OK, due to Parker Place now being exceedingly popular, certainly when it comes to december anyway, the only night I could get was:

Monday 8 December!

i realise this isn't exactly perfect, but hey, it's likely to be our last one there (ideas for new venues also welcome), and there will be Xmas fun aplenty.

As always its:

Parker Place
51 Parker Street
Off Kingsway
FREE ENTRY

6.30 til they kick us out.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 11:58 (twenty-two years ago)

excluding Islamists again, tut tut

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 12:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll be there!

The Hat Man (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 12:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually that may be Eid.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 12:03 (twenty-two years ago)

ha ha

a Monday night will be...interesting. i'm sure there will be some subsequent good ol fashioned weekend ruin to compliment this though

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 12:03 (twenty-two years ago)

the way I feel about my job right now I might just go along without taking a half day on Tuesday...

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 12:04 (twenty-two years ago)

It is 500 yards from my front door. I have no excuse.

(Except sheer laziness which gets me every time.)

Citizen Kate (kate), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 12:06 (twenty-two years ago)

get a job behind the bar at Parker Place, Kate, and you'll never have to darken the door of a bendybus or be the Mayor of Crankington ever again!

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 12:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Can you imagine the level of crankiness that the usual bar patrons would inspire in me?

Then again, I could be a total bitch and get my own revenge if *I* controlled the supply of alkyhol...

Citizen Kate (kate), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 12:11 (twenty-two years ago)

i was going to put [insert religious festival of choice] but the title was quite long as it was anyway...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 12:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Will there be a pre-Christmas *normal* FAP, people? Like wiv bar billiards an' ting?

Dr. C (Dr. C), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 13:05 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't think anybody would be interested in that

sir chasm (blueski), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 13:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes - the FT Xmas Party is nothing whatsoever to do with the ILE Christmas Party and Second Annual Bar Billiards Championship. Nobody's started organising that one though.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 13:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm around from Dec 5th ish so will start *coming to things* again. Ruin.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 13:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Will you be 'cutting a rug' with us Dr C?

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 13:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I fear Ally C and I will be returning to Scotland that afternoon, but if anyone wants to get their balls rolling at lunchtime, we will be pleased to accompany them.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 13:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey, that's also my sister's birthday! Play something rub like Carter or Shed 7 in her honor.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 13:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh god, now I remember why I don't go to these things, rubbish music, Andrew WK, yuck!

Citizen Kate (kate), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 13:46 (twenty-two years ago)

You just need to feel the voibe!

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 13:48 (twenty-two years ago)

There is a difference between Feeling A Voibe and Getting Your Ass Felt Up By An Unwanted Voibe.

Citizen Kate (kate), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 13:49 (twenty-two years ago)

**Will you be 'cutting a rug' with us Dr C?**

Oh yes. Shredding 'em.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 14:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Kate, *if* we play AWK, it will be last, so just leave 5 mins before the end, or go for a wee or something :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 14:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Go for a twee or something.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 14:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Also what is this "*if*" Carsmile?!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 14:26 (twenty-two years ago)

(i'm just trying not to scare her away, innit ;))

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 14:39 (twenty-two years ago)

the only good thing about hearing Andrew WK is the prospect of Matt DC crowdsurfing again altho this is less likely at Parker sadly

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 15:01 (twenty-two years ago)

If Matt DC doesn't crowdsurf I'm going to punch him in the cunt.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think he should have to if he doesn't want to. It was only the density of the crowd that made it at all possible.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

It was the destiny of the crowd, dude.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 17:51 (twenty-two years ago)

i think that's a bit harsh on the crowd Andrew

(cough)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 17:54 (twenty-two years ago)

OK - Nuclear War set or Europop 2003 set?

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 15:49 (twenty-two years ago)

balearic bubble party set

chris (chris), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 15:50 (twenty-two years ago)

chris puts the beef in Ibiza

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 16:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll put the "ow that Frikkin hurt" in Mannion soon

chris (chris), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 17:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Walthamstow Uncovered

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 17:29 (twenty-two years ago)

you better believe it old boy, see you Tuesday.

chris (chris), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 17:32 (twenty-two years ago)

two weeks pass...
In Europe and America, there's a growing feeling of hysteria
Conditioned to respond to all the threats
In the rhetorical speeches of the Soviets
Mr. Krushchev said we will bury you
I don't subscribe to this point of view
It would be such an ignorant thing to do
If the Russians love their children too

How can I save my little boy from Oppenheimer's deadly toy
There is no monopoly in common sense
On either side of the political fence
We share the same biology
Regardless of ideology
Believe me when I say to you
I hope the Russians love their children too

There is no historical precedent
To put the words in the mouth of the President
There's no such thing as a winnable war
It's a lie that we don't believe anymore
Mr. Reagan says we will protect you
I don't subscribe to this point of view
Believe me when I say to you
I hope the Russians love their children too

We share the same biology
Regardless of ideology
What might save us, me, and you
Is that the Russians love their children too

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 5 December 2003 15:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks, now I want to go murder something.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 5 December 2003 15:32 (twenty-two years ago)

a jolly, jaunty classic

stevem (blueski), Friday, 5 December 2003 15:40 (twenty-two years ago)

i am lunching at the anchor & hope with my sister on monday = i will turn up to this half-cut = unprecedented ruin on tuesday morning i suspect. i fear for the poor sixth formers arriving for university interviews who will be greeted by me...

toby (tsg20), Friday, 5 December 2003 15:49 (twenty-two years ago)

say to them DON'T COME TO UNI, THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS and breathe booze fumes on them :)

if i can just confirm to you all that the special guest star DJs (i know you can hardly wait) are:

DJ Cabbage
DJ Magnus (TBC) and
DJ Mrs E-Wing

along with the usual suspects.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 5 December 2003 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Toby (et al) - try drinking less.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 5 December 2003 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Carsmile, they are the usual suspects.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 5 December 2003 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

*spits beer over keyboard*

BURN THE HERETIC!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 5 December 2003 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Mark is unimpressed with all the boozy antics talk

stevem (blueski), Friday, 5 December 2003 16:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Sigh. I still haven't made up my mind.

THAT Kate (kate), Friday, 5 December 2003 16:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm unimpressed by a bunch of grown adults throwing around the term "ruin" like they're 15-year-olds boasting about the fact that they drunk REAL BOOZE in a PUB once.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 5 December 2003 16:24 (twenty-two years ago)

You should come, Kate - it's just a FAP with slightly louder music and twatty dancing in the last hour. Also, there is a front bit where you can hide should the Sultans of Ping prove too much for you.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 5 December 2003 16:24 (twenty-two years ago)

i think i will be able to attend at some point

charltonlido (gareth), Friday, 5 December 2003 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

barry none of the special guest stars have ever DJed at FT before, so i don't see how they can be :P

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 5 December 2003 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Barry, I was going to say that I still loved you on that other thread where folx was picking on you, but after that post, I'm not so sure!

MatDC - I *love* the Sultans of Ping, it's the REST of the music that scares the crap out of me!

THAT Kate (kate), Friday, 5 December 2003 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

They play other music?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 5 December 2003 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I hope the ruin loves its children too.

Where have people been picking on Barry? Seems a bit foolhardy to me.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 5 December 2003 16:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Barry is right, but Toby's allowed cos being a maths genius he's not supposed to get drunk or something

stevem (blueski), Friday, 5 December 2003 16:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Mark, we talk about most things with enthusiastic glee, why should parties, drinking and subsequent hangovers be any different? Every grown man has a 15 year old boy in them somewhere.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 5 December 2003 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

ie quit harshing the buzz, man.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 5 December 2003 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Every grown man has a 15 year old boy in them somewhere.

Michael Jackson isn't a grown man - DO YOU SEE?

stevem (blueski), Friday, 5 December 2003 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

barry none of the special guest stars have ever DJed at FT before, so i don't see how they can be :P

DJ Cabbage DJd at Sussed. Barry has a sense of continuity.

MarkH (MarkH), Saturday, 6 December 2003 14:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris DJed at the first sussed, which was about two and a half years ago, which hardly makes him a usual suspect.

Vicky (Vicky), Sunday, 7 December 2003 14:10 (twenty-two years ago)

awww, Mark's been at the Whiskas again.

chris (chris), Sunday, 7 December 2003 19:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Mark sweetie, bitterness will eat you up from the inside. And you really should be nicer to people you
1) Like
2) Go out with.

Please give up the internet hardman thing. In the pub and on AIM I think you're lovely. But here? Where is the love?

Anna (Anna), Monday, 8 December 2003 00:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Blimey, I don't know whether to be pleased about the attention or cry :)

Anna, you're quite right. I'm not crazy about the "ruin" meme, that's all, and I was having a crappy day when I harshed everyone's mellow earlier. So apologies for that - I'm really looking forward to tomorrow night and chatting and dancing with you all. I won't even throw anyone out (unless you want me to).

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 8 December 2003 00:40 (twenty-two years ago)

(and apologies about the "usual suspects" thing - Chris has also DJed at Tigermilking (I think?) and I read Mrs as Mr. I'm sorry I was in such a bad mood - consider my leaf well and truly turned over.)

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 8 December 2003 00:44 (twenty-two years ago)

TS: FT Xmas ruin vs Isobel Campbell

I'm in a quandary.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Monday, 8 December 2003 00:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Heh Mrs E. also DJed at Sussed.

But she is ill at the moment and may not make it now :(

My nuclear war set will be 80000000000000000 times better than Isobel Campbell if not quite as easy on the eye.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 8 December 2003 01:23 (twenty-two years ago)

My nuclear war set will be 80000000000000000 times better than Isobel Campbell

this is of course an understatement.

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 8 December 2003 09:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I am pleased to report that I had forgotten about some art party that HSA and his mum are dragging me to tonight. Happily, it's not even rubbish modern art, but a proper design and typography and the like doo! Hooray!

THAT Kate (kate), Monday, 8 December 2003 09:43 (twenty-two years ago)

it's still on for the balearic bubble party

chris (chris), Monday, 8 December 2003 09:47 (twenty-two years ago)

And you've got so much love to give...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 8 December 2003 09:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Indeed.

chris (chris), Monday, 8 December 2003 09:50 (twenty-two years ago)

bah i am still unwell my tummy is broken :'(

mark s (mark s), Monday, 8 December 2003 10:02 (twenty-two years ago)

My throat is hurting and one of my colleagues has called in sick with what she calls a "nasty throat infection".

Can we postpone Christmas just in case? I think the middle of March would be safe and would givbe me time to buy presents and that.

Tim (Tim), Monday, 8 December 2003 10:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Tim you need to medicate your mouth and throat area urgently. Luckily I know just the thing.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 8 December 2003 10:34 (twenty-two years ago)

oh sweet lord help me

Tim (Tim), Monday, 8 December 2003 10:35 (twenty-two years ago)

most Tims are safe by the middle of March but that 40 point mark is key

stevem (blueski), Monday, 8 December 2003 10:38 (twenty-two years ago)

If only that were true!

Tim (Tim), Monday, 8 December 2003 10:40 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.soccerbase.com/footballlive/?MIval=league2&competitionid=4&seasonid=132

:(

Tim (Tim), Monday, 8 December 2003 11:06 (twenty-two years ago)

aw, misery is you

stevem (blueski), Monday, 8 December 2003 11:07 (twenty-two years ago)

It's no good trying to appear sympathetic now, you knew what you were doing.

Tim (Tim), Monday, 8 December 2003 11:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Goodness me, this is tonight. I had completely forgotten. Which means that the tunes you get will be whatever is in mybag at the moment.

Interesting.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 8 December 2003 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't worry, Chris put plenty of cds in his case last night

Vicky (Vicky), Monday, 8 December 2003 14:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I am not sure of making it now - sorry chaps I'm sure you'll all miss me (!) - there, marvellous!

Sarah (starry), Monday, 8 December 2003 14:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm really looking forward to this, is someone going to get there realtively early to keep me company? Carsmile?

Vicky (Vicky), Monday, 8 December 2003 14:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I won't get there till about 7.15 :(

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 8 December 2003 14:42 (twenty-two years ago)

i'll be there by 7 BGT (British Gareth Time)

stevem (blueski), Monday, 8 December 2003 14:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I've no idea when I'll be there, but I will be there at some point.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Monday, 8 December 2003 14:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll be there by 6 hopefully. When I've finished the FT update.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 8 December 2003 14:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll be there as quick as I can, unfortunately the metropolitan line has a say in how quick this is.

chris (chris), Monday, 8 December 2003 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

ditto piccadilly (and stomach)

charltonlido (gareth), Monday, 8 December 2003 15:00 (twenty-two years ago)

My work day just got a hell of a lot more complicated, so I won't be over for this. Bah.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 8 December 2003 15:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll be there as soon as the bus from Oxford gets me there, being flet up by the bus driver notwithstanding.

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 8 December 2003 15:02 (twenty-two years ago)

felt!

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 8 December 2003 15:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Can we phone you and sing "We Want Farrell!" drunkenly down the line Andrew?

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 8 December 2003 15:08 (twenty-two years ago)

i am feeling better tummywise but i just discovered i need a new boiler hence cannot afford rounds or indeed xmas >:(

mark s (mark s), Monday, 8 December 2003 15:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I am still a bit worried about Barry punching me in the cunt.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 8 December 2003 15:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Mark round etiquette suggests that if you announce your poverty in good time then everyone will buy you drinks anyway. SO COME ALONG. Unless you're scared of nuclear armageddon and/or Hazel O Connor.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 8 December 2003 15:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Tico: Yes. Though you should ring also ring Lara, who has been sick-a-bed since Tuesday.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 8 December 2003 15:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Also I owe you a beer for losing your focus group comments :(

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 8 December 2003 15:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Tico have you forgotten how much the drinks ARE in Parkers? (This = quite urgent and key reason #1 why I am not coming)!

Sarah (starry), Monday, 8 December 2003 15:13 (twenty-two years ago)

It's £2.50 a pint if you get the jugs Starry, which is the same as anywhere else for premium lager drinkers. It's no excuse!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 8 December 2003 15:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Since the concept of a Nuclear War set has sufficiently intrigued me, I shall endeavour to make it down for about half 7 - depending on how quickly I can finish my Lambchop piece - before scooting off to see Ms Campbell at about 9. That'll do, I'm sure.

Starry, drinXor are cheapish if you buy two, remember!

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Monday, 8 December 2003 15:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Matt, I've turned over a new leaf, remember? No cunt-punching for Barry!

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 8 December 2003 15:16 (twenty-two years ago)

we need a new boiler as well mark s. no central heating or hot water from the tap for a week now :( i'm coming just to get out of that freezing house for as long as poss. - and to see you all of course - and do a Haka (maybe)

stevem (blueski), Monday, 8 December 2003 15:19 (twenty-two years ago)

i'll see how i feel later - i am no longer in actual pain but i am a bit fragile and wimblywambly

(i think i can resupply my focus group comments, i wrote them all down at the time) (hurrah!)

mark s (mark s), Monday, 8 December 2003 15:27 (twenty-two years ago)

That lager is FOUL! I guess I am paying the price for shunning The Fat Man (except the Fat Man is NICE!). And a tenner for two gins is NOT ON!

However seeing as I'm going to the pub first anyway I'll see how I feel after a jar (drat I AM WEAK).

Sarah (starry), Monday, 8 December 2003 15:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Well I'm about half an hour away from the final HTML coding Mark - I have your marks, I can put the comments in later though and get people to click on the piece twice, mmmm.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 8 December 2003 15:32 (twenty-two years ago)

i'll have a look and see if they're actually funny still and worth a second click

mark s (mark s), Monday, 8 December 2003 15:42 (twenty-two years ago)

i might come along, depending on what time my dinner thingy in some posh western part of town finishes up...any ideas how late these things go?

colette (a2lette), Monday, 8 December 2003 15:56 (twenty-two years ago)

not very late - usual Monday closing time sadly (11)

stevem (blueski), Monday, 8 December 2003 15:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Stevem, are you trying to put Colette off? Come along Colette, it'll be a blast. No, really.

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 8 December 2003 15:59 (twenty-two years ago)

well i wouldn't want her to turn up at 5 to 11 and be dismayed. better late than never tho i guess.

stevem (blueski), Monday, 8 December 2003 16:03 (twenty-two years ago)

so shall we just move this to a phone-box then?

only kidding, see you all in a bit :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 8 December 2003 16:16 (twenty-two years ago)

All back to mine, then! I only live just up the street!

Oh wait, hang on, I'm not even going to this.

THAT Kate (kate), Monday, 8 December 2003 16:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, Ithought this was what HSA's mum was taking you too.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 8 December 2003 16:22 (twenty-two years ago)

No, we are going to an art party! Or rather a design and typography since HSA's dad was a typographer.

Maybe we should bring HSA's mum! She likes all the ILXers that she's met! We could come along afterwards if it's still going!

(HSA actually wants to do a night which is D1s1nf0rmation vs. D1s1nf0rmtion's Mum and have HSA DJ and HSA's mum show slides and things of all her frightening archeological specimens and the like floating in formaldehyde in jars and the like.)

THAT Kate (kate), Monday, 8 December 2003 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

That sounds like a good night, Horse Hospitally, but fun (anything picked in jars gets the thumbs up from me. Bring her along!

Pete (Pete), Monday, 8 December 2003 16:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Humph, what's wrong with the Horse Hospital?

THAT Kate (kate), Monday, 8 December 2003 16:48 (twenty-two years ago)

eek, now i'm even more confused about if i should come or not!

i guess i'll see what time my dinner is finshed, if i get a ride into town, and how tired i am.

kate, if you guys have an after party of some sort, will you send me a text?

colette (a2lette), Monday, 8 December 2003 16:48 (twenty-two years ago)

(I doubt we'll have an afterparty due to me having to work tomorrow and being exhausted already, but on the EXTREMELY doubtful case that we do, I will.)

THAT Kate (kate), Monday, 8 December 2003 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

i keep seeing HSA on the screen so much that when it's time to check my balance online i keep getting the URL wrong

it is really fucked up that this is Monday, but you knew that

stevem (blueski), Monday, 8 December 2003 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Stevem - Its Christmas!!!

There is nothing wrong with the Horse Hospital, its just I never know quite what is going on there and hence miss everything. I think I was using the kind of sentence construction that gets me in trouble here at work.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 8 December 2003 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

HSA's mum at one point curated the Hunterian Collection, so she knows lots about strange things floating pickled in jars. (For this reason, I am quite suspicious about the strange pickled medieval fruit that she tries to get me to eat in Wiltshire. Pickled walnuts with shells on? No, I don't believe you, that's pickled Jeremy Bentham Teeth or something!)

THAT Kate (kate), Monday, 8 December 2003 16:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Pete if you dressed up as Noddy Holder and said that tonight i would be very happy.

stevem (blueski), Monday, 8 December 2003 16:53 (twenty-two years ago)

And what, pray tell is HSA doing on your screen, Stevem? Dammit, I can't even get decent wallpaper of him, how did you get him?

THAT Kate (kate), Monday, 8 December 2003 16:55 (twenty-two years ago)

The way your hair is going Steve you'd be better off doing it yourself. (xpost)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 8 December 2003 16:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey, that's my secret lover you're talking about there, DC!

THAT Kate (kate), Monday, 8 December 2003 16:56 (twenty-two years ago)

"hell-lo...stevem....you're...quite good..at...turning...me..on"

NO

stevem (blueski), Monday, 8 December 2003 16:57 (twenty-two years ago)

You mean, the whole time I've been having a secret affair with Stevem's hair, he's actually secretly had HSA on his screen? This is... so... confusing! Who has the right to be jealous here?

THAT Kate (kate), Monday, 8 December 2003 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Matthew you give me ideas

Kate, sorry but my hair and i are til death us do centre-parted

stevem (blueski), Monday, 8 December 2003 16:59 (twenty-two years ago)

nothing like a bad hair pun to truly bury a thread

stevem (blueski), Monday, 8 December 2003 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm going home in 3 minutes. It's nothing to do with your hair. ;-)

THAT Kate (kate), Monday, 8 December 2003 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

if i sell a strand on e-bay, would you pay?

stevem (blueski), Monday, 8 December 2003 17:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha ha!

THAT Kate (kate), Monday, 8 December 2003 17:03 (twenty-two years ago)

i'll take that as a maybe...

stevem (blueski), Monday, 8 December 2003 17:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Let's not forget I'm still trying to offload a *numbered* lock of Aphex Twin's hair from 1996...

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Monday, 8 December 2003 17:32 (twenty-two years ago)

To the happy lunatics that did indeed ring me up and sing "We Want Farrell" down the phone to me, I love you all.

I'm pleased that it went on until 11.30 (though secretly I'm hoping you wandered the streets for half an hour looking for a place that was playing "We Want Fun")

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 8 December 2003 23:37 (twenty-two years ago)

that was an odd old night and no mistake, good though - very good. I really do have too much love to give folks, and just remember, tonight thank god...........

Chris@vicky's (Vicky), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 00:02 (twenty-two years ago)

If someone actually played "Do they know it's Christmas?", then I have an extra five pounds of love for everyone.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 01:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Haircut 100! Jumpers! Shoulders! WHOO!

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 07:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm sure it was played about 10 bloody times Andrew

Vicky (Vicky), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 08:33 (twenty-two years ago)

You freaking CUNTS there is NEVER snow in Africa. That song bothers me.

Curse you, Ewing, I have the Sisters of Merthy stuck in my head. "How now, how brown cow, drink chocolate milk to me..."

So much for "we're just going to stop by for a quick pint before we go home" - I had to drag HSA off the dance floor around midnight!

THAT Kate (kate), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 08:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Of all the events for Tim and Gareth to miss out on...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 09:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't believe that I don't feel absolutely abysmal. Great night though - some very strange happenings all round.

chris (chris), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 09:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I feel quite rubbish. I can't believe I got that drunk on a Monday night. How HUGE were those glasses of wine? At the art party, we were drinking thimblefuls, so I had three, but the ones at the club... ugh! Poor HSA had to get up even earlier than me to go up to Derby to talk to a gallery.

THAT Kate (kate), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 09:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Also - new Ilxers! Nice to meet Colette again and actually talk semi-properly, and Barima - a fine fellow.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 09:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Cor yes, I'm surprisingly unruined too! Best Club FT ever!

(Sorry Andrew :) That was me and Stevem waving the phone around to make sure everyone shouted at you)!

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 09:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think I got to shout at Andrew because Barry and I were caught in the middle of some hyper-twee spinning dance thing during We Want Fun.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 09:35 (twenty-two years ago)

no surprises there. I missed all this as I hate fun, but I was in bed at midnight - which is good

chris (chris), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 09:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I may have spoken too soon about not feeling crap.......

chris (chris), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 09:58 (twenty-two years ago)

last night i dreamt of San Pedrooooooo

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:05 (twenty-two years ago)

It was great fun, except for the part when I fell down the stairs!

Mandee (Jerrynipper), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I am well pissed off I missed this now, what with all the goff that got played and all. Damn you rhinovirus!

Ricardo (RickyT), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Kate, if there's no snow in Africa, what's that on top of Kilimanjaro? Vanilla frosting?

chris (chris), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Mmmmmmmm.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:31 (twenty-two years ago)

(While I was ranting at the club, I did point out that the only snow in Africa was on the top of Killimanjaro or possibly on top of Table Mountain in July or August.)

THAT Kate (kate), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:32 (twenty-two years ago)

there's a fair bit in the Atlas mountains too, in winter.

chris (chris), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:37 (twenty-two years ago)

No rain or rivers flow (except ver Congo and, oh yeah, The Nile).

Admittedly the top of Kilimanjiro is mainly ice...

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:41 (twenty-two years ago)

And of course lots of the large number of Christians who populate Africa probably do know it is Christmas. Underneath that BURNING sun.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:42 (twenty-two years ago)

You know, I'm pretty sure it's safe to assume that there is no snow in Ethiopia or wherever it was the famine was that the record was charity for (I can barely remember the 80s) - not to mention that it completely ignores the fact that the famine was primarily POLITICAL in nature, and not really much to do with the lack of snow or rivers or rain or whathaveyou...

THAT Kate (kate), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:43 (twenty-two years ago)

there are some very high mountains in Ethiopia Kate.......

chris (chris), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I think its is safe to say that any song with the line
"Tonight thank god it's them instead of you" was not completely thought through. Let alone the politics of the situation.

Pop stars eh?

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:45 (twenty-two years ago)

i always thought DTKIC was a damning verdict on the education standards of much of the continent

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:46 (twenty-two years ago)

"the greatest gift they'll get this year is calculus" etc.

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:47 (twenty-two years ago)

who'd a thunk it, a ski-resort in Ethiopia?

chris (chris), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:48 (twenty-two years ago)

"there's a world outside yr window"
*pulls curtain*

WOW! So there is!

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:49 (twenty-two years ago)

According to Homer, the Greek Gods used to spend their vacations amidst the Simien mountains playing chess.

Deities on vacation is a concept that yields much amusement this morning

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:49 (twenty-two years ago)

My voice is completely shut today, and I have a pounding between my ears. Is this what you call "ruin"? Don't knock it till you've tried it, etc.

That was quite some night - it was almost as if everyone did, indeed, want fun. My only cringing this morning has come remembering the Wuthering Heights experience. Oh my.

Big shout out to the tart in the white top who tried it on with EVERYONE there and gave Vicky a big slobbery wet kiss at one point. Hurrah for drunken weirdos who put our own drunken weirdness into perspective.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I wonder where the Goddess of the Northern Line (and her daughters, High Barnet and Edgeware Branch) holiday?

THAT Kate (kate), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Big shout out to the tart in the white top who tried it on with EVERYONE there

sniff...and i thought i was special...

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Heh. What about the £50 New Years extravaganza with the COMPLIMENTARY ENTRY?!?!?

THAT Kate (kate), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:52 (twenty-two years ago)

sniff...and i thought i was special...

Oh you were, Steve, you were...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Big shout out to the tart in the white top who tried it on with EVERYONE there

I have her phone number if anyone wants it.

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I feel a bit bad now about threatening her with what I would do if she didn't stop sitting on my "boyfriend"s lap.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:54 (twenty-two years ago)

you rascal!

I nearly threw her from the podium after she pinched me for not playing Van Halen, instead I threatened to set Vicky on her - leading to the slobbery kiss.

Who on earth was she?

chris (chris), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:55 (twenty-two years ago)

i think ras dashen and some of the other simien peaks are snow covered for quite a bit of the year.

oh, may x-posts.

anyway, what is the reason specifically that it is bad that tim and i missed this one?

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:55 (twenty-two years ago)

she was the fiancee of the guy in the grey jumper. the one who was also snogging the other girl.

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:57 (twenty-two years ago)

life is cruel

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Did they lez up?

Dave B (daveb), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:58 (twenty-two years ago)

They were clearly looking for a fourth person to participate in some ginormous gangbang.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually, the best thing about that whole episode was the way Tom was *deliberately* slowing the music down to make stevem even more uncomfortable. Shame he didn't bring Ignition Remix with him really.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:03 (twenty-two years ago)

well done my children, you performed well last nite :) i'm still slightly wary of the north american sisterhood who seemed to be plotting something ;)

so anyway, anyone got any ideas for a new venue? i was warming again to PP last night, apart from the guinness and tetleys going off, but i think our days are probably numbered there...

tom deliberately doing something on the decks?? oh well, i suppose there's a first time for everything ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I think we were plotting what song we were going to dance to!

The New North American Sisterhood are all so TALL!!! It makes me happy, long being stranded with all these English dwarf women! ::ducks::

THAT Kate (kate), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh no Steve, I think we should go out on a high note :)

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:13 (twenty-two years ago)

i had a really good time as well, and feel fine today even though i had to get up extra early for a stupid work thing. it was much less scary than the last club night i went to, and was so kind of stevem to make sure i got the right bus home!

xpost: we were certainly planning and plotting. girl FAP 2 is in the works-- this time at a sometimes strip club! woo.

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:15 (twenty-two years ago)

How did I miss girlFAP 2 plotting? Wow, that would be awesome!

THAT Kate (kate), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:16 (twenty-two years ago)

(OK, I am spending too much time with American girls, I just said awesome and I wasn't being ironic or sarcastic.)

THAT Kate (kate), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:16 (twenty-two years ago)

that's like rilly OK kate, you go girl etc ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:17 (twenty-two years ago)

toadaly

chris (chris), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:18 (twenty-two years ago)

To the max! Like, gag me with a spoon! Bag those toenails!

THAT Kate (kate), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:19 (twenty-two years ago)

What was that delgados track you played Chris?

Dave B (daveb), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:21 (twenty-two years ago)

it was their cover of ELO's 'Mr Blue Sky' no?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:22 (twenty-two years ago)

indeed it was, from their all you need is hate single.

apparently it's "the worst cover version ever"

chris (chris), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Well I liked it = probably is the worst cover version ever. After all, I actually like 'Russians'.

Dave B (daveb), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Whoever said that to Chris is OTM.

Hem hem.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:30 (twenty-two years ago)

THANK MY LUCKY FUCK, oops, I mean, what a shame we missed the whole Nuclear Armageddon set, including Russians.

THAT Kate (kate), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought it was a fantastic cover. It's such a great song in any case it would be hard to ruin it. Also, the b-side to "Do they know it's Christmas" - woah.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Tom - where on earth did you get that Hiroshima and Nagasaki song, and what was it?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Hard, but not impossible. Rubbish! Boo! Down with this sort of thing!

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:39 (twenty-two years ago)

" It's such a great song in any case it would be hard to ruin it." - except by sucking all the style, life and sheer fun from it, which they did very well. well done the delgados

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Fun-hater.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Boca Juniors were unfairly cut down in their prime by the pop fascists

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:42 (twenty-two years ago)

The Delgados do indeed hate fun.

Ricardo (RickyT), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:43 (twenty-two years ago)

She was very very odd, marched over, gave me a big slobbery kiss, then quicky said that it was from myboyfriend, and it wasn't a lesbian thing... 'though I am a hot female...' cue coy looks, then wittered on asking if that was ok, and are things cool, and 'he really really loves you, you know' while plonking herself down on Mark's lap.

I really enjoyed the music last night, much better than usual ;0)

Vicky (Vicky), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:44 (twenty-two years ago)

yes - i got up for Boca Jrs just as it was taken off. also the "unplanned" fade of Mark Owen was a larf

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Aha! My TRL identity is revealed!!

Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, the music was better than usual.

Perhaps someone could list some of it. There were Duran, Flock of Seagulls, 'Russians', lots of things I liked.

It was an unusually good ilx night.

JtN even said that he would reread Ulysses over Xmas, and Amanda said that she would read part of the Portrait!

the pinefox, Tuesday, 9 December 2003 12:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Flock of Seagulls! I was so happy about that! HSA made the usual "big girls blouse" motions, but he is wrong. Damn, I need to get that album.

THAT Kate (kate), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 12:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Key event in my life - last night the voibe was so good that I was able to pee at a urinal *with someone standing next to me*

Seriously, this is important shit.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 12:46 (twenty-two years ago)

The man next to you was HSA, and it wasn't the Voibe you were feeling!

;-)

THAT Kate (kate), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 12:50 (twenty-two years ago)

mark, are you troubled by urinals? is this a known ILX fact?

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 13:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I believe there was a thread about it, yes. I'm not ashamed.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 13:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh dear heaven I did not feel well this morning. I think the horrible, horrible steak pie ('steak' 'pie') I had on the way home did not help.

Matt DC (and other interested parties) - that song is "Ole Man Atom" by the Sons Of The Pioneers.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 13:26 (twenty-two years ago)

there was a lot of 80s stuff - is this why everyone enjoyed it so much?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 13:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Coz we is old farts!

THAT Kate (kate), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 13:48 (twenty-two years ago)

was great to hear 'This Corrosion' and about 7 Pet SHop Boys tracks for sure - i did my best Chris Lowe impression during 'Always On My Mind'

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 14:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Key event in my life - last night the voibe was so good that I was able to pee at a urinal *with someone standing next to me*
Seriously, this is important shit.

If this is the case, Mark, you should really have been in a cubicle.

Lara (Lara), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 14:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I took my shoes off to demonstrate to north American sisterhood how small I actually am. It's bad nutrition, parents never recovered from rationing, wot no bananas etc.

(And then I remember I am taller than Suzy, just, but I kind of think of her as English anyway. I have no idea why.)

The more I hear of white vest girl, the more I think she is a fruit loop.

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 14:22 (twenty-two years ago)

a queen of ruin for this mark h's king

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 14:30 (twenty-two years ago)

THEY PLAYED THE DELGADOS! AND I MISSED IT!

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And there was me thinking Sarah was saying it was shit just to piss me off...

Re: white vest girl. Think her and her mate, Laura Ashley shirt girl, looked at me funny at one point. I frowned at them in any case.

But yeah, it woz wikkiid (correct amount of i's). Nice to meet Barima and Mark H.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 14:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, and apologies for attempting to shoehorn Shed Seven into every single conversation I had last night... not quite sure what was going on there.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 16:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Why, er, is Rick Witter a Scientologist or is that one conversation that escaped?

Kate 22 (kate), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 16:41 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.netcomuk.co.uk/~tewing/2003_12_07_singlesa.html#107098769343361138

War! What is it good for?

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 16:42 (twenty-two years ago)

It looked so good until I got to the end.

Ricardo (RickyT), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 16:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Rick Witter isn't really odd enough to be a Scientologist... or is he?

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

There is no age discrimination in Scientologist! I mean, he's younger than Beck!

(You're thinking of Freemasons who are all old. We were sitting in the Freemasons Arms when a whole gang of GENUINE FREEMASONS came in and had a drink. The whole "it's a football pub now, honest!" thing is just a front!)

Kate 22 (kate), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

William said odd not old, Kate!

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 17:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Whoops, my eyes are going. It must be the age. Damn, where is my cane?

Kate 22 (kate), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 17:03 (twenty-two years ago)

how do you tell freemasons are freemasons by looking at them anyways?

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 17:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, you so can. Trust me.

Kate 22 (kate), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 17:06 (twenty-two years ago)

did they all look like this?

http://www.pagrandlodge.org/freemason/0802/images/mess.jpg

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 17:08 (twenty-two years ago)

that G is for GRRRRIFFINDOR!

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 17:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Is Grandmaster Flash the only hip hop Freemason?

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 17:22 (twenty-two years ago)

no Mark, the handshake thing is unrelated

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 17:37 (twenty-two years ago)

"Woooooooo! You freak me out!"

God, all u crazies are so fucking funny. Last night was so fucked up. I was like Uncle Fester after the big Addams Family dance: "Then the crazy sexy lady smiled at me, mother, then wrapped herself around stevemackingit and we danced the cancan!"

Now I'm watching The Secret Life of Us in my shorts, while experiencing flashbacks. I think you guys have changed my life...

...for the worst!

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 02:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Nice to meet new people, nice to say 'hi' to older ones. Why are you guys talking about Freemasons? Is someone gonna post the lyrics to that "We Do" song from the Simpsons?

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 02:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Damn, stupid work filter (I swear it's run by Freemasons) I can't see Mark's pictures.

We should totally have our next FAP at the Freemason's Arms.

Kate 22 (kate), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 09:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey Barima, I met you right at the end and had no idea who you were, sorry. I was just leaving and so may have seemed a little rude at dashing off like that - sorry dude.

chris (chris), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 09:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Tom, your Armageddon set has given me much needed fodder for my nu-broadband connection. Thank you!

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 09:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh well in that case you might also want -

The Dickies - "Eve Of Destruction"
Kate Bush - "Breathing"
Duran Duran - "Is There Something I Should Know?"

not played cos of space reasons. AND

Pop Will Eat Itself - "Def Con One"

not played cos I forgot it. AND

Peter Tosh - "No Nuclear War"
Roger Waters - "The Tide Is Turning (After Live Aid)"

not played cos i) couldnt find it ii) it's awful.

and a bunch of other old country/blues atom bomb tracks which my CD Burner wouldn't burn for me, but I especially recommend:

Golden Gate Quartet - Atom And Evil
Lowell Blanchard - Jesus Hits Like The Atom Bomb
Jackie Doll and his Pickled Peppers - When They Drop The Atomic Bomb

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 10:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't believe you assumed I didn't already have (and love) "Breathing". And as for the rest, well, it's less the theme and more because the music is the bomb (eyethangyoo) that I'm going to d/l them...

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 10:44 (twenty-two years ago)

i like Fluke's 'Atom Bomb' (but it is no longer 1997, sadly). The Jam's 'A Bomb On Wardour Street' may also have been acceptable.

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 11:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Coldcut: Atomic Moog 3000
Prince: Ronnie, Talk to Russia

Enrique (Enrique), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 11:29 (twenty-two years ago)

just to give details about the possible girl FAP 2...because the girls at the club night were SO the best dancers, we were thinking about going dancing in jan/feb.

i was thinking about this terrible/wonderful place called cheapskates. it's a strip club some nights, but on wednesdays you pay a cover of like £5 and all the drinks are less than £1. maybe 50p. i was drinking so much that i can't remember.

and they have leopard print carpet. and mirrors EVERYWHERE. and stripper poles that they clamp little tables onto for non-stripping nights.

wow, i'm really selling it, aren't i?

other (better) ideas for a venue?

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 11:29 (twenty-two years ago)

better than a strip club? LET ME THINK

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 11:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Uuuhhh... I'm not so keen on the idea of having an ALL GIRL FAP at a strip club, coz there will be some dumb lairy boy there who will behave like Girl In The White Shirt and try to pull us all, ugh.

But dancing at the ALL GIRL FAP is probably U&K. We should start another thread about this after Xmas is all over.

Kate 22 (kate), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 11:31 (twenty-two years ago)

X-post; the Boy In The White Shirt will probably be Stevem!

::ducks::

Kate 22 (kate), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 11:32 (twenty-two years ago)

MarkH, surely?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 11:35 (twenty-two years ago)

i've found it's surprisingly un-meatmarket-ish. but that was during the summer, and it might be different because students are around...

Students ruin everything, ugh!

Kate 22 (kate), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 11:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Stevem in a white shirt? Which parallel universe would that be?

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 12:46 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, maybe he'd be WEARING a Hawaiian shirt, but he'd still be the GUY IN THE WHITE SHIRT.

Kate 22 (kate), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 12:50 (twenty-two years ago)

the one where i am forever stuck in 1999 temping at Bovis

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 12:50 (twenty-two years ago)

was there an OMD track tom?! i'm probably being stupid but i don't think you mentioned it on the nyplm post (internet here is too slow to check though).

toby (tsg20), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 13:39 (twenty-two years ago)

OMD - Enola Gay

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 13:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks and sorry to those who talked to me on the night - I was way below my usual pretty poor level, what with the physical, mental and emotional stress of my move, which is currently ruining my life (latest update:: the brand new quality boiler I had installed yesterday worked for about one hour!), so i was low and tired and in a pretty poor mood and so on.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 13:59 (twenty-two years ago)

The New North American Sisterhood are all so TALL!!!

Who is in this sisterhood? The one's I've met have been half-tall half-not-so-tall (IE yrself and suzy)

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 14:42 (twenty-two years ago)

"ones", even.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 14:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I assume it includes Colette, Sarah and Mandee.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 14:44 (twenty-two years ago)

.. not the Sarah I'm thinking about, it's safe to say.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Sarah is Barry's non-ilx lady. (Do you lurk Sarah?) She is quite tall, as is Mandy, as is Colette.

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Sarah posts sometimes as SGS ppl!!!!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:16 (twenty-two years ago)

PP is back :) all we need now is the return of Momus and ILX Glory Days have truly returned...

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Or rather as sgs - she doesn't like to shout :)

(hey hon!)

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought I felt my ears burning...

sgs, Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:24 (twenty-two years ago)

and thanks for the correction Pinkpanther :)
(hi Mark!)

sgs, Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:26 (twenty-two years ago)

MOmus was on the "judge me by my living room" thread this afternoon!

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Sarah's email address has just made my sides literally* split :)

*literally in a metaphorical way, obv.

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:40 (twenty-two years ago)

the question* is 'does she call you Barry after dark'?

*we're too afraid to ask

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:43 (twenty-two years ago)

huh?!?

sgs, Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:46 (twenty-two years ago)

indeed

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:55 (twenty-two years ago)

You sick fuck, m.

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:01 (twenty-two years ago)

quite

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:09 (twenty-two years ago)

i mean, QUIET!

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:10 (twenty-two years ago)

You're welcome Ms Lasagne, we who are princesses (sadly in name only)have to stick together! ;-)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Heh! That reminded me of Sarah in A Little Princess shouting at the nasty headmistress (it was she of the "go to dee weendow" fame, but I can't remember her name) that ALL LITTLE GIRLS ARE PRINCESSES!!!

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

No Kate, just those with the name 'Sarah' are princesses!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

That's not what her daddy said!

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

*shudders*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

No, he was a nice daddy! And the freaky Indian servant with the monkey said so, too!

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh no, yellow fever, OH NO!!

Papa (starry), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Or whatever the shit he died from.

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm actually not that tall. I just look that way.

Mandee (Jerrynipper), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, in the film it was TRENCHFEVER except it wasn't it, was just shellshock, and he was alive anyway. Plus, he was American, which was totally weird, because what the heck was he doing in WWI in 1914 WHEN AMERICA WAS ISOLATIONIST ANYWAY!!! - god, I hate dumbed-down American remakes of films.

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I've had a scan through my collection, and here are some more nuclear apocalypse tracks that could have been featured (I was surprised to find you'd already mentioned Jackie Doll & His Pickled Peppers!):

Altern-8 - Armageddon
Horace Andy - Armageddon
Glenn Barber - Atom Bomb
Brand Nubian - Drop The Bomb
Jimmy Cliff - Nuclear War
Ansel Collins - Nuclear Weapon
Culture - Armageddon
Electrohippies - Mega Armageddon Death
Funkadelic - Wars of Armageddon
Majistrate - Fallout
Napalm Death - Armageddon X7
Nuclear Assault - Nuclear War
Prince Far-I - Armageddon
Problem Child - Nuclear Device
Public Enemy - Countdown To Armageddon
DJ Skull - Nuclear Fallout
Trouble Funk - Drop The Bomb
Weirdos - We Got The Neutron Bomb

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 11 December 2003 22:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah Maura recommended the Weirdos one but nobody on slsk had it! Also Bounty Killer has done a song called "Nuclear War" about 9/11 but the MP3 I have of it sounds like it was encoded on a ZX81.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 11 December 2003 22:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Freak-freak like a bomb and just explode/I'm gonna act like a bomb and just go BOOM.

Barima (Barima), Friday, 12 December 2003 05:54 (twenty-two years ago)

'Nuclear War' by Sun Ra. He was against it.

Andrew L (Andrew L), Friday, 12 December 2003 08:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Very sound of him I think.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 12 December 2003 09:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Mandee is five-eight. It says so on her driver's license. That's pretty tall from where I'm sitting. In a few hours she'll be back among her own kind and be able to relate slightly unbelievable tales of how she visited a land where everyone was four-eleven in their socks.

I'm sorry to have missed Monday. Can't believe Tom omitted Gentle Despite's Caff 7" 'Strontium-90 (I Yawn Blood)'.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Friday, 12 December 2003 10:08 (twenty-two years ago)

On the Strontium tip, I brought up Strontium Dog when I was in the toilets with Tom, but he wasn't having any of it.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 12 December 2003 10:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I quite rightly told you you shouldnt have swallowed him in the first place Mark.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 12 December 2003 10:16 (twenty-two years ago)

no Def Leppard was a shame - 'Gods Of War' or 'Armageddon It'

stevem (blueski), Friday, 12 December 2003 10:46 (twenty-two years ago)

i LOVE the fact that there's loads of tall girls around here. and sarah is actually taller than me! that hardly ever happens. so exciting.

and, PP, i have to inform you that i've been officially recognized as a princess-- princess crabbypants to be precise. but that's still a princess. queen/mayor kate said it was ok. we had a state visit. i'm even wearing a pink t shirt today. shock horror.

colette (a2lette), Friday, 12 December 2003 10:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Didn't anyone take pictchers?

Lara (Lara), Friday, 12 December 2003 15:33 (twenty-two years ago)

God, I hope not.

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Friday, 12 December 2003 15:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Pink t huh Colette? Well then you must be a princess! ;-)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 12 December 2003 15:59 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry lara, i don't think anyone did :(

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 12 December 2003 16:40 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm very glad they didn't this time

stevem (blueski), Monday, 15 December 2003 11:35 (twenty-two years ago)

me too. it could be, uh, incriminating.

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 15 December 2003 11:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, the only thing that saddens me is, we might actually have got an ILX picture of HSA that wasn't just of the back/top of his head!

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Monday, 15 December 2003 11:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Gah where is a Google Image Search picture of the Mr Loverman sleeve when you need one?!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 15 December 2003 11:43 (twenty-two years ago)
