What makes a man/woman sexy?

It can be an attribute, personality trait, tick or habit, body part, whatever. My answer is probably gender neutral, but I say inner confidence. If someone is confident in their abilities and appearance, I think it adds a great deal to their sex appeal. Thoughts?

Mac Truck, Monday, 29 March 2004 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

especially if they have big 'uns.

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Monday, 29 March 2004 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Really big muscles and hairy chest. And then, if you're taking about men, it would proabably be...

Skottie, Monday, 29 March 2004 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

That whole confidence idea, while playing some part in attractiveness, tends to be vastly overstated.

Mac Truck otm.
In newspaper photos Cherie Blair looks like a wide mouthed frog.
On film or in person she's very sexy, as per Mac Truck's theory.

..., Monday, 29 March 2004 17:20 (twenty-two years ago)

A lack of confidence can be unattractive in much the same way that a lack of a nose could be, which doesn't mean I'm attracted to people because they have noses.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 29 March 2004 17:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, nose are OK. It's mostly noses.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 29 March 2004 17:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Ok, then if not confidence, what are y'all attracted to?

Mac Truck, Monday, 29 March 2004 17:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Are you not listening?

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 29 March 2004 17:25 (twenty-two years ago)

People can be confident in such a way that it's more repellant than attractive. And vice versa, certainly (lack of confidence can be equally unattractive).

A person's personality in its entirety contributes to the perception of their attractiveness, in addition to how they look aesthetically. Confidence gets singled out rather often--sometimes, it seems, to the exclusion of other traits. (xp times three)

JuliaA (j_bdules), Monday, 29 March 2004 17:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I like noses. Can this thread be about people with good noses instead?

Cathy (Cathy), Monday, 29 March 2004 17:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I barely notice noses unless they're very prominent or something. I had a friend who was only attracted to guys with big noses for a time. Heh.

JuliaA (j_bdules), Monday, 29 March 2004 17:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Ok, then if not confidence, what are y'all attracted to?

I honestly don't know; there are common links among women I've ended up in relationships with, but that's a whole different thing. There are fewer commonalities among the women I've slept with, but obviously that list would be a small percentage of the women I've been attracted to.

Voice and eyes are important, but that's a practical thing: you hear a lot of one and see a lot of the other, so if you don't like them, you're going to notice a lot faster than elbows.

Nonphysically, a mix of interests which includes things I know I like, things I don't like enough to put energy into, and things I end up liking once I'm introduced to them -- but this is a) more a relationship criterion than an attractiveness one, and b) so generic as to be empty.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 29 March 2004 17:34 (twenty-two years ago)

What makes a good nose? Why is that sexy?

Mac Truck (Mac Truck), Monday, 29 March 2004 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

To a large extent, too -- this is not about noses, xpost kinda -- people find attractive the things they want to be attracted to in order to project something about themselves. It's a more subtle and harmless version of the "not hanging out with the friends who don't make you look cool" thing in 7th grade. People want their tastes to say something about them that isn't said about other people, without, generally, going so far as fetishism. It's the connoisseur myth: the idea that preferring one kind of bottled water, one kind of sea salt, sheets above a certain thread count, means you know more about, and better appreciate, water, food, or fabric.

That doesn't really answer your question.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 29 March 2004 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

what is your definition of a good nose?

mine is sorta big lately.

Mandee, Monday, 29 March 2004 17:41 (twenty-two years ago)

i personally like nice voices and nice eyebrows.

mandee, Monday, 29 March 2004 17:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Big lately? Are you Pinnochio?

Mac Truck (Mac Truck), Monday, 29 March 2004 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

no. I think i just noticed how big it is.

mandee, Monday, 29 March 2004 17:50 (twenty-two years ago)

This is a nosy question.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 29 March 2004 17:51 (twenty-two years ago)

At the superficial level, I guess I do kinda like a quirky nose, and shiny longish hair, and non-irksome cuteness.

Personality wise, thoughtfulness coupled with a lame sense of humour.

I usually equate the confidence thing with pushiness and brashness which, I don't think is all that sexy, but then maybe that's because I'm not particularly confident.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 29 March 2004 17:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm gonna keep to the nose metaphor re: confidence: noses of normal proportion are virtually invisible (moreso than if they were invisible), because we expect them to be there and they are; noses of unusual proportion draw attention to themselves, which some people like and some people don't.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 29 March 2004 17:55 (twenty-two years ago)

The breasts/penis combo is presumably what makes a man/woman sexy.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 29 March 2004 17:58 (twenty-two years ago)

combo?

Cathy (Cathy), Monday, 29 March 2004 18:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I would give Google examples, but I am at work.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 29 March 2004 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

if we're getting technical, it's pheromones, innit?

jel -- (jel), Monday, 29 March 2004 18:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought that was moths.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 29 March 2004 18:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think moths have ever made a woman more attractive to me.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 29 March 2004 18:04 (twenty-two years ago)

It can be pheromones, but you can be attracted to people you don't meet in the flesh, too (even leaving aside "meeting on the internet/phone/penpals/whatever," actors and musicians and whatnot). There's that test online, for finding out what body/face/etc. types you're attracted to ... let me see if I can find the url, it's interesting to take even if you don't agree with it.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 29 March 2004 18:04 (twenty-two years ago)

on the confidence thing, im one of the most self deprecating people i know, but ive been told by a lot of people that they like the way i carry myself and that i seem confident.
physically i'm into voices and eyes. not just the sound of the voice, but the way people phrase things, how they pronounce specific letters and words, that shit can drive me up the wall. if a girl has really nice eyes that seem to stare right into me and balance out her face well i crumble. particularly a nice pair of brown eyes that seem like theyve got a thin shield of glass around them..... damn.
i like people who's fashion sense gives me the impression that they like colors that i like. i know that's really vague, but i know it when i see it.
personality-wise it's the usual. funny, thoughtful, likes to dance crazy, really into either a)music b)art c)movies d) a+b e) b+c f)a+c or g)all of the above.

Felonious Drunk (Felcher), Monday, 29 March 2004 18:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Here we go.

(It's not like the "which Care Bear are you" quizzes, it's more like the Keirsey sorter, only visual.)

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 29 March 2004 18:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha, it's like a scientific Your Face Or Mine.

Cathy (Cathy), Monday, 29 March 2004 18:13 (twenty-two years ago)

intelligence, some form of artistic ability, and a bangin' arse

mookieproof (mookieproof), Monday, 29 March 2004 18:14 (twenty-two years ago)

big eyes, perhaps confidence but not necessarily bags of it, I like talkers though. sarcasm and all that kind of stuff too. I like hyper or enthusiastic people sometimes, but other times they can be annoying so I don't know if that's a quality or not. I guess I mean those sort of crazy girls you meet in clubs who everyone fancies and who allow everyone to think it's reciprocated. Yeah them.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 29 March 2004 18:23 (twenty-two years ago)

oh, and funny!

mookieproof (mookieproof), Monday, 29 March 2004 18:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm gonna keep to the nose metaphor

All right, but then refer to it as "the nasal metaphor"

Skottie, Monday, 29 March 2004 18:26 (twenty-two years ago)

the test said:

"I'm a sucker for a pretty face, and I don't care if she's leather or lace"

actually, it was an hmmm interesting test!

jel -- (jel), Monday, 29 March 2004 18:52 (twenty-two years ago)

If I remember right (maybe I'll take it again), mine said I'm attracted to "very beautiful women," which I thought was sort of an empty statement :) (It said other things, too, though.)

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 29 March 2004 18:53 (twenty-two years ago)

That .gif isn't making anyone but me laugh to the pain is it?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 29 March 2004 18:56 (twenty-two years ago)

"You like men with strong, manly noses, balanced with an equally prominent chin."

I'm not sure what a strong, manly nose even looks like.

JuliaA (j_bdules), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I forgot how many of the photos in this test look photoshopped.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I took the test too. I thought it was great, but expected a little more in the way of scientific explanations for my preferences. Said I like women with long, narrow faces, big eyes round lips...not too surprising. I don't think there's a guy on this board who would prefer narrow lips. Nothing better than a full set of lips!

Mac Truck (Mac Truck), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:04 (twenty-two years ago)

"You like men with strong, manly noses, balanced with an equally prominent chin."

Or you like men with strong features...kind of another no brainer.

Mac Truck (Mac Truck), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:05 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't care how full the lips are as long as they're ON MINE

mookieproof (mookieproof), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:07 (twenty-two years ago)

"Some may call one of your types "Pretty Boys," but all you know is that they're gorgeous. The combination of classic good looks with small noses, beautiful eyes, and full lips is hard to resist. These guys tend to be clean shaven, have clear skin, and get good hair cuts. They're taking good care of themselves so they can be "pretty" just for you!"

My failing in life is probably related to this somehow.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:07 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't care how full the lips are as long as they're ON MINE

Which set?

Mac Truck (Mac Truck), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Short version of my results (click around, it gives you a lot):

25 or older
Very beautiful women
Sharp, narrow chins
Wide and angular "diamond" or heart-shaped faces
Blondes

(That last one doesn't sound like me, but like I said above, I'm not sure what I'm attracted to, exactly.)

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:09 (twenty-two years ago)

It is rubbish. Apparently my favourite types are women "with narrow chins and nicely angular faces" and women with "wide, almost square, jawline. They lack the pointed chins (and other dainty features) that are common among more delicate-looking". That sorts that out then.

Also, "We describe a lot of the women you found attractive as "Beauty Queens," because of their flawless beauty and winning smiles". So I found women with those qualities attractive, eh? How extraordinary. One other thing I noticed is that my impression was that I was marking a very high proportion of black and Asian women highly, but there is no comment on that.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:10 (twenty-two years ago)

And apparently I like brown eyes. (I've never dated anyone with brown eyes.)

Did you click all the way through, Martin? There are like ten screens, and several of them should be about race.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I went all the way through (took ages on my slow connection), and saw nothing that said it was about race, nor did I get any comments on same.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:15 (twenty-two years ago)

thank you match for this major epiphany: apparently i too like 'very beautiful women'.

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:17 (twenty-two years ago)

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:18 (twenty-two years ago)

""You like men with strong, manly noses, balanced with an equally prominent chin."

i think this means you like bruce campbell

Felonious Drunk (Felcher), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:23 (twenty-two years ago)

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:29 (twenty-two years ago)

25 or older
Very beautiful women
Sharp, narrow chins
Wide and angular "diamond" or heart-shaped faces
So-called "Ecto-Mesomorphs," with narrow chins and nicely angular faces

TEP! SNAP!

jel -- (jel), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Jesus that test is kind of freaky isn't it. Grade them all, NO, MUCH FASTER, NOW THERE ARE 400 FACES!

It made me feel like a dick, especially cos I only thought one pic was really beautiful.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:35 (twenty-two years ago)

it is entirely, completely, 100% about the tongue

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I guess I'm a dick too b/c I didn't mark WOW on 2-3.

Mac Truck (Mac Truck), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I meant to say that I only marked WOW on 2-3.

Mac Truck (Mac Truck), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah I only marked wow on one girl.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:39 (twenty-two years ago)

These tests are too addictive!

jel -- (jel), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Though there were times it flicked so fast I just clicked whoever.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:39 (twenty-two years ago)

apparently im way into beautiful asian women. never really considered it too much, but the only chick that got a wow out of me was a totally cute asian chick.

Felonious Drunk (Felcher), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Full lips and a skilled tongue do make a good pair.

Mac Truck (Mac Truck), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:44 (twenty-two years ago)

All sciency and shit. Kinda neat though.

dave225 (Dave225), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Asian chicks rule!

Mac Truck (Mac Truck), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Did anyone else think the non-Caucasian women they used had better bone structure, complexion, hair, etc than the Caucasians?

You liked a group of women we call "Gems," because of their diamond or heart-shaped faces. Their pretty faces and light skin are usually framed by blonde, softly curled hair.

But I HATE blondes. One part showed 5 blondes and asked to pick one. I stared at them for at least a minute and eventually just had to click on the one that was the least unappealing.

oops (Oops), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:45 (twenty-two years ago)

i did the same, oops

Felonious Drunk (Felcher), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:46 (twenty-two years ago)

There's something about the energy and youthful appeal of "Cheerleaders" that's hard to resist. We use this name to describe a group of women who's facial features combine feminine beauty with a "tomboy" flair.

Okay that is pretty damn OTM for me. (the feminine with a "tomboy" flair part, not cheerleaders)

oops (Oops), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, almost all of the white girls were butt ugly!

Mac Truck (Mac Truck), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I too only marked WOW on one or two faces. On the first section, the vast majority got marked as a turn off. I'm way too picky for my own good.

oops (Oops), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:50 (twenty-two years ago)

The Asian and Hispanic women were much more attractive than the Caucasian women. Which creeps me out a little, because ethnic fetishes bother me (guys who only date Asian women, etc.).

The only Caucasian woman who really stood out was the one with short dyed hair, a little spiky/messy. Which I could have told them before the test was my type.

(Oops, did you pick the blonde who was looking up and laughing? I had a tough time choosing, too)

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:50 (twenty-two years ago)

all of the boys were butt ugly

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Was it me or did they put a mans face on one of the girls? I'm not joking, I swear one of the faces was like a smirking uncle and looked badly photoshopped

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:50 (twenty-two years ago)

whatever. Women are hott, The End.

mookieproof (mookieproof), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:50 (twenty-two years ago)

There was one girl who looked kind of French who got my wow.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:51 (twenty-two years ago)

apparently im among the top 1% of pickiness among men in my age group.

Felonious Drunk (Felcher), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I know which woman you're talking about Ronan. Brown hair, serious expression, broad nose and huge jawbone. Yech.
(xpost yeah i think i gave that girl a wow as well)

oops (Oops), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I was in the top 12%. Where are the guys who would have hit it with anyone/everyone?

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Of the white women, there was two red heads that were cute, one blond with shorter hair, and one with spiky hair, someone else already mentioned.

Mac Truck (Mac Truck), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:54 (twenty-two years ago)

also, this has confirmed my suspicion that despite my life-long proclamation that im a blue-eyes kinda guy, i ultimately fall for the almond-eyed girls.

Felonious Drunk (Felcher), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Your photo choices suggest a woman over 30 is probably getting a little old for your tastes
You seemed interested in dating a woman at least 30 or older

Paul Eater (eater), Monday, 29 March 2004 19:59 (twenty-two years ago)

all of the boys were butt ugly

Yeah, they were all pretty unimpressive -- I thought I was just being overly picky and superficial.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 29 March 2004 20:09 (twenty-two years ago)

so the spiky-haired sears-model "hunk" type doesn't do it for you either, huh?

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 29 March 2004 20:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Sears-model is being too kind.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 29 March 2004 20:17 (twenty-two years ago)

you're right. bradlee's model.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 29 March 2004 20:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Martin - did you click on the 'full results' section in the email they sent you?

There's too much to take in!

I am surprised by the results. esp this:

Very Open: You have a more open and accepting view of what makes a woman attractive than other men your age. In fact, you fall in the most open and non-traditional subgroup of men who have taken this test. Good for you! This doesn't necessarily mean that looks are less important to you than to other men. You simply have a unique set of criteria and keep your eyes out for special qualities that make a woman, who may seem ordinary to most, extraordinary to you. See the pie chart below to see how many men fall into picky or open categories.

(I was in the 5% of men of my age who had 'very unique' tastes in women.

I guess this ties in with the fact that my favourite facial type was the "Meso-Endomorph", with full, oval face and rounded chins, at the same time as my second favourite type was "Ectomorphs", who seem to be completely opposite - triangular, with pointy chins! I didn't like the examples of either they showed me in the results.

Bizarrely, the summary text implied I liked 'large and lovely' women (there was some rubbish 'good for you!' bit that went with it, but I think this must have been referring to the Meso-Endomorph face shape that I liked, which it said is often found with voluptuous women. Because on the actual 'body type' results, it said I preferred skinny women.

Also, on the summary it went on about my liking redheads, but when it came to the hair colour section of the full report, it said I liked dark brown hair.

Maybe I'm just mixed up. I think I'll take the test again. There was one woman I should have wowed.

Two words: Scrabble prowess.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Monday, 29 March 2004 22:14 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, I've done it again, and the results this time seem closer to the truth. But they still completely contradict themselves in some areas. On one page it tells me that 68% of men are not at all interested in my type of women, and on the next it says:

Very Selective: You are very selective, compared to most men, in the types of women you find appealing. You're wowed by "movie star" good looks, and in general, appreciate women with "traditional" or "mainstream" appeal. You probably face a lot of competition going after the most popular women.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 29 March 2004 22:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I couldn't be bothered reading it all but it said I was very selective but liked lots of girls that many others did not.

it said I had a thing for redheads, too.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 29 March 2004 23:06 (twenty-two years ago)

The most marked change between the two times I took the test was that I went from being 'very open' to 'very picky/selective' (as seen above). That's kind of odd.

I marked these two women with a WOW!, but then so did most men, apparently.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 29 March 2004 23:15 (twenty-two years ago)

all these faces, whizzing past, they start to all look unreal and, actually, liquified.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 29 March 2004 23:16 (twenty-two years ago)

thing is I used to really like redheads, but I'm pretty sure that was just because of over-extending my liking of one particular redhead. Fake redheads are cool, though. Just so long as they don't look, you know, Irish.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 29 March 2004 23:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought most of the guys in that quiz were extremely ordinary and trad cheesecakey american, which made it really hard to do... interestng that I got this result then:

"Very Open: You have a more open and accepting view of what makes a man handsome than other women your age. In fact, you fall in the most open and non-traditional subgroup of women who have taken this test. Good for you!"

Thats so true anyway. WHat makes a guy sexy? Eyes, hair, mouth; looking intensely at me with a cheeky grin, and being hilariously and absurdly funny/silly.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 29 March 2004 23:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I never got to rate the first one of RJGs picks. She looks kind of evil.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 29 March 2004 23:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Very Picky: It's official: You're "picky." The fact is you are drawn to the most beautiful of the beautiful. You know what you like in women and are more selective than most men your age. Your tastes seem instinctual. You'd make a great casting agent, because you have a good eye for women who have "star quality." In real life, your high standards may be an obstacle for you. It's hard to find a woman with the strong features you like, who's also well-rounded in other ways. Still, you know the importance of a real physical "spark" in a relationship, and aren't willing (or able) to settle for less. The challenge is finding a woman who really wows you physically, even if she's not the most attractive woman in the room.
I am a horrible human being.

Sym (shmuel), Monday, 29 March 2004 23:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh my test also pointed out I dont seem to like anyone over 25, which is true, alarmingly, haha (I'm 33. What an old pervo).

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 29 March 2004 23:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I like evil.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 29 March 2004 23:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I was told I only liked people over 25 and under 35, and I'm 23. Odd.

Sym (shmuel), Monday, 29 March 2004 23:33 (twenty-two years ago)

same here.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 29 March 2004 23:34 (twenty-two years ago)

This was my top guy apparently.
http://images.match.com/attraction/physical/images/seekreport/1134-mf_03.jpg

My type?

"Pups." Their look goes with a certain loveable, puppy dog appeal. They're nice-looking guys, but they are imperfect enough to be approachable. Their big eyes and goofy smiles convey warmth and kindness. Like puppies, these guys can be a bit awkward and clumsy, so be prepared to have a drink or two spilled on you! Only about 1 in 10 women (11%) are attracted to this unique type, so they'll be flattered that you appreciate their charm.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 29 March 2004 23:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Interestingly, a lot of the features you liked are not especially popular. They're not what usually defines "mainstream" attractiveness for women.

+

Very Picky: It's official: You're "picky."

= How to never get a date!

bnw (bnw), Monday, 29 March 2004 23:38 (twenty-two years ago)

They've sold Ailsa a pup.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 29 March 2004 23:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I am confused about the difference between picky and selective.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 29 March 2004 23:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Someone back me up on "a lot of the women look photoshopped"!

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 29 March 2004 23:41 (twenty-two years ago)

This is the girl I won. I am trying to find the order form for her.
http://images.match.com/attraction/physical/images/seekreport/1017-ff_02.jpg

bnw (bnw), Monday, 29 March 2004 23:41 (twenty-two years ago)

That guy is not my type really, but there wasn't much to go on. He looks like someone I know, so that's maybe what swung it in his favour (I didn't fancy him, but he looked OK)

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 29 March 2004 23:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't worry Tep - I thought there was a tacit agreement on that point.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 29 March 2004 23:44 (twenty-two years ago)

What did you do when asked who would find you attractive? I just clicked on everyone.

Sym (shmuel), Monday, 29 March 2004 23:46 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, I said a lot of them ended up looking photoshopped.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 29 March 2004 23:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, Sym, that was a bit tricky. I didn't click on everyone because I ran out of time just as my confidence was growing.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 29 March 2004 23:49 (twenty-two years ago)

that was a weird one.

the one where you had to pick the ones you weren't attracted to confused me, too. the tide was forever catching me up.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 29 March 2004 23:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Phew, okay. The thread ballooned while I was out, I missed that.

It disturbed me sometimes, cause I thought "am I just being picky? that one looks like a cartoon version of her own sister."

I clicked on everyone for the "who would find you attractive," but only because I'd taklen the test before: normally, there's this one blonde girl in the mix who I never pick (not the one who looks like Helen Hunt) who has this very sorority girl beer bonging Vassar varsity volleyball look to her, which I didn't realize was a look until I saw her.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 29 March 2004 23:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Two words: Scrabble prowess.

This is entirely true!! Board games have long been a tool of seduction.

Ian Johnson (orion), Monday, 29 March 2004 23:53 (twenty-two years ago)

there were like no middle eastern guys in that lineup, what a ripoff.

teeny (teeny), Monday, 29 March 2004 23:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't connect to that test, but I think that bnw's text results would be pretty similar to mine. All of the redheads thus far are moderately attractive, but none of the non-redheads are.

Anyway, I think the attractiveness of confidence often (but not always) correlates with the confidence of the beholder. Also, it's valued highly more often by women than by men, though the reason why might be complicated. Are these truisms?

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:03 (twenty-two years ago)

There were no really strikingly interesting guys either. I suppose it was meant to be facial features and stuff, and hey I like cute boy next door grins and big wide eyes but not if they're attached to a fat 40 year old with a beard :/

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:03 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, I finally finished taking the test (I started taking it before and said "to hell with this").

Results were basically OTM, but only inasmuch as they describe the only real-life guy I find truly "wow" these days.

The guy the test came back with isn't quite as wow, but was the best of the bunch:

http://images.match.com/attraction/physical/images/seekreport/4062-mf_04.jpg

Your photo choices suggest a man over 35 is probably getting a little old for your tastes
You seemed interested in dating a man at least 35 or older
Mainstream, attractive men
Sharp, narrow chins
Wide and angular "diamond" or heart-shaped faces
So-called "Ecto-Mesomorphs," with narrow chins and nicely angular faces

You appeared to like a number of guys we refer to as "Surfer Dudes." They have a natural "look" and way of presenting themselves that sets them apart from "preppy" or "button down" types. Their hair is medium to long and carefree. Being blonde or having a great tan doesn't hurt either! It's a very popular look and attracts over 40% of women.

Another of the "looks" that you consistently noticed has been described as "Ruggedly Handsome." These men usually have strong, angular faces and "chiseled" features. Forget small button noses! You like men with strong, manly noses, balanced with an equally prominent chin. A tan and weathered look further adds to their overall impression of masculinity. Only 1 in 10 women (9%) are uniquely drawn to this type of man over a more traditional mainstream type.

Faces known scientifically as "Ecto-Mesomorphs" repeatedly caught your eye. Men express this type in two ways. One version has a rectangular face shape that is long and narrow. The other type's face shape is often compared to a diamond, because it is wide at the cheeks and then has a sharply angled jaw. All Ecto-Mesomorph men have striking chins that are prominent and squared-off with a crisp line at the base. This is one of the most idealized male face types and can be found on most movie and music idols. It can hold either bold masculine features or more delicate handsome features, or some sexy combination of both. These men also tend to have lean and muscular builds when they're young. About 78% of other women especially prefer men with this face type.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:04 (twenty-two years ago)

(Is there anyone who took that test who DIDN'T assume that all the people they found attractive would find them attractive?)

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:07 (twenty-two years ago)

actually, these pictures are ridiculous (at least in my strange, color-sensitive brain) - if everyone is wearing the same color shirt, those with features that best suit the shirt color are going to be the most attractive

You appeared to like a number of guys we refer to as "Surfer Dudes."

LOL

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:08 (twenty-two years ago)

hahahahaha

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I clicked v. few, to find me attractive.

if only you could REALLY click people.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, you can.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I think there can be a relationship between attraction-to-confidence and possession-of-confidence, but that it isn't easily mapped; someone who essentially looks for someone to take care of them, or to act as their agent in matters requiring assertiveness, will be drawn to (at least outwardly) confident people, but that doesn't mean everyone drawn to those people is drawn for that reason, if you see what I mean. (I need confidence in the person I'm involved with because, unfairly maybe, I associate it with maturity and don't want to date teenagers. But I don't want anyone to be my agent.)

Also, it's valued highly more often by women than by men, though the reason why might be complicated. Are these truisms?

My suspicion is that this is complicated enough, even without invoking cultural differences, to be inanswerable. I think a lot upthread indicates that people define and map confidence differently, and if the valuation is affected by gender, presumably ditto the def.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Major crosspost there.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:13 (twenty-two years ago)

i wonder if everyone else went mostly by facial expression for "who wouldn't find you attractive" (i.e. she looks pissed, she must hate me)

bnw (bnw), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:14 (twenty-two years ago)

to answer the thread title: umbrellas

A Nairn (moretap), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:15 (twenty-two years ago)

and yellow sundresses!

Ian Johnson (orion), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't really like the girl you lusted after upthread, btw, bnw. Her eyes are rubbish.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:16 (twenty-two years ago)

that was actually a photo of bnw.

you are a dick.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I will get you a birthday present, I promise!

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:18 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, it wasn't bnw.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:18 (twenty-two years ago)

This is the one I said looks like Helen Hunt:

http://images.match.com/attraction/physical/images/seekreport/2678-ff_05.jpg
According to the selections you made in the test, this woman has unique features you like.

She also looks kind of like a blend of half of the women I've slept with (hardly any of those women were Helen Hunt, though).

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:23 (twenty-two years ago)

jeez, I forgot how young I, still, am.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:25 (twenty-two years ago)

This is interesting. I would immediately think 'nah' to her, but now I'm trying to force myself into imagining being with her.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:25 (twenty-two years ago)

That's the thing, I didn't really zoom in on her, either, but she's apparently the sum of parts I like. I wouldn't have picked her as the most attractive of the bunch, though.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:27 (twenty-two years ago)

"hardly"?

yes, quite the resemblance, though Helen Hunt is better looking. Of course, that's usually true.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Okay, none, but "hardly" was funny and alliterative.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:27 (twenty-two years ago)

this was my favorite:
http://images.match.com/attraction/physical/images/seekreport/1170-ff_02.jpg

A Nairn (moretap), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:29 (twenty-two years ago)

No. Odd ears.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:30 (twenty-two years ago)

She's almost pretty, but the ears and frogness just win out.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:31 (twenty-two years ago)

ears are v. important.

hahaha, 'frogness'.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:31 (twenty-two years ago)

there's something about the photography of these people that make them all look awful. : /

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:31 (twenty-two years ago)

what about your frogness??

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:31 (twenty-two years ago)

ok, what about this one? it's kind of similar:
http://images.match.com/attraction/physical/images/seekreport/1209-ff_04.jpg

A Nairn (moretap), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:32 (twenty-two years ago)

TAKE HER AWAY

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:33 (twenty-two years ago)

RJG's picks above are real good, but they aren't smiling. The one on top looks like she just (or is about to) stab someone.

A Nairn (moretap), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry, I've seen her before, but she suddenly seemed most alarming. Again with the ears.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I liked RJG's evil one.

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, re: the post above about lips and so on -- I ended up in the "medium-sized lips, please" category, preferring wide smiles and lips neither too narrow nor too thick. That's one of the things I'm pretty sure I agree with, at least visually.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:36 (twenty-two years ago)

We all like RJG's evil one. I'm kind of mad as hell I didn't get to rate her.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:38 (twenty-two years ago)

mad as hell?

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I clicked her.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:39 (twenty-two years ago)

it said I liked supposably liked "button noses" and my tastes were different the popular choices (yaym, less competition)

(what the heck does medium size lips mean, that could be anything you want it to be)

A Nairn (moretap), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought she might respect flying off the handle.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:39 (twenty-two years ago)

This is so right about me it's not even funny:

http://images.match.com/attraction/physical/images/seekreport/4004-ff_03.jpg

It's basically Jennifer Jason Leigh crossed with the woman I'm seeing.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I got medium lips too.

I couldn't decide if I wanted to have unusual tastes or not.

I like Spencer's too.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:41 (twenty-two years ago)

RJG's evil one is the only one on the thread I've liked so far.

I might die alone?

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I think my two (yep) are just the youngest-looking ones, on there, maybe.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:42 (twenty-two years ago)

this one was good too;
http://images.match.com/attraction/physical/images/seekreport/breasts/bs_female_b.jpg

A Nairn (moretap), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I wasn't very into any of the body drawings.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:43 (twenty-two years ago)

no, they were all a bit difficult to translate.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, those were so generic-looking that I'm not at all sure I'd rate things the same way every time.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I also noticed that, sometimes, the two bust photos would be the same photo. that annoyed me. was I right?

what did the women get photos of?

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:48 (twenty-two years ago)

the stuff

A Nairn (moretap), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I think sometimes it was just the skin tone that varied.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:51 (twenty-two years ago)

once again i find my tastes spookily in sync with n's. should i be alarmed?

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:51 (twenty-two years ago)

rjg's evil one looks like amanda peet.

bnw (bnw), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:51 (twenty-two years ago)

should i be alarmed?

maybe just a bell, around your neck.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:52 (twenty-two years ago)

like N. has.

who is amanda peet?

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Once again, mark? Do fill me in.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm doing the men now, to see what I get.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I think RJG's evil one was my favorite too. Apparently I like girls that don't smile.

Sym (shmuel), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:53 (twenty-two years ago)

just because you like the same shit, N. slow down.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I skipped the "body type" section. It was creeping me out.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I'm putting that in the out of context posts thread, Tep.

Sym (shmuel), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:54 (twenty-two years ago)

she's probably not even evil.

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:54 (twenty-two years ago)

no, probably not. I am glad I called her.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:54 (twenty-two years ago)

not much to elaborate on n, i just suspect from numerous pseudo-perv threads that you are my taste doppelganger.

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:55 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.cinema-stars.com/Peet/images/12.jpg

A Nairn (moretap), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't like her.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:57 (twenty-two years ago)

When I do a google image search for Amanda Peet, she's got no clothes on.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I will reconsider.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:58 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, I like her.

will you introduce me, when I visit, bnw?

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:00 (twenty-two years ago)

only when jeff goldblum is out oif the NYC studio/loft

A Nairn (moretap), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:01 (twenty-two years ago)

he is weird.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Frogness.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:04 (twenty-two years ago)

is there some sort of photo index that i can pick my favourites from without having to take the entire test again? my wow isn't on this thread yet.

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:06 (twenty-two years ago)

They should show up on the full version of your test that was linked to in your email (under 'Your Likes and Dislikes' -> 'Your type'). Though one of my favourites didn't (I never got her in the 1-9 pt rating section to make clear my ardour).

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh dear, I didn't even think about the out of contextness.

The men I would like, if I was looking for men:

25 or older
Very handsome
Sharp, narrow chins
Wide and square-shaped faces
Green eyes
Blonde or light brown hair
"Pretty boys" (this makes sense, I guess)

That's not too far different from my results for women, and I'm "very selective" for both groups.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:09 (twenty-two years ago)

This was another of my favourites, though not the one I mention above:

http://images.match.com/attraction/physical/images/seekreport/5093-ff_01.jpg

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:10 (twenty-two years ago)

did you do the women seeking men, or men seeking men?

A Nairn (moretap), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't see her! Or if I did it was during the fast flippy flippy bit and I missed her. She seems a bit young, though.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, I did men seeking men. Hmm. How much difference do you think it makes?

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:12 (twenty-two years ago)

She came up in my 'Of the Asian women you found appealing, this woman is considered the least universally attractive to most men' section. I didn't even realise she was Asian.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:13 (twenty-two years ago)

but you can't even see her ears.

A Nairn (moretap), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:13 (twenty-two years ago)

The men weren't all so much UGLY as they were bland. I usually pay way more attention to clothes and haircuts than faces. But it seemed to surmise that I liked skinny pretty boys without toothy grins, which is, sadly, pretty much OTM.

Regarding the thread question: isn't sexy something altogether different from attractive, physically or otherwise? Like more of a manner of carrying oneself and being hot and being interested in the same things, etc. I have friends who are beautiful and wonderful people, but I don't find them sexy, because they lack that extra element.

mouse, Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Get on a bus and listen to any argument among school/college kids and it quickly becomes apparent that everyone uses sexy/beautiful/attractive/hot/cute/fuckable to differentiate different things.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Ears should be hearing and not seen.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:17 (twenty-two years ago)

while I hate to say such things, lest I misrepresent myself, RJG's evil one is wrong

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:18 (twenty-two years ago)

The inverse can be true too where someone is sexy even though they may not be all that attractive or wonderful of a person.

A Nairn (moretap), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I like all of them, to varying degrees.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:20 (twenty-two years ago)

They mostly looked very American, which isn't surprising. The men I've seen on this thread even more so. On my results it said I seemed to have a thing for European women, and should consider a vacation there!

x-post. Yes mark, we are the same.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I liked the lips and hair of the one at the top.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, Match.com is an American dating service, so presumably whatever models they used were American.

(I thought RJG's were, in different ways, some of the least American-looking women in there.)

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:22 (twenty-two years ago)

The one at the bottom is a bit blandly pretty. I don't think we'd have much in common.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:23 (twenty-two years ago)

i actually agree. but that was my top three nonetheless.

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:24 (twenty-two years ago)

the bottom one looks like a cross between someone who used to be my girlfriend and someone I used to wish was my girlfriend.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:24 (twenty-two years ago)

apparently this guy is my type -
http://images.match.com/attraction/physical/images/seekreport/1106-mf_02.jpg

also, I'm "selective".

I think this one was second place
http://images.match.com/attraction/physical/images/seekreport/3072-mf_02.jpg

hmm.

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I feel like danny ooberman.

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:25 (twenty-two years ago)

RJG: cut and shut?

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:25 (twenty-two years ago)

The (already noted) middle one of mark's has a lovely clavicle.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:25 (twenty-two years ago)

cozen? she does not look cut and shut, at all.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:26 (twenty-two years ago)

kim, your top guy looks like a norm macdonald's bigger, better brother.

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:26 (twenty-two years ago)

what's a clavicle?! she has a nice jaw-line but too-pronounced throat-tending-imprint thingy.

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I like my own clavicle too.

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I love that pronounced throat-tending-imprint thingy. I can keep drink in mine.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:28 (twenty-two years ago)

milo - your last one looks a cross between confused and worried.

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:28 (twenty-two years ago)

That spiky haired woman is far too pointy.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:28 (twenty-two years ago)

milo two of those bottom three scare the bejeezus out of me. they look like windblown woodpeckers.

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm sorry, cozen. I don't know why I was defending her; she isn't even mine.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:29 (twenty-two years ago)

you didn't click her.

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I did but not hard enough.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:30 (twenty-two years ago)

The one on the far right turned up in my list of mingers. In a thumbnail, she's not so bad, but no.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:30 (twenty-two years ago)

this is the only time in my life I'll look up my dictionary for 'clavicle' at 3.30am.

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Mark, I see it maybe, but I don't find THE Norm attractive I don't think - or I think - whatever - my type is kind more GAP than I'd have liked. If guy number one had guy number two's facial expression, I think I'd be happier about this.

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:31 (twenty-two years ago)

"You especially liked a pattern scientists refer to as "Ectomorphs." Geometrically, they are similar to triangles, because they are widest at the cheekbones and then narrow to a relatively pointed chin. Women Ectomorphs tend to have long, narrow noses and prominent cheekbones. Historically, these faces have been viewed as delicate, and combined with the typical lean build, can give a very feminine overall impression. About 46% of other men especially prefer women with this face type." = "You're attracted to Helena Bonham-Carter," I think.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:31 (twenty-two years ago)

No, she's not pointy. She's just annoying.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha Milo got the "WHO PUT THAT ICE CUBE IN MY TAMPON APPLICATOR????" girl!

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:35 (twenty-two years ago)

milo - your last one looks a cross between confused and worried.
Hence the attraction.

Did anyone else have a hard time with a lot of these women based on age? I felt like the ones I consider in a datable age range (18-23ish) were underrepresented, and those who were often were blonde or Asian.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I feel sorry for milo now. Who will back up his outré choices?

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Frozen-Douche Girl is cute, she just has a mega-goofy expression on her face.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:37 (twenty-two years ago)

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Basically A Nairn and Milo like collie dogs and I like spaniels.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I felt like the ones I consider in a datable age range (18-23ish) were underrepresented

They are, yeah -- there's no one under the age of 20, if I remember right; the test is still under construction in terms of filling in a lot of holes with the models, but I think since it's an extension of a dating service, they've focused on patching the bits which will be most seen by thirtysomethings.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I like girls.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 01:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I put down all the men as turn-offs. And then said that none of the men would be attracted to me. And then the test got very very angry at me and tried to make me go back to the beginning.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 02:10 (twenty-two years ago)

All right then, fine. This is the summary of My Type...

http://images.match.com/attraction/physical/images/seekreport/3015-ff_04.jpg

Favorite Qualities
Your photo choices suggest a woman over 40 is probably getting a little old for your tastes
You seemed interested in dating a woman at least 25 or older
Wide, round chins
Long, oval-shaped faces
So-called "Endo-Mesomorphs," with full, oval faces
Light brown hair

Favorite Looks
You seem to have a thing for "Fiery Redheads." Although pretty rare, this type caught your eye in the photo test. Their deep (even auburn) red hair frames their beautiful, fair skin. You probably even have an appreciation for freckles! As the name suggests, this type tends to convey a sense of energy and confidence that you have to be around. Maybe that's why 1 in 3 men (29%) find these redheads very appealing.
There's a reason why you can't keep your eyes off a beauty pageant. We describe a lot of the women you also found attractive as "Beauty Queens," because of their flawless beauty and winning smiles. These women usually have long, shiny hair setting off a face that is either rectangular or heart-shaped. They have very feminine features like thin noses, big eyes, and full lips, conveying a strong, confident look rather than looking delicate or fragile. Even though they look like the "Girl Next Door," they tend to look mature for their age and lack the "cutesy" appearance of more "girlish" women. Although very popular to look at, most men are sort of intimidated by this type, which is probably why only 1 in 3 (31%) say they specifically seek out these women.
Favorite Face Type
You picked photos of women with "Meso-Endomorph" faces more often than you picked most other face types. These women have perfectly oval faces that can be long and narrow or fuller in shape. Their gently curved jawline and prominent cheekbones are considered "classic" feminine features. Their large eyes, thick lips, and voluptuous figure also adds to a sense of "softness" and "warmth" these women typically convey. About 40% of other men especially prefer women with this face type.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 02:25 (twenty-two years ago)

mark p's top one is amazing. the test gave me the readhead who is looking down. denied!!

g--ff (gcannon), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 02:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I did it for women seeking men and got all confused I couldn't really decide what to pick, but these two came up as my favorites:

A Nairn (moretap), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 02:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm interested now in why some people get some women and others don't, beyond the age choice at the beginning; just chance, or is it like the computer SATs where your initial answers affect the next questions?

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 02:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Everyone should do the guy one; or people who've already done should do the women one. I'm curious if most people are told they like similar things in both genders.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 02:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Ahhh i did this test as both a straight woman and a lesbian. In both instances i had strong leanings to african american and asian features, I selected no blondes and fancied men with strong chins, long faces and tall and lanky frames.

But it was no surprise to me, I'm well aware of my attraction all of those things :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 02:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Longform excerpts. I like how everything is designed to massage your ego.

Unique Features You Like:
- Sometimes, you like women over 5 years older than you
- More unique than "mainstream" appeal
- Thin, angular faces with a classic or refined look
- Glasses and the sophisticated and smart look that goes with them

Unique Tastes In Women: You are open to seeing a variety of women as attractive. Sure, women with "movie star" good looks catch your eye, but you are often equally wowed by more normal "cute" women. You are not one to judge people based on their looks. In fact, you're genuinely drawn to women that others might dismiss. Maybe it's because you don't buy into society's checklist for "mainstream" attractiveness.

Open: You have a more open and accepting view of what makes a woman attractive than a lot of other men your age. In the test, you didn't pick the most "popular" women, but instead seemed to focus on your own personal tastes. This doesn't necessarily mean that looks are less important to you than to other men. You simply have a unique set of criteria and keep your eyes open for special qualities that make a woman, who may seem ordinary to most, extraordinary to you. See the pie chart below to see how many men fall into picky or open categories.

A woman's height is extremely important to some men. According to choices you made in the test, you prefer to date women who are about the same height you are, or maybe as much as 2 inches shorter.

Lips
You preferred women to have nice average-sized lips; not too thin and not too full. Even though thicker lips are more popular, you were not especially drawn to them. Perhaps it's because you like very natural-looking women, without a lot of makeup.

Smiles
Women with a slight smile or grin seemed more appealing to you than women with big "toothy" smiles. Most of the women in the photos had big smiles, but you seemed especially intrigued by women with the classic "Mona Lisa" smile. Perhaps you like the mystery and depth that these women chose to convey.

Hair Length
You liked women with a variety of hair cuts, but you gave special attention to women with long hair. You seem to really appreciate women with beautiful hair. It's one of the qualities that seemed to grab your attention during the test.

Hair Color
You liked women with a variety of hair colors, but you seemed especially interested in women with deep, brown hair. In the test, you picked a definite subgroup of women who had a variety of different features and "looks," but many had dark brown hair. This seems to fit with your overall interest in beautiful WOMEN, not girls. Bleached blondes and highlights are not nearly as appealing to you as a woman with her rich, natural color.

http://img42.photobucket.com/albums/v129/signon29/matchdotcom.jpg

This is the girl that I got on the first page of my report (interesting test, btw). Also,

Interestingly, a lot of the features you liked are not especially popular. They're not what usually defines "mainstream" attractiveness for women. But who cares what the mainstream thinks?! Below is a list of some of the unique features you found appealing in women.

and

Very Picky: It's official: You're "picky." The fact is you are drawn to the most beautiful of the beautiful. You know what you like in women and are more selective than most men your age.

Big surprise there.

I took it as a lesbian too. But my results creeped me out. Apparently I have "a thing" for asian women. Oh, but the women are overall better looking than the men I thought.

http://images.match.com/attraction/physical/images/seekreport/5089-mf_01.jpg
According to the selections you made in the test, this man fits Your Type.

http://images.match.com/attraction/physical/images/seekreport/5092-mf_01.jpg
According to the selections you made in the test, this man has unique features you like.

Favorite Looks:
One of the "looks" that you consistently noticed has been described as "The Boy Next Door." He has an open face, with big eyes, and a big grin. He has a youthful or boyish quality that will follow him throughout his life. Typically this look is associated with light brown hair, a close shave, and blue or hazel eyes. These guys convey a warm, trusting impression, but watch out for that mischievous side! Our studies find that about 1 in 5 women (18%) are especially attracted to this youthful look.

Favorite Face Type:

Also:

Your Favorite Features:
- Your photo choices suggest a man over 40 is probably getting a little old for your tastes
- You seemed interested in dating a man at least 25 or older
- Handsome men
- Sharp, narrow chins
- Wide and angular "diamond" or heart-shaped faces
- So-called "Ecto-Mesomorphs," with narrow chins and nicely angular faces
- Dark brown hair
- Wavy hair
- Straight hair
- Medium-length hair

Unique Features You Like:
- Sometimes, you like younger men, by a good gap
- Sometimes, you like men over 5 years older than you
- Lean men with pointed chins, rather than the square-shaped chins most like
- Thin, angular faces with a classic or refined look
- Cute, button or small noses
- Glasses and the sophisticated and smart look that goes with them

And under the "I don't know -- they could very well just be b.s.ing me" category:

What Is Your Approach to Judging Which Men Are Handsome or Very Attractive?

Picky: Okay, you qualify as "picky," or maybe you just have a clearer idea than most women about what you like in men. It's almost instinctual for you. In a crowded room, you can quickly spot the most handsome guy. Even if you only catch him out of the corner of your eye, you know which men have "the right stuff." You probably struggle with balancing your natural instincts, which draw you to good looking guys, with your desire to find smart, mature, and well-rounded men. But you're also a realist. You know how important a physical "spark" is in a relationship and can't settle for less. Still, in the test, you seemed to recognize the difference between "eye candy," men who are just nice to look at, and more approachable cute guys.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 09:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I cocked up by clicking accidentally on a bloke I didn't fancy. Then it asked me who I thought most likely to fancy me, so being the cynic I am I picked the him again (the only one I picked). Now they think he is my ideal man. He looks like fucking Fred Savage.

I rated maybe half a dozen on the positive half of the scale. Nobody looked like either Ryan or Seth from the OC or Thierry Henry.

I am now going to try the test as a bloke looking for girls, in the interests of science. I bet they're way prettier than any of the men.

Jaysus. I thought many of the laydeez minged (mang?)

Dave B (daveb), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 11:18 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah! they did, but now match.com had just sent me pictures of 50 hotties!

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 11:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah - I meant to ask. Did anyone click for the 'people matching your type' real life match.com members?

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 11:25 (twenty-two years ago)

A lot of the ladies were not hot, Dave B, but a lot of the gentlement were absolute total freaks, often thanks to photobodge.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 11:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm going to photobodge you when I get home.

Sexy = someone who finds me sexy

Dave B (daveb), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 11:57 (twenty-two years ago)

holy fukc!! sebastian bach is coming to edge magazine!!

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 11:58 (twenty-two years ago)

sexy=someone who DOESN'T find you sexy surely Dave B?

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 12:00 (twenty-two years ago)

at least that makes sense to me

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 12:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I think it was a typo.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 12:01 (twenty-two years ago)

oooh, I think I fancy madchen's fred savage:

http://images.match.com/attraction/physical/images/seekreport/4035-mf_04.jpg

it says I like the boy-next-door and 'ruggedly handsome.'

Again, I must protest the lack of middle-eastern/semitic or hispanic men. It's all about the eyebrows.

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 12:21 (twenty-two years ago)

That's what John Ashcroft says.

Dave B (daveb), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 12:22 (twenty-two years ago)

okay it put up a pic of one guy it said was latino, but he was pretty fair-skinned; I guess I like mestizo boys. Also it said I picked boys with green eyes most and blue eyes least!

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 13:30 (twenty-two years ago)

http://images.match.com/attraction/physical/images/seekreport/2536-ff_05.jpg

yep, about right. The 'qualities' and 'looks' descriptions were also astonishingly accurate. The genuine surprise was being in the pickiest 2% 'very selective' category.

stevo (stevo), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 14:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I got the same as Ken as my top choice.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 15:59 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, that asian chick is really growing on me. i mean, i gave her a wow at first, but the wowness hits me harder every time i see her.

Felonious Drunk (Felcher), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 16:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I did eventually spot the full details option, and it was all rubbish. I am particularly keen on Hispanic women, but not particularly keen on Hispanic women, to add to my tastes for narrow-jawed women with broad jaws. It's no wonder only 7% share my tastes.

I note with disappointment that none of the women have so far demonstrated a taste for short, balding middle-aged men.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 16:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh it said I liked HANDSOME bald men, as well as HANDSOME black men and HANDSOME latino men. wtf?

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

isn't the whole point that handsomeness is suggestive?

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 16:50 (twenty-two years ago)

my mom says i'm handsome.

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

subjective, rather.

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

i think it's handsome vs. cute vs. pretty vs. whatever other adjectives they use for guys.

Felonious Drunk (Felcher), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 16:52 (twenty-two years ago)

smelly

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 16:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I am "very picky", and this girl http://images.match.com/attraction/physical/images/seekreport/3121-ff_03.jpg is my type.

Sick Nouthall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 17:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I was in the top 1%. I am going to die alone.

Sick Nouthall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 17:09 (twenty-two years ago)

she's OK.

it looks like her bottom lip is sadder than her top lip.

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 17:10 (twenty-two years ago)

haha. one part of the test said that i like men with UNUSUAL FEATURES and then there was a picture of a CROSS-EYED DUDE. WTF?

mandee, Tuesday, 30 March 2004 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I look people with the usual features.

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't like that girl. I think she looks like a real square.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 17:14 (twenty-two years ago)

that's an odd reason to dislike someone.

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 17:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I imagine her not being a square.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 17:17 (twenty-two years ago)

She looks like Winnie out of the Wonder Years or something, and I always hated her.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 17:18 (twenty-two years ago)

nothing like her.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 17:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Well she had the same mentality.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 17:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Has, not had.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 17:24 (twenty-two years ago)

how do you sign up to be photographed for things like this?

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 17:24 (twenty-two years ago)

she looks like a kind of uppity girl who'd fuck you out of spite.

Felonious Drunk (Felcher), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 17:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, she'd do that too, later in life. I think we've caught her on the cusp of being a square and being a bitch. She's horrible. Get rid of her.

Cozen - just put yourself up on amihotornot and be done with it.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 17:28 (twenty-two years ago)

do you hate yourself?

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 17:54 (twenty-two years ago)

What do you think?

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 17:57 (twenty-two years ago)

oh, wrong thread.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 17:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I was asking for a friend.

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 18:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Their "objective handsomeness"/"objective beauty" definitions are, I'm 90% sure, based on the studies of facial symmetry etc. that they had that Discovery Channel special on. (You can see this in the models, too. "She'd be just fine if her eye weren't on her cheek.")

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 19:54 (twenty-two years ago)

personally I like women with smooth clean chins

Dickyvandyke, Friday, 2 April 2004 16:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Can anyone else still access the full report from their email? Mine now gives me a cute error message.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 11:55 (twenty-two years ago)

This is all bullshit. Everyone says confidence, be funny, bullshit, bullshit, and bullshit. People are shallow. Dont be fat, dont be ugly, and dont have bad skin and youll get laid whenever you want to.

TheTruthGiver, Wednesday, 7 April 2004 01:43 (twenty-two years ago)

After all, noone on this thread has been shallow or discussed people's physical appearance

Sym (shmuel), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 06:35 (twenty-two years ago)

i dunno how much truth the truthgiver speaks. i'm not fat or ugly and have baby-like skin and hardly ever get laid... cuz i'm socially retarded. i even asked my ex-boyfriend how to get a new boyfriend. he said 'cheer-up. be confident. i like sad, shy girls but i think i'm the only one'.

lolita corpus (lolitacorpus), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 08:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Lolita OTM - there are plenty of ways not to get laid.

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 15:23 (twenty-two years ago)

this was a good thread

I would revive it in the morning, so it would be a more worthwhile revive, but I would forget

I'm ME-centric

what are you talking about?

RJG (RJG), Friday, 23 September 2005 03:52 (twenty years ago)

Aw, there's all this discussion about a test that no longer exists.

a picture of a fat girl hugging Rick Perry, awesome (Matt Chesnut), Friday, 23 September 2005 03:55 (twenty years ago)

all the photos, from the test, are still up

RJG (RJG), Friday, 23 September 2005 03:57 (twenty years ago)

RJG, what were you doing up at such an ungodly hour? OK, I'm usually up at that hour, too, but I'm wrestling with the coffemaker, not reviving threads.

The Brocade Fire (kate), Friday, 23 September 2005 07:06 (twenty years ago)

hi, i'm sleepy.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 23 September 2005 07:08 (twenty years ago)

There was another thread about this test, wasn't there? Because I distinctly remember taking it, and the first choice bloke was a bit "MEH" but the second choice bloke was PHWOAR, ROWR ETC and looked like every guy I've ever dated. Hrmrrrm.

The Brocade Fire (kate), Friday, 23 September 2005 07:41 (twenty years ago)

RJG (RJG), Friday, 23 September 2005 10:02 (twenty years ago)

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 23 September 2005 10:04 (twenty years ago)

If it's doesn't bother you, I'll stop! ;-)

(I thought you disliked me, hence it would perplex you to the point of annoyace you if I kept saying you were attractive.)

The Brocade Fire (kate), Friday, 23 September 2005 10:05 (twenty years ago)

Criticise his use of commas.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 23 September 2005 11:06 (twenty years ago)

Why, RJG, that's a fine way with a comma you have there, etc. ?

(was that more like it?)

The Brocade Fire (kate), Friday, 23 September 2005 11:08 (twenty years ago)

That inexplicably sinister yet sexy half-closed eye look while she's "taking it" however she's "taking it."

Also, SHE being the aggressive one. This makes you feel she really wants it and you're happy to give it to her because if she wants it that bad, you're sure to suffice!

Also, she grabs your crotch through your jeans, unzips you and fellates you right then and there without all the to do of going somewhere with a bed, getting naked, blah blah blah. Smiles, wipes face, zips you up.

I Like Cum Sluts, Friday, 23 September 2005 11:18 (twenty years ago)

RJG (RJG), Friday, 23 September 2005 11:32 (twenty years ago)

The Brocade Fire (kate), Friday, 23 September 2005 11:34 (twenty years ago)

stop posting after every time I post

RJG (RJG), Friday, 23 September 2005 11:36 (twenty years ago)

I'm convinced that the reason I'm single and don't appeal to women is that I don't treat them like dog shit. and before you say anything yes I know this is a sweeping allegation that's been mentioned a gazillion times before but it seems to be ripe around my way at the moment amongst couples.

Ste (Fuzzy), Friday, 23 September 2005 11:38 (twenty years ago)

Well, Ste, the simple answer to that is, start treating women like absolute shit, and see if your lovelife improves. No, really. Do a controlled scientific experiment. And then I won't need to beat you about the head and tell you that it's assertiveness that's attractive to (most) women - though unfortunately many (of both genders) can't tell the difference between that and assholeishness.

The Brocade Fire (kate), Friday, 23 September 2005 11:50 (twenty years ago)

so is assertiveness directly proportional to the amount of assholeness someone has?

Ste (Fuzzy), Friday, 23 September 2005 11:57 (twenty years ago)

"some people have got it, some people haven't" shock horror youth cult probe.

i'd say confidence more than assertiveness, i.e. the ability to be able to interact positively with other people rather than hit them over the head with said ability.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 23 September 2005 11:59 (twenty years ago)

apologies for the tautology ("ability to be able" gaah!)

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 23 September 2005 11:59 (twenty years ago)

I know most people talk about personality, sense of humour, assertiveness and so on, but I'd have to go for crazy titties and a big old ass.

Don King of the Mountain (noodle vague), Friday, 23 September 2005 12:00 (twenty years ago)

No, not at all, Ste. But assholeishness is often perceived (rightly or wrongly) as assertiveness.

Anyway, what do I know? It's not like I've been in a relationship in a million years. At least I don't try to fool myself that it's "because men only like women who are assholes" but recognise that it's because I'm both ugly and bonkers.

xpost

The Brocade Fire (kate), Friday, 23 September 2005 12:00 (twenty years ago)

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 23 September 2005 12:01 (twenty years ago)

It sure turned me on.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Friday, 23 September 2005 12:04 (twenty years ago)

sigh, yeah same here.

Ste (Fuzzy), Friday, 23 September 2005 12:12 (twenty years ago)

Key to sexiness = convincing others you are neither ugly nor bonkers, or at least not as much as they are.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Friday, 23 September 2005 12:16 (twenty years ago)

The Brocade Fire (kate), Friday, 23 September 2005 12:20 (twenty years ago)

a genuinely happy person is pretty often a sexy person. a startling intellect or very intuitive mind capable of picking up subtle social cues is also sexy.

Be Ally.

The Brocade Fire (kate), Friday, 23 September 2005 13:32 (twenty years ago)

This was the thread I was looking for:

What's your type?

Except there it was N who was held up as the super-arrogant "I Am Sex" paragon instead of RJG. ::rolls eyes:: The more things change, the more they stay the same.

The Brocade Fire (kate), Friday, 23 September 2005 13:45 (twenty years ago)

I don't understand

RJG (RJG), Friday, 23 September 2005 13:49 (twenty years ago)

They don't make threads like that anymore.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Friday, 23 September 2005 13:52 (twenty years ago)

And on that thread, redheads feel *more* pain when now they're trying to tell me they're amazons who rise up from the ashes with their red hair and eat men like air. Or something. I can't keep up.

Who am I supposed to be fancying now? Someone tell me because I can't remember.

The Brocade Fire (kate), Friday, 23 September 2005 14:05 (twenty years ago)

Laurel (Laurel), Friday, 23 September 2005 15:32 (twenty years ago)

The only thing this thread needs is Matt DC writing fake ILX0r pr0n. Oh yes.

.. and then, suddenly, there they were, Gareth and Ronan, bodies tumbling over over another, one with the music, and one another, hearts pounding like kick drums, the sound of the 303 tickling the ear like the tongue over the nipple, incessant, primordial, boom boom boom, thrust thrust thrust, BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG!

And then... silence.

"So" said Ronan, his gentle lilting brogue struggling to contain the excitement. "How was it for you".

Gareth lay there, for what seemed an interminable amount of time. "It was alright...", he said finally. "But where was the Francois De Roubaix?"

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 23 September 2005 19:17 (twenty years ago)
