electric sound of jim (electricsound), Monday, 4 August 2003 11:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Meh, official status from this camp is that the girls are not hot. The one on the right has potential "that was only a bad photo" value. Potentially.

Andrew (enneff), Monday, 4 August 2003 11:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Tuomas, my friend said that you look "unbelievably Finnish". I don't know whether this is a compliment or not.

Bob Shaw (Bob Shaw), Monday, 4 August 2003 12:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I no longer find Colin Farrell attractive.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 4 August 2003 13:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I am unmoved by Ally's revelation.

Colin Meeder (Mert), Monday, 4 August 2003 14:07 (twenty-two years ago)

teeny (teeny), Monday, 4 August 2003 14:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Hahaha! Andrew, it's time for you to start living the Gareth lifestyle, if you get what I mean.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 4 August 2003 15:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Love the new naturally curly hairstyle, Ally.

Mary (Mary), Monday, 4 August 2003 15:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I loved it til I discovered how matted it became if you didn't lie perfectly still in bed!

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 4 August 2003 15:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Wow I probably shouldn't have phrased it like that!

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 4 August 2003 15:33 (twenty-two years ago)

The alternative caption was "The goggles, they do nothing!"

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 4 August 2003 15:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, I understand that, which is why I was laughing. Do I have to start calling you Captain Obvious?

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 4 August 2003 15:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Tres 70's...

ModJ, Monday, 4 August 2003 15:45 (twenty-two years ago)

stevem (blueski), Monday, 4 August 2003 15:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Now that's cruel.

Larcole (Nicole), Monday, 4 August 2003 15:49 (twenty-two years ago)

It's frightening that I have a nearly identical picture, but it's at my friend's house, not a bar.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 4 August 2003 15:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Also: the glasses don't work that well with proper glasses, and they're really uncomfortable in that situation, and some stuff doesn't work, but Jesus Wow, a properly put together 3-D film (such as Spy Kids 3-D) is one of the best things ever.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 4 August 2003 15:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I've seen similar things happen after much booze. I'm coming back as a chair in the next life.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 4 August 2003 15:51 (twenty-two years ago)

luna (luna.c), Monday, 4 August 2003 16:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I have seen these people in person except jel and I'm sorry but you are quite wrong.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 4 August 2003 16:05 (twenty-two years ago)

when i saw "gratuitous self love" in the title, i thought people were gonna post pics of their "wank faces", you know, the face you make when your whackin it off. that'd be a better thread. but instead i get colin farrell and nikka costa...

Bob Shaw (Bob Shaw), Monday, 4 August 2003 16:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Well? One of them must tickle yr fancy. But a picture out, dude. Embrace it.

Mod, Monday, 4 August 2003 16:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Bob Shaw (Bob Shaw), Monday, 4 August 2003 16:37 (twenty-two years ago)

It's more the annoyance at having YET ANOTHER amusing thread turn completely gross and disgusting within 10 minutes.

Andrew wtf is that picture!

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 4 August 2003 16:47 (twenty-two years ago)

And whos fault is that, Ally? You can't deny that you're largely responsible.

Andrew (enneff), Monday, 4 August 2003 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, admittedly posting pictures that look like Nikka Costa is gross and disgusting.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 4 August 2003 16:50 (twenty-two years ago)

A blurry picture from the other day:

http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-8/317688/inshock.jpg

Is this a mirage?! Is this really happening!?

Mandee, Monday, 4 August 2003 21:11 (twenty-two years ago)

oh my god he is neil! i worship you!

Bob Shaw (Bob Shaw), Monday, 4 August 2003 21:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha, N. is going to have to redo his montage of people he looks like again to include Neil Young.

(I have never seen this resemblance in real life, but jeez, does he look like him in that photo)

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 4 August 2003 21:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Mandee wins for that first pic alone

Millar (Millar), Monday, 4 August 2003 21:14 (twenty-two years ago)

get the man to recreate the album cover from On The Beach!

Bob Shaw (Bob Shaw), Monday, 4 August 2003 21:14 (twenty-two years ago)

'Spookily' I am listening to Neil Young at the moment.

I am so getting a haircut.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 4 August 2003 21:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Mandee and friend look like mice in that photo.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 4 August 2003 21:19 (twenty-two years ago)

"Friend", Nick? Are you too good to even type my name now?

kirsten (kirsten), Monday, 4 August 2003 21:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Is that Kirsten in that photo with Mandee?

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 4 August 2003 21:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned, you look like someone has a penalty kick with your name on it.

Carey (Carey), Monday, 4 August 2003 21:22 (twenty-two years ago)

At first I thought it was you then I decided it wasn't. How old is that picture?

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 4 August 2003 21:23 (twenty-two years ago)

It's only a little over a year old! Shame on you, Mr. Dastoor.

kirsten (kirsten), Monday, 4 August 2003 21:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned, you look like someone has a penalty kick with your name on it.

For that wise statement, Carey, here's a huge slice of cheesecake.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 4 August 2003 21:27 (twenty-two years ago)

RJG I have just realised how creepy your hair is in that photo of us. You look like a Dutch nihilist.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 4 August 2003 21:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Kirsten and I both had style mullets at the time. She put hers in little pigtails and I shamelessly let mine blow in the wind.

Mandee, Monday, 4 August 2003 21:28 (twenty-two years ago)

what on earth do you mean, N.?

RJG (RJG), Monday, 4 August 2003 21:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Carey and Nichole are sadly misguided.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 4 August 2003 21:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Your friend should so have rollerskates on in that dog walking picture.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 4 August 2003 21:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Mandee and I were so young and WITH-IT! Oh, to be young again and remember all the words to the Family Matters theme song.

kirsten (kirsten), Monday, 4 August 2003 21:30 (twenty-two years ago)

RJG, your hair is triangular. Or tetrahedral. Or something. That is possibly the worst photo I've seen of Ally C. And N. has actually turned into Neil Young when I wasn't looking.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 4 August 2003 21:31 (twenty-two years ago)

And all I see, is a flowering wheel...

Mandee, Monday, 4 August 2003 21:33 (twenty-two years ago)

my hair is fine and so is cook, FYI.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 4 August 2003 21:33 (twenty-two years ago)

REAL LOVE BURSTIN' OUTTA EVERY SEAM!

kirsten (kirsten), Monday, 4 August 2003 21:34 (twenty-two years ago)

RJG, you're not disagreeing with me about N., I see. However, I was being observant, not critical. You know I think you and Cookie are lovely :)

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 4 August 2003 21:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Quit flirting, you guys.

Mandee, Monday, 4 August 2003 21:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I was actually gonna post a pic of myself in this thread but honestly, I dont see the point anymore :-(

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 4 August 2003 21:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, this thread has just become the answer to "Is ILX too pally"

*holds hands up*

Should we start another photo thread for photos? (We just bought a scanner the other day, but I have yet to locate a photo of me past the age of six that is not hideous).

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 4 August 2003 21:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't believe nobody has mentioned how tiny and adorable my dog is! I mean, come on!

kirsten (kirsten), Monday, 4 August 2003 22:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris: Was that a special Bloomsday performance?

Ha! No, it was just silliness at my birthday part on Saturday.

Chris P (Chris P), Monday, 4 August 2003 22:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Kirsten, your dog looks like my next door neighbour's dog which I HATE. But your dog is thousands of miles away and therefore doesn't keep me awake at night barking, nor nip at my ankles when I'm trying to let myself into the house. Hence your dog is cute :)

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 4 August 2003 22:08 (twenty-two years ago)

My dog neither barks nor nips at ankles. She just sits on laps and naps. She is so sweet and only four and half pounds!

http://www.imagemagician.com/images/grimstitch/cap_115.jpg

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 01:06 (twenty-two years ago)

That's Kim calibrating the hot orange in real-time there.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 01:09 (twenty-two years ago)

kirsten I can totally hear your accent!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 01:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Since you want a general picture of myself....

http://deanna.ladyinterference.com/ilx/overjoyed.jpg

This is from my high school graduation. To your left -- my chemistry teacher, also a Ph.D., also a nun (so she was Sister Dr. [insert name here]). To your right -- our school principal, also a nun. I look damned happy to be in their company here.

(Also, now you know what my hair looks like if I let it down. This is why I keep it up in a ponytail all the time, practically. I do not want to look this scary 24/7. And could I look even MORE ethnically correct?)

*sighs* I want to look like the rest of you ILX wimmins.

Just Deanna (Dee the Lurker), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 01:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Y'know, I guess it seems redundant to describe a shirt that can be seen there, but I felt I had to because the colour combination is in fact SO ugly that the webcam actually seemed to have distortion troubles rendering it properly.

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 01:15 (twenty-two years ago)

My favorite non-T-shirt shirt is that exact shade of orange, but without anything else there to take away from the power and majesty of overwhelming orangeitude.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 01:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Tracer Hand: I HAVE no accent.

kirsten (kirsten), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 01:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I actually kinda like it, Kim

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 01:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh goodness, that's a small-looking picture I posted.

Here's the same picture but in a larger, easier-to-groan-over size:

http://deanna.ladyinterference.com/ilx/overjoyed[lg].jpg

Just Deanna (Dee the Lurker), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 01:21 (twenty-two years ago)

That is a really cute picture, Dee.

Larcole (Nicole), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 01:22 (twenty-two years ago)

You think? I'm pleasantly surprised you feel that way, dear.

Interestingly, I look exactly that same way today. If I were to remove my bangs (ok you international readers, that would be FRINGE, not that naughty thing) and glasses and take down my ponytail, that would be Me Today.

Just Deanna (Dee the Lurker), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 01:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Dee, you know I think you're pretty - and that is a very cute pic!

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 01:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Wot Larcole and Luna sez. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 01:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I had a funny chat log all prepared and formatted in which another Andrew and I whimsically discuss the hotness of ILX wimmins. Then my browser ate it. Oh well.

Andrew (enneff), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 02:14 (twenty-two years ago)

My posting frequency is barely enough to lift me above lurker status, but I'll join in the narcissism anyway. Here's a pic my significant other snapped. It's seriously emo. I hope I will be forgiven that when I stand in judgment before the gods of ILX.

Here's another one:

Sorry they're so small... they're LJ pics. But then perhaps it's for the best.

justin s., Tuesday, 5 August 2003 02:53 (twenty-two years ago)

It depends if you count RJG's hair, Mary.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 06:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Tuomas, my friend said that you look "unbelievably Finnish". I don't know whether this is a compliment or not.

I guess I do, since I have a greyish/brownish hair and facial features that look more Russian than Scandinavian. Finns originally came here from the east, so we have more Eastern blood in our veins than Scandinavian.

but you get to hang around with hot gothy girls!

Meh, official status from this camp is that the girls are not hot. The one on the right has potential "that was only a bad photo" value. Potentially.

Actually, she is kinda cute, if you prefer goth girls (I don't). Here's a better picture of her.

http://www.lammaz.net/leiritapaaminen/small_0035.jpg

Oh, and managed to find another picture of me taken at the same occasion. I look even more stupid in this one, the flashlight reflects from my mouth so it looks like I have two gold teeth. I hope this pic isn't as big as the previous one...

http://www.lammaz.net/leiritapaaminen/original_0036.jpg

Tuomas (Tuomas), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 10:35 (twenty-two years ago)

It is. Sorry.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 10:36 (twenty-two years ago)

hot

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 10:39 (twenty-two years ago)

if you count my hair then I am five inches taller than you instead of just two.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 10:44 (twenty-two years ago)

TS: RJG's hair vs. N.'s hair.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 12:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I think nick's hair is good for him and I am comfortable with my own.

what I'd really like to see, though, would a cross between the two.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 12:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Tuomas, she is quite cute.

me rolling down a beach

http://www.base58.com/misc/beachroll.gif

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 13:10 (twenty-two years ago)

That is awesome. That's what this thread needs more of, beach-rolling action. And pirates, but that almost goes without saying.

Larcole (Nicole), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 13:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Steve! Isn't that from a Coldplay video?

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 13:15 (twenty-two years ago)

jel you don't know the half of it...

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 13:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I rolled down a hill the other day. It's wicked fun, isn't it?

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 13:21 (twenty-two years ago)

There should be a hill-rolling FAP.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 13:23 (twenty-two years ago)

oh, ally, did you mean "third from the left is a cross between the two" there?

if so, I do not think you look like a bearded lady.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 13:29 (twenty-two years ago)

My dad used to always tell me I'd get "chiggers" from hill-rolling. I still haven't figured out what that means.

Mandee, Tuesday, 5 August 2003 13:29 (twenty-two years ago)

chiggers

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 13:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, RJG, way to get the joke. That's a lady? I thought it was a metaphorical representation of Tom's beard.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 13:31 (twenty-two years ago)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 14:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Jan, Your daughters are adorable little fashionistas!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 14:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha Ally has totally got anime smile in that picture.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 14:18 (twenty-two years ago)

That's how I always smile.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 14:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh and that picture with the kids is freaking adorable (I x-posted cos it took me so long to find the pic with bnw for some reason)--I want portraits with bubbles!

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 14:36 (twenty-two years ago)

haha teeny you're awesome. I wish I had that power, I'd be like Cyclops and just shoot them all with my lazer eyes.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 14:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Teeny, you look lovely. However, that's not a real shock as ILX as already a model's love den.

Carey and Nichole are sadly misguided.

Riot grrls have amazing powers of perception.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 14:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Show me where either of you have claimed this mantle in the past and I will consider it.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 15:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Carey is a proclaimed riot grrl (see Friendster testimonials); I always was one. However, tis not my fault if you couldn't see the neon sign.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 15:20 (twenty-two years ago)

*peers closely at screen, concludes that there is confusion*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 15:23 (twenty-two years ago)

*wiping off Ned's glasses* Amazing that you can't see the 20 foot sign right in front of you. Terrible, that.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 15:30 (twenty-two years ago)

WTF #1, is that the Radiohead-Sponsored Indy 500 Competition Racing Van or something?

WTF #2, I thought you wore glasses Teeny! (and UBER-MEGA-ROWR as if you didn't know!)

WTF #3, I have pants that look like Kim's shirt...velvet pants. :O

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 15:58 (twenty-two years ago)

What, Radiohead aren't allowed to have a Mystery Machine? What in the world.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 15:59 (twenty-two years ago)

thanks nickalicious et al for the nice ego rubbin! I do wear glasses but it's not a very strong perscription so I take them off a lot too.

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 16:03 (twenty-two years ago)

teeny, do you color your hair? If so what do you use? That's pretty close to the color my hair used to be and I was trying to dye it back and it hasn't been working at all since I put black on it.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 16:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Teeny in New ILX It Girl shokkahhh.

ModJ, Tuesday, 5 August 2003 16:11 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, in fact I dyed it the day before I took that picture! So it will probably fade a little. Unfortunately, it's Herbal Essences (I forgot about the annoying ad campaign and my subsequent refusal to buy said product). I'm pretty sure it's Radiant Ruby. My hair was lighter, so I'm not sure it would work as well if your hair is darker.

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 16:14 (twenty-two years ago)

jimmy: stopitstopitstopit yr making me blush!

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 16:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Radiohead Mystery Machine? Well then...

Thom = Velma
Ed = Fred
Johnny = Daphne
Colin = Shaggy
Phil = Scooby
(Nigel Godrich = Scrappy)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 16:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Scrappy is so horrible, why do they even have him?

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 16:22 (twenty-two years ago)

TO KICK.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Teeny, I've used Herbal Essences as well: Beyond Cherry. (Too expensive, though!)

Ally, I normally have dark hair and that shade works pretty well. Tis #49, I think.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

No, to stomp.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Scrappy was the Great Gazoo of Scooby-Doo. Or the Poochie, if you will.

Larcole (Nicole), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

And here is thought Shaggy was the human bean-bag.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Scrappy is great. I like Scrappy.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Jel, I love you, but now you speak confusion.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 16:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually nick, I kinda pictured YOU as ILX's Shaggy.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 16:30 (twenty-two years ago)

That response makes no sense, nickalicious is not in Radiohead, Sean.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 16:31 (twenty-two years ago)

It was an aside, my friend.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

no! the episodes w/ scrappy were the worst scooby-do episides of all, the heralding of the artistic decline. he was just SO annoying, the voice, and he didn't really do anything as far as solving the mystery went - they just made it look like he was playing a part but he was just like a little mascot or something i HATED him

Vic (Vic), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned, I dunno, Scooby Doo was on this afternoon and I was thinking that it was so terrible what they did to Scrappy in the movie. Scrappy added a certain dynamic, he was brave, he had Scobby and Shaggy's best interests at heart (unlike Daphne and Fred).

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually nick, I kinda pictured YOU as ILX's Shaggy.

See Sean, I'm never that squishy; too many sharp edges.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

(if it makes it any more clear, replace my comment above with "Actually, it's odd that you should bring up Scooby Doo characters, nickalicious, because after seeing that one photograph of you with chin sticking out, I've always thought of your as ILX's version of Shaggy!" Better?)

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

he had Scobby and Shaggy's best interests at heart (unlike Daphne and Fred).

Jel, with that kind of reasoning, you'd have to add in Velma, as well.

Well, it's not better because it's only been said about 40,000 times on ILX before, where have you been? It's sort of like if nickalicious posted for no really good reason, btw Crudders, you look like Albini! Do you see? But since we're doing this, pick ILXors to be the rest of the characters!

Tuomas, if you or your friends don't want to pictures to be seen by the world, maybe they shouldn't have publicly posted them on the Internet?

I know that people can check the properties of a picture I post, and if that pic came from a photo gallery, they can trace back to that gallery; Andrew did so, and posted another picture from that gallery without asking me (it's not even my gallery). But just because you can do so doesn't mean you should; I thought this would be rather obvious. I'm not mad at Andrew or anything, since the photos in the gallery are quite innocent, but it's a matter of principle - if I'd wanted people to see the whole gallery I would've posted a link to it.

Yes, I know Internet is a public place, and if I wouldn't have wanted anyone to see the gallery, I wouldn't have posted any of the pics in the first place. But I've come to think of ILX as community of trustworthy people, so I thought I could post pictures here without anyone tracing them back to their origin. As I said, I'm not mad at Andrew, it's just a question of principles I think should apply here.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Thursday, 7 August 2003 11:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm kind of with Tuomas on this one--just because you upload a picture doesn't mean you want it actually posted up with people making pervy comments about your friends. It'd be another thing if Tuomas actually posted the extra pictures himself but ya'all source coded it to look, which is FINE AND DANDY, but then posting them up? That doesn't seem at all weird?

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 7 August 2003 12:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought I could post pictures here without anyone tracing them back to their origin.

Tracing pix back to their origin and poking about to see what else is interesting there is one of my favorite hobbies, and something I expect anyone on ILX to be able to (and likely to) do. It's the sort of thing you do if you want to find out more about someone, like googling their name.

Ally, it seems weird because it isn't often done (at least, not when the person doing the linking is right there; it's done all the time when it's some random site) but I'm not sure that it's wrong. The turning-friend-into-object-of-pervdom might be wrong, but maybe not. I'm not as much a victim of pervs, so what do I know?

Chris P (Chris P), Thursday, 7 August 2003 14:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I would very occasionally look at other pictures in an album or whatever, but I wouldn't then post them back here. I think people can expect to choose what of theirs people can view directly on a thread, even if they have pix somewhere theoretically public.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 7 August 2003 15:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, I'm not saying at all that looking through galleries is wrong, that's totally not what I'm saying. I don't personally really do that unless it's a friend of mine or whatever but it's hardly unnatural or freaky to do so. I just don't think it's right to go into someone's personal photo files and then make them public. If he wanted to post them, he would've. It is theoretically public but in a directory linking to nothing that the person can choose to email out or make public--while most ILXors probably have the capacity to view source and go to a gallery, there are a lot of us who don't and/or wouldn't have in that instance.

Also, these are not pictures of Tuomas, they're pictures of other people who might not want to have their pictures public. If they were pictures of Tuomas I'd have a slightly different opinion.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 7 August 2003 15:12 (twenty-two years ago)

If you publish any material on the net then it's the equivalent of having it published in a newspaper or broadcast on TV. Does the author of a "letter to the editor" have the right to prevent me from showing the letter to friends and making some comments?

If the people in those photos don't want their pictures viewed by strangers, then they should discourage whoever is hosting them. (or encourage some form of password protection so that only their group of friends can view them) If Tuomas was concerned about this he should have taken the image and uploaded it to a separate webspace somewhere else, where it couldn't be traced back (easily).

In these photo threads I always check the webspace from which the photos are hosted. I've found some interesting blogs/personal sites this way.

If you publish any material on the net then it's the equivalent of having it published in a newspaper or broadcast on TV. Does the author of a "letter to the editor" have the right to prevent me from showing the letter to friends and making some comments?

Well, you didn't show "to friends" the picturess I posted, but another picture you found using the info you got, and without asking my permission. The photos I posted became public property since I put them here, but I didn't think that would entail someone digging up the other pictures. Let's have a better example: say you accidentally find someone's private letter in a trashcan. Technically, it's not private property anymore since she threw it away, but does that give you the right to publish it in a newspaper? Legally, it may be so, but I'd use a little discretion.

If the people in those photos don't want their pictures viewed by strangers, then they should discourage whoever is hosting them. (or encourage some form of password protection so that only their group of friends can view them)

Well, that gallery is sort of private. There's no links to it anywhere, and since there's little text, you wouldn't find it googling for the names of the people in the pictures either. The guy who's webpage it's on sent the address only to those people who were there when the pictures were taken. I know it's my mistake to put a couple of pictures here, where anyone can trace them back, but I didn't even think of the possibility someone would actually do this.

If Tuomas was concerned about this he should have taken the image and uploaded it to a separate webspace somewhere else, where it couldn't be traced back (easily).

Sorry, I don't know how to do this.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 8 August 2003 13:44 (twenty-two years ago)

But then I suppose we've all thought that about Dan's cleavage.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 8 August 2003 13:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Dan, were you imagining that conversation occurring? Because that'd explain the smirk on your face....I was too drunk that night, it could've actually happened now that I think about it.

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 8 August 2003 13:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Wheeler might have been telling the story about the last time he got his ID yanked.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Carefully phrased.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:40 (twenty-two years ago)

id yanking=mental masturbation?

RJG (RJG), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:45 (twenty-two years ago)

He must've lost about 75 fake IDs, I swear to god. My favorite was the Boston one though because the bouncer was like, "Ok, if this is your real ID, where do you live?" And he replied, totally straight, "Well, I don't know."

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 8 August 2003 14:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 8 August 2003 20:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 8 August 2003 20:02 (twenty-two years ago)

''Mike is just about my favorite ilxor. UNLIKE JULIO.''

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 9 August 2003 15:51 (twenty-two years ago)

It wouldn't do to have tunes and excitement and fun in music, would it Julio?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 9 August 2003 17:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Rather unexpectedly, this is me and Momus playing "Tug-of-Word" last night at a Richard Foreman festival:

http://www.theminorthirds.com/pix-chris-momus.jpg

I am somewhat larger than him and so I won fairly easily but he put in a valiant effort!

Chris P (Chris P), Saturday, 9 August 2003 17:56 (twenty-two years ago)

i dont understand the above, but it looks great!

gareth (gareth), Saturday, 9 August 2003 18:11 (twenty-two years ago)

What's not to understand? I was taking part in a festival to celebrate the works of Richard Foreman, avant-garde theater guy from NYC. Momus was in town on tour (he plays in Portland tonight) and saw the poster at Powell's and thought it looked interested. My friend Mark's piece involved a tug of war (except with words on the rope, so it was a "tug of words") and Momus and I ended up on opposite sides of the rope.

I mean, you act like this sort of thing doesn't happen everyday!

Chris P (Chris P), Saturday, 9 August 2003 18:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Minna, did no-one make the fourleafclover-lucky gag?

Ally, whose head are you about to consume in that photo?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Saturday, 9 August 2003 18:40 (twenty-two years ago)

i hazard a guess: daddino

ron (ron), Saturday, 9 August 2003 18:48 (twenty-two years ago)

It's not Daddino but it is an ILXor.

That Momus/Chris picture is incredible.

Ally (mlescaut), Saturday, 9 August 2003 18:49 (twenty-two years ago)

''It wouldn't do to have tunes and excitement and fun in music, would it Julio?''

nothing to do with that martin. i listen to tunes all the time. and there's plenty of 'fun' and 'excitement' in what i listen to.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Fabelhaft! You should be a doll. Like George Bush.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Ally has long legs. Like a spider. A spider with a tongue ring. A spider with a tongue ring, a care-free attitude and curly hair that gets matted when she rolls around in bed with her long spider legs. I think I'll call her Charlotte.

luv,
Wilbur

rudeboy (rudeboy), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 17:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not sure if that's flattering or frightening?

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 17:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Duh, Ally, it's RUDE.

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Andrew looks like if John Goodman lost all that weight and got HAWT!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 17:41 (twenty-two years ago)

It's not really quite rude though, is it? It's kind of intriguing.

Andrew looks nothing like John Goodman!!!

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 17:42 (twenty-two years ago)

B-but rudeboy said it!

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 17:45 (twenty-two years ago)

He's kind of off today then I reckon.

Charlotte (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 17:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Hell-freakin'-lo. It was Wilbur waxing on about spider legs, not I. I am quite rude. (But not quite rude enough to liken anyone to a deflated John Goodman).

For instance, say a spider-legged woman with curly hair and a care free attitude boarded a crowded subway car on which I happened to be sitting. I might say, "Hey you. Woman with the long spider legs, curly hair and care free attitude. You seen Peter Parker around anywhere? Ha. Ha. Ha." (

Of course, after that, she would grab me with two of her long spidery legs and spin me into a cacoon where I would spend an eternity in a silken grave listening to a mix Barry Manilow and Yani over the subway car loud speaker system. Heaven has many forms you know.)

I said I was rude, not funny. Who wants to go through life referred to as "funnyboy"?

rudeboy (rudeboy), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I never knew Hanley was such a prettyboy.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I know, right? Look at those eyelashes. He's Liza Freakin' Minelli!

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 19:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I was posting that in part in the hope that someone would go "you look a bit like <blank>", because the photo reminds me of someone, but I don't know who (it's from just yesterday). I was thinking maybe Ralph Fiennes, but that seems a bit presumptous, to put it mildly.

I wasn't expecting John Goodman, but then, who does?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 22:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought Jude Law actually. Or Liev Schrieber.

Leee (Leee), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 22:35 (twenty-two years ago)

More like a slim Tom Sizemore. (Heat reference not intended.)

Sommermute (Wintermute), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 22:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually Andrew, in that pic you look like a "hunk" I once dated. So much so that it gave me a start actually. I sort of indifferent to his conventional good looks now though so I'm not sure if that's a compliment or not. eh.

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 22:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I end up looking different in pretty much every photo, so I stopped caring after a while. Jude Law, yeah, I can live with Jude Law.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 23:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I just posted them all on the Pizza Christ thread, pictures I mean.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 23:08 (twenty-two years ago)

andrew farrell, you do not look like jude law.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 23:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 23:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Lxj > ~Laj

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 23:15 (twenty-two years ago)

surely Lxa>~Laj (Andrew looks like Wolverine, so Andrew doesn't look like Jude Law)

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 23:17 (twenty-two years ago)

If there is a geekier joke than that on ILX, I've never seen it.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 23:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, we just turned into the biggest nerds ever.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 23:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 23:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Dude, why do you ever wear your hair back? It makes you look like an accountant. Or in this case one of those mix-n-match dress-up flip books. Head of an accountant, body of Tha Hottness - are you like in clown pants and shoes just below that photo?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 23:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Well I never!!!

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 23:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I have been smoother, it's true.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 23:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Jude Law wouldn't have said that.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 23:50 (twenty-two years ago)

If I looked like Jude Law at any time other than maybe on that one photo, I wouldn't have to _say_ anything.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 00:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I doubt there are 20 different versions.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 18:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd just like to clarify that I don't think Andrew looks like John Goodman but rather that he looks like if John Goodman lost hella weight and got hella hawt.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 19:09 (twenty-two years ago)

IOW, "You look like John Goodman but I'm too nice/weaselly to say so."

(stevem, ruder than the rudest of rudeboys since 1988)

Doubtful. You may indeed be ruder than me, but, can you dethrone a board loudmouth in the matter of two days grasshopper? Only then will you be truly rude.

It is not the merely the generation of rude that distinguishes our craft, but its implementation. Anyone can be rude, but it takes a rudeboy to make the big (yellow) dog on the board eat shit and cry.

rudeboy (rudeboy), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 20:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Me getting the hell out of this thread:

http://www.osric.com/~jeremy/santa_1.jpg

see if you can spot me among the santas.

more Santarchy fun here.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Thursday, 14 August 2003 02:00 (twenty-two years ago)

There is something beautiful about the juxtaposition of surprised Sean and the army of Santa.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 14 August 2003 02:23 (twenty-two years ago)

you think HE looks surprised? you shoulda seen the owner's face when said army of santa came thundering into his bar, with one of the bigger guys in a mexican wrestling mask waving his arms about and offering Redi-whip to folks.

he was not the most thrilled person there, unfortunately.

and he took my can away, too.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Thursday, 14 August 2003 02:29 (twenty-two years ago)

oh my god, its S&M Santa

phil-two (phil-two), Thursday, 14 August 2003 03:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Heh, I was almost tempted to upload a new photo with the same name, to replace the picture up there with a new one of me looking downwards with shock/horror/surprise or something else like that. But that would probably be cheating.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 14 August 2003 14:09 (twenty-two years ago)

again, i encounter the cultural ignorance of americans.

THIS is mask for a luchador, or a mexican wrestler:

http://www.highspots.com/www/stores_app/images/images_125/item_mask_comm_mm_silver-metal.jpg http://www.puroresu.com/wrestlers/mascaras/mascaras.jpg

specifically, that of Mil Mascaras.

THIS is an S & M mask. or one from a mid 90's pop-industrial video:
http://www.mrb.nl/media/632510web.jpg

thus the name, "el santo claus".

I got a digi-cam on Monday. Presently, I'm disturbed by how badly it eats batteries and haven't decided yet whether or not this is a fault. Anyway, it has a timer, so I played around a bit, so I could shock myself. It worked. I'm old and I need a nose job.

Just the face
A bit more

(I don't post direct links. This means only people genuinely curious actually look, and I KNOW WHO YOU ARE! HAHAHA!)

Ah... there are a few variations of BT IPs banned, due to one person in particular bothering me (or stalking me or whatever). Mind you, he hasn't been around for a while, so maybe it's time to remove the ban. Sorry.

Aaron, that pic makes you look about 45.

wait, didn't this thread get locked? i thought we had shifted over to the other one now, since this once is about 3 Mb in size...

45?? Fuck. Lock this thread!

Aaron W (Aaron W), Wednesday, 1 October 2003 20:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I am so jealous that you are in a picture w/the KOMPAKT logo that was taken I am guessing at their party. jealous jealous jealous! even if you do look like Mike D.

M Matos (M Matos), Wednesday, 1 October 2003 20:55 (twenty-two years ago)

It was a really odd night, actually. Paxahau.com -- which you should check out M. if you haven't already -- brought over Michael Mayer and Reinhard Voigt to Detroit. The thing was, it was a booty-type club, and after a while they just gave in and started playing to the crowd. So, you had all the hipsters rubbing elbows with girls with fake tits and douche bags ordering "MOET MOET!" at the bar. Then, the afterparty was a straight-up rave. Then my girlfriend, on the left, got sick when we were waiting at White Castle for her chicken & cheese and spent the whole night and next day puking. Anyhoo, that explains my expression I think!

Aaron W (Aaron W), Wednesday, 1 October 2003 23:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 4 October 2003 22:58 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, I bet you think all us Goatee-Americans look alike. Beardist.

Then again:

OK, I give up. That's fucking scary.

nate detritus (natedetritus), Saturday, 4 October 2003 23:43 (twenty-two years ago)

For comparison: me from the same angle. If my eyebrows weren't arched and my nose wasn't so damned wide I'd be a total dead ringer. Proving once again that one cannot mention Shadow nowadays without somehow namedropping RJD2.

I am tempted to go around to record stores pretending to be Shadow so I can get really rare funk records for discount prices. "Yeah hey, can I have this box of Westbound 45s for $6? I'm gonna sample it as part of my new exclusive tracklist-free 500-copy mix CD, for reals."

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 5 October 2003 09:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Nate, I'd imagine that shop owners who think that DJ Shadow has just walked in are expecting a big payday if they have any rare funk, not planning to offer discounts.
