London ILE Christmas Party. Agree a date by, oh, 3pm today or the steering committee will just have to pick one.

TIM HOPKINS (Tico Tico), Friday, 5 December 2003 10:56 (twenty-one years ago)

RIGHT. That's IT. I'm OFF.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Well done!

Vicky (Vicky), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:01 (twenty-one years ago)

(not really, sorry V)

Tim (Tim), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Is monday 22nd too late?

Vicky (Vicky), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I Was thinking it should be a Saturday. Why?

Tim (Tim), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I wasn't saying well done to you! Just that someone stopped fannying around.

Vicky (Vicky), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Thinking it should be a Saturday = you need an excuse for all day drinking?

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think we stand a cat in hells chance of getting a saturday people will be happy about.

Vicky (Vicky), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Saturday is much harder to organise.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Thursday 18th

stevem (blueski), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:04 (twenty-one years ago)

18th bad - non-mentalist friend's birthday

Alan (Alan), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Can't do the 18th. Nor can several others if I've got my dates right.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Tom's right

Vicky (Vicky), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:06 (twenty-one years ago)

17th or 19th?

stevem (blueski), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Saturday 20th? Is it sheer insanity to organise a Central London FAP on the last weekend before Christmas?

The 17th is bad for me, as is next weekend - I'm pretty flexible with any other date.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:09 (twenty-one years ago)

17th = no

19th? (social secretary V?)

chris (chris), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:09 (twenty-one years ago)

22nd is too late for me. Friday 19th is good from an all day drinking point of view cos its my last day at work and I'm drinking from lunchtime (free beer).

Pete (Pete), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I was going to say I can't do the 19th as it's a friday, but I'm free. I am on the 17th too, but I've got to be at city airport on the 18th at 8am for a flight to Dublin, so the 17th's not great.

Vicky (Vicky), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:10 (twenty-one years ago)

19th IT IS!!!!!!!!

Pete (Pete), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:10 (twenty-one years ago)

19th = last Friday before Christmas = people arriving late = absolute carnage in central London.

I say we do it.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Friday 19th is fine except for ruin follow-on from the day before. I think I have to move all my stuff out of my office around then.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:10 (twenty-one years ago)

this will be brilliant

Alan (Alan), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:11 (twenty-one years ago)

That's settled then.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Calling other ex-lurkers and outcasts: d'you ever get tempted to FAP?

N-Ri-K (Enrique), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:12 (twenty-one years ago)

19th yay

Glasshouse?
Fitzroy?
Blue Posts?
SOAS bar? ;)

stevem (blueski), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:13 (twenty-one years ago)

grrrrrrreat!

where?

I finish at three on Fridays - never have I been more thankful

chris (chris), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I love it when a plan comes together.

Emma, Friday, 5 December 2003 11:13 (twenty-one years ago)

and such a jaunty plan too

Alan (Alan), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:14 (twenty-one years ago)

i'll be on my way to michigan on the 19th. but if the tide shifts and it happens on the 17th, i'd love to come along.

any michigan or chicago FAPS happening between the 19th-29th? i think it's going to be a LOOONNNGGG week at home.

colette (a2lette), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Crikey this will be uncomfortable unless we can get some advance troops pout to stake out our territory.

If we are to have bar billiards then our venue choices are rather limited.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Do we have a hope in hell of booking downstairs at the Glasshouse Stores?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:15 (twenty-one years ago)

BOOKING????!!!! Did Wellington "book" Waterloo?!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Well we could ask the people at the Wellington if they've a bookable area...

Tim (Tim), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:17 (twenty-one years ago)

they do - i did

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Eh can't we try the other pub with Bar Billiard on Great Portland Street? I am getting weary of the GHS and also we might have better chances with the other one. I can base this on non-scientific fact that it has seemed a little quieter than GHS lately.

Sarah (starry), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

The 19th is my last day of work. Ruin awaits.

Citizen Kate (kate), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I finish at about three that Friday and will be pissed already on "dregs of the optics" punch. SOAS bar will be shut unfortuantely, but happy to stake out places for early evening rush. Somewhere central but secret.... (The GPS place sounds idea actually).

Pete (Pete), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:29 (twenty-one years ago)

who has a nice telephone voice?

stevem (blueski), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Hold on, do you mean the Horse & Groom on GPS? Or somewhere else?

Tim (Tim), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:38 (twenty-one years ago)

What is the big shiny place on GPS? I want to go there! Last night as I walked home, I noticed that it was all done up for Xmas and looked very shiny and gin palace-y. I made a note of what it was called, but ruin and art parties erased my memory. Might have been the H&G.

THAT Kate (kate), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Cor, is there another pub on GPS with a bar billiards table?

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Does the H&G have a BBT? I can't remember it.

Kate the H&G is probably the most ginpalacey of the pubs I know on GPS but there are a few contenders.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:46 (twenty-one years ago)

How about seeing if the pub where Colette's do was would let us have upstairs?

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I know nothing of the BBT. But it has very shiny windows and it's South of Wimpole or Weymouth St or whatever it's called, but quite far North of Mortimer St.

THAT Kate (kate), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:48 (twenty-one years ago)

On the eastern side of the road? That sounds like it. Once I saw the Ma... oh don't worry.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:50 (twenty-one years ago)

nnion?

stevem (blueski), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:51 (twenty-one years ago)

no Tim, that story has had it's quota'd useage for the year, maybe in 2004, when the anecdote treaty is ratified.

chris (chris), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:51 (twenty-one years ago)

:( i will be in smelly north on the 19th :(

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Chris I think I may have fished the stocks of that particular anecdote so heavily that the International Storytelling Commission have placed an indefinite ban on any further re-telling. I may go to Norway or Japan who are stubbornly resisting the treaty.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Eastern side, yes. What's the Ma?

THAT Kate (kate), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Malibu explode?

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

This ring any bells (beers)?

http://www.fancyapint.com/thepubs/pubpics/pic30.jpg

Pete (Pete), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:57 (twenty-one years ago)

The Ma... = The WELSH band who a certain poster may have seen in a certain pub before they had reached a certain level of fame.

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:58 (twenty-one years ago)

The Magenta Plates!

stevem (blueski), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:59 (twenty-one years ago)

So, we are DEFINITELY going to try and book/reserve somewhere, right?

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I believe it does, TimTim - I think it's on the right by the stairs. I don't mind checking this out first though.

Sarah (starry), Friday, 5 December 2003 12:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Bazza: wrong!

Starry: you're a saint! So selfless...

Tim (Tim), Friday, 5 December 2003 12:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I really hate when you lot do this. OK, fine. I just don't care any more since it's obvious that no one is actually going to tell me, la la la la la. ::sticks fingers in ears::

THAT Kate (kate), Friday, 5 December 2003 12:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Kate, I gave you enuff clues!

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 5 December 2003 12:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Tim, why on earth not?

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 5 December 2003 12:03 (twenty-one years ago)

We haven't a hope.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 5 December 2003 12:04 (twenty-one years ago)

It's that kind of negative attitude that lost the Falklands.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 5 December 2003 12:04 (twenty-one years ago)

The Magnetic Fields are not from Wales?!?!?

THAT Kate (kate), Friday, 5 December 2003 12:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I will be doing my selfless investigating next Monday if anyone wants to investigate with me :)

Sarah (starry), Friday, 5 December 2003 12:06 (twenty-one years ago)

There were four of them, and now there are three, but their comnbined weight is now greater than it was when there were four.

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 5 December 2003 12:06 (twenty-one years ago)

New Order aren't Welsh, are they? When did Macclesfield become part of greater Wales rather than Greater Manchester?

THAT Kate (kate), Friday, 5 December 2003 12:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Riccy T, that is the funniest sick joke evah!

chris (chris), Friday, 5 December 2003 12:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Also they know as much about cosmetics as they do about sport and would therefore win Kate's pub quiz hands down.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 5 December 2003 12:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh! Now I get it! One of them wants to paint my toenails, doesn't he?

THAT Kate (kate), Friday, 5 December 2003 12:10 (twenty-one years ago)

yes Kate, it is the 60 foot Dolls

chris (chris), Friday, 5 December 2003 12:11 (twenty-one years ago)

a pub quiz which combined sport and cosmetics may be best then, although i fear this would mean the answer to every question was 'Barry Venison'

stevem (blueski), Friday, 5 December 2003 12:11 (twenty-one years ago)

mmm.... Barry's venison.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 5 December 2003 12:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Chewy!

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 5 December 2003 12:15 (twenty-one years ago)

And covered in cheese.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 5 December 2003 12:15 (twenty-one years ago)

a bit hairy though

chris (chris), Friday, 5 December 2003 12:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I feel we may have effectively discouraged any lurkers from attending by this point.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 5 December 2003 12:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, we already have two cannibalism threads going right now, must we make this a third?

THAT Kate (kate), Friday, 5 December 2003 12:17 (twenty-one years ago)

it won't book itself you know ;)

stevem (blueski), Friday, 5 December 2003 13:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Macclesfield? Greater Manchester? Am I hearing you right?

Local Government Commission (daveb), Friday, 5 December 2003 13:23 (twenty-one years ago)

apparently there is a pub quiz at the Horse & Groom on the 19th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

stevem (blueski), Monday, 8 December 2003 18:24 (twenty-one years ago)

A special Xmas pub quiz, aparently. It's such a pretty shiny pub, I don't do pub quizzes, but it's so pretty and shiny that I want to go.

THAT Kate (kate), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 09:00 (twenty-one years ago)

what is happening with this?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, it's my last day of work, so I want to go out drinking! If no one suggests anything else, I reccomend we all go and participate in this pub quiz!

THAT Kate (kate), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:20 (twenty-one years ago)

at this rate as i will be at a quiz every night next week - only Thursday to fill up now, excellence

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll pop over and check this at lunchtime if you want - I doubt we'll be able to book a room upstairs or owt if there's a quiz on so we'd have to get there early (haha).

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think that anyone has congratulated Hopkins on the THREAD TITLE.

the pinefox, Tuesday, 9 December 2003 16:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, congratulations Tim.

Sarah did you go to the boozer at lunchtime?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 16:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, good work Tim.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

it was Pete's idea

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Hopkins Hopkins he's our man, if he can't do it, no-one can!!

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

just to re-iterate:

TIM HOPKINS (oratleast@itoughttobe.com), December 5th, 2003 10:56 AM. (Tico Tico)

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 16:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Arrgh. The 19th is the combined birthday party of my friends Alice and Tom, and they live just round the corner from me, so I am unlikely to make it into town for preparty drinks.

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

The Pinefox made me cry.

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 16:28 (twenty-one years ago)

(Alan, I think that may have been the point)

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 16:28 (twenty-one years ago)

(ok. i'm just piling the pressure on that thread-starting-shy fool)

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 16:38 (twenty-one years ago)

It's my department's Xmas meal that day, and on to the pub afterwards, but I won't stay there long - I'll be at the FAP.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 18:37 (twenty-one years ago)

i fly to france on the 18th :-(

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 19:26 (twenty-one years ago)

so is it still determined to go to a pub that's having it's weekly pub quiz?

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 10:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, until someone else comes up with - I MEAN, FREAKING GETS OFF THEIR ASS AND ORGANISES - an alternative...

Kate 22 (kate), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 10:21 (twenty-one years ago)

bump

stevem (blueski), Monday, 15 December 2003 11:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I think the last Friday before Christmas any pub that is doing its weekly Friday night (!) pub quiz will have a vague idea exactly what the upshot will be.

Team of thirty?

Pete (Pete), Monday, 15 December 2003 11:52 (twenty-one years ago)

There is an upstairs room. I've no idea if it's booked or what, as it's a different story to read the posters outside than actually go INTO the pub and ask a stranger. However, the team limit is 5.

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Monday, 15 December 2003 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyway, we will be near the Yorkshire Grey if we need an out. But since some of us are getting there at 4-ish, frankly anything that keeps us lively is a GOOD THING.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 15 December 2003 11:57 (twenty-one years ago)

yay!

stevem (blueski), Monday, 15 December 2003 14:57 (twenty-one years ago)

HELLOOOOOOOOOOO ENGLAND! YOU WILL NOT BE STOOD UP! I AM HERE!!!!

So ok I'm sitting at the 7p-a-minute computer in this hotel relatively near Paddington Station. I think I've finally tackled this jet-lag bastard, saw the Tait Modern today (was great!) and can't wait till Friday to meet you all (also my beer buddy Harlan DEMANDS that I try cask ale and lots of it!)! Can anybody give me directions to this pub from the Paddington Station underground station? And what time should I show up? Hope to see plenty of you there.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 20:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Hello To Our American Friends.

Both Great Portland Street tube and Paddington are on the Circle Line. Take the Circle Line in whichever direction has less stops.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Thursday, 18 December 2003 09:21 (twenty-one years ago)

There's a pound an hour internet cafe on the corner, in an upstairs shop, kitty-corner from Paddington. Waste not your money on expensiveness!

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Thursday, 18 December 2003 09:23 (twenty-one years ago)

how long a walk is this from Oxford Street? Not that distance scares me. Will people really be there from 4? Coz I could get there by then, as I will probably be wussy and leave at nine-ish.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 18 December 2003 18:00 (twenty-one years ago)

between 5 and 15 minutes jel, but i don't know exactly where the pub is myself

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 18 December 2003 18:04 (twenty-one years ago)

oh cool, I shall find it. Please ignore the awful state of my hair, and don't laugh if I'm wearing a hairband.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 18 December 2003 18:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I think it's about halfway up GPS from OC, on the right-hand (East) side.

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 18 December 2003 18:07 (twenty-one years ago)

jel i may rock the hairband with you

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 18 December 2003 18:25 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah I'm in a pound a half-hour internet bar now. I just was using the hotel one cuz I was cold. I should definitely be able to find this! Awright so it's from the Horse'n'groom on GPS with people starting to arrive at 4! See ya tomorrow!

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Thursday, 18 December 2003 22:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't know when I'll arrive - departmental Xmas meal at 1, and it will be hard to avoid one drink in the pub afterwards, so it might be more like my usual 6pm than 4 for me. But we'll see.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 18 December 2003 22:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Ahem someone just came home from their work do which they'd "won" by removing colleagues from shitey boring party and introducing them to The Social, and made a very lengthy long-distance call to his pal Huey at Armitage Shanks upon his return home. I've never heard anything in my life quite like this call. Oh goody goody I can't wait for morning.

suzy (suzy), Friday, 19 December 2003 03:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Okay dudes, I will be there at 5ish, can't miss the opportunity to visit some comic shops...though I don't think I like the new Forbidden Planet, at least Gosh is still old school...see ya later.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 19 December 2003 08:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Gosh still exists? blimey

stevem (blueski), Friday, 19 December 2003 10:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I will be there dead early I think.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 19 December 2003 10:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Me too I think

Tim (Tim), Friday, 19 December 2003 10:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll be there between 5:30 and 6. HSA will also be joining us.

This is going to have to double as my work leaving do, as well, though I'll be nice and not actually bring anyone from my office. ;-)

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Friday, 19 December 2003 10:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Depending on how successful I am at obtaining the item of presentage I should be 4-4:30-ish. Unless the video being filme doutside my office slows me down.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 19 December 2003 11:10 (twenty-one years ago)

have you a starring role?

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 19 December 2003 11:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I could be there any time between 5.30 and 8.00. Depending.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 19 December 2003 11:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh no, there's a vid being filmed around there? How close? If traffic is blocked off, this may impeded HSA's arrival as well. :-(

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Friday, 19 December 2003 11:17 (twenty-one years ago)

God knows my ETA now - I hear our lunchtime drinks will probably take up all afternoon - I should do some shopping but my bag is so full of crap now I can't be arsed. Anytime between four and six I should imagine.

Kate I think there is quite a big window for arrivals, it won't matter if HSA is a little earlier or later :)

Sarah (starry), Friday, 19 December 2003 11:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't want to be out too late, as I haven't slept well the past few nights.

(Ha ha, I say this as I approach my ersatz leaving do/Xmas party/everything, hello ruin!)

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Friday, 19 December 2003 11:20 (twenty-one years ago)

They are only filming outside the door to SOAS so not traffic problem. They appear to have a huge rose petal cannon, but no band apparently.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 19 December 2003 11:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm leaving bang on three, not doing any shopping either so I'll be there at 4/430

and Phear me, I'll have a working Bop-It with me

chris (chris), Friday, 19 December 2003 11:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Phear me, I'll have a working Bop-It with me

This has MADE MY DAY!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 19 December 2003 11:26 (twenty-one years ago)

OH FUCKING CHRIST NOT THAT FUCKING BOP IT THING! I came close to homicide on my last holiday because of it.

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 19 December 2003 11:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Guessing half five or six. Might do a bit of shopping, but am MOST DEFINITELY not leaving home before the end of the Fifteen To One Grand Final.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Friday, 19 December 2003 11:28 (twenty-one years ago)

i intend to get very drunk and embarass each and every one of us

this plan may change during the day tho

stevem (blueski), Friday, 19 December 2003 11:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I will be there some time between five and six. Going to the pub at lunchtime with work as well. Oh dear.

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 19 December 2003 11:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I now plan on staying all night, so I may witness the delightful ways in which Stevem embarrasses himself. And hope and pray to dear god that it involves his hair. ;-)

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Friday, 19 December 2003 11:36 (twenty-one years ago)

he's going to shave it all off and present it to you in a big baggie

chris (chris), Friday, 19 December 2003 11:40 (twenty-one years ago)

i just got given two bottles of wine at work...

stevem (blueski), Friday, 19 December 2003 11:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Stevem can you check your email (the blueski one. if it works. otherwise I will have to try another one.)

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 19 December 2003 11:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha so did I Steve.

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 19 December 2003 11:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I got 4 bottles of Kroney and two glasses

chris (chris), Friday, 19 December 2003 11:55 (twenty-one years ago)

fancy a trade chris?

stevem (blueski), Friday, 19 December 2003 13:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Stevem, I kiss you! (But obviously not in an overtly saucy manner that would make HSA jealous or do anything rememdy yr sexual frustration, either, sorry) ;-)

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Friday, 19 December 2003 13:37 (twenty-one years ago)

(Unless of course, that's what is required to get the free bottle of wine!)

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Friday, 19 December 2003 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Friday, 19 December 2003 13:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Emma, Friday, 19 December 2003 13:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Hogarth would be there, sodden with gin in a corner! 1730 FAP would Rocketh!

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Friday, 19 December 2003 13:50 (twenty-one years ago)

i am thinking about leaving for the pub in a minute

stevem (blueski), Friday, 19 December 2003 15:23 (twenty-one years ago)

You just want to be first to the bar!

I have actually finished for the day, and technically I could go, but I've got a tonne of email to catch up on before I leave the world of internet.

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Friday, 19 December 2003 15:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Chris has already left work, but it'll take him a while to get into town.

I'm having the most useless day at work, I think I'll go and play with some nail varnish for the next 40 mins.

Vicky (Vicky), Friday, 19 December 2003 15:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Steve I forbid you to go to the pub that early, I know what all-day drinking does to you.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 19 December 2003 15:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I leave in five minutes to whip round Oxford street and there. Total time will be 45 minutes I reckon.

After spending three hours serving behind our bar, sipping my own "dregs punch" I am already considerably drunkard. Heee heee.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 19 December 2003 15:25 (twenty-one years ago)

We'll be down later, I have to recover from last night's ruin. I might be on the Orange Juice.

Ed (dali), Friday, 19 December 2003 15:26 (twenty-one years ago)

One! More! Hour! One more hour to go!!!!!!

::does butt dance in chair::

::notices C**** getting excited at butt dance and feels dirty::

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Friday, 19 December 2003 16:11 (twenty-one years ago)

"Y Viiiiiiiva Espaaagnaaa!"

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 19 December 2003 16:15 (twenty-one years ago)

No, we are not going to Spain. I don't care if it's on my way home. I have to do all my Xmas shopping tomorrow and it's going to be hell enough without a hangover.

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Friday, 19 December 2003 16:16 (twenty-one years ago)

right i'm off. see you in the pub

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Friday, 19 December 2003 16:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm stuck at work still :(

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 19 December 2003 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Half an hour of 2003 work to go! I'm so excited I'm going to sit here wasting it my tweaking my Fantasy League team.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 19 December 2003 16:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish I was able to head straight to the pub now. In London.

join the monastery.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 19 December 2003 16:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not sure I'd handle the tonsor.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 19 December 2003 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Ronan Ryanair will probably fly you over for 25p in time, bring Farrell with you!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 19 December 2003 16:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Ronan, go to airport, get on plane to London.

DO IT

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 19 December 2003 16:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Hooray! Then Ronan and I can make out, I mean FITE!!! in person!

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Friday, 19 December 2003 16:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Right, bums to work, I'm off to the pub.

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 19 December 2003 16:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I hate you all! I have half an hour left!

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Friday, 19 December 2003 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I have 2 euro 50 in my pocket, the petrol light in the car is on and I presume it will get me home.

Rock on everyone, I am going home but soon beer will be mine.

Actually before I go I just noticed there's a crate of Red Bull unattended beside me, should I nick it?

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 19 December 2003 16:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Ten more minutes. I just can't sit still.

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Friday, 19 December 2003 16:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Right! This is IT!!! I am OUT OF HERE!!! Wooo!!! Shutting down the computer and going now!

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Friday, 19 December 2003 17:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Moi aussi - gotta buy the staff a drink, then off to Horse and Groom.

Dave B (daveb), Friday, 19 December 2003 17:14 (twenty-one years ago)

right, for 'shopping' in my earlier post read 'half-arsed washing-up'. Saw Fifteen To One, though. It's gone, man. Like, forever.

I might be there about eight.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Friday, 19 December 2003 18:01 (twenty-one years ago)

The quiz was won by a team called "Fat Old Rockists".

I would describe this FAP as ruling from on high.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Saturday, 20 December 2003 01:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Christmas singalongs! Especially the Slade version which went -

"So here he is, Andrew Farrell, and he's going to buy a round"

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Saturday, 20 December 2003 01:15 (twenty-one years ago)

this wz a nice fap: hopkins talked abt basque literature

mark s (mark s), Saturday, 20 December 2003 10:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I feel fine! I have a horrific idea I might still be drunk.

Sarah (starry), Saturday, 20 December 2003 11:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I could hear you all singing Band Aid half way down the road!!!

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 20 December 2003 11:44 (twenty-one years ago)

It was one of the best faps ever.

Farrell's entrance was noted.

the pinefox, Saturday, 20 December 2003 12:20 (twenty-one years ago)

It ruled! Especially Mr Farrell's surprise entrance - I don't think any other Ilxer has ever had the entire FAP *sing* their name before.

I now know why I never drink on an empty stomach... I had to leave an hour early because I think my body had decided that staying on would have been not ruin, but sheer disaster.

The Handsome Sound Artists came bottom of the ILX quiz league :(

I had a sore throat this morning.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 20 December 2003 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I was unable to attend this as it was our work departmental meal. When my boss, sitting next to me, insisted on tickling me. Fortunately, as of the end of the year she is no longer my boss.

MarkH (MarkH), Saturday, 20 December 2003 14:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I bought the All-American Rejects coz Anthony said they were good, and they are! Thanks dude!

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 20 December 2003 19:26 (twenty-one years ago)

it was cool to meet anthony.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 20 December 2003 20:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I had a great time, and coming away with a record voucher and some free beer, from my modest contribution to our quiz victory (my first ever pub quiz, weirdly), as well as some decently successful games of bar billiards and loads of good conversation made it one of my favourite ever FAPs.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 21 December 2003 01:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Jesus, I was a mess for most of yesterday, amixture of cold and hangover methinks. It was good to meet Anthony, yes.

chris (chris), Sunday, 21 December 2003 09:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I had a wonderful time and I'm glad I got to meet all of you. And I'm glad you like the All-American Rejects, Jel! My work here is done!

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 21 December 2003 15:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I walked to the Horse and Groom at 6:15, paused and moved on. I had shopping to do and the missus was still in work. I feared Mentalist Cacophony but it doesn't sound like it was that sort of thing at all. Still, I wasn't in the mood.

Humbug.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Sunday, 21 December 2003 16:02 (twenty-one years ago)

It was a good night and no mistake. Even if I did spend at least half of it talking about The Wedding Present.

Ricardo (RickyT), Monday, 22 December 2003 10:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh Jonesy, that was about the time we were discussing our favourite Wimbledon winners.

chris (chris), Monday, 22 December 2003 10:25 (twenty-one years ago)

i would rather i hadn't jumped from untalkative curmudgeon to boorish nob quite so quickly - the middle bit in between is so much more preferable to either

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Monday, 22 December 2003 10:39 (twenty-one years ago)

boorish curmudgeon?

stevem (blueski), Monday, 22 December 2003 11:10 (twenty-one years ago)

hello?

chris (chris), Monday, 22 December 2003 11:24 (twenty-one years ago)

stevem (blueski), Monday, 22 December 2003 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Tim (Tim), Monday, 22 December 2003 12:07 (twenty-one years ago)

That big bastard in the middle is for fixing your skull to the chair so you don't squirm about as Dento looms.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Monday, 22 December 2003 12:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I have just been to the dentist to get my fillings done. Last night we watched the AFI Movie Heroes and Villains things and the ever-so-caring mr ailsa and mummy and daddy ailsa all pissed themselves laughing at the excerpts from Marathon Man whilst I just went "eek" a lot and hid behind cushions.

Chris, I feel your pain (well, I don't, due to industrial-size needles pouring gallons of anasthaetic into my gums, but you know what I mean).

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 22 December 2003 12:25 (twenty-one years ago)

two weeks pass...
"So here he is, Andrew Farrell, and he's going to buy a round"

See now, I heard this as "...everybody's having fun", which was why I was happy.

Thanks go to Pete "Two Couches" Baran for putting me up on short notice when he already had John whose surname I always forget staying with him.

I've been wondering whether I should just give up on this and actually say "I'll be over for this FAP" beforehand. On the one hand I do enjoy whatever suprise it still generates. Also, considering that I book stuff enough in advance that I get the dirt-cheap fares, there's always a chance that I won't be able to go after all, like the Club Freaky Trigger the week before.

On the other hand, there probably isn't much novelty value left, and it does lead to awkward scenes like "Okay, who's got a couch?"

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 5 January 2004 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Andrew, I pretty much always have a couch, but I am a fair way out.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 5 January 2004 18:18 (twenty-one years ago)

sometimes you have the couch and sometimes the couch has you

stevem (blueski), Monday, 5 January 2004 18:19 (twenty-one years ago)
