Trayce (trayce), Friday, 20 February 2004 05:10 (twenty-one years ago)

speaking of edible, there is a chocolate mud cake in the fridge, but it's been in there a week now. Should I give it a go or should I bin it?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 20 February 2004 05:13 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 20 February 2004 05:13 (twenty-one years ago)

damn! Trust you to say something like that. Steal that wine from work and send it to me. I'm thinking of going without dinner so i can buy a bottle instead.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 20 February 2004 05:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Seems I have rep. Just got this email:

"you can get the wine now and ill pay you back, or get it later
from theo's when we go to dinner. up to you. if you get it now, dont drink it yet"

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 20 February 2004 05:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahah sounds like something my friends would say to me.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 20 February 2004 05:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm hopeless :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 20 February 2004 05:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 20 February 2004 05:58 (twenty-one years ago)

everyone needs minty to cook for them!!

also i have decided that if i ever have a lobotomy and decide to have children, i am naming the malespawn "port royal" and the femalespawn "gudang".

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 20 February 2004 06:02 (twenty-one years ago)

scott styris just hit a six. rock on.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 20 February 2004 06:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Mmmmm lobotomised chicks

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Friday, 20 February 2004 06:04 (twenty-one years ago)

maccallum and styris are caning ass.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 20 February 2004 06:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah but Shortland Street's on!

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Friday, 20 February 2004 06:05 (twenty-one years ago)

andrew if they ever my frontal lobe, i'll donate it to you with love. meh, i can catch up with shorters later.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 20 February 2004 06:07 (twenty-one years ago)

actualyl whats happening? hows tash and donna and chris? styris just hit another six, as much i love shorters, this is pretty awesome.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 20 February 2004 06:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Tash admitted to Shannon Chris didn't do anything but you prob saw that. Donna/Tash are sick of living w/Toni, Barb thinks Marshall's insane.

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Friday, 20 February 2004 06:10 (twenty-one years ago)

What madness is this?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 20 February 2004 06:11 (twenty-one years ago)

i missed it last night too. styris hit another six. ned we are talking about the lovely shortland street, between my cricket commentary.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 20 February 2004 06:12 (twenty-one years ago)

but you probably gathered that. styris hit another six.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 20 February 2004 06:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah, cricket -- all is clear(er). And Shortland Street lives on in my heart.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 20 February 2004 06:13 (twenty-one years ago)

254/5 off 38 overs. w00t!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 20 February 2004 06:15 (twenty-one years ago)

is donna gonna go back to chris? has marshall confessed he loves god yet? and will such a confession mean he and delphi can get it on?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 20 February 2004 06:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Nope, it means he has to go to Australia, unless he stays for her sake/renounces his calling.

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Friday, 20 February 2004 06:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Any beating scenes in this soapie? I've got some vokda in the freezer and Rach has just painted my zoot suit white. We're going to have some fun tonight!!!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 20 February 2004 06:30 (twenty-one years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 20 February 2004 06:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I was like "uh oh, 10 w/out loss" then I remembered that's only an achievement if NZ's batting

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Friday, 20 February 2004 06:40 (twenty-one years ago)

OK this cricket talk confuses and infuriates morbo, so I'm going to bugger off shopping in chapel street now. Nyar. I may be online later, as I have no life.

Have fun y'bastids.

mullygrubber (gaz), Saturday, 21 February 2004 03:54 (twenty-one years ago)

it's a sub pop compilation. every track is clipping all the way through. i'm ready to snap someone's neck in half.

the surface noise (electricsound), Saturday, 21 February 2004 03:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I am so glad I dont have an engineer's ear for recordings =) You're like Nick is with 3d animation - he's forver bitching out CGI for being badly done, and so now I see it too.

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 21 February 2004 03:59 (twenty-one years ago)

my colleague was badmouthing a wee circular for some community event because it was hand drawn and lettered. i read all the words and there were no spelling mistakes.

mullygrubber (gaz), Saturday, 21 February 2004 04:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Thats like picking on a 5 year old's drawing for being crap! Thats sad :(

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 21 February 2004 04:02 (twenty-one years ago)

heheh.. hand drawing can be endearing sometimes

ahh this cd is mastered better.. i can relax now

the surface noise (electricsound), Saturday, 21 February 2004 04:06 (twenty-one years ago)

theres like this design fascism that hits people. if it aint done on the latest version of photoshop at extremely high resolution its crap. i like hand drawing!

mullygrubber (gaz), Saturday, 21 February 2004 04:11 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 22 February 2004 22:26 (twenty-one years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 22 February 2004 22:28 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 22 February 2004 22:29 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 22 February 2004 22:29 (twenty-one years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 23 February 2004 00:32 (twenty-one years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 23 February 2004 00:34 (twenty-one years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 23 February 2004 00:49 (twenty-one years ago)

hi colin! i'm good except for the niggling little part of me that is mopey! i have moved into a new flat and i love it. i'm sorry you are overworked and gaz i am sorry you are feeling rotten. have one of these when you knock off, okay?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 23 February 2004 00:51 (twenty-one years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 23 February 2004 00:51 (twenty-one years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 23 February 2004 00:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 23 February 2004 01:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow I dont even remember why I wrote that last drunken post now haha.

Beth Ditto looks like my friend Sarah, the loud american journalist goth girl :)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 23 February 2004 01:08 (twenty-one years ago)

colin i have a phrase for you

bra popping, cock rocking

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 23 February 2004 01:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Thank you, Mully. I have one for you:

Got no time to kick it with the too hip
Cask wine, a bucket bong, an acid trip
Spitfire wheels
Hare Krishna meals

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 23 February 2004 01:20 (twenty-one years ago)

i can relate to that colin, many thanks

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 23 February 2004 01:27 (twenty-one years ago)

You're smellcome.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 23 February 2004 01:52 (twenty-one years ago)

ew

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 23 February 2004 01:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I got that one from Andre 3000. Or was it Nelson Muntz?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 23 February 2004 01:54 (twenty-one years ago)

i think andre 3000 would be something like: stankyou, stankyou very much

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 23 February 2004 03:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I think you may be reek. I stank corrected.

Wow, I'm 36. I'm staggeringly immature for my age.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 23 February 2004 04:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Aha. I've just realised why Mully came up with that phrase. So, mully - you read the street press, you total loser.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 23 February 2004 05:53 (twenty-one years ago)

it was the first time in 9 months col, honest! it was sitting there in the canteen so i picked it up to see if there were any photos of black women in states of undress.

and lo & behold...good mate of yours is it?

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 23 February 2004 09:54 (twenty-one years ago)

So you box the jesuit to those photos too?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 23 February 2004 10:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I should go to one of those nights. If the photos are to be believed, there's champagne and beaautiful women who are partially undressed and hot to trot. As opposed to the average Clan Analogue night.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 23 February 2004 10:13 (twenty-one years ago)

i have completed all the guitars on my record hooray

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 23 February 2004 21:55 (twenty-one years ago)

rock on!!!!!!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 23 February 2004 22:00 (twenty-one years ago)

now for the inevitable six months of vocals

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 23 February 2004 22:01 (twenty-one years ago)

why does it take so long to record?

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 23 February 2004 22:07 (twenty-one years ago)

why does it? you are a perfectionist?

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 23 February 2004 22:09 (twenty-one years ago)

also in 6 months you will think *hmmm, i should redo those guitars*

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 23 February 2004 22:09 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah very true. nah they sound pretty nice, with the possible exception of the very early 90s sounding ones i did last night while delirious

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 23 February 2004 22:13 (twenty-one years ago)

are there horns?

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 23 February 2004 22:22 (twenty-one years ago)

we do the horns in about 3 weeks

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 23 February 2004 22:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Australians to thread! We appear to have Mono intruders:

You all suck

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 00:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Nice work Jim, hope it goes well.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 00:18 (twenty-one years ago)

hey colin if a fey indie popper asked you nicely and offered favours and suchlike would you consider remixing anything?

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 00:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I certainly would! Are you offering, ahem, 'sugar'?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 00:23 (twenty-one years ago)

i'll do it jim! i taught him everything he knows! (he's just blanked it from his memory is all)

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 00:23 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah yeah sugar!!

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 00:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha, can you do us one then? A swap?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 00:25 (twenty-one years ago)

me?! well sure, i couldn't guarantee it wouldn't (a) suck, or (b) be smothered in reverbed guitars

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 00:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Smothered in reverbed guitars? Wot, like Spacemen 3 or somthing? Sounds alright.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 00:30 (twenty-one years ago)

the internet is working! i really wanna hear these!

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 00:30 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 00:40 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 00:41 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 00:43 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 00:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Excellent! Send me your parts then. And Ned, send me your parts too, hehehe.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 00:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I find this request unsettling.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 00:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyway, BOGANS.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 04:28 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 04:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Peter Jackson.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 04:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Every heard of sharpies, Ned? They were a Melbourne subculture of the 70's:

http://www.abc.net.au/arts/visual/stories/sharpies_index.htm

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 04:43 (twenty-one years ago)

From the pictures accessible on the left of that article:

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 04:45 (twenty-one years ago)

what have sharpies to do with bogans in lord of the rings?

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 04:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Everything and nothing.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 04:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Bogans are the New Zealand equivalent of Melbourne's sharpies... or maybe not. I don't know. Anyway, here's another:

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 04:50 (twenty-one years ago)

colin - these are all snaps from your family album. admit it.

di - i AM a westie!

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 08:05 (twenty-one years ago)

My family album shots are all of nervous, balding men and women with hats and handbags holding little plates with cake on them. For I am an Englishman.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 11:06 (twenty-one years ago)

gaz that explains EVERYthing.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 20:40 (twenty-one years ago)

i wonder if westies are the same in nz as here? kind of uncouth, ignorant, possibly violent?

we used to have raging arguments at school about whose house was furthest west. we sang that pink floyd song as "all in all you're just another prick with a board". our hair was shoulder length minimum. we were stoned a lot. we wore flannies and ripped jeans in the daytime / pearl-buttoned silver threaded millers shirts with bogarts and desert boots to go out. we invented the term "latch on to the ring tail". we played catch-the-brick at playlunch. we danced in the flickering disco of our never fixed bedroom fluro to the angels.

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 21:28 (twenty-one years ago)

You're weird, sir.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 21:31 (twenty-one years ago)

this thread REALLY needs damian, i'm gonna recruit him this minute. i don't really know about westies cos i have never lived in auckland.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 21:36 (twenty-one years ago)

westies are anti-weird ned. weird is for poofs and into's and all those other pricks with silver spoons in their mouths.

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 21:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I had no silver spoon! It was plated stainless steel.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 22:34 (twenty-one years ago)

was it painful?

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 22:36 (twenty-one years ago)

its ok ned, i'm no westie no more. i live 5 mins from the beach! my boys will *sob* have what i never did.

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 22:37 (twenty-one years ago)

decent haircuts?

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 22:39 (twenty-one years ago)

exactly!

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 22:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Westies like Metallica T-shirts and a light blue shade of denim. They're probably not all that different from the Sydney westies. I don't really know too much about westies, being as I live on the border of that particular territory as opposed to right in its heart, but their taste in music isn't all bad.

Jim - I am in Melbourne from the 26th-29th of April. I am quietly excited about it at the moment.

Schwingung (Damian), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 01:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 01:58 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 02:07 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 02:16 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 02:20 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 02:54 (twenty-one years ago)

i need a BEER. why can i not find black cords (or cords without f*%&^ing flares) in this darn town?!

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 02:57 (twenty-one years ago)

i was just thinking exactly the same thing

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 02:58 (twenty-one years ago)

You are after some sharpie clothes Jim?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 02:59 (twenty-one years ago)

you bet. i'm the sharpest knife in the drawer. flares are evil.

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 03:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey! I like flares :( The hipsters make my arse look sexy and I like the way cordy flares flop over my sneakers. I look like Im in the Scooby gang (the real one not the buffy one)

We called westies booners in Canberra. And westies as well. Theyre called bogans down here, I never knew about sharpies til I moved to Melb tho. Sharpies were a strange, strange lot.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 03:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I can unflare flares with my nifty sewing apparatus.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 03:07 (twenty-one years ago)

i was forced to wear flares as a small boy. they were purple and had wee square patchlike pockets on the FRONT. i was so ashamed.

it was a formative experience

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 03:12 (twenty-one years ago)

ooh unflared flares!

flares make me look like an idiot. unfortunately i have this affliction that whenever i wear something "trendy" it totally doesn't suit me. hence my fashion sense is rooted firmly somewhere between the mid 60s and the early 90s.

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 03:15 (twenty-one years ago)

a combination of those i mean

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 03:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I think you're a bit gangly for flares really. :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 03:16 (twenty-one years ago)

gangly in a GOOD way damn it.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 03:34 (twenty-one years ago)

outback jack has nothing on the bushwhackers.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 03:38 (twenty-one years ago)

what would bad gangly be?

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 03:39 (twenty-one years ago)

macquarie def: awkwardly tall and spindly

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 03:41 (twenty-one years ago)

mick fleetwood

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 03:42 (twenty-one years ago)

flares suck. nobody looks good in them.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 03:42 (twenty-one years ago)

except trayce of course

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 03:43 (twenty-one years ago)

i'll take your word for it.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 03:46 (twenty-one years ago)

she sez it herself!

Hey! I like flares :( The hipsters make my arse look sexy and I like the way cordy flares flop over my sneakers

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 03:47 (twenty-one years ago)

So shall I start salting you up, oops?

Oh man, how did I miss that?!

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 03:47 (twenty-one years ago)

okay, i'll take trayce's word for it too! don't listen to me, i think everyone should dress like me, but if everyone did dress like me then i'd despise them.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 03:52 (twenty-one years ago)

on the money. if i saw someone wearing the same shirt as me i'd have to go home and change

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 03:55 (twenty-one years ago)

i can't go home every time i see someone in a black t-shirt :-(

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 04:02 (twenty-one years ago)

that's a bit different. i wear lots and lots of patterned shirts. if someone else was wearing the same one it would be hell of obvious.

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 04:04 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, i know. despite my fear of flares i have zero interest in clothes. and it shows.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 04:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Nonsense, gaz! You are quite dashing.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 04:07 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't change my clothes - if i see someone wearing a crimplene frock i usually give em the evil eye. if they do it again i resort to namecalling. third offense warrants me breaking into their house and pissing on their clothes. Her Majesty Lucy Lurex, Queen of Crimplene is royally immature, territorial, and prone to ridiculous exxaggeration.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 04:09 (twenty-one years ago)

woo hoo!

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 04:10 (twenty-one years ago)

haha, thanks colin. but the truth:

pre whitehouse: colin and R looked at me, looked at pete, looked at each other with dismayed faces. then R threatened to put on an orange jump suit that gave her a wedgie while colin sorted out a tie with a skull on it.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 04:10 (twenty-one years ago)

haha i had my girliest pink patterned short sleeve shirt on for WH

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 04:12 (twenty-one years ago)

did you have sunglasses too?

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 04:12 (twenty-one years ago)

no, i don't own any

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 04:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I have now acquired WH sunglasses!! I'm thrilled. Now if only I could afford contact lenses...

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 04:15 (twenty-one years ago)

what brand are the frames?

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 04:15 (twenty-one years ago)

you have a red satin shirt colin?

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 04:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm trying to work out in what universe you're gangly, Jim! I mean, Nick is gangly, but I dont see you as gangly.

I'll stand by my flares! Also by my little tartan minis, which are many and legion in my wardrobe. I think I must have about 8 now, of all kinds of colours and material. Im not sure if thats sad or what.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 04:42 (twenty-one years ago)

enough about the gangly already! I TAKE IT BACK!!!

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 04:43 (twenty-one years ago)

i was ganglier once. but now i'm a bit more, er, hmmm proportioned doesn't seem quite the word..

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 04:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Heheh sorry =)

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 04:45 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 04:47 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 04:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish that goodies secret scouts episode was on my dvd i liked that one. God I ramble shit sometimes.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 04:59 (twenty-one years ago)

jim getting new boots and panties makes the nz news!

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 22:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Take them off, you coward! How long are you going to repress your natural instincts? PLEASURE is why we are hear. Come on, take off your trousers? What, are you afraid?

Sorry, I'm still in La Fura mode.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 22:20 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 22:21 (twenty-one years ago)

ooh vicar!

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 22:22 (twenty-one years ago)

did it give you the horn col?

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 22:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Several times. But I did not take my clothes off and suffer a public BJ like one member of the audience, whom I suspect may have been a stooge.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 22:24 (twenty-one years ago)

"suffer"?

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 22:29 (twenty-one years ago)

did he manage?

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 22:32 (twenty-one years ago)

No he didn't manage. They asked him if he was gay. He said he was.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 22:51 (twenty-one years ago)

bjs are overrated.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 22:51 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 22:52 (twenty-one years ago)

GOd I am so bored. Dont you hate that, when you've loads of work to do but you just dont want to do it?

I mean tech data entry is mindnumbing when you know it so well its just autopilot. I cant be arsed, even the Infected Mushroom CD on my headphones isnt helping. BLARGH ARGH.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 26 February 2004 07:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Nor can I. But sometimes the best, the most obvious ideas, are the hardest to see.

Wow I'm getting culture shock as I've just come from:

alligning people's innocent observations about music with the politics of hate; c/d?

Coming from that one to this one, the IQ points just drop off like so many unwanted pounds. I've suddenly realised we're the village idiots, and this thread is our sheltered workshop. Ned comes to play with us because he's the socially concerned local teacher.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 26 February 2004 21:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I feel for you deeply, despite your culinary habits.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 26 February 2004 21:14 (twenty-one years ago)

ned! ned! help!

need to pee pee.

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 26 February 2004 21:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Stop being gross. Australia is mostly outback, go use a bush and don't get kidnapped by the kangaroos.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 26 February 2004 21:52 (twenty-one years ago)

my son loves a good outdoor pee! we'll get home and he'll whip it out in the front garden, voni & i going "can't you use the toilet?"

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 26 February 2004 21:55 (twenty-one years ago)

he's 5

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 26 February 2004 21:59 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 26 February 2004 22:08 (twenty-one years ago)

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 26 February 2004 22:09 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 26 February 2004 22:14 (twenty-one years ago)

they like to wee everywhere

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 26 February 2004 22:27 (twenty-one years ago)

My neighbour's kid does this! Whips it out in the playground even.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 26 February 2004 22:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Now I've killed it haven't I?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 26 February 2004 22:43 (twenty-one years ago)

i used to have a mate who would often wax lyrical about "the moonlight piss". i thought ok, fair enough, until he asked me one day at a gig "did you see that bit of old lemon in the trough, yeah? did you pick it up and squeeze it on yer dick, yeah? i did."

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 26 February 2004 22:43 (twenty-one years ago)

oh lord

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 26 February 2004 22:45 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 26 February 2004 22:46 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 26 February 2004 22:49 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 26 February 2004 22:50 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 26 February 2004 22:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 26 February 2004 23:21 (twenty-one years ago)

i wouldn't mind knowing

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 26 February 2004 23:22 (twenty-one years ago)

it may have been accidental. that pub with the drag shows at once intrigues and scares the mcgillicuddy out of me

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 26 February 2004 23:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Doesnt the Greyhound have that too? Drag karaoke or sommat?

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 26 February 2004 23:27 (twenty-one years ago)

i wouldn't set foot into the greyhound (i typed 'graveyard') without being incredibly drunk and wearing a suit of armour

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 26 February 2004 23:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd like to see that.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 26 February 2004 23:31 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 26 February 2004 23:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Ive willingly been in the greyhound before! Several times! I drank and everything! I was with B, and Dom and my then-fiancee went off to play Daytona or something so these two drunk buggers came up to us and said "ello laydies, what are nice girls like you blah blah dribble", it was like being chatted up by Sid Snot in stereo.

God St Kilda is weird.

I'm not going to get drunk tonight. I'm going to clean the house, water the garden, put the little one to bed, and go to bed myself - by 9.30pm at the latest.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 27 February 2004 02:37 (twenty-one years ago)

so i see my name was mentioned here about a week ago.

dyson (dyson), Friday, 27 February 2004 02:41 (twenty-one years ago)

i have reformed. i will not eat dyson.

how was gig mole?

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 27 February 2004 02:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll eat him!

Err... hi dyson *sheepish grin*

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 27 February 2004 02:54 (twenty-one years ago)

The gig was hard work becuase of a mong sound engineer. I had mong sound engineers before, but this guy was off the dial. You'ds think it would be easy if you gave them a stereo feed from your desk, vocals and all mixed on stage, that they could just push up the volume faders, give us some foldback, and that would be fine. No. He lost one channel (never found it, never even noticed), had the foldback too loud and the FOH too quiet, and was actually not at the desk when we started playing. All the bands had probs with him - but a good night all the same, made some friends, sold some CDs.

Highlight: the last 40 secs of our set was pure noise feedback and I went all Whitehouse, pulling the 'aaaahyeeeahlovelynoise' look, which I have re3cently discovered is called the Forced Rapture Pose:

http://images.google.com.au/images?q=tbn:5_fH2bsPyOAJ:forcefedrapture.com/whlive036_copyright_Sanna_2003.jpg

Sadly I didn't have my sunnies - or, indeed, my red silk shirt. R was a star, as ever.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 27 February 2004 02:56 (twenty-one years ago)

did you open your shirt?

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 27 February 2004 03:11 (twenty-one years ago)

haha colin you obviously weren't in stoneage when (at the trade union) i mixed the entire sound check threough the foldback speakers. got it sounding great, but it was fucking hard work. and then the organiser came in, shook his head, and turned on the FOH.

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 27 February 2004 03:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahahaha no. But I was in Stoneage when they went to Nimbin. I mixed them in a hall playing to about 30 tripping hippies and their children. That was a strange one.

Er gaz, regarding the lemon squeezing incident you reported earlier - it's been playing on my mind - I was mondering if it might be more appropriate for a woman to squeeze a lemon in the fashion you described? With maybe a little sea salt? For a man, I would suggest dijon mustard? Or BBQ sauce perhaps?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 27 February 2004 03:22 (twenty-one years ago)

No Jim, I didn't open my shirt. I would've if you'd been there though.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 27 February 2004 03:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd like to apologise.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 27 February 2004 03:23 (twenty-one years ago)

did you have beer at lunch?

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 27 February 2004 03:24 (twenty-one years ago)

were you on baord for the fire breathing all percussion gig in Newtown? you sick bastard

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 27 February 2004 03:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes I was! I broke one of Gav's much loved clay pot drums I was banging away so enthusistically.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 27 February 2004 03:25 (twenty-one years ago)

did you pluck your twanger?

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 27 February 2004 03:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Pluck my twanger? Is that a guitarist thing?

No I didn't have a beer at lunch but I am delirious from lack of sleep and incipient flu. Plus R is away for a whole week from today and I'm already going crazy.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 27 February 2004 03:27 (twenty-one years ago)

haven't you seen the saucy Rainbow episode?

The English make obscene childrens television

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 27 February 2004 03:28 (twenty-one years ago)

colin i mixed that gig ;-)

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 27 February 2004 03:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah! THAT"S WHERE WE MET!!!!! How did you like my drumming then? Bad isn't it?

Jim, I've already tried to load that one at home but it's too much for my humble computer. Let me try again.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 27 February 2004 03:32 (twenty-one years ago)

no i doubt it colin. its all just a weird fantasy i have painstakingly constructed while endlessly listening to i**** & sc****** records in my tiny room.

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 27 February 2004 03:34 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 27 February 2004 03:41 (twenty-one years ago)

are we going to play with our friends' balls today?

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 27 February 2004 03:44 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm sorry i have been plucking all night and have damamged my instrument.

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 27 February 2004 03:48 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 27 February 2004 03:56 (twenty-one years ago)

dyson (dyson), Friday, 27 February 2004 04:30 (twenty-one years ago)

That reminds me of a joke.

A New Zealand farmer appears in court charged with having unnatural relations with one of his flock. The judge asks, 'Was it a male or female sheep?' The famer says, 'Female of course! What do you think I am, a bloody poof?!'

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 27 February 2004 04:32 (twenty-one years ago)

i wonder if that sheep's name is Buster

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 27 February 2004 04:33 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm now convinced i jinxed colin's gig by wishing gaz good luck for it. sorry colin. better luck with a sound engineer next time. one of my favourite local sound engineers died last night, i just found out. i didn't know him very well but he was always nice and he was a fucking talented guy. its a huge loss to dunedin. my drummers were pretty good friends of his, so i'm thinking our bands will be cancelling tonight.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 27 February 2004 05:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I dont wanna keep seeing sheeps ass every time i load up this thread *cries*

the surface noise (electricsound), Saturday, 28 February 2004 09:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah? who?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 28 February 2004 09:40 (twenty-one years ago)

the Mindrocker box set. lots of different stuff. the moving sidewalks. the great believers. a-440. the things. the bad roads..

the surface noise (electricsound), Saturday, 28 February 2004 09:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Haven't heard any of it. 'Mindrocker'... I like the sound of that.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 28 February 2004 09:46 (twenty-one years ago)

neither had i til i just put the CD on now :) some of it's fantastic, some is kinda dodgy. the song itself "mindrocker" by fenwyck is brilliant, if US psych is one's sort of thing.

the surface noise (electricsound), Saturday, 28 February 2004 10:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll have to check it out.

Jim, did you read that article about Daevid Allen of Gong in the Herald? What's Gong like? I've only heard a bit of Steve Hillage on an Orb album.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 28 February 2004 10:13 (twenty-one years ago)

i actually have no idea! is Gong prog? prog is a very very big chasm in my music knowledge.

the surface noise (electricsound), Saturday, 28 February 2004 10:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, likewise.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 28 February 2004 10:20 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 29 February 2004 05:48 (twenty-one years ago)

What is all this drink and psych talk? Which is good talk I agree.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 29 February 2004 05:49 (twenty-one years ago)

There's also punk talk, Raggett.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 29 February 2004 05:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey you're mean.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 29 February 2004 05:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry - I didn't mean to be mean.

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 29 February 2004 06:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, wasn't he a rock critic?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 29 February 2004 06:09 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 29 February 2004 06:12 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 29 February 2004 06:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Man!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 29 February 2004 06:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Heheh you guys crack me up. It's mental as... uh anyway :D

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 29 February 2004 07:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Ullo Trayce. I'm reading biography of Pepys by Claire Tomalin. English history has this gruesomely comical side that leads straight to Mony Python and Benny Hill. What are you reading?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 29 February 2004 09:58 (twenty-one years ago)

You know, despite being a writer I'm not a big reader! But I'm about halfway thru "Love in the time of Cholera" because I realised Ive had it years (the book, not cholera haha) and hadn't read it. Its really good. I just havent the patience for long stretches of reading these days. Terrible.

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 29 February 2004 10:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Not uncommon for writers not to read much, or for musicians not to listen to much.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 29 February 2004 10:22 (twenty-one years ago)

You've got to have some space in your mind, you can't be filling it up with noise all the time.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 29 February 2004 10:30 (twenty-one years ago)

'zactly. We talked about that often during my prof writing course at rmit. Can an artist (writer in my case) work in a vacuum? I say its possible. Emily Dickinson is a good example.

Then again, perhaps it is a good excuse for me being slack.

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 29 February 2004 10:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Naah look Trayce, it's like this. Good writers derive their insight mainly from experience, not books. A little reading helps keep you competitive, and may help a little with style, is all.

I always think of Wittgenstein, who was reputed to have only read one book by William James as the sum total of his training in philosophy.

I mean, what did Shakespeare read? Browning? Keats? Books were for the rich back then!

I bet Jane Austen didn't read much either. Just a guess though. I reckon what she did to train her writer's mind was have conversations. Remember them? No, nor do I.

Being slack = what other people say about those who aren't doing what they're told.

Should I be posting on the pissed thread? Hmmmm...

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 29 February 2004 10:56 (twenty-one years ago)

And yeah, Emily Dickinson of course.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 29 February 2004 10:57 (twenty-one years ago)

are any of you punk rockers?

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 29 February 2004 10:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Not me. I'm more in the mold of Malcolm McLaren. Middle class, cunning, Jewish, a bit of a prick. Why, have you got something I can use?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 29 February 2004 11:00 (twenty-one years ago)

YES. i am a fucking punk you are all fakers.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 29 February 2004 22:54 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm sunk but i'm not junk

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 29 February 2004 23:08 (twenty-one years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 29 February 2004 23:12 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 29 February 2004 23:17 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 29 February 2004 23:19 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 29 February 2004 23:44 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 29 February 2004 23:45 (twenty-one years ago)

My stomach's churning. Too much red, thenm two strong coffees this morning. Bleugh.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 29 February 2004 23:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I had multiple attacks of sleep paralysis last night. I was kinda out of body levitating and buzzing. In my sleep. I'm not making this up. This is the second time this shit's happened to me recently.

I feel like Ive had no sleep :/

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 29 February 2004 23:54 (twenty-one years ago)

two litres of pineapple juice

jims life gets more mysterious by the post

x-post: ahhhhhhh its a melbourne thing!

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 29 February 2004 23:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, aliens are among us.

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 29 February 2004 23:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I had a dream that I lived in some dark hovell with my parents at the foot of a mountain. And then we helped some guy who's ute was stuck in a rut, he told us he'd just been to sex-po and i asked him why he hadn't brought anything back for us. Then we got back to the strange village and it had been possessed by some paranormal force and we couldn't get back in and there was some kind of forcefield barring the entry. It was the strangest motherfucking dream i've ever had. Never drinking that much cheap white wine ever again!

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 29 February 2004 23:59 (twenty-one years ago)

b-b-but that sounds fantastic

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:00 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:03 (twenty-one years ago)

For your voice eh. Heh heh heh. Suuuure it was ;)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:06 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:09 (twenty-one years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Lets just say it lends its flavour even AFTER you've drank it ;)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:19 (twenty-one years ago)

uh xpost i mean pineapple not asparagus haha

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:19 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Can you guess what I dreamed? I dreamed I went to Melb and visited Trayce and Jim. It was really nice, we just hung out for the arvo.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:25 (twenty-one years ago)

make it happen Col!! maybe you could play some gigs down here

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:28 (twenty-one years ago)

pineapple juice should only be consumed in pina coladas.

today i am hellbent on taking over the world, starting with the student radio station. i am insanely happy because c4 played every janet jackson video ever made last night.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:29 (twenty-one years ago)

There were no pineapple juice shenanigans in my dream, I hasten to add.

There are a coupla gigs planned for Melb some time over the next 4 months. I'll let you know of course.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah rock on Col! :)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Ullo Di, 'Rhythm Nation' is my fave Janet.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:30 (twenty-one years ago)

'The best things in life are free' with Luther I think.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:35 (twenty-one years ago)

i still don't get the pineapple thing :-(

i am the terminally unpunk sydneysider.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:40 (twenty-one years ago)

lady if you have to ask...

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:41 (twenty-one years ago)

colin, jim is picking on me.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:43 (twenty-one years ago)

i am quitting ILE

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:44 (twenty-one years ago)

pineapple juice makes your jizz taste nice!!!

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:45 (twenty-one years ago)

(or so i've heard)

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:45 (twenty-one years ago)

and, uh, ok.

sure it was for your voice.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I think it would make a nice Valentine's Day gift for that special lady in your life.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, did Mono just fold??

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:53 (twenty-one years ago)

no, they're putting up a new updated version. you'll be able to put images in threads!!

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:54 (twenty-one years ago)

"In the meantime why not ..."

Everytime I read this my brain automatically inserts the words '...go fuck yourself' and i'm not sure why.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:56 (twenty-one years ago)

that's probably exactly what danny's thinking

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:57 (twenty-one years ago)

i predict this new mono will not be a good thing

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:58 (twenty-one years ago)

no change there, then!

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Time will tell I s'pose

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:59 (twenty-one years ago)

We never did send Danny and Peta that bottle of wine

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 1 March 2004 01:01 (twenty-one years ago)

it appears the new look mono has arrived

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 1 March 2004 01:26 (twenty-one years ago)

bad craziness

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 01:28 (twenty-one years ago)

slow loading

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 1 March 2004 01:29 (twenty-one years ago)

missing discussions sidebar! chiz

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 01:31 (twenty-one years ago)

it's all very confusing, but somehow i can't tear myself away. Something about a two hour lecture on post-colonialism isn't looking real exciting.

oh well, i guess i better go :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 1 March 2004 01:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Very very slow. It's just not punk!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 01:43 (twenty-one years ago)

tell me what it all means. what are the shells and notes? how do i post pics?

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 01:53 (twenty-one years ago)

colin, you have impeccable taste in janet. rhythm nation 1814 is my favourite janet album. "love will never do without you" is my favourite janet song. i'd quite like to cover "black cat".

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 1 March 2004 01:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Im so glad I dont bother with mono. This and LJ is enough to try and keep up with on top of work for me.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:01 (twenty-one years ago)

i only use it to bait my colleagues

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I only read it for the Mandy Kane threads.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:07 (twenty-one years ago)

i read it for the light entertainment

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:11 (twenty-one years ago)

...and to send people dirty PM's

ipsofactor, Monday, 1 March 2004 02:13 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah jim, stop it, i'm getting tired of it.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:14 (twenty-one years ago)

ohh i thought i was sending those to maree, sorry

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Send them to me jim, I'm sure I can find a good use for them.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:17 (twenty-one years ago)

you really should check that link I posted at the end of the punk thread, it's hilarious. Or depressing. Can't decide.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Speaking of Australian forums, there's now this place:

http://www.fasterlouder.com.au/

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:19 (twenty-one years ago)

haha they're goths not punks!!

fasterlouder is a little dull so far. mandy kane needs to go and spice it up

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:23 (twenty-one years ago)

fasterlouder looks horrendous

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:24 (twenty-one years ago)

i tried to post a pic on mono but it didn't work

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:25 (twenty-one years ago)

i am having trouble remembering who is who on mono. can someone give me a quick run down, personality wise, relating it to ilx.

eg
maree = gaz
who is trife? who's ally? etc etc

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:28 (twenty-one years ago)

i am electricsound. kate is ipsofacto. colin is freakishly circuitous.

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought my lecture was at 12.30pm and it's actually at 1.30pm. What am I going to do at this stupid place for the next hour?

ipsofactor, Monday, 1 March 2004 02:30 (twenty-one years ago)

soak in the coolsieness

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:31 (twenty-one years ago)

ipsofactor, Monday, 1 March 2004 02:31 (twenty-one years ago)

i know those ones jim, i mean who's like who? or are they all individuals?

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, Mandy Kane's site has had a revamp *'leave it alone colin!' choruses ILX*. Look at these photos and tell me he's not this generation's Brian Mannix:

http://www.mandykane.com/gallery.asp

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:34 (twenty-one years ago)

AAAAAAAAAARGH!

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Check especially the picture on the bottom left.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:39 (twenty-one years ago)

ahhhh ok. um, anonymous = Ned. ashtrayheart = Ally. eggs = calum

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Eggs definitely = calum

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:40 (twenty-one years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:43 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:45 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:46 (twenty-one years ago)

c'mon jim: who's name rhymes with c*nt?

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:47 (twenty-one years ago)

oh ok. who are they on ILX?

there's two other ILX/mono crossover people i know of..

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Any more of this talk and he'll come over here and *shudder* make FUN...

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:49 (twenty-one years ago)

who're they?

i think you got the wrong end of the stick with that jim, we're talking about the ilxor who hates australians ;-)

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:50 (twenty-one years ago)

(although i personally have no beef with him and think he's funny)(hi ned)

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:51 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:52 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:53 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:54 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:54 (twenty-one years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:55 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:57 (twenty-one years ago)

How do you even remember who's who? I'm astonished.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:57 (twenty-one years ago)

hahaha. sasha's alright.

i REMEMBER ALL

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I am getting sick pleasure out of watching first year students not know where they're going and how they marvel at the nice computers. Is that wrong?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:59 (twenty-one years ago)

i can't remember either of them in truth ;-)

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 02:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Im totally lost. Who hates Australians?

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 1 March 2004 03:01 (twenty-one years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 1 March 2004 03:01 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 03:16 (twenty-one years ago)

No -what limerick thread?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 03:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Are we suddenly in a Samuel Beckett play? It sure feels like it.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 03:31 (twenty-one years ago)

when you were high on vodka you gleefully announced to me that you were gonna start a limerick thread and lampoon the man who's name rhymes with...

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 03:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Did I? Hahahaha! But seriously, he's a great guy, hi Ned.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 03:41 (twenty-one years ago)

The cromulence of this thread embiggens us all.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 03:46 (twenty-one years ago)

buh?

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 03:48 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 03:52 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 04:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 1 March 2004 04:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Alles klar, frau komissar?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 04:16 (twenty-one years ago)

i hope he doesn't come after me for this

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 04:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Shall I go and get him now gaz? Or will you give me something nice?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 04:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I just had the bestest lecture ever. Our lecturer said no notes were ever to be taken in his classes, he swore profusely and said if people were tired they were to sleep at every opportunity during his lectures and they would suffer no negative consequences. I think I'm in love.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 1 March 2004 04:23 (twenty-one years ago)

thats post colonialism for you.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 04:27 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm in love with post-colonialism then

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 1 March 2004 04:28 (twenty-one years ago)

i wish that guy conducted my work meetings

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 04:38 (twenty-one years ago)

lets get him elected prime minister!

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 04:40 (twenty-one years ago)

That sounds like a good lecturer. The worst ones are the ones who dictate, or hand out summaries in bullet point.

We used to have alecturer who'd say, "What are you doing here? Get out! Go to the library and study. Lectures are a waste of time! Get out, all of you!!! Or, if you want to stay, I'll tell you some anecdotes."

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 04:41 (twenty-one years ago)

So anyway, a Kiwi officially rules Hollywood now. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 1 March 2004 06:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Arggghhh whatever is the world coming to? :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 1 March 2004 06:20 (twenty-one years ago)

No wait, that's a good thing. Isn't it?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 06:26 (twenty-one years ago)

i thought this was the thread where australians talk to new zealanders. but i am the only new zealander on it and the australians just talk to each other. :-( don't listen to me, i'm drunk.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 1 March 2004 07:42 (twenty-one years ago)

(ilx in being ilxish shocker)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 1 March 2004 07:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Hello Di

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Monday, 1 March 2004 07:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I have to have a shower, tho.

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Monday, 1 March 2004 07:48 (twenty-one years ago)

andrew!!!! my lovey love love! hows things???

(xpost)

screw you then

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 1 March 2004 07:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I finished yr tape! It has like TWENTYNINE songs on it! It's on Art of the Mix if you want to spoil the surprise. Sadly tho the last 10-15 seconds of the last song got cut off, but it was just going to yell one more time, play the riff and stop. Hope that's ok cos otherwise I think it looks great.

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Monday, 1 March 2004 07:53 (twenty-one years ago)

i mean this wouldn't be a problem if i was interested in anyone other than myself. this guy just got me drunk on his bar tab. i had several beers, wines, and a cocktail called "cherry bomb" which i got cos joan jett told me to. i let the guy talk at me about hinduism for ages. christ. the things i'll do for booze.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 1 March 2004 07:55 (twenty-one years ago)

andrew! thanks! i am not going to look up artofthemix cos i love surprises, and don't worry, i'm sure i've let songs cut off on mixtapes before *gasp* *gasp again* *off with her head*

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 1 March 2004 07:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahaha every tape you've done me has cutoffs! I don't care, it's I think a lot more annoying for ME making the tape then whoever gets it. The King Crimson track kicks so much ASS, man.

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Monday, 1 March 2004 08:00 (twenty-one years ago)

god i'm the worst mixtaper ever. yay you always tape me great stuff by king crimson, oh god, washing dishes in my new flat to this is gonna sooooo exciting.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 1 March 2004 08:02 (twenty-one years ago)

You really really need "Starless and Bible Black", dude. It's around here for like $15 if you ever want me to get it for you. And now it's SLIME TIME

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Monday, 1 March 2004 08:04 (twenty-one years ago)

is that what brian crook named his band after? bible black i mean? and yeah please i would like a copy, can you keep one aside for me for a few weeks?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 1 March 2004 08:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi Di!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 08:30 (twenty-one years ago)

hi Di! sorry, did i ignore you? i'll dig out black cat and turn it UP in yr honour.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 08:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I've been a littlw intimidated by you Di, since you creamed me in the dance-off with your collection of 45s. Not that I'm excusing myself or anything.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 08:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I dunno really but I'd be surprised if that wasn't at least part of the reason for his band's name. Well FIRST I should check if it's in RG/how much it is, if it's more than $16 you should wait, it'll go down. 'Red' is GREAT too (tho I like 'Starless' a bit more) but that's always pretty pricey up here. Anyway I'll be there in next couple of days I'm sure (WOO UNIVERSITY) and I'll have a look. I'll try and send yr tape tomorrow/next day (which is when WIRE are playing, go WIRE go)

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Monday, 1 March 2004 09:29 (twenty-one years ago)

hey di, what were yr favourite janet videos? my predictable answers - "rhythm nation", "scream", & the one with the sailors. & the justin special was pretty great, even if they missed out some n*sync videos.

WIRE WIRE WIRE. fingers x'd that the oldskool encore will be map ref, etc.

this is the first night in the past um eleven days I haven't been drinking!
(& the first @ cybergates, heh)

etc, Monday, 1 March 2004 11:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd rather have "The 15th" but I'll be perfectly happy w/the new stuff anyway. NOW THE FALL SHOULD PLAY HERE please.

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Monday, 1 March 2004 11:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Go buy a sixpack you pussy

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Monday, 1 March 2004 11:13 (twenty-one years ago)

learning from the master, woo.

hey will you come to kiss+make up when I DJ? i'm looking for the perfect Fall track to play, hence the thread-ah.

btw dunedin ppl, any shows/stuff coming up? m4rcel is back in dunedin & i'm gonna nag him to go to stuff.

etc., Monday, 1 March 2004 11:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I guess probably, I mean I'd like to but depends on stuff, Thursday's a terrible night. I'm no MASTER, don't listen to Petra! Play ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm "15 Ways"

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Monday, 1 March 2004 11:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Cos no-one's heard it, Aucklanders are stupid. Unless Bywater turns up, of course.

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Monday, 1 March 2004 11:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually no play 'Service' sometime midset, no-one'll know it's the Fall! HAHA!

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Monday, 1 March 2004 11:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Jesus suddenly I sound like Doomie

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Monday, 1 March 2004 11:39 (twenty-one years ago)

My suggestion for the Fall track to play is REPITITION!
REPITION REPITION REPITION! Chairman Mao dug repition! oh god it's so good. Psychick Dancehall also. Bingo Masters break out>

I am a NZr and also the offspring of an aussie (well Tassie) and there are things on this thread I am very condused by!
For instance, what/who are "into"s?????? Also I don't get that thing about someone squeezing a lemon over his dick? is that a metaphor???

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Monday, 1 March 2004 12:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I spelled repetition wrong 5 times; 4 times really badly.

Also in terms of weird Australian subcultures, what about all that stuff to do with fans of those bands, Sherbert, and something else that I think also started with S.
Were there many Brosettes in Australia?

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Monday, 1 March 2004 13:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Nobody should be intimidated by Di, who is ultrasweet and cool! :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 1 March 2004 13:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, is this thread suddenly full of New Zealanders at last? It seems so.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 20:24 (twenty-one years ago)

cuspidorian: intos is westie speak for intellectuals.

tell me about sherbert!

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 1 March 2004 21:24 (twenty-one years ago)

"starless & bible black" is from dylan thomas's "under milk wood"

, Monday, 1 March 2004 21:58 (twenty-one years ago)

why are you guys so excited about wire?! i bet they;ll suck!

, Monday, 1 March 2004 22:01 (twenty-one years ago)

nah man they've gone INDUSTRIAL ROCK like filter! k-rad!
also everyone loves old guys rocking out, geez!

i am also the offspring of a tasmanian wot moved to NZ.

ps spectradorian i'm not playing early boring* fall! too much guitars & too rockabilly!

also andrew if yr around uni, stop by the bookstore/my flat &c; girl i'll (micro)house u.

*ok not boring but not what I'm digging or like what I'll be playing (except maybe "The Classical" but um I wouldn't have the chance to frame/contextualise it & blah blah DANGER DANGER)

etc, Monday, 1 March 2004 23:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Didnt the Fall play NZ last time they toured here?

Here's a thing: I love the Fall, right, but then I saw them live at the Uni Bar in Canberra and they SUCKED. But that was more because MES is a cock.

Wire would probably be great. esp if they do play shit like mapref and the 15th :D But... I havent yet bought a ticket, and the Melb show is this Sunday night... I wasnt going to go cos Earthcore was the next day (Infected Mushroom!) but now I'm not going to that, so hmm..

Prob #2 is I cant drink for A WHOLE WEEK AND MAYBE TWO WEEKS because I am on some fuct up medicaton that apparently will make me vomit violently if I so much as look sideways at any alcohol (inc coff medicine). Yowsers.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 1 March 2004 23:54 (twenty-one years ago)

wire won't be playing old stuff

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 23:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Infected Mushroom worth checking out Trayce? Which CD have you been listening to?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 23:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Jim: wont they? Urrr I dont even have the new rekkid yet. Sod it, maybe I'll pass. Youre not going are you?

Col: theyre fantastic if you like psytrance. Very twiddly diddly zooming along lots of arpeggios and wotnot, Id LOVE to have a bikkie dance to them, but the earthcore show is a daytime one at the Music Bowl in the city and IM are on at 6.30 in the evening (!) which is just silly, as it'll still be daylight.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 1 March 2004 23:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I have 3 CDs of theirs btw, all good: Classical Mushroom, BP Empire and Converting Vegetarians.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 1 March 2004 23:57 (twenty-one years ago)

nar i'm giving wire a miss because (a) no old stuff and (b) i can't be arsed with 'arty' melbourne crowds

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:03 (twenty-one years ago)

what other crowds could you possibly have in culture central then?

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:08 (twenty-one years ago)

the ones that aren't at the shows of touring acts

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Classical Mushroom, BP Empire and Converting Vegetarians.

Converting vegetarians! I love it. Which of the three is a good one to begin with?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Great name innit? It has a brain on a fishhook on the cover art :D

Hmm... I heard BP Empire first, either it or Classical Mushroom would be a fine start I'd say.

They're Israeli you know. Apparently theres a huge rave scene in Israel. I find this intriguing.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:20 (twenty-one years ago)

that israeli interesting

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes Isreal is big for psytrance. According to one Israeli I asked, it's partly due to all these youngsters leaving Israel after their military service to escape from it all - they end up in Goa, Nepal and Byron Bay, 'nuff said.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:23 (twenty-one years ago)

*thwaps Jim*

I have to say, if I had to do servos militarios in feckin ISRAEL I'd want to run away screaming and take loads of drugs afterwards, also.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:25 (twenty-one years ago)

did anyone see that dateline thing about modern arabic rap in israel with these jewish homegirls saying how the arabs were keeping it real?

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Keeping isreal. *thwap*

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:36 (twenty-one years ago)

now i moscow

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:37 (twenty-one years ago)

play "telephone thing" then s, if you know that one!
Hey was your pa frm launceston also? (I think so but I might remembered wrong).

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:48 (twenty-one years ago)

is telephone thing the coldcut one?

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:49 (twenty-one years ago)

yep!

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:50 (twenty-one years ago)

How shit is NZ? Awful weather, flooded to fuck in the middle of summer, boring people, conservative farming bastards, horrible accents and verbal mannerisms (Oh, okay. Eh? Yep, yep), 1000s of miles from anywhere, full of Christians, bland, watered down Englishness. At least Kiwis aren't as ugly as Aussies.

Charles Dexter (Holey), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:50 (twenty-one years ago)

God "Telephone thing" I had totally forgotten abt that song, it rocked.

While on the Fall - what in the name of all that is good and Nedlike is the vid for "Cruisers Creek" all about?

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:51 (twenty-one years ago)

fuck off charles

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:52 (twenty-one years ago)

;-)

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:53 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah charles go back to defending hitler

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:53 (twenty-one years ago)

hi everyone! have fun at wire if you're going! ess-kay my favourite janet clips were "nasty" and "rhythm nation". going by the video clip, she should retitle "nasty" as "nancy". also tell marcel that space dust are playing this weekend and he should go to that.

hahaha all i had to do to get new zealanders to post here was throw a tantrum.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 01:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Now you must herd them into a flock, Ms Lurex.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 01:26 (twenty-one years ago)

i will need a dog for this. who will get in behind?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 01:36 (twenty-one years ago)

You need one of the mongrel Australians.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 01:39 (twenty-one years ago)

woof!

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 01:43 (twenty-one years ago)

our band is covering "telephone thing", nosy matron thiiing! & yeah, he's from launceston.

etc, Tuesday, 2 March 2004 02:19 (twenty-one years ago)

have you people gone to bed or something¿ don't tell me you have jkobs¿ i guess so, it's, like, 4 in the avro there.

i've noticed the same thing here with the israelis and trance. i never meet them at any other shows. only trance.
also: i saw this mushroom infection® mentioned upthread about a month or two ago. i saw them a month or rtwo ago that is to say.
they wree good for trance. that i snot saying much. i have many friends that like that stuff and i can't hang out with them anymroe. those israeli parties are just so repetitive.

dyson (dyson), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 05:58 (twenty-one years ago)

You don't like repetition?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 05:59 (twenty-one years ago)

i didonce

dyson (dyson), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 06:02 (twenty-one years ago)

hahahahahhhahahahahahhahaha.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 07:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey is someone able to tell me what the Jackson vid clip is where she's going around dancing (no!) with all these gay sailor man dancers around... I really like that song but I can't remember enough of the words to look up what it is.
Oh and c4 "every video ever made" they WAY didn't play every U2 one so it's a lie!

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 08:48 (twenty-one years ago)

they didn't play every janet one either. i don't remember seeing "if i was your girl" or "alright" or "escapade" - though conceivably i could have missed them.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 08:52 (twenty-one years ago)

i missed that gay sailor video too. her early videos had an awful lot of gay-seeming male dancers. people have studied that to death in madonna and kylie videos but it seems to have been overlooked in janet.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 08:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah lots of stuff re Janet seems like that; would've thought she'd be a lot more interesting myself!

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 09:03 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe people are happy to ignore stuff to keep the illusion of a normal jackson? that nipple star thing has made me reassess. isn't the velvet rope pretty tawdry?

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 09:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, like, overproduced or a bit safe or overcompressed or something?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 09:21 (twenty-one years ago)

they played "alright" & "escapade"; um can't remember what the sailor video was! i'll ask k4tija.

etc, Tuesday, 2 March 2004 10:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Play "Like to Blow"

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 11:37 (twenty-one years ago)

No really, it's not that easily danceable (I GUESS, THO FRANKLY ETC) but y'know it's like 1 1/2 minutes long and he goes SUCKA SUCKA SUCKA I LIKE TO BLOW! Or something easily mistaken like that

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 14:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyway S see you at WIRRRRRRRE tomorrow

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 14:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I feel SO SICK today. I might go home early. Either I have the flu or this medicine is disagreeing with me. Feel horrible.

*dies on desk*

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 00:13 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 00:24 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 00:29 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 00:32 (twenty-one years ago)

That israeli interesting.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 00:37 (twenty-one years ago)

they're touring usa aren't they? that guy from aluminium group said they were all sleeping on his couch...

chandos is a budget classical label.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 00:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 02:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Only if it can be Rooty Hill RSL!

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 02:56 (twenty-one years ago)

are you feeling better Trayce?!!?

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 02:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Does it need to be given a more international title? Like:

He Got Game: Clothes You Need Chutzpah to Wear to a Redneck Bar

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 02:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Better? Nah. Im starting mindlessly at my screen doing very little work. Im too tired to concentrate. Im wondering wtf is wrong with me.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 02:59 (twenty-one years ago)

no no no. rooty hill!

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 02:59 (twenty-one years ago)

This reminds me of that TISM song that goes "Ive been to Young and Jacksons with my makeup on".

Only then they did the bar up and now the song makes less sense. Especially now metrosexuals exist.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 03:01 (twenty-one years ago)

OK it's up, and lo, the day becuomes fun again

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 03:05 (twenty-one years ago)

well i never. have you ever been to marrickville rsl col? its billed as sydneys las vegas. they have a model race track which model horses run around and people bet on them. you have never, in all your life, seen so many coloured lights.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 03:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I've walked past it Gaz - and I have noticed there's a lot of Vegas lights sparekiling inside. We must go, we must go.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 03:20 (twenty-one years ago)

sparekiling? What's the matter with me??

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 03:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I am overawed at young Ned on the submarine. SO CUTE :D

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 05:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw thank you. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 05:23 (twenty-one years ago)

according to this week's street press, tugboat are "internationally acclaimed". i can only assume they mean new zealand. or possibly tasmania.

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 4 March 2004 01:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Perhaps they mean that tugboats are internationally acclaimed - after all, they do a great job guiding container ships.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 4 March 2004 01:30 (twenty-one years ago)

true, true..

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 4 March 2004 01:31 (twenty-one years ago)

But then again, your band probably does a great job entertaining those same container ships...so...

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 4 March 2004 01:33 (twenty-one years ago)

sailors love the tuggers

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 4 March 2004 01:34 (twenty-one years ago)

There might be people from Tel Aviv who reckon Tugboat israeli good...

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 4 March 2004 01:35 (twenty-one years ago)

iraq'n you could be right

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 4 March 2004 01:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I was watching your band and shouted 'Tugboat ROCKS!!!!' and caused a minor panic in the steering room.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 4 March 2004 01:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh COME on!!! It wasn't that bad.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 4 March 2004 01:43 (twenty-one years ago)

it raised a dry smile!

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 4 March 2004 01:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Should I have a cup of tea? I can't decide.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 4 March 2004 01:45 (twenty-one years ago)

have some mineral water

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 4 March 2004 01:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Paaah! Mbbrbrggh!!

Guess where I was last night, in my dreams? At a Judas Priest concert!! Sadly, though, I was a low level flunky in their touring party. My job was to keep a handle on paperwork and small packages. I spent all night taping up carboard boxes and ticking invoices for Judas f***ing Priest. Thanks guys.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 4 March 2004 01:52 (twenty-one years ago)

heh heh - "keep a handle" on "small packages" for "judas priest"¡
har har har¡

i'm sorry - i don't even have alcohol as an excuse this time.

dyson (dyson), Thursday, 4 March 2004 03:22 (twenty-one years ago)

it's ok, colin's used to handling small packages

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 4 March 2004 03:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I dreamt I was having afternoon tea with Bruce Boxleitner, and he said he knew Tep. I have weird dreams.

Not to mention taping them up and stamping them.

I dreamt I was having afternoon tea with Bruce Boxleitner, and he said he knew Tep. I have weird dreams.

Who's he?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 4 March 2004 03:41 (twenty-one years ago)

DAAAAAY OFF! i took the boy to storytime at the library. we made finger puppets. the "crazy" (ie i'm mad me!) librarian gave all the kids a cup of red frogs = instant insanity. dylan fielded a pencil in the head. i had to sing. in about half an hour we are dressing up as pirates and going to see the magic schoolbus.

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 4 March 2004 05:25 (twenty-one years ago)

..and then Momus arrived?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 4 March 2004 05:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Bruce Boxleitner = Captain John Sheridan on Babylon 5. Nerd show.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 4 March 2004 05:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Aha, thanks Trayce. At least it proves I am not a nerd. Possibly.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 4 March 2004 05:50 (twenty-one years ago)

o man. my adventures with the botched and bungled. ms frizzle looked like ronald mcdonald. dylan was quaking with excitement when a large green fluffy turtle approached him to shake his hand. momus stayed on the bus, bandana pulled tight.

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 4 March 2004 07:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Sounds like you had a better day than I did.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 4 March 2004 08:44 (twenty-one years ago)

why was your day bad colin?

power was lost to the trams on the st kilda light rail last night, i had to walk home from work in the heat. took nearly an hour. melbourne can eat my fuc, especially those going to the grand pricks

good morning sunshine

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 00:33 (twenty-one years ago)

morning. It was just too much work jim.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 5 March 2004 00:36 (twenty-one years ago)

We've fallen in with a bunch of young electro goths who are offering us some support gigs. And also some girl-in-band girls who are keep to get rocking girl bands into the clubs and pubs. So we're taking our band into unchartered territory (ie, far away from the gay amd kinky s*x clubs we usually play at). It's exciting.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 5 March 2004 00:39 (twenty-one years ago)

ooh that is exciting. i sometimes wish i played music that would fit in at kinky sex clubs

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 00:40 (twenty-one years ago)

man i am looking forward to that Dissociatives record. i'm betting its gonna nail colins desire for rock'n'techno

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 5 March 2004 00:42 (twenty-one years ago)

it's an appropriate bandname, considering how far from reality the two of them must have been to remotely believe a collaboration was a good idea

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 00:44 (twenty-one years ago)

sorry, the new rolling stone arrived. apparently its no side project. silverchair no more

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 5 March 2004 00:45 (twenty-one years ago)

god help us. they're like fischerspooner with the pretention turned up 1000000000x

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 00:48 (twenty-one years ago)

hows the record going jim?

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 5 March 2004 00:50 (twenty-one years ago)

remaining tasks: vocals for 12 of the tracks, percussion, and our guests (strings, horns, double bass)

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 00:51 (twenty-one years ago)

and then mixing (which will probably take a year)

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 00:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Oooh, you're going a bit folky then?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 5 March 2004 00:51 (twenty-one years ago)

nah, going for a glossy early 80s pop vibe, with a twist

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 00:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh boy, I know someone who will want to hear that as he's doing the same thing.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 5 March 2004 00:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Message from my friend to you, Jim, after I sent the last few posts on this thread:

"tell him about us- tell him were late 80's brit pop with a hint of west coast. Tell him we are your strategic love child
tell him were in rehearsal with kickass pro line uip and will appear live in two months"

I'm not sure who the 'your' refers to - I hope it doesn't refer to me...

His band have just recorded an album. It's very 80's glossy pop with a twist.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 5 March 2004 01:05 (twenty-one years ago)

kickass pro lineup?! crikey!

80s glossy pop with a twist is the next big thing, mark my words

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 01:14 (twenty-one years ago)

whats the twist?

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 5 March 2004 01:16 (twenty-one years ago)

my unglossy voice and our unglossy playing skills

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 01:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Aha, that would give it a modern Pavementy indie twist.

With my friend's band, the twist is combining 80's Britpop songwriting with 70's West Coast production.

With me, the twist is what I playfully give mullygrubber when he least expects it. His voice goes up two octaves and I say, "Be Rob Halford for me, you bastard, you leather rebel!!!"

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 5 March 2004 02:51 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 03:15 (twenty-one years ago)

perfect.

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 5 March 2004 03:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, that is perfect.

Question: why, in dress-up groups, is the drummer always the caveman, the keyboard player always the mad scientist, the guitarist always the demon, and the singer always the voodoo shaman?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 5 March 2004 03:23 (twenty-one years ago)

does mandy kane fit into the formula?

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 03:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmmm, not - maybe that's the problem?

I've thought of another good name for our imaginary band, jim:

Camper Van Whitehouse

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 5 March 2004 04:03 (twenty-one years ago)

haha that's quite clever

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 04:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, it israeli good. Although I can't really imagine anything more camp than Whitehouse.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 5 March 2004 04:28 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 05:28 (twenty-one years ago)

All in all, Gallo put more effort into this production package than the whiny Wes Anderson, the sputtering Spike Jonze, the un-darling Darren Aronofsky have put into their whole lives.

classic.

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 05:29 (twenty-one years ago)
