...for me, it's when the tv is all fuzzy and unwatchable unless someone is touching the aerial, which seems to make it perfect.

What is "annoying" for you?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 3 November 2003 04:28 (twenty-one years ago)

someone asking me the same question I just answered 10 seconds ago.
even worse is someone giving me the same order I was just given.

People (mostly elderly women) who wait until the groceries or dry goods are added up before they even think of reaching into their purse to fish out their wallet. Then, of course, they must go to two or three separate comparments to get out bills and change. I'll admit that a lot of men (me) are quite disorganized about their pocket money (a wad of bills in the pocket usually) but at least the transaction of paying for goods is rather quick and dirty...

Having said all that, I realize the whole thing, at worst, probably costs me an additional 3-5 minutes. This is what the whole pentium computer thing has done to us. We measure time in milliseconds....

Mildly annoying: people who deliberately refuse to utilize the Subject space when composing an email. You are not writing to me about ellipses or "asdf"s so why do you even bother?

Surmounter, Tuesday, 31 July 2007 19:37 (seventeen years ago)

one year passes...

In a class of mine I was placed into a project team with a woman who, while generally kind, unfortunately uses the term "the dope show" all of the time. I'm talking over a dozen times over the course of an hour long meeting. Not the Marilyn Manson song, just like "Oh...this project is going to be the dope show", or "This study room is the dope show", or "You got a job interview? That is so dope show", or ".........dope show, dope show.....", or "These orange slices are the dope show", and so on.

I've never heard anyone else use "dope show" in this way. I searched ILX and the only uses of "dope show" are in reference to the MM song. Is this normal? Do you say dope show, do your friends?

nabisco, Thursday, 26 March 2009 23:44 (sixteen years ago)

Part of me feels like you should just tell her to stop trying to make "dope show" happen, because "dope show" is never going to happen; another part of me feels like you should come up with an equally annoying phrase and try to start a fight with her about it -- like next time she says something is "dope show," you just say "no, no way, what this is is totally schwangtastic, it's not dope show at all and I can't believe you of all people wouldn't know the difference"

nabisco, Thursday, 26 March 2009 23:47 (sixteen years ago)

And then, while working on your project, you can try "I think that's a really valuable contribution you have, but I wonder if there's any way we could make it a bit more ... well, a bit more schwangtastic, as it were"

three years pass...

this is not innocuous...anyway I figured I'd stop cloggin up that thread with my bullshit :)

I just want to WHINE for a moment.

I've arranged to go to a concert in Reno in Feb with a friend. I tailgate with this friend so I don't really know her too well outside of that, but she's p cool. She lives in Oakland, and is driving up so she is going to pick me up on her way to the concert, we'll stay the night in Reno and she'll drop me back home on Sunday.

So she emails today saying about how she just realized Sunday will be the superbowl, and do I want to watch the game in Reno or we could watch it in Sac? I'd rather watch it in Sac, and say as much. So then some conversation back and forth, and then she ups the ante completely: suddenly she throw in a new angle: actually her friends are going to be in Tahoe on Sunday and hey you know you could get a room in Tahoe Sunday night and Mr Veg could drive up and meet you. That way if you don't want to stay the night Mr Veg and you can go back Sunday night.

I told her no but the whole LA DI DA way she was all 'u guys can get a hotel/mr veg can just magically drive up' just annoyed the fuck out of me, like she's pollyanna with a black amex or soemthing. This is already a $200 night as it is. Am I really getting a hotel room so I can stay in freaking *Reno* to watch the Superbowl? Uhh no. and Mr Veg is driving to and from San Francisco on Saturday night...that's a big NO to driving up to Reno the next day 'just becuase'. Lol.

I sure as hell hope she wants to drive back on Sunday or I'm going to be having to Greyhound home or some shit. Ugh. I was looking forward to this and now it's making me mad
