Add your name and birthday to this thread, and I'll create a database and will personally ensure that everyone on the list gets a Birthday Thread started for them on the appropriate day. I'm good like that:)

Mark, his wife Dawn, and ME!!

Colin Meeder (Mert), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 09:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry to turn into jess, but this is a pretty insulting idea. I'd rather have my birthday remembered by friends than read off a list by interweb mentalists.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 09:55 (twenty-two years ago)

my friends = internet mentalists

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 10:00 (twenty-two years ago)

It's not like it's either/or. xpost

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 10:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Andrew I recommend you post a nonsense answer if you do not want to post your real birthday on this thread! That's what I did, and I've ne'er looked back!

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 10:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Then don't post your b/day!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 10:03 (twenty-two years ago)

July 20th the greatest day of my life.

Speedy Gonzalas (Speedy Gonzalas), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 10:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Presumably you don't need to mention anything if you've already had a thread here?

Poppy (poppy), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 10:22 (twenty-two years ago)

My birthday is real similar to Mr Grout's

caitlin (caitlin), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 10:34 (twenty-two years ago)

17th October (three days after Liz). We have quite a few Libras and Scorpios it seems.

Life must be full of anticipation for Matt DC - does this envelope contain a birthday card or a VALENTINES card???

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 11:25 (twenty-two years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 11:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Roughly 48 hours before the year changes hands.

Or you could simply look up any threads with "tenacious" in the title and ta-da, a thread started by a real sweetheart of a person and contributed to by some kindly souls will appear. :)

Mellow Dee (Dee the Lurker), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 12:17 (twenty-two years ago)

ha, järgmise kuu 10.ndal on minu sünnipäev, aitäh küsimast...

So does that mean I wont get one this year cos I'm too new? :-(
x-post

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 12:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Pink, I'm willing to hypothesize that Kate only wanted a b-day thread for the first time last year. Do not worry.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 12:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Phew!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 12:55 (twenty-two years ago)

kilian 24th july

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 12:59 (twenty-two years ago)

No, Suzy, that's not true. I tried mentioning stuff like I was having a birthday party online and got SHOUTED AT AND SLAGGED OFF FOR DARING TO BE SO INCONSIDERATE AS TO PROMOTE MY BAND ON ILX rather than anyone actually noticing that it was my freaking birthday when all I wanted was a birthday thread, and they wouldn't give it to me!

the river fleet, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 13:00 (twenty-two years ago)

(ooops sorry)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 13:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Dale the Titled (cprek), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 14:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm sorry if anyone (i.e. Andrew) felt insulted by this, as it really wasn't meant to be like that. Of course most people will have birthday threads started for them by their particular friends, but I just wanted to make sure nobody missed out.

C J (C J), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 14:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I think it's a great idea CJ & if other ppl don't then they don't have to include their b/days.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 14:13 (twenty-two years ago)

10/18/74

Chris V (Chris V), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 14:24 (twenty-two years ago)

But someone will miss out. Now come someone (on the edges of ILX)'s birthday, they'll either get no thread despite writing their name here, or the same "the usual suspects" as everyone else. What good does it do?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 14:26 (twenty-two years ago)

@d@ml : May 31st, The Battle Of Jutland, Clint Eastwood, Brooke Shields.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 14:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Like I'd tell you fuxors.

My Huckleberry Friend (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Heck, we're all grown up (xcl Aja) and mostly anon anyway. Birthday posts from the people you have 'bantered' with is cool. Those that miss out will prob be the lurkers / few posts anyway.

tale: On my thirtieth bday, got up and turned on the TV and first thing on was a vintage Milky Bar advert, (blonde kid, round specs, cowboy outfit, "Milky Bars are on me") I thought 'Blimey that's the kid I looked like at the time". The ad finished with "Happy birthday to the Milky Bar Kid (30 years old)!" And although that was my nickname when I was six or whatever, the ad had nothing to do with me, just a v.bizzare coincidence.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Andrew F otm.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 14:44 (twenty-two years ago)

There is something eerie, but not uncommon, about making ILX so facelessly inclusive. I like to think if I wasn't a regular I'd feel the same way.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 14:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, some people want their birthdays to remain special knowledge, inscribed only in THE BOOK OF TIME to which access can be gained solely by an Anciente Rituale involving a vole and a disco biscuit.

I know that describes me at any rate!

My friends already know my birthday (or at least you'd better bluddy do this year I would please like a soundcard for the Beast a pair of large legwarmers and an cuddly toy. And an pint).

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Also Ronan OTM, I'm just in a silly mood after drinking too much mint flavoured chocolate beverage.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 14:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Bags the pint!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 14:52 (twenty-two years ago)

same as Tuomas

Begs2Differ, Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:18 (twenty-two years ago)

October 19th

Matt (Matt), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:30 (twenty-two years ago)

(I have no objection to being wished a happy birthday, or not, it's entirely up to you).

Matt (Matt), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Dan Perry: January 18.

(HAHA YOU MISSED ME THIS YEAR)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Nickalicious: Septober Eleventy-twelfth, 1909.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Bryan: January 27th

Given how my thread went (the nice people who had warm wishes notwithstanding) I'd almost rather if I didn't have one next year.
I WILL HAVE MY VENGEANCE.

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think I would want a birthday thread if I'd had to ask for it myself (I already had one and was quite surprised, but I actually have real life friends here so not that surprised)

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Honestly, you lot are mentalists. What is wrong with people wishing you happy birthday? I wouldn't start my own thread, but apart from that I don't really care whether I am on an actual database or one existing only in Mooro's (or whoever's) head. After all, if CJ didn't wish HBs for us in the first place she wouldn't be offering to do this. It's all joy and grebt :)

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:47 (twenty-two years ago)

*nods*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Archel is very wise!

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I just think efforts to make ILX more inclusive or friendly don't really work, someone will be forgotten and it'll be more than just being forgotten by a group of people, it'll be like "hey put me on the DATABASE, please".

I agree it's a bit picky to not post one's birthday here but what people are getting at is having it so standardised, of course it's nice to wish anyone a happy birthday whether you know them or otherwise, but to make it like we all know each other equally is kind of false and very internetmessageboardswhicharen'tilxTM to me.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:52 (twenty-two years ago)

It should be really simple, put your b/day here if you want to, you don't have to. If someone starts a thread for you then great, if they don't, well then you need to get past it!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I am a serial forgetter of birthdays and late sender of presents so I really wouldn't be offended if somebody forgot mine.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:56 (twenty-two years ago)

March 2 for me, along with Andy Kellman, scholar and gent.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:58 (twenty-two years ago)

i hate birthdays. therefore i will not be posting mine

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I was gonna say I'm quite good at remembering my friends' birthday but..shit! I just remembered I forgot a friend's birthday!!! Jamie, if you're reading this, I am an idiot. Happy birthday for a couple of weeks ago!

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 15:59 (twenty-two years ago)

How would you know someone's birthday if you didn't ask?

Heck, office rules: Start your own thread on your birthday with a cake for all to download...

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Ahem yes happy birthday Jamie. I am better at remembering when people are actually in the country...

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:02 (twenty-two years ago)

cf. Ailsa's birthday present which remains unbought (x-post)

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:03 (twenty-two years ago)

this sort of thing is what's wrong with ILX. sorry but it is.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:14 (twenty-two years ago)

12 of August for me.

also, Ronan hates fun. Even spatula fun.

Kingfish Funyun (Kingfish), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

'ILX' cannot have things wrong with it as it is merely a collection of typed words, some of which you may not agree with.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:21 (twenty-two years ago)

What sort of thing is wrong Ronan? This thread, or the fact that Madchen hasn't bought my birthday present yet?

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Well then don't look at it Ronan. ILX is already inclusive & friendly for some, see various fap threads! Yuo can't say it's ok for one thing (i.e. faps) and not for others! (b/day)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:23 (twenty-two years ago)

this sort of thing is what's wrong with ILX. sorry but it is.
-- Ronan (ronan.fitzgerald...), February 10th, 2004.

the most self-referential post ever.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think Ronan is advocating a cold and heartless ILX by any means. But this is organized fun. I'm sure you're all well meaning, but that makes little difference.

Archel: you don't have to agree with everything written on ILX (!) to see that somethings are good and some aren't.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh. I meant to type < /fluffy rockism > before.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

i lurk these days.

12th feb.

g-kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I was joking Andrew. But even so 'some things are good and some aren't' is really just 'I like some things more than I like others'.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

We should have a shoe, trouser and bra size database too, just in case someone wants to send clothing as presents.

Oh and blood types in case someone falls over and needs a transfusion. Imagine the blood, red and sparkly, agains the austere white and black of ILE...

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Archel: I'm assuming that "more new people please" is an objective good thing. This doesn't help that.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:29 (twenty-two years ago)

FAPs are not necessarily inclusive that way, also inviting someone for a pint is giving them the chance to get to know you. This is "inclusive" in one way but in another it just makes the board more false and synthetic, the same as on other boards where everything is cushioned to the point of view of people getting along to the extent where it's entirely impersonal and just a matter of signal:response.

ILX hasn't gotten like that yet and this thread isn't quite that bad but personally that's the feeling I get from it. I accept this may seem an over-reaction, and most of me just thinks who cares really, it's fairly irrelevent, I might have said nothing if nobody else had.

Self referential, whatever Ken, sorry I don't want to destory anyone's Huxleyan paradise, I better be quiet.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:29 (twenty-two years ago)

joking about "huxleyan paradise" btw

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:30 (twenty-two years ago)

there should be a database of things that people want to whinge about, so that any posts that mention such things will not appear on their web browser. and people who enjoy these things can enjoy them.

Add whinging on the database for me please.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Arrgh. It's not 'organised fun' as still nobody is forcing you to POST on a birthday thread. So what does it matter who starts them? I mean birthday threads might well be a bad thing in general but I don't think they're going away.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think they are a bad thing in general, I just think organising them this way is.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh I dunno, I'd have quite liked one.

Matt (Matt), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Birthdays and the celebration of them is not a big deal, kids. That my birthday thread was derailed over someone not having their birthday celebrated on here makes me think YOU FUCKERS NEED TO LIGHTEN THE FUCK UP. I'm starting to think we need an ilx database of anal sphincter diameters.

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

21st May, haterz.

("anal sphincter database" haha bryan!!)

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

How is "lighten up" or "don't read it" meant to be a response. It's not as though I'm ruining this for you, I just wanted to express my opinion fully because I am 100 percent certain some people, even a few will agree with me.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

but to make it like we all know each other equally is kind of false and very internetmessageboardswhicharen'tilxTM to me.

well, it isn't too false is it, speaking as someone who's never fapped or met any other ilxor. i don't see what the fuss is about. obviously starting a thread for everyone's b'day is k-lame and won't work, but what's the harm in this thread?

Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:37 (twenty-two years ago)

What sort of thrill are you going to get on your birthday when you get a thread then? Wooh, someone remembered that I told everyone when my birthday was, I'm so special? If no-one here knew when my birthday was, it's because no-one cared enough to ask me (that's ask me personally, not a blanket invitation to get my ego massaged in public). And that wouldn't bother me at all.

(or, what bryan said)

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually Ronan, I don't even know what your fucking point is (I'm sure if I thought about it I'd either see it and say "ok sure" or something). All I'm saying is that far too big a deal is being made out of this and I think THAT'S what's wrong with ilx.

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:39 (twenty-two years ago)

"meta never makes it betta" (he sez rather hypocritically)

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:40 (twenty-two years ago)

March 25

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:41 (twenty-two years ago)

How does that mean it isn't false? Even before I met anyone here clearly there were some people I knew or got along with better than others. I'm not talking major divide between the two either, on the contrary it's the idea of vagely not knowing people and yet pretending otherwise that creeps me out a bit.

ILX is absolutely huge now, there are so many people here, it is not a community anymore and when it was it never needed this sort of community regulatory stuff because it actually was one.

(I would have remembered yours jay, how can you betray me like this!!)

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:42 (twenty-two years ago)

It's kind of shit when somebody you thought you liked takes a swipe at you.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:43 (twenty-two years ago)

As was pointed out before though Ailsa, how are people ever going to know when your birthday is if you don't tell them? Obviously quite a few people will not be using this thread to do that and that's their prerogative, but personally I like to be wished a happy birthday, even by people I only know through a messageboard. If they don't like me or feel they don't know me well enough then they can still not post to the thread.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:43 (twenty-two years ago)

archel otm.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Anyway, sorry for being abrasive. And I do see your point, Ronan. I was just being a prick bastard at your expense. Sorry about that. I still think this birthday database is a fine idea that probably should've happened a long time ago. If you don't want to participate in it then that's cool but criticizing those who do want to seems a little silly to me.

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:44 (twenty-two years ago)

It's not regulatory in intention though really is it Ronan, any more than This Is The Thread Where I Say is, or any FAP thread. Just making connections and using the forum in different ways.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I remember one valentines day a few years ago, I was browsing the card racks and found a "happy valentine's day from your loving mum" card.

ermm,,,

WHAT!

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:45 (twenty-two years ago)

no worries Bryan, I'm not criticising people personally I just find the concept a bit odd.

j.lu (j.lu), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

In case I'm the recipient of Madchen's comment upthread, I'm not taking a swipe at anyone really, I just hate organised fun and am cranky and have a sore head and am not thinking straight and I'm going to go away now.

(if I'm not, add paranoid to cranky).

Archel - I totally have no argument with that at all. This is a fine idea, just not for me. So I guess I should just shut up and let everyone who thinks it is a good idea continue to do so, and I'll just slink off back to Ally's radio show thread. Sorry folks.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:50 (twenty-two years ago)

It's more :
What's worse - getting no valentines cards or getting one. (from yr mum).

I think getting a Valentine's card from yr mum is quite sweet.

Ailsa - paranoid.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:53 (twenty-two years ago)

i'd rather my mum fix me up with a date really.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Mark I would but -- this'll sound very rude indeed, but I'm still not really ready for real-world contact with ILXors, though I admit i flirt with the idea on some threads. Spiritually I'm with Ronan abt this thread, mainly cos ILX overuse is risking my job... so argh we shall see (it really isn't meant to be rude).

Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmm. This sounds a lot like those people who Friendster everyone they've ever heard of rather than just their friends.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm still not really ready for real-world contact with ILXors

that's ok and understandable tho the temptation to say hello Enrique to random Grandponters has manifested itself at various times in the hopes I might be right :)

oh no, Ken! Getting your Mum to fix you up with someone is the WORST IDEA EVER. I can just imagine "Oh Mark, why don't you go out with x, she's a nice girl" (Mark looks round for nearest bucket to vom in).

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Blimey, I can't believe something which started as something so well-intentioned has ended up being so controversial for some of you. I'm all upset now. Bastards.

C J (C J), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:57 (twenty-two years ago)

CJ ignore it, I thought it was a nice idea, ppl are of course entitled to their opinions, but it would've been better on a different thread. I just don't get why ppl are getting so offended by a list of birthdays!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

hahaha mark, I disguise myself as a student, so happy hunting. oh, no, what I mean is, I haven't bought clothes since I was a student...

Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

You're maybe right Andrew and it does take away from the "organicness" of ilx and this is sad, but it's better than leaving people out I think. Sometimes wishing someone a happy birthday is a nice way to make friends. (x-post)

Please don't be upset, CJ! This is really sweet that you're doing this. It probably wouldn't be a worthwhile and good thing if it wasn't debated at least a little bit on here.

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:59 (twenty-two years ago)

CJ, please don't feel upset....I'm with you 100% on the birthday thing.

(x-post)

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 16:59 (twenty-two years ago)

enrique, I'm sort of with you on the Meeting up thing... the rest does not matter..

xpost - FIVE XPOSTS? AT least three times this thread...

xpost2 - and another one.

xpost3 - and another,

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

It's "sad" like growing up is sad. Sorry, that didn't come out the way I wanted it to.

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

xpost originally to Andrew

Hm, it's an interesting issue. I think I have
1) friends who I know in real life
2) people who I communicate with one-to-one but only online
3) people I respect/warm to for their online personality but don't actually communicate with one-to-one

All of these groups are represented in my Friendster list, and all of these groups I would enjoy receiving birthday wishes from though it wd obviously be on different levels.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 17:01 (twenty-two years ago)

If I drew a picture, there'd be in the middle, those that meet/swap clothes/etc, outside of that those that know each other, outside that those that don't or can't meet up, then theres those that lurk.

And my point is what?

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 17:02 (twenty-two years ago)

There's a mathematical limit to how many can FAP/change clothes?

OR IS THERE?

Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 17:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, lovefest threads for utter strangers do nothing for me, I have nothing else to say here!

Andrew, Ronan and Ailsa, as with any thread, stay off it if it's not to your taste. As far as I can see you're being needlessly negative about something which, in a small way, makes some people happy while not hurting anyone else. And it's a rare thread for that.

Ronan, why do you always need to have something to whine about? Self-indulgent negativity just deflates and upsets other people who I'm sure you'd never want to upset as you're a lovely bloke.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 18:47 (twenty-two years ago)

fwiw, I was genuinely touched when someone kept track and started birthday threads for me these past few years. Whenever there isn't such a big deal made in your personal life, it can seem very sweet that even semi-strangers gave those few moments of thought.

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:32 (twenty-two years ago)

1979 was a good year.

Amen. (Another 1979 baby here! Though I *just* made it under the wire.)

Hey, just as an FYI, this is what I do when I want to be confronted by a bunch of nameless faces who wouldn't care one iota about when my birthday was/is -- I go outside and I face a crowd. I get enough anonymity on the outside. When I retreat to a land created by a computer and a cable modem, the world becomes small and manageable again. I totally agree with the "If you don't want to wish someone a happy birthday, you don't have to" sentiments. And CJ, thank you for this thread. You are, as always, an angel.
