Ladies and gentlemen of ILE, who would you like to ask to dinner?

Go on, make someone blush!

Lara (Lara), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:00 (twenty-two years ago)

hstencil

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:04 (twenty-two years ago)

lara byrne.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Are they paying for the dinner? Is it romantic or not? Too many details are being left out here.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:13 (twenty-two years ago)

chasimino or calum

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Duh.

Millar (Millar), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a couple different lists... depends on if it's just dinner or dinner and sex.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd cook for all of you and probably barely get a chance to leave the kitchen. Does that count?

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:16 (twenty-two years ago)

i dont like to eat in front of people

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:17 (twenty-two years ago)

except pussy in which case get in line dear

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I've said it before; I'd totally put out for a "steak dinner".

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:17 (twenty-two years ago)

*mental note*

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Arnie Morton's is close...

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Tep, are you cooking steak? I smell a hook up!

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I might overcook the scare quotes, but I'll do my everlovin best.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I've said it before; I'd totally put out for a "steak dinner".

*writes note, taps out phone number....*

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:19 (twenty-two years ago)

"This is the thread where we hit on Spencer Chow"

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I am a mean fucking grillmeister. I'll do steaks for everybody, and pork chops too, and bacon, and chicken, and corn on the cob, and fuck it, enchiladas, potatoes and onions, and beef kebabs with hot peppers and shit.

Millar (Millar), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Ally's right - we need details.

(Thanks Julio, I accept!)

Lara (Lara), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Tom, you should cook up some chili.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:23 (twenty-two years ago)

yay!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:24 (twenty-two years ago)

that was to Lara btw.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Millar (Millar), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I think in the last week (ok 2 hours, who am I kidding?) I have scared off anyone who may have wanted to take me to dinner.

I guess I'll have to lure y'all with promises of good cooking and plenty of booze.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Millar, we shall have a grilling duel! I challenge you! Take ten paces and draw tongs!

Chris V. (Chris V), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:27 (twenty-two years ago)

what if your dream date has come true 2x?

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:28 (twenty-two years ago)

just dinner: Tep
dinner and sex: there's a few i wouldn't mind
(luna is obv wrong)

oops (Oops), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Grilling is the only thing I can't do. You guys duel, and I'll make dessert and sides.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:29 (twenty-two years ago)

This is obvious but: Erik. Erik, do you like Brussel sprouts?

Chris P (Chris P), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:29 (twenty-two years ago)

How am I obviously wrong? I don't see anyone stepping up to pick up that thrown down dild... er, gauntlet, chief.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Right, cause women talking about dildos just totally turns us men off.

oops (Oops), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Which has nothing to do with dinner, slick.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Dildo: It's what's for dinner.

Chris P (Chris P), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:34 (twenty-two years ago)

dude we totally have to have a grilling duel FAP now, and bring Tep too, and we can all put on fifteen pounds in one afternoon, and all the girls have to dress hot and bring us beers while we labor in the smoke, rrrr, testosterone

Millar (Millar), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:34 (twenty-two years ago)

(I can only assume that my last post ruined what little chance I had in sharing wine-cooked Brussels sprouts with Erik. Dammit.)

Chris P (Chris P), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:35 (twenty-two years ago)

No, that would be where the 'date' part comes into play, champ.

(triple xpost)

oops (Oops), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Which brings to mind, Chris: What's in this pot? Soup? Gnocchi? YARGHHHHHHHHH!

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I will make my upside-down key lime pie and creme brulee and brownies (dessert was the first thing I learned to make, cause if you fucked it up, you didn't miss a meal). And a side dish of, um ... duck and ribs! (Fuck you, that's a perfectly good side dish, and I want to help Millar meet his quota there.)

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:36 (twenty-two years ago)

It's like a T-bone steak, except without the steak. And without the T.

Chris P (Chris P), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:37 (twenty-two years ago)

felicity, because she'd make such a charming date (and I miss her), or Paul, because he knows from restaurants. Or maybe I'd just ask Paul on advice where to take felicity.

And I'd ask Carey and Jody on a malted milk date.

rosemary (rosemary), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm sitting out any grill FAPs.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I would like to have dinner with the following list of people:

Tep
Samantha
Teeny
Kenan
Dee
Ally and Mllar
Neud
Donut Bitch
Spencer
Chaki
Chrises B., P. and V.
Sarah and Nick
Nickalicious

and a whole host of other people.

I won't say which of them I want to give it up, though. Just for fun.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:58 (twenty-two years ago)

"Neud"

Millar (Millar), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm cracking up at that sorry

Millar (Millar), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh and Mark C. and Martin and Di and.. wow - there are a lot of people.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 21:59 (twenty-two years ago)

luna! Come here and I'll take you to dinner.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 22:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Deal!

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 22:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Also you can stay at my house. We can watch Say Anything.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 22:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, I am SO there.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 22:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I want to invite you all to an elegant dinner, sitting in the shadow of the main course that consists a single gigantic cheese fry. Bring your own dipping sauce.

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 22:05 (twenty-two years ago)

All your mothers.

Leee (Leee), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 22:06 (twenty-two years ago)

This better not be the cheese fry = penis euphemism.

Though there is something to be said for the idea of a gigantic penis casting a shadow over us all.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 22:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Or better yet your golf prodigy daughters.

Leee (Leee), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 22:06 (twenty-two years ago)

i'll expect my royalty check by the 15th

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 22:07 (twenty-two years ago)

You know, honestly, cooking for people is like the most social activity I tend to go for, cause it feels more practical than going out ("I'm not wasting time I could be spending working, cause I'm cooking!") I would cook for many ILXen if I were not trapped so far from the coasts.

(Yes, I'm a closeted obsessive workaholic, in my own way.)

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 22:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I would so have cheese fries with jess, and that's not a euphemism.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 22:08 (twenty-two years ago)

People, apart from the next few weeks when he's forcing 100 kids to cook his recipes at hippie camp, I get to have dinner with Ed every night.

He is not here to challenge Millar on the grill field, but as with his political tendencies he probably hopes to achieve the ideal end result using theory (and a potentially unfair global knives advantage) in a way contrary to Millar's, but of equal intelligence. Duuuuuuuuuuuel!

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 22:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I do seriously want to have an ILE Veggie/Vegan Dinner Party at my place... and i mean something more than just getting some beer and pizza delivery (as good as that can be). I'll post the details soon enough, I was thinking maybe late August or early September. So, for those of you peoplez that aren't offended by soy stuff, you are on the list!

(Cheese fries optional.)

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 22:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Marinara, Honey Mustard, BBQ, Ranch etc etc

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 22:16 (twenty-two years ago)

In the shadow of cheese fries or of big amps, DB? YOUR CHOICE.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 22:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I would have a tea party with Gareth and Jel.

Nellie (nellskies), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 22:45 (twenty-two years ago)

i want to eat donuts w/ donut bitch, that sounds like my typical dinner

Vic (Vic), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 22:50 (twenty-two years ago)

*refuses to post follow-up joke*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 22:52 (twenty-two years ago)

post!

Vic (Vic), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 22:53 (twenty-two years ago)

My dream dinner date is Blatz and Cheez-its with RJG.

kirsten (kirsten), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 22:56 (twenty-two years ago)

my dream dinner date is blatz and pretzels w/ KMK.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 22:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Aww.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 22:59 (twenty-two years ago)

:-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 23:03 (twenty-two years ago)

i would have dinner w/ luna but i didn't make her list, so now i shall diss her for a cyber-dinner w/ larcole

Vic (Vic), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 23:24 (twenty-two years ago)

myself, force of circumstances.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 23:26 (twenty-two years ago)

i'd have dinner w/ ronan

actually i'd have dinner with (almost) any of you, if i wasn't the one paying or c ooking etc

Vic (Vic), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 23:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Exactly. There are very few of you I'd turn down. But know that I can't cook.

Chris P (Chris P), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 23:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Dave Q! He is a renaissance man.

Larcole (Nicole), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 23:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd have dinner with Andrew nf cos I still havent met him yet.

Or Jim, who can take me out for japanese.

Oooh look, is that a hint on the floor?

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 23:56 (twenty-two years ago)

japanese you say?

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 23:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Dont you dare make any fish jokes!

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 23:58 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm not interested in food

unknown or illegal user (doorag), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 00:03 (twenty-two years ago)

or other people

unknown or illegal user (doorag), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 00:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Liar, you've had dinner with me and other Dunedin folks before.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 00:19 (twenty-two years ago)

don't blow his cover.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 00:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm a hungry man, but I don't want pizza

ModJ, Wednesday, 6 August 2003 00:27 (twenty-two years ago)

feed my frankenstein!

Asymmetric Cocktails (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 00:28 (twenty-two years ago)

That's one of the reasons Dave Q would be the perfect dinner date, it would just be drinking and talking about Van Halen. Food would be irrelevant.

Larcole (Nicole), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 00:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Well let's see. I've already been to dinner with Ned and Chris B. and Stripey more times than I can count, so that doesn't count.

I would, however, like to go to The French Laundry in Northern California with anyone who will make the trip!

Orbit (Orbit), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 04:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd like to invite you all for dinner, but I don't think my dining table is quite big enough for us all to get round so we'd all have to sit on each other's laps.

C J (C J), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 06:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Vic, we're having a double birthday party at the Mansion next year - I thought dinner would never compare!

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 07:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I want a girl who knows how to make croissants, who has shoes mended, who likes rolling down hills, a girl whose eyes have a blue ardour, who says ?mm-hm?, a girl with a sensitive skin, a normal skin, a lover?s skin. I want a girl who doesn?t always wear pigtails, who likes reading, who cares if she smokes?, a girl who gets up early, doesn?t like rock, a girl with a practised gaze, who sleeptalks, and writes in french, who sends me poems in the post, a Parisien flaneur or a Munich singer, who says ?let?s go to the seashore?, and loves cats, who tells me her half-remembered dreams. A girl who throws flour at me, playful, then laughs or a girl who rides a bike, who?ll break my impression of a life, who promises, who smells of butterscotch and moist pollen, a foreign girl with perfect English, or a Scots girl with broken English, who sees a world too subtle for my eyes, then shows me it. Who fingers a knuckle of grass, who takes the scent of hydrangeas, up, into her, who?ll tell me her school?s cloakroom mysteries and giggle at the seriousness of her pitch, a girl who I love, a girl who is perfect.

David. (Cozen), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 11:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Awww that's nice, I hope you find her!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 11:32 (twenty-two years ago)

too many q marks there ;)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 11:34 (twenty-two years ago)

or at least someone else whose special qualities you may not realise you want until you've encountered them.

(xp)

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 11:35 (twenty-two years ago)

David, I know that girl - she's out of your league, mate.

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 11:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I know one like that but she's a bit of a dog.

btw, whatcha up to this evening, cozen?

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 11:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I would like to have dinner with... Marcello, dave q, Ned, Ronan, Lara, Kate, Martin, Tim, Pinkpanther, all the other Nicks...

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 11:41 (twenty-two years ago)

whatcha up to this evening

who's a bit of a dog now eh?

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 11:41 (twenty-two years ago)

you? step off.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 11:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I think we should ALL OF US get all dolled up and pile into a gigandor limo like clowns into a VW Bug and go out to dinner together and put it all on our parent's credit cards then go dancing in a prom stylee.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 12:06 (twenty-two years ago)

It wouldn't happen, ILE is out of my league.

Larcole (Nicole), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 12:08 (twenty-two years ago)

truckers aren't out of m league.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 12:12 (twenty-two years ago)

An honest man.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 22:29 (twenty-two years ago)

dada

ben welsh (benwelsh), Thursday, 7 August 2003 00:11 (twenty-two years ago)

they would hold up photographs all evening instead of speaking

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Thursday, 7 August 2003 00:16 (twenty-two years ago)

beats most things momus has to say

ben welsh (benwelsh), Thursday, 7 August 2003 00:18 (twenty-two years ago)

That sounds like a Sims party.

Oh god I've played too much Sims *cries*.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 7 August 2003 00:52 (twenty-two years ago)

i have so been reading this thread to see how many namechecks i get.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 7 August 2003 05:36 (twenty-two years ago)

i want to have tofu and satay stir fry with di

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Thursday, 7 August 2003 05:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I got one mention
and then my old name got dissed
so screw all y'all

(actually though
I'd have dinner with you all
except two or three)

Haikunym, Thursday, 7 August 2003 05:40 (twenty-two years ago)

jim i just had that for dinner tonight. *out of it shit maaaaaaaan*

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 7 August 2003 05:40 (twenty-two years ago)

hey just come over
show up here in madison
better be hungry

I'll make risotto:
onions, garlic, mushrooms, peas,
lentils in wine sauce

simmering perfect
while we stand in the kitchen
rockin' thin lizzy

Haikunym, Thursday, 7 August 2003 05:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Come to visit me in Orlando, Haikunym. I'll cook and you can recite your works. Then after we'll sit in the hot-tub, drinking wine or beer or something, and discussing the haiku VS the sonnet.

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Thursday, 7 August 2003 05:48 (twenty-two years ago)

There are so many people here with whom I'd love to have a dinner date. I won't start listing them as I won't know where to stop and I'll feel guilty for leaving someone out. Current #1, and this will come as no surprise to her, would be Luna.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 8 August 2003 16:23 (twenty-two years ago)

certain people here wouldn't even go to lunch with me ... why would they want to eat dinner with me?

Tad (llamasfur), Saturday, 9 August 2003 09:42 (twenty-two years ago)

to talk a abt frank zappa of course.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 9 August 2003 10:26 (twenty-two years ago)

We won't have to talk about Frank Z at our dinner will we?

Lara (Lara), Saturday, 9 August 2003 12:05 (twenty-two years ago)

ms. laura I bust
sonnets too, just watch out; feel
my alexandrine

Haikunym (Haikunym), Saturday, 9 August 2003 13:01 (twenty-two years ago)

''We won't have to talk about Frank Z at our dinner will we?''

of course not. At our dinner date there might not even be much talking.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 9 August 2003 14:18 (twenty-two years ago)

you must be hungry.

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 9 August 2003 14:45 (twenty-two years ago)

haha! yes but not for food tho'.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 9 August 2003 14:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Yesterday we busted out of work early and did up like 8 sirloins and 4 pork chops and a T-bone or two and drank a fucking armada of beers. The secret is sea salt, garlic pepper, and a grill weapon with a built-in bottle opener. I'm sorry, ILX, I love you guys, right, but my dream dinner date has just been and gone.

Millar (Millar), Saturday, 9 August 2003 15:30 (twenty-two years ago)

di,
a namecheck for you

come to chch again
(it will be better than last time)
i have food, music, books, heaters, etc.. y'know
bring your guitar (and a suitable drummer like dz if you want)

oh, and i have that video footage of your gig,
so i could put it on the 'net for you ? no ?

(anyway, it sounds good ring-modulated ..)

(i'm no good at asking people to dinner; you live in dunedin which is not quite as convenient as this thread, but it's a start; of course i owe you an email; should i be hanging around ile ? i don't know this terrain; maybe a phone call)

anyway, be seeing you soon hopefully,

george gosset (gegoss), Saturday, 9 August 2003 15:32 (twenty-two years ago)

julio,
i'd ask you too,
but di is closer to home,
yet far enough away to maintain her mystique,
and she _plays_ rock'n'roll !
(but can talk it over dinner/fap)

george gosset (gegoss), Saturday, 9 August 2003 15:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Tad, I've asked you to come join me for dinner about 8 trillion times now, you never show up.

Ally (mlescaut), Saturday, 9 August 2003 15:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Based on reports of their cooking prowess, if Chris B. or Ed were catering I'd go on a date with D00m13 or G31r.

j.lu (j.lu), Saturday, 9 August 2003 18:19 (twenty-two years ago)

i'd be up for doing a dinner party for you all. i do great chicken, fish & tofu kebabs. so i'm told, at least.

as for the after-dinner fun, well, there's a couple of you who'd be invited.

and, if we all get really bored, we can play Vice City. That worked out exceptionally well after the last one, where my two normally-vid-game-hating friends were laughing far too hard at running over motorcyclists with the coach.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Saturday, 9 August 2003 18:33 (twenty-two years ago)

''julio,
i'd ask you too''

yeah well if i ever go to NZ I'll make sure we have one. we'll play some of yr FMP vinyl ;)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 9 August 2003 19:07 (twenty-two years ago)

george, that sounds ace. i reckon i'll make it to christchurch sometime this summer. please do not put that footage on the net.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 9 August 2003 22:36 (twenty-two years ago)

awww go on! footage on the net! footage on the net!

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Sunday, 10 August 2003 09:13 (twenty-two years ago)

noooooooo thats a really early gig and i was very nervous and about half of the songs have been binned cos they were shit.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 10 August 2003 09:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd ask Ally, turn up with some books, dump them on her lap, say "read", and walk out.

She might learn something.

Calz (Calz), Sunday, 10 August 2003 10:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I had mine.

Ally (mlescaut), Sunday, 10 August 2003 19:35 (twenty-two years ago)

i had mine too

gareth (gareth), Sunday, 10 August 2003 22:00 (twenty-two years ago)

so did i, but i didn't know it yet :-(

The Four Singing Beatles (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 10 August 2003 22:02 (twenty-two years ago)

george i think you should put that footage on the net but put all the soundtrack thru the ring modulator

duane, Sunday, 10 August 2003 22:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I want fondue with Ned! *pout*

Orbit (Orbit), Monday, 11 August 2003 03:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Fondue for all I tells ya. ILX FEAST. Now to win the lottery and make it happen.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 11 August 2003 05:09 (twenty-two years ago)

There was a lorry carrying cheese that caught on fire in Britain a few weeks back. If only we'd been there.
