Exactly. We all have different reasons for being part of this board. In general though, tis a (mostly) neutral arena to share ideas, opinions, whatever. I can see why anyone might feel overwhelmed (at first) on seeing all these people interact....many who seem to know each other....and wonder if you would be accepted for who you are.

On the other side of the coin, the 'club' isn't made up of a Borg collective: you are free to come and go. So, if you swear that you won't become/stay a member because you are an 'individual', you're cutting off your nose to spite your face.

no one is an individual, we're all acting under the influence of others at least partially whether we know about it or not. and so the 'club' aspect of ilx can become overwhelming, because of all the new influences. its like joining drama club when you're 16 only to discover that all the girls just giggle stuff and shower the pseudo-gay-but-could-score-lots-of-women drama king with attention and love which he probably wont make use of anyway. joining ilx is fun, but some of these threads can leave newcomers, and i guess im still a newcomer, as outsiders. of course thats not a bad thing, it just leaves me not always knowing what to say, and thats when i say the things i regret the most.

and so, back on topic, ilxor incest would be a lot like sleeping with that drama king and enjoying it as he gets off on reading hamlets soliloquies to you.

that story never happened to me though, i was too scared to join anything drama related due to scary sexually rampant drama teacher. the only extra curricular activity i was involved with was actually croquet.
