thunderstorms!

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 17:42 (twenty-two years ago)

The things that make covered front porches so classic.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 17:47 (twenty-two years ago)

are you having a thunderstorm?

I don't think we'll have any this week

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

yes, a really loud one!

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

fucking amazin. love em.

Lovester (Lovester), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Everyone at my workplace is pressed up against the glass window watching it right now, which I find kind of scary and weird.

I don't like thunder.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 17:50 (twenty-two years ago)

rain go boom now nyc.

The things that make covered front porches so classic.

or balconies (cantilevers?), yes.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 17:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I always put my DM's on in a thunderstorm, in case the house gets struck by lightening (rubber soles you see).

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 17:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I bet the thunderstorms you all are having now are relatives of the thunderstorms that have been rocking us down here for a couple days. I've never seen my son look at the sky so scared! THUNDER GO BOOM LOUD.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 17:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I want some thunderstorms. :(

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 17:56 (twenty-two years ago)

My parents' Airedale REALLY doesn't like thunder. Sad to watch a big dog shake so much.

Colin Meeder (Mert), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 17:57 (twenty-two years ago)

heavy storms used to spook me as kid sometimes - but it may have been just the dark dense clouds rather than the noise or sporadic bursts of light. electrical storms are mental.

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 17:57 (twenty-two years ago)

thunderstorms are the best thing about summer.

yesterday the sun was out, it was raining light w/thunder, and then a rainbow appeared. all at once. (& i hate summer)

is the thunder in nyc bad? my gf is flying to jfk in a few.

kephm, Tuesday, 22 July 2003 17:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I love the dark clouds, there is something so cheering about the minutes before the rain starts. I love rain and thunderstorms.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 17:59 (twenty-two years ago)

kephm: pretty dramatic, yeah... i hope her flight doesn't get delayed.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 18:00 (twenty-two years ago)

What is the most extreme weather you've ever experience directly?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I love them. They don't happen often enough, sadly.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

i love lightning - used to live on a hill just outside london and when there was a good storm could stand on my balcony and watch the city light up was pretty amazing. classic.

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 18:04 (twenty-two years ago)

so do i: my 36th birthday (= my favourite ever) was topped off by a massive thunderstorm and we all had to scurry down from our picnic on the roof and shortly after (liek abt 35 mins) i fell disastrously in crush with one of the guests at it

actually the moomintroll party thrown me by dr vick's nephews wz possibly a better party, tho as it wz a barbecue i had eaten too much: instead of thunder, a blood-red full moon!!

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 18:05 (twenty-two years ago)

sun

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 18:06 (twenty-two years ago)

best thunderstorm i've seen - camping in the Dolomites, Northern italy. first night, pitch black on a hill, incessant lightning illuminating the village below. pretty cool, tho made me a bit nervous at the time. there was thunder too but not much, and very little rain either.

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 18:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I Love Thunderstorms. One of my most vivid memories of being a kid is swimming in a covered swimming pool in Florida while it rained hard (no lightning though) and then getting out and eating tortilla chips and drinking cold 7-up.

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 18:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Haven't been in a good thunderstorm in a while. There's some sort of collective memory meme in all of us of being somewhere on a late summer afternoon as the clouds billow up and the wind whistles through the grass before the storm hits...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 18:09 (twenty-two years ago)

It's been raining so damn hard that I haven't been able to leave for lunch. I'm hungry.

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 18:10 (twenty-two years ago)

some people are erotically attached to thunderstorms
I might be one of those people
I definitely married one

Neudonym, Tuesday, 22 July 2003 18:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm actually frightened of thunderstorms to this day. None is far too many for me.

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 18:19 (twenty-two years ago)

The coolest is when you're driving towards one. It's perfectly tranquil where you are presently, but up ahead you see this dangerous beast whose den you're about to enter. 'Here it coooooomes' *whooosh*

oops (Oops), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 18:19 (twenty-two years ago)

>There's some sort of collective memory meme in all of us of being
> somewhere on a late summer afternoon as the clouds billow up and
> the wind whistles through the grass before the storm hits...

This happened to me while camping. You could see the wall of rain appoaching. We were not able to get the tent up in time.

Thunderstorms are uber-classic.

fletrejet, Tuesday, 22 July 2003 18:31 (twenty-two years ago)

made our power go out last night for a bit, right as i was in the middle of trying to beat "Jedi Outcast", dammit.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 18:48 (twenty-two years ago)

The sunshine & heat that was present when JBR started this thread have now been replaced by gigantor black clouds & thunder and I'm most pleased. Well, except that my windshield wipers haven't been working lately OH NO!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 18:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Sex during (or just after) thunderstorms, inside with the windows open, ROOOLZ!

Don't google me (Mert), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 18:51 (twenty-two years ago)

i thought that only happened in Dynasty

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 19:02 (twenty-two years ago)

or my house

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 19:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I heart thunderstorms a lot. Been forever since we've had a good one in LA, but I've been in some awesome ones in Tucson and on the road between CA and AZ.

Chris Barrus (Chris Barrus), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 21:03 (twenty-two years ago)

na nana NAA NANA NAA NAA.

Millar (Millar), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 21:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Thunderstorms are a major turn-on. They make me want to run around and blare The Final Frontier at full-volume. And if the thunder is loud enough to be heard over it? OH GOOD GOD YES.

The first thing (and often the ONLY thing) I do when a Tornado warning goes off? I go outside and stare at the sky.

Andy K (Andy K), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 02:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Why I just capitalized tornado is beyond me.

Andy K (Andy K), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 02:28 (twenty-two years ago)

You rang, Millar?

NA (Nick A.), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 14:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Getting caught in a really monstrous thunderstorm while driving and your windshield wipers dying altogether...dud or duderer?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 14:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Big dud -- also big dud when the wiper blades fail, as happened to my wife a few weeks ago. She kept on driving, resulting in the utter destruction of our windshield (and we have an A-Class Mercedes, so that's a big-ass expensive windshield). The cause of all this heartache? We didn't buy Original Mercedes-Benz replacement blades, so the right blade was a few millimeters too long.

Colin Meeder (Mert), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 15:16 (twenty-two years ago)

The storm was great last night.

When I got to work I saw that one of our trees has been sliced in half by lightening.

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 15:23 (twenty-two years ago)

thunderstorms!!

Pabst Blue Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 1 August 2003 19:15 (twenty-two years ago)

very dark

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 1 August 2003 19:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Just had a brief but ferocious one. Now the sun is out again and a cartoon bird is on my shoulder, chirping while I warble a little tune.

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 1 August 2003 19:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I got all excited lat night because it started thundering and lightning, but it only lasted for about 5 minutes. Then it just rained a wimpy little pitter-patter rain :(

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Friday, 1 August 2003 19:26 (twenty-two years ago)

last

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Friday, 1 August 2003 19:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Hail!

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Friday, 1 August 2003 19:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I just stepped in a puddle.

Mary (Mary), Friday, 1 August 2003 19:45 (twenty-two years ago)

We just had big mo'funkin' one here in NYC.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 1 August 2003 19:48 (twenty-two years ago)

really?

Mary (Mary), Friday, 1 August 2003 19:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Indeedy, Mary, where are you???

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 1 August 2003 19:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I just walked 10 blocks to get home in this thunder storm. I am now relaxing by eating cold mac and cheese and wringing out my hair.

Carey (Carey), Friday, 1 August 2003 20:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm here, as is Pabst Blue Ribbon, thread revivalist!

Mary (Mary), Friday, 1 August 2003 20:16 (twenty-two years ago)

there were tornado warning sirens, so i checked a weather site and it said there were "rambunctious thunderstorms" over the great lakes. rambunctious!

JuliaA (j_bdules), Friday, 1 August 2003 20:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Now if only they were bodacious.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 1 August 2003 20:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Dude, that fucking hail needs to stay the fuck away from my car. Betta recognize.

oops (Oops), Friday, 1 August 2003 23:11 (twenty-two years ago)

then stay da fuck outta nebraska

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 1 August 2003 23:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I got caught in the rain. I was soaked, but it turned out ok, because I saw Paul at the cafe where I went to escape.

rosemary (rosemary), Saturday, 2 August 2003 00:54 (twenty-two years ago)

30-second sunshower

gabbneb (gabbneb), Monday, 4 August 2003 17:37 (twenty-two years ago)

that was so cute!

Mary (Mary), Monday, 4 August 2003 17:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Asymmetric Cocktails (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 4 August 2003 17:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 4 August 2003 18:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Asymmetric Cocktails (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 4 August 2003 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

monsoon!

Mary (Mary), Monday, 4 August 2003 19:47 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah it's crazy!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 4 August 2003 19:50 (twenty-two years ago)

JESUS MOTHERFUCKING CHRIST my entire street is flooded over, I AM TRAPPED AT WORK. This is like all of my worst nightmares coming true! Where is Noah when I need him?

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 4 August 2003 19:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Your Doctor Of Love is right here, baby.
http://www.halfjew.com/images/celebrities/wylie.jpg

oops (Oops), Monday, 4 August 2003 20:10 (twenty-two years ago)

My questionably hot foreign neighbor got stuck outside the building and I just let him in all wet and thankful. There is a huge window open on the uppermost floor and we cannot reach it to close it so there is water cascading down the stairs and pouring from the banisters. It's awesome and I'm glad that I am all snug and dry in my apartment.

Carey (Carey), Monday, 4 August 2003 20:15 (twenty-two years ago)

i anticipate heavy storms this weekend. cos its gonna be so dam hot this week, and i'm supposed to be going to a barbecue...

stevem (blueski), Monday, 4 August 2003 20:18 (twenty-two years ago)

eight months pass...
there's thunder but no rain yet.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

someone set us up the rain!!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

well, tell them to get on with it, the water table's still pretty low!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Ed just got home and is SOAKING. I am about to brave the elements to go to the ICA for the Beck's Futures/Beta Band shindig.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

View from my window at 6.30pm today - just as the parkfootball is due to start.

http://idisk.mac.com/stephentrousse/Public/thunder.JPG

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

there's rain in hammersmith.

i hate thunderstorms - too many electronic things plugged into tv aerial or telephone, always gives me the fear.

koogs (koogs), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

It actually snowed this morning! After enjoying lovely weather the past week or so this came as a nasty shock.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

oh, I shoulda looked out the window properly (damn net curtains, how British, I know). It is raining!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

oh yeah, koogs is right (not about thunderstorms, they're great) but about the electric stuff, better put my DM's on.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm enjoying it. I heard some girls outside screaming at the flashes and noise earlier.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 16:42 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't hate the thunder / lightning / buckets of rain etc (although it is stopping me from leaving work at the mo) i just hate the possibility of financial ruin. nothing a surge protector wouldn't cure.

koogs (koogs), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 17:09 (twenty-two years ago)

"he entered the forest and the phantoms came to meet him"

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 21:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I've had my window open since I got back from college and the rain just rattling about outside, with little barks and growls of thunder and missable blinks of lightning, was the happiest noise I could want to hear.

cis (cis), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 21:16 (twenty-two years ago)

In the middle of a hailstorm here in Seattle. Ah, being inside is a nice thing. (Good thing chris and jody left when they did!) Damn, pea sized.

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 22:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I saw forked lightning! In London! Last time is saw forked lighting was in Miami in 1992. Farringdon street was 6 inches deep in water; biblically quick flood.

Dave B (daveb), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 07:44 (twenty-two years ago)

It was ker-azy last night! (Got soaked on the walk to work this morning but that's another story.)

I was trying to record, and there was all this mad crazy noise all over the line. Distortion where there shouldn't be distortion and spikes where I wasn't even singing "B" or "P". Look out the window and there's flashes of lightening everywhere.

"Can't record, too much electrical noise," I complain, slouching out to the living room, only to find HSA lying on the balcony with his antenna stuck out the scaffolding, recording the electrical spikes gushing "Yes, yes, beautiful electrical noise, oh yes..."

Sigh.

Super-Kate (kate), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 07:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I had to go get my bus at the EXACT MOMENT the hail component entered the thunderstorm equation; I've never heard such loud rain on a Routemaster roof and it was impossible to see more than about ten feet ahead. Luckily by the time I got to the stop closest to the ICA the rain had all but stopped and utterly drenched adolescent tourists were already posing for wet-dog photos. And eww eww it is the worst thing ever to get a soaker from stepping into a great big puddle in stilettoes.

On the bright side the chaos ensured TWO FREE ROUTEMASTER RIDES 'cos the conductor never quite made it upstairs.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 08:20 (twenty-two years ago)

two weeks pass...
whoa dudes

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 18:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Does it storm in NYC?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 18:21 (twenty-two years ago)

what, is it crazy uptown again? Downtown we got nothin'.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 18:22 (twenty-two years ago)

dude Ned people die in NYC thunderstorms!

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 18:22 (twenty-two years ago)

hail, torrential rain, patchy sun/cloud mix, insane thunder and lightning.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 18:23 (twenty-two years ago)

That would be a worry, Stence. (I do know it storms there, I meant more *right this second*.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 18:23 (twenty-two years ago)

well like I said down here we got nothin'. Midtown gets all the fun.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 18:24 (twenty-two years ago)

On Sunday I saw some pretty bitchin' lightning while standing in a baseball field. It looked like when you put your hand on one of those electric orb things they sell at Spencer's and other 'wacky' mall stores. It was followed by a huge rainbow that went from horizon to horizon, and the oddest, eeriest lighting I've experienced in a long time. Huge patches of deep orange.

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 18:25 (twenty-two years ago)

second day in a row

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 18:26 (twenty-two years ago)

of the nothing, I mean

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 18:27 (twenty-two years ago)

i am as irrational as a two-year old when it comes to lightning. if i could hide under my desk without looking silly, i'd be there.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 18:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I miss the rain and storms, the weather is quite placid here now. A storm can make an otherwise humdrum existence seem just a little more exciting.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 18:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I was in a cab up the FDR during the first half hour of Monday night's craziness. It seemed like lightning was hitting the lightposts on the side of the road. Pretty cool.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 18:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Nothing compares to having two, large, cowardly dogs climb on you when the thunder gets too loud.

dave225 (Dave225), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 18:36 (twenty-two years ago)

"nothing"? WTF? I should make a run for the subway immediately and head straight downtown then. In Wash. Heights we are getting hail and pouring rain and thunder so loud that it is setting off every fucking car alarm on the street (considering that I live above a police parking lot and this neighborhood is home to apparently all of the livery cab drivers in manhattan, this is A FUCKLOAD OF CAR ALARMS). I couldn't even HEAR what was going on on Pokemon thanks to the noise!

Allyzay, Wednesday, 12 May 2004 19:46 (twenty-two years ago)

it's still mostly just threatening here with a little bit of rain, more than actually causing apocalyptic destruction.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 19:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm just thanking god right now that I chose to lock myself out of my apartment this MORNING instead of this afternoon. Where the hell did this weather even come from? It was gorgeous earlier.

Allyzay, Wednesday, 12 May 2004 19:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I blame Canada. Cold fronts always come from there.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 19:54 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm freaked out. weather like this makes me think that it's the end times.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 19:59 (twenty-two years ago)

It will only be the end times if there's unrest and turbulence in the Middle East and our trusted institutions are failing us.

What?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:00 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah I was gonna say, Dubya having nuclear access codes scares me way more than any piddling thunderstorm.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:01 (twenty-two years ago)

also are thunderstorms yet another battleground in the "war between the sexes?" All the dudes in the office seem to be like "Bring it on!" while the ladies are like "yaaaaaahooooly shit!"

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:03 (twenty-two years ago)

i love thunderstorms so much i started a whole thread about 'em!

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:08 (twenty-two years ago)

you are the glorious exception to the rule, JBR.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:09 (twenty-two years ago)

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:16 (twenty-two years ago)

THAR SHE BLOWS

sexyDancer, Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I know other women who love storms.
The sky to the west is looking awfully mean right about now.

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't have problems with storms, I have problems with 400 car alarms.

They've all gone off now, though.

Allyzay, Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:19 (twenty-two years ago)

It sure is dark outside. Like the apocalypse or something.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:37 (twenty-two years ago)

It's probably just some scummy marketing scheme for that "Day After Tomorrow" movie.

sexyDancer, Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:40 (twenty-two years ago)

i enjoy storms if i'm out in the country, but in the city it feels menacing. plus i have to go out in it to go home, and i'm extremely paranoid about getting struck by lightning.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:44 (twenty-two years ago)

but lauren you're nowhere close to being the tallest object in Manhattan!

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:45 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm wearing heels today.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm envious. I wish there was a thunderstorm here right now.

kirsten (kirsten), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm envious. I wish there was a thunderstorm here right now. It's all sunny and warm and stupid here.

kirsten (kirsten), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Oopsies.

kirsten (kirsten), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I've had both today, kirsten!

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Coincidentally, this article on last year's hailstorm/snow in South Central LA just ran.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 21:05 (twenty-two years ago)

There are like direct lightning hits right outside my window right now.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Sunday, 16 May 2004 01:36 (twenty-two years ago)

That's rather ominous.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Sunday, 16 May 2004 01:39 (twenty-two years ago)

well, ok, not right outside. but pretty close.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Sunday, 16 May 2004 01:41 (twenty-two years ago)

i got caught in this tonight. it was a doozy. for the best though; i kinda needed a shower after trudging around in the heat all day.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 16 May 2004 02:26 (twenty-two years ago)

thunderstorms!

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 24 May 2004 22:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I wish we had thunderstorms. The Bay Area doesn't have "weather", it would seem.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 24 May 2004 22:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Are they big? Are they loud? Is it dark and moody?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 24 May 2004 22:23 (twenty-two years ago)

It's a bright and vivacious t'storm, with the sun still peaking through the clouds, and the sky a luminescent white color.

benito mussolinington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 25 June 2004 20:51 (twenty-one years ago)

s.c., what does it look like in brooklyn? in midtown there's a heavy cloud cover, rumbling thunder, and a yellow-green cast to the air.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 25 June 2004 20:54 (twenty-one years ago)

uh, it's dark, but not dark-dark.

We never get thunderstorms! Fuck fuck fuck the Bay Area. I"M QUITTING IT FOREVER.

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Friday, 25 June 2004 21:04 (twenty-one years ago)

how common are thunderstorms in the UK?

mookieproof (mookieproof), Friday, 25 June 2004 21:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Not that common. Not in london, anyway. maybe 5-10 a year. Some big huge biblical ones, though. With buckets of lovely RAIN.

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Friday, 25 June 2004 21:26 (twenty-one years ago)

i will trade the foul humidity of eastern swamps for the bay area anytime--although the last time i was there (last september) it was fucking 95 F...

mookieproof (mookieproof), Friday, 25 June 2004 21:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't remember a biblical thunderstorm in the UK. I'd also say twice a year max do we have an even half decent electrical storm. Boo.

Markelby (Mark C), Saturday, 26 June 2004 12:24 (twenty-one years ago)

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 26 June 2004 12:29 (twenty-one years ago)

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Man, and I've got to walk to Oxford Street for this Plan B thing...

For the past two weeks, I've been thinking that rain means god is on my side (ex boyfriend on holiday with new love, I want it pissing down!) but today I'm cross about this coz I've got no jacket or umbrella.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

god's back! it's stopped raining now.

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

That was wicked. I was out running errands until 5 minutes before the clouds burst. LIVIN' ON THE EDGE DUDERS

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 15:47 (twenty-one years ago)

six months pass...
We've had rain for the last couple of days but the lightning and thunder just kicked in early this morning -- slept through a lot of it but am awake now just before dawn and the flashes and roars have been incredible. :-)
