For the purposes of this game, the UK is to be treated as a 4 different nations.

That's where I was born and lived for three or f0ur years, so there, Nighty Nicky. After that we is moving to England and I lose trace of Scottish accent. Have no relatives there and my parents are both English. Do that make me Engaleeesh? DOES IT?

England, although I'd say British if it weren't for Nick's four nations rule. It annoys me that on a US immigration form, in the box marked Nationality, I have to put UK. UK is not my nationality, it is the place of which I am a citizen. Rant, rant etc.

It's odd, I feel no connection to the US as a country, but I feel a strong connection to the state of Minnesota despite not really wanting to move back there. This supports my theory that the US is Too Damn Big.

In practice I live in the District of Columbia which is not a state and therefore all the senators and representatives from the various states feel they have a right to interfere with our daily operations and squash our attempts to improve things. Then they go home to their constituents and whine about how lousy the nation's capital is and how impossible it is to get anything done.

Canadian, or Ontarian to be more specific (this country is ludicrously huge you know, I've seen *maybe* a fifth or a sixth of it to any reasonably familiar degree) but only first generation so - mother born in Paisley Scotland, father born in Rhodesia. Really, really, really want to travel, and my extended family is scattered around the globe, which could come in very handy.

Just to clarify Nitsuh, the original point of this thread was to just see how many nationalities were represented on ILE (hence no need for multi-posting from Americans or anyone else). That's why I wrote 'ENGLAND - ME!' rather than 'ME - ENGLAND!'. But everyone seems to want to take the opportunity to say where they're from and that's cool too.

More details? OK - BC, the left coast, about as connected to the rest of Canada as every other part is, which is to say not much. Forget regionalism, it's more like being on different planets in the solar system, in distance if not in culture. Actually, BC has never had much to do with anything in the world, come to think of it. Especially the none-more-remote rural parts where I come from. Breeds a weird outlook.

No, really, posting (because I HAVE to, you realize) as yet another American, this time from the Great State of Texas. South Central TX, in fact. Nothing like South Central L.A. Ancestry is pretty much half Mexican, half Spanish, though there are little tiny bits of a couple of other cultures in me. Second generation American; all grandparents emigrated from Mexico, though my mother's parents were pure Spanish in ancestry (long, drawn out explanation).

I'm Finnish, though I have no strong feelings for this place I was born. I guess it could be worse, though. At least we have free health care, free child care, national pension, governmental aid for students, free colleges and universities etc. If I'd born in some ultra-capitalist country I wouldn't probably have gotten this far (I'm an university student) due to my working-class background.
