Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 1 April 2004 06:40 (twenty-one years ago)

i could never hate you ipso! don't worry about me, i am hypersensitive. that is because a) i been drinking too much these days b) i am in a very looooooooooong distance relationship c) all i do is read feminist theory all day, it makes me feel very boring.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 1 April 2004 06:55 (twenty-one years ago)

so yeah australasia seems like a groovy place to live, but do you have access to sweet sweet bourbon there?

oops (Oops), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:03 (twenty-one years ago)

my sister is an ocker, and bourbon is all she drinks.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:03 (twenty-one years ago)

sold!

oops (Oops), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:05 (twenty-one years ago)

oops (Oops), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:05 (twenty-one years ago)

ocker = australian.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:06 (twenty-one years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Bryan B Sure (Bryan), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh yeah, I'm Canadian so who asked me?!

Bryan B Sure (Bryan), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:08 (twenty-one years ago)

http://wood-note.hp.infoseek.co.jp/knob%20creek%204.jpg

It's not as intimidating as it looks there, though it is 100proof

Hell yeah I drink scotch! My best friend is an absolute scotch fiend. Has about 10 bottles at the moment, all of them at least $50 a bottle.

oops (Oops), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:10 (twenty-one years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:11 (twenty-one years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:12 (twenty-one years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I was gonna buy some of that Knob Creek for when Piuma was here but I bought some 18 year old rye instead. He wasn't impressed. Turns out he likes rotgut hooch not buttery smooth stuff.

Bryan B Sure (Bryan), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:14 (twenty-one years ago)

explain yourself Piuma

oops (Oops), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:16 (twenty-one years ago)

He's just way more rock 'n' roll than me I guess. I tried to drink a bunch of Wild Turkey straight once and had heartburn for a couple of days.

Bryan B Sure (Bryan), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Wild Turkey + Cranberry juice = perfect Thanksgiving cocktail, or so says a local radio jockey who used to be an alcoholic. He also invented a Xmas drink that involves a candy cane but I can't rembember exactly what else is in it.

oops (Oops), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Everclear.

Bryan B Sure (Bryan), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:22 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 1 April 2004 21:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't remember where the idea for a worldFAP originated, but I think the only (very) vague plan mentioned Montana.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 1 April 2004 21:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Jim, that txt you sent me had me in hysterics. Nick came running out wondering what the hell I was laughing so hard at.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 1 April 2004 21:48 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 2 April 2004 00:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Who says we don't?

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Friday, 2 April 2004 00:46 (twenty-one years ago)

"If I dont make it, tell my wife.... hello"

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 2 April 2004 00:46 (twenty-one years ago)

My mum on the phone, talking about her cat, Noggin the Chinless Wonder:

"Noggin has been feeling a little unwell lately".

I said, "Are you planning to put her down?"

She said "We did. Several days ago".

This put me in mind of this old joke:

A man went away on vacation and left his cat in the care of his
brother. Unfortunately, while he was away, the cat died. When the
man went to pick up the cat, his brother told him straight out that
the cat was dead.
"Why did you have to tell me so bluntly?" moaned the man as he sank
into a chair.
"What should I have done?" asked the brother.
"You could have said she was playing on the roof. Later, you could
have told me that she fell off and broke her leg. Finally, you could
have said that she didn't make it."
"I'm sorry," said the brother. "I'll try to be more compassionate
next time."
"Thank you," said the man. "How's mom?"

"She's playing on the roof."

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 2 April 2004 00:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Its Trayce.... IN SPACE!

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 2 April 2004 08:41 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 2 April 2004 08:43 (twenty-one years ago)

the trance guy...why do i think he's an aussie?

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 2 April 2004 08:44 (twenty-one years ago)

because he shares the same surname as the Australian James Bond? I haven't heard him.

Say, is that Australian band called Pendulum touring our shores right now the same Pendulum who had a few tracks out several years ago and won an ARIA?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 2 April 2004 08:46 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Saturday, 3 April 2004 04:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Haa speaking of ratty. I just walked to the Inkerman bottle shop and I walked past these 2 twentysomething guys, both holding each a pot of coke (and something, I assume, they looked a tad tipsy). As I passed them I realised they were giggling and singing the Ratties theme tune. Very odd. Made me laugh.

We'll be in Melb 14 April.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 3 April 2004 06:45 (twenty-one years ago)

ROCK

a FAP is essential of course

the surface noise (electricsound), Saturday, 3 April 2004 06:49 (twenty-one years ago)

OK then! Let's just clear up one thing right from the start. You don't have to like our music OK? We can still be pals. That is like totally cool. None of our friends like our music and they're still our friends. This may seem obvious to you, but I thought I'd clear the air.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 3 April 2004 06:51 (twenty-one years ago)

is it likely i won't though? stuff i dislike = tedious melbourne rock bands, tedious melbourne powerpop bands, tedious melbourne hype bands, blues, jazz.. everything else is a-ok with me

the surface noise (electricsound), Saturday, 3 April 2004 06:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Then you'll like it. I just wanted to clear the air. You can say 'it's fucked' and we'll say 'you have no taste you idiot' and we'll still love ya.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 3 April 2004 06:58 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Saturday, 3 April 2004 07:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Incessantly. Well it's obvious isn't it? It's a loud brash chick over electronics... therefore, Peaches!!

But jeez, every riff is ripped off either L7 or The Angels. I mean, come on, spot the rip-off, slow journalist types.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 3 April 2004 07:08 (twenty-one years ago)

ooh is there a "shove" one? if so i predict that will be my favourite

the surface noise (electricsound), Saturday, 3 April 2004 07:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Why you so paranoid abt us not liking your music then Col? I mean I like other electronica. And yes, I am aware of your *coffsimpsonsnamecoff* history ;)

Be great to meet you finally :)

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 3 April 2004 07:19 (twenty-one years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 4 April 2004 06:51 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 4 April 2004 07:00 (twenty-one years ago)

ahhhh....I had some south Australian beer last night. It was called pike's oakbank or oakridge beer or something and it was really quite nice. Cheap too!

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 4 April 2004 07:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Are you all talking about beer AGAIN?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 4 April 2004 07:54 (twenty-one years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 4 April 2004 07:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I am going to very thoroughly, properly, springclean the house. Carpet steam cleaning, old clothes Salvo-ing, the lot.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 5 April 2004 01:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Lunch is yours if you go on to the thread and tell everyone they're a bunch of f*ckwits and you don't want their thanks.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 5 April 2004 02:01 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 5 April 2004 02:28 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 5 April 2004 03:16 (twenty-one years ago)

will you throw in a bj?

and can i watch?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 5 April 2004 03:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I almost drove into two wandering pensioners on the way home. They made me VERY angry. Why would you walk in the middle of a lane down a suburban street pushing one of those fucking old people vinyl bag on wheels things? Where do old people get those things anyway? I've never seen one in a shop. Do they magically turn up on the door step when you hit 65 or something?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 5 April 2004 03:20 (twenty-one years ago)

i've seen plastic covered wire versions but yeah i've never seen the vinyl ones for sale anywhere

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 5 April 2004 03:23 (twenty-one years ago)

down the middle of the street?

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 5 April 2004 03:24 (twenty-one years ago)

you have one don't you james :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 5 April 2004 03:26 (twenty-one years ago)

yes mully right down the middle of blackwood street. Apparently rules don't apply to old people, or maybe they're just rebelling for the day.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 5 April 2004 03:27 (twenty-one years ago)

it might be useful for carrying slabs

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 5 April 2004 03:37 (twenty-one years ago)

i see a marketing opportunity

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 5 April 2004 03:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe they wandered off from the old folx home and thought they were in Picnic at Hanging Rock or something.

Was one of them screaming MIIIRAAANNDAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! ?

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 5 April 2004 03:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Howards Storage World sells trendy new versions of those trolleys. Theres 2 kinds - a collapsible baggy kind with a velcro flap on top, and these cool brushed aluminium ones that fold really flat and are MEGA light and easy to carry about, only they cost shitloads of money :(

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 5 April 2004 03:44 (twenty-one years ago)

They can try to make them cool but they'll still make you look old and crippled :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 5 April 2004 03:46 (twenty-one years ago)

esp if full with slab

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 5 April 2004 03:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I've been thinking of buying one!!! :-o

But then again, I am old. Just the other day I decided I dont enjoy going partying or anything at all anymore, that I'd rather stay home and read a book. It has begun. *sobs*

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 5 April 2004 03:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I must've been old my whole life then. My idea of fun is painting and getting pissed, usually in tandem.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 5 April 2004 03:55 (twenty-one years ago)

ahhh anyhow I got new glasses just now so here's a link to me in them (so you don't have to witness my mongy head everytime you open the thread)

http://www.ipsofactodesign.com/newglasses.jpg

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 5 April 2004 04:01 (twenty-one years ago)

fancy!

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 5 April 2004 04:02 (twenty-one years ago)

actually i think they look alarmingly like the old pair :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 5 April 2004 04:03 (twenty-one years ago)

cool. you look strangely familiar kate.

is being old being able to finally admit you hate rock bands are too loud?

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 5 April 2004 04:05 (twenty-one years ago)

and become more inartucalting?

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 5 April 2004 04:07 (twenty-one years ago)

People have told me I look like Joan Baez which is kind of offensive, other people have told me I look like that ugly chick who used to be an olympic swimmer. Samantha Reilly I think her name is. Maybe I'm just one of those people who looks like a lot of other people.

Strangely enough the loudest band I've ever seen was they might be giants.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 5 April 2004 04:08 (twenty-one years ago)

also: mi sex circa 78 stagedoor tavern sydney ouch

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 5 April 2004 04:13 (twenty-one years ago)

erggghhhh. I think i'll go slice my face off with a blunt razor

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 5 April 2004 04:16 (twenty-one years ago)

she's ugly? whats wrong with her?

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 5 April 2004 04:17 (twenty-one years ago)

she's ugly, thats whats wrong with her.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 5 April 2004 04:18 (twenty-one years ago)

she doesn't look ugly. maybe she is ugly on the inside?

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 5 April 2004 04:20 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't think anyone looks good with a swimming cap on :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 5 April 2004 04:22 (twenty-one years ago)

also not bad

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 5 April 2004 04:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Baez is less insulting i must say. I just don't think my eyebrows are quite as crooked as Riley's.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 5 April 2004 04:29 (twenty-one years ago)

kate'n'jim

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 5 April 2004 04:45 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, if james lets his hair grow wild and i lose about two thirds of what i weigh right now :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 5 April 2004 04:48 (twenty-one years ago)

my hair kinda looked like that once

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 5 April 2004 04:48 (twenty-one years ago)

The kind of creepy thing about it is my brother looks fairly similar to old bob at the moment, however it's kind of by choice. (He actually took a photo of dylan into the hairdressers and asked for his hair to be cut the same)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 5 April 2004 04:52 (twenty-one years ago)

colin your former associate (*cough*) is getting a beatdown on mono.. much amusement to be had
-- the surface noise

I've been sorely tempted to put in a post saying, "at least it's better than that crap rave band he used to be in with that other dickhead".

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 5 April 2004 05:55 (twenty-one years ago)

hahaha that would be funny

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 5 April 2004 05:55 (twenty-one years ago)

even funnier if anyone weighed in to agree

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 5 April 2004 05:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, then I'd have to say I knew both of them personally and the reason they broke up was they had a fight over a skateboard.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 5 April 2004 05:58 (twenty-one years ago)

is that true?

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 5 April 2004 05:58 (twenty-one years ago)

No. It's a story I once heard about the breakup of Steely Dan though.

Nice spex ipsy.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 5 April 2004 06:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Ok, I did it!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 5 April 2004 06:10 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 5 April 2004 06:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Weirdest thread ever. Youre talking about what youre saying on another thread on another board. Mentalists!

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 5 April 2004 06:28 (twenty-one years ago)

It's lanthanine. Byzantine.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 5 April 2004 06:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi trayce!!!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 5 April 2004 06:31 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 5 April 2004 07:44 (twenty-one years ago)

the thread title is just the bandname in question

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 5 April 2004 07:45 (twenty-one years ago)

ah. you have yet to voice your thoughts jim?

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 5 April 2004 08:04 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 5 April 2004 10:06 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm here. fantasising about sleeping in my new bed which arrives tomorrow morning.

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 5 April 2004 10:11 (twenty-one years ago)

If anyone wants to know the definition of a thread derailment I'm going to steer them in the direction of that Mono thread.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 5 April 2004 10:21 (twenty-one years ago)

hehehe

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 5 April 2004 10:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Morning all!

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 5 April 2004 19:57 (twenty-one years ago)

morning ipsy. I had a dream about gaz last night.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 5 April 2004 21:03 (twenty-one years ago)

is it share-able or is it highly personal in nature?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 5 April 2004 21:04 (twenty-one years ago)

did we "do" lunch?

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 5 April 2004 21:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Share-able, don't panic. I was going to keep you all in suspense, but I'll tell you. It was pretty good really. We were part of a miliraty camp being bullied by an overbearing sargeant-major who was yelling at us for not making our beds so we could lie in them. Gaz spat the dummy and launched a long, articulate and very incisive critique of the sargeant-major's personality, the foolishness of the job, and a bove all the hopelessness of the bedsheets to accomplish the task (they were ill-fitting). I was in another room when I heard it, but I just had to come in and applaud. No-one else applauded though, there was just stunned silence. Maybe one or two people reluctantly joined in my applause.

Later, in a further demonstration of military incompetence, gaz showed me a 4-track/drum machine combo that was very poorly designed and had errors in the instruction manual (apparently the army uses drum machines and 4-tracks, I didn't know that). For example, track 1 was labelled 'track 2' in the manual (which, gaz told me, threw him for hours while he was trying to write his assignment); and you could flip a button for swing (gaz told me he always preferred the drum pattern with swing), but this would cause the tape to stop once it hit the location with the same number of the swing factor.

I don't think there was any sense that gaz was going to get court-martialled; rather, one sensed he was a rising star, he was going to clean up military incompetence and possibly write a book or something. I was certainly impressed.

Then the whole thing became a gig in a gymnasium and the first plane of the morning woke me up as I was soundchecking.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 5 April 2004 21:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Goodness, that's a crazy one.

I had a dream last night but I can't recall the details. I think it was a little risque. Damn.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 5 April 2004 21:20 (twenty-one years ago)

this is actually a repressed memory of our time in stoneage col.

did your dream involve jims new bed ipso?

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 5 April 2004 21:21 (twenty-one years ago)

ha! No actually....well not that I remember.

James may like the new bed so much that he'll offer me the couch and nothing more.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 5 April 2004 21:23 (twenty-one years ago)

weirdly enough donut bitch was in my dream last night. i was in some corridor and i suddenly thought "o, i think db lives in that flat...i wonder if i should knock". but then someone stumbled out who wasn't db and i decided against it.

exciting stuff.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 5 April 2004 21:26 (twenty-one years ago)

bizarre!

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 5 April 2004 21:27 (twenty-one years ago)

'this is actually a repressed memory of our time in stoneage col.'

haha, brilliant analysis Herr Doktor.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 5 April 2004 21:32 (twenty-one years ago)

i bumped the mono thread

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 5 April 2004 21:49 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 5 April 2004 21:51 (twenty-one years ago)

weirdly enough donut bitch was in my dream last night. i was in some corridor and i suddenly thought "o, i think db lives in that flat...i wonder if i should knock". but then someone stumbled out who wasn't db and i decided against it.

Pity, as I'd want to know who was actually in that flat. (Must ask: what were you sipping before you fell asleep?)

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 5 April 2004 21:53 (twenty-one years ago)

i'd had some icecream.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 5 April 2004 21:59 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 5 April 2004 23:17 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 5 April 2004 23:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Does no one there know its you? Heh. I finally found the thread.

Colour me stupid but did you used to work with P*ul M*c?

(I R dumm)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 5 April 2004 23:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi Trayce! Yes I did.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 5 April 2004 23:30 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, now things make somewhat more sensicals.

I am so tired. But today's me last day of work til next week! Which would be WOO if it wasnt for tomorrow's chop chop.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 5 April 2004 23:32 (twenty-one years ago)

You're chopping wood tomorrow?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 5 April 2004 23:34 (twenty-one years ago)

No, a nice Jewish specialist doctor man (one of those ones you call "mister") is doing the chop chop on my back. At least I hope so. I want to get the damn thing out of the way. My only concern is how much this is going to cost me - I've no private insurance.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 5 April 2004 23:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Best of luck.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 5 April 2004 23:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Ouch, Trayce. Why the chop on your back? Was this an ongoing problem?

And wouldn't you ask the cost before the op, though?

Mucho luck, though.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 5 April 2004 23:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I asked my GP how much it will cost and she gave a vague indication it'd be no more than $100, wether thats before or after any medicare claims I'd get to make Im not sure, heh.

This is just local anesthetic minor skin surgery anyway. Theyre (hopefully) removing a very large ugly sebacious cyst - I could just leave it there but it keeps getting reinfected and leaking goo all over my clothes and its a bit sore. So I decided to get rid of it. I'm sure it'll be no more painful than say, a tatt or something but my pain threshold is zero so I'm a bit nervous.

Anyone had skin surgery or suchlike that involved stiches before (eg skin lesion removals) and know how ouchy it might be? :/

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 5 April 2004 23:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, it's not ouchy, just a little sore while healing later., Not usually expensive either.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 5 April 2004 23:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Eewuughh! Remind me never to google this topic again. I found a site that shows you, with PICTURES, how to perfoem this very procedure... WTF

http://www.theberries.ns.ca/Archives/Sebaceous_Cyst.html

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 5 April 2004 23:46 (twenty-one years ago)

On another matter, are any of you Aussies owed unclaimed money? Find out here:

http://www.osr.nsw.gov.au/erevenue/ucm/ucm_search.php

I once discovered they had about $300 waiting for me. I was able to claim it.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 5 April 2004 23:47 (twenty-one years ago)

So I decided to get rid of it. I'm sure it'll be no more painful than say, a tatt or something but my pain threshold is zero so I'm a bit nervous.

Don't blame you, but I'm sure they'll prolly use local anesthetic first. (If they didn't, you could sue and they know it.)

Fingers crossed, and report back.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 5 April 2004 23:49 (twenty-one years ago)

They will definitely use local, relax, it's not going to be a scary one.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 5 April 2004 23:50 (twenty-one years ago)

good luck Trayce!

col why would you care if yer name got mentioned...? we're not saying circ = ar are we now?

first sleep on bed tonite! just been delivered. need new sheets.

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 00:06 (twenty-one years ago)

how long do beds last?

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 00:08 (twenty-one years ago)

yo

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 00:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Eisbar!!

Beds last until the woman you are sleeping with complains that it's hurting her back - about 3 years.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 00:12 (twenty-one years ago)

uhhh.....

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 00:13 (twenty-one years ago)

tis true ... esp since i like hard beds (it's better for the back, see).

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 00:13 (twenty-one years ago)

yo eisbar

my bed is 6 years old, but then my woman is rarely on her back

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 00:13 (twenty-one years ago)

10-15 years as a general rule if they're decent and taken care of

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 00:18 (twenty-one years ago)

i had my last one for 6 years but it was the cheapest of cheap-ass mattresses you can think of

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 00:19 (twenty-one years ago)

look

don't let me tell you i told you so

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 00:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, as long as they're not going to any of the commercial stations I'm happy.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 00:34 (twenty-one years ago)

They were always going to move to something bigger.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 00:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Not that that's any consolation really.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 00:36 (twenty-one years ago)

well, apart from the fact it effects friends directly it is also symptomatic of the rot.

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 00:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah at least theyre only moving to the ABC... whats going on at SBS that leads to comments about "not happy with the direction"? They got their eye on a commercial market?

I hardly ever watch SBS I'm terrible :/

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 00:55 (twenty-one years ago)

actually have you seen the product? the movies book & the movie songs box? ironically they arejumping to a more commercial area, whilst complaining of the "dumbing down" of sbs...

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 00:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm quite a big fan of SBS. But for me the movie show didn't make or break it. Maybe it was the glace cherry on the top but certainly nowhere near the only reason why I tuned in.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 01:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Likewise.

Can't say I'd noticed any dumbing down. It's always seemed like a mixed bag of hi and lo brow.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 01:04 (twenty-one years ago)

zactly.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 01:06 (twenty-one years ago)

*starts singing theme to Inspector Rex*

Just what are the words to that song anyway?

I see heroes without fear
Killing thunder empty streets
Hiding out in dirty cages

When a dog takes over control *nbb I love this line*
He'll be fightin' to the end
That's what I call a good friend'

Help me out here!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 01:23 (twenty-one years ago)

well, you know, HUGE posters everywhere saying 78 percent (or whatever) of all households tune in to sbs. yeah. tune in once a week. for movie show. or soccer. or south park.

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 01:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I tune in most every night. Esp love their music specials.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 01:26 (twenty-one years ago)

i taped 'the idiots' last night, does that count?

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 01:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Just help me with those Inspector Rex lyrics someone. It's killing me.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 01:29 (twenty-one years ago)

best of luck with the op, trayce. hi nichole! sorry i ain't been on AIM much lately, i'm being a Diligent Student (trying to, anyway, curse you ilx!)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 01:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks Di!

"The Idiots" was a particularly painful and dull movie I thought. I'm not much a fan of this Dogme stuff.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 01:54 (twenty-one years ago)

me neither

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 01:55 (twenty-one years ago)

ned-errino!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 02:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahah... we went to see the Idiots because my flatmate at the time was like "but nudity! Scandanavian lesbian nudity!".

But its a film about a bunch of obnoxious art types who pretend to be retarded as some kind of social commentary. Wathing retarded people having sex, even if theyre just pretending in the film, is extremely discomfiting. A load of people walked out of the sesh I saw at the Como, and not because they were disgusted I'd wager.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 02:19 (twenty-one years ago)

But hey, Swedish lesbian nudity.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 02:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, I squirmed but it was a deep and interesting squirming that kept me watching.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 02:20 (twenty-one years ago)

speaking of squirming - this morning i had my annual "appraisal" at work (interview with boss, going over what i've been doing, pay increent resting on results) and i come back from lunch to find my boss has left a caramelo bear on my desk.

good sign...or not so good?

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 02:23 (twenty-one years ago)

that was your performance bonus

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 02:24 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 02:25 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 05:26 (twenty-one years ago)

A friend of mine is putting together a satanic 80's commercial pop band called Sheer (I named it)! It's sort of 80's pop meets 70's US West Coast AOR. Ph*l Coll*ns's engineer produced their album and they're doing the major label courting thing now. R and I have been promised a ride on their Lear jet. We can't wait. Here's their website:

http://www.sheermusic.net

I'll mention it again when they've got their music up. I warned him you lot are harsh, harsh critics. He just wants to know primarily if it'll get him lots of teenage groupies.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 05:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I thot there was already a band called Sheer. Or is my mind playing trix?

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 05:44 (twenty-one years ago)

you might be thinking of Scheer?

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 05:44 (twenty-one years ago)

or "the proto-Evanescence" as i like to call them

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 05:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah I think I am actually.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 05:48 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 05:48 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 07:29 (twenty-one years ago)

start with getting some chuck taylors. and cords. and talk incessantly about hip hyped local rock bands.

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 07:32 (twenty-one years ago)

What do I drink? And how do I cut my hair.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 09:47 (twenty-one years ago)

drink: anything. hair: floppy fringe.

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 09:48 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 09:53 (twenty-one years ago)

That image in my last post courtesy of Ipso.

Speaking of which, what's an Indie Coolsie Chat? And can anyone post a picture of a coolsie in full regalia?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 10:14 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 10:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't get it.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 10:16 (twenty-one years ago)

While I'm waiting for more info, here's some more Chuck Taylors in different colours. They are Converses! I have a pair! In red! Rachael painted them! I'm a coolsie!! Or at least, my feet are.

http://www.chucksconnection.com/AS031.gif

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 10:18 (twenty-one years ago)

why are they called chuck taylors you indie coolsie chatters? i don't get it either.

and colin i am pretty much doubting painted chuck taylors are gonna work for you here. could be wrong. maybe all the coolsie indie chats are painting them.

but i doubt it.

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 10:21 (twenty-one years ago)

b-b-but it was good enough for King in the 80's!! Ahem.

OK, OK, while you were posting mully I did some research (hey! How about that!). A coolsie chat is an indie troller who says every hip band sux. Apparently Mono is full of coolsie chats.

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 10:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Theyre called Chuck Taylors cos theyre a particular kind of Converse - the Converse AllStar Chuck Taylor. As opposed to the OneStars (which are the no-ankle ones) and such. I have chucks. They even have a Sonic Youth cloth badge sewn on. And I wear cords.

I'll just shoot myself now, shall I.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 10:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Riff 1
Riff 1
Here's a door and here's a window
Here's the ceiling here's the floor
The room is lit like a black and white movie
The T.V.'s on that's what its for
And if you walk real slowly, you can feel the planet breathe
There's no need to feel so lonely no that we've all learned to give

Accidentally Kelly Street
Where friends and strangers sometimes meet
Accidentally Kelly Street
I never thought life could be so sweet

Riff 1
Riff 1

In the garden birds are singing
The sun is shining on the path
The wind is talking to the flowers
The dogs and cats all take a bath
And if you stop that talking, you can hear the traffic sigh
Throw away those keys start walking and watch those tiny things go by

Accidentally Kelly Street
Where friends and strangers sometimes meet
Accidentally Kelly Street
I never thought life could be so sweet

Riff 1

It's Sunday every day and there's no need to rush around
Riff 2 (on "to")
Inside of everybody there's sun and laughter to be found
Riff 4 (on "sin")
It seems that we're on holidays and sleeping in is not a sin
All the housework's done by teatime
Riff 3
Feeling good about the way I've been
Perhaps this optimism will crash on down, like a house of cards
Riff 2 (on "not")
I know that my decision to change my life was not that hard

Accidentally Kelly Street
Where friends and strangers sometimes meet
Accidentally Kelly Street
I never thought life could be so sweet

Riff 1 (while singing)
Accidentally Kelly Street
Where friends and strangers sometimes meet
Accidentally Kelly Street
I never thought life could be so sweet

Riff 1
Accidentally, accidentally
Accidentally Kelly Street
I never thought life could be so sweet

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 04:07 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't remember hearing all those riffs

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 04:14 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 04:18 (twenty-one years ago)

you mean that's not the lyrics to "sw**tn*ss and l*ght"?

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 04:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Lyrics to S&W:

riff 1
Ah - ah!
Ah- ah, Ah-ah!
riff 2

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 04:22 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah but thats just a pretentious turn of the 90's cut up techno twaddle version of that other lyric

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 04:23 (twenty-one years ago)

surely there's the possibility of a mashup in this?

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 04:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Frent-e?

mully, I can't believe you've never heard of Frente!'s biggest hit.

A friend of mine saw the clip for this single and she said, 'what's up with the way the singer walks? She looks like she's straddling a line of c*cks'.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 04:26 (twenty-one years ago)

mmmmm

(i have heard bizlovetri)

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 04:28 (twenty-one years ago)

how does that crabstick song go... "frente girl i'd like to pull on your nose ring and flush your mind like a horny pony"

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 04:31 (twenty-one years ago)

OMFG that is the lyric of the century.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 04:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahahah this thread has turned into a Claytons LOL thread.

("the thread you have, when yer not having a thread")

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 04:51 (twenty-one years ago)

What ever happened to Claytons. HAs anyone ever actually drank that shit?

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 04:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Not me. Can you still get it?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 04:53 (twenty-one years ago)

They sell it up here at Woolies/Safeway.

I've never tried it however I have bought that ultralight beer they have at supermarkets though, but it was beer batter 'cause all the bottle shops were shut.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 04:54 (twenty-one years ago)

for the benefits of younger or non-tasman viewers:

In the late 1970’s a drink named "Claytons" was invented, manufactured in and marketed from Australia. What kind of drink was it? Unbelievably it was a non-alcoholic whiskey and was reputed to have been developed by a gin drinker. The taste – you guess.

The advertising copy went something like... "the drink you have when you're not having a drink". Hard to believe, even harder to drink it disappeared off supermarket shelves on both sides of the Tasman very fast, never to return. The name has remained in Australasian English usage to define anything with appearance but not substance.

i remember buying some in the ealry 90s though, and i'm sure i've seen it for sale even more recently than that

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 04:55 (twenty-one years ago)

crosspost obv

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 04:55 (twenty-one years ago)

That's interesting. I was under the impression it was a sorta success, for a little while anyway. Classically Australian isn't it, though, for a completely failed product to influence the lanuage and culture massively.

OK. Now... who remembers a drink campaign for Liquid Lamington?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 04:59 (twenty-one years ago)

nnnnnnnno

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 05:01 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm gonna buy some now just for the hell of it

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 05:01 (twenty-one years ago)

liquid lamington? sounds like a euphemism.

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 05:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Some drunks you all are. You probably invented clear beer as well.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 05:02 (twenty-one years ago)

it's called "carlton cold"

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 05:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Liquid Lamington?? Oh my, no.

I love how Claytons is totally a phrase now when the drink suposedly failed, but to me its a part of my childhood, I remember ads for it all the time! I even seem to recall people drinking it at family bbqs.

Now that doesnt make sense cuz all my family were boozers. Oh well.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 05:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm a fan of stones green ginger wine which is virtually non-alcoholic for all the effect it has on me.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 05:46 (twenty-one years ago)

A woman who can make a good roast is a woman you want to keep. This is why I am so popular with ver lads. I make a damn fine roast lamb and veg, i do.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 05:46 (twenty-one years ago)

groovy gravy.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 05:47 (twenty-one years ago)

i nearly typed something very controversial on that dissoc thread

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 05:47 (twenty-one years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 05:49 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 05:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Nah, I'm down from 23rd of April til 2nd May I believe.

I know you only a little less than I know James really so you're welcome to any food I prepare. It's not a skill thats fun to keep to yourself.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 05:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh hang on I got the date wrong, that was 14 May which is still out of course. Anyway, someday.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 05:59 (twenty-one years ago)

True, i'll move down before the end of the year anyhow.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 06:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 06:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Yay Trayce! However, you must ALL come to Sydney. Mully and I promise an unforgettable night at Marrickville RSL.

Tryace I'm very excited because one of the guys from Pisscutter is on the 'what are you listening to today' thread, and i'm interviewing him from the standpoint of a young, intense Czech student.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 06:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Nah, you would trayce, when I make a pork roast, my crackling never crackles :)

x-post

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 06:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Eh I dont even attempt pork, i dont like it. I do a mean lamb roast with garlic tho, and I make my own gravy! Dads recepie.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 06:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I do a lamb roast with middle eastern spices, it's all buttery and cinnamony. Have to give you the recipe sometime :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 06:15 (twenty-one years ago)

yummy

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 06:18 (twenty-one years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 06:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Ooh middle eastern lamb! That does sound good, yeah lemme know how you do it :)

Hell yeah Im a homely chix0r. I LOVE cooking. I love baking bread and stuff. It makes me feel all relaxed, does cooking, I get all Jamie Oliver in the kitchen and show nick how to make shit. "so you ge this carrot, yeah, and you peel it yeah. And you stick in here like THIS yeah"...

Oh wait, thats not cooking... umm err, heh.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 06:47 (twenty-one years ago)

all this food and melbourne talk is making me pine.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 07:41 (twenty-one years ago)

i heart green ginger wine. i always come to these discussions too late.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 07:45 (twenty-one years ago)

it has a very nice drunk.

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 07:46 (twenty-one years ago)

we can talk of the green ginger if you like Ms Lurex. In my experience it makes people do very strange things

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 07:47 (twenty-one years ago)

It's partially a sugar high.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 07:49 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 07:50 (twenty-one years ago)

underage gothic kids

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 08:00 (twenty-one years ago)

thank you mully. I can't claim credit for it. Blasphemer from Mayhem said it in an interview and for some reason it stuck with me. I love how Europeans speak English as a second language. They come up with all kinds of unusual but appropriate expressions, many of which are characterised by a certain cool precision.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 08:01 (twenty-one years ago)

you know mayhem but not burzum. you are weird.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 08:03 (twenty-one years ago)

haha mully, that's hilarious. For Mayhem are in my opinion the shit and that Varg fool tries hard to equalize their truer talent.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 08:14 (twenty-one years ago)

well, I must admit he successfully equalised Euronymous. However the roots of this music are deeper than he knows.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 08:16 (twenty-one years ago)

you are such a chancer col haha (whereas *i* have read a book!)

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 08:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm bored. Should I buy some beer or not?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 09:35 (twenty-one years ago)

heh, i made up my mind all by myself.

bud it is.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 10:02 (twenty-one years ago)

i would have said yes so hey

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 10:24 (twenty-one years ago)

if you'd said no, I would've ignored you anyway :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 10:26 (twenty-one years ago)

o man tomorrow night i am gonna get soooooo pissed. and then you can all laugh at me.

ONE MORE DAY OF MAKE BELIEVING< ONE MORE DAY OF PLAYING THE FUCKING LACKY

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 10:33 (twenty-one years ago)

what is it you actually do for a job mully. I had no idea you were a lacky for anyone.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 10:35 (twenty-one years ago)

i am the ass man. of a media library. my holidays start tomorrow!

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 10:37 (twenty-one years ago)

yay for holidays! My holidays never end for I am a slack student!

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 10:40 (twenty-one years ago)

yes! are you to be a perpetual student? that used to be a doable thing...but nowadays the cost must be insane!

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 10:42 (twenty-one years ago)

nah, i finish in two and a half years....hopefully. I hate uni. I want to be out and working asap.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 10:44 (twenty-one years ago)

hmmm. i have no desire to work. no ambition my teachers and parents used to worry. it shows - but i've done ok.

you are to be a teacher as i remember...is that high school?

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 10:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I remember once upon a time I took a day off primary school 'cause i was sick, and apparently while I was away the teacher held my work up in front of the class and told everyone i'd be lucky to finish high school. I showed her!

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 10:52 (twenty-one years ago)

What a horrible, nasty thing for a teacher to do.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 10:54 (twenty-one years ago)

hey mully I've been a chancer all my life.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 10:55 (twenty-one years ago)

dead set

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 10:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Ahhh, well I had another teacher the year after who said to my mother that one day she'd be reading about me in the papers. I took it as a compliment at the time, but now i'm not sure if it meant I'd grow up to be a wanted criminal or serial killer or something.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 10:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe you'll be a great chef.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 10:59 (twenty-one years ago)

"you are to be a teacher as i remember...is that high school?"

Sorry, missed this. Yeah high school art teacher. Fingers crossed I just find work in the arts, the teaching thing is kind of a fallback.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 11:00 (twenty-one years ago)

my high school art teachers were great inspirations for me! its a wonderful vocation- though really fucking soul destroying i believe

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 11:05 (twenty-one years ago)

hmmm....and my soul is one of my few prized possessions :(

I actually wanted to teach art because it's one of the few teaching positions the kids don't all hate. (Less change of getting knifed or abused to the point of tears) I was actually recounting stories this evening to my husband about how I once locked my english teacher in the drama storeroom till she cried. Looking back, I feel twinges of guilt, but not much.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 11:08 (twenty-one years ago)

there you go with the husband bit again!

atf is going on here?

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 11:12 (twenty-one years ago)

What did she do to you to make you do this ips?

(mully - re the other thread - I feel we have to give these characters names. I shall be Janne Karlsson, otherwise known as the bass player for death metal group Dominaktor, who recently toured Moscow. I run a small fanzine in the Czech Republic. I want to be Swedish by birth, but basically all over Northern Europe)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 11:13 (twenty-one years ago)

any yeah ips, come clean about the husband bit.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 11:14 (twenty-one years ago)

'if I am to think about it...' - very nice.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 11:16 (twenty-one years ago)

i shall be Karl Jonson - finnish ex pat and general hanger on. i am the man who can score atrocious quality smack at exhorbitant prices for rich wannabies.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 11:17 (twenty-one years ago)

hi hi! hi hi!

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 11:19 (twenty-one years ago)

you guys want the truth?.........

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 11:20 (twenty-one years ago)

um....do we?

(shall we take these characters for a stroll around ilx col?

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 11:21 (twenty-one years ago)

YES Ips, we want the truth!!

Mully. Would it be ethnically stereotypical to start a new thread where we talk about death metal, Nietschze, Wagner, paganism and so on in broken English? Yes. Ah well.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 11:21 (twenty-one years ago)

hi hi, x-post. Let's start on ILM by discussing Pisscutter's new album and take it from there. I would like there to be a highly intellectual side to our discussion that goes beyond death metal to something more mathematical-cerebral, taking in Wire-friendly music such as Pisscutter etc.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 11:23 (twenty-one years ago)

well....

I got married in 2002. My husband was suffering from "major depression" as the doctor put it. I thought I could save him....silly me. So yeah, two years in and I decide that if I get out now, I can still make something of my life. So I end it. Shortly afterwards getting rather pally with the man we know as electric sound of jim. Sadly due to financial limitations and an abusive father I still live with rather miserable husband, Darren, who shall be henceforth known as sadsack.

Anymore questions? ....shoot while I'm still pissed.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 11:25 (twenty-one years ago)

O!

tell us the jim story in more detail...it seems happier.

(only the abusive father bit is strange...he's cajoling you intoi staying with sadsack?)

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 11:27 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, sorry to hear of your suffering, you are not alone my friend. Damn, I can't shake my European accent. Well at least you found jim, that's happy.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 11:28 (twenty-one years ago)

no but i've got no money to move out on my own and obviously going back and living with parents isn't an option.

Sometimes things with jim are happy. We'll see eh? :)

Jim story in more detail? Hmmm...theres not much to tell. Ask me specific questions and i'll try to answer them.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 11:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Did you meet on ILE?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 11:33 (twenty-one years ago)

ummm...no

guess where :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 11:36 (twenty-one years ago)

blaghhh....I woke up and now I can't get back to sleep :(

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 17:40 (twenty-one years ago)

At, I don't know, one of jim's gigs? You went backstage after a gig? Ahahahaha ya groupie.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 19:39 (twenty-one years ago)

mully, what's the name of the thread? Karl and Janne discuss Pisscutter, Nietszche, Norweigan black metal and Marit's dubious sexuality?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 20:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Karl and Janne's Black Metal Update?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 20:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Karl and Janne Present?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 20:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm sober now, no more jim talk.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 21:09 (twenty-one years ago)

how about hi! my name is janne and i like the black stuff

xpost: have you huys been here ALL night? i think i shall now call you ipsy after col if thats alright.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 21:11 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 21:19 (twenty-one years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 21:19 (twenty-one years ago)

ipsy you've scarcely broached the subject. you met on mono maybe...i coulda guessed THAT much.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 21:30 (twenty-one years ago)

ahhhhh...

thin ice now and I KNOW he's online so he's probably watching this with smoke coming out his ears.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 21:31 (twenty-one years ago)

sorry jim. can't blame me for being curious. i'll stop now.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 21:34 (twenty-one years ago)

:( :( :(

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 22:06 (twenty-one years ago)

what's wrong now?

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 22:09 (twenty-one years ago)

hi jim! do you want to pretend to be a member of the metal underground with col & me?

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 22:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Nothing wrong really, just a brane meltdown.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 22:16 (twenty-one years ago)

i'll be the shady manager behind the scenes gaz

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 22:17 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 22:18 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 22:19 (twenty-one years ago)

randy hi hi! jan said he saw you at the Mensch party! did you ever manage to extract that money those bastards owed for the last 5 utrecht shows?

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 22:23 (twenty-one years ago)

it took a little 'persuasion'.. if you know what i mean

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 22:27 (twenty-one years ago)

ok, enough practice. weres col with his pisscutter thread?

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 22:29 (twenty-one years ago)

coming up! But first - what do we call it?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 22:44 (twenty-one years ago)

cut the piss?

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 22:46 (twenty-one years ago)

slash?

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 22:46 (twenty-one years ago)

No. It has to be apparently serious. Like the Smash thread but from Norway.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 22:47 (twenty-one years ago)

In these times we need serious music

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 22:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Now that's great. OK then.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 22:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Do we log out and log in again under our new names? Or is that not really necessary?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 22:56 (twenty-one years ago)

II promise not to ruin it by participating this time

(Jon L), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 22:59 (twenty-one years ago)

diff names maybe. you know i am now a celebrity here.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 23:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Nonsense Milton, we will be offended if you don't ruin it for us. OK, here we go then.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 23:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh ILM, yeah?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 23:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Or ILE? Answer me! Please!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 23:06 (twenty-one years ago)

make a decision col

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 23:11 (twenty-one years ago)

ILM. At some point, not right away, we should start talking about Pisscutter and comparing their records.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 23:14 (twenty-one years ago)

yes yes Pisscutter is really exactly what i am thinking of with serious music for serious times.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 23:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha it's done. Now remember all of you: Pisscutter is our smart bomb. Save it for the perfect occasion. Once we mention them, the game is up.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 23:20 (twenty-one years ago)

this is so fucked colin.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 23:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha, you've got to get up early in the morning to get past Strongo's bullshit detector.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 23:25 (twenty-one years ago)

rumbled!

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 23:27 (twenty-one years ago)

never mind, let's keep going.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 23:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh I see. I'm a complete idiot and left my email up. I just spoilt everything. Damn damn damn.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 23:28 (twenty-one years ago)

haha and i never even fucking made it to the thread.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 23:30 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, started again in ILE on premise that no-one here reads ILM anyway.

Janne Karlsson, Wednesday, 7 April 2004 23:34 (twenty-one years ago)

well done

ILM too busy screaming 'no fun allowed' as per usual

(Jon L), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 23:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh please kill me. I really blew it. Never mind, I'm a master recoverer.

Where the hell are you guys??? I seriously need some back up here.

Janne Karlsson, Wednesday, 7 April 2004 23:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I guess maybe part of the beauty of the listening thread diversion was that you and db were actually running with it under your real names

(Jon L), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 23:50 (twenty-one years ago)

it's like a car crash in slow motion

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 23:50 (twenty-one years ago)

it is laughable to see you like this Janne. i cannot condone your actions in serious talk with 50 cent fans

karl, Wednesday, 7 April 2004 23:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I am depressed. Milton is right.

Janne Karlsson, Wednesday, 7 April 2004 23:56 (twenty-one years ago)

jeepers!

its cheer up colin time mongrels and sheepfuckers!

ocomeon, Thursday, 8 April 2004 00:00 (twenty-one years ago)

They're right. I am a failure as a comedian. Now I go home to Czech Republic.

Janne Karlsson, Thursday, 8 April 2004 00:02 (twenty-one years ago)

not giving up on the ILE thread.

(Jon L), Thursday, 8 April 2004 00:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Janne i know of you through sarah coulson i think?

Sami Jylhankangas, Thursday, 8 April 2004 00:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Sarah Coulsen? My friend, I hope you do not believe I am a real person.

Janne Karlsson, Thursday, 8 April 2004 00:11 (twenty-one years ago)

you've been punk'd

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 8 April 2004 00:13 (twenty-one years ago)

i have been using google to announce my latest touring. finding places to stay is difficult in that i am insufficiently funded.

Sami Jylhankangas, Thursday, 8 April 2004 00:14 (twenty-one years ago)

what the fuck is going on?

Janne Karlsson, Thursday, 8 April 2004 02:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Janne Karlsson, Thursday, 8 April 2004 02:53 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 8 April 2004 06:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, I was very excited to find it in such good nick. Got it from the same place I got my tugboat 7 inch. (They stock all the good stuff :))

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 8 April 2004 06:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Having a usable record player again is amazing fun. I get to drag out all my old dodgy stuff. Shakin' my ass to pump up the volume presently :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 8 April 2004 06:33 (twenty-one years ago)

yay! the best of fun!

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 8 April 2004 06:40 (twenty-one years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 8 April 2004 06:44 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 8 April 2004 06:51 (twenty-one years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 8 April 2004 06:58 (twenty-one years ago)

no need to shut up!

slap bass! colin to thread!

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 8 April 2004 07:06 (twenty-one years ago)

hehehe

listening to psychotic reaction by count five at the moment. I'm told it's on nuggets or something. It's fun to dance to, I remember putting this one on as a kid.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 8 April 2004 07:09 (twenty-one years ago)

heres a tale. when i was a kid i hated disco. i was serious young insect. then 1st yr art skool me and a couple of mates started a *ahem* dance club at a local bowlo. they wanted it to be motown to cab vol but one of my best friends was this fantastic but heavily introverted gay woman named sara. her fave record was "the golden ring sings tom jones". he influenced me heavily. so i would make pilgrimmages to sydney armed with $20 and go to ashwoods and buy as many 20c singles as i could. i have a ridiculous collection of badly scuffed shit.

how about "the lords prayer" sister janet meads awesome barry white inspired disco version.

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 8 April 2004 07:16 (twenty-one years ago)

wow, I've never heard of that.

Wow, i'm so impressed with my collection of cheapy mainstream disco cuts I think i'm going to offer my rusty old DJing services to a party I'm going to in a few weeks.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 8 April 2004 07:18 (twenty-one years ago)

yay again! do it!

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 8 April 2004 07:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Heh, I forgot how much I love old records. Getting all emotional over god only knows by the beach boys. I have the best record collection ever :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 8 April 2004 07:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Damn! I forgot how awesome the bassline on she's not there by the zombies was. Although, in hindsight i'm hearing echos of craig nicholls in the vocals which is a worry.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 8 April 2004 07:45 (twenty-one years ago)

just bought beer. there was a guy yelling in the supermarket leatherjackets 4 for $2. are leatherjackets good eating?

then he said i love a woman in a shortskirt and a leatherjacket.

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 8 April 2004 08:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I love a leatherjacket in a woman.

Dunno whether they're good eating.....the fish, not the women.

Trying to decide what LP to put on next (I played through all my singles beside echo beach which I bought for someone else as I joke and can't stand personally.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 8 April 2004 08:09 (twenty-one years ago)

*burp*

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 8 April 2004 08:18 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 8 April 2004 09:31 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 8 April 2004 09:39 (twenty-one years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 8 April 2004 09:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Happy Egg Day! Perfect time for any confessions you've been withholding.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 8 April 2004 23:29 (twenty-one years ago)

i am at school on good friday. not even the 24 hour supermarket is open, and here i am, in the music postgrad room.

has everyone's easter been eggalicious? i had a white chocolate creme egg last night, but alas, the outback has swallowed my parents so i get no eggs this year.

hmmm, confession? but nichole, i am an angel!!!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 8 April 2004 23:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Hola, all! I totally forgot theyre not allowed to sell buuz on good friday. Yikes. I only have one cask of wine! But then again theres only me to drink it, as poor Nick has to work today (and he wont get paid any extra either). Ive cleaned up, I turned on the telly to be confronted by the good friday appeal and some godbothering stuff, turned it off again, and am now contemplating watching my new futurama dvds.

I also have some choof coming today. Mmmm holidays.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 9 April 2004 00:40 (twenty-one years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 9 April 2004 01:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Damn you and your beer! I dont drink beer :( This is retarded... I have booze and Im freaking out that I cant buy any booze, like it's water or something. WTF is with me!?

God I am bored.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 9 April 2004 01:54 (twenty-one years ago)

i forgot/ran out of time to stock up on booze yesterday, and there is a party to attend tonight. d'oh!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 9 April 2004 02:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Very doh indeed! Whats with the easter booze ban anyway? Its not like we're all religious or some shit. If they banned everywhere selling non kosher food at ramadan or passover people would riot. Why do Christians get all the fun? Or lack thereof.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 9 April 2004 02:10 (twenty-one years ago)

hello my australasian friends!

rainy (rainy), Friday, 9 April 2004 02:57 (twenty-one years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 15 April 2004 08:22 (twenty-one years ago)

You should light a fire, dress up in the skins and put the skulls on stakes, and dance around the fire.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:02 (twenty-one years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:17 (twenty-one years ago)

City Poofter is a great name for a disco act.

I like the music of the Noh theatre. I have only one beautifully recorded CD which is great to play when you want to create a strange/magical mood.

My 4 yr old daughter just said, 'Dad, can I have the robot music to play in my bedroom? It will make the Green Goblin Disappear'. She means Kraftwerk - Music Non Stop.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:18 (twenty-one years ago)
