This thread is, in a way, too long.
Perhaps it could do with a fresh start.

-- the bluefox (pinefo...), March 23rd, 2004.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 22:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I have a few crushes, I have forgotten my favourite crush's name though and my friend won't tell me. Grrr.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 22:29 (twenty-one years ago)

(by a few I mean more than when the thread started)

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 22:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I have a crush for several reasons. "Nine of them are secrets. The tenth is that one should never cease considering human love, which remains as grisly and golden as ever, no matter what it tattooed upon the warm tympanic page."

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 22:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I cried in the presence of one of my crushes this weekend, I hope he saw.

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 22:35 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah i have a few but i'm a TA so i am duty bound to keep kwietttt

also i'm pretty drunk right now

g--ff (gcannon), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 22:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Tragically, there is a typo in the pageI pasted my quote from: it should be "is" rather than "it".

As you were.

Jerry the Pedant (Jerrynipper), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 22:43 (twenty-one years ago)

That is so JtN.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 22:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Tell me about it. : (

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 22:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Cheer up, it's better than being so Raven!

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 22:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 22:47 (twenty-one years ago)

"fresh start"

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 22:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I could write all day. The date is Thursday - wish me luck.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 22:54 (twenty-one years ago)

i should take this opportunity to mourn my building love. he was such a dreamboat... floppy dark hair, slightly too big gatsby-esque suits, drool smack. i saw him this morning, and damn if he hasn't gotten himself a way too short haircut. now he just looks like one of the future insider traders from my prep school's brother school. when good crushes go bad...

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 22:56 (twenty-one years ago)

don't they all go bad in the end?

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 22:57 (twenty-one years ago)

That's the spirit!

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I want my crush episodes and all future dates soundtracked with "I'm Ready" by Kano. In a sort of 80s comedy show music interlude style.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I am feeling the vague stirrings of spring, but they remain as yet undirected.

Ricardo (RickyT), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I'm in a bad mood cos I'm drunk. And I can't for the life of me find this Merritt thread. Fuck.

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I am DJing on Thursday, if that and forgetting her name doesn't impress my crush then I guess I'll have to give up. It's also my birthday.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Cookie, it's over on ILM.

Right now I am imagining 'The Fresh Prince of Dublin' starring Ronan.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Me as Uncle Phil??

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:07 (twenty-one years ago)

aries unite. ronan, i will check the cosmo bedside astrologer to see what the week holds for us.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I was thinking more the camp butler.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:08 (twenty-one years ago)

"The camp butler??? Not on theeeeeeeese wages sir"

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:10 (twenty-one years ago)

okay, big guy - looks like we have our work cut out for us:

"Take charge this week -- that's supposed to be easy for you, right? The first half of the week you'll feel strong and in sync with the universe, and your partner or date will go along with whatever plans you make. If you're looking for love, now's the time to grab it. As the weekend approaches, you'll ease up a little, but come across as dashing and charming. A little patience will go a long way. The weekend itself is all about communication, though nothing really serious will fall out of it. Just be ready to really listen and speak from the heart."

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:14 (twenty-one years ago)

This is turning into a good week :)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:15 (twenty-one years ago)

If you're looking for love, now's the time to grab it

now??? not like after a few drinks? or next week? damn.

I like the dashing and charming part, but I can't say either of us should be surprised.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:17 (twenty-one years ago)

i hope this grabbing thing doesn't lead to anyone getting slapped.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:20 (twenty-one years ago)

There's no alcoholic drink that'd make me that forward, trust me.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:21 (twenty-one years ago)

explain that IM conversation a few weeks back then

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Ronan, have you been propositioning Strongo and his big green cock again?

Ricardo (RickyT), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:24 (twenty-one years ago)

he thought it was a glowstick

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:25 (twenty-one years ago)

just the green guy.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:25 (twenty-one years ago)

though it's hard to tell where one ends and the other begins. (we've just wrecked this crush thread too)

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:26 (twenty-one years ago)

then my work here is done

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:27 (twenty-one years ago)

well, i'm going to get slapped by the debt collector. that horoscope is so promising that i'm off to buy a nice new pair of tight pants on credit to raise my charm/dash/ quotient. now if only astrology wasn't bullshit.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:27 (twenty-one years ago)

strongo the hate fairy!

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:28 (twenty-one years ago)

(we've just wrecked this crush thread too)
not so fast. crush threads are like movie villains - when you least expect it an axe-wielding hand will pop out of the lake. besides, i think it's cute that you two are getting closer.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:30 (twenty-one years ago)

STRONGO HATE HUMAN EMOTION

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I now imagine Strongo erupting in rage as a freshly picked daisy withers and dies in his hand.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:32 (twenty-one years ago)

oh you adorable little venom-spouting thing, you.

xpost

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:32 (twenty-one years ago)

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Dubplatestyle: haha omg dude reload the crush thread i swear if ound that pic before you posted last

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:37 (twenty-one years ago)

i feel so...weird...

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:38 (twenty-one years ago)

how come every time i get a crush the guy has to have one or two huge flaws that make me uncrush them?

mandee, Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:44 (twenty-one years ago)

or uncrush him, rather.

mandee, Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:46 (twenty-one years ago)

my mass transit crush has since disappeared since I posted on the last thread. I blame ilx for all of my problems.

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:49 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, get in line

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Mere hours ago I think I monkey wrenched this really cool thing I may have had going with this really great potty-mouthed cougar I got nasty with on the weekend. :( But she's got a kid so maybe that should be :)

The girl I have the biggest crush on has a boyfriend who is such a good guy I'm avoiding both of them altogether because she tends to reciprocate right in front of the poor guy - the homewreck CD-R thread was to let off some of my steam. :(

PS - I was the guy that deleted all the porn, and now I'm kind of regretting it. :( :( :( :( :(

LC, Wednesday, 24 March 2004 06:37 (twenty-one years ago)

cookie was drunk?

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 12:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I think he passed out while I was talking to him on AIM last nite.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 12:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I just checked; he is lying on his bed, unconscious.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 12:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I just joked; he is probably at work, unconscious.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 12:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I wonder if I will develop that dreaded of all crushes... THE OFFICE CRUSH. Fortunately, no one in my immediate office is both hott or of the correct gender. Phew! There is someone hott who I've seen floating around, but I've no idea which, if any, office he works in.

Psycho Kate (kate), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 13:00 (twenty-one years ago)

RJG, that was funny.

When JtN said he could write all day, what did he mean he was writing, or could be writing?

the beefox, Wednesday, 24 March 2004 14:57 (twenty-one years ago)

after getting my friend to punch me in the shoulder very hard numerous times, i finally got some guts and asked her out. we're going to the park together tomorrow!!!!! supposedly to play hacky sack, too, which i have absolutely no skill at, but she says she's no good either, so we'll see. one problem though. hobos don't wander around this park, so i can't knife any. any suggestions on how to pull something vile to show her my "dark side"?

Felonious Drunk (Felcher), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 18:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Dark Side Of The Foreskin

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 18:11 (twenty-one years ago)

look out for the Spielberg Directors Cut

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 18:13 (twenty-one years ago)

love is a fool's chance at the infinite.

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 18:18 (twenty-one years ago)

on whom does the Pinefox have crushes? This needs to be settled.

DV (dirtyvicar), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 22:46 (twenty-one years ago)

hacky sack?? i trust you will be smoking marijuana or listening to the dead or doing something other than just hackey sack, right?

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 23:28 (twenty-one years ago)

random girl on the elevator invited me to smoked pot, today. too bad she's creepy. i think all girls are creepy except the ones i want; those are just scary.

Ian Johnson (orion), Thursday, 25 March 2004 05:20 (twenty-one years ago)

all girls are scary, except for the ones i end up with who are just psychotic

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 25 March 2004 05:21 (twenty-one years ago)

The DV's question, I feel, should not go unanswered.

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 25 March 2004 11:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought the other thread just sugggested they were random girls he'd seen at railway stations wearing tight tops?

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 25 March 2004 12:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Is that all it takes?

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Thursday, 25 March 2004 13:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh god yes.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 25 March 2004 13:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I have bad hacky sack memories. That's all I'm saying.

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Thursday, 25 March 2004 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

that does seem like a strange activity, but congratulations on actually following through.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 25 March 2004 16:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll be seeing Br0dy from the D1st1ller$ next weekend. Already salivating.

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Thursday, 25 March 2004 16:37 (twenty-one years ago)

45 minutes and counting. to answer your question bill, we will be talking during the hacky sack, which is kinda of the point of the excursion. hopefully i'll be able to charm her with my complete lack of coordination. it worked in the dropping-of-the-paper incident apparently.

Felonious Drunk (Felcher), Thursday, 25 March 2004 17:49 (twenty-one years ago)

good luck, eh. i try to avoid all situations involving motor skills.

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Thursday, 25 March 2004 17:54 (twenty-one years ago)

ouch, postponed till tuesday. for a valid reason though, so im not particularly worried, just kind of a let down for the day.

Felonious Drunk (Felcher), Thursday, 25 March 2004 19:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish Colette would stop trying to persuade me that I have crushes. Sigh.

Psycho Kate (kate), Thursday, 25 March 2004 20:02 (twenty-one years ago)

A crushular sort of thing has begun to develop on a beautiferous young lady who has come to see my band play the past two nights in a row. The eye contact/smile game played out, and thus I felt it might not be entirely unreciprocated as the case often is in crush-on-random-person situations in my case. I would have made The Approach last night but as I made my way from yon barside perch to the pillar on which she leaned a young man almost a foot shorter than me swooped in with an ubersmooth cockblock. I return to crush-of-shame-ing on young film starlets.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 25 March 2004 20:11 (twenty-one years ago)

If you ever talk to her, ask her if she'd likes skeet.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 25 March 2004 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

????

Shooting or Ulrich?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 25 March 2004 20:32 (twenty-one years ago)

UrbanDictionary is your friend!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA "Skeet Ulrich"! (Dan Perry), Thursday, 25 March 2004 20:37 (twenty-one years ago)

skeet surfin'

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Thursday, 25 March 2004 20:40 (twenty-one years ago)

it's been too long since i have ejaculated on anyone's face

oh ho ho ho ho (orion), Thursday, 25 March 2004 20:43 (twenty-one years ago)

my crush has turned into painufl longing for someone and second-guessing fear that he doesn't feel the same.

our first date was fantastic (he even told me he thinks he's "falling in love" with me) and we talk on the phone everyday, but still. . .

am i a freak?

Ask For Samantha (thatgirl), Thursday, 25 March 2004 20:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Because it's totally bitchin'
Ridin' wave to blast the pigeons
And it's so neat shootin' skeets
While you're riding out the heavies all day

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 25 March 2004 20:47 (twenty-one years ago)

ha ha Mr. Ulrich's name is a spooj synonym

SPOOJONYM

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 25 March 2004 20:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I have a crush on Kim Clijsters.

I especially love how after she loses in the final to Henin-Hardenne she'll thank Lleyton for sticking around even though he lost in the first round.

mookieproof (mookieproof), Thursday, 25 March 2004 21:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Sam, I always fear, when I start to care about someone, that they can't possibly feel as strongly about me. I think we have to ignore that and proceed anyway.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 25 March 2004 22:25 (twenty-one years ago)

She doesn't want you!

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 25 March 2004 22:32 (twenty-one years ago)

i have a massive heart on for the pine fox...

anthony, Thursday, 25 March 2004 22:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh my.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Thursday, 25 March 2004 22:36 (twenty-one years ago)

After last night, I think I know who the Crushfox might have a thing for...

My list has been whittled down to one.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 25 March 2004 23:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally C (Ally C), Thursday, 25 March 2004 23:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Time for bed, loser.

Ally C (Ally C), Thursday, 25 March 2004 23:38 (twenty-one years ago)

http://www.warrandytehigh.vic.edu.au/jets.gif ?

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 25 March 2004 23:40 (twenty-one years ago)

indeed.

Ally C (Ally C), Thursday, 25 March 2004 23:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Anthony, you wouldn't have a heart-on for the Pinefox if you'd seen him dancing! Mwah hah hah!

(My New Crush (TM) has definitely seen me dancing so that's that crush written off, boo hoo, Busted jumps and all.)

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:00 (twenty-one years ago)

i want a restaurant willing to serve the feeling of awkward/giddy infatuation in ice cream form. (with lots of nuts, fudge, caramel, cherry, whipped cream etc.)

Ian Johnson (orion), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:07 (twenty-one years ago)

No way, man. Can you imagine how fat(ter) I'd be?

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:09 (twenty-one years ago)

that's why it's called infatuation

rainy (rainy), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:18 (twenty-one years ago)

So why is Rod Stewart so skinny, then?

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:20 (twenty-one years ago)

because he's so mainstream nowadays. back when he was undersground, boyola he was tubby.

rainy (rainy), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm trying to remember when in his career "Infatuation" came out, but I think it was crap mainstream 80s. Oh dear.

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:23 (twenty-one years ago)

(OK, why did Rod Stewart just randomly pop into my head there? Is it because of the subconscious realisation that my potential crushee actually has Rod Stewart hair, thus killing any crushhood potential?)

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I prefer his early experimental hair

rainy (rainy), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:27 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, I need to sit and contemplate the idea of Experimental Hair for a few minutes here... ::DROOLS::

(Personally I think Rod looked better with his early, 60s mod French Line cut, but that doesn't stop him from being Rod Stewart and fancied by my mum, and therefore ick-inducing.)

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:30 (twenty-one years ago)

i totally took a girl out the other day! she is, like me, a teacher. she is also five years older than me. sadly i am moving away in July so our love has an expiry date, like cottage cheese.

Not D@v3 M. (rotten03), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Hooo hoo. Life is greeeeat and life is fiiine because I've met a boy and no-one likes yoooooooou!

:)

:)

Rod Stewart?! Ah MAN!

Sarah (starry), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Curse you, Starry, I'm going to have that stuck in my head for the rest of the day... ;-)

(I spent most of Tuesday night standing in a corner singing it under my breath and hoping no arty types actually noticed. I don't know why it's so catchy. I don't know why I love it so much. Possibly because I am entranced by the way that the meter is all f@cked and it doesn't even pretend to rhyme...)

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Yoga?

Sarah (starry), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:39 (twenty-one years ago)

That's Chiropractor.

C - H - I ...

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:40 (twenty-one years ago)

starry has met a boy?!

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:42 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, and no-one likes you apparently.

(well, I think you're ok, if that's any help)

chris (chris), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I meet them often, sadly. I have also met a boy. Aaaah man blush. Ye will probably be able to reckon out who it is quite soon, ESOJ.

Sarah (starry), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Aarrrgh I am going to hide now

embarassed really (starry), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it Doomie?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:47 (twenty-one years ago)

It's c-man isn't it?

chris (chris), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:48 (twenty-one years ago)

gosh!

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Nope. It is somebody without a mobile phone, which is disturbing and not entirely pleasant. It means I have to arse about actually talking to them and arranging things in advance, which is a chiz. NB it is not the Springfox either.

Sarah (starry), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it PETE?!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:49 (twenty-one years ago)

no it's not doomie!! he's been talking about "his girl" for yonkers

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:49 (twenty-one years ago)

You auld meanie, Cabbage. Haven't you had your nutragrain yet?

Sarah (starry), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

i r a little jealous of this boy

it's now the surface noise's turn to be embarrassed (electricsound), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

no-one likes me?

Dave M. (rotten03), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Neither is it Mr Barang.

Sarah (starry), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

If yer a mobile phone addict with a crush, it's actually better to start a relationship with someone without a mobile. It really cuts down on all that "Oh my god, should I call him or not - what if I just TEXT HIM, that doesn't count, no really..." sort of anxiety.

You either have to talk to him, or not. It's much simpler.

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

that'll be it Star-bar.

I have had a white chocolate and strawberry muffin though.

I thought I knew who it was, but now I don't.

nad it ain't Pete as HE HAS A MOBILE PHONE NOW!!!!!!

chris (chris), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:51 (twenty-one years ago)

B-b-b-but this is the noughties! There's a whole part of the entire THING that is supposed to be conducted by text message!! No-one does the phone talky thing anymore! It's okay during the week, for email - hurrah hurrah, but what about the weekends? Lor luv a duck.

Sarah (starry), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:52 (twenty-one years ago)

(Who d'you think it was, Cabz0r?! None of you know this chap, I reckon).

Sarah (starry), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:53 (twenty-one years ago)

oh I couldn't possibly say

chris (chris), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah man! I'm quite curious now, go on, email me...

Sarah (starry), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Being serious for a moment? I actually think that mobile phones are far more harmful to new/potential relationships than they ever are beneficial. Instant access to your crush on that scale is a bad thing. Delayed gratification and the waiting thing are an inherant part of a good beginning.

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 09:56 (twenty-one years ago)

mobiles were essential for me and Vic getting together I think, there was much texting going on before we finally got together

chris (chris), Friday, 26 March 2004 10:05 (twenty-one years ago)

when are we going to quit this platonic tariff then?

stevem (blueski), Friday, 26 March 2004 10:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh yes. Getting nice little messages at random times when you don't have to be sitting in front of a computer=great. And it removes the awkwardness/formality of a 'phone call.

xpost

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 26 March 2004 10:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Texting is good for little "I thought of you" moments, as well.

Sarah (starry), Friday, 26 March 2004 10:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I had huge phone bills when I first met James. We were in constant contact via email/text messages/phone. Mobile phones are U&K in a new crushthing. But yay you Starry, much fun on the cards for you methinks.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 26 March 2004 10:15 (twenty-one years ago)

And already I am being bullied into sodding karaoke tonight. And yes, to everyone I was mentioning this to on Wednesday, it IS in the flipping Archway Tavern. I am petrified.

Sarah (starry), Friday, 26 March 2004 10:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Wait up, karaoke with crushee?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 26 March 2004 10:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Texting is good for little "I thought of you" moments, as well.

Exactly why I think mobiles are SHITE for early relationships. Because I get neurotic if I don't get them, and boys get neurotic if they DO get them.

Sorry to be the lone voice of dissent here, but I don't think that HSA and I would have had quite such a successful early relationship if he'd had a mobile.

Anyway, this is besides the point. I'm trying to make Starry feel excited about her crush's phonelessness, rather than nervous! I'm sure it'll be fine!

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 10:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Arrgh the Archway. I won't be able to give you A1 moral support, Starry: I'm off to Portsmouth after work. But hey! you can go to Cheeko's Nite Club (part of the Archway Tavern 'complex') after the karaoke!

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 26 March 2004 10:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Kate does haf a point though - meng on the whole do tend to be less involved with the mobular phones/sms tings than the hem-hem laydeez, and neuroses are not uncommon when one person is more obsessed with the phone than t'other.

Sarah (starry), Friday, 26 March 2004 10:22 (twenty-one years ago)

uh, not everyone is that neurotic kate. i recommend Morse Code as an alternative anyway

stevem (blueski), Friday, 26 March 2004 10:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Good grief. I have no idea what this place is like but I'm getting the fear. I don't even know if I'll make it...

Sarah (starry), Friday, 26 March 2004 10:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Exactly! So this way, if he *doesn't* text you, you can automatically write off the whole neurosis that he's not really into you, and know for certain that he's not texting coz he doesn't have a phone.

And you can judge the neurosis of your crush by other things, like whether he phones you or not. Heh.

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 10:23 (twenty-one years ago)

1) Most girls *are* actually that neurotic. They just won't admit it outside their diaries.

2) Errrmmm... no offense or anything (please!) but seriously. I know I'm fairly... OK, make that COMPLETELY neurotic, but I don't think Starry will be too insulted if I insinuate that she might possibly somewhere in the neurotic neighbourhood, even if not actually on my street, and therefore this might actually apply!

Humph.

(Please don't hit me for that, Starry.)

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 10:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Calm down, dear! It's really a very GOOD neurosis!

Sarah (starry), Friday, 26 March 2004 10:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Hello, mum! I'm on the internet!!!

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 10:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Also - I beat him at Scrabble, although I think I played a stinker of a game and played a phoney bingo. (It COULD be a word, but I doubts it). Ah lovely Scrabble. Who says I am not rock and roll.

Sarah (starry), Friday, 26 March 2004 10:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Rob said that My Potential Crush (TM) was very rock n roll. But perhaps it was just the hair.

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 10:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Is this potential crush er, the geezer with longish lightbrown hair? (It was dark, that might not even have been the right colour...)

Sarah (starry), Friday, 26 March 2004 10:48 (twenty-one years ago)

It wasn't longish, it was more sort of Rod Stewart mulletty. And it's Colette wot decided I had this crush, not me!

(Was yer crush at the Freaky Disco, Starry, or are we all guessing in vain?)

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 10:49 (twenty-one years ago)

In that case, I dinnae think I saw your crushette.

You'll all be guessing in vain, you don't know him. Man, if you knew him there's no way I'd be talking about him on here, innit! I feel iffy talking about it in public anyway, but as I feel top of the morning, what the hell. :) :)

Sarah (starry), Friday, 26 March 2004 10:53 (twenty-one years ago)

hooray

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 26 March 2004 10:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Hee.

Sarah (starry), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:00 (twenty-one years ago)

More crushtalk! Everyone is in a training meeting and I have no one to talk to in my office!

(Is it wrong to develop a crush just because you're bored?)

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought that was the real reason everyone does it.

rainy (rainy), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it wrong to develop a crush just because it's sunny? Actually I haven't, but I kinda want to.

There are lots of men here who SMELL really nice, but unfortunately none of them have the looks to match. I *could* get by with a merely olfactory crush I guess...

Archel (Archel), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Sigh. I so said I wasn't having crushes on IRL or even internet people any more. Guess I'll just have to google air-cunnilingus photos of Busted, then.

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Arrrgh! The image of that has destroyed all feelings of crush-ness and replaced them with pure and utter fear!

Sarah (starry), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:08 (twenty-one years ago)

There are lots of men here who SMELL really nice

I'm crushing on the perfume of the classy middle-aged lady who was sitting behind me on the bus last night. It seemed to be a Guerlain, (maybe a bit too fresh and modern) but I couldn't work out what it was. Gorgeous, anyhow. Mostly on public transport you get horrible big whiffs of market knockoff Poison or somesuch.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:12 (twenty-one years ago)

But... but... Starry.... waaaaahhhh!

http://members.lycos.nl/busted1986/James78.jpg

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Man!

I was showing off my Busted scarf last night, you know, the one I have absolutely no intention of giving away, or anything daft like that :)

Sarah (starry), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:23 (twenty-one years ago)

D'oh! Do you have to remind me of how I had to part with the Busted scarf...? I still miss it.

But way.

1) It was Catty's birthday and it was nice to give it to her
2) She did actually ask me to pick her up some merch at the concert
and...
3) SHE DID GIVE A COPY OF THE SUPER-INDIE BUSTED TOUR-ONLY CD-SINGLE WITH SPECIAL INTERACTIVE BACKSTAGE FOOTAGE!!! Of Charlie not letting James get a word in edgewise in an interview, awww, how sweet.

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:25 (twenty-one years ago)

That picture isn't work-safe! (someone at work might think I'm looking at a Busted site then point and laugh)

robster (robster), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:26 (twenty-one years ago)

You should have stumped up the dosh for two.

Sarah (starry), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Ha-ha!

BUSTED PR0N SITES?!?! WHERE?!?!? LET ME AT 'EM!!!

(Shit, I haven't actually checked Fandomination.net or whatever the latest FanFix site is...)

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I mean, there's no shame when it comes to unofficial Busted merchandise, man.

Sarah (starry), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm all pro busted, but I can't believe that Kate has a crush on the worst one. He's so annoying in interviews, I'd love to meet him and tell him that his hero Michael Jackson would only ever talk to him in order to get him to sit on his lap and wriggle.

chris (chris), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, but I didn't actually *have* the dosh for two. This was before I got my job, remember?

x-post - I love him because he *IS* so annoying in interviews! He's the irritating one who writes all the songs!

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:29 (twenty-one years ago)

(Besides, Cis agrees, he's the cutest because he's the most kickable.)

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:30 (twenty-one years ago)

How old is he, 11?

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:31 (twenty-one years ago)

20, thank you. He was born the year I lost my virginity. I don't like to think about that.

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:32 (twenty-one years ago)

My Potential Crush (TM) is actually 2 months older than me, and therefore I think perhaps ineligible for crushhood.

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:35 (twenty-one years ago)

There's a lot of shame re: Busted fanfic, though. Don't do it!

Sarah (starry), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I would imagine it would be really, really, bad. i.e. worse than Hanson. Either written by ACTUAL 13 year old girls, (therefore poorly written and shite) or dirty old women pretending to be 13 year old girls (actually, the rare times I find this, it's fantastic, but unlikely...)

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:38 (twenty-one years ago)

BUSTED SLASH, YES, THANK YOU, THANK YOU GOD!!!

http://www.fandomination.net/?mode=navigation&categoryid=1817

(Does someone else want to check this out first, because I *know* that none of it is going to be work safe...)

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Of course not. You're on your own with this one.

Sarah (starry), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I've sent it to Catty. She'll proof it (and probably edit it and point out all the spelling and grammar errors) as soon as she gets back from Paris or wherever she's flounced off to...

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:47 (twenty-one years ago)

(I'm sorry I killed the thread.)

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

feck awf!!! ;-)

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Mock me, will you...

(Why yes, there is a fanfict called "Crashed The Wedding" but unfortunately, it's Charlie fanfict, ugh, the eyebrows, evil eyebrows just kill the eroticism...)

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 11:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Eeeeeeeh the eyebrows! Run away etc.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 26 March 2004 12:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 12:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't know. But it's marvellous, really, isn't it? Damn, this being chirpy lark doenae fit very well, come back mopery.

Psycho Kate (kate), Friday, 26 March 2004 16:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Mm mm I just saw a forgotten workplace crush in the form of the tall, dark, mysterious, handsome, French, basketball-playing, teaching assistant...

Archel (Archel), Friday, 26 March 2004 16:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Mooro wins description of the day.

Ally C (Ally C), Friday, 26 March 2004 18:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I think that was a very hurtful thing for Kate to say.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 26 March 2004 18:48 (twenty-one years ago)

'outdo' = exceptionally weak verb but didn't have time to think of better.

Mooro (Mooro), Friday, 26 March 2004 18:53 (twenty-one years ago)

do many americans txt message? i really rarely do this.

Ask For Samantha (thatgirl), Friday, 26 March 2004 18:57 (twenty-one years ago)

It no longer seems to be the case that Americans just don't have mobile phones. So what explains this curious (lack of) phenomenon?

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 26 March 2004 19:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I never use text messages because it seems that no one knows how to reply to them.

Mandee, Friday, 26 March 2004 19:12 (twenty-one years ago)

oh everyone has them. just at least among people I know there isn't any text messaging going on.

The only time I've done so has been to harass Hstencil while he was on a date.

Ask For Samantha (thatgirl), Friday, 26 March 2004 19:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I think because it's just as cheap/cheaper to call people as it is to text them.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 26 March 2004 19:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Sam - I know people have them. That's what I said, I think. I was wondering why people didn't send them so much as here in the UK (and elsewhere, I think). It's an odd thing.

Dan - that's often the case here, but people be texting all the same.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 26 March 2004 19:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Also, America = Land O' The Luddites.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 26 March 2004 19:15 (twenty-one years ago)

outfox?

Too much writhing for foxes, but certainly foxy.

Mooro (Mooro), Friday, 26 March 2004 19:59 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm back from ATP. it was brilliant fun, and i admitted my complicated crushes while drunker than i thought on vodka-laced slush puppies...whoops!

kate, will it make it better or worse that your potential crush/my asymetric friend is looking for a new (mullet-less) haircut?

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 08:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't have a crush on him and even if I did sometimes haircuts don't make the crush go away, which is, indeed, the test of true crushhood. But it doesn't matter anyway as my new crush isn't on a BOY at all but on my NEW MINT GREEN JAZZMASTER!!!!

Super-Kate (kate), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 08:49 (twenty-one years ago)

ha! i think he'd have a crush on you for having a crush on his mini ipod. he loves it so much...

i surprised myself by not developing any new crushes at ATP. even though it was full of young, cute, indie rock boys with spiky/floppy hair and glasses, it just seemed like more trouble than it was worth. does this mean i'm old?

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 08:56 (twenty-one years ago)

*nods*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 09:05 (twenty-one years ago)

ATP was a bit odd like that. I did develop a serious crush on the bassist from Atombombpocketknife, mind, but that was far too predictable.

Ricardo (RickyT), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 09:16 (twenty-one years ago)

all my friends had crushes on bobby conn's violinist...

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 09:25 (twenty-one years ago)

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 09:39 (twenty-one years ago)

really? that's really interesting...i'll pass along the sad news to the boys...

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 09:45 (twenty-one years ago)

That was not an iPod. It was smaller than my mobile.

Sigh, I'm kinda glad I didn't go to ATP now. I'm being dragged to an indie-rock show tonight, but aaahhh, none of the boys are as cute as bubblegum boys.

Super-Kate (kate), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 16:44 (twenty-one years ago)

just got back from the walk in the park and HOLY CRAP DUNE IS ONE OF HER FAVORITE MOVIES!! this girl is THE coolest. im mean DAMN! got her number. i am one happy camper.

Felonious Drunk (Felcher), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 20:06 (twenty-one years ago)

As the weekend approaches, you'll ease up a little, but come across as dashing and charming. A little patience will go a long way. The weekend itself is all about communication, though nothing really serious will fall out of it.

Lauren, where'd you get this horoscope from? Aries unite indeed. I had a fairly flirty weekend, but my God, could this country/the tourism trade please produce more attractive girls in my age group? It's making me crazy.

Oh, and Happy Belated, Ronan.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 19 July 2004 17:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes. I agree. I like the Springfox thread, especially. Also it is that bit more interesting, now that I have met Lauren, in the flesh, I mean, in the pub.

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Friday, 17 February 2006 14:16 (twenty years ago)

Everyone has different dealbreakers.

I mean, considering that you're a writer, it's understandable that language would be so important to you.

(Ok, I'm sleeping with a bloke who thinks Bon Jovi is acceptible music, but... well, I deal.)

Boris and the Johnsons (kate), Friday, 17 February 2006 14:16 (twenty years ago)

But you couldn't seriously have sex with someone who had used 'fanks' could you? It's what annoying girls in primary school who plaited one another's hair in assembly would put on notes.

I am probably slightly made.

Anna (Anna), Friday, 17 February 2006 14:19 (twenty years ago)

Mad. Even.

Anna (Anna), Friday, 17 February 2006 14:21 (twenty years ago)

I'm finding as i get older, I'm willing to put up with things I may not have as a younger person.

POOP BITCH (Mandee), Friday, 17 February 2006 14:22 (twenty years ago)

(It was a group email too, not just to me)

Anna (Anna), Friday, 17 February 2006 14:24 (twenty years ago)

(Also, I say "muchly". Humph.)

I don't know. Obviously, I'm putting up with the liking Bon Jovi, but if he were in a *band* that sounded like Bon Jovi, I'd show him the curb, pointy nose or no. Pretty much my only serious dealbreaker these days is smoking.

Boris and the Johnsons (kate), Friday, 17 February 2006 14:24 (twenty years ago)

Stupidity is about my only dealbreaker

Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 17 February 2006 14:25 (twenty years ago)

... but thankfully I have an extremely narrow definition of "stupid"!

Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 17 February 2006 14:26 (twenty years ago)

the "fanks" would be more of a probationary offense for me rather than a total dealbreaker.

Oh, yay, a crush thread that isn't a crush of shame thread, because when have I ever been ashamed of crushing on Dirty Dronerock Boys?

This Spring's latest crush
http://entertainment.pipex.com/Images/MyleeneKlassNintendogPIPEX1.jpg

a) 'Cos she's lovely.
b) 'Cos she's a total geek (Astronomy nerd to be precise).
and
c) I saw her on some dumb celebrity quiz program on the Beeb where she actually looked offended at how stupid the questions she was being asked actually. You've got to love that.

Stone Monkey (Stone Monkey), Thursday, 4 May 2006 13:54 (nineteen years ago)

And she has a lovely pair of puppies...
Sorry. Couldn't resist...

Stone Monkey (Stone Monkey), Thursday, 4 May 2006 13:55 (nineteen years ago)

Another boy in the same coffee shop. I think it is a ruse on behalf of the owners to keep me going back for caffinated products.

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 4 May 2006 14:34 (nineteen years ago)

Oh, is this the one we met in the pub at the weekend after failing miserably to get into the Slits?

I think you just have a crush on your pusher.

Floating down, the sound resounds around the icy waters underground. (kate), Thursday, 4 May 2006 14:36 (nineteen years ago)

Yes! Yum yum.

Today we talked about producing a hit pop song together (sorry and all, but I was trying to flirt with him) after my horoscope said "Luck today is linked to pop music." Then he spoiled it all by saying "yeah, now we just need a huge soul singer type to do the vocals and some model to front it all and wave her arms about on Top of the Pops."

But then he gave me an iced latte and thee world became better. (Pusher? Oh God, he's going to have me selling myself on the streets to support my skinny latte habit.)

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 4 May 2006 14:48 (nineteen years ago)

Grrrrrrrr...

It's so easy to have a crush on the pusher, because he provides you with such joy, and the pleasure you experience with the drug/coffee is linked to the pleasure you experience at the sight of him, in the crush centres of your brain. DO NOT PIMP YOURSELF FOR LATTE!!!

I may need to pimp myself to support my pedal habit, though.

wtf is wrong w/ you

-+-+-+++- (ooo), Thursday, 4 May 2006 14:51 (nineteen years ago)

I only have crushes on real life people who know me, so although I am tempted I don't think I'll post them here. PINING AWAY FACE.

Laurel (Laurel), Thursday, 4 May 2006 14:53 (nineteen years ago)

No, no, those are the worst kind! Crushes on people you know ONLY BRING PAIN!!! Crushes on pop stars are waaaaaayyyy better.

Floating down, the sound resounds around the icy waters underground. (kate), Thursday, 4 May 2006 14:54 (nineteen years ago)

I think maybe they just employ really attractive people.

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 4 May 2006 14:57 (nineteen years ago)

But the real life people you sometimes get to drag into convenient doorways! Totally worth it.

Laurel (Laurel), Thursday, 4 May 2006 15:17 (nineteen years ago)

Not in my life. Waaaaaahhhhh!!!

Or if you do, they sober up and tell you it was all a big mistake.

Boo hiss, more pictures of Secret Machines, please.

why do you whine about men all the time

-+-+-+++- (ooo), Thursday, 4 May 2006 15:19 (nineteen years ago)

how does kate go from sweaty old ugly men to heroin spotted pedal stompin rock boys?

sunny successor (katharine), Thursday, 4 May 2006 15:21 (nineteen years ago)

Female sexuality is remarkably diverse. "There's just something about him," is the phrase I hear most often from myself and female friends when describing those they fancy.

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 4 May 2006 15:26 (nineteen years ago)

no. thats not it.

sunny successor (katharine), Thursday, 4 May 2006 15:37 (nineteen years ago)

"There's just something about him,"

And if everyone knew what it was, I guess it wouldn't have the same effect.

Konal Doddz (blueski), Thursday, 4 May 2006 15:39 (nineteen years ago)

it's the axe effect, obv. our women/daughters/sisters are not safe.

andrew m. (andrewmorgan), Thursday, 4 May 2006 15:56 (nineteen years ago)

Gorgeous, Portugese-speaking, guitar-playing, singing boy who is too young, beautiful, brilliant and privileged for me. Siiiigh.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Thursday, 4 May 2006 16:53 (nineteen years ago)

No one, damn it. Someone find me a crush.

Ally C (Ally C), Thursday, 4 May 2006 17:36 (nineteen years ago)

I had just recovered from the worst, heart-breaking, sleep-preventing crush in years, to have him call me this evening FOR A CHAT and turf me right back into 'OH MY GOD HE'S PERFECT!' territory. Except, of course, he's not.

(But he is, if you know what I mean.)

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 4 May 2006 18:53 (nineteen years ago)

people have some serious spring fever. everyone i talk to is so crushy lately!

Vernon Jackson (kate), Friday, 12 May 2006 09:39 (nineteen years ago)

...if only I could find a picture of him without the bloody accordion in the way. Oh, a girl can dream.

Vernon Jackson (kate), Friday, 12 May 2006 11:30 (nineteen years ago)

Not so much a crush as just massive amounts of lust. I'm finding it quite hard to concentrate.
