FAP-- colette's birthday, 25th may

there's like 30 FAP threads going on, but i figured that i'd start this one just to get the date in the diary and in people's heads, and then we can fine tune it later.

my birthday is a tuesday this year, which is pretty lame. so i figured a night drinking wine with ILX would be an entertaining mid-week option.

i'm terrible at thinking of locations, but i'd like one that is easy to get home from for me. which could mean (gasp!) a north london/islington location. any ideas or suggestions?

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Swimmer?

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:31 (twenty-one years ago)

works for me

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I like Le Swim but bearing in mind this is a school night could we not do it somewhere more central?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:33 (twenty-one years ago)

true i mean it is actually really easy for you to get home from central london colette

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I apologize in advance for my absence.

Barima (Barima), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:35 (twenty-one years ago)

the two places i was thinking of were the good old harrow (either downstairs or getting our own bartender upstairs) or the chapel bar (since it's close to my house and has comfy sofas)

but could do somewhere in, like, soho or something as well. i just haven't noticed any of them being especially good or anything.

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:36 (twenty-one years ago)

uhhh...glasshouse?

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:37 (twenty-one years ago)

NO!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:37 (twenty-one years ago)

But The Swimmer is faaaaaarrrrrrr (I don't care if there a bus what goes right by my house).

Chapel Bar was nice but pricey. But then again, I'm employed now, so that's not as much of a problem as it used to be.

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:38 (twenty-one years ago)

jesus, soho for the nine millionth time - use other areas of london please.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 7 May 2004 09:39 (twenty-one years ago)

no and glasshouse stores do not belong in the same sentence (i like it again)

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:39 (twenty-one years ago)

"glasshouse stores" and "demolish" should belong in the same sentence.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 7 May 2004 09:40 (twenty-one years ago)

there's a reason Soho is used so much. It is Central London thus convenient/fair compromise for large mount of people.

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:40 (twenty-one years ago)

that was a typo, i think

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:41 (twenty-one years ago)

i think the glasshouse is always a little cramped feeling, so probably would prefer somewhere else.

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:41 (twenty-one years ago)

would be alright on a Tuesday

altho Tuesday is QUIZ NIGHT at the One Tun and numerous other places

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I've been to lots of good FAPs at the GHS, but really, I loathe the place.

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:43 (twenty-one years ago)

i work and live in hampstead. therefore i would be much more inclined to go to faps without the hassle of having to go into central london at all. it isn't as far from the centre of town as streatham was, but nevertheless it's still a hassle and central london generally gives me a headache anyway.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 7 May 2004 09:44 (twenty-one years ago)

right. so somewhere that isn't the glasshouse.

ed? you're usually good at thinking of places...somewhere spacious? i know the main problem with chapel bar is the cost, so i'm willing to give up on it if people really mind that issue.

did you guys hate the harrow, then? cheapish, central, perhaps our own room and bartender where people can bring ipods and play dj...

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:44 (twenty-one years ago)

You know what, Marcello, why don't you have your own FAP up in Hampstead, and you can invite who you like, and exclude who you like, instead of just moaning on everyone else's threads?

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I second the Harrow - its open enough to get a largeish group of people in there without everyone having to split off into little subgroups like at the Princess Louise or Champion or wherever. But downstairs should be fine as its never crowded on a Tuesday.

Ignore the grandstanding curmudgeon please.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Where is the Harrow again?

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:48 (twenty-one years ago)

You know what, Marcello, why don't you have your own FAP up in Hampstead, and you can invite who you like, and exclude who you like, instead of just moaning on everyone else's threads?

Like you don't?

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 7 May 2004 09:48 (twenty-one years ago)

it was where we had the dean party. it's off fleet street.

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah! That was good, Colette. If we could get a bartender upstairs it would be ace (cause it's hard to open and close the doors while balancing multiple drinks).

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

i prefer the Glasshouse to the Harrow but this is not really relevant to anyone other than myself, I don't really care where it is

Marcello i don't really want to start up beef with you but I am confused as to why you post negatively on threads like this with people you surely don't consider to be your friends...or would you like to be friends?

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:52 (twenty-one years ago)

children! no fighting on my birthday thread.

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:53 (twenty-one years ago)

how about no more posts at all? Harrow (off Fleet St), 25th May, see you there :)

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I am providing the political counterbalance necessary to maintain a healthy democracy innit.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 7 May 2004 09:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I third the Harrow, as it is a short bus ride from my office. In the diary etc

Dave B (daveb), Friday, 7 May 2004 09:57 (twenty-one years ago)

is it in the ILX calendar thingy? i don't know how to add that.

and, do people agree with matt that we should just stay downstairs? or should i book the upstairs rooms? if i can guarantee about 20 people (which doesn't seem that hard) she'll give us a bartender of our very own.

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:01 (twenty-one years ago)

If we can get a barperson upstairs, I like upstairs! You're cute, I doubt you'll have trouble pulling 20 people, Colette. ::ducks::

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Harrow works for me! I'm at some dull work thingy in EC1 that day - so even better.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:08 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah. i'm going to hit you for saying i'm cute. hello? i'll take any compliments i get!

thanks steve, i've added it to the calendar. in a variation of my favorite color scheme: purple and lime green!

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:09 (twenty-one years ago)

(No, you'd hit me for implying you would pull 20 people - i.e. calling you a slut!)

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:10 (twenty-one years ago)

ah. so true, though!

(missed the english phrase, so that's why i missed the insult!)

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:11 (twenty-one years ago)

only 20?

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:32 (twenty-one years ago)

this is so going to be an awesome fap-- infighting and insults are already flying!

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:33 (twenty-one years ago)

And you've already pulled! ;-)

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:34 (twenty-one years ago)

sigh. where did i get this reputation!?

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Same place I got the reputation for beating people up!

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:36 (twenty-one years ago)

you tell people that, don't you?

have i been saying things when i'm drunk again that are inappropriate and perhaps untrue?

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't even know where Fleet Street is.

nb. someone (probably Stevem) has put yr big day on the calendar, Colette. Easy.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:47 (twenty-one years ago)

HOW CAN YOU LIVE IN LONDON AND NOT KNOW WHERE FLEET STREET IS?!?!?

I mean, obviously, it crosses the River Fleet. Where else would it be?

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:48 (twenty-one years ago)

i never used to know where Saville Row was, or Harley St

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:49 (twenty-one years ago)

i put it up. as said above, in my favorite color combo. which i noticed is like the same as for your party and like everything else on the calendar. so i am not original.

the pub is here: http://tinyurl.com/t07d

who doesn't know where fleet street is?

(xpost, kate OTM)

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Well I know it used to be where all the newspapers were or something, but other than that...it's on the Monopoly board, right? Ummm, is it near The Strand?

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:50 (twenty-one years ago)

i just sent a link to a map...that should answer all your questions.

(and a good change of subject from us all fighting to accusing you of being directionally challenged)

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Fleet Street is what The Strand is called when it gets near and goes over the River Fleet!

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:52 (twenty-one years ago)

kate is the master of invisible rivers. she turned up at my house and within seconds had informed me that i lived over an invisible river. it is amazing.

fleet street is between the strand and blackfriars.

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Your old building was practically on top of the New River! That was quite astonishing! (Not even a real river, but a 17th Century Engineering work to bring in fresh water.)

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Hang on, there is no real actual River Fleet in London, is there?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:08 (twenty-one years ago)

It's still there. It's underground, but the bloody thing is indeed still flowing and still flooding basements, and there are still bridges over it!

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:11 (twenty-one years ago)

The River Fleet in all its glory...

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:16 (twenty-one years ago)

i was about to post a thread regarding my birthday, but now it seems all a bit FAP happy. Can people cope with 2 birthday FAPs in the space of 5 days? I wouldn't know where to hold it anyway. I do want to have one though.

alix (alix), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:16 (twenty-one years ago)

when's your birthday? there's never too many faps...

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Runs from Fleet Road in Hampstead to Fleet Street in central Lodnon, dunnit?

xpost - Alix, do it! The more FAPs the better, &c.

cis (cis), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

i probably won't have a FAP as my birthday clashes with Carsmile's birthday/wedding anniversary extravaganza on the 15th but this is fine as i am never that comfortable being the reason for a FAP

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:22 (twenty-one years ago)

still too fucking far to swim.

the fewer faps the better. we ought to go back to the old system of one every six months or whatever it was. made it more of an event.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 7 May 2004 11:23 (twenty-one years ago)

it's Barry in disguise (no diamonds tho)

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:24 (twenty-one years ago)

You're the 21st, are you not, Lixi?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:24 (twenty-one years ago)

21st, yes. I'm not too keen on being reason for a FAP either - I know I never buy anyone a drink and I really don't want people to think I am doing this just to get stuff bought for me, but also I know that if i don't do anything i will sit at home that night and wish i'd arranged something.

alix (alix), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:28 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't really know where fleet st, saville row, or harley st are.

the notion that it takes an unreasonable amount of time to travel between hampstead and soho is rather curious.

toby (tsg20), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:37 (twenty-one years ago)

i was concerned when a minicab company didn't know where fleet street was. toby, i think it is just people being intentionally difficult...

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I am now obsessed with finding out where Saville Row is, cause I don't actually know. I thought it was near Regent Street, but I might be conflating it with Carnaby Street.

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:43 (twenty-one years ago)

i think i've found it when i was wandering around looking for fun on a sunday night. (it wasn't fun)

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:44 (twenty-one years ago)

it is just off Regent St. we passed it on the first FAP i ever went to.

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Mapquest doesn't believe in it.

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Saville Row is on the other side of Regent Street from Carnaby Street - ie Mayfair instead of Soho.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:46 (twenty-one years ago)

i think everyone should bring maps to this fap. clearly geography is going to be the hot topic.

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Let's just cut to the chase and have the FAP at the A to Z Geographer's Shop!

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:49 (twenty-one years ago)

i prefer the big fight idea

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:49 (twenty-one years ago)

can we have a big fight at the AtoZ shop?

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:50 (twenty-one years ago)

if you walk down holborn you'll eventually get onto fleet street. i think people don't take the road seriously for the reason that it rhymes. it's hard to take names that rhyme seriously.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Harringay!

No, HarringEy!

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:52 (twenty-one years ago)

(Sorry, I was imagining our geographical FITE!!! at the map shop.)

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:52 (twenty-one years ago)

u r all harrin gay

ken c (ken c), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

geographical fite? wow! i can't even imagine!

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:54 (twenty-one years ago)

i kill you with Gunnersbury

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Geographical Jello Wrestling. The next Olympic event.

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I almost killed myself with Gunnersbury. I was very lost for a few hours.

alix (alix), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

both harringay and harringey exist as discrete areas of london.

you could always have an orgy instead of, or in addition to, the fight.

geographical pedant, Friday, 7 May 2004 11:59 (twenty-one years ago)

you know when i said that the allytom fap thread was one of the weirdest i'd read in a while? i've now changed my mind...

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 12:03 (twenty-one years ago)

But if Colette pulls twenty people, she will presumably have to dump at least 19 of them!

I will come to this, I imagine, if you are trying to count.

I would very much like a Lixi birthday FAP as well - Lixi, I am always very happy to see you and buy you a drink, and I realise you don't have much cash and don't expect a drink back. I have money nowadays, and am happy to buy drinks for people I like.

My last sort-of girlfriend once got in a black cab on Charing Cross Road by Leicester Square to go to Tottenham Court Road (she was in a hurry), and had to tell the driver how to get there. I suspect The Knowledge isn't what it used to be ("Can you find London on this map of the South East of England? Okay, that'll do.")

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:39 (twenty-one years ago)

But if Colette pulls twenty people, she will presumably have to dump at least 19 of them

1. that's not true. i managed with 5 at the same time for a while there, so that's only dumping 15. and that's assuming i wasn't trying to break my personal best!

2. that would be a really exhausting evening, then. i'm still recovering from this round, and it wasn't nearly as massive as that...

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:45 (twenty-one years ago)

i was right when i said you were a dark horse

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

The funniest thing about that post is that you don't even have to take it out of context...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

This is the reason that I'm always tediously faithful. It just seems like so much EFFORT to balance multiple things.

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:51 (twenty-one years ago)

oh come on! i just mean breaking up with 5 people in 3 weeks is tiring!

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:51 (twenty-one years ago)

my mind, how it boggles

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:53 (twenty-one years ago)

::insert random smutty comment to the effect of "that aint' yer mind, bub!"::

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

you are better than that, oh wait...

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:55 (twenty-one years ago)

What, you went from five to none? Do you not get the bends?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:56 (twenty-one years ago)

the effort to balance everything was far less then the effort required to end things and deal with the fallout.

(xpost-- yay. AF has made me laugh)

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I am considered good at picking places by someone, never did I think that I'd see that written on ILX.

Ed (dali), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:00 (twenty-one years ago)

too late, ed. hope you don't mind the harrow!

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:01 (twenty-one years ago)

OK Computer is way better though.

xxpost

ken c (ken c), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:01 (twenty-one years ago)

i was stumped on "Nice Dream" etc. oh i'm off now. xx

ken c (ken c), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Not at all. (Although Stevem could call ahead to get them to clean the pipes) I am just touched to have for once, triumphed over the Steering Comittee.

Ed (dali), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Are these things open to all? I'm still reasonably new to London (just started working in town, lived just outside it for years though) and always looking for new friends...

Flameproof, Friday, 7 May 2004 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

yep, you're more than welcome to come along!

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Ed i think Colette was confusing you with someone else, sorry to burst your bubble, tho at least it was close to where you live, arf

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:28 (twenty-one years ago)

(Just bear in mind what WEIRD friends you are letting yourself in for on the basis of this thread...)

;-)

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:28 (twenty-one years ago)

yeh heya Flameproof, useful name to have round these parts

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I like to tempt fate... :-)

Flameproof, Friday, 7 May 2004 14:29 (twenty-one years ago)

so, which part of this thread made you want to meet us? the geography? the fights?

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

The River Fleet?

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Can't beat a bit of ultra-violence whilst discussing the merits of underground rivers for a good night out I find

Flameproof, Friday, 7 May 2004 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

this person is obviously going to fit in well around here...

colette (a2lette), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

aww, shucks...

Flameproof (Flameproof), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:34 (twenty-one years ago)

but can you swing a sack of door-knobs?

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:35 (twenty-one years ago)

"Can I?"

Flameproof (Flameproof), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

keys. money. fags. map. snooker ball in a sock.

yup, that should cover it.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I like to tempt fate... :-)

"Hello, karma?"

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:45 (twenty-one years ago)

(Have a smashing time, Colette!)

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Colette, my email is bouncy but Ed relayed your message - phone me over the weekend!

suzy (suzy), Friday, 7 May 2004 18:12 (twenty-one years ago)

ok, i went to another birthday party at the harrow late last week and we had a bartender upstairs and it was like a whole different world. so i'd like to call and book it with a bartender, but will only do it if we'll get 15 or so people. so who has a vague plan that they'd like to come to a pub on fleet street a week from tomorrow? if it's just going to be a small one i won't bother, but it was very nice having such fast service and all that space...

colette (a2lette), Monday, 17 May 2004 08:39 (twenty-one years ago)

well, rude not to and all :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 17 May 2004 08:52 (twenty-one years ago)

will DJ iPod be playing?

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 08:57 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, i'll bring some speakers and my ipod and other people are welcome to bring their ipods as well to take turns. i could probably swing a discman as well, just since i'm so classy and stuff.

colette (a2lette), Monday, 17 May 2004 08:58 (twenty-one years ago)

(being allowed to bring speakers and picking our own music is another benefit of having the upstairs part rather than the main bar)

colette (a2lette), Monday, 17 May 2004 08:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I have an evening seminar (argh) but will be along to this afterwards :)

sgs (sgs), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I am coming to this, but then you knew that anyway.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:26 (twenty-one years ago)

ok, so i'm counting about 10 including the mysterious flameproof...

colette (a2lette), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Hiya. I also. Would you like cake?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:34 (twenty-one years ago)

cake! as long as it doesn't have raising in it, you'll be my favorite guest. and i'm not kidding about that.

(except maybe the small black cat that was there on thursday)

colette (a2lette), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:35 (twenty-one years ago)

hi make that 12 please! :)

ken c (ken c), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:40 (twenty-one years ago)

raising? Raisins or baking powder? Are you allergic?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:41 (twenty-one years ago)

just boook it colette, there's no way you would get less than 15 people at this.

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:43 (twenty-one years ago)

raisins. like dried up grapes (ooh, are they called currants here?)

is it bratty to say 'yes, please, make me a cake. but only a certain kind.'?

(i figured it was less bratty than having you bring a cake and then pretending to eat it and feeding it to the cat because i really dislike a main ingredient)

colette (a2lette), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:44 (twenty-one years ago)

i was asked what kind of cake i wanted and my answer was 'CAAAAAAAKE'

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:45 (twenty-one years ago)

No no, not rude, I was just checking. Bollocks to raisins anyway, they are for scones and nowt else.

xpost yes CAAAAAAAAKE

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Dunno if you counted me (I feel like the kid being picked last when picking players for the baseball team). But I'm coming.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:47 (twenty-one years ago)

i had counted you rob, since you said you'd come. but i didn't count ken because he was just inserting random jokes and never said if he was coming.

(liz, i also say bollocks to raisins. but never to chocolate. chocolate and cake are beautiful things)

colette (a2lette), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Ginger, Liz, ginger. I am predictable.

Also hungry.

Sarah (starry), Monday, 17 May 2004 09:52 (twenty-one years ago)

(Lixi kind of wants to have a birthday FAP but is not sure when btw)

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:02 (twenty-one years ago)

(I think the jury is still out on the venue - ie we came up with one and a time and all but I have completely forgotten because I have killed all my brain cells with booze. I personally think we should try and go to some form of funfair).

Sarah (starry), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:05 (twenty-one years ago)

you am a genius

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I cannae think of one though, unless we all do a ROAD TRIP up to Blackpool and "ride the big one", also, we could go on that really big rollercoaster, the "Pepsi Max Big One".

Sarah (starry), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:07 (twenty-one years ago)

there was one on Shoreditch Park a few weeks back, bah

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:08 (twenty-one years ago)

(are we keeping the lixifap in parenthesis? i could do sat, sun, mon, really any days but friday and tuesday. holy smokes a birthday fap at a funfair. it puts me to shame!)

xpost. apparently not about the parenthesis.

colette (a2lette), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:08 (twenty-one years ago)

weekend good

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:09 (twenty-one years ago)

there's something intriguing about a sunday fap, mostly because sundays are often depressing and/or boring. but it'll depend on what lixi wants to do. is she around?

colette (a2lette), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:10 (twenty-one years ago)

ARGH NO MORE ROLLERCOASTERS PLEASE!

(When is this likely to be people? I think I've only got one weekend free until Glasto, or something silly like that, and Saturday is out)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:10 (twenty-one years ago)

(Yes, or curly brackets, as I prefer to call them. I have forgotten whether she is werking or not sur le weekend, loike. Lor where is my memory, ah yes, at the bottom of a GIN glass).

Sarah (starry), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm thinking more "have a bish at the coconut shy" rather than "puke up guts on rollercoaster", like.

Sarah (starry), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:13 (twenty-one years ago)

'problem' is also Fri/Sat likely to involve American visitors and drinking plus one or more of dancing, karaoke, lying on the street wishing we wuz dead

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh flip that's reminded me, I've organised something else for Thursday that I'm going to have to reschedule now curses chiz argh argh. This ALSO reminds me I want to go see that fairground exhibition in Croydon, but that doesn't help us drink away Lixi's birthday, does it now.

Sarah (starry), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:15 (twenty-one years ago)

when is the Croydon thing? i want to go to Croydon (i have reasons)

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:41 (twenty-one years ago)

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:44 (twenty-one years ago)

It's on til 5 September.

Not quite sure what FREE HAPPY HOURS EVERY WEDNESDAY & SUNDAY 3PM-5PM could mean in this context though!

Sarah (starry), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:46 (twenty-one years ago)

i am totally up for that exhibition - the happy hour may yet refer to a bar of sorts ensonced in the clock tower centre - they have a cinemas as well or did have

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:48 (twenty-one years ago)

(CroydonFAP is a good idea because we can go to Doughmasters and get excellent pizza or rolled up sandwich type things - plus, yes, TRAMS)

sorry for derailing

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Beautiful. I might toddle along to this on Sunday (provided my head/guts doesn't feel as bad as it did THIS Sunday when I was convinced something inside me HAD DIED).

Sarah (starry), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually I've never been to Croydon! It's quite the adventure for little old me. Pizza you say. Man, I'm hungry!

Sarah (starry), Monday, 17 May 2004 10:50 (twenty-one years ago)

sorry re: putting random jokes at the top colette i would love to come and i guess i haven't said before!

(ok actually the random joke insertion is part of my being mean to you online mwahahahahaa)

ken c (ken c), Monday, 17 May 2004 11:09 (twenty-one years ago)

well done my apprentice

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 11:11 (twenty-one years ago)

there are always two, a master and an apprentice, no more, no less.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 17 May 2004 11:15 (twenty-one years ago)

ok, now i'm going to run away crying.

(not really, just off to the evil office for the afternoon. maybe no ilx for the rest of the day, depending on which desk i 'hotdesk' at. boo)

colette (a2lette), Monday, 17 May 2004 11:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm in, yes.

CroydonFAP - in some ways, a good thing. In several other ways, a very terrible thing indeed.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Monday, 17 May 2004 11:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm coming, obviously. And I like raisins. But I'll bring my own.

JimD (JimD), Monday, 17 May 2004 11:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Raisin hell!

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

(backs away dejectedly)

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll be there.

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 17 May 2004 11:57 (twenty-one years ago)

ok, i count 16. i'm calling.

(i feel so naughty on the computer in the middle of the stupid room with my back to the front door of the evil office and on ILX. i am easily pleased.)

colette (a2lette), Monday, 17 May 2004 12:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Make that 17, sez I. And if I can swing it, i'll be bringing my new friends along too:

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Monday, 17 May 2004 13:02 (twenty-one years ago)

i miss The Turdles

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 13:03 (twenty-one years ago)

look at them! they look like dirty, wrinkly evil trolls. and people put those in scones! ewwwww.

colette (a2lette), Monday, 17 May 2004 13:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Make that 18!

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 17 May 2004 13:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, but imagine if you bit into a scone and your teeth made contact with something hard, and you delved around in your mouth to see what it was, and produced a tiny guitar or a teeny snare drum or maybe even a miniscule amp..!

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Monday, 17 May 2004 13:12 (twenty-one years ago)

You would be wracked with guilt for the rest of your sorry life.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 17 May 2004 13:13 (twenty-one years ago)

that's what's *really* happening with those ppl who claim they're picking up radio stations thru their fillings!

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 17 May 2004 13:13 (twenty-one years ago)

i would pretend it was Busted and devour away

stevem, filling in for kate (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 13:14 (twenty-one years ago)

i would eat all their accessories, maybe even the lead singer's hair. but not the raisins themselves. ick.

is anyone bored enough to find out if the ad campaign actually increased raisin sales or decreased it because children found these guys either scary or friendly, and who wants to eat your friends?

(i ask that question on ILX? what am i thinking?)

colette (a2lette), Monday, 17 May 2004 13:34 (twenty-one years ago)

20

Dave B (daveb), Monday, 17 May 2004 13:43 (twenty-one years ago)

make that 20.

Marcello Carlin, Monday, 17 May 2004 14:23 (twenty-one years ago)

whew

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

ooh, I'll come too then

chris (chris), Monday, 17 May 2004 14:32 (twenty-one years ago)

actually, i think i counted dave b already. since it's in his diary and all.

so 19. but that's enough. i think i can get at least one IRL friend to come out-- hello, jim!

colette (a2lette), Monday, 17 May 2004 14:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Jim is an internet mentalist now...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 17 May 2004 14:39 (twenty-one years ago)

one of us!
one of us!

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 17 May 2004 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

what if Jim were one of us?

cis (cis), Monday, 17 May 2004 14:43 (twenty-one years ago)

What, just a slob like one of us?

Pete (Pete), Monday, 17 May 2004 14:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I was so close on Saturday night to getting Jim to sidle up to Chris at the bar, give him a nudge, nod in Vicky's direction and go "hey, I think you're well in with that lass mate". If only I weren't such a poor liar.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 17 May 2004 15:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Ooh, I'm mysterious... I'm also interested in going to the funfair thing, although Croydon's a bit out of the way, innit?

Flameproof (Flameproof), Monday, 17 May 2004 15:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Matt that would be better than asking them 'how's married life?' ;)

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 15:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Croydon is not as out of the way as Brighton of course

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

It is on the other hand a complete shithole.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 17 May 2004 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, funfairs, IKEA, the strange tower place, what's there not to love?

Sarah (starry), Monday, 17 May 2004 15:13 (twenty-one years ago)

you're forgetting DOUGHMASTERS and TRAMS - and my mate's night at a bar round thar which I always enjoy. oh well, what else is going to happen between Friday and Monday? we need to sort it aht

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 15:14 (twenty-one years ago)

STOP ORGANISING FUN.
becoz
ORGANISING STOPS FUN.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 17 May 2004 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

who said it was gonna be fun?

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 15:58 (twenty-one years ago)

What, just a slob like one of us?

Man, imagine that! :/

JimD (JimD), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Pete, you can discuss the concept all you like round the same pub table with the same droopy-eyed suspects, but it doesn't make it any more true.

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:09 (twenty-one years ago)

(Note: when I said "many good things" about CroydonFAP, there is actually only one good thing, that being that it'd only take me one bus to get home)

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:30 (twenty-one years ago)

i got a night bus from Traf Square all the way to Croydon once

stevem (blueski), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

STOP ORGANISING FUN.
becoz
ORGANISING STOPS FUN.

haha, wait.

ilx??? ORGANISATION???!?!?!? HAHAHHAHAHAHA?!?!??!?!?!?!??!??! OMGWTFROFLMAOHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHHHAHALOLOLOLOLOLOLOL???????!!!!! BOOZER?!?!?!? PISSUP?!??!?!?! HAHAHHA ORGANISE CANNOT??!?!?!?!

ken c (ken c), Monday, 17 May 2004 18:23 (twenty-one years ago)

haha, what i meant was ilx probably can't organise a pissup in a boozer*.. so i guess there's probably a very low probability of fun ever being stopped by such organisation.

(*stop being pedantic here)

ken c (ken c), Monday, 17 May 2004 18:26 (twenty-one years ago)

i will probably be at this.

toby (tsg20), Monday, 17 May 2004 18:26 (twenty-one years ago)

We totally should organise a pissup in a brewery some time.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 17 May 2004 18:30 (twenty-one years ago)

can someone get Barry a saucer of milk?

chris (chris), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:27 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, i'll bring some speakers and my ipod and other people are welcome to bring their ipods as well to take turns. i could probably swing a discman as well, just since i'm so classy and stuff.

DIY DJ? Sheer genius...and cost effective.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:29 (twenty-one years ago)

We totally should organise a pissup in a brewery some time

BREWPUB!

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 06:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey Colette, your email seems to be in a state of non-workingness..

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 09:28 (twenty-one years ago)

well i'm glad i did the head count since she was very firm about needing 20 people to get our very own bartender. but it's booked now, i'm excited.

also, does anyone that's coming to this live/work near knightsbridge?

hey andrew farrell i've sent you an email...

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 09:48 (twenty-one years ago)

she was very firm about needing 20 people to get our very own bartender

maybe we can offer to serve ourselves!

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 09:56 (twenty-one years ago)

DIY DJ? Sheer genius...and cost effective.

thanks nichole. and to anyone that wants to come but doesn't have/want to bring an ipod, if you let me know some of your favorite songs i'm going to be downloading stuff in the next couple days and making playlists and you're welcome to suggest songs that you like. so now that the venue is sorted and we've even got a spinoff in croyden, let's pick some music! woo!

*waiting for 'heard it through the grapevine jokes*

(xpost-- ken, you haven't been there before, have you? the upstairs is lovely and big but you have to go up a flight of stairs, outside and up another flight of stairs. it is deadly by the end of the night if you're carrying drinks up all the stairs. or is that some joke about servicing the manager?!)

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 10:00 (twenty-one years ago)

sounds like they need a dumb waiter.

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 10:10 (twenty-one years ago)

(ahh i don't think i have been there before - i was more thinking of the lines of if there's a bar there on that floor that is unmanned we can offer to self-service and draw our own pints from their taps.. this morning's training has made my brain numb i think)

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 10:13 (twenty-one years ago)

so which there is there?

Flameproof (Flameproof), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 14:13 (twenty-one years ago)

How old are you going to be?

Sean Carter (not my real name) (roc), Thursday, 20 May 2004 22:23 (twenty-one years ago)

a gentleman shouldn't ask!

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 21 May 2004 06:51 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm going to be 27. which feels really young (as i've mentioned on another thread) because loads of my friends are turning 30+ and i keep thinking 'three years till i hit 30! that's a long time!'

colette (a2lette), Friday, 21 May 2004 09:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Heh, no it's not! Sorry Colette!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 21 May 2004 09:44 (twenty-one years ago)

This is on Tuesday isn't it? If so I may not be able to if so which is sad, I have to be in Birmingham at nine the next morning for a conference/meeting

chris (chris), Friday, 21 May 2004 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, this is on tuesday. but if you can't come to this, come to lixi's on monday at the princess louise! woo!

(although people can't get so drunk at lixi's that they don't come on tuesday, since i promised at least 20 people...)

colette (a2lette), Friday, 21 May 2004 10:05 (twenty-one years ago)

i feel okay today really which after last night's performance convinces me i have in fact become superhuman, fortified with iron, nuts and brown sugar

stevem (blueski), Friday, 21 May 2004 10:06 (twenty-one years ago)

mmm tasty!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 21 May 2004 10:12 (twenty-one years ago)

i have a Great Idea of a special secret treat for tomorrow. can't promise that it'll come off, but it might be worth turning up as close to 7pm as possible if you don't want to miss out...

colette (a2lette), Monday, 24 May 2004 10:54 (twenty-one years ago)

stevem paired up with MC in Speed Dating hilarity shockah

stevem (blueski), Monday, 24 May 2004 10:58 (twenty-one years ago)

no games. i promise.

it's way better than that.

colette (a2lette), Monday, 24 May 2004 10:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Does it involve thinking of songs which mention herbs and spices? *rubs hands in anticipation*

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Monday, 24 May 2004 11:09 (twenty-one years ago)

no. it's way better than that. that sounds like a game. this is YUMMY.

(although if you feel like leading people in your little game, feel free, i won't stop you)

colette (a2lette), Monday, 24 May 2004 11:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 24 May 2004 11:49 (twenty-one years ago)

So -- Colette at the Harrow? Is that what's happening?

I am out of 'touch'.

the bluefox, Monday, 24 May 2004 11:58 (twenty-one years ago)

That is what is happening.

Does anyone want to volunteer to drive me to and from the pub?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 24 May 2004 12:00 (twenty-one years ago)

it might be worth turning up as close to 7pm as possible

I will try but can't guarantee it. Depends what the traffic is like on the M40.

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 24 May 2004 12:03 (twenty-one years ago)

yes. birthday fap at the harrow pub, 22 whitefriars street, EC4Y 8JJ from 7pm. upstairs in the function room, we should have our own bartender. people can bring music if they want to play dj for a bit.

map here: http://tinyurl.com/t07d

maybe there will be enough of the special treat to last the evening, we'll see! (gosh, i hope it works out!)

colette (a2lette), Monday, 24 May 2004 12:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Awww shit, I can't come to this, clashing as it does with my pal Steph's book launch. Apparently there is going to be a '60s ambulance parked outside Berkeley Square as Annabel's ban jeans and Steph needs to change in order to get into her own afterparty there. This is made funnier by us *not* being the type of person for this sort of place, really.

(Colette I think I've guessed the surprise; it's alliterative, has a hole in the middle and yum yum yum)

suzy (suzy), Monday, 24 May 2004 12:16 (twenty-one years ago)

pinefox i am disappointed you are not using the calendar!

stevem (blueski), Monday, 24 May 2004 12:49 (twenty-one years ago)

That is the worst ILX meta joke ever. I salute you, sir.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 24 May 2004 12:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Still no dice. The link about doesn'[t work. This is odd.

Dave B (daveb), Monday, 24 May 2004 12:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Does anyone want to volunteer to drive me to and from the pub?

I can! But it'd have to be in the sense that one would drive cattle. ie I'd follow you, shouting and whistling and occasionally poking you with a stick.

JimD (JimD), Monday, 24 May 2004 13:00 (twenty-one years ago)

ok, i think i managed to foreshadow the special treat a bit at alex's awesome birthday fap...aren't people excited?!

colette (a2lette), Monday, 24 May 2004 22:55 (twenty-one years ago)

dave, try putting a www in it, it's the only way I can get it to work

Vicky (Vicky), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 07:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I still feel a bit under the weather today, not sure if I will be able to make this tonight :(

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 07:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I am a bit hungover. I don't think I'd recovered from the phenomenal amount of wine that I drank at the weekend. Maybe off the sauce tonight shockah?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 07:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Cheers Vickly - that works now. Strangeness.

Dave B (daveb), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 08:38 (twenty-one years ago)

So Miss C, what time are you kicking off this evening? I know yr super special lardy treat is planned for 7, but is that the official starting time? If so I will be looking at pretty shoes between work and then.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 09:45 (twenty-one years ago)

pwetty shooooes...

all i need to do is stop in at smiths on kingsway to buy more stickers (well, rude not to as i'm passing!) and i'm there ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 09:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Why do you torment me so, Carsmile?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 09:49 (twenty-one years ago)

do you want me to get some for you petal? are you struggling out tonight or not?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Is the album gone beyond all hope, Matt?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm feeling like death today - some throat infection that seems to be invading my sinuses - so I don't think I'm going to be able to make it tonight. Sorry Colette.

Best. Joke. Ever. Congratulations on your achievement!

Right, so it's definitely worth a teensy bit of effort to come down tonight, if my inklings re the Yummy Special Treat are in any way accurate...mmm...

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 10:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Argh, bollocks - I now have a performance appraisal at 9am tomorrow. God *really* is trying his best stop me from attending this FAP.

Liz - alas, my sticker album is gone, gone, gone! What a waste of money. I mean, it was a waste of money anyway, but even more so now I've nothing to show for it.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 12:24 (twenty-one years ago)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 12:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Last night, in a dream.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 12:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 12:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I last saw it in my bag, in a kitchen in Whitechapel. Only that afternoon had I been congratulating myself on finally getting Phillipe Cocu.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 12:33 (twenty-one years ago)

stop talking about football cards! talk about yummy yummy treats!

i don't think i can be there any earlier than 7, i'm being really really lazy today...

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 14:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I've been sitting with my foot up all day at work and, really, fuck this. I'm coming to the pub. But if anyone sees me becoming particularly pissed they should stop me at all costs. And I'm going home early.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 14:34 (twenty-one years ago)

i would like to come to this, even if only for a short while, but i still feel a bit ropey, and i should concentrate on some early nights. so, i will wish you a happy birthday from here colette

gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 14:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Gareth your Zen-like level of self-control has just ruined my resolve.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

back to bed the both of you

Dr Nofun (blueski), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 14:38 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm currently not quite sure, i'm pretty tired and have a long day of maths ahead of me tomorrow, getting an early night seems quite tempting.

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 14:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah, I need to leave by seven thirty so not sure if it is worth me making it now at all. And I've missed the film I was going to fill the gap with.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Pete I'll be there by 5.45, which might entice or might put you off completely.

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 15:13 (twenty-one years ago)

me too, leaving now innit.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 15:14 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm gonna get some food and then be there. deciding between chinese food or curry or fried chicken or organic salad with soya milk.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 15:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, alright. Early doors coke it is.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

i can't make this either as i have houseguest tonight and he won't want to trek all the way from w12 to the east. grrr. have a good fap and happy birthday colette.

it's the same day as this momentous occasion btw:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/may/25/newsid_2991000/2991847.stm
which is how the band got their name. or something.

koogs (koogs), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 16:29 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks everyone that was able to come out...i had a really great time. and i was very impressed that we managed to get through 3 dozen krispy kremes! yum...

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 10:01 (twenty-one years ago)

The hat is still looking good.

the bellefox, Wednesday, 26 May 2004 10:33 (twenty-one years ago)

You would make a perfect Krispy Kreme vendor!

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 10:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Last night, a prophecy was fulfilled. We had a FAP with real actual live cats.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 10:46 (twenty-one years ago)

How did they taste?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 10:57 (twenty-one years ago)

tweelicious

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 10:57 (twenty-one years ago)

those cats were so wonderful! i can't believe she just sat there in my arms while people came up and stoked her...so calm!

props to matt dc for arriving up the windy stairs on crutches! he's so cool...

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 11:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Did the cats eat any Krispy Kreme? Fat kitties... They were very very cute.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 11:35 (twenty-one years ago)

It is one of life's little ironies that Alan wasn't present.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 11:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I cannot believe I missed cats & donuts!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 11:41 (twenty-one years ago)

i think carlos was trying to feed the cats donuts, but they didn't seem to like them.

thanks for the cake, liz...i think it is maybe the best cake i've ever eaten! i was planning on bringing it to work to eat with lunch, but this morning i decided i'd rather have it as my dinner. yay!

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 11:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw, I'm glad you like the cake. I am the cake lady, so if anyone is ever in dire need of baked goods, they can just contact me.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 12:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Hello!

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 13:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Liz is throwing down the iron chef gauntlet, but does Cis hear the clang?

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 13:19 (twenty-one years ago)

that would be the best fap ever. ILXchef...

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 13:21 (twenty-one years ago)

May I be the judge please?

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 13:22 (twenty-one years ago)

we get to have like 6 judges, and 6 people to do crappy voiceovers!

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 13:25 (twenty-one years ago)

can there be an ilx curry chef contest too? curries are nice..

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 13:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh lummy I forgot about the cakeoff or whatever it was going to be called.

Yes yes curry contest! Yours will be 'king hot though, won't it Ken.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 14:21 (twenty-one years ago)

BAKEOFF!!!

liz vs cis, each has to make 6 cakes each and then we judge (and diplomatically come to a draw so we have to have a rematch ;))

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 14:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes yes curry contest! Yours will be 'king hot though, won't it Ken.

I can then give it names like "DON'T TRY IT".

I think The Bake Off should have its own thread for maximum organisation fun.

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 15:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't believe I missed the cats, either! And I was there and all!

Yummy donuts. I can't believe how many I ate. OK, only two. But cake as well. Greedy pig.

And HSA turned up after I'd got tired and gone home. The bastard!

Possibly Kate Again (kate), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Ed would have to be in the bake-off too.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 15:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Eep this is getting scary. However: the more cake the merrier, ja?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

how would a bake off work? would the contestants bring their selections somewhere, like carsmile suggested? or try to find somewhere with a couple ovens?

sounds like a county fair to me!

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 15:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Liz gets DA PHEAR now Ed's been shoved into the contest.

I'd say bake and bring otherwise it'll be all 'this isn't like my oven at home!' if the bakers fuck up their baking.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 15:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't care providing there is cake. Lovely, lovely cake. I love cake, it's great.

Ricardo (RickyT), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 15:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Mmm, cake. This should be the Wednesday before Glasto, to fortify us for the ordeal ahead (and also because I'll be there)

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 15:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Cake, cake, cake, cake.

Ricardo (RickyT), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 15:17 (twenty-one years ago)

mmmm cake.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 15:18 (twenty-one years ago)

what if the contestants brought the cakes *to* glastonbury?!?!

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Num!

(Did I already wish you a happy birthday, Colette? If not, happy day indeed. :-))

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 15:31 (twenty-one years ago)

what if the contestants brought the cakes *to* glastonbury?!?!

we could all chip in for the 'extra ingredients' required

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

what if the contestants brought the cakes *to* glastonbury?!?!

yeah!

now, who wants to give me a glastonbury ticket so i can take part?

cis (cis), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

we could all chip in for the 'extra ingredients' required

"There's a tiny bottle of conditioner in my slice!"

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 15:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Best bit about taking cake to glastonbury is that if any cakes don't turn out great you can sell them to hippies as 'special' cake at £5 a slice...

Flameproof (Flameproof), Thursday, 27 May 2004 07:14 (twenty-one years ago)

but when they don't get the 'desired effect', they'd come back for more cake, which would mean that you'd end up feeding all your cake to hippies and have none for you and yr mates :(

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 27 May 2004 07:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Did the mysterious Flameproof turn up, then?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 27 May 2004 07:17 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, I spoke to him a lot.

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 27 May 2004 07:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, I do indeed exist, much to most people's surprise...

Simon (né flameproof) (Flameproof), Friday, 28 May 2004 12:37 (twenty-one years ago)

haha welcome to us, Flameproof. Take no notice of those people saying strange things that start with "I thought you were Marce...".

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Friday, 28 May 2004 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

From behind, I thought he was Cabbage.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 28 May 2004 14:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude!

Sarah (starry), Friday, 28 May 2004 14:34 (twenty-one years ago)

matt dc has only ever known cabbage from behind.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 28 May 2004 14:59 (twenty-one years ago)

"flameproof" is pretty much the antithesis of marce...

ken c (ken c), Friday, 28 May 2004 15:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I really want to meet this Marce bloke now.

Simon (né flameproof) (Flameproof), Friday, 28 May 2004 15:05 (twenty-one years ago)

you can antithesise together!

MarkH (MarkH), Saturday, 29 May 2004 10:11 (twenty-one years ago)

two weeks pass...
just in case anyone wants to check out the photos from this evening, i forgot that i'd put them up for your viewing pleasure...

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 17 June 2004 08:39 (twenty-one years ago)

you've also forgotten to link to them ;)

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 17 June 2004 08:40 (twenty-one years ago)

http://www.dotphoto.com/Go.asp?l=a2lette&P=&AID=1545627&GID=690311&T=1

thanks, mark. how can it feel like it's already been a long day when it's only 10:56?!

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 17 June 2004 09:00 (twenty-one years ago)

out all night again eh?

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 17 June 2004 09:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Liz looks justifiably proud of her cake.

That black cat seems v. interested in stevem.

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 17 June 2004 09:12 (twenty-one years ago)

There's a an incredibly obvious joke I'm not going to make. I hope you all appreciate the superhuman restraint I'm displaying here.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 17 June 2004 09:14 (twenty-one years ago)

In one of them, Rob Bolton appears priest-like, holding the donut box.
