let us decide the Saturday next month upon which this glorious event would be best occurrin'

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 13:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll check with the boy when we're due to go party, which is the reason we're going to Brighton in the first place!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 13:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Also, need to see when Archel is free!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 13:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't much fancy the 7th, as that is the week I have my surgery - but then again I am dating these days so Saturdays might not be on anyway.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 15:50 (twenty-one years ago)

i was thinking a Sunday might be better myself

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 16:01 (twenty-one years ago)

martin, you wouldn't skip a date for a road-trip FAP?

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 16:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Saturday is a much better day for it for so many reasons.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 16:04 (twenty-one years ago)

sorry Matt i forgot that Sunday is your Heaven And Earth Show-Songs Of Praise marathon

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 16:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't forget Sunday Homes & Gardens with Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 16:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Sunday H&G makes it worth getting out of bed on a Sunday. But only to turn the telly on and get back into bed again

robster (robster), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 16:20 (twenty-one years ago)

the remote sleeps on my bed, like a tiny silicon kitten

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 16:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Colette, my new girlfriend works all sorts of odd hours so there aren't so many good opportunities to go out, including at weekends. So I'm not sure that I would.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 18:27 (twenty-one years ago)

surely it's a train-trip not a road-trip btw

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 18:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Unless anyone has a car and can drive? That last train is stupidly early. I've missed it way too many a time.

Whatever happened about having a Get-Colette-Out-Of-The-House FAP on 8th March?

The River Kate (kate), Thursday, 26 February 2004 10:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey make the road trip Brighton FAP coincide with this gig at Brighton Pressurepoint in which I'll be tickling the ivories : http://www.fractured.info/

Dr. C (Dr. C), Thursday, 26 February 2004 11:17 (twenty-one years ago)

three weeks pass...
whoops, how about May then?

stevem (blueski), Monday, 22 March 2004 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Stevem is the FAP king! Don't you have a life or something? :-P

The River Kate (kate), Monday, 22 March 2004 13:43 (twenty-one years ago)

choose ILX...

stevem (blueski), Monday, 22 March 2004 13:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I am entertaining The Other Lot on 3 April but most weekends after that in April/May are looking pretty free.

Archel (Archel), Monday, 22 March 2004 14:10 (twenty-one years ago)

i can do april weekends after the 18th, and then anytime in may except the bank holiday weekends. (no firm plans, but my birthday is the 25th, and i might want to go away or something)

how about 8 may?

colette (a2lette), Monday, 22 March 2004 14:17 (twenty-one years ago)

sounds good

stevem (blueski), Monday, 22 March 2004 14:18 (twenty-one years ago)

That seems okay for me. Is this going to be like one of those weeks in Eastenders when they all go away for a week and general chaos ensues?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 22 March 2004 14:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Someone will be pushed off the pier, two people will engage in illicit heavy petting on the ghost train, at least one person will vomit in the street, and someone will lose all their money at roulette (or possibly on fruit machines.)

Archel (Archel), Monday, 22 March 2004 14:27 (twenty-one years ago)

If my FAP record is anything to go by I will be all those people.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 22 March 2004 14:29 (twenty-one years ago)

i'll go on the Pier mini-rollercoaster finally!

stevem (blueski), Monday, 22 March 2004 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

for planning purposes, is this a day trip? or are we all staying somewhere?

god, i feel that whole summer camp vibe again...

colette (a2lette), Monday, 22 March 2004 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

we'll be in Florida, we'll think of you all, oh yes.....

chris (chris), Monday, 22 March 2004 14:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Does Vicky know you will be thinking of us Chris?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 22 March 2004 14:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Thinking of Matt heavy-petting himself on the ghost train?

(NB. noone is coming back to mine. Sorry.)

Archel (Archel), Monday, 22 March 2004 14:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Florida, where the hurricanes are! (but let's hope not eh)

this is a day-trip tho i will be tempted to stick it out until the wee small hours if i manage to hook up with my indie-gazing comrades down there

stevem (blueski), Monday, 22 March 2004 14:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Arrgh ghosts of Brighton Sinister picnics loom. Sitting on the beach necking the cheapest red wine imaginable at a rate of knots in order to stave off the February chill. Archel's flat imbued with indie stench after a late night on the vodka. Gay lard for breakfast on the seafront. Ahhhhh.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 22 March 2004 14:40 (twenty-one years ago)

sorry, I forgot my slash sarcasm tag

Hurricane season is June to September, mainly August

chris (chris), Monday, 22 March 2004 14:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm gonna say "Sure!" but just watch HSA schedule an opening or something that weekend...

Psycho Kate (kate), Monday, 22 March 2004 14:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Gay lard?

goes well with Camp Pie?

stevem (blueski), Monday, 22 March 2004 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh those days are not over Liz, not by a long chalk. (Well, my flat might not be involved any more. She said hopefully.)

Archel (Archel), Monday, 22 March 2004 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

But will there be Satan's jizz floating on the sea this time eh Arch?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 22 March 2004 14:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not sure I want to come to this any more...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 22 March 2004 14:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I would love to say yes for definite, but we're due to go a record shop launch at some point next month, so that will govern when we are going to brighton. (Archel-if it doesn't coincide with the ilx trip wanna do lunch?)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 22 March 2004 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Gay lard = fry-up cooked, purchased and consumed on the premises of the cafe called Buddies. It has a subtle man-on-man action sign/logo thing. Kind of like the Chicken Cottage one, for North London filth fans.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 22 March 2004 14:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Cambridge FAP needs organising too really

stevem (blueski), Monday, 22 March 2004 14:51 (twenty-one years ago)

INDEED!

Psycho Kate (kate), Monday, 22 March 2004 14:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes I would like to do lunch if you can't FAP Pinxor! (Perhaps I won't take you to Gay Lard though eh?)

Archel (Archel), Monday, 22 March 2004 15:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Ohh definitely! Gay lard, hmmm, well I am tempted.....

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 22 March 2004 15:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll spare a thought for you all too, as we amble up the Keys in our convertible.... :0)

Vicky (Vicky), Monday, 22 March 2004 15:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Grrrrr!! *shakes fist at Vicky (but in a twee way obviously)*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 22 March 2004 15:39 (twenty-one years ago)

we'll be wearing our new trainers we got for cheap too :o)

chris (chris), Monday, 22 March 2004 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Arrrghh, you have just killed any spirit I had left in me Chris! :-(

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 22 March 2004 16:10 (twenty-one years ago)

one month passes...
Hey, look what I found. The 8th of May (to be sung to the tune of 'Ace of Spades' by the rock group Motörhead) approaches!

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 29 April 2004 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

meeting at Victoria around 11 good for people?

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 29 April 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

This sounds a good idea to me right now. Is it okay if I come along?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 29 April 2004 16:25 (twenty-one years ago)

so is this still happening? what's the plan?

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 08:15 (twenty-one years ago)

We'll be heading over to Brighton from Portsmouth, so will see you all there, I guess. Have fun on the shiny train from Victoria while we're on the comedy coastal service.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 09:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll be around of course, but am sans mobile phone so actually meeting people may be... challenging.

Do you need pub suggestions?

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 09:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think I can come to this any more - I'll see how things work out but the weekend is filling up very quickly indeed. I might head down to Brighton with you guys during the day but go back to London in the early evening...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 09:18 (twenty-one years ago)

i recommend the providence. i once went there

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 09:18 (twenty-one years ago)

and back again

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 09:19 (twenty-one years ago)

you should have seen the state that i was in

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 09:19 (twenty-one years ago)

The one in Rhode Island?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 09:19 (twenty-one years ago)

So many levels.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 09:19 (twenty-one years ago)

downstairs only had toilets

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 09:20 (twenty-one years ago)

The Evening Star is the best place for ale-related pleasure and is v near the train station, but tiny. The George is big, has nice veggie food and is also near the station.

There is also a large beach, of course.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 09:25 (twenty-one years ago)

although it might be a really dumb question, how long will all this last? i'm imagining a day out and then catching a train back home at some point in the evening so i can sleep in my very own bed.

does this work with other people's ideas of fun?

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 10:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, to be honest, I've got a party in East London to go to on Saturday night, so I'd be perfectly happy with a day out wandering and then heading back up to London at about seven or eight.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 10:52 (twenty-one years ago)

and the last train leaves at like almost midnight so it should be easy to get home even if it gets slightly late. esp if we end up somewhere near the train station.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 11:10 (twenty-one years ago)

This is this saturday isn't it? I might come along. I wanna see the sea. I'm trying to force my boss to give me a day off.

alix (alix), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 11:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I am torn between this and tennis for this Saturday (if I feel up to either), but it sounds as if a few tennis types might be considering Brighton anyway.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 11:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I have a friend in from Toronto who is going to Brighton on Friday/Saturday and wants me to come at some point! Maybe we should skip the tennis this week? I've never been to Brighton and really want to go...

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 13:04 (twenty-one years ago)

i think the weather is going to be crap for tennis.

i think brighton sounds fun, hopefully it'll still be fun if it's raining. i'll find my wellies.

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 13:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Saturday may be the only sunny day this fortnight, according to some weather reports. Do you think the best thing is to convene on the beach or go straight to a pub? I know most of you will be together already but I will be alone and mobile-less probably, so some prior plan would be lovely...

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 14:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Beach if good weather, but we need a pub meeting point too as a rain backup.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Victoria at 11 then
once in Brighton i suggest we head for The Fishbowl which is very close to the beach and if memory serves well is a nice place and good for meeting the locals (Archel and co) - it's about 10-15 mins walk from the station but that will be a pleasant amble thru the Lanes unless you're all gagging for a drink in which case we can stop at a pub nearer the station on the way (there are loads)

no plans for saturday night yet so not fussed when to head back to london, play by ear i reckon

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 01:14 (twenty-one years ago)

So what time should you chaps be at the Fishy place?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 08:33 (twenty-one years ago)

BY 1pm but hopefully earlier

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 08:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Cracking. I may bring scones if I can be arsed struggling with the woefully inadequate equipment in the boy's kitchen.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 09:01 (twenty-one years ago)

So much bitterness - just cos you had to grate cheese with yr fingernails the last time.

robster (robster), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 09:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll grate YOU when I catch you, sunny jim.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 09:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't we spell it 'grebt' here?

robster (robster), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 09:06 (twenty-one years ago)

cheese is great, i missed medium cheddar while away

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 09:22 (twenty-one years ago)

So I'd been gleefully ignoring this thread up til now due to it quite obviously saying MARCH in the title...how wrong can a boy be?

Maybe I can actually make this Saturday. Also, I have a Network Card thingy, which I believe allows up to four people to travel on the train at 2/3 of (as opposed to 2/3 off, which would obviously be much better) the full price, so if anybody'd like to pretend they know me slightly better than they do and take advantage of this rather odd special offer, feel free.

And another thing - should I bring this?

http://www.docancun.com/images/ci_musicooler_40.jpg

(yes, it's a cooler bag with fully functioning speakers. and no, it doesn't come complete with food...)

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 09:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Only if it's sunny and you can be arsed, like.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 09:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Charlie you know how we've been friends for a long time now and care for each other a lot...

(surrender your cooler bag)

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 09:27 (twenty-one years ago)

"They can take away our Musicoolers (yes, that's actually what it's called, quite brilliantly) but they'll never take our FREEDOM!!!"

er, and no I shan't. ner.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 09:54 (twenty-one years ago)

bagsy the second of the 4 discount spots with charlie!

steve, are you back? we missed you! (i mean i *still* can't believe you went to chicago without me, you bastard...)

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 09:56 (twenty-one years ago)

To be fair, you went to Chicago without him first ;)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 09:56 (twenty-one years ago)

i have returned, alive and pissed off

and yes please can i have a discount ticket is what i meant senor quatro

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 09:59 (twenty-one years ago)

i also made my plans first...which he blatantly disregarded.

why are you pissed off?

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 10:10 (twenty-one years ago)

it's a shame we were not in sync, but i thought of you as the Amtrak passed sort of quite near to Kazoolamas

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 10:14 (twenty-one years ago)

is that a euphemism stevem?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 10:19 (twenty-one years ago)

i would have guessed you went right through kzoo, actually. or did you go through the dirty ohio instead?

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 10:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Since the pub is a backup plan if the weather is horrible, I'm not sure choosing one that is a pleasant fifteen minute amble is a perfect idea. Are we still thinking meeting at Victoria at 11? Do we know a particular train we are aiming for?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Hello! I like being nosey and reading FAP threads when I've got no chance of attending (boo). I thought I'd mention that I've used an annual travelcard to get a third off for four people before, so if anyone's got one of those you could save even more cash.

Thrifty Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Or you could all get the MEGABUS. Although it did take me 5 hours to get home from London last time I took that option...

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

This is the Megabus according to Google. Not far from the truth.
http://www5a.biglobe.ne.jp/~blkids/jpg/megabus.jpg

robster (robster), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:22 (twenty-one years ago)

what is the megabus? do they pipe megadeath through the sound system?

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I must stress - do NOT take the Megabus if you're in anything approaching a hurry, or if you're expecting a seat that doean't leave you with piles and bruises right down to the backs of your knees.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:30 (twenty-one years ago)

tell me what the megabus is! otherwise, my obstinate self will just take it because people wouldn't tell me what it is and said not to do it.

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it like the VengaBus?

Super-Kate (kate), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it the same as the £1 megabus between Glasgow and Edinburgh?

Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:37 (twenty-one years ago)

wow! the venga bus!

wait, is pinkpanther coming? she's not really online this week, right? does she remember this is happening?

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Megabus takes you places for cheap. I think it is yellow. Has anyone used it to go to oxford with? i think i need to visit. I can't come to brighton though, unless i call in sick at work. Shall i or shant i? Nb, I have never phoned in sick before without being sick. I cannot lie. But, yet, i am tempted. COuld someone make my mind up for me please?

alix (alix), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:41 (twenty-one years ago)

My phone-in-sick rules:

1) never on a Friday or Monday
2) never if your request to take the day off has been refused

Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Lie, Lixi, lie!

Lixi's shoulder devil :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:44 (twenty-one years ago)

ain't gettin on no megabus foo

the pub isn't a backup plan as such, it's an easier place to meet Archel and co. than a big ol' beach. well i think so anyway. we can head for the beach/pier after a drink or two in any case, rain or no rain (i'm not going down to Brighton to NOT go on the beach even if it is pissing down which it almost certainly will be) - also there may well be karaoke in the crap bar on the pier, and after the NYC experience i am totally up for that i must say

i would look on Network Rail website to find exact time of train but can't be arsed right now - feel free to do this tho

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:45 (twenty-one years ago)

alix if you want you can come round to my house the night before and i can give you the lurgy. this is not a euphemism. if i wanted to do that i would choose a more appealing metaphor innit. or you should just ring in sick without actually feeling sick but then your risk is arguably just as great, unbearable guilt or fun-suppressing catarrh? the decision is yours...

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:48 (twenty-one years ago)

karaoke!

lixi, you so want to call in sick. they won't do anything to you. try to think of something that is a little true, so you aren't telling a total lie. like, go out drinking on friday, ring on saturday and say you have a headache and can't come in.

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:49 (twenty-one years ago)

actually i am not ill (this American Claritin is le bombe) so don't panic fellow travellers

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:49 (twenty-one years ago)

http://bitchcakes.topcities.com/garethfap/phoneconfusion.jpg

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:50 (twenty-one years ago)

A headache is a rub excuse - you need to come down with imaginary food poisoning or something that will keep you well away from food.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Nb - I spent about ten minutes on Saturday trying to convince Lixi to throw a sickie the following day. BrightonFAP proves she was wise not to listen to me.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw man, I am so so tempted to call in sick. That place has fucked me over so many times that rationally I don't feel too bad about doing it, but being a lady I am mostly irrational. But, but, I have been working so hard lately, and they can cope without me and I deserve a day off, and I reckon I can fake a migraine, and I do actually suffer from those anyway, so, fuck. I'll do it. NO. YES. HELP. I can't fake anything that keeps me away from food, because if you do that you have to get doctors notes and then a note saying you are well again so you can work with food again. Its too long.

alix (alix), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Also YOU HAVE BEEN WORKING EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR LIKE THE LAST TEN MONTHS!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

(Alright, more like three weeks, but...)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

call in sick. they deserve it.

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Man, I was just asked if I wanted a slave temp and now I want someone as consciencious as Lixi!

Super-Kate (kate), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:58 (twenty-one years ago)

yeh, i worked solidly for 17 days, in 2 jobs, had bank holiday off, got so trashed that it was not at all restive, and am now working till next sunday. I'm the one. Sainzbry's can go fuck themselves. I'm coming to brighton.

alix (alix), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 12:00 (twenty-one years ago)

my serious hard-thought advice to you alix is to QUIT YOUR JOB and become rich somehow so this is not a problem

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 12:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes. Join us. Also there is karaoke on the pier, in a terrifying bar where people start their hen parties mid-afternoon.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 12:01 (twenty-one years ago)

yay! the only condition is YOU CAN'T WEAR BLACK. Brighton is not a place for the goffs...(cough)

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 12:02 (twenty-one years ago)

yay! we've peer pressured her into coming! woo!

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 12:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Pier karaoke is the cheese on the proverbial trap that may yet lure the rodent Barang

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 12:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I will also bring cheese scones.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 12:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Stevem you know i am not a goff. My disposition is far too sunny. Actually, if there's no black I may need to borrow some clothes. I do not want to quit my job because then if the worst happens I wont be able to claim benefits, but if i am sacked then i can. I need to get sacked. Hurrah for peer pressure. Will refrain from jokes involving puns on peer/ pier.

alix (alix), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 12:06 (twenty-one years ago)

and with your firey new hair, you are like the anti-goth!

(am i not allowed to wear black, either? i haven't been accused of being a goth in like 10 years, so i should be ok, right?)

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 12:09 (twenty-one years ago)

You can come and be my temp if you get sacked!

Super-Kate (kate), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 12:09 (twenty-one years ago)

here you can wear this

http://www.dollarshort.org/archives/images/outfit.jpg

and then your bosses will not notice you when they google this thread as you will blend right in with the local cuisine

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 12:13 (twenty-one years ago)

steve, what on earth did you search for to get that picture?

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 12:14 (twenty-one years ago)

"colette taste clothes"

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 12:15 (twenty-one years ago)

actually not in quotemarks like that as that would probably not give back many results - other than for some crazy girl what likes to eat coats or something

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 12:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Steve what did they do to you in America?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 12:20 (twenty-one years ago)

their Coke doesn't taste as good as our Coke, damn fructal corn syrup

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 12:21 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm with matt. steve, are you broken?

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 13:17 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm with matt.

i'm broken NOW (blub)

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 13:19 (twenty-one years ago)

(let me know when this gets too weird, i have no idea where the line is anymore - kate to thread?)

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 13:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't look at me, man!

Super-Kate (kate), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 13:24 (twenty-one years ago)

kate, are you coming to brighton?

(i'm studiously ignoring stevem's weirdness right now. it kinda scares me)

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 13:25 (twenty-one years ago)

it's almost as if i just want to go to Brighton on my own and am executing the perfect plan for this to become guaranteed. it only took a day for me to lose all my translantic cool and revert to typical british lunacy...

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 13:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Probably not coming to Brighton. Haven't really thought about it seriously. I could be convinced if anyone made a serious plea.

Aside to Stevem: if "weirdness" is getting to the point where it's actually messing up your head, then it's crossed the line. Most things don't actually have to get to the point where it weirds others to cross said line, because most of the time, others think you're joking anyway.

It's when you're not sure if you're joking or not that you should stop. ("you" could just as well read "me" in that sentance)

Was that really cryptic?

Super-Kate (kate), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 13:29 (twenty-one years ago)

kate, you should come. but only if you stop being cryptic.

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 13:31 (twenty-one years ago)

How about if I start being Coptic instead, and communicate only in Cyrillic letters or something?

Super-Kate (kate), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 13:32 (twenty-one years ago)

don't worry kate and colette or indeed matt and alix - i am just amusing myself as only i know how

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 13:33 (twenty-one years ago)

is it me, or does it feel like there's only like 6 of us here today?

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 13:36 (twenty-one years ago)

a bit of both. but the americans will be on in a mo, not this thread tho i suspect.

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 13:36 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, now *I* feel weird.

Super-Kate (kate), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 13:41 (twenty-one years ago)

why do you feel weird? is it the american/english identity thing?

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 13:45 (twenty-one years ago)

No.

It's the "I'm awkward and socially inappropriate and everyone thinks I'm a twat" thing.

Super-Kate (kate), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

You made sense back there actually, I will remember that for whenever I find myself in that situation, which I can't say I ever have before, no...

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

you feel like stevem is acting today?

i don't get it.

but then again, it is mental nap time for me right now...

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm positively Bafta today darlings

nap would be good, i have yet to catch up on sleep lost from the last ten days

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 13:50 (twenty-one years ago)

when did you get back?

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

stevem doesnt seem that mental. But i havent been paying attention this last hour. I havent actually posted this much in months. its rather exciting.

alix (alix), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 14:00 (twenty-one years ago)

yes welcome back you

i got back Tuesday 9am and then had a horrendous day (for reasons it's not worth sharing, plus it makes me seem an idiot, which i am but that's hardly the point) with the exception of lunch with oldest friend who subsequently lent me cash cos i had none

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 14:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Today I saw a girl dressed like the doll in Stevem's picture.

The Copts have their own Pope. I served him tea once.

Mooro (Mooro), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 14:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Sir your comments are odd. please join us this saturday.

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

it's ok, i still like you even when you're mental...

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I prefer him mental. Its funnier. I really should be doing something else.

alix (alix), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

everything i have said here makes perfect sense, it is you who are all tripping

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 14:41 (twenty-one years ago)

esp. alix 'speed queen' ********, hurrah

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh well thanks for putting my full name up.

alix (alix), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 14:46 (twenty-one years ago)

If someone makes you feel like shit, repeatedly, without even trying, then whose fault is it?

Super-Kate (kate), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 14:49 (twenty-one years ago)

where is it you work again? oh yes THE DELI COUNTER, *********'s, ********* - how could i forget?

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 14:50 (twenty-one years ago)

(x-flirt)

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 14:50 (twenty-one years ago)

(Apropos of absolutely nothing, really.)

Super-Kate (kate), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 14:50 (twenty-one years ago)

If someone makes you feel like shit, repeatedly, without even trying, then whose fault is it?

nobody's and everybody's i'm afraid

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 14:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it their fault for being insensitive, or your own fault for being oversensitive? I don't know what's got into me just now.

Super-Kate (kate), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 14:53 (twenty-one years ago)

both kate, tho it's more down to the moon's gravitational pull really - when in doubt blame the moon that's what i say

anyway here are some examples of things we can look forward to this Saturday hopefully:

1) the rocky roll

http://www.base58.com/ilx/beachroll.gif

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 14:54 (twenty-one years ago)

2. dilapidate pier (altho it's gone completely now hasn't it? bah)

http://www.base58.com/pics/photos/westpier0305.jpg

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 14:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm too well-adusted to come to Brighton. No, really.

xpost Best. GIF. Ever.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 14:56 (twenty-one years ago)

yeh and why dont you put up my phone number while you're at it?

alix (alix), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 14:59 (twenty-one years ago)

charlie, i think you talk about being well adjusted too much to actually be well adjusted.

kate-- it's their fault. always. but you can rise above them and just ignore them. or i could come and kick them in the teeth. whichever is easier.

steve-- that is very naughty! seriously, you shouldn't do that to lixi! bad stevem.

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm trying to remember the last time I was in Brighton. I have some super-shite memories associated with the place. But then again, I also have some fantastic memories associated with the place. (Suzy and I getting pissed on White Russian Milkshakes and decided to swim. Fully clothed.)

I'm not sure I have been there since the last gig we played there. 28th September, 2002, that *can't* be right.

Super-Kate (kate), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:00 (twenty-one years ago)

charlie, i think you talk about being well adjusted too much to actually be well adjusted.

lol i did that on purpose! cos when i last used that phrase it looked so odd on "paper" i felt i had to do it again, just in case it then looked a little more convincing. which it didn't. meh.

xpost Kate, it was the Komedia gig, no? When Steve ran into the sea nekkid?

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:02 (twenty-one years ago)

my holiday resolution was to be more of a bastard

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Which Steve? Or do you mean Stephen? No, we've played Brighton about 5 times since the Komedia gig!

Super-Kate (kate), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

the funny thing is typing out lixi's place of work in capitals, as if that would attract the attention of her employers more than lower case

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

The last time our bassist got in a strop cause I got drunk and shagged the support band's guitarist (again) and I don't think I've been back to Brighton since.

Super-Kate (kate), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:05 (twenty-one years ago)

yeh, because it was so funny. I must warn you that i am in random hormonal mental place right now, so may well be pissed off. I dont really want people knowing exactly where i work. Do you see?

alix (alix), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:11 (twenty-one years ago)

It's possible I'm entirely misreading the tone of things here but WTF is going on here?! Bits of this thread are really not cool at all.

(xpost - Lixi - http://ilx.wh3rd.net/newquestions.php?board=55, you can get your name etc removed from the thread)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:13 (twenty-one years ago)

oh fuck it, no, just ignore me. sorry steve.

alix (alix), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:15 (twenty-one years ago)

*nods sheepishly*

yeh i was just gonna say about the mod request thing, cheers Matt - i think you're mis-reading otherwise tho

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:15 (twenty-one years ago)

no more personal sainsburys to you service for you then. you can come in and buy it yourself.

alix (alix), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:17 (twenty-one years ago)

i have painted a bad picture of both myself and the nature of ilx to poor prodigal alix today - will she stay or will she be driven away for good as briefly as she has been back?

i am above making jokes about 'personal services' at least

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:20 (twenty-one years ago)

stevem today is being a very naughty monkey.

but that's about it.

lixi, you should throw him in the sea! that'll teach him.

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:22 (twenty-one years ago)

are you not entertained?!

spaniard (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:24 (twenty-one years ago)

yeh, just you wait. Sorry, I did over react a bit. I like being prodigal though.

alix (alix), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

(If you'd like anything deleted or google-proofed, Lixi, just say the word.)

I think I'm still on for this too, but I have half a feeling that I'll be a fifth wheel among all you fun young people, so I might not come - I'm very low at the moment, and don't want to harsh anyone's buzz or anything.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

martin, i'm sure you and we would have a great time if you came along!

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:28 (twenty-one years ago)

yeh, could you remove the part about where i work and my surname? or at least google proof it.

alix (alix), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm adding this little episode to the list of evidence for a thread i am considering, working title 'why am i an idiot?'

meanwhile in Brighton

http://www.norfolkwindmills.com/images/carousel.jpg

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

well, i shall be adding it to my own similar thread, entitled 'calm down dear, its only the internet'

alix (alix), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:46 (twenty-one years ago)

oh i couldn't give a toss really i was just pretending to be supportive (/bastard)

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:47 (twenty-one years ago)

well fuck you

alix (alix), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:48 (twenty-one years ago)

madam you go too far. don't let my faux-nastiness hinder your sickie this saturday mmkay? that goes for the rest of you an' all

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:51 (twenty-one years ago)

and you take me too seriously. I am feeling a little dubious about the whole phoning sick thing, but will give it a go. Peace out Kool Kats.

alix (alix), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 16:03 (twenty-one years ago)

i can pretend to be your Dad and speak to them if you like - for added sincerity (i got my Mum to do this once when i was 17 and it worked, although i was genuinely ill they just didn't believe me), as a gesture for today's sins.

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 16:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I've removed those, Lixi.

I'm in the sort of state where I read Colette's post as if it says "we'll have fun even if you come along". I'm in that sort of state right now. Sorry.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 16:06 (twenty-one years ago)

don't be sorry just stop beating yourself up on ILX (or anywhere else) so much, surely it can't help you let alone anyone else. a day at the beach may well help tho, so by all means come along if you are up to it (not that you or anyone should have to feel like they need an invite as it were) and we'll dance the blues away, or something.

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 16:10 (twenty-one years ago)

(sorry i know i'm not quite Mr Tact today - or indeed most days - but i speak my mind, even when it's broken)

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 16:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Okay, I think I can forget about coming now.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 16:15 (twenty-one years ago)

sorry dude i was actually trying to be helpful - hope that's understood in time if not right now. even if not it was just my personal opinion and it doesn't have to affect your decision, especially as there will be a big group of people going probably and you're a great bloke

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 16:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm sorry all - I'm very severely depressed right now, really ill and in a very bad state. My judgement is lousy now. Have fun in Brighton, and ignore me.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

noooooo...it might do you good if you come, listen to what people say not what you think they say (i make that mistake all the time as well). think on it some more - see how you feel friday/sat morning, and take it easy in the meantime

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 16:26 (twenty-one years ago)

hey there, i'm not able to play much today, but i just wanted to say that you really should come, martin! i think you had a good time coming out last weekend, and you'd said that you weren't sure you wanted to before you got there.

just ignore stevem, he's in a silly mood. it's probably just that he has a crush on you.

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 6 May 2004 12:26 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't think i should be ignored. i believe what i am saying is helpful, as was the intention. granted i am in a certain mood though.

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 12:37 (twenty-one years ago)

i still think it's just that you have a crush on martin. admit it.

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 6 May 2004 12:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Unfortunately the advisor doesn't generally get to be the one who decides if the advice is helpful.

So I gather it's the Fishbowl from about 1pm, right?

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 6 May 2004 12:55 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, i do hope it's a nice day, pretty fed up with these intermittent downpours

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm trying to remember the last time I saw the sea. I think it was October.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Go down to the sea, young man.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:06 (twenty-one years ago)

i guess Lake Michigan doesn't count as the sea but even so it will only be a mere fortnight since i was at the other Brighton Beach

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:11 (twenty-one years ago)

brighton isn't on the lake...or is there one in illinois?

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:13 (twenty-one years ago)

i meant in New York - i went there as well you may recall - wahoo

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:14 (twenty-one years ago)

ah. i was thinking of brighton michigan. how silly.

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Tsk tsk, can't you Americans think of new names for places?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:50 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah i've been to Kalamazoo in Shropshire and they're not happy

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

did you bring me a souvenir?

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:56 (twenty-one years ago)

er...some empty sweet wrappers do ya?

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

no. i mean, it's not like i: 1) took pictures of my house at your request to see what a 'real michigan house looks like' 2) carried a 'yes there really is a kalamazoo' pencil around from america to various pubs, until i ran into you.

sweet wrappers. grr.

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:01 (twenty-one years ago)

i know, i'm sorry, i wanted to buy gifts for people but a) they wouldn't fit in my bag which i was keen to retain as hand luggage and b) i am a bastard

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:03 (twenty-one years ago)

ha ha, i don't remember asking you to take pictures of your house for me. how disturbing...

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:04 (twenty-one years ago)

If it's sunny on Saturday I am going to buy a new dress from Primark. Tragically, that IS the height of extravagance for me lately.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:04 (twenty-one years ago)

i like buying clothes in Brighton. i might have to go to the mod shop near the Kensington - and Cutie do good t-shirts, or did at least

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:07 (twenty-one years ago)

According to the BBC weather forecast, it's going to be nice in Brighton tomorrow and Sunday, and crap on Saturday. Too bad; I was tempted to come along to this.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

it will be raining in my heart as well as on the beach, chuckle

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Just to encourage Lixi to bunk off work:

http://easyweb.easynet.co.uk/~fortean3/images/food/cheese/cover.jpg

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:14 (twenty-one years ago)

(sotto voice) sshhhhhh, you'll blow the whole deal! we're not supposed to know the store name...

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:16 (twenty-one years ago)

i've heard that this primark is a good place to buy (in ILX terms) 'cartoon summer panties'. is this true? is there one in brighton? can we go?

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm sold.

alix (alix), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

on the cheese or on the summer underpants?

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't know where to begin tackling the concept of cartoon summer panties

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:21 (twenty-one years ago)

There is a MASSIVE Primark in Brighton. I don't know their current pantie situation, but my dress will only cost £8!

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Argh this is going to turn into a big girly shopping trip isn't it?!

Steve, try here for starters.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

archel, can we go to this place? sounds like heaven! or are you going before we get there? is it near where we'll be?

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry about my stupid behaviour yesterday. I think there are a bunch of reasons why I won't come: I'd be embarrassed after my nonsense yesterday (I really dislike passive-aggressive behaviour, and hate it most of all when I slip into it); I'm unlikely to fill well enough to venture out for anything not 100% unavoidable; and even if I felt quite a lot better, I'm very unlikely to be well enough that I wouldn't just be a dampener on the fun mood. If I feel far more recovered than I can imagine by Saturday morning, I'll rethink. I really appreciate that someone has told me they'd actually like me to come.

Colette, there's a huge and vital difference between now and last weekend: I was very unhappy then, but not clinically depressed. I did have a good time last Saturday (and thanks to everyone else there for that), but things are completely different now in many very bad ways.

ha, xpost and now there is talk of buying cartoon summer panties. That has two effects: making me regret more than I'll miss it, and probably making it a good idea that I do miss following around a bunch of sexy women decades younger than me as they buy such things. Besides the 'creepy old man' factor, at my age that would have to be a danger to my heart.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:24 (twenty-one years ago)

what the hell are these "cartoon summer panties" of which you speak? this is most perplexing.

there's a biggish Primark in Hackney if that's any help. Piss cheap innit.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:25 (twenty-one years ago)

We can go to primark, but I do not want to be party to a PROPER girly shppoing trip. I have no money, and I'm spending that no money on booze. Primark doesn't count though; it's like the cheap cash n carry of girly shopping.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

both pants and cheese. mmhhm.

alix (alix), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:27 (twenty-one years ago)

That is not a HUGELY tempting combo, to me.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:29 (twenty-one years ago)

no shopping except primark. unless stevem wants to go to this 'cutie' place. that way matt can be all macho and pretend that he doesn't love watching girls shop for underwear.

i assume the link matt DC posted explains the cartoon summer panty thing. pretty self explanatory, i think. i haven't found anywhere that makes cute & cheap stuff like i get at target/mervyns when i'm at home (which led me to spend $80+ in one go when i was back last. sigh)

(xpost-- i was wondering who was going to make a cheese/underpants joke)

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

When you've worked with cheese for as long as me you start to see it in a whole different light...

alix (alix), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

(If the womenfolk really want to go shopping I'm sure we can find something to entertain us - there is beer to be drunk and football to be watched and hen weekend attendees to be entertained round the back of the amusement arcade or whatever it is people do in Brighton these days)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

You wouldn't want to entertain them if you'd seen the ones that were karaokeing on the pier a few weeks ago...

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh dear. Think I might stick with the shopping.

If all you want is the aura of cheese and pants you could just get off the train at Clapham Junction and experience it from all directions.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:35 (twenty-one years ago)

You're going to Brighton to shop in a PRIMARK!? Geez, come on lasses! NB not coming cos am broke, innit, and er, well, that's it, really.

Sarah will not leave the zone 2 boundary, Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I mean, beer and footy, blokes, yeuucch puke innit.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:36 (twenty-one years ago)

This may be a relevant opinion piece here. I agree with Ms Pollard to some extent as I am not a great one for conspic. consumption even when funds allow, but I think it not that well-written, for a poet.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm imagining that the primark experience will be one of many things we do. is that so wrong? i mean, archel was planning on going anyway, right?

matt, i can only imagine you chasing after hen parties-- until they started chasing you back and you had to run terrified!

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:38 (twenty-one years ago)

The Pollard piece reads like someone who's just had their credit card application turned down.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

i won't bother shopping probably, esp. not round the Lanes as it's annoyingly busy and full of vagrants and students - tho this means i blend in well

i'd forgotten that thread linked to, all is clearer now

i figure Fishbowl by 1, then head for beach around 2 if nice, maybe going back into town for a couple of hours before back to the Pier for you know what (if we're all drunk enough by then)

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I think that may be harsh Marcello. She makes a good point about happiness coming from giving, not receiving. Unfashionable but I still find it true.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh god. I forgot about the horrible spectre of karaoke.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:43 (twenty-one years ago)

so she thinks that i've been brainwashed that new, interesting underwear makes me happy?

perhaps. i don't really mind, though. especialy since a lot of her thing sounds like it's against brand flashing, which i don't do (unless someone sees my hello kitty undies), which isn't the same thing as going to a cheapo store to get pants.

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm a primark whore, I admit it.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:45 (twenty-one years ago)

also on my agenda is friend's birthday party but that's not til like 7 at the earliest so i'm probably going to be sticking around in Brighton well into the night, maybe even clubbing it and taking a very late/very early Sunday train home if not falling sleep on a park bench or something ridiculous. but we'll see how it goes.

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:45 (twenty-one years ago)

karaoke, new underwear, the sea...

i'm assuming there's candy floss at a place this heavenly?

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:46 (twenty-one years ago)

She makes a good point about happiness coming from giving, not receiving. Unfashionable but I still find it true.

Also a common philosophy voiced by people who don't have the money to do either. I've seen Pollard's name elsewhere in the Grauniad recently in a "I'm a proper poet, not pseudo-wank" context; she's just another loudmouth trying it, and should be ignored.

I do not intend to be drunk at any point of the day on Saturday.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:48 (twenty-one years ago)

i haven't found anywhere that makes cute & cheap stuff like i get at target/mervyns when i'm at home

You've tried H&M and Matalan, I presume? Apparently even Tesco are now selling cheapo clothes in their bigger - read: middle of bloody nowhere - stores. Also, any Lahndon market tends to have a varied selection of such goods (now I've investigated Matt's link and know kinda what you're on about).

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:50 (twenty-one years ago)

shall we have a roll call then? actually no, i hate all this planning and shit - vague is the new sorted, it worked for me in the States i can tell you

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:52 (twenty-one years ago)

the only cartoons on H&M's underwear are snoopy and betty boop. as if. the only place in london that i've found that works for me has been one of the markets where i found virgin mary ones, that i love and save for special occasions.

steve, there seems to be a lack of trains between 11pm and the next day, but you know that already, right? (actually i don't understand the thing about 7. is the birthday in brighton?)

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:52 (twenty-one years ago)

yes it is, i'm pretty sure it will be cool if people want to join me for that, i would certainly love for them to - it's likely i will be sensible and skip the club later in order to get the last train home in any case

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:54 (twenty-one years ago)

yeh, if i turn up at victoria, then i'm coming, other wise i've bottled it and am on way to work. May need some kind of encouragement on saturday morning before calling work. someone phone me at 9.30 and remind me why i hate my job, or summat please!

alix (alix), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:55 (twenty-one years ago)

i think i'm still planning on getting an earlier train back to london for birthday drinks etc. hopefully that doesn't mean i'm going to miss karaoke?

lixi, send me an email with your phone number and i'll text you encouragement. (helpful if you put ILX something in the subject as it'll land in my spam folder first no doubt)

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Lixi, if it helps I can email Gimpy Subservient Slave Bloke on Friday afternoon and let him know where you work. If that doesn't persuade you to bunk off nothing will.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:58 (twenty-one years ago)

matt, the problem with that is that she'll still work there when she isn't 'sick' anymore...hello, scary!

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:00 (twenty-one years ago)

i already know where she works

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Arf!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:01 (twenty-one years ago)

WHAT A TEAM

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Also a common philosophy voiced by people who don't have the money to do either.

Good lord, is it an intellectual crime to be poor now? I don't want to derail the thread, but fuckssake. I can't afford luxuries and I don't much miss them, but I saved up a whole £21 last month and bought Matt something I knew he'd want and we were both happy.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

i always thought it was an intellectual crime *not* to be poor...

(i'm not being mean, either, archel. i think thoughtful gifts are way more cool than expensive gifts. which should be remembered since my birthday is in like 3 weeks. [kidding])

i'm so stupid at this point in the day. i'm going home to sleep soon.

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

TEXTBOOK!

cashback!, Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't email scary bloke, matt. I meant i may need some encouragement, because i do feel quite shit about calling in sick.

alix (alix), Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh no collette you are right that some of that article is a bit silly. It was M's comment that struck me as slightly nasty, though I'm sure it was directed at the author and not me.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:12 (twenty-one years ago)

i think Marcello is planning to come down and dazzle us with his karaoke skillz

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Marvy. We can duet.

(I jest. I do not karaoke. However drunk I am.)

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:24 (twenty-one years ago)

however, drunk you are

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Whatever, yodam.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

An intellectual crime *not* to be poor?

Only from the warped perspective of the politics of envy.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 7 May 2004 07:17 (twenty-one years ago)

looks like it really is going to rain tomorrow, as it did on my holidays, as it will at glastonbury...

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 08:18 (twenty-one years ago)

might as well not bother then eh?

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 7 May 2004 08:21 (twenty-one years ago)

the seeds of doubt you are mischievously sowing here are echoed by the distant 'ha ha' of my as yet still undelivered debit card

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 08:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Didn't you see that C4 doc about the Royal Mail last week then? It's probably been nicked and the crooked postie is probably using it to buy Macc Lads DVDs even as we speak.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 7 May 2004 08:26 (twenty-one years ago)

it is you who is the rain sir

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 08:52 (twenty-one years ago)

ok-- going against steve's plan of not planning...what's the plan?

i just realised that the trouble with the plan is that it involves waking up at like 10 on a saturday. boo.

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 08:55 (twenty-one years ago)

tough.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 7 May 2004 08:57 (twenty-one years ago)

well you can forget about karaoke now sunshine.

and sunshine.

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:03 (twenty-one years ago)

i believe i am trying it

(Colette: plan is as upthread, be at Victoria by 11am - i tried to check train times yesterday but Network Rail site was down - there's probably a train at 10.58 or 11.02 or some nonsense...i am really pissed off that it's going to be raining but i think we should go anyway)

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:04 (twenty-one years ago)

For fuck's sake this a trip to THE BRITISH SEASIDE since when did sunshine become a prerequisite, Jaysus.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:05 (twenty-one years ago)

train is at 11.06 so no tardiness

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:06 (twenty-one years ago)

actually stevem you've been trying it pretty much all the way through this thread.

i would be more interested in coming to this if you weren't involved.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 7 May 2004 09:07 (twenty-one years ago)

i wouldn't have thought it would be your scene based on a selection of comments you've made here and on other threads, no real offence

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:09 (twenty-one years ago)

this whole 'the train leaves at 6 past the hour so you can't be late' thing makes me nervous.

do we buy tickets on the train or do i have to get up EVEN EARLIER to get one?

stevem, don't leave without me. otherwise i'm likely to just turn around and go back to bed...

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:11 (twenty-one years ago)

i do quite fancy doing some socialising in brighton, but i fear my idea of socialising is probably too different to yours.

what we might be doing is driving down to brighton tomorrow to do other things. if we happen to bump into each other, then we meet up; if we don't, then we don't. fair's fair. depends on the weather and how we feel. if not, we might be driving to suffolk instead. will see how it goes.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 7 May 2004 09:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Platforms are gated at Victoria so allow time for ticket buying.

The ticket machines at V. never seem to work and they don't take cards so you may have join a lengthy queue at the ticket office.

(xpost)

robster (robster), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Woah, woah, back up here people - there's a train from London Bridge (ie probably much more convenient for everyone involved) at 11.10 and another at 11.40 both of which get in before 1. Is this better for people?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:16 (twenty-one years ago)

where's Charlie with the discount paraphenalia?

buy ticket at the station Colette - the next train is 11.36 which we could wait for if anyone is running late (if anyone is going to be late it will be me anyway) but the earlier the better i reckon

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude! The Thameslink!

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:20 (twenty-one years ago)

at the moment it feels like there are only 3 people going to this from London - so yeah London Bridge does make more sense

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:20 (twenty-one years ago)

it's not that much more convenient tho (and it takes ten minutes longer)

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:21 (twenty-one years ago)

(It also goes from Kings Cross and Farringdon, which makes it more convenient for me, but erm, other plans have been made for me, so I unfortunately can't go.)

(I have resisted the urge to make any other comments about who would make me want to go more or make me want to go less coz that would be inflammatory. Even if it might make Martin feel better.)

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:23 (twenty-one years ago)

But would it make you feel better?

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 7 May 2004 09:30 (twenty-one years ago)

i'd kind of prefer london bridge. but that's only because it's like 5 minutes less walking for me. and 11.40 sounds SO MUCH NICER than 11.06.

i think charlie isn't coming now...

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:37 (twenty-one years ago)

where's Charlie with the discount paraphenalia?

I'm sorry to say that Charlie can't afford to come anymore, discount or no. He is, needless to say, beside himself with distress at this sad realisation.

However.

If anybody would like to borrow my network card and make use of it for the trip - as I say, it gives up to four people 1/3 off rail travel on weekends - you are most welcome. All you need to do is, er, meet me somewhere and mug me/ask nicely.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:02 (twenty-one years ago)

London Bridge. and it looks like it's just me, Matt and Colette going unless Rob's around, others speak now or forever hold your piece

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:05 (twenty-one years ago)

(and Alix if her nerve holds)

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:06 (twenty-one years ago)

(And Liz and Rob coming from Portsmouth)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:07 (twenty-one years ago)

but no-one else from London?

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I would go, but we are going to visit Darwin's house with HSA's mum. I don't know where that is.

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:09 (twenty-one years ago)

i'll mug charlie. i think i can take him.

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:10 (twenty-one years ago)

karaoke, new underwear, the sea...
i'm assuming there's candy floss at a place this heavenly?

haha i thought for a while you meant karaoke is the new underwear!

NAKED KARAOKE!

can someone buy me a hat while they're at pri-mark?

ken c (ken c), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Watch out, Colette, he's not just a big sugarpussy under all that fringe!

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:11 (twenty-one years ago)

i've said, and stand by the statement, that you're the only person on ILX that i would be scared to fight.

i am so leaving before naked karaoke starts.

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:12 (twenty-one years ago)

hi i'm coming btw... if you do go to victoria allow like half and hour minimum to get tickets - it's baws, for a big station the ticket selling facility is shite.

let me know the plan please!

ken c (ken c), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Heh. Sometimes my reputation worries me. But only sometimes. ;-)

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:13 (twenty-one years ago)

well, i think we're pretty evenly matched for size and stuff, and i've seen you get MAD.

ken, the plan now is to meet at london bridge at 11.20 so that we can catch the 11.40 train.

anyone disagree?

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:15 (twenty-one years ago)

When did you see me get MAD? I don't recall ever being more than gently irate around you. I haven't gotten really, green-turning, thing-smashingly MAD in a long, long time.

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Suits me. Although for Archel's sake we should make it 1.30 at the Fishbowl now.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:16 (twenty-one years ago)

london bridge sounds great - and i can get the 43 straight down! get in.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:18 (twenty-one years ago)

i think even your irate scares me.

should we take the 11.10 train, then? to keep with the original plan?

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:24 (twenty-one years ago)

please we've switched venue, let's not switch time as well (LB, 1100 BST)

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:29 (twenty-one years ago)

TMFD.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:29 (twenty-one years ago)

huh?

ok, ok, deprive me of my sleep. that's fine.

that means you need to feed me LOTS AND LOTS of sugar all day to keep me awake.

fun times await.

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:31 (twenty-one years ago)

i refuse to be your feeder

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:33 (twenty-one years ago)

even if i wear the candyfloss outfit?

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:34 (twenty-one years ago)

yes...no...oh i dunno, i'm confused now

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Look, I will get to the Fishbowl at 1pm and try to save a table. or at the very least get ahead of you all in the drinking.

Archel (Archel), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:46 (twenty-one years ago)

mwah ha ha ha.

no really. i need sugar. already. and i'm so going to be even more tired tomorrow. otherwise there's no way i'll make it to karaoke.

(archel, i think we're meeting at 11 and getting the early stage. i will not be nearly as mean to you as i will be to stevem, don't worry.)

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Watch out, Colette, he's not just a big sugarpussy under all that fringe!

She's right, y'know. I'm nails, me. *rips phone book in half*

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:48 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm not scared. we'll see who ends up with this 'network railcard' tomorrow morning, shall we?

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:50 (twenty-one years ago)

"take anything you want! look, here's my wallet. not the face, anything but the face..."

see, *that's* how hard I am.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:09 (twenty-one years ago)

anything but the face

just like vega in street fighter. figures.

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

that's hot

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:20 (twenty-one years ago)

London Bridge is much better for me. Its only 7 minutes train journey frmo peckham. I AM coming, as well - i decided it by tossing a coin. The results were unaminous. I cannot spell that word. Anyway, after the coin thing I started to get quite excited at the prospect of the sea, and felt less bad about work, although come tomorrow morning i will be hyperventilating. Which, come to think about it, will give the phone call a hint of authenticity. Job done!

alix (alix), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:25 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm hurt you had to toss a coin, but well done

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't take it personally, bach. I toss coins for most important decisions I have to make. The more important, the more tossing. Um.

alix (alix), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:30 (twenty-one years ago)

yay! we are bad influences on lixi. hurrah.

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:39 (twenty-one years ago)

bach? whagwan? i quite like the idea of being referred to as bach

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:42 (twenty-one years ago)

http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/users/mn200/music/bach/bach.jpg

uncanny

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry, its Welsh for 'dear'. I can be both affectionate and patronising at the same time! Job Done!

alix (alix), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Probably time for me to stop saying 'job done!'

alix (alix), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:43 (twenty-one years ago)

and anything else

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't be so mean. Anyway, your wish shall be granted by the end of the day, after which i will not have internet access for the foreseeable.

alix (alix), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:48 (twenty-one years ago)

will you wear that cool teal eyeshadow again? or is that just for parties?

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:49 (twenty-one years ago)

women love bastards, i read it in Cosmo. can't you get them to set up a PC with internet access at the PLACE OF WORK THAT MUST NOT BE MENTIONED?

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Me? Which colour is teal? The blue one? I am probably going to wear a bright green eyeshadow, which goes a bit better with the Little Mermaid hair I currently sport. And yes, women do love bastards. The unmentionable place uses very old computers that do not even run windows. Just some odd dos thing.

alix (alix), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Wouldn't it be great if you could surf from the registers, though?

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:54 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, lixi. the green/blue stuff you wore last weekend. that was so cool and i want some. will you bring it and put it on me? to match the blue circles under my eyes from being so tired?

i don't love bastards. they bore me SO MUCH.

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Of course. I have loads of the stuff.

alix (alix), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:57 (twenty-one years ago)

yay! i don't think it'll look as cool on me as it does on you, but it will amuse me to try it.

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 12:06 (twenty-one years ago)

this all sounds like fun. apart from the Brighton part. bad memories...

koogs (koogs), Friday, 7 May 2004 12:08 (twenty-one years ago)

everyone needs to stop raining on the parade. we'll get enough of that tomorrow.

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 12:40 (twenty-one years ago)

indeed it all sounds like fun. apart from the brighton part, the meeting up part, the train part and the primark part. plus all other parts i may inadvertently have missed.

Moaning Moaney from Moaney-sur-Moan, Friday, 7 May 2004 12:42 (twenty-one years ago)

this thread has been a learning experience for me

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 12:44 (twenty-one years ago)

(like fuck doing this again, next time if i wanna go somewhere with people i like hanging out and having fun with i will just e-mail and call them cos i have their details anyway and it saves all this meta-crap eh?)

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 12:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Christ on a bike, what a lot of faffing. See you chaps that can be bothered tomorrow.

(Are you practising being masterful, stevem?)

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 7 May 2004 12:55 (twenty-one years ago)

No I think he realises he shouldn't have tried it.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 7 May 2004 12:58 (twenty-one years ago)

hmmm. i don't understand why people come on threads to talk about stuff they don't want to go to and then try to be nasty, but end up sounding like whiney jackasses.

it's a mystery to me!

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:10 (twenty-one years ago)

i blame the moon

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:16 (twenty-one years ago)

La lune ne garde aucune rancune.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:18 (twenty-one years ago)

(oops. that wasn't meant as a criticism of you steve - i like the way that these ilx things seem to be moving away from just sitting in pubs drinking - it was meant as more of a 'i'd be there if only it wasn't brighton' thing)

koogs (koogs), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:22 (twenty-one years ago)

i didn't take it as a criticism dude, but it's just 'what's the point' you know? i guess the moving away from just sitting in pubs drinking is good in some ways but also presents some problems, as evident on this thread

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:33 (twenty-one years ago)

everyone is so crabby today!

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Organising piss-ups away from breweries does take more effort.

I'm not crabby, Colette! I'm knocking off in 20 mins to go to the seaside!

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I blame PMS, but that explains nothing about the boys!

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:35 (twenty-one years ago)

we have a time of the month as well, i read it in Zoo Weekly

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, it's the period between the 1st and the 31st IIRC hoho etc

Archel (Archel), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't forget yr hopping off before the seaside tonight, Liz.

robster (robster), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

if you call them whiney jackasses is it any wonder that they're so crabby?

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 7 May 2004 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, you've got to admit she's got a point.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Crabby chicken or crabby egg?

Oh yes! I also get curry with Robster's parents! Yay!

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Um, I am feeling a little better and I really like all of the people planning to be there, so I am starting to get tempted again. I hope my earlier whiny behaviour hasn't put anyone off me so much that they'd rather I didn't, but I suspect nothing good can come of turning that into a question. I'll try to decide by tonight.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh yes! I also get curry with Robster's parents! Yay!

Yeah, I wasn't invited.

robster (robster), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:43 (twenty-one years ago)

martin, i wasn't referring to you at all. i don't think i know marcello, and don't have anything against him, but coming on a thread and basically saying 'your plans suck and you are all stupid' is just kind of annoying.

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I think it sounds great, especially Primark.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

i still haven't met peter miller.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

After 373 posts, what will you participants find to talk about tomorrow?

I like Brighton & like lots of the people going, so the only thing keeping me from attending is

a) need for massive lie-in

b) need to see my wife who arrives back tonight after a week away.

Mooro (Mooro), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:16 (twenty-one years ago)

hey colette that's not actually what i said if you read it properly so you're the one who's annoying!

(i didn't say that the plan sucked, merely some of the planners)

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 7 May 2004 14:17 (twenty-one years ago)

'your plans suck and you are all stupid'

vs.

"You suck and your plans are stupid."

Oh, such a MINOR point of pedantry...

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Well kids, I'm off home now so unless acts of god or Thameslink prevent ye, see you in the Fishbowl some time after 1pm!

Archel (Archel), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

After 373 posts, what will you participants find to talk about tomorrow?

ha ha, i knew it! i knew this enormo-meta-pre-happening stuff irks people. won't happen again (apart from on the colette birthday thread) i pwomise

Marcello was saying he would come if none of us were going, especially me, even tho it was my idea

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

clearly, i'm the annoying one. you're so right. thank you for pointing it out to me.

and if you're saying that the planners (including steve) suck, then i think you're even more of a jackass. he's my friend and i don't like it when people are rude to my friends.

i hope you have a fantastic day tomorrow, sitting alone in your room in hampstead, while we all go out and have a nice day being nice to each other.

(xxxpost)

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:21 (twenty-one years ago)

And if it wasn't in Brighton and there was no Primark, I recall.

xpost

Archel (Archel), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

LEAVE IT EE AINT WURTH IT

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:25 (twenty-one years ago)

hey colette, i think you'll find if you read what i said on this thread that i'm NOT going to be sitting alone in my room in hampstead (which of my eight rooms do you mean, exactly?) but will be out with my significant other doing lots of interesting and amusing things, not to mention the even more interesting and amusing things we will be doing when we get back home! these might involve travelling to brighton and they might not. as i clearly stated above. please try to keep up!

the idea was good. unfortunately the wrong person had the idea.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 7 May 2004 14:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Marcello, did Stevem, Colette and I mention that we'd taken turns gang-banging your novel until it squealed like a pig?

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

(which of my eight rooms do you mean, exactly?)

priceless

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

no, kate, i want to be his friend now! he has eight rooms! so he must be rich (and classy, because classy people let us know their property values before anything else about them) and so now i'm really impressed!

can we all just come to your (obviously massive) house tomorrow, instead, marcello? and do lots of interesting and amusing things?

(xpost...steve is OTM)

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

(It's you, colette, you're too <cartman>poor</cartman> for him)

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

this thread is now the exact equivalent of the cafe rampage in Quadrophenia, most apt

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

they are not priceless. i have to pay rent on them.

thanks for the offer colette, but within our walls intimacy is closeted and paramount.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 7 May 2004 14:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Except when you post all about it on your blog, that is.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:35 (twenty-one years ago)

ah but i only post what i need to post. "it was only after an hour of charming conversation that i realised that he had charismatically and amicably told me nothing about his life whatsoever."

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 7 May 2004 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

look i just want a beer with Archel and to toss pebbles around while getting my arse wet - stop getting this thread wrong

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:38 (twenty-one years ago)

but one thing i will tell you colette - two years ago i was living in streatham, i was widowed, i was nearly broke and my mind had virtually gone. now i'm - well, not rich, but sufficiently well off not to have to worry about the bills - and i'm living in hampstead with someone i love and who loves me. i know which life i prefer.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 7 May 2004 14:41 (twenty-one years ago)

you can't blame her for thinking you were just an embittered loner. have a good relaxing weekend tho.

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Lordy dicks. What became of the thread? Let's talk piers.

alix (alix), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

What's on Brighton pier these days anyway? Do they have a DDR?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:43 (twenty-one years ago)

thank you stevem. appreciated. you too.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 7 May 2004 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

i reckon Brighton Pier does have DDR but can't confirm, the arcade is modern so surely...

some fairground type rides tho mainly more for kids. there's a rollercoaster right on the end which i am now prepared to go on having experienced the Coney Cyclone

it also has manky doughnuts

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Didn't it fall into the sea? I am absurdly happied by fairgrounds.

alix (alix), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, Marcello, everyone used to cut you a lot of slack when you were a misanthrope cunt to everyone on ILX, because we all knew you'd been through a lot, and everyone tried to be understanding. Now your life is all back in order and great, you're *STILL* a misanthropic cunt to everyone, so what's your excuse now?

I will probably regret saying this, but I don't care. It's been something that's been on my mind for a while.

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:48 (twenty-one years ago)

alix that was the old West pier, they have an alternate one

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:48 (twenty-one years ago)

What's this Volks Railway thing that I hear about?

Sarah (starry), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:50 (twenty-one years ago)

it's a mini-railway that runs down the seafront. it is rub.

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:50 (twenty-one years ago)

If you're talking DDR, you better hope and pray to god that Ken C doesn't show up as you will all be pwned to the point of spontaneously jettisoning off the face of Earth.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:51 (twenty-one years ago)

i can't play DDR without having a few cans of Pimms first, but that's all being taken care of

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:52 (twenty-one years ago)

this thread is making me sad. there's surely no need for any of this horrible childish cattiness? i mean really, we're all grown-ups (relatively speaking), but somehow conversation has degenerated to pigtail-pulling and "he started it" nonsense levels and i find it all a bit odd.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:52 (twenty-one years ago)

fear not, talk of drunken DDR shenans is like the sun bursting thru the dark clouds. i am looking forward to this again now and can't wait to see you all tomorrow.

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:53 (twenty-one years ago)

thank god for alternate piers

alix (alix), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:53 (twenty-one years ago)

http://www.alisontaylor.net/prideofbritain/img23.jpg

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:54 (twenty-one years ago)

ooh look at that punchable mug, it's undoing all the joy i just felt

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Stevem, are you vegetarian? If not, I wholeheartedly recommend pork on chips. Archel will show you the way.

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:57 (twenty-one years ago)

is that code?

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, Marcello, everyone used to cut you a lot of slack when you were a misanthrope cunt to everyone on ILX, because we all knew you'd been through a lot, and everyone tried to be understanding. Now your life is all back in order and great, you're *STILL* a misanthropic cunt to everyone, so what's your excuse now?

I will probably regret saying this, but I don't care. It's been something that's been on my mind for a while.

To be honest Kate, I'm not really bothered if you think of me, never mind what you think of me. My mind has better things and better people to occupy it. And 99.99999% of the time you're not on my mind at all. You're just not part of my life, so think what you like, it doesn't make a blind bit of difference to me.

Three minutes from now it'll be closing time and I'll have forgotten all about you and ILx the moment I leave my office.

What's your excuse?

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 7 May 2004 14:58 (twenty-one years ago)

DDR??? Man! Now I wanna come even more!!

*curses finances to the high hills*

Sarah (starry), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:59 (twenty-one years ago)

the DDR is unconfirmed tho, we won't know fo sho until we get thar

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 15:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Marcello if ILX means that little to you then why....oh do i even need to ask this question?

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 15:02 (twenty-one years ago)

If you hate us so much, WHY? DO? YOU? KEEP? COMING? BACK? HERE?

Every time I see you, you tell me about how you've "outgrown" ILX etc. etc. and all this blather.

If you're forgotten about us ten minutes after you've left work, why do you come here in the first place?

Yes, you fuck me off, and you upset me, (and others) to the point where yes, I am still upset and annoyed several days later. Does that make you proud of yourself or something, that you are ABLE to be so irritating and so insulting as to force yourself into someone else's thread and someone else's consciousness?

Maybe it says something about me, that yes, this crap bothers me. But I think it says something worse about YOU that you think it's perfectly alright to behave in this way constantly and permanently.

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 15:03 (twenty-one years ago)

BACK TO THE PIERS, PLEASE.

alix (alix), Friday, 7 May 2004 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Marcello, you appear to be turning into Doomie. I am not sure that this is an entirely wise move.

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 7 May 2004 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I apologise to the Brighton people. Have fun, I wish I could join you. This has just been going on for years, and I have a cursedly long memory sometimes.

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 15:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Wouldn't it be good if Piers Morgan sponsored a pier.

Wouldn't it?

Sarah (starry), Friday, 7 May 2004 15:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Piers Morgan Pier is very slippery, smells a bit, veers to the left then the right way too sharply and goes too far over the top for my liking

also its a cunt

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

BACK TO THE PIERS, PLEASE.

Mooro (Mooro), Friday, 7 May 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

well done people, you've done well there.

alix (alix), Friday, 7 May 2004 15:11 (twenty-one years ago)

When you say "well", you mean "a right load of old toss", don't you.

Sarah (starry), Friday, 7 May 2004 15:12 (twenty-one years ago)

you know me so well, muffin.

alix (alix), Friday, 7 May 2004 15:14 (twenty-one years ago)

are you two like this at home? (yes)

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 15:15 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, but more so, bach.

alix (alix), Friday, 7 May 2004 15:15 (twenty-one years ago)

sitcom alert

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 15:18 (twenty-one years ago)

You're just jealous.

alix (alix), Friday, 7 May 2004 15:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Pickle OTM.

Sarah (starry), Friday, 7 May 2004 15:23 (twenty-one years ago)

not JUST jealous

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 15:25 (twenty-one years ago)

see you guys tomorrow. if you're lucky you might even see me play DDR on BOTH PADS. and possibly fail - i'm still striving to be a real asian kid like phil-two!

gawd going oot tonight too how'm i gonna make it up for 11am train??

ken c (ken c), Friday, 7 May 2004 16:03 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, the trip to Darwin's house has been cancelled! Leaving me free to go to Brighton after all. I guess everyone has gone home already and I should message Colette or Stevem or someone to tell them to expect me at the station or something so I don't get left behind! Weex!

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 18:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I've decided to give this a miss: it's too much of a commitment to me if I start feeling terrible again, and if I do I could ruin the days of several people. I'm sure you'll have a fabulous time without me, and I hope I'll get another chance in the future.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 7 May 2004 23:19 (twenty-one years ago)

:-(

That's a shame. I saw Will Self on Grumpy Old Men last night, and that reminded me that we hadn't finished our conversation about him. Ah well, another time, Martin. Spoil youself today, and I hope you feel better.

Super-Kate (kate), Saturday, 8 May 2004 07:36 (twenty-one years ago)

It is a pity, Martin -you'd better make sure you have a fantastic day at home. And laugh if/when there's torrential rain along the coast. :)

...I might just turn up to this. (if I can manage to leave the house ahem.)

cis (cis), Saturday, 8 May 2004 07:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Grrrr. I did my best to go, but my bank had other plans for me. Stupid new "chip and pin" card they sent me. They don't bother to tell you that it doesn't actually work in lots of older cash machines. And you have to sign up for all sorts of "Security details" over the phone (a half hour process, what with all the waiting in call queues) in order to even be put through to a person to TELL you what the heck is going on with your account.

So, it looks like it's back to the bad old days when I had to look for a Halifax machine every time I wanted to withdraw money. Grrrrrrr.

Have a fun time in Brighton, I guess HSA and I are gonna go to the pictures instead. Apparently Hugh Jackman (or however you spell his name) strips off in Van Helsing so I'm going to drown my troubles in his leather kecks. Oh yes.

Super-Kate (kate), Saturday, 8 May 2004 10:18 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, Van Helsing is great.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 8 May 2004 10:19 (twenty-one years ago)

aw what a beautiful day.

piccies

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 9 May 2004 10:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Cor, that was great, wasn't it? The rain held off, we had a pretty good turnout in the end (myself, Stevem, Colette, Alix, Cis, Ken, Liz, Rob and Archel obviously) and there were rollercoaster rides and terrifying karaoke hen parties and candyfloss DDR and dodgems and beer touching the sea and I won a luminous stuffed fish on a dolphin racing stall. That ruled. More FAPs in cool places please. I want to go punting in Cambridge now.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 9 May 2004 10:57 (twenty-one years ago)

That sea touching picture is beautiful - there's something incredibly emotive about it. Also Ken how were you managing to take pictures on the dodgems?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 9 May 2004 11:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I want to go punting in Cambridge now.

i was in cambridge yesterday, which is why i wasn't at this, and punting was definitely an option. however i'd be very up for this later in the summer, and i can get at least one punt (and maybe more) at a hugely discounted rate...

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 9 May 2004 11:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Come punting in Oxford! There's lots of pubs on the way. perfect for a FAP

jellybean (jellybean), Sunday, 9 May 2004 11:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw, I can't see the pics. I'm sorry I missed it.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 9 May 2004 12:35 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah think the yahoo photo server is a bit fuxxed just now, should be up later on!

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 9 May 2004 12:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I can see them OK. Lixi's hair is fantastic. Ken, you look very dapper. The photo of stevem disappearing is my favouritest one however. (not because he is disappearing though)

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 9 May 2004 13:16 (twenty-one years ago)

shudder

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 9 May 2004 13:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I concur with everything ailsa has said. At some point I'll remember what hoodied Colette reminds me of (and them I'll probably "forget" because it'll be ADF or something). Did Matt AC (= mr. archel?) dissappear at some point, or is that him behind robster in the group photo?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Sunday, 9 May 2004 13:30 (twenty-one years ago)

the kiddie whacking a ball is my favourite one.

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 9 May 2004 13:33 (twenty-one years ago)

it just warms my heart. if i ever have i kid i think i'll also make him beat up stuffed toys.

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 9 May 2004 13:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Good pics! I wish I had been there.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 9 May 2004 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

totally should come next time!

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 9 May 2004 15:13 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah matt ac disappeared after the first pub we attended!!

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 9 May 2004 16:16 (twenty-one years ago)

i want to use that rollercoaster pic as an album cover one day, if you guys don't mind.

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 9 May 2004 16:17 (twenty-one years ago)

i want 20%

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 9 May 2004 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

since any albums i put out is likely to make a loss... you're on!

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 9 May 2004 16:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I am well up for punting later on in the summer.

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 9 May 2004 21:47 (twenty-one years ago)

but in cambridge, right? not oxford.

toby (tsg20), Monday, 10 May 2004 05:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I've been punting in Oxford before. Therefore I vote Cambridge (also CambridgeFAP was suggested at the same time as Brighton). Later in the summer though, when its actually sunny.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 10 May 2004 06:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I slightly prefer punting in Oxford, tbh, but Cambridge is fine too.

Ricardo (RickyT), Monday, 10 May 2004 07:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I like the pic of Liz and I endorsing ketchup and brown sauce.

What an excellent day! Hurrah for stevem for organising a FAP in the face of adversity and Trying It.

robster (robster), Monday, 10 May 2004 07:33 (twenty-one years ago)

That rollercoaster pic is awesome... note Stevem hanging onto the front for dear life.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 10 May 2004 07:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Yay classic photos. Nota bene that I took the rocking ones of Ken DDRing. He got a round of applause from a group of shocked and awed mums and dads afterwards.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 10 May 2004 07:45 (twenty-one years ago)

good fun, a very nice day. i wasn't nearly as miserable as i looked in the group pics near the sea (AF i think i look like either the grim reaper or eamon-- same difference?).

my fave pics are liz and rob and the sauces, the kid hitting the fish (you can't see me trying to hold it far enough from my face so he didn't hit me as well), and playing fish air hockey. which was a highlight for me.

it was great fun and more days out when the weather turns nice would be great. although i have a *huge* bruise from the dodgems...

i'll try to get my pics up tomorrow sometime.

colette (a2lette), Monday, 10 May 2004 08:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh god the dodgems. I also have bruises.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 10 May 2004 08:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Indeed, great photos and a great day. That kid looks so happy hitting the fish, bless. Come again soon!

Archel (Archel), Monday, 10 May 2004 08:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Looks like you kids had a great day. Pls come to Cambridge!!!!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 10 May 2004 09:06 (twenty-one years ago)

You have met me, Ken. I was playing football with you in Green Park the other week.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Monday, 10 May 2004 09:12 (twenty-one years ago)

They are fatastic photos - especially the beach ones. yay beach!

cis (cis), Monday, 10 May 2004 10:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Great photos! I like all the colour blurriness. What excuse did Lixi give when she phoned in. Was it the classic Sickness & Diarrhoea or something more imaginative?

Madchen (Madchen), Monday, 10 May 2004 11:31 (twenty-one years ago)

omg that was you???? in which case oops! sorry i guess we weren't introduced properly either that or that i had too much of that bottle of wine - were you the guy with the fancy footwork and with whom i had a very brief keepie-uppie run with during the kickabout? (just after the mysterious chinese bloke joined in?)

ach i hope to see you again next time then!

ken c (ken c), Monday, 10 May 2004 11:43 (twenty-one years ago)

lixi had "migrane". all time favourite

xpost

ken c (ken c), Monday, 10 May 2004 11:45 (twenty-one years ago)

i actually was genuinely ill and still am now. what do they call that again? oh yes, Bastard's Law

stevem (blueski), Monday, 10 May 2004 11:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Ken, we need Las Vegas action soon, we do :)

Sarah (starry), Monday, 10 May 2004 11:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I love your jacket, ken c, and your photos. Maybe I should try England for a bit this summer. I've never punted, but always wanted to.

Cathy (Cathy), Monday, 10 May 2004 11:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Cathy, yes! England has definitely got to be tried more! and punting.

and Las Vegas must also be tried! I need to perfect 2-padding so as to not put shame to the oriental communities of the world.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 10 May 2004 11:58 (twenty-one years ago)

actually.. is the walk from warren street to las vegas a long one (haha?), one of these mondays i think the following should happen

1. Prince of Wale's Feathers for £1 pints, then
2. Las Vegas £1 a game of Bemani Extravaganza.

omg.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 10 May 2004 12:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Kate - if we had a Cambridge fap we could go to the rainbow cafe! ;-)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 10 May 2004 12:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I posted earlier about how I wanted a Cambridge FAP, but it was eaten, and I couldn't get back onto ILX for hours. Sigh.

Super-Kate (kate), Monday, 10 May 2004 13:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, death on a skoolnight there, marvellous! (Yeah ok but when I have a bit more dosh!)

Sarah (starry), Monday, 10 May 2004 13:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Well I'd be up for it, but then I would say that!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 10 May 2004 13:05 (twenty-one years ago)

My assistant used to work in the Fishbowl, I've just discovered. Blimey small world etc.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 10 May 2004 13:19 (twenty-one years ago)

you have an assistant? wtf?

colette (a2lette), Monday, 10 May 2004 13:56 (twenty-one years ago)

his name is Thibault. he gets a shiny penny provided he remain under the desk at all times.

stevem (blueski), Monday, 10 May 2004 13:57 (twenty-one years ago)

aw lovely pixors kids/ken, sorry i missed what looks like a fun day out. especially fond of the collision/colettion/colizion collection...

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Monday, 10 May 2004 14:02 (twenty-one years ago)

"remain under the desk"

Madchen (Madchen), Monday, 10 May 2004 14:02 (twenty-one years ago)

What, doesn't everybody have a gentleman's gentleman?

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Monday, 10 May 2004 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

i've just been told i should hire a minion. where can i get one on a charity salary? and they have to have size 8 feet, because a primary job function is breaking in my new shoes.

pinkpanther...we were talking about punting on saturday and everything. i think there is certainly a day out to see you looming...are you afraid?

colette (a2lette), Monday, 10 May 2004 14:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Nope, I can't wait! If I've got a house sorted by then (don't ask!!) then you're all welcome round!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 10 May 2004 14:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think we should do the Cambridge punting thing until July at the earliest, as everything is looking kinda mental before then and we might have a better chance of decent weather (ie I want to spend time lounging by the river the sun and drinking wine).

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 10 May 2004 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

in the mean time we should visit hampstead and try things.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 10 May 2004 14:43 (twenty-one years ago)

haha I think I was thinking of this only in a hoody. http://us.ent4.yimg.com/movies.yahoo.com/images/hv/photo/movie_pix/universal_pictures/mystery_men/janeane_garofalo/mm.jpg

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 10 May 2004 14:46 (twenty-one years ago)

does anyone have any carnivals near them anytime soon? i love love them and i think we should go to more places that 1) have candy floss 2) have donuts 3)injure/bruise you and you pay them and it's called 'fun' 4) win cute stuffed toys to beat up.

when i wrote that, i realised it sounds like shopping at target. but they don't have those here! so a carnival it should be...

(xpost-- am i the skull or JG?)

colette (a2lette), Monday, 10 May 2004 14:47 (twenty-one years ago)

JG standing on the skull.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 10 May 2004 14:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Blackheath has a fairground just about every other week in summer. If we're lucky there might be a circus too. And its ideal for both sitting around on the grass picnic events and pub drinking. I'd been thinking of organising something at some point if people can be arsed to go down there on a Saturday.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 10 May 2004 14:50 (twenty-one years ago)

We have the most famous chelsea buns shop which, I can assure you, are to die for!! July would be better for me. I want you lot to come to cambridge godamnit!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 10 May 2004 14:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Yay FAP fun! I live vicariously again (but ChakiFest was just as grand obv.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 10 May 2004 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned come over to Cambridge!!!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 10 May 2004 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I will yet visit the environs.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 10 May 2004 15:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Yay!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 10 May 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

i will come to blackheath on a saturday or sunday.

does it count as an out-of-town trip?

i don't like circuses nearly as much as carnivals, so don't worry about that...

colette (a2lette), Monday, 10 May 2004 15:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Looking in certain directions whilst in Blackheath you think you could be in the country, so I say it counts as out of town.

Mooro (Mooro), Monday, 10 May 2004 15:14 (twenty-one years ago)

It's ten minutes from London Bridge, hardly the sticks really. This might be good for the August bank holiday weekend if its still half decent by then.

But yeah, it does look like you're in the middle of nowhere from some directions.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 10 May 2004 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

you just want to be able to walk home from a FAP for once admit it

stevem (blueski), Monday, 10 May 2004 15:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, there's that too.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 10 May 2004 15:23 (twenty-one years ago)

not if we buy him the "D"s

ken c (ken c), Monday, 10 May 2004 15:23 (twenty-one years ago)

who wants to go to Transforce 2004 0n 28th August in Croydon?

jel -- (jel), Monday, 10 May 2004 15:25 (twenty-one years ago)

http://www.dotphoto.com/Go.asp?l=a2lette&P=&AID=1514050&GID=781183&T=1

not as many as ken, but some decent action shots of the roller coaster...

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 13:17 (twenty-one years ago)

i've also just added an album of my homeless fap, including some pics of kate and the infamous 'most canadian welshman'...

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 13:33 (twenty-one years ago)

hmmm. do we need a password to see those pics properly, Colette? I clicked on the amusing-looking "haha we've got different bodies haha" pic but was DENIED, for shame...

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 14:50 (twenty-one years ago)

hrm. should be. i'll check to make sure i didn't do anything requiring a password...

i think it's worked for other people. can anyone else see these or should i try to find another link or something?

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 14:54 (twenty-one years ago)

worked, for me.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 14:55 (twenty-one years ago)

me also.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 14:55 (twenty-one years ago)

charlie, the website seems to know what your deviant mind wanted to do with that picture of stevem in a diving suit...

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 14:57 (twenty-one years ago)

also, interesting to note that people can rank the photos out of 5 stars!

(i think the pics from the homeless fap are better than brighton, but that might just be me)

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 14:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Notice how the native Brightonian cannot be seen anywhere near the sea in these pics... to know it, is to fear it. Or something.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

i think the pics from the homeless fap are better than brighton

B-b-but... the picture of my glorious victory!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 15:07 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, matt. except the picture of your glorious victory. of course.

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

what we need is a server where ILXers can host all their images on freely. if only someone could provide such a thing........

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

the Interweb HATES ME!

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 15:15 (twenty-one years ago)

stevem otm

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

esp good if it's possible to submit files by email - it will open up all the photoshopping at work possibilities for the likes of me with goddam firewalls at the office network.

or i can just do work instead i guess....
