...my album.

Order other stuff from Tape Mountain's catalog too, it's a fine label -- including Minor Thirds goodness from Chris Piuma!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 25 October 2003 01:00 (twenty-one years ago)

the sequel: ned raggett reads the orange county phone book ... with feeling, man.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Saturday, 25 October 2003 01:08 (twenty-one years ago)

:-)

Eisbär (llamasfur), Saturday, 25 October 2003 01:09 (twenty-one years ago)

ned is it really you just reading the almanac?!

mohammed abba (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 25 October 2003 01:19 (twenty-one years ago)

It is indeed really me reading the almanac.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 25 October 2003 01:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Tape Mountain is a truly wonderful thing and this sounds like yet another stride in quality for them: hurrah, Ned!

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Saturday, 25 October 2003 01:21 (twenty-one years ago)

i just told ned i am going to a todd edwards/akufen style remix of this for the next ilx comp.

mohammed abba (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 25 October 2003 01:22 (twenty-one years ago)

ned raggett - "almanac pg. 38 (omnipotent baby Heavens!to murgatroid mix)"

mohammed abba (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 25 October 2003 01:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Why does the image seem to imply you'll be reading a Chinese takeaway menu?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 25 October 2003 01:24 (twenty-one years ago)

exactly how much of the almanac? cover to cover?

the surface noise (electricsound), Saturday, 25 October 2003 01:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Selected portions.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 25 October 2003 01:39 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah he'd have to be the micro machines guy to fit the whole thing onto one disc.

mohammed abba (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 25 October 2003 01:40 (twenty-one years ago)

this is, without a doubt, the greatest thing i have ever seen.

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Saturday, 25 October 2003 01:41 (twenty-one years ago)

ned, how did you decide what portions to read??

mohammed abba (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 25 October 2003 01:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Random. I just flipped through and found something odd or weird. That's why I talk about rodeo winners and Laos.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 25 October 2003 01:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Ordering mine now. I can't wait to have kids and bequeath this unique item to them in my will, as they will do for their children, and so on...

adaml (adaml), Saturday, 25 October 2003 01:58 (twenty-one years ago)

FUCKING BEST ALBUM OF 2003! I've had a copy for a while now -- it is sublime. It is really everything you could ever imagine an album called Ned Raggett Reads The Almanac would be, and somehow MORE.

Note: The follow-up will be Ned Raggett: ?.

Go and order: http://www.tapemountain.com/ and you should order my album while you're there too, it's also not that bad at all. And some Raunchy Young Lepers and some Celesteville. You could buy all that and still spend less than $10, it's fucking brilliant.

Casuistry (Chris P), Saturday, 25 October 2003 02:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Apparently there's a minor glitch with the ordering button that's about to be fixed, so just a quick heads up!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 25 October 2003 02:16 (twenty-one years ago)

(I'm getting in touch with Jake to fix it. Drop an e-mail to jake att tapemountain dot com or IM me and it'll all be solved.)

Casuistry (Chris P), Saturday, 25 October 2003 02:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Okay, fixed! Order away!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 25 October 2003 02:20 (twenty-one years ago)

(Sorry, that was Ned Raggett: Pi.)

Casuistry (Chris P), Saturday, 25 October 2003 02:23 (twenty-one years ago)

It is? Oh dear. Hm. I could try it...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 25 October 2003 02:23 (twenty-one years ago)

the next ILX comp should consist of only remixes of this album.

Dave M. (rotten03), Saturday, 25 October 2003 02:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Jess and I were already joking about that in chat! Oh my.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 25 October 2003 02:34 (twenty-one years ago)

This album will change the way you think about cookies.

Casuistry (Chris P), Saturday, 25 October 2003 02:38 (twenty-one years ago)

And I've also celebrated by actually UPDATING THE PHOTO ON MY HOME PAGE!

Thus.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 25 October 2003 03:30 (twenty-one years ago)

(Sorry, that was Ned Raggett: Pi.)

Hitmewiththedigits.

nickn (nickn), Saturday, 25 October 2003 04:04 (twenty-one years ago)

i just know that this is the best 2.35 i've ever spent

ron (ron), Saturday, 25 October 2003 04:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm serious, the only thing better than Ned reading from the Almanac will be Ned cooing pi in your ear for an hour.

Casuistry (Chris P), Saturday, 25 October 2003 04:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Somehow I think there's a connection here...

Amazon.com now offering full-text searching for over 120,000 books?! (23 new answers)

Skottie, Saturday, 25 October 2003 05:27 (twenty-one years ago)

o man i gotta get this ;-)

btw: whats The Almanac?

gaz (gaz), Saturday, 25 October 2003 08:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned! Why didn't you say anything? An extract must appear on the next comp!

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 25 October 2003 09:16 (twenty-one years ago)

It actually wasn't a total secret -- I'd mentioned it idly once or twice before on the board and Tape Mountain has been listing it as a coming attraction on their webpage. But Mr. Piuma decided to have fun with it *as* a secret and I figured I'd play along. :-) As for an extract, personally I'm fonder of the remix idea! I want Jess, TOMBOT, Dan, whoever else to just go in there and trash things.

It's not the almanac, just an almanac. But 'the almanac' sounds better.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 25 October 2003 12:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Grays...Sports...Almanac?

i'd like to hear this!

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 25 October 2003 12:52 (twenty-one years ago)

oh and i will definitely be remixing you

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 25 October 2003 12:52 (twenty-one years ago)

:-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 25 October 2003 12:54 (twenty-one years ago)

i will download it ;)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 25 October 2003 12:55 (twenty-one years ago)

:-( Now at last I see how the artists are hurt by piracy! I abjure mp3s henceforth.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 25 October 2003 12:57 (twenty-one years ago)

fear not, $3 coming your way!

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 25 October 2003 13:00 (twenty-one years ago)

that's more than most bands make off a CD sale right?

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 25 October 2003 13:00 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, unless they sell direct (i will buy this and remix it also. how...how meta!!)

Pashmina (Pashmina), Saturday, 25 October 2003 13:02 (twenty-one years ago)

It is! Though actually the money goes to Jake o' Tape Mountain, who is a worthy soul. There's no real contract or anything here! I've known the guy since 1995, this is a handshake deal if ever there was one. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 25 October 2003 13:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually I just realized that for obvious reasons I can't review this anywhere! Uh, anyone want to do the honors?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 25 October 2003 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

haha ned i will happily review it on nylpm

it will be a double review with alvin lucier's "i am sitting in a room"

i suspect the net effect is largely the same

mohammed abba (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 25 October 2003 15:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Rah!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 25 October 2003 15:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I am hungover and this concept is tripping me out. Go Ned!

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 25 October 2003 16:19 (twenty-one years ago)

it will be a double review with alvin lucier's "i am sitting in a room"

someone should write a book tracing the history of pop music between this and montell jordan's "this is how we do it"

mark p (Mark P), Saturday, 25 October 2003 16:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Order placed! I look forward to listening to this and being enlightened in the most pleasant way possible.

Andrew (enneff), Saturday, 25 October 2003 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned's almanac reading is making my cat act all freaky like he's having a seizure! Usually only Kraftwerk does that to him.

Nicolars (Nicole), Saturday, 25 October 2003 16:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Mystic.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 25 October 2003 16:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm buying an extra copy to put on Ebay in a couple of years in case I'm not yet rich!

Aaron A., Saturday, 25 October 2003 17:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Pazz and Jop ranking?

badgerminor (badgerminor), Saturday, 25 October 2003 17:30 (twenty-one years ago)

PEOPLE! Get this on the Pazz and Jop! I know you can.

Ned Raggett
Ned Raggett
Buy this LP

1992
1/2

Ned Raggett continues the formula perfected on Ned Raggett's debut: a steady supply of inconsistent insanity. The subject matter runs the gamut from conformity ("Legacy") to going on camping trips ("Away the Lads"). If you enjoy leather-clad swagger, you'll like the latest release from Ned Raggett.

The first thing you notice, on "Pants," is how take-no-prisoners Ned Raggett's trademark sonic assault has gotten.

The fury on the new single "Paging Dr. Seuss" will blast Ned Raggett into the mainstream, mostly thanks to the heavy use of flange.

Piece together the story of Ned Raggett and you have something unique in the world of contemporary music.

He spends most of his time talking about his favorite subject: being a rebel. In 1990, without much fanfare, Ned Raggett released his debut single "War Horse" on an incredibly obscure indie level. Its Velvet Underground-esque, tasty bluster was a revelation, at least for me, since I was one of four people who heard it. But times have changed.

Our readers respond
Dear Robot,

Your review of Ned Raggett was dead wrong. Sometimes you just have to enjoy a good rock album for what it is. Ned Raggett is the record of the year. Your magazine sucks.

Ned Raggett forever,
-- Ned Raggett fan

mookieproof (mookieproof), Sunday, 26 October 2003 04:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Has it leaked yet?

Simon H., Sunday, 26 October 2003 16:55 (twenty-one years ago)

i wrote about this concept for my blog

anthony easton (anthony), Monday, 27 October 2003 03:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Why thank ya. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 27 October 2003 03:04 (twenty-one years ago)

a tour-de-force matched only in scope by the Jandek accapella trilogy

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 27 October 2003 03:05 (twenty-one years ago)

(i assume)

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 27 October 2003 03:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Hrm. This is far more listenable and hypnotic than the Jandek a cappella stuff.

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 27 October 2003 03:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I wonder how long it'll take before I receive my copy.

Andrew (enneff), Monday, 27 October 2003 04:14 (twenty-one years ago)

it's a shame wesley willis isn't around to sing a tribute to Ned

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 27 October 2003 04:17 (twenty-one years ago)

sweet jesus.

Chris V. (Chris V), Monday, 27 October 2003 12:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Fuck remixes. I'm totally going to cover this album.

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 27 October 2003 13:03 (twenty-one years ago)

with what?

ahahahahaha....

stevem (blueski), Monday, 27 October 2003 13:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Blood and semen.

ahhahahahahahah!

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 27 October 2003 13:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Ewwwww!

smee (smee), Monday, 27 October 2003 13:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Grody!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 27 October 2003 13:22 (twenty-one years ago)

To the max.

Nicolars (Nicole), Monday, 27 October 2003 13:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Like, omigod.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 27 October 2003 13:33 (twenty-one years ago)

What-everrrrr.

smee (smee), Monday, 27 October 2003 13:40 (twenty-one years ago)

The turn this thread has taken has broken my brane.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 27 October 2003 14:24 (twenty-one years ago)

There were parts that were yet unbroken?

Nicolars (Nicole), Monday, 27 October 2003 14:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Scary but true!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 27 October 2003 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Not so much unbroken as ill-kept.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 27 October 2003 15:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Somehow it took that last post for me to realize my name is an anagram of Ill-Kept Bi.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 27 October 2003 15:33 (twenty-one years ago)

And are you?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 27 October 2003 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

And you are?

stevem (blueski), Monday, 27 October 2003 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I was only bi while at Hampshire, but I'm not ill-kept!

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 27 October 2003 15:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Perhaps you should reassign your name to someone more appropriate, e.g me.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 27 October 2003 18:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Martin Skidmore = "Skin me a trim rod."

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 27 October 2003 18:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Martin Skidmore = "I stink. Ramrod me."

I'll stop now. ;-)

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 27 October 2003 18:26 (twenty-one years ago)

It is indeed really me reading the almanac.

(bark if laughter) Twisted, but just what I expected. You may get a few stalkers, however.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 27 October 2003 18:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Whatever all of you are on, tis unfair to keep it all for yourselves. I've heard dime-bags are supposed to be way handy.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 27 October 2003 18:33 (twenty-one years ago)

i have already begun my remix

mohammed abba (dubplatestyle), Monday, 27 October 2003 19:04 (twenty-one years ago)

:-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 27 October 2003 19:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Jess, uploading is in order. (Sorry Tape Mountain, but commando distribution is the way to go)

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 27 October 2003 19:19 (twenty-one years ago)

the mind boggles even days later.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 27 October 2003 19:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Partially is due to the desire to preserve Ned's vocal genes for supposed intelligent life (or summat)

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 27 October 2003 20:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Slight revive to note that apparently y'all have made quite an impact on Tape Mountain -- from label guru Jake's journal at http://www.tapemountain.com/trinkets.html :

The Tape Mountain is once again swimming in orders thanks to the weird Internet: many many Ned Raggett orders, many people trying to figure out: what is this Ned Raggett, what does he sound like in person instead of through ASCII? I admit that I would be fascinated as well if I swam in the same electronic pool as Ned.

Thoughts for the next Ned Raggett CD:
Ned Raggett: Pi
Ned Raggett Reads Raunchy Young Lepers Song Lyrics
Jacob Anderson Pretends to Be Ned Raggett Reading The Almanac

And of course the inevitable remix compilation should be coming up at some point. Out comes the Language Master!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 04:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned does accapella versions of all the songs from "Loveless"

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 04:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I COULD DO THAT.

Very carefully.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 04:49 (twenty-one years ago)

The masses cry out for it.

Nicolars (Nicole), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 04:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Music for the masses (as opposed to for the...well, you can guess).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 04:51 (twenty-one years ago)

The unwashed-masses, Ned? Or are you looking for those who occasionally bathe?

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 04:55 (twenty-one years ago)

It couldn't hurt.

I'm still digesting the idea of a dramatic recitation of Raunchy Young Lepers readings. Erm.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 16:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I like it. You and Dan reading No! No! No! would be Lepertastic.

Nicolars (Nicole), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 16:26 (twenty-one years ago)

! I now have a vision.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

The idea of Dan saying "I can't rap so I'm a gay rapist" fills me with fear, loathing and sheer delight.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned Reads Penthouse Letters.

I order my copy this am.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

The idea of Dan saying "I can't rap so I'm a gay rapist" fills me with fear, loathing and sheer delight.

Tis only for the faint of heart. Dan's next project could Porn Performance Art.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 16:41 (twenty-one years ago)

And that's different from his day to day life how?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 16:42 (twenty-one years ago)

You could join him, couldn't you?

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 16:43 (twenty-one years ago)

It has already been established that we have a link that transcends time and space.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 16:44 (twenty-one years ago)

So, if I threw a brick at your head, he'd say ouch? Hmm.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 16:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Gotta give the punters what they want; Tape Mountain could branch out, and make a killing.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 16:46 (twenty-one years ago)

It's Krazy Kat on a newer level.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 16:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Without the loud bow ties, presumedly.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 16:48 (twenty-one years ago)

This is Jake we're talking about.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 16:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Not worried that he'd come after you for dissing his chic fashion sense?

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 17:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't be silly. I was saying that the loud bow ties would clearly be included.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 17:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Silly, I? I'm ever serious. In that case, he shouldn't forget the lime green sparkly trousers or rainbow-coloured vests.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 17:16 (twenty-one years ago)

http://www.theminorthirds.com/pix-tm3-stache.jpg

Jake being the one on the right.

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 17:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Now THAT is fashion.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 17:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I need to get the ipod with the voice recording capabilities -- I feel inspired to do a couple of RYL readings myself.

Nicolars (Nicole), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 17:20 (twenty-one years ago)

70s 'taches always were such a babe magnet

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 17:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I need to get the ipod with the voice recording capabilities -- I feel inspired to do a couple of RYL readings myself.

Go for it, Lars! Record them, and you could outsell Ned within a week.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 17:22 (twenty-one years ago)

It would be like the Blur/Oasis wars all over again. But then that would make me Damon Albarn. :-(

Nicolars (Nicole), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 17:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I am giddy with pride at being one of the few people to have met all four members of RYL. And that two of them play on my album. (I actually just hung out a bit with the Goat Boy this weekend.)

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 17:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I envy the Piumaman so much right now.

Nicolars (Nicole), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 17:26 (twenty-one years ago)

It would be like the Blur/Oasis wars all over again. But then that would make me Damon Albarn. :-(

Man, don't sell yourself THAT short, have some self-respect! Besides, I think the Gallaghers have sideburns.

I've only met one RYL member. And he's a dreamboat.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 17:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw, you met the easy one to meet! (Wait, you never met Dr. Pain? This is what you get for not visiting Portland!)

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 17:27 (twenty-one years ago)

It would be like the Blur/Oasis wars all over again. But then that would make me Damon Albarn. :-(

Sure, but at least, you would be prettier than Damon....and with swishier hair.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 17:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Wait, you never met Dr. Pain? This is what you get for not visiting Portland!)

Dr. Pain? Curses! I wouldn't mind meeting him. That name brings up some interesting visions.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 17:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Besides, I think the Gallaghers have sideburns.

Which is attached to that mighty monobrow. Tis better than going bald, though.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 17:31 (twenty-one years ago)

"Sideburns attached to a monobrow" is giving me NeanderFEAR.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 17:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Nick, remember that Dr. Pain was 11 years old at the time.

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 17:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Never mind. Robbing the cradle is not my idea of a great time.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 18:02 (twenty-one years ago)

"Sideburns attached to a monobrow" is giving me NeanderFEAR.

True FEAR is the thought of Liam wrapped in leopard skin

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 18:04 (twenty-one years ago)

ok this just came in the mail and my favorite is the cookie part! (and the end of the toothpaste part... 63?? that makes no sense!!)

also in the liner notes, it appears to have a corrected typo of "authority" and this bastard version is how i imagine cartman would spell it

ron (ron), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 05:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I've also received my copy in the mail. I'm yet to examine it properly though.

Andrew (enneff), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 06:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Jake points out that the correction fluid for the mimeograph (that the liner notes were printed on) gets him high.

So he abstains, and you end up with obvious corrections.

Yes, that's right, it makes him high and so he abstains. Keep that in mind when you listen to RYL...

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 06:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Wah. I still have yet to receive my copy! Soon, soon...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 23:18 (twenty-one years ago)

but did you get the mushy bees?

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 23:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I am deprived on this point.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 23:24 (twenty-one years ago)

good god, this is hilarious. very nice speaking voice ned.

Chris Hungus (Chris V), Thursday, 6 November 2003 13:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Why thank ya.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 6 November 2003 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm kind of cracking up at the thread title, like anyone who's been on the group for more than a month wouldn't know INSTANTLY that a thread title that starts with "Hurrah!" isn't a Ned thread.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 6 November 2003 14:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, you know, aiming for clarity and all.

I'm half-tempted to go through the archives and add "Hurrah!" or "Heavens!" to the beginning of every thread you've started.

(Of course, this might be asking for you to go through and retitle all of my threads to "DAN PERRY IS AN ASSHAT" but what's life without a few risks?)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 6 November 2003 14:11 (twenty-one years ago)

See, adding 'Hurrah!' to 'Terrorist Action 11/9/2001 - Thread 8' is a bit gauche.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 6 November 2003 14:13 (twenty-one years ago)

OMG the attendant fallout!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 6 November 2003 14:14 (twenty-one years ago)

You know, now that I'm listening to an actual copy of this thing, I understand all the cookie jokes now. I had forgotten I had done that.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 03:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I LOVE THE COOKIE TRACK. I want you to know that you had me cracking up with laughter and looking like a general weirdo while I was driving home from school late this afternoon and listening to the CD that I just got today. I am addicted to this. You have a very, very, very lovely voice, dear Ned. Very lovely. It *is* a "booming baritone with jolly inflections", isn't it? And I love the personal touches that Jake from Tape Mountain put to the order and to the packaging, and Charlotte's liner notes are precious and rock. And I will have you know that once I feel the need to listen to something else (which might happen sometime in the future *laughs*), I will listen to the Minor Thirds release I *also* ordered. I love the booklet that came with it. And I love the extra-special touches on the non-playing face of this CD.

If all Tape Mountain releases are this amazingly cool to own, I might just have to order more from the catalog. As for now, however, I'll remain addicted to the whole Ned Raggett Reading the Almanac thing. :) (No need to be scared, hon.)

Pancakes For Breakfast! (Dee the Lurker), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 03:20 (twenty-one years ago)

My sister thinks that you're a corporate rocker shilling for a big record company because you talked about this album on your Oasis list! I wish I was making this up.

Nicolars The Insult Comic Librarian (Nicole), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 03:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, Tape Mountain is staffed solely by The Man, so clearly she must be right.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 03:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Jake is the new Tommy Mottola -- I guess that makes you Mariah.

Nicolars The Insult Comic Librarian (Nicole), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 03:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmm. I have better hair for a start.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 03:32 (twenty-one years ago)

You don't cover one side of your face with it, for starters.

Nicolars The Insult Comic Librarian (Nicole), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 03:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Neither do I display my rainbow-colored bikini butt to all. Though I have a feeling either Chris Hungus or Crudderz will do something about that.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 03:34 (twenty-one years ago)

dear mr raggett, i thought about using your narration of the definition of 'twilight' as the backing to a groovy house track, but i think now i'll just cut up snippets of your voice to make dick jokes. sincerely, dude

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 10:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Dang!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 14:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 14:03 (twenty-one years ago)

WHAT THE HELL WHERE DID YOU GET MY YEARBOOK PHOTO??????

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 14:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish that PayPal didn't hate me so I could order this. :(

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 14:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Looking good for a man your age, Dan!

NA, ask Sarah nicely and maybe she'll order it for you.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 14:06 (twenty-one years ago)

It is our anniversary next week...

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 14:07 (twenty-one years ago)

And what better for a celebration of love than me talking about the top rodeo winners of the last twenty years?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

two months pass...
The FBI wants you to wary of people with almanacs. Report them immediately!

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Friday, 16 January 2004 01:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Man!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 16 January 2004 01:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Ha! Why didn't I put these two pieces of information together before! It's so clear now. Ned Raggett: Eskimo Spy.

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 16 January 2004 01:28 (twenty-one years ago)

STAND BY FOR ACTION!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 16 January 2004 01:32 (twenty-one years ago)

(Was the kid in that movie the most obnoxious Japanese imp of the lot? I think so.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 16 January 2004 01:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm trying to remember which movie that was -- Fugative Alien? The girl who came up with "Cornjob" was pretty obnoxious, and -- man, I really haven't watched most of the other Gameras that often...

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 16 January 2004 01:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm trying to remember which movie that was -- Fugative Alien?

Godzilla vs. Megalon

"HEY LOOK I FOUND SOME FUNNY RED CLAY!"

And of course Jet Jaguar.

The girl who came up with "Cornjob" was pretty obnoxious

This is true. All too true.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 16 January 2004 01:37 (twenty-one years ago)

We're going to ride our bi-cy-cles...

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 16 January 2004 01:40 (twenty-one years ago)

ARG

"My glasses always slide like this when I'm happy!" (or whatever the line was).

The kids in Prince of Space were sorta dopey by comparison -- and Invasion of the Neptune Men even more so.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 16 January 2004 01:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I HAVEN'T SEEN THOSE.

By the way, when you come to PDX you had best have on you a dubbed copy of "Pumaman" with you as a present. (Or a DVD/computer file, that would be even better!)

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 16 January 2004 01:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Noted for reference, sweet lad.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 16 January 2004 01:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I love it when you talk vaguely dirty -- smudged, shall we say? -- I love it when you talk smudged to me.

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 16 January 2004 01:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh baby etc.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 16 January 2004 01:51 (twenty-one years ago)
