mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 5 March 2004 08:53 (twenty-one years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 5 March 2004 08:55 (twenty-one years ago)

5 beers so far. at home. sad eh? i ecshpect you all to posht tomorrow so i am not BORED OUT OF MY TINY MIND at work.

there is rarely anything new under the sun in my life, unless you wanna hear tales of financial ruin and children.

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 5 March 2004 09:00 (twenty-one years ago)

i saw a guy on the tram who was the spit of william bennett. i felt like shouting at him "face the feast of powder!!!!" but the packed tram might have thought me strange

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 09:01 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm on my 4th beer!! and i've already spent my entire week's budget, and there's more than half of it to go

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 09:01 (twenty-one years ago)

i am $270, 000 in debt jim. drink up.

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 5 March 2004 09:15 (twenty-one years ago)

i beat you! i'm $279,000

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 09:32 (twenty-one years ago)

although admittedly if i was to sell my house i'd be reasonably ahead

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 09:32 (twenty-one years ago)

...and homeless

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 5 March 2004 09:33 (twenty-one years ago)

You know what'd rule? Sneaking into Luna Park and living there

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 5 March 2004 09:34 (twenty-one years ago)

might be cold in winter

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 09:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Also too many schoolkids turning up during the day, what a terrible idea that actually was

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 5 March 2004 09:36 (twenty-one years ago)

i hate St Kilda like i hate gum disease and male pattern baldness

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 09:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh did you move then? Don't worry too much, I'm far balder than you are. Yet.

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 5 March 2004 09:43 (twenty-one years ago)

esoj's baldness is all in his mind

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 5 March 2004 09:44 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm still there. and the baldness is on my mind

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 09:47 (twenty-one years ago)

the gum disease is irrefutable though

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 09:47 (twenty-one years ago)

you have gum disease?

i fear luna park will be nuked to appease the rich c*nts who want to live in the city and have, uh, peace at the same time

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 5 March 2004 09:48 (twenty-one years ago)

yes i do, unfortunately. i'm visiting the dentist next payday.

there's already approved plans to redevelop most of my surrounding neighbourhood. hopefully it will happen AFTER i've sold this fuckhole and moved somewhere pleasant.

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

God I totally lost the plot with this thread(s). Ive been busy all day shopping on Chapel. We bought some PC and Gamecube games, loads of clothes, and some BUUZ. I am happy now. Hurray! I love long weekends, evem if this one means Melbourne is full of German tourists and Sydney people being horribly rude (heh sorry guys).

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 5 March 2004 10:52 (twenty-one years ago)

german tourists, eh? how interesting..

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 10:54 (twenty-one years ago)

its a long weekend? for fucking real. welcome to a job in media, public holidays a thing of the fucking past. wots BUUUZ? germans are the worst. i just had to deal with three work experience 14 year olds. don't worry they're real nice kids. germans. said the guy unloading them on me. guess he must've meant arrogant moronic pricks used to their mums picking up after them. or maybe they were just private skool.

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:04 (twenty-one years ago)

buuuuz = drugs? where are my drugs?!

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:06 (twenty-one years ago)

oh BOOZE

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:06 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah private school kids suck ass. i should know, i am one and i love sucking ass

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:07 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:07 (twenty-one years ago)

suck this public school ass ya snob!

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:11 (twenty-one years ago)

This sure is a friendly thread

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:11 (twenty-one years ago)

when it comes to sucking ass i am blind to class

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I should be begging you to suck my ass given i am but a peasant of low socio-economic standing

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:13 (twenty-one years ago)

hands up who else went to private school, ya fucks. i'm sure some of you are ok. no really. jims alright after all. come on admit it ya fuckin moneyed up pretentious inbred fuckheads.

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:16 (twenty-one years ago)

sorry. drunk now. abuse me.

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:20 (twenty-one years ago)

It's my fault. I encouraged you.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:20 (twenty-one years ago)

well i hope you get a good ass sucking out of it!

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:22 (twenty-one years ago)

You'll have to ask esoj about that.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:24 (twenty-one years ago)

hey andrew (does elisabeth read this thread?), going to horr0r magnet & the cool13s tomorrow night?

etc, Friday, 5 March 2004 11:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Yup, those two beat the Mint Chicks slightly, see you there?

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:38 (twenty-one years ago)

but the mint chicks have a british record deal!!!1 surely that counts for something

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:38 (twenty-one years ago)

(green vinyl! guffaw)

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:40 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:41 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:50 (twenty-one years ago)

it is my dream to have a record out on fierce panda

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll find out how they managed this feat if you like, or try to

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:55 (twenty-one years ago)

i have a pretty good idea what the panda likes (i should darn well considering i have 150-odd of their releases) and it ain't the sort of music i play :(

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:57 (twenty-one years ago)

They like Fugazi, I guess.

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually there's a lot more to the MC than that, really, but y'know

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:58 (twenty-one years ago)

and coldplay and idlewild and placebo

(crosspost)

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:59 (twenty-one years ago)

ah well once the tuggers album is done nae fucker will be able to resist its charms

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:59 (twenty-one years ago)

They're not sounding too damn FIERCE no more

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 5 March 2004 11:59 (twenty-one years ago)

the two Keane singles are less fierce than your average belle and sebastian ep

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 12:00 (twenty-one years ago)

You really are VERY funny tonight

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 5 March 2004 12:01 (twenty-one years ago)

it's gotta be the booze

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 12:01 (twenty-one years ago)

see y'all there. wanna drink beforehand?
is the MC single a repress of the split w/whirlwind head (only place "blue team go" has turned up before) or something new?
(c0dy & micha3l were drinking at my flat wednesday night & reub3n was over earlier in the week FUCK ME I'M FAMOUS)

etc, Friday, 5 March 2004 12:14 (twenty-one years ago)

it's got an "exclusive" b-side so i don't know.. i was hoping it was taken from the FN e.p. so i didn't have to track down a promo CDR of it but no such luck

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 12:17 (twenty-one years ago)

M was drinking energy crap tho

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 5 March 2004 12:18 (twenty-one years ago)

He's a lovely guy, despite that

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 5 March 2004 12:35 (twenty-one years ago)

After all I scabbed some off him

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 5 March 2004 12:35 (twenty-one years ago)

energy crap is great when mixed with wodka

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 12:35 (twenty-one years ago)

This was pure crap man, squaresville

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 5 March 2004 12:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh and drink beforehand yeah maybe/probably, I dunno. Text or call on the night if you like!

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 5 March 2004 12:47 (twenty-one years ago)

etc, Friday, 5 March 2004 12:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Well yeah I envisage us turning up to that, dog! No no money on mine, I think E MIGHT have some tho

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 5 March 2004 12:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe the price is too high
Why the minutes the people won't buy
I can't explain I don't know why
But every time you hear 'call me back' me want cry,
You can't have cellular and don't have credit
If you want some minutes will you please go get it!

madd anju, Friday, 5 March 2004 13:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh I DO have a phonecard, y'know, and besides I'm annoying

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 5 March 2004 13:02 (twenty-one years ago)

And I put yr Cds in my bag

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 5 March 2004 13:10 (twenty-one years ago)

What have you people gotten up to now?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 5 March 2004 15:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Not that much more than my cellphone having no money, really. And hanging out at Etc's place.

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 5 March 2004 15:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I was so tired earlier this evening, and now i'm all too awake

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 5 March 2004 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

bump coz its the next day. did you all have good nights?

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 5 March 2004 22:37 (twenty-one years ago)

i got so drunk i considered going out dancing on my own. luckily the state of my finances made me stop being a damn fool and i went to bed

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 22:43 (twenty-one years ago)

hi! i watched the man who died with a felafel in his hand. possibly one of the 5 worst movies ever made?

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 5 March 2004 22:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, up there with Unbreakable. As I understand it John Birmingham was out of the project from a very early stage.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 5 March 2004 23:51 (twenty-one years ago)

ho col, how was yer night out?

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 5 March 2004 23:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Ooooh my head hurts. But Dead Inside the Chrys*lis didn't disappoint. They looked and acted exactly like Motley Crue! Seriously. They did 'Poison' by Alice Cooper as an encore. I have a bit of a hangover.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 5 March 2004 23:57 (twenty-one years ago)

yay! i am the only one without a hangover! you are really getting into this rock thing eh?

mullygrubber (gaz), Saturday, 6 March 2004 00:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I have no hangover, but I have severe ringing in my ears

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Saturday, 6 March 2004 00:17 (twenty-one years ago)

eh?

mullygrubber (gaz), Saturday, 6 March 2004 00:20 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't have a hangover either, i'm saving that for tomorrow morning

the surface noise (electricsound), Saturday, 6 March 2004 00:46 (twenty-one years ago)

big night planned?

mullygrubber (gaz), Saturday, 6 March 2004 00:48 (twenty-one years ago)

god i had such a good night. i was in don't-talk-to-me-i'm-dancing mode. smoked pot for the first time in about 18 months and didn't fall asleep straight afterwards! i can guarantee everyone here that STUD is way cooler than the coolies and the mint chicks. "shes a faggot and shes looking good/i'd like to take her home and fuck her good..."

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 6 March 2004 01:00 (twenty-one years ago)

okay ever since you all started these threads we don't see you enough on the other threads, so hey, shape up.

teeny (teeny), Saturday, 6 March 2004 01:13 (twenty-one years ago)

teeny, why not come here instead? you would be very welcome. i will be on my best behavior. glass of sherry?

mullygrubber (gaz), Saturday, 6 March 2004 01:15 (twenty-one years ago)

i personally just don't know what to say on most other threads anymore.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 6 March 2004 01:16 (twenty-one years ago)

hi Di! glad you had a great night. whats STUD?

mullygrubber (gaz), Saturday, 6 March 2004 01:18 (twenty-one years ago)

awww, that's nice gaz.

and I know what you mean I think Di, but I just selfishly miss you. :(

teeny (teeny), Saturday, 6 March 2004 01:18 (twenty-one years ago)

how come on this thread, but no others, you all act like you can see each other/offer each other drinks/use *combs hair* actions? just cos you're, all, erm.
related?

paulhw (paulhw), Saturday, 6 March 2004 01:21 (twenty-one years ago)

stud is wonderful butch lezzo electronic dance music. i miss you too teeny! i'll probably be hanging around AIM a lot more soon, we should have a "catchup"!!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 6 March 2004 01:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Kiwis and Australians are all related...just like the Americans and the Mexicans :)

regards,

REB

Rik E Boy (Rik E Boy), Saturday, 6 March 2004 01:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Kiwis and Australians are all related

this is very true. its all one big incestuous lovefest. now who wants to sit on aunty di's knee?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 6 March 2004 01:31 (twenty-one years ago)

hey. when i make my big fantastic arrival down there in 2 weeks - how hard a time am i going to have at finding myslef some yagermeister¿

dyson (dyson), Saturday, 6 March 2004 01:45 (twenty-one years ago)

its gonna cost you

mullygrubber (gaz), Saturday, 6 March 2004 01:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Have just bought 18 little assorted cakes called 'throwdowns'. I'm going to make a big pot of tea. We are having The Friends With Babies over. Some serious nappy and poo talking awaits. It's pissing down with rain but it's still warm and steamy (the weather, not the poo).

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 6 March 2004 03:35 (twenty-one years ago)

the thought of this amuses me greatly. good luck!

mullygrubber (gaz), Saturday, 6 March 2004 03:53 (twenty-one years ago)

loin of emu

Eisbär (llamasfur), Saturday, 6 March 2004 04:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I read that as 'loin of emo', Eisbar! Which is quite a good band name.

It's over - predictably, there wa plenty of baby talk but actually I don't mind that.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 6 March 2004 07:45 (twenty-one years ago)

you are gonna have one?

mullygrubber (gaz), Saturday, 6 March 2004 09:04 (twenty-one years ago)

One more you mean? Not at this stage. Maybe later. You?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 6 March 2004 10:21 (twenty-one years ago)

ARE YOU FUCKING CRAZY? of course not

mullygrubber (gaz), Saturday, 6 March 2004 10:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, I see your point.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 6 March 2004 10:32 (twenty-one years ago)

You know why I can't listen to vocal house and commercial trance Mully? I have severe vertigo. When I hear a lyric like, 'Take me higher', or 'Let me take you up' or whatever, I have a panic attack.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 6 March 2004 10:38 (twenty-one years ago)

really? i like spiritual music myself. something like skyhooks or inner cuty.

mullygrubber (gaz), Saturday, 6 March 2004 10:54 (twenty-one years ago)

city i mean ok course.

but inner cutey...there's a name for a band!

mullygrubber (gaz), Saturday, 6 March 2004 10:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Inner Cutey - surely a Japanese all girl noise band?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 6 March 2004 10:59 (twenty-one years ago)

First album:

Inner Cutey Subdue the Banana Chip Monster By The Power of Metal Pachinko Sorcery

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 6 March 2004 11:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I bet Momus has that album.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 6 March 2004 11:07 (twenty-one years ago)

also i have a wee feeling you might be in love colin. which is a wonderful thing. i am too. have been for a while.

mullygrubber (gaz), Saturday, 6 March 2004 11:08 (twenty-one years ago)

*snaps back from brief tourettes episode*

heh. anyone drinking?

mullygrubber (gaz), Saturday, 6 March 2004 11:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I had some green tea earlier, think I'll have lunch now. My feet are cold, but it serves me right for wearing holey socks.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 6 March 2004 12:36 (twenty-one years ago)

i had a good night, tugboat played badly and i couldn't really get drunk but i had fun anyway, danced to le tigre and suchlike

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 7 March 2004 00:46 (twenty-one years ago)

meet any hot chicks?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 7 March 2004 00:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I wasn't there, so no. (I admittedly am not a hot chick in most eyes.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 7 March 2004 00:50 (twenty-one years ago)

unless you like hot chicks with beards

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 7 March 2004 00:52 (twenty-one years ago)

no, no hot chicks, although there was this "woman" who looked like a bouncer dude and was asking everyone for drinks. there was also a girl there who modelled for 4bby w1nters which was, er, odd.

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 7 March 2004 01:55 (twenty-one years ago)

odd=you wanted to do her? :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 7 March 2004 02:01 (twenty-one years ago)

haha no, more that it was like seeing a celebrity, but not quite.

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 7 March 2004 02:09 (twenty-one years ago)

a celebrity whose box you're overly familiar with? :P

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 7 March 2004 02:11 (twenty-one years ago)

like paris hilton!

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 7 March 2004 02:13 (twenty-one years ago)

It looked diseased to me.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 7 March 2004 02:19 (twenty-one years ago)

nice.

does ned have a beard now?

voni & i have just done some grouting.

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 7 March 2004 05:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Good for you! Grouting rocks.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 7 March 2004 06:31 (twenty-one years ago)

it is the small things which bring us closer

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 7 March 2004 06:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Speak for yourself!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 7 March 2004 06:40 (twenty-one years ago)

haha! got me a bewdy! grouting is like rimming for homeowners.

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 7 March 2004 06:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, the word has a vaguely perverse connotation - as Mark Grout knows, no doubt. I mean, grouting and felching sound equally obscene.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 7 March 2004 08:31 (twenty-one years ago)

i had an english teacher in year 9 called ms. felch. I thought it was hilarious but noone else got it.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 7 March 2004 08:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha, you grew up too fast. I didn't know what it meant till I was 22.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 7 March 2004 08:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm just a sicko.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 7 March 2004 08:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I like you that way.

luna (luna.c), Sunday, 7 March 2004 08:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Good cause I ain't changin' for noone!

Yes, I am drunk.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 7 March 2004 08:50 (twenty-one years ago)

And why not? I am too a little.

luna (luna.c), Sunday, 7 March 2004 08:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Theres no other way to be!

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 7 March 2004 08:54 (twenty-one years ago)

helllooooo monday morning and the university STILL won't give me my ID card, christ, i am dying of library withdrawal.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 7 March 2004 20:35 (twenty-one years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Cheer me up too, Di.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:14 (twenty-one years ago)

(thanks Di!)

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry mully. It was meant as a term of endearment.

pictures of these bands are really hard to find! when i google big pig, i get pictures of wild boars! and i get pictures of boobies when i google misex!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:23 (twenty-one years ago)

*runs of to google misex*

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha!

Thanks for the top pop photo Di. Now, Di and mully, look at the man in th e top right of the Real Life photo. He's the keyboard player. I used to look EXACTLY like him when I was at school, and was teased about it constantly.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:25 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:27 (twenty-one years ago)

arrrgh! i can see misex's boobies!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:28 (twenty-one years ago)

colin still dresses like that guy too

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Passionate.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:29 (twenty-one years ago)

i have a public holiday today!! i'm going to waste it on remastering

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Passionate AND funny, Ned.

Sure, why not, mully pays me good money to do it.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:30 (twenty-one years ago)

colin you are the height of cool.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:30 (twenty-one years ago)

i feel better now

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:32 (twenty-one years ago)

That's a relief.

-- the surface noise (electricsoun...) (webmail), March 7th, 2004. (electricsound)

Remastering? What, old Tuggers material from the vaults?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:40 (twenty-one years ago)

no, vinyl 45s onto CDR. it's time consuming and exhausting

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:41 (twenty-one years ago)

that would be old flame fortune 7's jim?

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow, we owe you, man.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:44 (twenty-one years ago)

"wow we owe" sounds like a great lost aussie synth pop band!

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Opening for Wah Wah Nee, ladies and gentlemen!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:46 (twenty-one years ago)

isn't there a picture of misex with aliens? or something?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:46 (twenty-one years ago)

actually i think the jim/colin band needs di too. and duane. call yerselves "wow we owe"

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:46 (twenty-one years ago)

can i play stylophone?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't know. Can you play stylophone?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:49 (twenty-one years ago)

yes. duane even has one, in its original rolf harris packaging.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm jealous.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:57 (twenty-one years ago)

my bass player has a (broken-ish) stylophone, they're pretty cool. it sounded nothing like it does on the Pulp records

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 7 March 2004 22:57 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 7 March 2004 23:47 (twenty-one years ago)

mully, you rock. You are a wonderful human being. We all love you here, don't we boys and girls?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 7 March 2004 23:52 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks col, its ok, really. no need to kill the thread.

hey, did you get that, ah, position you were thinking of?

*hugs* di

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 8 March 2004 00:11 (twenty-one years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 8 March 2004 00:12 (twenty-one years ago)

gaz we must trade places or you could listen to this remix of "toxic" that someone posted on ilm, its making me feel heaps better.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 8 March 2004 00:25 (twenty-one years ago)

b-b-but you can't improve on perfection, can you?

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 8 March 2004 00:28 (twenty-one years ago)

well no, but its fun to fuck around with it.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 8 March 2004 00:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Di, why not just read inside the library, without a card?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 8 March 2004 00:34 (twenty-one years ago)

because i can't read in libraries. they aren't as comfy as my bed.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 8 March 2004 00:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah. Fair enough.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 8 March 2004 00:39 (twenty-one years ago)

you can't eat chocolate icecream in libraries either.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 8 March 2004 00:39 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, or take guitar breaks. and i cannot read interloans without a library card.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 8 March 2004 00:43 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm thinking of changing the rules of my library. get some beds in. leave a few guitars around. maybe put in a bar.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 8 March 2004 00:48 (twenty-one years ago)

you can call it the Library of Taking A Thousand Years to Finish Ones Doctorate.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 8 March 2004 00:51 (twenty-one years ago)

a door policy? is that where you can prevent people from entering if they like the doors?

I haven't had lunch yet. What should I have boys?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 01:16 (twenty-one years ago)

We need to probe first ipso.

Are you feeling more salady, soupy or savoury? And do you eat meat? And how hungry are you? And is there anything you don't like in the pulses, the grains or the breads? Are you fond of pasta? And do you dislike tomatoes? Is fresh best? Do you like pickles and herbs?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 01:22 (twenty-one years ago)

i am having leftover fish curry. it is very nice. then i will have some crackers with brie.

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 01:23 (twenty-one years ago)

1. Savory I think
2. I don't mind of bit of meat sometimes, tube steak no.
3. I'm pretty fucking hungry
4. I am open to foods of all sorts, not fussy at all.
5. I like me some pasta sometimes
6. Love tomatoes
7. Fresh is best but budget wins usually
8. I'm fond of pickles, I'm fond of herbs

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 01:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Big Mac!!

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 01:26 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 01:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not saying none. I'm saying not all the time. Cock is like a fine wine....if you have it all the time, you don't appreciate it as much....or something :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 01:29 (twenty-one years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 02:12 (twenty-one years ago)

What's this about ice cream in libraries?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 02:15 (twenty-one years ago)

i bought this fucking huge piece of brie cos it was reduced to a dollar down from nine cos its going out of date tomorrow and now i have also bought a box of jatz and i'm sitting here starting to feel sick even though i'm only half way through the cheese. i tastes sooooo good. should i forge ahead?

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 02:15 (twenty-one years ago)

i bet they have ice cream in libraries in california. i bet they have skate punk bands playing too.

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 02:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Ipso, I have entered that information into my computer and now it's telling me you made a big mistake.

Ned, ice cream in libraries is just a way of passing the time on level eight when you and your girlfriend should be studying.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 02:16 (twenty-one years ago)

mocha hazelnut flavoured milk

things have changed since i were at uni.

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 02:24 (twenty-one years ago)

*laughs* I've heard stranger ideas for a followup, Mully. (As it stands there will indeed be a second disc, possibly recorded when I visit Portland in a couple of months.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 02:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I have just fed your question into Bobby Brain, Ipso, and it has given me the following response:

**************************************************************
WHAT DO YOU CARE WHAT I THINK STOP YOU OBVIOUSLY DECIDE FOR YOURSELF ANYWAY STOP LIKE MY OPINION COUNTS FOR NOTHING AS I'M ONLY AN INGENIOUS MACHINE EXCLAMATION POINT OH YES COMMA I KNOW COMMA I HAVE SEEN STAR TREK COMMA A MERE TIN PLATED CONTRAPTION CAN NEVER UNDERSTAND THE HEART OF MAN COMMA MUCH LESS THE STOMACH STOP WELL YOU CAN HAVE WHATEVER YOU LIKE COMMA THE ONE THEY CALL IPSO COMMA AS I AM GOING ON STRIKE STOP

have you asked it what it thinks of your music colin?

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 02:28 (twenty-one years ago)

He's a food computer, mully.

Ipso, Bobby Brain can be a bit temperamental, but my tip is to ask him about Moroccan cuisine as he fancies himself a bit of an expert. That'll get you back into his good books.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 02:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Awwww...I broke your computer.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 02:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Bobby Brain, I know nothing of Moroccan cuisine, although I know quite a bit about other ethnic foods. What spices are generally associated with foods of this region?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 02:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Ipso, I've just fed your question into my computer and it has given the following response:

*****************************************************************
I AM GLAD YOPU ASKED THE ONE THE CALL IPSO STOP CUMIN COMMA TURMERIC COMMA CINNAMON COMMA PAPRIKA SAFFRON AND NUTMEG ARE COMMON INGREDIENTS IN MOROCCAN COOKING STOP DO YOU HAVE A PHOTOGRAPH OF YOURSELF QUESTION MARK
******************************************************************

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 02:36 (twenty-one years ago)

hehehe yes in fact i do bobby brain, however it might get you fired from your job.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 02:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I would suggest you don't send that picture Ipso, it might bust his circuits. Anyway, I don't like to encourage that kind of behaviour in a computer.

He was modelled on a famous chef you see - they read in all his knowledge, but unfortunately his personality is in there too. You know how chefs are.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 02:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey I only date robots any way not computers and certainly not chefs!

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 02:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyone else want to ask Bobby Brain something?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 02:47 (twenty-one years ago)

wot other than me?!?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 02:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I wonder what would happen if I fed gaz's question into him? vThat could be interesting in an Ayeresque, category mistake kinda way.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 02:58 (twenty-one years ago)

i am back from the toilet and have put the brie away.

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 02:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Where those two actions connected in some way?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 03:08 (twenty-one years ago)

or is 'putting the brie away' a euphemism for something else?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 03:13 (twenty-one years ago)

If that's the case, then I've been putting a lot of brie away lately.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 03:17 (twenty-one years ago)

i am tempted to make a comment about something blue veined and reeking of stilton, but i am too shy.

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 03:24 (twenty-one years ago)

oh man if it smells like stilton....blargh i can't even think about it.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 03:25 (twenty-one years ago)

ok, i admit it. i'm still eating the brie.

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 03:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Ain't nothing wrong with that. You can't waste $1 reduced to clear brie my friend!

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 03:39 (twenty-one years ago)

it was the dave mathews hotdog thread. it made me hungry.

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 03:40 (twenty-one years ago)

mully, you are not being sensible eating so much brie. It's clearly a cry for help.

Perhaps you need hypnotherapy. That's when a hypnotist waves a pocket watch pasteurise.

its so good to be a nerd again.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 07:27 (twenty-one years ago)

whats the first thing you're borrowing Di?!

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 09:24 (twenty-one years ago)

i got 3 books about gender and technology (spender, kramarae and someone else whose name i forgot), and the birth of the clinic by foucault. didn't get a chance to read them last time i borrowed them. tomorrow i am going to give every appropriate database a complete thrashing.

another beautiful thing about being enrolled is 24 hour free computer access. hellloooooo my creatures of the night.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 10:09 (twenty-one years ago)

hey ipso i got cheap brie too! i wanted blue vein but the mornington supermarket doesn't have any with vegetarian rennet. also you people are so crass, are you sure you're not my flatmates?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 10:12 (twenty-one years ago)

that was me with the cheap brie di. i left a quarter for tomorrow.

did you know a lot of the really cheap big block cheese has vege rennet? they don't advertise cos they don't want to turn people off.
(i am a vegetarian)

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 10:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I didn't hear that, mully - rennet by me again?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 10:50 (twenty-one years ago)

...and so it begins again...

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 21:08 (twenty-one years ago)

yay!

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 22:15 (twenty-one years ago)

i kind of don't that logic gaz - its not like your average cheese consumer knows that theres an ingredient in cheese that comes from a cows gut and is gonna check the ingredients list to make sure he/she is being cheated out of it.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 23:08 (twenty-one years ago)

and i apologise again for my appalling reading and comprehension. how the hell did i graduate?

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 23:18 (twenty-one years ago)

nono, the logic is: this cheese is vegetarian but lets not advertise it as vegetarian (ie don't plaster it with CHEAP VEGETARIAN CHEESE) as people won't buy it (well, not as many people will buy it as would buy PLAIN CHEAP CHEESE)

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 23:20 (twenty-one years ago)

i wish i had a big box of records. what else did you get?

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 23:21 (twenty-one years ago)

okay, i get you. but i'm gonna continue to only trust brands that specify vegetarian rennet on the ingredients list.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 23:27 (twenty-one years ago)

scads of indie piffle - the normal sort of tripe i buy... plus some super cheap stuff i got off ebay (lisa loeb, dinosaur jr, hefner, mira calix, railway children..)

finally some more joy zipper in my life. and some dudley corporation (starry sarah would be impressed). oh and why do i keep buyinh V/Vm records?

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 23:28 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha! My 4 yr old girl and the 4 yr old boy next door were planning their 'wedding picnic' this morning. They had the ring and everything.

Embarassing moment of last week: at daycare, she asked for a beer with her lunch.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:30 (twenty-one years ago)

at least she didn't ask for a vodka and beating

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:32 (twenty-one years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Hello di!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:46 (twenty-one years ago)

i love b&s but their YMG cover is utter utter bullshit and i don't know how anyone in their right mind would have let it even get to the mastering stage

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:46 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, i know but i regret it now mully. Beer always makes me crass and grotty. Jim knows this. Probably everyone else doesn't need to :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:48 (twenty-one years ago)

beer swilling crass grotty women are my kind of people.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:49 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:52 (twenty-one years ago)

crass and grotty is the new playful and flirty

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:52 (twenty-one years ago)

belle and sebastian should be embarrassed that both Hole and Toys Went Berserk did better YMG covers than them

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Toys Went Beserk! Now that's opened a forgotten corner of my brain.

I like crass, grotty, drunk women too, as gaz will affirm.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:53 (twenty-one years ago)

watch out or jim will poke you in the eye

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:54 (twenty-one years ago)

tasty

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 11 March 2004 00:19 (twenty-one years ago)

haha i'm just reading a review of the Mark Gardener gigs here in Melbourne. the last line would make Kate the Saint laugh i'm sure: "...Gardender promised to be back later in the year with his full band Goldrush." hahaha

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 11 March 2004 02:27 (twenty-one years ago)

you might have to explain that one for me...

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 11 March 2004 02:39 (twenty-one years ago)

a) kate saint has a personal history with a member of goldrush and has a certain level of animosity towards them and

b) goldrush would probably not be impressed at being described as 'mark gardener's backing band'

c) ergo hilarity

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 11 March 2004 02:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Aha. Thanks. I wanted to ask, but was afraid of looking ignornat.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 11 March 2004 02:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Pls slow down bastards I cant keep up anymore k thx

(dont you all have any work to do or anything? heh)

PS if I see one more 70s/80s badly styled chapel st hipster in dangly thread earrings and baggy off the shoulder saggy horrible strped tops and shit mullet/bowlcut hairdos, I am taking a tube of squeezy tomato sauce with me on the tram to work.

Might pop into 161 with it too. Nyeh heh.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 11 March 2004 02:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 11 March 2004 02:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 11 March 2004 02:50 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 11 March 2004 02:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 11 March 2004 02:53 (twenty-one years ago)

drunken Brett?

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 11 March 2004 02:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks guys! I will drink one for each of you!

Hmm wait, that could end up messy.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 11 March 2004 04:24 (twenty-one years ago)

you should have a mouthful of booze for every registered ILxor

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 11 March 2004 04:27 (twenty-one years ago)

What, are you trying to kill me, already?

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 11 March 2004 04:50 (twenty-one years ago)

ILXor drinking game. You have to scull everytime you read 'wtf' or 'otm'.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 11 March 2004 05:10 (twenty-one years ago)

On this thread I'm trying to persuade everyone there's a genre of dance music in Aust and NZ called Heavy Silicon. If you boys and girls could pile in and say, 'yeah, Heavy Silicon, everyone loves it over here' then that'd really be funny.

Simon Reynolds disengagement from dance culture/the only people he says care about dance are deejays, druggers, and those with a business interest(incl. journalists)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 11 March 2004 05:14 (twenty-one years ago)

did i do good?

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 11 March 2004 05:56 (twenty-one years ago)

thank you, yes jim.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 11 March 2004 06:02 (twenty-one years ago)

You are evil ;P

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 11 March 2004 06:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Aha! I was wondering where that 'term' came from.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 11 March 2004 06:30 (twenty-one years ago)

(But needless to say I'll play along rather than spoil the fun.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 11 March 2004 06:32 (twenty-one years ago)

i have added to neds half-truths

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 11 March 2004 07:56 (twenty-one years ago)

also i just had some beer

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 11 March 2004 09:00 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm worried you went too far too :)

i'm nearly OUT of beer! this sucks.

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 11 March 2004 09:01 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 11 March 2004 09:09 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 11 March 2004 10:30 (twenty-one years ago)

*trembles in terror*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 11 March 2004 16:14 (twenty-one years ago)

ITS FRIDAY SHEEPFUCKERS & MONGRELS! WAKE UP!

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 11 March 2004 21:52 (twenty-one years ago)

okay okay i'm awake

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 11 March 2004 22:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm mostly awake....sort of...not really

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 11 March 2004 22:40 (twenty-one years ago)

hmm.. i have a difficult choice. i can try to get through this weekend on $35, or get myself back into yucky debt again (albeit only a small amount, but it always starts somewhere).

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 11 March 2004 22:46 (twenty-one years ago)

*looks around for something to sell*

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 11 March 2004 22:46 (twenty-one years ago)

sell your amp, jim.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 11 March 2004 22:47 (twenty-one years ago)

i actually do have an old amp i could sell, although unless i got it fixed up i won't get much for it..

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 11 March 2004 22:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Get through the weekend on $35. Rough it! Getting yourself in more debt is like giving up! You can do it! Pretend you're Alby Mangels! HE could survive for a year on $35!!!

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 11 March 2004 22:50 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm willing to bet you have at least one 7" you don't like that is worth a fair bit.

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 11 March 2004 22:50 (twenty-one years ago)

i am stifling laughter imaging jim as alby mangels. this is the greatest idea evah!

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 11 March 2004 22:51 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm willing to bet you have at least one 7" you don't like that is worth a fair bit.

oh yes, many. but for some reason i'm being terribly slack with selling stuff on ebay. it seems too much like hard work

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 11 March 2004 22:53 (twenty-one years ago)

He just needs to find some 'free-spirits' and he's there!

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 11 March 2004 22:53 (twenty-one years ago)

http://www.digitalofframps.com/~bill/images/Alby.gif

someone else can photoshop on the glasses and 5 o'clock shadow

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 11 March 2004 22:53 (twenty-one years ago)

mmmm free spirit

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 11 March 2004 22:53 (twenty-one years ago)

jim doing a safari of melb nightlife, dressed in kaki king gees and a slouch hat!

ooh colin, no need to be bitchy on the reynolds thread! i think we got away with the heavy silicon thing...jess called it thread of the year!

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 11 March 2004 22:54 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah i think colin is jess' new favourite poster now!

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 11 March 2004 22:55 (twenty-one years ago)

lets set up a slsk account with some "heavy silicon" in it. see if we can make the village voice!

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 11 March 2004 22:56 (twenty-one years ago)

jim is more of a leyland brother i think.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 11 March 2004 22:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I was just teasing fellas!

Now, more importantly, the Alby Mangels thing... what you're missing is that, though he may have little money to spend on groceries, he spends $500 a day on hiring an out-of-luck stripper to accompany him.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 11 March 2004 22:57 (twenty-one years ago)

the stripper is provided by the network

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 11 March 2004 23:00 (twenty-one years ago)

spend the whole lot on booze and see if you can find some wichity grubs

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 11 March 2004 23:02 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah that's pretty close to what i had in mind (except in place of witchetty grubs was cheesymite scrolls)

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 11 March 2004 23:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Man cannot live on booze and cheesymite scrolls alone.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 11 March 2004 23:05 (twenty-one years ago)

squat down, frown into the burning sun, and show us how to eat them jim!

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 11 March 2004 23:07 (twenty-one years ago)

jim & man size cheesymight scroll

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 11 March 2004 23:08 (twenty-one years ago)

the internet hates you.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 11 March 2004 23:12 (twenty-one years ago)

you have to unravel their scrolliness slowly

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 11 March 2004 23:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I can tell you must be good in bed jim.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 11 March 2004 23:24 (twenty-one years ago)

ooer missus

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 11 March 2004 23:25 (twenty-one years ago)

:)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 11 March 2004 23:27 (twenty-one years ago)

:-O

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 11 March 2004 23:31 (twenty-one years ago)

coo ur gosh

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 11 March 2004 23:37 (twenty-one years ago)

It has been silent.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 12 March 2004 03:53 (twenty-one years ago)

still getting over jim as albie mangels sex god

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 03:55 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah the thought of it kept me "busy" all day.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 12 March 2004 03:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned, you're like Alby Mangels yourself - if the nest of ants on this thread gets too quiet, you come over and stir it up a bit.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 12 March 2004 04:03 (twenty-one years ago)

sounds a bit more like croc hunter behaviour :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 12 March 2004 04:05 (twenty-one years ago)

i see Ned as more Harry Butler like

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 04:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, Harry Butler... I can see that.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 12 March 2004 04:09 (twenty-one years ago)

IN THA WILD!

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 04:10 (twenty-one years ago)

He is an hairy man. And gaz is a smooth man.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 12 March 2004 04:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I killed the thread again, didn't I.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 12 March 2004 04:21 (twenty-one years ago)

i was trying to think of a response that didn't use "smooth" in an immature fashion

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 04:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I feel alienated reading this thread. Un-Australian, even.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Friday, 12 March 2004 04:45 (twenty-one years ago)

please explain?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 12 March 2004 04:46 (twenty-one years ago)

gidday timbo! hava coldie!

there: feel better?

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 04:53 (twenty-one years ago)

now i killed it :-(

(i hope tim comes back...)

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 04:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Tim must return!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 12 March 2004 05:01 (twenty-one years ago)

i have $2 to get me through the weekend (including food, and i couldn't pay rent). i hate everyone and everything.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 12 March 2004 05:51 (twenty-one years ago)

:-(

We must all buy Di's albums and PayPal her money so she does not starve.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 12 March 2004 05:53 (twenty-one years ago)

"please explain? "

just that i don't understand 99.99% of it!

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Friday, 12 March 2004 07:18 (twenty-one years ago)

even the bits about food and vishnu?

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 07:20 (twenty-one years ago)

vishnu?

whatchu talkin' bout?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 12 March 2004 07:46 (twenty-one years ago)

ganesh, sorry

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 07:51 (twenty-one years ago)

sorry for correcting you.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 12 March 2004 07:56 (twenty-one years ago)

?

i always get the two mixed up. i blame the simpsons

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 07:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Tim, we'll take it step by step. Which lame in-jokes have confused you? Start from the start.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 12 March 2004 07:57 (twenty-one years ago)

haha. i'm not actually sure teaching tim to be a beer guzzling larrikin is a good idea.

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 08:02 (twenty-one years ago)

at least you have books Di!

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 08:06 (twenty-one years ago)

books don't have much in the way of nutrients

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 08:07 (twenty-one years ago)

:(
would a healthy beam of aussie goodwill love help?

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 08:24 (twenty-one years ago)

its pouring rain here. on my way home i saw three young kids bouncing on a trampoline each holding umbrellas!

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 08:35 (twenty-one years ago)

sounds pretty dangerous :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 12 March 2004 08:36 (twenty-one years ago)

i know! but i almost fell off my bike i was smiling so much

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 08:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it wrong to get sick pleasure out of watching little kids fuck up?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 12 March 2004 08:39 (twenty-one years ago)

lady you think ill of me!

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 08:49 (twenty-one years ago)

in other news i found a sixpack at the bottom of the cupboard. its tooheys new, but i'm coping.

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 09:34 (twenty-one years ago)

i bought a slab. as a result it doesn't look like i'll be going out tonight after all

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 09:36 (twenty-one years ago)

i like the new pornographers. it's good singalong tunes. i wish i had the darkness album now

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 10:33 (twenty-one years ago)

we have it.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 12 March 2004 10:35 (twenty-one years ago)

ooh i have MP3s of it. burning it now :)

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 10:38 (twenty-one years ago)

just as good. you must really be getting into those beers if you're finally falling prey to the darkness.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 12 March 2004 10:42 (twenty-one years ago)

i need to buy some queen albums

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 10:48 (twenty-one years ago)

i have a night at the opera on vinyl and a poxy greatest hits on CD. Heh, I catch myself poncing about to killer queen way too often.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 12 March 2004 10:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Well duh, Jim

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 12 March 2004 10:51 (twenty-one years ago)

(In a nice way, honest)

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 12 March 2004 10:56 (twenty-one years ago)

listening to NUGGETS 2 now and it's a more than adequate substitute for going out tonight

oooh wimple winch *drools*

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 10:59 (twenty-one years ago)

you must've all but worn those CD's out :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 12 March 2004 11:00 (twenty-one years ago)

hey!
i have finished the sixpack. what should i listen to, given absense of nuggets/new new pornographers/darkeness/queen (fck i wish i had some queen now...will zep do?)

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 11:23 (twenty-one years ago)

nah, led zep sucks ass.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 12 March 2004 11:27 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 11:36 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 11:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Led Zep

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 12 March 2004 11:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Tales From The Australian Underground

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 11:40 (twenty-one years ago)

uh, i think jim wins (no offence intended!)

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 11:45 (twenty-one years ago)

now i just have to find it. can we synchronize and wax nostalgic?
(whats a record we all have if not tales?)

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 11:52 (twenty-one years ago)

its aaawwwn! burn my eye!

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:03 (twenty-one years ago)

jim, what you really need is Judas Priest's 'Hell Bent for Leather'.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:03 (twenty-one years ago)

this perfect day!

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:05 (twenty-one years ago)

col have you been to any of the metal nights at syd uni?

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Re 'Aust Underground' I only listen to the first 8 tracks on that 2XCD - and, with some exceptions like Sardine, X, The Surrealists and Venom P Stinger, it's mighty depressing bearing aural witness to the self-indulgent fat-bastard jazzy pontific0-pub rock that succeeded that golden era on the rest of that double album.

No - I never go to Syd Uni. Bloody students. Taught 'em for years.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Led Zep

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi, Mr Mime!

Also - where's feedtime? Where's Madroom? Distant Locust? On the next one, I hope.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:14 (twenty-one years ago)

and jim's right, 'Government Boy' is a great song.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:14 (twenty-one years ago)

for real?
self-indulgent fat-bastard jazzy pontific0-pub rock

sure theres a lot of rote leather jacket n three chord on there. b-b-but...
JIM HELP ME HERE!

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:15 (twenty-one years ago)

haha and the first 8 trax have at least the same ratio hot/miss as the rest.

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:16 (twenty-one years ago)

eyyy government boy!!!

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:17 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah i'm very interested as to what will turn up on vol 2. i hope to see "fish stew" by Box the Jesuit on there

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:18 (twenty-one years ago)

or wait col...yr telling , chelsea kids is better than tales of the saeghors? or thug's dad?

yr full of shit!

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:18 (twenty-one years ago)

i hope that fat bastard jazzy doesn't include Sekret Sekret!

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:18 (twenty-one years ago)

"Dad" is proto-Whitehouse!

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought Whitehouse came before Thug?

Yeah, actually Chelsea Girls is totally crap.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:22 (twenty-one years ago)

they did, i was being silly.

the lyrics to "chelsea girls" are completely daft. nobody can deny the greatness of "tael of the saeghors" though

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Can't even remember that one. *ducks*

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:24 (twenty-one years ago)

now playing " standing by the window" tactics. i really fucking love tactics and you can all fucking piss off.

(funnily enough my mm jukebox tells me this is by "tactics of bass"!!!

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:27 (twenty-one years ago)

but really col, you think makers of the dead travel fast is self-indulgent fat-bastard jazzy pontific0-pub rock

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I like that Tactics song. It's my fave on the record. Well, when I'm in a certain mood it's my fave.

MODTF weren't too bad. They weren't amazing either. There was lots of it around, meandering post Gristle ambient mucking around, all of it was pretty OK.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:31 (twenty-one years ago)

haha some of their stuff is! but not saeghors

(xp)

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:32 (twenty-one years ago)

god i hate the remastering job on that comp.

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:32 (twenty-one years ago)

unless pitman's intention was for everyone to want to seek out the originals

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:33 (twenty-one years ago)

See jim, you pay attention to these things which I miss cos I'm listening on headphones on the train.

Eeeeh, my opinions aren't as strong as I'm pretending. I'm off to bed, see yez Mon, have a good weekend.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:35 (twenty-one years ago)

i rest my case

haha jim have you heard my houdini or glebe? i know studdert is widely considered a fckwit, but...

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:38 (twenty-one years ago)

i have glebe, it's a shockingly bad record. having said that, the other tactics stuff i've heard i've quite liked

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:39 (twenty-one years ago)

whaaaaa? o no! i loved that record!

i'm considering putting on sick love by vvm now. or maybe she hangs brightly...

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:40 (twenty-one years ago)

i *think* i'm talking about the right record. i remember the chapter on it in Blunt..

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:42 (twenty-one years ago)

go the VVM

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:42 (twenty-one years ago)

happy birthday is on...its better than i remembered (i hate nick cave)

i'd do you a tactics burn for a jim mix of all the shit i know nothing about (remastered). do you do that?

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:45 (twenty-one years ago)

hate being somewhat relative. i think shivers and release the bats are two of the best record evah.

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:46 (twenty-one years ago)

you'd need to be more specific! :) what stuff do you know nothing about?

eyy release the bats. i love rowland, even if his face has melted away

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:48 (twenty-one years ago)

jim's taste (apart from vvm/whitehoue/aussie ppunk) ---------- (apart from vvm/whitehoue/aussie ppunk) gaz' taste

i don't know nothing major about much that wasn't "dance/electronic" culture since, er, 1980. which doesn't mean i don't know the touchstones, or even a few records (which i often love)

rowland...whatever.

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:54 (twenty-one years ago)

o fuck i just realised col dissed pel mel too...now i'm REALLY MAD

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 12:56 (twenty-one years ago)

haw!

ah if only the australian reissuers were as good at it as the british reissuers. gimme a loricraft and a rega and people will forget CDs ever existed

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 13:02 (twenty-one years ago)

anyone out there?

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 13:30 (twenty-one years ago)

wibble

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 13:33 (twenty-one years ago)

have you drunk the whole slab jim?

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 13:36 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm on to the first beer of the second sixpack but i think it'll be my last for tonite. i'll save the rest of this sixie and another sixie for trayce's birthday bash

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 13:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I only had three tonight. A very poor effort.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 12 March 2004 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

:(

that's no good!

hmm i wish i was dancing to freakbeat instead of having to listen to music quietly because my stupid ex is home

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 13:39 (twenty-one years ago)

stupid exes suck. my stupid ex made me listen to an entire album of green day and an entire album of the cure this evening. Unforgivable.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 12 March 2004 13:40 (twenty-one years ago)

fuck how does this stupid ex thing work? are they IN YOUR HOUSES?

hi hi hi ipso. i am drrrrrunk.

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 13:42 (twenty-one years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 12 March 2004 13:45 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 13:47 (twenty-one years ago)

stupid ex moves out in a fortnight

ipso lives in brisbane

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 12 March 2004 13:47 (twenty-one years ago)

once upon a time kate met james and everything was plain sailing and they lived happily ever after.

how's that?

x-post

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 12 March 2004 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 13 March 2004 08:16 (twenty-one years ago)

just sit quietly and think about it then.

mullygrubber (gaz), Saturday, 13 March 2004 08:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Hehe, I'm having a head-to-head argument with S*mon R*ynolds on the dance music thread, it's quite an intimidating experience. Who's up then?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 13 March 2004 21:07 (twenty-one years ago)

How were the celebrations Trayce?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 13 March 2004 21:31 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah happy birthday trayce, tell us about it!

being broke ain't so bad. i have books and a guitar and my flatmates have been blessing me with food and entertainment. entertainment came in the form of "lost boys" and "velvet goldmine" and steve drunkenly whipping IT out in the kitchen and proceeding to tell us about some boys penis which apparently tasted like honey. oh hey andrew i gave a reading of riowio's diary!

HI de ho! I just cant keep up with this damn thread anymore! I had a dandy birthday, the weather was peachy for a bbq under a shady tree, and I drank from lunchtime til umm... whenever Jim left my place (what the hell time was it by then, 2am?). We watched lots of Futurama and I smoked so much I couldnt breathe properly on sunday. Yay! So I lay in bed all day being brought food and I read my simcity 4 strategy guide. I am a n3rd.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 15 March 2004 00:47 (twenty-one years ago)

yay Trayce!

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 15 March 2004 04:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Mine has! I just reread my bday thread and damn, I seem to be rather popular around here. I was rather moved *blushes*.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 15 March 2004 05:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Plus, I have Top Deck and a V to drink, so in half an hour I'll probably be bouncing off the walls. Whee.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 15 March 2004 05:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I started painting a picture of a saintly business man floating through city streets. Doing something vaguely creative is a marked improvement on being sick all morning.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 15 March 2004 05:12 (twenty-one years ago)

That's nice.

I had a rotten coffee so got some chocolate to hide the taste - and it had that whitish, powdery surface to it that indicated it was past its best. Double whammy. But I'm OK. I have that feeling something exciting is about to happen.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 15 March 2004 16:17 (twenty-one years ago)

i was feeling a bit better this morning but now i am afraid i might have a stalker.
as i was waiting to get off the train a youngish guy turned to me and said "i see you here every morning, getting off the train".
then he said "but in the afternoon you go to X station to go home. why's that?"
and when i asked him where he worked he mumbled about some complex nearby where he could see my workplace from. he almost followed me into the toilet.
should i worry?

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 01:40 (twenty-one years ago)

This is an interesting vision, Mully, and yet I have doubts.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 01:41 (twenty-one years ago)

(x-post) Certainly not, Trayce. You are a lady. But we may have to give you birthday punches.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 01:42 (twenty-one years ago)

trayce design a simcity with me as ned and ned as me. that would be useful.

(i have no idea what a simcity is)

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 01:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Sim City is a great PC game! You start with a huuuuge tract o'land, and you plonk in a power plant and some roads, and then zone for residential, commercial and industrial, adding doctors and cops and all the things a growing city needs. Its actually a very sophisticated and complex simulation and very very engrossing.

I think I have control issues. My 2 fave games is that and The Sims. Mua ha ha... ph34r me.

God I'm bored.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 01:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Ewww. The clown in the sims? Ive never had him. No wait, you mean the mime? A mime turns up when you chuck a party and its going shitty. He frickin' wont leave either and if you go to sleep and the mime is still in the house, he steals shit! Fucker. There's also a girl who will gate crash parties. She's done up like a little punker. Its very cute.

That's the one, the mime. What a strange, creepy idea that one is. I've had a few parties like that.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 02:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Apparently there is a sad clown painting too tho, and I think if your sim is really depressed, you can look at it, and some clown will appear and try to cheer you up. But I'm a good little god an make sure my sims are always happy.

Well except that one time my sims had a baby and I didnt want it so I deleted it. It was aliens. Yes. *convincing nod*

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 02:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Apparently the way you get the clown on the original sims is by putting up the paitning of the 'sad clown'. If your sims depression levels remain constantly low, the clown pays you a visit creating all kinds of problems.

jinx trayce

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 02:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I loved playing the sims but then i got bored and just played it till they set the kitchen on fire and one died, and then the other one got depressed and wouldn't eat and died too. I just had all these little urns of ashes on the lawn. It was hilarious.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 03:51 (twenty-one years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 03:54 (twenty-one years ago)

They'll do rudie things in bed if you get them happy with each other and you buy the right sort of bed, but the bed's fucking ugly (ha ha pardon the pun) so I never bothered.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 04:12 (twenty-one years ago)

hmmmm...my copy of the sims always crashes so i never bothered with any of the expansion packs however i did enjoy the game between crashes. I always cheat though. I don't want to make them work so I hit the old klapaucius and shazaam! instant cash :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 04:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh I have Hot Date and Unleashed and everything! Its grate! They can go downtown and eat in restaurants and buy stuff and snog and people get jealous and slap you and stuff.

It crashes a lot if you have a PC thats a bit on the older slower side. I have a P4 2.3 gb and with all the expansion pax and downloaded fan furniture and stuff I have it can even run a little sluggsih on that beast. Simcity is impossibly slow even on the p4 even with 512mg ram - it needs a shit hot video card which I dont have. POos.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 04:32 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 06:52 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 06:56 (twenty-one years ago)

i tried not to catch his eye.

the black dude who had stepped back from the trough to let me go stepped back up as i scarpered.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 06:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Hang on, while you've been posting I've been writing the Numan song with Neddy. Let's get to the chorus - it goes like this:

(Moog synth and gary sing is unison while Prophet synthesizer portamentos up behind them)

Gary: Wo! Wo-ho!
(descent a third)
Gary: Wo! Wo-ho!
(repeat)

Verse two:

And we are just Aussies
And we have nuh-thing.To. Say.
And we are all liars
And we could just go. A. Way.

Cos we are just hungry
And we want to drink. Our. Beer
And we have no life
And we can't get out. Of. Here.

(chorus)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 18 March 2004 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I actually didn't end up getting any as a careful review of my budget indicated I wouldn't be able to get to uni next week if I bought beer :(

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 18 March 2004 10:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow, that's really responsible ipso.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 18 March 2004 10:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Not really. My classes are marked on attendance (strangely enough art school has problems getting students to turn up) and if I miss to many classes I'll fail :(

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 18 March 2004 10:12 (twenty-one years ago)

What are you studying?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 18 March 2004 10:12 (twenty-one years ago)

fine art and education

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 18 March 2004 10:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Courageous and gutsy.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 18 March 2004 10:19 (twenty-one years ago)

you think?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 18 March 2004 10:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes. Yes I do.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 18 March 2004 10:23 (twenty-one years ago)

And what leads you to believe that I am -as you say, courageous and gutsy?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 18 March 2004 10:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't know if you are, but your decision is, because the arts and education are undervalued and under attack.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 18 March 2004 10:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, but there is a nationwide teacher shortage and doing something artistic is the only way I think i'll be truely happy, so it's really all quite selfish :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 18 March 2004 10:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, well, fair enough, I couldn't agree more. But good for you, that's all I meant to say, cos I took that route myself and it's hard but rewarding if you persist (not financially rewarding, hahaha - personally and spiritually rewarding).

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 18 March 2004 10:37 (twenty-one years ago)

thats what i'm after, i don't really give a fuck about copious amounts of cash. I'd much rather have a job i don't mind going to day in day out. I've had the other and that was what sent me back to uni in the first place :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 18 March 2004 10:40 (twenty-one years ago)

You know what will get to you though? Teachers who cannot teach, and are essentially there because it's a job. They know nothing about inspiring students to learn for themselves. You can recognise them - they're the ones with the note handouts, the overheads and the summaries. They are political animals.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 18 March 2004 10:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah thats part of what got me into it. I like to think I have a passion for what I want to teach that I didn't see in most of my high school teachers. Although the reality of the job will probably be quite different, it's nice to think that in some small way you can help change the way people think about things through education. For instance my second teaching area is social sciences and some of the stuff i'm currently learning about Australia and Australian social history just wasn't dealth with at all when I was at high school (which really wasn't that long ago). I like to think I can make interesting what my teachers made dry and unpalatable.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 18 March 2004 10:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Can I just warn you about one thing? If you show too much enthusiasm you will be pecked at like a speckled pigeon. This is what I didn't understand. If you are in teaching to teach, you must be prepared to be at the bottom of the ladder for a long time, perhaps the rest of your life - or, you might even get edged out. Unless - you can be as wily and ruthless as the people we have been talking about. If I knew now what I didn't know then... but these things all ripen in their own time don't they? All I can say is, when a work colleague starts behaving ruthlessly to you, don't be afraid to employ a little judo work of you own. There is a time and a place to drop the good will and throw a few karate chops.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 18 March 2004 11:03 (twenty-one years ago)

"If I knew now what I didn't know then"

Haha - I'm sure you know what I really meant.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 18 March 2004 11:04 (twenty-one years ago)

damn....i already know i'm too nice for my own good. Does this mean i'm set on course to become all jaded and cynical?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 18 March 2004 11:06 (twenty-one years ago)

No, geez, definitely not!

My big life lesson (so far, haha) is that there are ruthless political animals in all walks of life. They don't know much about the subject at hand but are good at memorising and at undermining any threat through political activity. They are always beaten by unexpected strategies and can be neutralised by a person with a deep understanding of the fear at the heart of the human condition (ie, most genuiune artists).

If a real teacher walks into their world, they go right on the defensive and plot to undermine the threat, hahaha!

The kind of person I'm talking about is a thorn in the side of a genuine teacher. They are bullies.

Like all bullies, they are essentially cowards and only bully the weak. As long as you show them you are not weak they won't dare undermine you. Attend all staff meetings or you'll find they're voting down your syllabus behind your back etc. Stand your ground, but do not get angry. Stand up for what you think is important, but always be reasonable and relaxed. Be prepared to lose the odd battle. Don't get flustered. Always maintain your sense of humour and never be embarassed about your eccentricities. Simpple stuff like that.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 18 March 2004 11:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow, this is so much better than anything anyones taught us about teaching so far. What is it you teach colin?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 18 March 2004 11:45 (twenty-one years ago)

A good and heartfelt discussion! I feel bad intruding. But I will post *kind thoughts* nonetheless.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 18 March 2004 13:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi Ned! I taught psychology, the logic of argument, history and philosophy of science (uni, not school, of course). I was sorta a victim of the causualisation of the workforce, so I quit my PhD to go and earn some money. I still take an interest in all this stuff though. But now I just concentrate on music and make ends meet with an administrative day job.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 18 March 2004 20:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Sounds interesting. I'm afraid that being the slackest student in the world cuts me out of going any further than a simple degree with my tertiary education :)

Do you think you'd ever go back and finish the PhD or is that it?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 18 March 2004 22:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Nope. It's on a disc though. I haven't really changed my views on the philosophy of error (the topic), but I go about expressinbg those views in a less academic style (and that's a good thing). Academia realy hobbled my natural writing style, but it's slowly recovering its vigour. One good thing from those days - I learned a very spare, simple style of writing.

I continue to write for magazines etc, and best of all for fun.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 19 March 2004 00:13 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 22 March 2004 01:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Hooray!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 22 March 2004 01:38 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 22 March 2004 01:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Hello mully. I hope you two are going to be entertaining today as I am really bored.

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 22 March 2004 01:41 (twenty-one years ago)

hmmm entertaining....

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 22 March 2004 01:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Me too. Dirt poor that is. How much pasta can a koala bear?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 22 March 2004 01:47 (twenty-one years ago)

i ate jaffles all weekend

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 22 March 2004 02:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 22 March 2004 02:23 (twenty-one years ago)

eep!

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 22 March 2004 02:47 (twenty-one years ago)

yes yes, i have secured for myself the loan of a digital camera. Be very afraid.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 22 March 2004 02:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Even more afraid than normal? I am a very nervous person.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 22 March 2004 02:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, piss-your-pants style afraid.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 22 March 2004 03:03 (twenty-one years ago)

My scones were sweet, if a little plain (scones always seem so floury). I love cooking... I'm such a little homebody. I spent all weekend resting, cooking and houseworekying.

I wish I could afford to live in a house that overlooked the sea somewhere remote, with huge glass windows everywhere, a fast internet connection, anything I wanted delivered to me door, and NO ONE AROUND FOR MILES. Ah yes.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 22 March 2004 03:04 (twenty-one years ago)

You must be a cancerian then?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 22 March 2004 03:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I mean, I can totally relate to that lifestyle. People say I'm a typical cancerian.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 22 March 2004 03:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Nah, Piscean. Vague, idealistic, and horrible addictive personality. Yay! I suck.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 22 March 2004 04:57 (twenty-one years ago)

What ever happened to that Gary milk? I was gonna paste it to the "Famous Garys" thread but could find no hits except for some weird marketing board PDF file from years ago with no pics.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 22 March 2004 05:45 (twenty-one years ago)

hmmm.. maybe people were put off at the idea of choking down half a pint of Gary?

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 22 March 2004 05:46 (twenty-one years ago)

thats what I was thinking. I ain't drinking a carton of some milky fluid with a guys name printed on the outside.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 22 March 2004 05:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I wonder if it came in pineapple flavour?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 22 March 2004 05:56 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 22 March 2004 06:02 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 22 March 2004 06:03 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 22 March 2004 22:11 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm sick at work.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 22 March 2004 22:13 (twenty-one years ago)

that's better than being sick at work.

everyone is sick lately. my drummer was coughing up grey phlegm at rehearsal last night. i had to sing all the songs.

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 22 March 2004 22:14 (twenty-one years ago)

bah crosspost

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 22 March 2004 22:14 (twenty-one years ago)

they drummer usually sings? please tell me the drummer is female.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 22 March 2004 22:34 (twenty-one years ago)

yes she is. no, not usually, she sings about half the recorded work and a quarter of the live stuff (but lots of backing vocals)

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 22 March 2004 22:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Woooah Black Betty! Bamba-lam!

It blows my mind when people can drum and sing at the same time. It is a freaky thing, to me. I can't even chew gum and walk down the stairs.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 22 March 2004 22:38 (twenty-one years ago)

don't tell me she's pretty too jim...

(wtf is the black betty bit col?)

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 22 March 2004 22:40 (twenty-one years ago)

you tell me

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 22 March 2004 22:42 (twenty-one years ago)

black betty = new spiderbait single = singing drummer

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 22 March 2004 22:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought you'd all know that? Obviously you haven't been watching 'Rage' lately.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 22 March 2004 22:54 (twenty-one years ago)

hard to tell from those jim!

i haven't seen rage in years. if spiderbait have covered black betty i am thankful to have been spared it.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 22 March 2004 23:01 (twenty-one years ago)

apparently it's their last hurrah

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 22 March 2004 23:04 (twenty-one years ago)

It sounds like, well, Spiderbait singing Black Betty. Exactly as I'd expected it'd sound.

I hurt my back. I need a masseuse! *looks around*

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 00:04 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 00:30 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 00:31 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 00:53 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 22:58 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:18 (twenty-one years ago)

"An Australian gentleman who ticked the anonymity box knows people who ‘do it’ to Whitehouse. I wonder what the 'it' is though."

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:38 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:59 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 00:17 (twenty-one years ago)

No, seriously. And I only read blissblog to find out what non-musicians think.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 00:23 (twenty-one years ago)

It was clearly one of us though. We are all suspects.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 00:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Well it wasnt me! ;P

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 00:27 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 00:39 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 00:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Trayce has run into a problem with irony-free Americans on another thread.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 00:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 01:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah dear, Mr Kane. What a strange, strange man.

I just found out oops quoted me on the out of context thread going on about making sims shag! What a cad!

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 01:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Careful what you say about oops. He's in Cluster 14(c). They have... mysterious powers...

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 01:48 (twenty-one years ago)

i have uncovered his real name though, and it is...the same as mole's.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 01:59 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 02:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 03:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Well if you believe mully, he has shown up, for I am he (grammar).

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 03:11 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 03:12 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 03:17 (twenty-one years ago)

WTF is trife on?

"anyway i think 'but talking like a homie is worth ridiculing!!' above speaks for itself " (said about me)

I never even said that? And LC (whoever it is) quotes some Ice Cube thing and says they called me out on that? WTF? Are these people on crack?

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 03:42 (twenty-one years ago)

the don't realise it is all imperialist yank culture to us. they cannot see beyond their own borders. they didn't even glom your post.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 03:49 (twenty-one years ago)

it should be compulsory to ridicule white teenagers from frankston talking like homies

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 03:54 (twenty-one years ago)

and beat them up and steal their sneakers

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 03:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I was trying to suggest 15 year old whitey kids from the 'burbs here imitating Ja Rule or wtf ever is what should be ridiculed, as it isnt *their* culture and so they just look silly.

Of course thats too subtle an argument for mr "hey you said ridicule in the same paragraph as homie YOU RACIST" cuntrag t**fe.

Fuck I am pissed off now, I mean REALLY angry. I am this close to giving up reading ILX for a while. All the trifes and blounts and [certain other people I wont even name lest they kick my arse]'s of the world with their snipey, cranky, "fuck you we're better than you" assholism has worn down my happy go lucky nature on here :(

And apart from C****m they're always fucking american. *&%^&$R^%$%

I'm off to throw things and kick some puppies. Back next year.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 04:11 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 04:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Seihachi: Hey, Mr. Noodle-man!
U-1: Hei hei. Welcome to my noodle shop.
Seihachi: One bowl of hot noodles, please.
U-1: Hei hei. Thank you.
Seihachi: Ah-, It’s very cold tonight, isn’t it?
U-1: Yes, it is especially cold tonight.
Seihachi: I can’t stand it, really. A cold night like this, I want to eat something hot and warm my stomach.... I heard your voice, so I ran to your noodle shop, so please hurry. By the way, how is business? ...What? Not good?... Well, it happens. It is not just you, but everybody... Don’t worry, good times will follow bad times in business. You see, you will get busy, that’s why it is called a business. Oh, oops, you already knew that, didn’t you? I shouldn’t have said that.
U-1: No, sir. Thank you.
Seihachi: By the way, what’s the name of your shop? What? BINGO... It is called BINGO?! That’s good! I am going to a casino after this. This is good luck for me! I’m going to win!
U-1: That’s nice. You’ll have a good time..... Hei hei, here you go.
Seihachi: Is it ready already!? You are so quick! Very quick! I have a short temper. When a noodle-man is slow, I don’t even feel like eating. But you are good. Let me see... Oh, you provide new chopsticks! Usually, other noodle shops provide old chopsticks. Who knows if they are clean or not. ... This bowl is very pretty. Only this one? No? All bowls are pretty? You are very good! Usually, other noodle shops use bowls with cracked and chipped edges. This is nice! Humm, this smells good. I eat noodles almost every night. I can tell if the noodles are good or not by their smell.

(Sound of eating noodles) Oh, good soup. This is fish broth, isn’ it? I know, I know! I eat noodles almost every night. (Sound of blowing on and eating noodles) Oh, good noodles. Sometimes noodles are too soft and soggy. They are no good. Noodles should be nice and firm. Your noodles are perfectly firm. These are good. (Sound of blowing on and eating noodles) Oh, look at this fish cake! This is very thick. Usually, other noodle shops cut fish cake very thin, like a piece of paper. (Eating fish cake) Ah, yes, this is real fish cake. Sometimes other noodle shops use sponge cake instead. That is terrible. It is something for a sick person to eat. (Sound of blowing on and eating noodles) Ah, they were delicious! I could eat another bowl of noodles, but may be not today. How much is it?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 05:03 (twenty-one years ago)
