Mitch is in London on the Monday and we're going to give him a rip-roaring British welcome by way of a FAP. Watch this thread for details.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 12 December 2003 12:25 (twenty-two years ago)

That's the final piece in my ruinous next-week jigsaw sorted then.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 12 December 2003 12:27 (twenty-two years ago)

As is always the case with visiting Americans I suggest a Sam Smiths pub. The Champion anyone?

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 12 December 2003 12:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Won't it be full of christmas shoppers in need of a booze intake, being so close to oxford st?

Vicky (Vicky), Friday, 12 December 2003 12:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmm yes good point, best get there early then.

(Or choose somewhere a tiny bit more out of the way like the GLASSHOUSE STORES)

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 12 December 2003 12:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Hurrah for b33r! Unless it means you have to take a day's holiday from work on account of the induced ruin, that is.

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 12 December 2003 12:36 (twenty-two years ago)

my Mitchfap brings all the boys to the yard

Glasshouse has annoyed me lately because their downstairs seems to be always either closed or hired out...probably safe for Monday eve tho

stevem (blueski), Friday, 12 December 2003 12:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Also of course the place is so evocative of ILX history - it's like the Stratford on Avon for US ILXors or something! (Yeah right.)

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 12 December 2003 12:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh dear lord... My Temp Agency office party is on that night, and I was looking for an excuse to avoid it. I tried to schedule drinks with a friend, but she cancelled on me, the bee-yatch, so hooray for Mitch providing a new excuse!

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Friday, 12 December 2003 12:59 (twenty-two years ago)

i might come along-- similar to matt DC that will mean a full 7 nights of holiday cheer.

and things like 'doing laundry' and 'pack for trip home' seem really insignificant when considering the 'reason for the season'

(now i'm gagging on my on insincerity)

plus, could be fun!

colette (a2lette), Friday, 12 December 2003 13:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I may not be able to make this :(

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 12 December 2003 15:22 (twenty-two years ago)

no sinker OR tracer?? bloody hell

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Friday, 12 December 2003 17:07 (twenty-two years ago)

We shall see...

Barima (Barima), Friday, 12 December 2003 18:07 (twenty-two years ago)

arrrgghh...I leave for London on the 15th. I wish I could make it...but is there one later in the week? I'll be around till the next monday.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 12 December 2003 19:06 (twenty-two years ago)

There's another on the 19th, Anthony! I shall be at both, I'm pretty sure.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 12 December 2003 19:33 (twenty-two years ago)

hey I brought it up on that other thread, but is there a thread for the one on the 19th? I can't find it!

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 12 December 2003 22:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Christmas Time (Don't Let The Beers End)

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 12 December 2003 22:48 (twenty-two years ago)

thanks!

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 12 December 2003 23:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmm... maybe. We are getting broadband at home earlier in the day, tho.

I don't actually think I've ever been to the Glasshouse, oddly enough.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Saturday, 13 December 2003 21:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll see how I feel after work, I'll have just come off a 12 hour shift, so I'll probably want a beer.

Ed (dali), Sunday, 14 December 2003 09:10 (twenty-two years ago)

i'll be xmas shopping in town all afternoon => this is ideal.

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 14 December 2003 23:39 (twenty-two years ago)

William you can surely stop your frenzy of dog porn downloads for the 3 hours neccessary to come and welcome Mitch!!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 15 December 2003 08:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I can do this after all, yay!!

Is this at the Glasshouse Stores then or can we quiz it up at the Swimmer??

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 15 December 2003 09:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Swimmer is too far North I'd guess (it is for me anyway) - though where is Mitch staying?

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 15 December 2003 09:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I think this has to be the Glasshouse Stores. North London, whilst handy for me, is no good to most ILxors, and Toby is Christmas shopping. This is ideal!

I'll be there about seven for a couple. Honest.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 15 December 2003 10:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll be there a bit earlier than 7 probably, but I must must must leave at a sensible hour or disaster will ensue.

Tim (Tim), Monday, 15 December 2003 10:25 (twenty-two years ago)

blimX0r, i haven't been to the GHS in aaaages, seems rude not to pop in for one or two, although i mustn't stay all night as i'm a little rough around the edges (sore throat etc) at the mo

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 15 December 2003 10:26 (twenty-two years ago)

What Tim said. I am already well ahead in the beers drunk to days of week passed ratio.

Ricardo (RickyT), Monday, 15 December 2003 10:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll be there about 6 - 6.30, but too am only stopping for a couple - no nights in this week :0(

Vicky (Vicky), Monday, 15 December 2003 10:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I'm going to be dabbling in the dark art of going home first, for a variety of reason. Should be there about 8.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 15 December 2003 10:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Going home first? That's unheard of!

Tim (Tim), Monday, 15 December 2003 10:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I am feeling vomitus today - I will see how I feel regarding whether I make this or not :(

Sarah (starry), Monday, 15 December 2003 10:31 (twenty-two years ago)

(Also the fact that if I come straight from work, I will be in the GHS at 5.31pm and that would be silly).

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 15 December 2003 10:33 (twenty-two years ago)

eek, I thought it was the only qni before xmas tonight!

ok then, just a couple mind.

chris (chris), Monday, 15 December 2003 10:34 (twenty-two years ago)

(There's always eating before you booze, Matt, but OBV that would be MADNESS and CHEATING).

Tim (Tim), Monday, 15 December 2003 10:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Will be there if my friend doesn't want to play Medal of Honour: Kill some Japs this evening.

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 15 December 2003 10:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Matt matt matt, 5.31 is about 10 minutes after i'll get there ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 15 December 2003 10:41 (twenty-two years ago)

ooh bollards i forgot about this, but i think i can still make it

matt dc do you have my DVDS?!?!?!?!?!

stevem (blueski), Monday, 15 December 2003 10:51 (twenty-two years ago)

i will hopefully be in for a couple early doors, then off home as i have woken up with horrible blocked sinuses etc etc and suede's dog man star gig is on radio 6 tonight

toby (tsg20), Monday, 15 December 2003 10:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Not sure if I can make it, mainly because if I drink much more my kidneys are going to pack in. I have over done everything in the last few days.

Anna (Anna), Monday, 15 December 2003 13:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Anna, come to the pub but don't drink (much)!

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 15 December 2003 13:14 (twenty-two years ago)

can anyone do the FAP link for mitch?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 15 December 2003 13:19 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.fancyapint.com/thepubs/pub231.htm

cis (cis), Monday, 15 December 2003 13:31 (twenty-two years ago)

it is worth checking to see if the downstairs will be open i think

stevem (blueski), Monday, 15 December 2003 13:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Downstairs is always open on a Monday.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 15 December 2003 13:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually, that's bollocks.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 15 December 2003 13:40 (twenty-two years ago)

i just rang them and asked if the downstairs would be open and the lady said 'no there's a private function on down there tonight' - this means seating space will be very limited, maybe not even room via the main entrance/stairs

stevem (blueski), Monday, 15 December 2003 13:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll be there circa 6, I think. I want to get my Secret Santa gift first, as that has to be bought this week.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 15 December 2003 13:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, you made that up. It is quite possible that downstairs will be booked. But I don't think today will be too hideous, everyone (even the non-pubgoing pubgoers who are out in force this month) will be gearing up for Christmas parties.
(X-Post obv).
Your point Steve, it is not going to be a huge FAP, and the bar billards table is upstairs.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 15 December 2003 13:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Why don't we just congregate round the bar billiards table and intimidate the snogging couple and Japanese tourist into GETTING THE FUCK OUT for Mitch?

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 15 December 2003 13:44 (twenty-two years ago)

barry I'm sure you can handle them on yr own.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 15 December 2003 13:45 (twenty-two years ago)

as long as enough people get there early enough to acquire some space/seating. otherwise i strongly recommend another venue.

stevem (blueski), Monday, 15 December 2003 13:47 (twenty-two years ago)

And here was I all thinking that I would give this one a miss, but the prospect of Barry taking on snogging Japanese couples in a poolhall blitz, well, that's too much to resist! Should I go there embarrassingly early, or should I stop home and collect HSA first?

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Monday, 15 December 2003 13:47 (twenty-two years ago)

is this going to be a quick 'lets all have a pint or two' thing? or something longer than that?

want to meet up with my boy for a bit tonight, and don't know if we should go to dinner and then i come along to the FAP, or FAP and then meet him for a movie, or what.

indecisive today.

colette (a2lette), Monday, 15 December 2003 13:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm getting their later. I think it might be more of a lasseiz-faire swinging door type affair with people coming and going all night.

We could have a back-up venue (ie The John Snow) in case the GHS is completely unworkable.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 15 December 2003 14:01 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah the area around the BB table is usually quite easy to commandeer, and GHS *tends* to have a lot of punters who come in for one and then go away, so table grabbing is usually possible...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 15 December 2003 14:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Good idea Pete - if you arrive at the GHS later than say 6.30 and there's no ILXors there, go to the John Snow instead. (This does not work if you are Mitch and know no ILXors, of course, but in that case he gets to make some grebt new friends by asking random people if they are.)

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 15 December 2003 14:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Is the John Snow the one with the CHOLERA PUMP HANDLE!?!??! I want to go there!

(There is also a yummy veggie food place around the corner.)

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Monday, 15 December 2003 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.fancyapint.com/thepubs/pub216.htm

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 15 December 2003 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Ack, stupid work filter. :-(

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Monday, 15 December 2003 14:09 (twenty-two years ago)

39 Broadwick Street
W1F 9QJ

Victorian pub in the heart of Soho, standard Sam Smith's fayre - which is OK if you like Sam Smith's. The food is average cheap pub grub. Pretty unremarkable all in all. If it's crowded downstairs try the upstairs bar. Usually crowded with media types.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 15 December 2003 14:13 (twenty-two years ago)

what if John Snow is just as bad? Duke Of Argyll as third bet? ;)

stevem (blueski), Monday, 15 December 2003 14:16 (twenty-two years ago)

stop it.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 15 December 2003 14:16 (twenty-two years ago)

it's soho in mid-december, we'll have to make do with what we can. endlessly seeking an emptier pub is THE ERRAND OF A FULE.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 15 December 2003 14:17 (twenty-two years ago)

BUT WHAT IF WE ALL GET CHOLERA?!?!?

Oh wait, brewers and other people who drank beer DIDN'T GET THE CHOLERA!!! Phew, we're safe.

(Actually, we found an empty pub in Soho yesterday. The Dog and Duck.)

(I had to type that three times because my fingers kept trying to type The Dog and Fuck.)

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Monday, 15 December 2003 14:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Stop fannying around people, especially as this is likely to be confusing to Mitch. The GHS will be fine. There will be enough of us to indimiate anyone out of their seats while we slowly take over a corner of the pub. And it has bar billiards.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 15 December 2003 14:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Bravo Matt DC, well said. A place on the steering committee for this fine young gentleman.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 15 December 2003 14:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Feeling way too rough today to do this. Broadband hasn't bloody come either. Grr.

Still on for the Friday one, tho.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Monday, 15 December 2003 14:54 (twenty-two years ago)

A place on the steering committee for this fine young gentleman

b-but i was the one who phoned ahead!

stevem (blueski), Monday, 15 December 2003 14:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Stevem you are banned forever from the steering committee for that alone!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 15 December 2003 14:57 (twenty-two years ago)

The steering committee plays it by ear. Planning = organized fun = dud.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 15 December 2003 14:58 (twenty-two years ago)

oh yeah? well maybe i will form my OWN steering committee. yeah, real superior like. i'll show you all how to steer. and commit.

stevem (blueski), Monday, 15 December 2003 15:00 (twenty-two years ago)

phoning ahead to check about downstairs is the greatest idea ever and you are all just jealous gayes cos you didnt think of it

stevem (blueski), Monday, 15 December 2003 15:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I now envisage Steve sitting belligerently in a dark and dusty pub, on his own, muttering "it's their loss!" while weeping into his Ayingerbrau.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 15 December 2003 15:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Stevem teach y'all stunt.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Monday, 15 December 2003 15:06 (twenty-two years ago)

HEIN?

Tim (Tim), Monday, 15 December 2003 15:08 (twenty-two years ago)

So. Someone make up my mind for me. Should I just go down after work (possibly without HSA) or should I go home first, and get sucked into making dinner and come along until later, when you'll probably all have gone home?

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Monday, 15 December 2003 16:43 (twenty-two years ago)

BOTH!!!

Pete (Pete), Monday, 15 December 2003 16:44 (twenty-two years ago)

What, come down early and have a pint, then go home and make dinner (very drunkenly) and come back? Not gonna happen. Couch too tempting.

Hrmmmm, maybe I should just tell HSA I'm "working late" cause when I actually *was* working late last week, he kept demanding "so what's his name, then?"

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Monday, 15 December 2003 16:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Kate come early. It's the only sane route.

Tim (Tim), Monday, 15 December 2003 16:47 (twenty-two years ago)

No, split into two indistinguishable people somehow (you could use the Gwyneth 'Sliding Doors' method of catching and not catching atube train to effect this magic realist trope) and then proceed the rest of your life somewhat out of step with yourself.

Actually, this isn't such a good idea. Forget I suggested it.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 15 December 2003 16:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Call HSA & meet him there!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 15 December 2003 16:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Good idea, Pink! Shall do.

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Monday, 15 December 2003 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Send SteveM over in a pair of glasses and a dress and hope he doesn't notice the difference.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 15 December 2003 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

And a wig.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 15 December 2003 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, but can Stevem cook? If suddenly amazing confections start appearing in place of Thing, HSA might get suspicious!

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Monday, 15 December 2003 17:02 (twenty-two years ago)

mmm, thing...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 15 December 2003 17:03 (twenty-two years ago)

The real flaw in this plan is if he gets frisky, surely?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 15 December 2003 17:03 (twenty-two years ago)

when come back, bring thing pie

chris (chris), Monday, 15 December 2003 17:04 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, I've just talked to HSA, and he is going to go to the post office and then meet us over there. I'm leaving nowish, so I should be there in about half five or so? If HSA isn't there, can someone buy me a beer? ;-)

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Monday, 15 December 2003 17:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I've realised what with everyone possibly leaving early then arriving late is arse-backwards, so I'm going wobs shopping first and turning up from about 6.30ish.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 15 December 2003 17:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Also the Bavarian thread has done me in. I need a sup of that jolly Teutonic nectar.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 15 December 2003 17:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh great. If I'm by myself, I'm going to be pissed at you! (American sense.) And not unfortunately not pissed. (British sense).

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Monday, 15 December 2003 17:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Not everyone plans to leave early.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 15 December 2003 17:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Well my plan to see Mystic River (the film i am never going to see) has gone tits up AGAIN so I'll probably be there sixish.

Might leave early for late showing...

Pete (Pete), Monday, 15 December 2003 17:09 (twenty-two years ago)

hmm. looks like i figured wrong. planned to meet boy for dinner and then come down there later, but sounds like people will be gone. true/false? any ideas on how late you're staying?

colette (a2lette), Monday, 15 December 2003 17:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I have only once been to a FAP at which everyone had gone by 9.30 - my hunch is you'll be safe Colette.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 15 December 2003 17:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, go with the Hunchback of Nother FAP when it comes to sussing out the scene.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 15 December 2003 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

most confusing FAP ever?

(see you in the John Snow in 90 mins or so...)

stevem (blueski), Monday, 15 December 2003 17:41 (twenty-two years ago)

The John Snow? wtf? Seriously, it's the Glasshouse Stores, isn't it?

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 15 December 2003 17:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, Stevem's just amply demonstrating why he's not fit to commit. See you at the GHS in a bit.

Tim (Tim), Monday, 15 December 2003 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)

fit to be committed, more like.

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 15 December 2003 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)

how about just fit, hey ladies etc.

stevem (blueski), Monday, 15 December 2003 17:52 (twenty-two years ago)

If I snog you, will you shut up?

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 15 December 2003 17:54 (twenty-two years ago)

thank you, i've dropped enough hints!

(er, no)

stevem (blueski), Monday, 15 December 2003 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

y'all better still be there around 8:30 or I'll kill you with guns

Ed (dali), Monday, 15 December 2003 18:35 (twenty-two years ago)

It was a top FAP, except it was somewhat deficient in Mitchs. What happened?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 00:18 (twenty-two years ago)

so where did it take place?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 08:28 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, it was cool. i'm glad i left when i did because i slept right through to 8 and would have slept for longer if i didn't have to teach. bloody cold.

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 08:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry :( I felt too vomitous to go out so instead had a night out down Safeways and ate a mini party egg. I nearly threw up when faced with slices of pork with EG in it though.

YES YES "deficient in Mitch" though? Did he turn up?

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 09:48 (twenty-two years ago)

it took place in the GHS of course, but there was no mitch. perhaps he was scared off by the confusion of other venues being mooted

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 10:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Mitch was a laugh riot. I don't think we've had that much fun out of a new FAPper evah! "Its Mitch!"

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 10:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Sarah you would have loved it, there was an entirely separate GOTH INTERWEB MENTALIST FAP going on downstairs.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 10:17 (twenty-two years ago)

obviously i need to work on my translation skills...goths? i thought it was essex girls downstairs. do goths wear white pleather boots?

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 10:24 (twenty-two years ago)

(Disclaimer - may have actually been neither goffs nor interweb mentalists)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 10:27 (twenty-two years ago)

i think it was these people:

http://www.catmachine.com/iafs/bio.php

makes sense, to be fair.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 10:44 (twenty-two years ago)

How confusing! But Mitch will be pleased to know I enjoyed my party eg just as much as your pints. Probably.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 10:48 (twenty-two years ago)

i really didn't enjoy my pint.

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 10:52 (twenty-two years ago)

i just realised that mitch might have actually been there, but was scared away by kate and me yelling 'mitch!?' at everyone that walked past. if i were in his shoes, i might hang out with essex girls as well!

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 10:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm sorry Steve.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 11:01 (twenty-two years ago)

that's okay, it's not your fault

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 11:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Collete: As long as one set of cards is called Take A Chance On Me I think you'll be on a winner:
http://www.huckleberrywillow.co.uk/huckle/Files/60816

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 11:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Good FAP I thought.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 11:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Abba Monopoly is a good idea. 'You are the Dancing Queen, collect £50' etc.

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 11:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Money money money!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 11:21 (twenty-two years ago)

according to another website discussing this, i could make the 'community chest' square say 'take a chance' or something like that.

don't forget kate's point. if i make it, i'll probably have to play it.

maybe i can bring it to a FAP and we can ALL play it. doesn't that sound great?

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 11:26 (twenty-two years ago)

half the 'take a chance' cards will just say VOTE DEAN! ;)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 11:27 (twenty-two years ago)

haha ok bcz I went to GHS but I didn't see anybody so I walked to the other pub and nobody was there either so I thought somebody changed plans so I went home.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 11:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Mitch = Julio!!!

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 11:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I've yet to listen to the dizzee rascal alb btu I have got round to listening to the streets. maybe in 2010.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 11:30 (twenty-two years ago)

the make your own monopoly costs like $30! what a rip off. i'm so going to buy a regular monopoly at meijer and use crayons...and glitter.

what's the point of making something handmade if you use computers and it looks all professional?!

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 11:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Most valuable square on the board = WATERLOO.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 11:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Incidentally, if Anthony stands us up on Friday I think I might cry.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 11:36 (twenty-two years ago)

poor Julio, what time did you get to the GHS? we were all round by the bar billiards table

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 11:36 (twenty-two years ago)

waterloo beats 'the winner takes it all'!?

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 11:39 (twenty-two years ago)

steve- about 7:30 pm.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 11:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Colette - haha, point conceded. Are you actually making this?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 11:42 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm becoming increasingly convinced. the reason for this is:

i'm deliriously tired (also explains the especially bad spelling today)

i'm likely to be bored out of my skull at home for more than a week. glitter and glue could fill an evening nicely.

i really can't think of what else to get him. this way, it'll at least have the 'creative and homemade and so from the heart' element going for it.

but we'll see.

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 11:44 (twenty-two years ago)

There were at least 8 or 10 people there by 7.30, Julio - all round by the bar billiards. We may have even started playing by then.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 14:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Is there still going to be a FAP on Fri 19th?

the fapfox, Tuesday, 16 December 2003 14:22 (twenty-two years ago)

So what have you lot done with Kate huh?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 14:23 (twenty-two years ago)

we threw her in the brig ma'am

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 14:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes there is PF. This was a special hidden bonus track type of FAP.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 14:32 (twenty-two years ago)

*gasps*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

if you play it backwards it says 'Twweeellve fut leeeezaaahhrds'

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 14:44 (twenty-two years ago)

''There were at least 8 or 10 people there by 7.30, Julio - all round by the bar billiards. We may have even started playing by then.''

don't know how but I missed you all. wasn't there some xmas party going on downstairs?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 15:43 (twenty-two years ago)

and an iron curtain of sozzled suits upstairs, between the door and the billiards room

it was worth it though for mitch, that rascal! i'd have won my second game against Hopkin Stim if mitch hadn't kept gleefully jostling my elbow right when i was about to shoot. i know you all saw it.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:30 (twenty-two years ago)

good god.

in my semi-conscious jet-laggery, i thort this was all about JANUARY the 15th!! i WAS in london last night, but i was up this morning at 5am to be at heathrow to be in nyc which is where i am now!! apologies and confusion all round!!! have i blown my chances at this now? i'll be back in london from JANUARY the 11th to the 20th! i can't believe this. i only got to check this thread at 11pm last night. after a bit of tracer hand elbow jostling, that is.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 22:22 (twenty-two years ago)

i feel something of the fool.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 22:23 (twenty-two years ago)

i am perversely pleased that random londoners were subjected to tests of mitchness though.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 22:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I forgive you Mitch, on behalf of ...well, just me, actually, since I can hardly say anything on anyone else's behalf. Yes, we can re-FAP in January.

Also, I knew none were you, because I remember your picture very clearly. You looked like Mark Bosnich. (that's a good thing)

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 22:26 (twenty-two years ago)

(btw when i'm back in town i'll be staying in bayswater)
(i still feel so silly that i can't post again without parentheses)

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 22:30 (twenty-two years ago)

January 15th you say, that just so happens to be the next Non/Sense at the foundry, come one come all, mills and boon for everyone.

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 22:31 (twenty-two years ago)

''You looked like Mark Bosnich. (that's a good thing)''

it is?! ;)

will be around on friday? cause there is a christmas fap thing going on, i think.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 22:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry I missed all this: sounds like a killer time was had;>

(Before I forget: Starry: sent package. Check work email for details!)

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 22:36 (twenty-two years ago)

(feel. so. silly.)
(disconnecting. now.)

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 22:37 (twenty-two years ago)

guess that means no.

we'll see you in january.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 22:40 (twenty-two years ago)

(are you mad at me? i think you're mad at me. you say you're not mad at me, but you're mad at me. i cant tell.)

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 22:42 (twenty-two years ago)

we have at least 2 faps a month so no.

but don't do it again.

'';-)''

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 22:45 (twenty-two years ago)

we're not mad, we got some pretty good drinking done without you.

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 22:45 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm not mad it means i get to meet you

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 23:22 (twenty-two years ago)

for goodness sake

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 23:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Heh heh. I rather overdid, obviously, due to my absence from work yesterday. I HONESTLY thought we were only going to be there for two pints! So I didn't bother having dinner. (Despite HSA ordering himself dinner and buying chips for everyone.) And everyone kept offering me booze, and next thing I knew, I'd been drinking solid from 5.30pm through to 11, and could barely walk home.

Good FAP, though. Was most excellent fun. Yelling "Mitch!" Norm-style at all the gothic Essex girls going downstairs was good fun.

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 09:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Mitch, I am not mad at you. It was an excellent FAP, even without yr esteemed presence.

Ricardo (RickyT), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 10:11 (twenty-two years ago)

mitch, i'm certainly not mad at you. there's still ILX people that i haven't matched names to faces, so for all i know, you were actually there.

plus, it was fun to go out since i have to miss the christmas party on friday :(

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 10:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Aw Colette - can you not even pop in for a swifty?

Mitch, we're not cross with you at all! It gave us the excuse for a FAP, so you can think yourself personally responsible for more than a dozen metroasexuals having a blast :)

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 10:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Metroasexuals - neologism of the year!

Ricardo (RickyT), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 10:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Julio we are averaging about two FAPS a WEEK at the moment.

But yes, bravo Mitch for giving us an excuse for a very enjoyable night in the pub with some nice people. See you in January.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 10:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Idiot Mitch!!

(nb not mad)

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 10:41 (twenty-two years ago)

heh. yeah I guess its just me turning up twice a month then.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 10:54 (twenty-two years ago)

nope, friday evening i'll already be in chicago, waiting for a connection to detroit...

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 12:11 (twenty-two years ago)

When and where is Fri FAP?

the fapfox, Wednesday, 17 December 2003 14:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Horse And Groom, on Great Portland Street. Ptee claims he'll be there from four onwards, everyone else post-work as per usual.

Ricardo (RickyT), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 14:44 (twenty-two years ago)

God, considering my reaction to the last one (wheee, I so drunk! one minute wheee, the bed is spinning, I feel sick!) the next, I wonder if I should go to this after all.

I really hope the H&G is a nice pub, or I'll feel stupid for suggesting it. Maybe I'll win something on the pub quiz. And maybe pigs will fly out of my ass.

If anyone sees me at this FAP, hold a gun to my head and FORCE me to eat some dinner before I start drinking. Please?

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 14:46 (twenty-two years ago)

It is a nice pub. We've FAPped there before a couple of times.

Ricardo (RickyT), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 14:47 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, good. But I'm serious about the eating dinner thing. Please! Even though it's a Saturday the next day, I have to get in a car and drive down to Wiltshire.

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 14:48 (twenty-two years ago)

(Oh I thought I suggested it never mind blame Kate eh *rubs hands together and cackles*)

Lovely Bitter.

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 14:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, maybe you did, Starry. I just remember saying something about "ooh, there's a pretty pub on Great Portland St, let's go there!" but it would make sense since you work there, but if it's blame, heh, I'll take it.

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 14:49 (twenty-two years ago)

It is a very nice pub - typical FAP venue, really.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 14:57 (twenty-two years ago)

why does tico appear to believe that mitch is an american on this thread?

charltonlido (gareth), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 15:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll be there at half four/five

chris (chris), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 16:07 (twenty-two years ago)

after the exquisite delights of Belgo's today, no pub is ever gonna have the same appeal

i'm gonna try and get there early tho - need a bar billiards rematch with Pete (is this the pub with the bb?)

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 16:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Cos I forgot he wasn't one Charlton!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I just hope Pete doesn't try to take up smoking.

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Bring cigars forthwith, the challenge has been laid down.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 18 December 2003 12:21 (twenty-two years ago)

two weeks pass...
so should we be planning mitchFAP2 for the 15th?

colette (a2lette), Monday, 5 January 2004 14:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I suppose so, but can we have a confirmation from him that he is coming first...

Pete (Pete), Monday, 5 January 2004 14:46 (twenty-two years ago)

gosh, pete, what do you want? the world on a plate? abbaopoly?

(just kidding. forgive me because i think things like this are funny today. confirmation kinda makes sense)

colette (a2lette), Monday, 5 January 2004 14:50 (twenty-two years ago)

World on a plate would be nice, but I'm actually after the moon on a stick.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 5 January 2004 14:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Pete, are you thinking of joining the Ringing Ahead Tendency or something?

Ricardo (RickyT), Monday, 5 January 2004 14:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Good point.

15th it is. White Horse, Rupert Street?

Pete (Pete), Monday, 5 January 2004 14:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I think this is the only pub in Soho I've never been into. We should go.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 5 January 2004 15:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha - on the other hand, the 15th is a THURSDAY. And we all know what that means, don't we boys and girls?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 5 January 2004 15:01 (twenty-two years ago)

What a good idea. With a stop via Cheapo Cheapo's beforehand for me.

Sarah (starry), Monday, 5 January 2004 15:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Atually, spot on. Scrub that, The Pint Pot it is. Cheapo Cheapo's will have to wait sorry.

I think I'm losing it. Thank Christ for the new steering committee member.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 5 January 2004 15:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I've already suffered the Pint Pot this year. Count me out.

Sarah (starry), Monday, 5 January 2004 15:04 (twenty-two years ago)

me too.

chris (chris), Monday, 5 January 2004 15:06 (twenty-two years ago)

ray! karaoke! hopefully it will SNOW LOTS like last year :)

(might we want to change the thread title, or is that not do-able at the moment?)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 5 January 2004 15:12 (twenty-two years ago)

it had better bloody not. grrrr

please - no karaoke for crying out loud

chris (chris), Monday, 5 January 2004 15:13 (twenty-two years ago)

IMPORTANT THING - Mitch is in London from the 11th to the 20th - is this the best date for him?

This also means we can take him to the footie.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 5 January 2004 15:14 (twenty-two years ago)

ooh! karaoke!

(althoug maybe karaoke should actually be a different night, so that we don't scare people away from visiting mitch just because they hate karaoke?)

oh. i'm an idiot. i can't actually do the 15th. it's my boy's birthday. so hopefully mitch will say that like the 12th or 13th is better for him (14th is the mamma mia field trip)

colette (a2lette), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

To have one mitchfap without mitch, Mr. DC, may be regarded as a misfortune; to have two looks like carelessness...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm really happy colette revived this, cos i would've been too embarassed to do so. btw, there are people in new york that can confirm that i exist and *do* show up for these things, for ptee's sake. the 15th is fine, but so's any night from the 11th to the 20th, really. so if you wanna reschedule, by all means.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

i fear 'taking him to the footie' is a euphemism for kicking me 'ead in or something.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:29 (twenty-two years ago)

If you *must* Pint Pot then I suggest a different boozer before the karaoke sets up so the New Year of New Haters get a chance to meet Mitch somewhere where they stand a chance of being in a halfway decent environment and mood!

(Although I am always a grump oo er sorry Mitch)

Sarah (starry), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:31 (twenty-two years ago)

One Tun?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:37 (twenty-two years ago)

can we make this the 12th or 13th instead? if anyone else has things that conflict with them, i'll just miss it, but i'd like to go if possible...

colette (a2lette), Monday, 5 January 2004 16:42 (twenty-two years ago)

well we could always [gasp] go out twice in one week...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 5 January 2004 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

only twice? pffft, amateurs

stevem (blueski), Monday, 5 January 2004 17:01 (twenty-two years ago)

i miss london

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 5 January 2004 17:02 (twenty-two years ago)

ok, if it's a two-pronged mitch fap, i vote for the 12th. or even the 11th is ok, actually.

but if you guys karaoke on the 15th i'll be SOOOOOOOOOOOO jealous!

colette (a2lette), Monday, 5 January 2004 17:09 (twenty-two years ago)

heh, you say that NOW...

stevem (blueski), Monday, 5 January 2004 17:26 (twenty-two years ago)

the 11th is no good for me, and I'd like to meet mitch.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 5 January 2004 17:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Monday 12th - White Horse

Thursday 15th - One Tun/Pint Pot

stevem (blueski), Monday, 5 January 2004 17:39 (twenty-two years ago)

tempted as ever to throw in Rising Sun in place of One Tun tho - esp. as it's almost opposite the Pint Pot, and the idea of there being two FAPs taking place across the road from each other amuses me - esp. if people keep switching over back and forth.

stevem (blueski), Monday, 5 January 2004 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I was going to propose a fap this thursday, 8th jan, King And Queen corner of foley st and cleevland st, anyone up for it?

Ed (dali), Monday, 5 January 2004 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Depends how fit I feel. Getting back to work today has left me tired. I expect I'll have adjusted by Thursday. I don't know where either street is, and my eyes have been so bad lately that my A-Z is very hard work. Any chance of more info?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 5 January 2004 20:00 (twenty-two years ago)

i am going to see JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE on thursday so cannot, i'm afraid.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 5 January 2004 20:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Luck-y!

cis (cis), Monday, 5 January 2004 20:08 (twenty-two years ago)

ok, i'll be there on the 12th. who else is coming?

(and does this mean that the 15th is the annual karaoke, not to be repeated until 2005, or can it happen in feb or march again?)

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 11:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Coo Steve good jums!

I am really, really really bloody broke but will pop in. (LUDICROUSLY broke).

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 11:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Monday 12th, White Horse Rupert Street IT IS.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 11:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Why couldn't we do the karaoke then do the football on the Saturday and then beer it up after that?

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 12:10 (twenty-two years ago)

well, i'm not convinced by the football just yet, and i certainly can't go out after, since i have boy birthday. which i'm sure people are welcome to come to. just not everyone in the world. but i'm sure people he's met would be invited...

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 12:19 (twenty-two years ago)

so let me get this straight, next week's timetable is as follows:

Monday 12, White Horse, Rupert St
Thursday 15, Pint Pot, Tottenham Court Rd
Saturday 17, Football at AFCW

marvellous

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 12:27 (twenty-two years ago)

How old is this boy. With his loving of Monopoly and your name for him I am increasingly convinced that he is twelve. Or is he becoming street legal next week?

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 12:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Pete no 12-year olds love Monopoly you mentalist. You'll be claiming they all watch Blue Peter of their own accord next.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 12:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Pete, if he's twelve then he'll be in the guinness book of records by the time he's 14. Unless Colette has traded him in for a new model since the Generation D!E!A!N! party :)

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 12:33 (twenty-two years ago)

although i have been known to go for the younger guys in recent years, 14 is a bit extreme. he's turning 30 on thursday and having a big party on saturday.

but yeah, he does sometimes act like he's 14. which is a good thing :)

(and calling him boy is a remainder from ATP last year, just a habit)

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 12:37 (twenty-two years ago)

don't forget, non/sense jan 15th, at the foundry, me djing plus live music. It's no kareoke, thank providence.

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 12:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm going to wuss out of Thursday I think due to lack of money, and also because I'm cutting out weekday bouzing for the rest of January to try and restore order to the fucking sleep-deprived mess that has been my life recently. I'll make an exception for MitchFAP on Monday, mind.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 12:52 (twenty-two years ago)

er, lots of us seemed to forget :(

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 12:53 (twenty-two years ago)

you are all swines, we shall have to have more fun than you to spite you all

< / flounces off>

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 12:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I think we might save the 15th for another week (when it is snowier) - but we'll see.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 13:09 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah. you should all go see ed.

(trying to make up for accidentally stolen credit for key lime pie)

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 13:21 (twenty-two years ago)

will there be pie at Non/Sense?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 13:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Only disco biscuits I fear.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 13:58 (twenty-two years ago)

wait. i thought pies were the selling point of the football, not the karaoke?!

(and since i'm assuming, sadly, that these aren't coconut cream or chocolate silk pies you're talking about, it still doesn't sell me on the idea of skipping my boyfriend's birthday for it)

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 8 January 2004 10:41 (twenty-two years ago)

French silk pie!

ANNOUNCEMENT:

My Minneapolis peeps Chris and Matt are turning up in Londres early and will also be in the pub, if they are not too sick from their travels.

suzy (suzy), Thursday, 8 January 2004 10:53 (twenty-two years ago)

at which one, suzy? the FAP on monday or the karaoke on thursday?

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 8 January 2004 11:02 (twenty-two years ago)

or are they coming to the football?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 8 January 2004 15:05 (twenty-two years ago)

and just to make sure, is mitch planning on attending any/all of the 3 events planned (sort of) in his honor?

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 8 January 2004 15:07 (twenty-two years ago)

oh, why not

(ie. i'll try and make 2 or more)

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Thursday, 8 January 2004 15:32 (twenty-two years ago)

HURRAY!!

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 8 January 2004 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm guessing the football will be sacrificed

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 8 January 2004 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Bump in the hope of hearing from Mitch, and of finding out who is going to the Monday one. White Horse on Rupert St, yes?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 11 January 2004 19:33 (twenty-two years ago)

i should be there, i'm going skating after work though and if it's pissing down with rain & i get soaked i might slope off home afterwards.

toby (tsg20), Monday, 12 January 2004 07:43 (twenty-two years ago)

nope, sorry, back off the booze again and not in particularly good socialising mood.

chris (chris), Monday, 12 January 2004 09:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Come on gap tooth gypsy Chris. I'll be there depending on whether I have handed my essay in.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 12 January 2004 10:17 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm planning on being there. woo!

colette (a2lette), Monday, 12 January 2004 10:19 (twenty-two years ago)

This is all of five minutes from my workplace so I'll be there early doors, ie before six.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 12 January 2004 10:23 (twenty-two years ago)

ah, so now we know why you were so quick to jump in with a suggested location. pretty evil.

colette (a2lette), Monday, 12 January 2004 11:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll be there at - well, however long it takes me after 5pm to check out new releases and have a browse in Virgin and Fopp. 6ish, I imagine.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 12 January 2004 12:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 12 January 2004 13:16 (twenty-two years ago)

picadilly circus or leicester square? prob picadilly circus i think.

steve are you going to be there? i have your bag...

toby (tsg20), Monday, 12 January 2004 13:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I might be there. Piccadilly Circus is just closer, but Leicester Square is easy too. Won't get there till after 7 if I do come, though. Have fun y'all!

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 12 January 2004 13:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Map here

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Monday, 12 January 2004 13:31 (twenty-two years ago)

i am feeling rather tired, and after swimming and skating i'll probably be more tired, so my drinking time may be limited. we'll see.

toby (tsg20), Monday, 12 January 2004 14:32 (twenty-two years ago)

i will try and make thur 15 tho that is the day my new heating is expensively installed and i may be a heap of penniless misery by day's end

mark s (mark s), Monday, 12 January 2004 14:36 (twenty-two years ago)

yes toby i will come for the bag, then stay for the company (booze)

stevem (blueski), Monday, 12 January 2004 14:39 (twenty-two years ago)

but if you decide you're too tired to go, don't go just for the sake of returning my bag, let me know if you drop out

stevem (blueski), Monday, 12 January 2004 14:40 (twenty-two years ago)

i'll probably be there after 7 as well. that novel american thing about eating 'dinner' at some point in an evening, and all that...

colette (a2lette), Monday, 12 January 2004 14:44 (twenty-two years ago)

sigh. will this day never end?

colette (a2lette), Monday, 12 January 2004 17:05 (twenty-two years ago)

opps, I kinda forgot about this :( and now I am home, so maybe I'll make the 15th...

jel -- (jel), Monday, 12 January 2004 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm at home now after having a rather well-appreciated afternoon off work. Yay for power cuts! This does mean I'll be there a little later than 5.45, mind.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 12 January 2004 17:32 (twenty-two years ago)

its 6:30 now, i can't make it until significantly later! what time do these things go on until? (ps i made a mistake, i arrived on the 12th, not the 11th, so i'm only half alive, but i really want to come)

mitch in london, Monday, 12 January 2004 18:31 (twenty-two years ago)

btw where is rupert st? i cant find that white horse at fancyapint.com.

mitch in london, Monday, 12 January 2004 18:32 (twenty-two years ago)

there are at least six white horses, but which is on rupert?

mitch in panic, Monday, 12 January 2004 18:33 (twenty-two years ago)

'elp!

you know who, Monday, 12 January 2004 18:36 (twenty-two years ago)

i have to have dinner at the people i'm staying at around 8:30, so i can try and arrive now, but not without knowing exactly where i'm going. i'm too tired to make out the swygart map, i think

m., Monday, 12 January 2004 18:39 (twenty-two years ago)

at a net cafe... running out of tiiiimmmmeee....

m., Monday, 12 January 2004 18:39 (twenty-two years ago)

shit. is it worth me showing up any later than 8? 9? hell, is there any pt in coming now, from 7:30 til 8:15 or whatever?

m., Monday, 12 January 2004 18:44 (twenty-two years ago)

i suppose the people that might be answering this are *there* now.

m., Monday, 12 January 2004 18:47 (twenty-two years ago)

fuck me, i just can't get this right, can i. so, the 15th then?

m., Monday, 12 January 2004 18:51 (twenty-two years ago)

FAPS usually go on until about 11ish. Do you have an A-Z map? Rupert Street is a small road in Soho between Brewer Street and Shaftesbury Avenue.

This link might work:

http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?X=529750&Y=180750&scale=5000&coordsys=gb

Rupert Street is just above and below the HA in Shaftesbury.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 12 January 2004 19:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, and I should've said it extends a bit north of Shaftesbury Avenue.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 12 January 2004 19:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I mean it extends north and south of Shaftesbury Avenue (which I guess is another way of saying above and below, if I could I'd delete these last two confusing posts. Sorry)

jel -- (jel), Monday, 12 January 2004 19:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Dude, I think you killed him

chris (chris), Monday, 12 January 2004 20:34 (twenty-two years ago)

thanks jel!! shit, it's 10 now.. i'm might just try and make it, otherwise, god, SORRY SORRY SORRY, and i pinky swear to make it on the 15th! i thought i left ny the morning of the 11th, but it was the night, so i arrived this afternoon - i just keep fucking up.

the possible mitch, Monday, 12 January 2004 22:10 (twenty-two years ago)

hehehe i think a good time was had, much shouting of "mitch" etc

i knocked off early because i am a gurl, also

IMPORTANT

if anyone finds a small pin badge that says "exeter exiles" on it, it's mine, but i fear it is gone forever...

...just have to pretend to be a norwegian grecian from now on i guess...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 12 January 2004 23:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Meh, nice to meet you Mitch! Actually I got a headache and felt a bit blah after a bit so knocked off slightly early. After doing home just before closing time twice recently I have discovered how much nicer it makes a journey back home: I OWNZ0R the top of the 12!!

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 09:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I've just got into work, after staying out all night with Mitch. It's amazing - you can live in a city all your life, but after 25 years London suddenly becomes so new and exciting when you're with someone as crazy as Mitch. Oh, the stories I could tell you... Mitch, I can't believe you went up to Tina S Club and actually got her phone number! You hero...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 10:07 (twenty-two years ago)

so, was last night's venue chosen because it had the hotly debated mixer taps in the bathrooms?

andy

koogs (koogs), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 10:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm totally the go-between now!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 17:30 (twenty-two years ago)

what a goddamn mess. i couldnt sleep last night thinking about all the irritable and/or bemused britains that had waited for me. i don't tend to think of myself as a fuckup, but, well.. yeah. if no-one shows up on the 15th, i won't be suprised (ps. please don't not come because i said that). if you require an additional excuse, the friend i was travelling with became ill on the plane, and i wasnt too keen on either leaving him alone our first night in the uk or forcing him to come with me. i don't really know what else to say.

m., Tuesday, 13 January 2004 19:36 (twenty-two years ago)

don't worry about it mitch.

see you on thursday.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 21:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Mark C in agreeing with Julio shockah.

Hoping to meet you on Thursday, Mitch. Fancy a duet?

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 21:37 (twenty-two years ago)

mitch- don't duet with barry. that's trouble.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 21:40 (twenty-two years ago)

i think julio and mark should do a duet.

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 22:20 (twenty-two years ago)

It's okay Mitch - as far as I was concerned I had a fine evening out with lots of great ILXers anyway, so your absence was only a small loss. I'll look forward to seeing you on Thursday. If you are interested in seeing where I work, it's the first building on the North side of the first cross street to the South of the Pint Pot - you can see the back of the pub out of the rear window I am near. Exciting, eh? Sarah works across the road from there, and Julio studies at the university both of us work for.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 22:22 (twenty-two years ago)

so thursday will possibly feature:

[two unnamed well respected male posters] doing tatu
the return of the cheeky boys

and julio and mark doing, oh i don't know "something stupid" perhaps?

how could anyone miss this evening?????

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 22:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I am surely not well respected, am I? Thank you, Steve!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 23:13 (twenty-two years ago)

how could anyone miss this evening?????

hmmm?

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 23:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Ed! what time does your thing start again? seeing as it's only down the road from me i would like to stop by but would have to be early as i am also keen to fit in the Pint Pot (aiming to get there by 9 perhaps)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 23:22 (twenty-two years ago)

we start at 8

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 01:23 (twenty-two years ago)

We leave at daybreak!

(Sorry, should get off ILx and finish work so I can get some sleep.)

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 01:29 (twenty-two years ago)

In the queue for duets with Baz the Laz, I would like to put my name down for 'Under Pressure'.

Another special guest at this karaokefap will be - all the way from Fort Collins - Mrs the Nipper's wee sister, Drew Barrymore Kelly!

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 11:38 (twenty-two years ago)

way to hide a karaoke FAP in an old thread! I am listening to Xtina right now and am considering a growl through FIGHTAH tomorrow - unless they have Take That Look Off Your Face at long last. see you then.

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 11:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Do I hear any takers for Fatman Scoop?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 11:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Can a moderator add "and karaoke FAP 18th January" to the thread title?

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 11:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Er, the karaoke's on the 15th, isn't it?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 11:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Uh oh, when Farrell pays this much attention to a foreign FAP thread, we all know what this means.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 12:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Fatman Scoop = possibly, maybe also 'In Da Club' because it would be fun to murmur incoherently on the mic rather than just in general.

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 12:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, yes it is. My mistake. Can it be altered to add the words Thursday and karaoke then?

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 12:07 (twenty-two years ago)

At this stage it's not likely unless everyone agrees to pay a fiver handling fees.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 12:09 (twenty-two years ago)

(xpost)

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 12:09 (twenty-two years ago)

There should be a Justin karaoke version of "Where is the Love?" where they take away the mike and give you a hat to wear instead.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 12:12 (twenty-two years ago)

The Evening Standard says that Justin T's Brit-nominated LP is PROOF THAT QUALITY IS STILL POPULAR.

the popfox, Wednesday, 14 January 2004 14:52 (twenty-two years ago)

did it make news other than IMDB that JT got punched in the face on sunday? he says 'it's just crazy over here in britain. i f-ing hate coming over here'.

ha ha. i like him and all, but this sounds pretty funny.

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 14:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't like him. I am in truth glad that he was struck.

the popfox, Wednesday, 14 January 2004 15:53 (twenty-two years ago)

So - is there a karaoke FAP tomorrow night (Thursday)? What time?

the popfox, Wednesday, 14 January 2004 20:12 (twenty-two years ago)

where is the love popfox?

i expect people will be in the Pint Pot from 6-ish

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 21:14 (twenty-two years ago)

if not marginally earlier...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 21:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Almost fallen off the page...

Undecided when to get there. But I will be there. Possibly stopping by record shop to purchase Franz Ferdinand, Felix da Housecat, Fiery Furnaces and Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster tings first.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Thursday, 15 January 2004 10:04 (twenty-two years ago)

there's a new Felix dH?

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Thursday, 15 January 2004 10:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmmm...there are no blizzards as per this time last year, G's out tonight at a band rehearsal (Simon Fell's quintet) and I have done all next month's Uncut work, plus I need to catch up with Mark S, so logically I could come to this but am making no promises.

Phoebe Dinsmore, Thursday, 15 January 2004 10:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, is _that_ who you are?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 15 January 2004 10:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm afraid so. I have entered my Tico Tico Google-proof phase ;-)

Phoebe Dinsmore, Thursday, 15 January 2004 10:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think I can come any more - I've just been hit with a pretty large pile of unpaid bills, therefore will be saving my pennies for the footy this Saturday. Have fun nonetheless.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 15 January 2004 10:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Trust me it wasn't done for google proofing, it was done for legal reasons.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 15 January 2004 10:50 (twenty-two years ago)

(xpost)Well, nice to see you back. Now back to people picking out outfits for tonight...

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 15 January 2004 10:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think I'll be along either - finances extremely dire and the Pint Pot being a hole = me going home to eat gammon until my eyes bulge, I'm afraid. But... I guess you kids will survive... :)

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 15 January 2004 11:00 (twenty-two years ago)

me neither, the very thought of going to a karaoke night sober makes me want to shoot people.

chris (chris), Thursday, 15 January 2004 11:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Argh! Wait, what is going on now? Karaoke? What madness is this? Non/Sense from 8pm? What time will people be at the Pint Pot? Maybe I can drop by for a halfpint before skedaddling to the bus to the Foundry? If I get there early, it will be before the Karaoke begins? Perhaps?

Dammit, I need to be hungover and wretched to get on a plane tomorrow!

the river fleet, Thursday, 15 January 2004 11:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Alan - no, I just haven't bought Kittenz and I keep meaning to. And nowhere in Croydon has it.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Thursday, 15 January 2004 11:58 (twenty-two years ago)

directions for mitch:

http://www.fancyapint.com/thepubs/pub37.htm

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 15 January 2004 12:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll be there early Kate -something like 6 - and the karaoke starts much later, 9 or 10 or so I think - it has a late licence until 1 on a Thursday.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 15 January 2004 13:27 (twenty-two years ago)

the drop-outers disgust me

i can't sing if Matt DC isn't there to heckle

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 15 January 2004 13:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll heckle if you like. Sarah & I will be there at 7.15 or so.

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 15 January 2004 13:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Steve - I never dropped in, can I be forgiven?

Plus, we need to talk, you available tomorrow poss Saturday (depending on how dentist goes)?

chris (chris), Thursday, 15 January 2004 13:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't dump Steve, Chris - he loves you so much! You guys are perfect together!

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 15 January 2004 13:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Bite me

chris (chris), Thursday, 15 January 2004 14:18 (twenty-two years ago)

i am aiming to finalise THE COMMISION for tomorrow evening Christof - also, i had e-mail problems so don't know if Johnny got my confirmation regarding flight booking

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 15 January 2004 14:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll ask him old boy

chris (chris), Thursday, 15 January 2004 14:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll be there about sevenish.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 15 January 2004 15:16 (twenty-two years ago)

will absolutely be there tonight - sometimes between 6L45 and 7:00.

m., Thursday, 15 January 2004 15:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Is YMOF flying over?

the beefox, Thursday, 15 January 2004 16:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I had a great time, and astonishingly Mitch was there - to whom I apologise for not saying much more than hello. Great karaoke performances from Pete, Carsmile and several others, I thought.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 16 January 2004 00:50 (twenty-two years ago)

More recordings plz.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 16 January 2004 02:13 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm in london-town on april 1st for the day, just prior to atp week 2, FAP?

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 16 January 2004 02:21 (twenty-two years ago)

carsmile's "i believe in a thing called love" was indeed fantastic. tom and pete's "where is the love?" was the highlight, i thought. the pinefox's "when love comes to town" embarassingly reminded me that i know every world to rattle and hum. kelly mrsthenipper was v good too i though.

i left at 11 (just after mitch's "hard knock life"), what did i miss?

a karaoke fap on april the 1st sounds like a fantastic idea.

toby (tsg20), Friday, 16 January 2004 09:00 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm in london-town on april 1st for the day, just prior to atp week 2, FAP?
Are you sure you're not playing a prank?!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 16 January 2004 09:02 (twenty-two years ago)

carsmile's "i believe in a thing called love"

I can't believe I missed this!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 16 January 2004 09:08 (twenty-two years ago)

i left at 11 (just after mitch's "hard knock life"), what did i miss?

pain, ruin and misery mainly...

...i appear to be still drunk, fortunately bosses at meeting for most fo the day.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 16 January 2004 10:01 (twenty-two years ago)

of, obv.

me and pete finished the night (because karaoke woman wuvved us) with FOUR MINUTE WARNING, ph34r us...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 16 January 2004 10:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Your desperation for a pint at 12:30 knew no bounds. Mind you it lathered you up nicely for the final triumphant performance of the niht : Four Minute Warning.

Mitch's Hard Knock Life was terrific too, pity Without me wouldn't work.

Karaoke Lady was very good I though, as usual the tunes between the songs were just as much fun.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 16 January 2004 10:05 (twenty-two years ago)

i would like another FAK sooner than April 1st i think, despite being too much of a cowardy-custard to do a song last night (handing my slip in at about 11.45 as i did, far too late as it turned out)

special mention for the final performance - Pete (who also did a pretty good 'Crashed The Wedding' to start things off) and Carsmile's 'Four Minute Warning' which i have now realised is a GREAT song with actually REALLY GOOD lyrics.

stevem (blueski), Friday, 16 January 2004 10:06 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm gutted that NOBODY did Gary Jules tho

stevem (blueski), Friday, 16 January 2004 10:08 (twenty-two years ago)

i wasn't that bad was i? oh well...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 16 January 2004 10:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Jesus is it a YEAR since that blizzard Karaoke FAP? I think that might have been the last time I properly FAPPED, except I have vague recollections of a halfhour appearence in some boozer just behind Oxford Street in the summer. I have lost a bloody year of my life - but most of my commitments will be done soon - only a week to go - (Which I have to spend in Frankfurt!!)and then I'm on the loose again.

Hi Phoebe!

Dr. C (Dr. C), Friday, 16 January 2004 10:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey Dr C! (the Champion it was if I remember rightly) Long time no wotsit ;-)

Phoebe Dinsmore, Friday, 16 January 2004 10:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes - we talked about Peter Wyngarde! Hopefully will see you soon.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Friday, 16 January 2004 10:30 (twenty-two years ago)

it appears the blizzard FAP was 30th January:

Full on blizzard goin on in west london :D

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 16 January 2004 10:46 (twenty-two years ago)

what was the song that pete was doing bizarre limbo dancing to? it was shortly after where is the love, i think.

the oddest songs i noted on the list were radiohead's "there there" and laurie anderson's "o superman" (!!).

we definitely need at least a couple more karaoke faps before april 1st. it's not clear to me why they stopped, they're always fantastic.

toby (tsg20), Friday, 16 January 2004 11:43 (twenty-two years ago)

What, someone did "O Superman", all 98 minutes of it? Damn I really should have come to this...

Phoebe Dinsmore, Friday, 16 January 2004 11:47 (twenty-two years ago)

no sadly no-one was up for it. i still think pete's the man for the job.

toby (tsg20), Friday, 16 January 2004 11:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I think the next KFAP needs to be a Friday one - it'd be nice to stay the full 12.30 course without being faced with next-day work ruin.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 16 January 2004 12:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm pretty sure that Dr C was at Geeta-SouthallFAP upstairs at the Lyceum last summer as well.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 16 January 2004 12:01 (twenty-two years ago)

matt, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find somewhere to do karaoke on a friday, as we've had no joy (apart from some uber scary places) since the KoC stopped.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 16 January 2004 12:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Doesn't the Pint Pot do Friday karaoke as well?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 16 January 2004 12:07 (twenty-two years ago)

no, i think it has in the past, but there was no sign last night, thursday only to the best of my knowledge.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 16 January 2004 12:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Was I singing the limbo dancing song (I do bizarre limbo dancing to almost anything), cos all I sung was Summer Of '69, Crashed The Wedding, Where Are You Love and Four Minute Warning.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 16 January 2004 12:57 (twenty-two years ago)

someone else was singing and you were dancing, i was stood next to emma and laughing a lot. maybe alan was singing?

i really wish there were pictures of last night.

toby (tsg20), Friday, 16 January 2004 13:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Alan sang Lose Yourself, but i don't imagine I was limboing. I did a bit of a funny dance to We're Going Out by the Younger Younger Carsmilesteves.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 16 January 2004 13:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm sorry I had to leave at 10.30 - sounds like I missed lots of storming performances.

Thanks though for the cheer as I went up to do Michael Jackson - I wonder what it could have been for?

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 16 January 2004 13:23 (twenty-two years ago)

oh yeah it was the yy28s. i'd forgotten all about that.

toby (tsg20), Friday, 16 January 2004 14:11 (twenty-two years ago)

There was karaoke YY28s?!!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 16 January 2004 14:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yes, Steve was very convincing. It was almost as if he had been in a no mark indie band himself!!!

Pete (Pete), Friday, 16 January 2004 14:15 (twenty-two years ago)

hehehe, we're going out...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 16 January 2004 15:09 (twenty-two years ago)

i remember there being another couple of karaoke places on fridays - one SCARY place that is near Waterloo (the crown and cushion?) with scary dancing jamacian man.

and there is also MR BOING! Featuring the worst website ever - but you can PRE-BOOK songs by email and also he takes photos of you while you sing! From the website he seems to be off to Oz for 3 weeks. He used to do friday nights at the Frog in the Hole(? i can't remmeber the name) opposite bond street station.
