll be around.

Blimey it could be a week of clubbing action.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 11:13 (twenty-two years ago)

It's Vicky's bidet that day so probably not.

But Steve, did you book Asylum yourself?

chris (chris), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 11:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I shall set aside that evening! (We'll be back from Wilts by then) Work gets in the way of trawling, but pints it is!

kate (kate), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 11:15 (twenty-two years ago)

this will also be the week of the many london GEETA-FAP(s) i believe/hope/assume/hope (tho 7th = eve b4 she leaves)

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 11:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Might as well mention (after Pete's hint above) that the 6th provisionally = Club Freaky Trigger site relaunch party, though this is very very far from definite (i.e. we've not asked them yet).

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 11:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Blame Ash for the date! We'll need a venue near were Ash are playing, so Dan & I can escort our ladies home once the gig has finished. Can't remember where it is exactly, something House, that's not where you'd expect a gig to be...

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 11:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Sommerset house

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 11:25 (twenty-two years ago)

So a pub near the strand

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 11:26 (twenty-two years ago)

The American bar anyone?

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 11:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Jeez! I'm not sure I can afford a pub on the Strand. How about the Cittie Of Yorke on High Holburn? I want to go there for some reason I can't recall.

kate (kate), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 11:27 (twenty-two years ago)

The Lyceum Tavern has the same prices and the same nummy S. Smiths beer as the CoY. However, the problem with choosing a pub on the Strand that night = it will be even busier than usual early doors due to proximity of big popular rock concert very nearby.

(Problem with CoY = booth-based sitting: normally a good thing, in case of a FAP a bad thing).

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 11:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Sigh. I will have to go to the CoY another day. But that gives me a chance to look up in my various "Secret Britain" and "Weird London" books why it is exactly that I want to go there. Is it particularly old? (Didn't look it, I think it's Victorian.) Did any notorious Victorians drink there? I wish I could remember.

kate (kate), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 11:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Anything within reasonable walking distance (10-15 minutes) of said venue will be fine, pref. cheap, obv., and I'd very much like 'em to have Guinness, but other than that I shall leave the decision up to the judgement of you native Londiniumers.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 11:48 (twenty-two years ago)

It's a strange pub, the CoY, it's mock medieval. Its place in history = that's where I watched England beat Germany 5-1. That's probably in some Secret Britain book somewhere. I don't like it very much (there are much better Sam Smiths pubs 5 minutes walk due West and South of the CoY) but it's worth a visit. It's on CAMRA's disastrous historic pub interiors list, out last week.

The Paolozzi sculpture a few doors down is good. As is Oatmeal Stout in bottles, Nick.

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 11:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Oatmeal Stout in bottles

Tim I love yer but I am a 24-year-old man, not a little old lady with a beard.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 11:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Well its on the CAMRA Historic Interiors list what me and Tim were railing against in the Wenlock the other day. Though later we were railing against the blues music that had set up in the bar that drove us away from the lovely beers what they had in there.

The Cheese isn't a million miles from Somerset House. Or The Nell Gwyne (haha - tiny pub alert).

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 11:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Paolozzi statuue = ace, I'd forgotten about that.

modieval?

the booths are good, but seat no more than 6, then everyone else clusters round the end, it's a bit odd, plus the front room, could be any pub anywhere.

chris (chris), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 11:52 (twenty-two years ago)

haha Nell Gwynne. Good idea. Cheese = 7 grillion rooms, so not good place to arrange to meet people you don't know. Isn't the Louise a better plan?

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 11:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Cittie of York roXor!! My old lunchtime haunt in the late 80's for ultra-hot chilli concarnes and gallons of ESP.

Or even closer to Somerset Hs is the Lyceum, my darts pub. I can make 6th/7th or possibly 8th for a return to FAP action! I should like to meet the boy Southall and I haven't even met Kate yet!

Dr. C (Dr. C), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 11:54 (twenty-two years ago)

there are quite a few nice pubs down Fleet Street way, which is still close to somerset house. The cheese has been mentioned, but it's not the only one.

Will Mike be out, and we can have joint birthday celebrations?

Vicky (Vicky), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 12:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I think kate's fascination stems from the fact that the gothic script make the name appear to read Tittie of Yorke.

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 12:26 (twenty-two years ago)

the 7th is my birthday too!

ambrose (ambrose), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 12:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Heh heh, Tittie of Yorke. If it were called Thummie of Yorke, that'd be even better. But no, that's not it. There is something historical about the pub, but I can't remember what. And I'm not a member of CAMRA so that couldn't be it, either.

kate (kate), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 12:31 (twenty-two years ago)

are we going to celebrate it with cake and jelly and ice cream and stuff

(suzy has rather more sensibly suggested the georgian restaurant in broadway market)

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 12:31 (twenty-two years ago)

How is that more sensible than cake and jelly and ice cream?

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 12:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually the Lyceum is for space okay upstairs. Plenty of space (ie the same amount of space as the John Snow f'rinstance).

So let's say the Lyceum.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 12:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I think on the 7th we'll be out dining somewhere and then joinning you lot later. ahem.

chris (chris), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 12:38 (twenty-two years ago)

i'll be in france :-(

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 13:09 (twenty-two years ago)

i will be doing somehintg later that week. dont know what yet though

ambrose (ambrose), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 13:10 (twenty-two years ago)

duh i mean i'll be in france!

toby (not anna) (tsg20), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 13:10 (twenty-two years ago)

But its become U & K to know if Anna will be in France or not.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 13:15 (twenty-two years ago)

i'll be in london but dunno if i can make it - will try to make it...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 15:04 (twenty-two years ago)

http://members.aol.com/Apostrophen2/happy-aua2.jpg

Dada, Tuesday, 8 July 2003 15:07 (twenty-two years ago)

It's U&K that you make it Mr Stelfox!

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 15:13 (twenty-two years ago)

if i'm free i'll deffo try to get down at least for a quick hello as i know, like, no one's faces around here yet!

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 15:30 (twenty-two years ago)

considering some of the real actual faces that's mostly a good thing from your pov

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 15:33 (twenty-two years ago)

well, i'm drop-dead attractive myself so it'll just make me feel even more smug than i already am...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 15:40 (twenty-two years ago)

7th August is Thursday, isn't it? - in which case no can do (cannot do any Thursdays: clashes with my bereavement counselling. I did make an exception for Bryan Ferry at the Groucho Club, but then who wouldn't?).

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 8 July 2003 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

In which case Marcello, how about a quick pint (of OJ) Friday lunchtime before we head back to Devon?

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Not unless you can get up to Hampstead at Friday lunchtime 'cos that's where I work.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 8 July 2003 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Well we're not due to depart Paddington tll about 8:15pm on Friday evening, so is a quick one late Friday afternoon possible?

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 11:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Will 7th happen now that this club thing is on the 6th?

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 15:52 (twenty-two years ago)

It's looking like being a week full of interesting ILx-related events, Doctor. ILxFest 2003. ILxtonbury.

Tim (Tim), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 15:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I will almost certainly make this, as well as the FT club nite the day before. I cannot afford to offer to join you on Berwick Street - it always costs me too much. Wasn't bad on Tuesday, in fact, but that's because I only had, as far as I knew, a spare quarter hour, so only bought 6 CDs there...

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 19:23 (twenty-two years ago)

7th will definitely happen, even if it's just me and Dan! Train tickets and such are bought; I can't make the FT club nite so this is the next bezzie thing.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 9 July 2003 19:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Of course both will happen. We r HardKore.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 10 July 2003 10:14 (twenty-two years ago)

These two nights are just the tip of the iceberg.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 10 July 2003 10:15 (twenty-two years ago)

And we are the Titanic.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 10 July 2003 10:15 (twenty-two years ago)

staff the lifeboats, it's tr*gbr*ther III!!!

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 10 July 2003 12:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Hampstead - I finish work at 5. Paddington - you have to depart at 8:15. Would be too much of a rush on both sides, I think - another time perhaps.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 10 July 2003 13:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah, well. Plenty more time later then.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Thursday, 10 July 2003 13:09 (twenty-two years ago)

three weeks pass...
Resurrect!

This is very close now and I am dead excited. Where are we going? I shall point my mate dan towards this thread so he can peruse and veto your pub suggestions!

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Monday, 4 August 2003 08:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Fingers x-ed my bank card will have come through and I'll be there (and the 6th - 4th bit of a stretch).

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Monday, 4 August 2003 09:00 (twenty-two years ago)

You'd better be William! (Good column on Stylus as usual again today, btw.)

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Monday, 4 August 2003 09:06 (twenty-two years ago)

this is the pub, yes?

http://www.fancyapint.com/thepubs/pub611.htm

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 4 August 2003 09:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Ahhh, the scene of my first FAP, almost a year ago!

This week is mentalism. It's a good job I'm in the mood to spend the whole thing in the pub, isn't it?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 4 August 2003 09:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Looks good. Are we invading the upstairs lounge bar?

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Monday, 4 August 2003 09:13 (twenty-two years ago)

And Swygart, you'd better get that Passantino fella down as well. I used to do the Northants-London Silverlink journey all the time, so he's got no excuse!

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Monday, 4 August 2003 09:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I have bought new shorts to wear in celebration of it being really fuckign hot.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Monday, 4 August 2003 11:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Where in Londinium can I buy a melodica and hopw much will it cost me?

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 12:10 (twenty-two years ago)

BTW, should anyone wish to have my mobile number, feel free to email me for it.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 12:12 (twenty-two years ago)

one of the music ships on Charing cross road will sort you out Nick.

chris (chris), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 12:14 (twenty-two years ago)

wow, ships full of music...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 12:15 (twenty-two years ago)

have you not seen them? they're ace, they sail up the Trafalgar canal to the tottenham court marina.

chris (chris), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 12:15 (twenty-two years ago)

are there PIRATE ships?

[insert pirate radio/pirate cds etcetc jokes here]

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 12:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I shall be a bit late because I am now Ozuing before the FAP (film on at the Renoir). Should be there around 8.30. I have the next day off, so will not be dashing off earlyish, as so often on school nights.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:18 (twenty-two years ago)

We'll be there but after a meal at Moro, so no idea what time we'll get there.

chris (chris), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 07:40 (twenty-two years ago)

For reference, I shall be wearing blue shorts and a white short-sleeved shirt, and I look like this http://www.stylusmagazine.com/staff/photos/nick_southall.jpg only without the gun. And two years older. And with new glasses. But my hair is about the same.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 14:43 (twenty-two years ago)

So, erm, what time are people getting there? When does the FAP start? Very much looking forward to it, yo.

Mark C (Mark C), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 23:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Will be late-doors ca. 8.00pm.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Thursday, 7 August 2003 09:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I will be at the GBBF, so unfortunately won't be able to make it.

RickyT (RickyT), Thursday, 7 August 2003 09:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I'll be late too because I wish to consume actual real culture first.

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 7 August 2003 09:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I am coming to this, early doors probably (ie about 6.30-ish)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 7 August 2003 10:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually, is anyone out there still alive? Especially those who are on their fourth FAP of the past week.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 7 August 2003 10:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I am a trifle jaded so I may not have some of my trademark conversational sparkle.

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 7 August 2003 10:10 (twenty-two years ago)

It'll be my first, so I'll seem new and witty and fasncinating and possibly the only person worth talking to. Hurrah!

Mark C (Mark C), Thursday, 7 August 2003 10:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I am a trifle jaded so I will probably have more conversational sparkle than usual.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 7 August 2003 10:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Huh? Wha? Is this still happening? When should I get there! I want to meet Nick!!! It's only a hop skip and jump from my house so I can be there any time really. I could do with a good boozeup! Woo!

kate (kate), Thursday, 7 August 2003 10:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I am a trifle jaded so I may not have some of my trademark conversational sparkle

This is a good thing. Me spraying all over any more unsuspecting FAPpers would be a trifle embarrasing.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 7 August 2003 10:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Just don't let it mix with your sweat, Matt, I've heard that gets really gross.

Mark C (Mark C), Thursday, 7 August 2003 10:15 (twenty-two years ago)

geeta is i think meeting timh for "real actual" culture then going to consume stevem's DJing (ie not fapping tonight) — update later maybe as she just went out

i think i might miss out, being old and all — we shall see

mark s (mark s), Thursday, 7 August 2003 10:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I will come but won't be able to stay long.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 7 August 2003 10:49 (twenty-two years ago)

therefore for the benefit of Geeta, and anyone else who wants to come (i am now petrified that it will be a quiet one due to the heat), here's how to get there:

get to Tottenham Court Road station

walk west up towards Oxford Street

take the second right which is Rathbone Place

walk up until you get to a junction - straight ahead is Charlotte St, to the right is Percy St - on the right side of the road right on the corner is a newsagents and hopefully you will hear the music coming up from downstairs - walk down the narrow, metal and not very welcoming staircase and you're in the club (be warned, its very VERY small)

and here it is on streetmap

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 7 August 2003 11:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah The Asylum. Many a happy bootleg nite down that hole. (Well one...)

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 7 August 2003 11:23 (twenty-two years ago)

So FAPPing is still in the lyceum, yes?

Do come mark s!

Dr. C (Dr. C), Thursday, 7 August 2003 11:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Your age excuse won't wash, Mark, in that I will be there. Probably not until about 8.30 though, in that I am off to see an Ozu film first (the one Pete talks about on the Do You See? blog section of the new Freaky Trigger) with some friends.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 7 August 2003 12:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Nick (and others) - sorry, but I won't be able to make this - I'm knackered and some summer insect monster has made my left ankle go all stiff and swollen so I'm on sleepy pills too. :( Have a good time and hope to meet you another time!

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 7 August 2003 15:23 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah sorry nick s and dr c and stevem and all, some of my teatime guests were delayed arriving and did not leave till 9.oo-ish, plus i am plumb wore out w.the heat etc

mark s (mark s), Thursday, 7 August 2003 20:04 (twenty-two years ago)

What an ace evening! Geeta is even better than she is. If you see what I mean. Happy joy to all!

Mark C (Mark C), Thursday, 7 August 2003 23:07 (twenty-two years ago)

nice meeting nick and chatting to geeta one last time.

and now she is gone :-(

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 8 August 2003 06:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I missed all of this, for shame. Had to work late and then it was too...much...public...transport for my exhausted/overheated mind. Meh.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Friday, 8 August 2003 07:40 (twenty-two years ago)

:…\

(sorry to miss u nick... next time d00d)

mark s (mark s), Friday, 8 August 2003 07:40 (twenty-two years ago)

It was a good evening indeed. Lovely to meet Nick, and to see members of the party after their marathon drinking week.

chris (chris), Friday, 8 August 2003 07:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I had much fun... in fact I think in some ways it was one of the best FAPs I've been to.

I am sorry for spilling beer all over Pete. I won't be doing impressions of Dave Q doing an impression of a Spanish guitarist doing an impression of Eddie Van Halen again.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 8 August 2003 09:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I would be worried if you ever had call for it. Luckily my leg is not sticky.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 8 August 2003 10:14 (twenty-two years ago)

wish I could have made it along. hope you all had fun (sounds like you did).

j0e (j0e), Friday, 8 August 2003 10:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm going to wow everyone with an impression of Matt DC doing an impression of Dave Q doing an impression of a Spanish guitarist doing an impression of Eddie Van Halen, though.

Mark C (Mark C), Friday, 8 August 2003 10:18 (twenty-two years ago)

STAND BACK!!

mark s (mark s), Friday, 8 August 2003 10:28 (twenty-two years ago)

My mind just exploded.

Anna (Anna), Friday, 8 August 2003 10:28 (twenty-two years ago)

So did mine actually. Which Spanish guitarist? It couldn't be Carlos Santana cuz he's Mexican, and the guy from Extreme is Portuguese

dave q, Friday, 8 August 2003 10:36 (twenty-two years ago)

The guitarist whose record you were very much enjoying in the Spanish Bar on Monday. It may not have involved Eddie Van Halen though, my memory is very vague.

Anyway, whoever it was, his legacy now involves a moist Ptee.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 8 August 2003 10:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd prefer it if the word DAMP was used.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 8 August 2003 10:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah that was a fuckin' awesome record.

dave q, Friday, 8 August 2003 10:49 (twenty-two years ago)

(I actually had a Spanish guitarist lodging for the last while. Him and his Spanish girlfriend. Nice ppl, but I'm so glad they left because they'd spend 10 hours a day in the kitchen! Waking up at 6 to start the preparation of their elaborate 50-course meals. I'd just try and get in there to do a microwave meal and they're like impatient, 'hurry up and get out so I can continue emulsifying these oyster membranes' or whatever hotshit cooks do. Fuckin' Mediterraneans, obsessed with food! And the fridge was always filled with weird yecchy shit. Then again, I'd also find the dishes washed all the time!)

dave q, Friday, 8 August 2003 10:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry, I didn't make it, especially sorry to miss meeting Nick. I went to a film with two of my oldest and best friends (actually on the basis of the last couple of years, my best two friends) and we ended up going for a drink and talking for the rest of the evening. Next time!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 8 August 2003 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

It was a cool evening (well, not, it was a fucking hot and sweaty evening, but you understand I'm sure) and everyone was lovely, even if I was somewhat taken aback with the talk of nympho tweepop fans (we don't get these down in Devon!- everyone likes Reef and is too busy surfing to shag!). Martin + Mark S it was disappointing to miss you both but they seem like good excuses and I'm sure I'll make it to London again soon (when hopefully Marcello's schedule will be more flexible too!). Likewise Tom (serves you right for being tasty to weirdy bugs!), RickyT, dave q etcetera...

Kate I am ashamed that you were too hungover to come shopping yesterday afternoon, but it was lovely to meet you (my mate Dan says he saw The Lollies once and thought they were ace, btw, and if you need a bass-player just ask him [he's very good]). Plus you must get HSA to shave the beard into an Amish stylee now he's done Shaker and Wizard styles!

Geeta popped in to say heloo and wasn't allowed to leave. Likewise it was a shame Julio wasn't there for very long, and I regret I failed to stroke the beard!

Tim H and Dr C it was great to meet you two and have a good chat (even tho I was slightly tipsy by that point - didn't mean to be so rude about Kraftwerk!). Start talking about reggae or films or writing or whatever and shift rapidly towards football = QED! Where has Jimi Doves got the money to buy Vieri et al from?!

MattDC, Mark C and Pete you are all tres lovely and funny guys, esp when Matt is chucking beer over Pete (and Pete's own beer too- Matt's, despite being clanged heartily against Pete's sleever, remained resolutely unspilt!= most impressive). Also Mark C's obsession with knowing who we'd all like to sleep with was equal parts amusing and odd!

Chris & Vicky = hideously nice tho shame I didn't really get to speak to you much - hope the meal was good!

Also I have never seen anyone get quite as excited about a bowl of chips & cheese & gravy as Kate did (how's it spelt?- pooohteeyna?). They were very nice tho- props to Mark C!

All in all Emma and I had a good trip to London (she assures me that Ash were brilliant!), spent far too much money, fell asleep in Oxford Street Top Shop (me, not Emma), ate a great sandwich in Soho Square, met some lovely people, and then got delayed for two hours in sweltering heat last night coming home because the train broke!

Argh, and good to meet William Bloody Swygart too! Tho I am gutted I missed the tag-team with you and Dom (Mark C was most intrigued when I said Dom might not be able to make it cos he was in court!).

**Tim H and Dr C it was great to meet you two and have a good chat (even tho I was slightly tipsy by that point - didn't mean to be so rude about Kraftwerk!)**

Were you? TIM was! ('Mushroom heads!!')

Anyway - good to meet you Nick.
