Mark C (Mark C), Friday, 19 September 2003 13:22 (twenty-one years ago)

To start off, a fairly hefty (and therefore linked) pic of me and my beloved at Denver airport, which I may well have posted before.

Mark C (Mark C), Friday, 19 September 2003 13:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw!

robster (robster), Friday, 19 September 2003 13:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Is this "BEST EVAH" in the sense of being the greatest hits of previously posted pix?

Well, here's a fresh picture of me for you all to chew on:

teeny (teeny), Friday, 19 September 2003 13:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Me. In Edinburgh almost exactly 2 years ago, give or take a couple of days. Taken by ILX's very own Caitlin.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Friday, 19 September 2003 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Do any Britishers in their late 20s know which Grange Hill character Chris Piuma reminds me of? Cos I can't think of his name and it's doing my head in...

That map is so rad, teeny! "America's largest prairie dog", or "America's biggest sprocket museum" or whatever. I'd look for a proper online pic of it if I wasn't a lazy motherfucker working really hard right now.

Mark C (Mark C), Friday, 19 September 2003 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Mark, I reckon Francis 'Mauler' McCall.

robster (robster), Friday, 19 September 2003 13:53 (twenty-one years ago)

also it's funny how Kingfish looks kinda like Tep, and Tep kinda looks like Mr. Teeny, but Mr. Teeny doesn't look like Kingfish.

teeny (teeny), Friday, 19 September 2003 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmm, yeah, but you could probably link me to any bald bloke you choose in two steps or fewer.

(NB this is not a challenge, unless you can do it with ILXors)

(NBB Phil Mitchell has never been on ILX)

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 22 September 2003 03:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 22 September 2003 03:50 (twenty-one years ago)

What, like Soul Train isn't a scary tv show?

Chris P (Chris P), Monday, 22 September 2003 03:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Racist.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 22 September 2003 03:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Are you kidding? That animated train always freaked me out as a kid.

Chris P (Chris P), Monday, 22 September 2003 04:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 22 September 2003 04:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 22 September 2003 04:53 (twenty-one years ago)

so you're saying that's a good thing, Ned?

oops (Oops), Monday, 22 September 2003 04:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 22 September 2003 04:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Chris P (Chris P), Monday, 22 September 2003 15:31 (twenty-one years ago)

(Or at least have her stroking the kitty's chin rather than its armpit!)

But if you had it on the other shoulder she'd be, like, Flippy the Twee Pirate!

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 23 September 2003 12:39 (twenty-one years ago)

That's funny, Sarah - that has been said to me before. I am not in her league at all, nowhere near, but it was a lovely thing to say though :)

C J (C J), Tuesday, 23 September 2003 12:41 (twenty-one years ago)

You have awesome hair CJ! That's a beautiful pic!

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 23 September 2003 13:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Thank you, teeny! (I'm kinda awkward with compliments and I've gone a deep shade of pink now)

C J (C J), Tuesday, 23 September 2003 13:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I am amused by the inclusion of "alive." as if someone would ever say "you remind me of a young, DEAD princess di!" but yes, i can see the comparison too :)

Maria (Maria), Tuesday, 23 September 2003 13:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Here's me dancing with a chick I usually want to beat up at a Boys Named Sue show. I'm in the glasses.

A Girl Named Sam (thatgirl), Friday, 26 September 2003 04:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I had no idea that's what you looked like at all Sam! It's always weird when you get some kind of picture in your head & the reality is nothing like it.

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 20 October 2003 14:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Everyone on ILE has the same glasses. It's like a doomsday cult.

emo glasses and a rock star! I know how to accessorize!

http://starstarstar.net/Rhett.jpg

teeny (teeny), Monday, 20 October 2003 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I do not have emo glasses. For good reason, ya crazy people (but everyone does look good in theirs, I will say).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 20 October 2003 17:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I know I've posted this pic before, but I want to be in the indie glasses club too.
http://www.geocities.com/williamsburgrock/nicksarah.txt

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 20 October 2003 17:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm emo-less, because they look terrible on me, but the girlfriend's got em; I was going to post a photo, and then realized a) I should ask her first and b) you can't actually see the glasses in the photo I have on the camera.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 20 October 2003 17:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha I should take a photo of Millar in his emo glasses too, but his are different than the rest of ours. Also I just saw a photo on an old "What do you look like thread?" (cos for some reason I decided to spend my lunch break skimming those instead of doing anything productive) of RJG in the glasses. They really do get around, it's like you create a log in and poof, black-rimmed Rivers Cuomo spex on your face.

Ally-zay, Monday, 20 October 2003 17:35 (twenty-one years ago)

(Mine aren't black, they are dark brown tortoiseshell. This makes me a suave indie fuk.)

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 20 October 2003 17:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Nabisco has them too!

xpost, I used to have tortoiseshell too but I decided glasses the same color as my hair was a bad idea for some random reason I can't remember now. I should get bright red ones and be like the Sally Jesse of the indie crew.

Allyz, Monday, 20 October 2003 17:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I had a tortoiseshell pair too, but I lost them. Now I just have dorky wire-rim glasses. I am always out of the ilx-loop!

Nicolars (Nicole), Monday, 20 October 2003 17:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Nonsense, you are dorque chic.

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 20 October 2003 17:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, Lindsey's are tortoiseshell, too, sort of ... warm brown..ish. She just dyed her hair reddish the other day, and it's the same color as the glasses now, which is weird but good in an action-figure sort of way.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 20 October 2003 17:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Mine are wire, Nicole, we can be our own loop! Especially since they're getting harder and harder to find.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 20 October 2003 17:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Yay wire! That's my backup pair, the main set is a good titanium frame.

I have a bias against horn-rim/tortoiseshell because that's what I mostly had while growing up -- didn't mind up to a point, but then I did, violently (thank you, middle school bullies!). Switched to metal and/or wire in ninth grade and haven't looked back.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 20 October 2003 17:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I've got wire as well. Dorque chic. I like that.

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 20 October 2003 17:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Elvis lives.

Nicolars (Nicole), Monday, 20 October 2003 17:46 (twenty-one years ago)

It's too bad you are such a dickhead RJG otherwise you'd be cute. Post the pic with the glasses! Join us etc.

Allyz, Monday, 20 October 2003 17:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I also sometimes wear those glasses, but not, as most of you have seen, in this picture:

Wicket The Bear (adaml), Monday, 20 October 2003 18:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Oddly, I've been considering a move back to the wire rim or the no-rim; I moved away from the no-rim style a while back because I was too damned rough with my glasses and kept breaking them. Now that I'm not so hyper it might be worth a try again, and then I can swap between the two depending on how emo I'm a-feelin'.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 20 October 2003 18:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I totally have those glasses, too. Dear lord.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 20 October 2003 18:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Everyone should stop wearing glasses. It's ruining the future generations vision. The can't-see gene is getting out of control.

A Nairn (moretap), Monday, 20 October 2003 18:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I have yet to get a pair of emo glasses. Maybe with the next paycheck, i shall. I need new glasses, anyway.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Monday, 20 October 2003 18:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I like my glasses.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 20 October 2003 18:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Okay, so they're not 'emo' glasses anymore, they're just 'i'm under 40 and don't wanna look like a dork' glasses.

oops (Oops), Monday, 20 October 2003 21:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I have them sorta, they're brown not black. I look good in them, but you'll still never see me wearing them.

Jason, that savage cropping makes you look like the Man Without A Mouth. Eek!

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 00:38 (twenty-one years ago)

This is a reposted picture of me in a pair of wire-rimmed glasses that I've given up for... yet another pair of wire-rimmed glasses, this time in brown and with smaller lenses:

http://deanna.ladyinterference.com/ilx/deanna.jpg

And since I've decided against traveling during the Christmas holidays in exchange for HOPEFULLY getting LASIK surgery, I am planning on this current pair of glasses being the LAST pair of glasses I ever own. Thank God.

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 01:19 (twenty-one years ago)

p.s.: Thick plastic frames SUCK, damn it. They remind me too much of the glasses I was stuck with when I was a little girl. God, those were monstrosities. I'm a wire-rimmed girl.

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 01:21 (twenty-one years ago)

i love thick plastic frames.

dee, is travelling to big d out of the question?

A Girl Named Sam (thatgirl), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 01:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Sam, considering that I could actually catch a bus to get to DFW, Dallas is so not out of the question. And your favored types of plastic rims are quirky and unique and should not be lumped in together with the pre-adolescent chunky disasters I wore a long time ago.

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 01:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Dee to Dallas for debauchery soon!

A Girl Named Sam (thatgirl), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 01:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 01:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Mine are black emo glasses too. Just because they were $8 on ebay as opposed to the $350 Paul Smith frames I had purchased prior and ended up stepping on.

Sam, I had tried to rock the rhinestone cateyes but they would not take to my head shape.

Carey (Carey), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 01:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I have black cats eye glasses with rhinestones on the sides, but the prescription is a bit off, so I rarely wear them.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 02:25 (twenty-one years ago)

oops (Oops), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 04:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Damn DB, you'll never win chess using coffee mugs as pawns!

Elvis is looking rather disaproving, isnt he. "You steal mah legs, bitch?"

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 04:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Elvis wants sammiches.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 12:42 (twenty-one years ago)

"for fuck & shame" soudns like it could have interesting crossover appeal with used in conjunction with "grudge fuck"
