Recently, Aja.

Are these the noms for the ILX 1000 Oscars?

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 1 March 2004 16:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Sick Nick usually cranks my Model T.

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Monday, 1 March 2004 16:57 (twenty-one years ago)

i think hanel y still. although we don't see him much anymore.

Viva La Sam (thatgirl), Monday, 1 March 2004 16:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I hate to say this, but it's N.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Monday, 1 March 2004 16:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Lets run a few ILE 1000 Oscar nom threads, for the heck of it...

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 1 March 2004 16:59 (twenty-one years ago)

hanle y's penis is fancy
stevem often gets me a-rollin'
huckle-buck often gimmes the chuckles
alex in nyc makes me sputter coffee consistently
the jess/strife tag team is unbeatable however

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 1 March 2004 16:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Dave Q ownz

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Monday, 1 March 2004 16:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 1 March 2004 17:00 (twenty-one years ago)

these threads make me want to do some sick in the toilet.

g-kit (g-kit), Monday, 1 March 2004 17:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Nickalicious's post reads like a terrible answer song to 'The Luckiest Guy On The Lower East Side'.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 1 March 2004 17:01 (twenty-one years ago)

rjg

Eyeball Kicks (Eyeball Kicks), Monday, 1 March 2004 17:02 (twenty-one years ago)

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 1 March 2004 17:03 (twenty-one years ago)

and RJG, yeah.

"Here comes a fat man"!!! haha

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 1 March 2004 17:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh man, when Ally is pissed off at something, she is an unstoppable riot. The pizza thread was out of control. And her email handles are the icing.

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Monday, 1 March 2004 17:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I adore JBR's handles more than anybody else's.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Monday, 1 March 2004 17:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Jess can be damn funny as well, but Ally still wears the tiara.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 1 March 2004 17:07 (twenty-one years ago)

since i like toilet humor i nominate dan and bryan

Chris V (Chris V), Monday, 1 March 2004 17:08 (twenty-one years ago)

there are a LOT of funny motherfuckers on here, though

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Monday, 1 March 2004 17:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally's email addresses push her up and over the top, no contest. They're like the Aragones drawings in the margins of MAD Magazine, a lagniappe of funny.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 1 March 2004 17:12 (twenty-one years ago)

lagniappe!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 1 March 2004 17:14 (twenty-one years ago)

The extra donut, the second encore, the stew meat the butcher throws in with the steaks. More funny same price!

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 1 March 2004 17:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Hanle y

jel -- (jel), Monday, 1 March 2004 17:20 (twenty-one years ago)

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 1 March 2004 17:57 (twenty-one years ago)

References to City Guys are important.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 1 March 2004 18:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I fear teledildonics.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Monday, 1 March 2004 18:01 (twenty-one years ago)

El Diablo is pretty fucking funny, in an understated, deadpan way.

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 1 March 2004 18:01 (twenty-one years ago)

a little shout-out for Jeanne Fury

Begs2Differ (Begs2Differ), Monday, 1 March 2004 18:02 (twenty-one years ago)

somebody dig up that hanel y thread where he says he is our god. it was genius. and also saw the birth of the chickenbear.

Viva La Sam (thatgirl), Monday, 1 March 2004 18:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I think RJG. Or Stevem. Or Tep.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 1 March 2004 18:04 (twenty-one years ago)

trife, ally, and daveq really take the cake.

Felonious Drunk (Felcher), Monday, 1 March 2004 18:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 1 March 2004 19:14 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, that guy.

also shout out to random googlers too.

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 1 March 2004 19:17 (twenty-one years ago)

MikeyG and Lynskey are consisently pretty funny even though they post relatively rarely. There's too much love for the big boys and not enough for the plucky underdogs on this thread.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 1 March 2004 19:19 (twenty-one years ago)

i nominate tracer hand

amateur!st (amateurist), Monday, 1 March 2004 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Luna and Raggett represent SoCal hilarity rather well. Geir makes me laugh a lot for reasons unintended!

Gear! (Gear!), Monday, 1 March 2004 19:26 (twenty-one years ago)

god the phrase "socal hilarity" makes me tremble

amateur!st (amateurist), Monday, 1 March 2004 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I read that as "social hilarity"

C J (C J), Monday, 1 March 2004 19:28 (twenty-one years ago)

tremble with anticipation I can only assume!

Gear! (Gear!), Monday, 1 March 2004 19:30 (twenty-one years ago)

FOR RILLZ YO

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 1 March 2004 19:37 (twenty-one years ago)

You know, I can't pick just one... y'all are some funny motherfuckers.

Tep, Dan, Jeanne, Ally, Bryan, Crudders, Nickalicious, NA (we forgot NA!!), Hanle y, chaki, jody consistently cracks me up, Martin gets in there with really dry things once in awhile, kate makes me laugh, stevem is funny as hell - I WILL NOT BE LIMITED!

luna (luna.c), Monday, 1 March 2004 19:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh yeah, Crudders and Chris V. with the photoshoppery = comedy GOLD.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 1 March 2004 19:43 (twenty-one years ago)

You know, I can't pick just one...

Very true, which is why I haven't selected a candidate.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 1 March 2004 19:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Dan Perry!

latebloomer (latebloomer), Monday, 1 March 2004 19:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't believe I forgot NA, who should have been my first choice. Thank you to Luna, who also has her moments, for reminding me!

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 1 March 2004 20:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I apologize. I meant "oops" as in "oops I wish I hadn't mentioned ORNALDO BLOOMPS as that thread will be reopened and ruined by the world's least funny."

dean! (deangulberry), Monday, 1 March 2004 20:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Geir to thread!

Nick H (Nick H), Monday, 1 March 2004 20:36 (twenty-one years ago)

STARRY SARAH (nobody mentioned her so far? woah)

POPE PERRY

MILLALLY (e-mail addresses so good i ripped them off completely)

JESSTRIFE

CHRIS V & SEAN C PHOTOSHOP DOUBLE WHAMMERS

RONAN

and the winner is:

us all

stevem (blueski), Monday, 1 March 2004 20:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd like to mention Gareth in his very dry ironic mode. One to Calum about the value of making friends on ILE was a masterpiece.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 1 March 2004 20:45 (twenty-one years ago)

MILLALLY

That could be a Cocteau Twins songtitle.

"Mill-Mill-Millally-ly-ly..."

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 1 March 2004 20:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Man, I've been posting lame-o jokes for 3 years now, and all I get is bitterness and regret. Alone on a sea of ennui :( I mean my sidewiped your arse didn't make the funny thread! What is up with that!?! I mean, I know sometimes the words don't come out right, or I delete my biting moments of wit.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 1 March 2004 20:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I forgot about that, Gareth is very funny. I think that's why I dislike lists and these types of threads in general, so easy to forget someone.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 1 March 2004 20:48 (twenty-one years ago)

sideswiped, I mean.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 1 March 2004 20:48 (twenty-one years ago)

i think i left out Gareth on purpose - he probably despises this thread.

what about most consistently funny ILXer in REAL LIFE/THE FLESH - i have to say Idiot Pete Baran and Lixi do it for me there

stevem (blueski), Monday, 1 March 2004 20:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought it was a shoe-in.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 20:51 (twenty-one years ago)

On a few occasions Ronan has made me laugh longer than any other ILXor. I ought to say a word for Michael Jones, also, but I fear he is a minority taste round these parts (to the detriment of the boards, I must say).

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Monday, 1 March 2004 20:54 (twenty-one years ago)

she doesn't post anymore, but felicity was the most consistently hilarious person on ILX.

spencer chow is very funny as well.

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 1 March 2004 20:56 (twenty-one years ago)

No one has mentioned Spencer and bnw, and only one person mentioned Tracer Hand, and I think that is sad.

haha XPOST.

Allyzay, Monday, 1 March 2004 20:56 (twenty-one years ago)

she doesn't post anymore, but felicity was the most consistently hilarious person on ILX.

I remember thinking yesterday what a pity it was felicity doesn't post anymore.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 1 March 2004 20:57 (twenty-one years ago)

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 1 March 2004 20:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Mark S is funny, I wish he'd start posting again. Yeah, it's a shame felicity don't post no more. Thanks music mole!

jel -- (jel), Monday, 1 March 2004 21:00 (twenty-one years ago)

and Mark P!

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 1 March 2004 21:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I am saving my votes for Felicity, Tracer, EDR, Mark S. etc for the inevitable 'Most Valued ILX Poster' thread. They got more than just laffs.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Monday, 1 March 2004 21:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I am soooooo not the funniest poster here! And that IS sad.

gareth is far funnier than we even realize.

I think I nominated N. back when we presented doofy undeserved awards for this kind of thing.

(pouts)

xpost (beams!!!!)

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 1 March 2004 21:02 (twenty-one years ago)

the ian/jon monstar

dean! (deangulberry), Monday, 1 March 2004 21:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Jon Williams.

Hey, what about the antipodeans?? Throw us a bone ya tossers.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 1 March 2004 21:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh geez please no most valued poster thread! It'll be an even bigger dent to my self-esteem than high school.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 1 March 2004 21:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I enjoy Ally's beatdowns, Jess's beatdowns, Felicity's puns, Tracer's interjections, Tombot's playwriting, Dan's ass-play, Gareth's disguised beatdowns, d k, amazing randy, more to come...

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 1 March 2004 21:05 (twenty-one years ago)

"COMO SE DICE, BUUUSHEET" is like the funniest thing I've ever read, Tracer, wtf are you talking about.

Allyzay, Monday, 1 March 2004 21:06 (twenty-one years ago)

also: cinniblount.

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 1 March 2004 21:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Tad!

jel -- (jel), Monday, 1 March 2004 21:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm here basically because most regulars are pretty witty/funny.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 1 March 2004 21:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Julio!

jel -- (jel), Monday, 1 March 2004 21:15 (twenty-one years ago)

more 'in the flesh' answers - it's interesting that some people tend to be much funnier online, perhaps where they are freer of inhibitions

stevem (blueski), Monday, 1 March 2004 21:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I feel more inhibited on the net, to be honest.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 1 March 2004 21:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Tracer is my favorite wizened biker dude. Jel is my favorite librarian.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 1 March 2004 21:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Larcole! (even though she says such mean things about Spongebob Squarepants.)

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 1 March 2004 21:22 (twenty-one years ago)

'mean' means 'perfectly accurate' in this case, correct?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 1 March 2004 21:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Eisbär is my favorite Patrick Swayze fancier. I am just making up categories now, the Oscars damaged my brain more severely than it was damaged before.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 1 March 2004 21:23 (twenty-one years ago)

a flock of nedgulls!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 1 March 2004 21:24 (twenty-one years ago)

yay ESOJ!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 1 March 2004 21:31 (twenty-one years ago)

i'll agree, since your "bigamy" quip makes me laugh every time i go to the newest incarnation of the circle jerk. triple x-post

Felonious Drunk (Felcher), Monday, 1 March 2004 21:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I also forgot about ken. I hate this list. I shouldn't have started on it.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 1 March 2004 23:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Daddino, Dan Perry

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 1 March 2004 23:32 (twenty-one years ago)

*Gear!, certainly

Francis Watlington (Francis Watlington), Monday, 1 March 2004 23:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Anthony's musical tastes are a laff-riot.

limpbizkitbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Kiwi! Although I guess he's not a regular poster unless the thread features some sort of religious discussion.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:45 (twenty-one years ago)

i think the whole Ronan/Gareth Omnipotent Baby thing from a year ago is still brilliant. i like most of the posters here. tombot and miccio win the drunken dancing award though, as far as i know (i havent see you all dance drunk).

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:52 (twenty-one years ago)

(haha I went to party this weekend and evidently there will be new pictures of me dancing drunk online very soon. I'll make sure to put one on the What Do You Look Like thread)

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Stuart, god bless him!

haha very funny

Stuart (Stuart), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 01:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I feel all warm inside that people think I'm funny. Seriously. I am such a fucking dork.

I think Hanle y is probably the most consistently funny person on ILX, but his humor is so genius that I'm intimidated by it, and I don't so much laugh as just say "Holy shit."

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 01:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Dorks are totally awesome dude. Except LOTR dorks, that's gay.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 2 March 2004 01:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I will cast Elvish spells on you, she-heathen

Gear! (Gear!), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 01:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 01:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, don't worry, my sister got an elf tattoo, y'all can go mack daddy on her ass, it's cool

Allyzay, Tuesday, 2 March 2004 01:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally's "sister"

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 01:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Oooh you bitch!

Allyzay, Tuesday, 2 March 2004 01:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Very well

Gear! (Gear!), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 01:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 11:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Jess, Dan, Blount, Steve (every so often), d k, trife, did I mention Jess? Oh, and I laugh at myself once in a while, does that count?

Barima (Barima), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

"andy (lookout/grasshopper)"

Yea, Andy is pretty underrated. I think he's GRATE.

Francis Watlington (Francis Watlington), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Andy's kinda new, no? Very funny.

I can't believe nobody's mentioned W1ntermute dude yet. Or Spinktor. Have none of you seen the FLUFF BLITZKRIEG thread?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 14:01 (twenty-one years ago)

that sounds perverted now. (apt i guess)

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 14:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I remember a time when Sinkah was king - killing with his syntax. Dastoor has the fleetest of comic feet since prime Monkhouse. If only I'd lived long enough to see them do a tap routine together.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 14:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Duane's post on albums that end in an amazing way (ILM obv) is pretty much the funniest thing I've ever read on ILX, tho Ned's Denzel Washington line from many ages ago comes pretty close

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't even remember that! What did I say?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

From memory "Tom Hanks plays a lawyer stricken w/AIDS, Denzel Washington plays an actor trying to win an Oscar" tho it was MUCH funnier (to me anyway) in context. I don't remember even vaguely what thread it was off, tho! I think of it pretty much every time I hear about a 'Cold Mountain' style OSCAR MOVIE

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

(Not that I have anything against those really, sometimes I love them. I was THRILLED by LOTR's Oscar performance tho, and I barely noticed the NZ thing)

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 14:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Unfortunately, EVERY Tom Hanks film is Tom Hanks trying to win an Oscar. Its why he makes films.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 14:28 (twenty-one years ago)

go for the gold baby!

cinniblount (James Blount), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Steve Guttenberg: Did Tom Hanks steal his career?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 14:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I was so mortified the night I was so out of it that I confused Steve Buscemi with Steve Guttenberg in an ilx chat.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 14:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Police Academy would be a much different film.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 17:05 (twenty-one years ago)

OR WOULD IT

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 17:19 (twenty-one years ago)

The only people who think I'm funny are those who've met me in real life. Maybe this means you have to imagine my stupid face saying them, or maybe this means we r all clicky wankers.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 18:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I think you are funny, but it's not like I would go out of my way to say so.

dave q makes me laugh the most, followed by cinniblount.

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 18:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Sigh. This thread only reinforces my insistence that I don't have a sense of humour.

(And it's not just sour grapes, thanks to the person that namechecked me!)

The things that are classed as "humour" on ILX just repeatedly fly over my head or fail to interest me. The things that make me laugh like a drain, or make me actually go "hrmmm" and think, don't even make the list.

or maybe this is just another not-at-all-veiled popularity contest thingey and humour and my lack of it just don't come into it at all.

The River Kate (kate), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 19:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Gear! (Gear!), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 20:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Some of this thread is funny.

I disagree with most of you, or many of you.

Is N's face stupid? Or is it just pretty? Or is it both at different times?

Mike is correct to say that N's ilx wit does not belong to his real-life style, only to these pages.

Julio's comment is generous. I appreciate what he says.

On a few occasions Ronan has made me laugh longer than any other ILXor.

I don't understand this comment from JtN.

I ought to say a word for Michael Jones, also, but I fear he is a minority taste round these parts (to the detriment of the boards, I must say).

Mike *is* the funniest poster on ilx - or rather, he is the best *comic writer* to have contributed to it. Possibly, though, he cannot be considered 'regular'. Possibly he would not want to.

Besides him, murmur name on name: Q, N, JtN, RJG.

There is a band called Oh My God, w/crazy distorto keyboard, they are adequate.

christhamrin (christhamrin), Friday, 5 March 2004 01:41 (twenty-one years ago)

eleven years pass...

the world moves on and the most consistently funny posters of ilx move on with the times. the only constant is that the it is not and never has been me.

you may find that other ilxorss differ with your assessment. this is only natural and to be expected, given the catholic breadth of tastes among us.

sufjan grafton & goon is a neck & neck race imo we might need some sort of highlander type fight to settle this

slothroprhymes, Friday, 17 April 2015 03:21 (ten years ago)

Wow you're an awful person if you think sufjan is anywhere close to the level of goon

slothroprhymes, Friday, 17 April 2015 03:42 (ten years ago)

did sufjan grafton ever post under another name? i've never noticed a schtick or really anything distinctive tbh

drash, Friday, 17 April 2015 08:26 (ten years ago)

big part of my ilx lols are image-based or mix of word & image; so would nominate among others gr8080, pplains, and dayo

drash, Friday, 17 April 2015 10:09 (ten years ago)

(ps no question lagoon, estela, & sufjan are the frontrunners, with lagoon as hillary; just thought i'd mention some nonestablishment candidates as well)

What I said was there was a divide between the US/UK, as in what they seem to find funny, I didn't say which side was 'funnier'. Though, I agree with doglatin that a lot of the time I have no idea what US posters are talking about, funny or not.

Quack and Merkt (Tom D.), Friday, 17 April 2015 16:00 (ten years ago)

was this calling me a creep? namaste i suppose either way.

lj v gracious as always here - tho ilx is the place i feel least funny in a life where humour is usually the most solid crutch.

lagoon's laconic no punctuation posts are always funny, nakh doesn't necessarily make me laugh except in a bitter nod of acknowledgement way but that's prob a version of humour, deems is a master of the ilx format. there are probably shards of certain excelsiored comments stuck in my mind for years.
