Tad (llamasfur), Thursday, 10 July 2003 02:10 (twenty-two years ago)

scaredy, you've changed yer nom d'ILX yerself yes?

Yes, I'm not sure how many times now, though. Once or twice. I didn't know ethan was trife cuz I left the board for about a year, I think. I started coming by occasionally in January-ish 2003 and just started posting like crazy last month, I think. I will run out of things to say shortly and you will all have yr peace again...

Scaredy cat (Natola), Thursday, 10 July 2003 02:15 (twenty-two years ago)

where's zemko?

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 10 July 2003 02:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Things changed a lot, btw, in the year that I was on vacation.

Scaredy cat (Natola), Thursday, 10 July 2003 02:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Zemko's new name sounds like a Space Captain.

Cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 10 July 2003 02:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Rainy!

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 10 July 2003 04:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I miss Rainy and toraneko although she's been about a bit lately. Gail was a breath of fresh air although I think Ms.Laura can be gail-like sometimes.

That Girl (thatgirl), Thursday, 10 July 2003 04:45 (twenty-two years ago)

i see rainy and menelaus darcy every week, but i still miss them on ilx. how is katie g these days?

di smith (lucylurex), Thursday, 10 July 2003 04:52 (twenty-two years ago)

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 10 July 2003 04:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 10 July 2003 05:31 (twenty-two years ago)

hi rainy :-)

Tad (llamasfur), Thursday, 10 July 2003 05:44 (twenty-two years ago)

i hate coffee.

di smith (lucylurex), Thursday, 10 July 2003 05:54 (twenty-two years ago)

alarmingly i know what thread that should have been on.

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Thursday, 10 July 2003 05:57 (twenty-two years ago)

zemko=> was at the last fap.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 10 July 2003 06:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't know Ethan was Trife, either. Man am I dumb or something.

When I was reading the crushology thread, I thought "hey, where is Petra?"

I can't think of other people right now (though I know they exist) but every now and then when I am playing Random, I will read something and think "Bloody hell, haven't heard off them in FOREVER!"

kate (kate), Thursday, 10 July 2003 07:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe everyone should deluge Petra w/emails?

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 10 July 2003 07:28 (twenty-two years ago)

firstly, d'oh!

secondly, would that even work, andrew? she mentioned to me her access at the moment ain't too regular.

di smith (lucylurex), Thursday, 10 July 2003 07:49 (twenty-two years ago)

don't you ever go leaving us now, di!

Tad (llamasfur), Thursday, 10 July 2003 07:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Heavens! I've been here all day ;-)

di smith (lucylurex), Thursday, 10 July 2003 08:01 (twenty-two years ago)

take heart, SC and kate -- i wasn't 100% sure myself that ethan = trife until not too long ago trife made reference to some long-ago post of mine that pissed off ethan and i put 2+2 together and shit. (and his visceral reaction re my comparison of him to the icy hot stuntaz.)

Tad (llamasfur), Thursday, 10 July 2003 08:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Di and I are posting like this because we are at Arc and we're playing music here tonight. Di and Duanes's band are having a CD release and the band that I am in is called The Triangles.

rainy (rainy), Thursday, 10 July 2003 08:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Excuse me, I'm trying to post. It's fun to send emails.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 10 July 2003 08:10 (twenty-two years ago)

excuse my poor grammar and punctuation please

rainy (rainy), Thursday, 10 July 2003 08:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Ok. Di I got yr letter!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 10 July 2003 08:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Andrew Thames you great buffoon!

rainy (rainy), Thursday, 10 July 2003 08:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I hope this doesn't mean yr coming back on a permanent basis, McMaster

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 10 July 2003 08:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Thamesy, my boy, you really are an old trout. Kindly shut up.

rainy (rainy), Thursday, 10 July 2003 08:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I take it back, ILX needs that kind of wit

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 10 July 2003 08:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Shit, good luck etc for the gig, too!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 10 July 2003 08:28 (twenty-two years ago)

yes good luck ladies!

Tad (llamasfur), Thursday, 10 July 2003 08:29 (twenty-two years ago)

This gig sounds excellent. I wish I was there to see! Break a leg!

kate (kate), Thursday, 10 July 2003 08:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Duane ain't no lady.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 10 July 2003 08:30 (twenty-two years ago)

ambrose (ambrose), Thursday, 10 July 2003 08:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Mr. Zemko is currently masquerading as Mr. Morningstar. He made a welcome appearance at the most recent FAP. He is upset by matters Cureton.

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 10 July 2003 08:58 (twenty-two years ago)

good luck for the gig & say hi to s1m0n for me!

etc, Thursday, 10 July 2003 09:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Alexander Blair
Robin Carmody
Guy Beckett (? - did I just *invent* him?)
Rebecca space cadet
Jon Cannon
Jeff Worrell (although he did post once about a month ago)

Dr. C (Dr. C), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:06 (twenty-two years ago)

(jeff wz at the fap on tue, rebecca s-c at the most recent oxford fap)

mark s (mark s), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah, Emily Container Drivers. Where'd she go? I saw her in Nottingham last year and she said she didn't have regular internet access, but that's no excuse!

kate (kate), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Ellie is the new Guy Beckett.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:24 (twenty-two years ago)

What does that mean?

Where is Tom Ewing.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:26 (twenty-two years ago)

he is in Xanadu

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:28 (twenty-two years ago)

oops sorry ambrose!

mica schist, aspiring rock critic (bob), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:29 (twenty-two years ago)

It's good to see you, Rainy! Tell Menelaus from me that she should post again.

I am slightly confused, but is dark-haired North American Laura who was really nice when I met her at a FAP in the upstairs room of a London pub still posting? Sorry to be vague, and apologies if she's one of you and I didn't realise, but she roxors.

Liz :x is sadly missed, though at least I see her every week or two, though not all of you have that fortune.

Mark C (Mark C), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:30 (twenty-two years ago)

zemko hates fun

Anne Hedonia (bob), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:30 (twenty-two years ago)

aaargh i hate that zemko

Mae Nad (bob), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Chip Morningstar (bob), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:31 (twenty-two years ago)

oh yes the other ms laura: I think she has done the disappearing act.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:31 (twenty-two years ago)

N. it's just that Ellie has replaced GB as the person I always mention on these threads.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:32 (twenty-two years ago)

silence zemko chip!

cage bot (jdesouza), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:32 (twenty-two years ago)

what abt gale?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:33 (twenty-two years ago)

oh, and lawrence kansas to board

Chip Morningstar (bob), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I assumed that Laura who went to the FAP is the same as I'm Passing Open Windows. Is this wrong?

If a Legends Of ILX page were ever to be created Gale would be the first entry.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:33 (twenty-two years ago)

yes it is. I think the other laura did engineering and was from canada.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:35 (twenty-two years ago)

ANNA ROSE!!!

mark s (mark s), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:35 (twenty-two years ago)

wally klemmer only gets one comeback i imagine

Chip Morningstar (bob), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I used to mention Ellie, but then I decided she is always hovering as last time she instantly reappeared.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Even Guy Beckett turned up again a couple of times, though.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Whatever *did* Happen to B*cky L*c*s, anyway? Or should I just not ask?

kate (kate), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:44 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, bet she was one of the regular ILXORS.

Mr. 'crazy' idea (jdesouza), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not really in the mood. Depressed at the moment...next month it will have been two years. July/August and November/December are always horrible times now.

Wally Klemmer, Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:52 (twenty-two years ago)

i thought Ramosi (I think that's the name) was all set to make a comeback but then he's gone again

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:52 (twenty-two years ago)

kodanshi?

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 10 July 2003 11:59 (twenty-two years ago)

The Geordie Racer should come back more.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Thursday, 10 July 2003 12:02 (twenty-two years ago)

he dose still appear from time to time, but i agree we could do w/a bit more of him. he's a really decent fellow as well!

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 10 July 2003 12:04 (twenty-two years ago)

kodanshi occasionally posts: his email includes the word "capricornelius"

mark s (mark s), Thursday, 10 July 2003 12:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 10 July 2003 12:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Thursday, 10 July 2003 13:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd forgotten about Guy Beckett.

Yr Racer is the source of everything.

the pinefox, Thursday, 10 July 2003 13:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I miss Anna Fielding.

Mark C (Mark C), Thursday, 10 July 2003 13:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't even remember this Guy Beckett character. Man I feel like a wanker. < /shania twain>

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 10 July 2003 13:53 (twenty-two years ago)

That song would be vastly improved by this subtle change in the lyric.

Nicole (Nicole), Thursday, 10 July 2003 13:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Emotional transvestitism!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 10 July 2003 14:07 (twenty-two years ago)

That sounds like the appalling album title that the 80s forgot to come up with (without the exclamation mark).

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 10 July 2003 14:25 (twenty-two years ago)

You make it sound like a bad thing.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 10 July 2003 14:27 (twenty-two years ago)

er, anna posted today (but it was on ILM mark).

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 10 July 2003 14:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe all of these posters are just on their own threads with stupid titles so none of us have opened them...

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 10 July 2003 15:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I only open threads with stupid titles and they aren't there!

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 10 July 2003 15:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Here's a hint as to whose whereabouts I'm curious...erm...about:

"I AM A W3R3W0LFE!"

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 10 July 2003 15:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I have no idea who nickalicious is talking about!

I wonder where I am.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 10 July 2003 15:17 (twenty-two years ago)

cOnnoR!!!!!!!

WErEWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLFFF!

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 10 July 2003 15:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm here!

I don't have the endless amounts of spare time to kill that I used to when I was working so I just lurk around a bit once in a while but rarely post. Who is this other Laura of which you speak? An imposter poster! Word up to Mark C and Julio!

Miss Laura, Thursday, 10 July 2003 15:58 (twenty-two years ago)

What happened to kieth kethykethy?

Mandee, Thursday, 10 July 2003 16:01 (twenty-two years ago)

he still posts to ilm

jess (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 10 July 2003 16:03 (twenty-two years ago)

mrak c: i tell menalus darcy every time i see her atht she sohould post on ile, and she never does. :-( dear gets akllkl apradnoic and islike "why? why do they want me to post??!!" so i think everyone will have to e-mail her and tellher why they want her to post again. sadly i think she finds Diablo more scintillating than ilx.

di smith (lucylurex), Thursday, 10 July 2003 16:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Why did I spell his name "kieth"? I am dumb.

Mandee, Thursday, 10 July 2003 16:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Ahoy Billy! I'm still posting here and there although v. little these days.

Michael B, Thursday, 10 July 2003 16:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Why did I spell his name "kieth"? I am dumb.

I think it is an Oakland County thing.

Nicole (Nicole), Thursday, 10 July 2003 16:09 (twenty-two years ago)

''Who is this other Laura of which you speak?''

the other miss laura posts quite regurlarly and has the 'I'm passing through open windows' name (miss laura is in the email addy, i think).

nice to know you're still around.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 10 July 2003 16:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Julio, I think you'll find the omission of "through" is urgent + key in this phrase.

Hey Miss Laura! Come and visit us again!

Mark C (Mark C), Thursday, 10 July 2003 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Has Melissa disappeared, or by some chance am I simply missing her posts?

j.lu (j.lu), Thursday, 10 July 2003 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Andrew L (Andrew L), Thursday, 10 July 2003 21:04 (twenty-two years ago)

hey, I want to hear that story!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 10 July 2003 21:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I think it was a little longer than two days since I posted anything. Maybe a week or so. I seem to be committed to keeping the blog updated quite regularly (no, really, that's where you to get bored sick by me on an almost daily basis!), but I honestly haven't felt like doing much other Internet stuff. Although, my ego wondered if my name had popped up on here...

ChristineSH (chrissie1068), Thursday, 10 July 2003 21:28 (twenty-two years ago)

"shopped"?

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Friday, 11 July 2003 00:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Thank you, Sam *smile*

Hello Miss Laura - I am the *other* Miss Laura (though in my case it's actually Ms Laura, just to confuse things).

And no, I've never been to a FAP in England at any pub, sadly - that must be the Miss Laura who is further north than me (though I do live with a Canuk, if that helps the situation at all).

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Friday, 11 July 2003 03:24 (twenty-two years ago)

RJG (RJG), Monday, 14 July 2003 15:47 (twenty-two years ago)

She should post more. More Youn, less ***s!

Larcole (Nicole), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 21:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Where's Maryann these days? I wonder if Fritz'll ever come back? And SF Sean has been rather quiet lately, I should give him a call.

Arthur (Arthur), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 23:40 (twenty-two years ago)

And then there's YOU, sir. In for the Friday FAP/Smog show?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 23:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 18 July 2003 11:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Adultery, now, I think

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 18 July 2003 11:35 (twenty-two years ago)

er, roger adultery is the same as roger fascist?!

I don't think so (roger fascist likes free jazz but can't remember fascist having an opinion on anything to do with that)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 18 July 2003 11:40 (twenty-two years ago)

dan- do you happen to know what he changed his name to. I never thought he was that bothered abt other posters complaining abt it.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 18 July 2003 11:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Whoops, I just presumed

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 18 July 2003 11:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Whatever happened to Julio? He was such a nice boy.

Cozen (Cozen), Friday, 18 July 2003 11:47 (twenty-two years ago)

no its ok. fascist was a rock fan. for some reason i just remmebered some of his posts on the rolling stones and doors threads. they were so damn funny and classic!

''Whatever happened to Julio? He was such a nice boy.''

I'm here and i'm a bad man.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 18 July 2003 11:48 (twenty-two years ago)

It's the beard!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 18 July 2003 11:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy beardy.

Cozen (Cozen), Friday, 18 July 2003 11:59 (twenty-two years ago)

The beard is of course inspired by tico's effort ;)

''I don't think so (roger fascist likes free jazz but can't remember fascist having an opinion on anything to do with that)''

sorry roger adultery likes free jazz.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 18 July 2003 12:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, what is with this new Julio?

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 18 July 2003 12:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I want to say Rockist Scientist but I'm not at all certain of that.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 18 July 2003 12:06 (twenty-two years ago)

no but rockist is also a name change (I know his previous name but he might slap me if i said it).

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 18 July 2003 12:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Today is going to be a bad day, the beardophilia is a harbinger of doom.

Larcole (Nicole), Friday, 18 July 2003 12:34 (twenty-two years ago)

''Yeah, what is with this new Julio?''

nothing new abt me.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 18 July 2003 12:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Hi.

Roger Fascist (Roger Fascist), Friday, 18 July 2003 13:03 (twenty-two years ago)

There he is!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 18 July 2003 13:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't understand Dan and Julio's exhange about Rockist Scientist.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 18 July 2003 13:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought Roger Fascist changed his name to Rockist Scientist. I was wrong. FIN

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 18 July 2003 13:09 (twenty-two years ago)

wasn't rockist scientist = deraymi ?
*slap*
ow

Snowy Mann (rdmanston), Friday, 18 July 2003 13:11 (twenty-two years ago)

yes he was (hey i know his real name but he might kill me).

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 18 July 2003 13:46 (twenty-two years ago)

so roger what the fuck did you change yr name to (if you did, unless yr a lurker now)? i miised your 'hello' posts.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 18 July 2003 13:48 (twenty-two years ago)

What is the deal with 'Lar'cole? I think I missed the joke/thread/boat.

bnw (bnw), Friday, 18 July 2003 13:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Nicole is part way through her transformation into 'Lloyd'cole in her efforts to win the affections of the Pinefox.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Friday, 18 July 2003 13:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, it is my first tenative foray into polyamory.

No, really it is because people were getting me and Nichole confused. I switched to Lars because I had used it as a jokey trucker name before, but then someone pointed out it could get confused with Lara thus the switch to Larcole.

Larcole (Nicole), Friday, 18 July 2003 13:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I err, retired myself. I don't think some folks round here could get past the name so I switched. My modest heritage on these boards seemed to get in the way of worthwhile engagement after a while, and I don't really want to dredge it all up again so let's just leave it at that my friend.

Roger Fascist (Roger Fascist), Friday, 18 July 2003 13:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Julio, especially if I buy a handgun.

The fact that Dan has confused me with Roger Fascist makes me wonder how I come across. (Maybe Dan doesn't read the threads I tend to post to the most.)

Rockist Scientist, Friday, 18 July 2003 13:58 (twenty-two years ago)

(Maybe Dan doesn't read the threads I tend to post to the most.)

DINGDINGDINGDINGDING!!!!

That, and I get confused by the letter 'R'.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 18 July 2003 14:00 (twenty-two years ago)

The only time you see my posts is when I am dissing some post-punk band I used to like, or lamely defending DMB from attacks that may not have been made.

Rockist Scientist, Friday, 18 July 2003 14:01 (twenty-two years ago)

YAR YE RIGHT BASTARD

Honestly, it was a case of linking two names that began with 'R'. That was it.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 18 July 2003 14:04 (twenty-two years ago)

''I don't think some folks round here could get past the name so I switched''

to what name BTW?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 18 July 2003 14:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry, I just nearly fell off my chair at Duckyfuzz's reappearance.

kate (kate), Friday, 18 July 2003 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

John Nazi

Roger Fascist (Roger Fascist), Friday, 18 July 2003 14:18 (twenty-two years ago)

larcole, i was hoping the lars thing was inspired by metallica. i feel so disappointed.

di smith (lucylurex), Saturday, 19 July 2003 02:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I may be wrong but I think in the midst of time it was me who started the 'x is actually a 46 year old trucker called Lars' thing. Can't remember if Nicole was x though.

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 19 July 2003 02:22 (twenty-two years ago)

i thought so too!

jess (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 19 July 2003 02:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah ha - it seems I began it here, in reference to Ally, and mark s added the Lars and Nicole bit later.

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 19 July 2003 02:31 (twenty-two years ago)

''John Nazi''

ah I've seen ya ;-)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 19 July 2003 08:03 (twenty-two years ago)

If I went from That Girl to Ms. S. would anyone be too confused?

That Girl (thatgirl), Saturday, 19 July 2003 08:28 (twenty-two years ago)

yes. That Girl is a cool name even w/the Marlo Thomas associations

oops (Oops), Saturday, 19 July 2003 08:32 (twenty-two years ago)

don't listen to buttch there... do it if you wanna.

luna (luna.c), Saturday, 19 July 2003 08:37 (twenty-two years ago)

well at least pick something w/a little more pinache than Ms. S.

oops (Oops), Saturday, 19 July 2003 08:39 (twenty-two years ago)

but she IS Ms. S.

luna (luna.c), Saturday, 19 July 2003 08:42 (twenty-two years ago)

and i AM Mr. V, but it'd make for a boring, non-descript handle...completely unbefitting DDG.

oops (Oops), Saturday, 19 July 2003 08:45 (twenty-two years ago)

mr v? hahahaha

luna (luna.c), Saturday, 19 July 2003 08:45 (twenty-two years ago)

What do you suggest then Oops? I've been Samantha, That Girl and well that's it. What's better then? I like consistency. When I'm in AIM I don't want to have to announce myself.

That Girl (thatgirl), Saturday, 19 July 2003 08:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I liked 'Sam'

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 19 July 2003 10:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I like Sam too, but see nothing wrong with Ms. S.

Larcole (Nicole), Saturday, 19 July 2003 11:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not a big a fan of people using 'Ms' (or Miss, Mrs or Mr) followed by a first name. - it seems kind of cloyingly twee. I guess it's not so bad with just an initial, though.
I wince when people have occasionally addressed me 'Mr Nick'.

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 19 July 2003 11:57 (twenty-two years ago)

You're just lucky they called you Mr.

Larcole (Nicole), Saturday, 19 July 2003 11:59 (twenty-two years ago)

i thought they called him master dastoor?

gareth (gareth), Saturday, 19 July 2003 12:02 (twenty-two years ago)

That sounds like a cool Transformers name, thus unsuitable.

Larcole (Nicole), Saturday, 19 July 2003 12:03 (twenty-two years ago)

"Who will master dastoor?"

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 19 July 2003 12:04 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.friendsreunited.co.uk/image/Main_FriendsReunited_Logo.jpg

Who are these people - does anyone know who they are - who are they?

The Real Halo James, Saturday, 19 July 2003 12:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Richard Griffiths, Margaret Beckett, Eddie Izzard and a minder.

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 19 July 2003 12:25 (twenty-two years ago)

my stepmom's pom was named mr. nicky

little fucker

ron (ron), Saturday, 19 July 2003 15:16 (twenty-two years ago)

the 3rd one on that pic is surely either ant of ant&dec, or someone in the paris angels entourage. as for the 2nd one, well, it would have been nice if someone had thought to give her some eyes instead of those voids. is the 4th really john daly post hair dye thing?

gareth (gareth), Saturday, 19 July 2003 15:31 (twenty-two years ago)

and the first is j.r.r hartley

gareth (gareth), Saturday, 19 July 2003 15:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Is there another Sam, DDG? If not, I think you should go w/that.

oops (Oops), Saturday, 19 July 2003 19:29 (twenty-two years ago)

sam chirombo 3000

mark s (mark s), Saturday, 19 July 2003 19:31 (twenty-two years ago)

But they are so different I'm sure no one would get confused.

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 19 July 2003 19:45 (twenty-two years ago)

The name has been changed.

Texan Sam (thatgirl), Saturday, 19 July 2003 19:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I love it!

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 19 July 2003 19:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd prefer Texas Sam

James Blount (James Blount), Saturday, 19 July 2003 20:04 (twenty-two years ago)

too bad you're not from Houston

oops (Oops), Saturday, 19 July 2003 20:06 (twenty-two years ago)

haha!

Texan Sam (thatgirl), Saturday, 19 July 2003 20:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Texan v Texas, much difference?

Texan Sam (thatgirl), Saturday, 19 July 2003 20:08 (twenty-two years ago)

one carries the "gunfighter" connotations befitting your stature

James Blount (James Blount), Saturday, 19 July 2003 20:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Wow, I'd hate to think I'm projecting "cloyingly twee" by having a "mr." name. I'm like, so anti-twee.

Honestly, I've been thinking of just switching to my first name, Rob, for a while; as it seems I'm the only Rob around here, and I could claim it first! Are there really no other ILXor regulars with such a common name?

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Saturday, 19 July 2003 20:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Diamond isn't a first name though.

There is a Rob. Or there was.

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 19 July 2003 20:45 (twenty-two years ago)

diamond- when i found out yr name and surname my first thought was: 'what a cool movie star type surname this fella has' so my advice is if you choose to switch then go for name and surname (besides I'm one of the few here who have both name and surname and i feel lonely ;-))

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 19 July 2003 21:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Is Diamond yr real last name? Cuz I'm related to some of same (including this guy). Not that it's not a common name.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Saturday, 19 July 2003 21:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha! Movie star - I'm not so sure about that. Gabbneb, my surname is the same as, uh, the guy who wrote Taxi Driver ... perhaps that's where Julio is drawing the connection. He's from the same state as me to! But we're sadly not related. My family is a lot more boring.

Anyway, I would use the full name but the whole reason I started with a psuedonym was that I am job-hunting and concerned about googling, and at the time I thought "Rob" was too nondescript. But it appears I'm the only one of them here, so I may as well claim it. Still I'd hate to lose the connection to all my great insights drunken rambling in the archives.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Saturday, 19 July 2003 22:09 (twenty-two years ago)

(the origin of "Mr. Diamond" is Den of Thieves, James Stewart's book about the 80's insider trading scandal. Stewart says "Mr. Diamond" was the pseudonym under which Dennis Levine deposited funds into his Cayman Island bank account. I just loved the cheekiness of that, especially coming from a guy like Levine who was this sort of lower middle class Jew who wanted so desperately to make it and be accepted amongst the White Shoes Wall Street establishment. Criminal that he was, I admired his outsider tenaciousness)

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Saturday, 19 July 2003 22:16 (twenty-two years ago)

(plus it has the element of intrigue and 12 ft. lizards)

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Saturday, 19 July 2003 22:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Sadly, it make me think of Dominik Diamond.

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 19 July 2003 22:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I have pieced the clues together and know Mr. Diamond's true identity.

Mr. Spade: you have your orders, the sparrow flies at midnight.

James Blount (James Blount), Saturday, 19 July 2003 22:24 (twenty-two years ago)

yikes!

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Saturday, 19 July 2003 22:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Kate did something similar once. It's a dangerous game.

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 19 July 2003 22:33 (twenty-two years ago)

texas sam has a better ring to it. mslaura is twee? wow, no-one is safe.

di smith (lucylurex), Saturday, 19 July 2003 23:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I SMASH YOU ALL WITH TWEE LOVE

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 20 July 2003 00:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I am in a different country, suavely drinking cocktails.

Barry Mysterious (Matt), Sunday, 20 July 2003 00:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Therefore you cannot smash me, hulkington.

Barry Mysterious (Matt), Sunday, 20 July 2003 00:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Nobody named Barry can be mysterious. Well, unless it's a creepy sort of mysterious.

Evil Mystery Man (Oops), Sunday, 20 July 2003 00:32 (twenty-two years ago)

You've no idea how mysterious. I lurk in the shadows that shadows cast. That's when I'm not living it up with jet-setting women.

Barry Mysterious (Matt), Sunday, 20 July 2003 00:45 (twenty-two years ago)

no it's "Barry" Mysterious as in "Quite Enigmatic" but said by a funny little old first-generation immigrant

Millar (Millar), Sunday, 20 July 2003 00:47 (twenty-two years ago)

You like airplane mechanics, eh Barry?

Evil Mystery Man (Oops), Sunday, 20 July 2003 00:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Only ones called Tatiana (Millar has no idea how close he is to the source of my reasoning tho)

Barry Mysterious (Matt), Sunday, 20 July 2003 01:02 (twenty-two years ago)

This is sooooo retarded.

KOLAN MANDOR (Mert), Sunday, 20 July 2003 01:28 (twenty-two years ago)

N.: the "45 year-old trucker" thing is an older interweb meme isn't it? I think I recall it being used on S*nister chat, poss in relation to Pookie / Genevieve (who posted here sometimes and should do some more) (bringing me nicely back on topic).

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 11:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I used my surname at the very beginning, but got the googleph34r and changed to Mark C. It's unimpressive, but at least I'm opinionated and short-tempered enough to make an impression on some.

Tim Popkins - why have you never started a thread, ever?

Mark C (Mark C), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 12:49 (twenty-two years ago)

uh, did James Blount die or something? where is my man?

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Monday, 28 July 2003 02:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Dr C ?

Snowy Mann (rdmanston), Monday, 28 July 2003 12:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Dr C was posting today!

Blount will surely turn up again.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 28 July 2003 12:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I wish Kim Grimstitch would (re)appear more often too

I will second that.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 28 July 2003 13:57 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
did everyone leave?

cºzen (Cozen), Thursday, 30 September 2004 12:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Most people that leave seem to do that thing when they suddenly stick there head back through the door and posts loads for a few days then vanish once again. Bit like Mark S the other week or Rainy ever so often or Lara right now.

Also half the people mentioned on this thread are back and posting regularly. People I do wonder what happened to - Felicity, Toraneko, DG, London Sam, Simeon Bradshaw, probably some others.

Oh, and Hanle y, but I doubt we've seen the last of him.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 30 September 2004 12:19 (twenty-one years ago)

i left, but came back

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 12:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 13:59 (twenty-one years ago)

This sounds like one we should have sorted by now?

Have we sorted this one out?

Can I close this ticket?
