Okay folks, the deadline was September 1 and well, we're there. Jel is tracking his own contributions and to reconfirm on my end, here's what I've got and from who:

tugboat (aka purple patch) - columns and rows (final).mp3
Sean Carruthers - why.mp3
Michael F Gill - Dusty Cove.mp3
Mei - (Tetris) TwistCrystal OCremix.mp3
martin_mushrush-wouldve.mp3
Mark Grout - Have You Seen This Cat.mp3
Lynskey - Vonnegut's Cradle.mp3
Ken C - bicycle.mp3
Jordan C - Sloppy Beats.mp3
Canasta (Jaymc's band) - Slow Down Chicago.mp3
Jay Vee - PENGUIN.mp3
Chaki - crangalator.mp3

There is also something from Clonefeed but unless I get an actual ID or reminder who this is, it's not on. Everyone please reconfirm your titles; Jordan changed his and if anyone else feels the same way, now is the time to speak up!

Jel, I can burn this as an audio CD and shoot you off a copy as needed, e-mail me your address again.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 04:43 (twenty years ago)

clonefeed is latebloomer

my song doesn't have the "(final)" bit in the title

purple patch (electricsound), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 04:47 (twenty years ago)

Ah, thank you! I misplaced the e-mail with the info.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 04:48 (twenty years ago)

ah fooey, I want in! It's still aug 31 here in CA! too late to slip this in as a bit of "bonus noise"?
http://home.earthlink.net/~aaronhz/Boiled%20Rabbits%20(eardrum%20icepick%20mix).mp3

AaronHz (AaronHz), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 04:50 (twenty years ago)

You might still be late, punk. ;-) The problem here is that we were pushing a full CD length as is. You might have to wait until comp number 3!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 04:51 (twenty years ago)

it's only 30 seconds long! wait the link fucked up try this

AaronHz (AaronHz), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 04:53 (twenty years ago)

are you jon williams, secretly?

x j e r e m y (x Jeremy), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 05:51 (twenty years ago)

nooooooooo
but can you guys fit that in? hehehehehe

AaronHz (AaronHz), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 05:55 (twenty years ago)

I just played that very loudly, and there's a dog barking on the patio next to mine, now, Aaron.

x j e r e m y (x Jeremy), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 05:56 (twenty years ago)

success!

AaronHz (AaronHz), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 05:59 (twenty years ago)

He must have seen my cat!

Anyhow, the capitalisation looks a bit strange, but the title is true.

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 06:19 (twenty years ago)

(twelve tracks, hitting 80 mins? wheyew!)

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 06:35 (twenty years ago)

eggscellent. My title stands, but not in ALL CAPS.

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 07:04 (twenty years ago)

(godspeed all ya merry ilx compilationers y'all!)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 07:07 (twenty years ago)

Eh? Eh? What about the stuff that got sent to Jel? Where are ya, Jel?

Now I'm panicking! Argh!

(When will it be available and how do we get it, etc. etc?)

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 07:49 (twenty years ago)

is it too late to pull out? the international telepaths track is so old its hardly representative of us now. i will understand if its too much of a hassle to pull out.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 07:50 (twenty years ago)

Kate - the Jel stuff is separate. I'm pretty sure he has your thang. I guess the idea is to compile the stuff Ned has with the Jel trax.

Jel - let's see a list of what you have. I think we should call time on submissions and get it out. As i said, let me know if I can help.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 09:42 (twenty years ago)

Everything present and correct for the Lynskey song.

Gribowitz (Lynskey), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 09:57 (twenty years ago)

Ned, some typographical error seems to have been made, as I do not see Dominaktor song on final listing.

Janne Karlsson (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 10:03 (twenty years ago)

Clearly volume 3 is your answer. And Jel where are you!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 12:06 (twenty years ago)

Mei - (Tetris) TwistCrystal OCremix.mp3

AAARRGGHHH!!!

That's not what it's called, it's got nothing to do with Overclocked or twisted crystals, I just screwed up the MP3 tags.

Call it 'Glisten' or something, pleeeeeeaaaassseee?

mei (mei), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 12:08 (twenty years ago)

It is renamed.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 12:10 (twenty years ago)

I'm here!

Kate - The Lost Rivers of Clerkenwell
Sundar - Bhairavi
NA/Sarah - Another Final Goodbye
Anthony - Skycar
Me - Alone in the Robotic Future

Di, are you sure you want to drop out? I wouldn't want to lose you.

-----DEADLINE-----

Aaron, if there is space I'll see what we can do.

I'm just praying that we can fit everything on an 80 minute CD.

As to when it will be available...4-6 weeks hopefully. There will be a seperate thread for the give away, I'm not sure how many I'll get made, it's a question of cost.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 15:18 (twenty years ago)

Jel - I think you've forgotten my track. I think you have it?

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 15:20 (twenty years ago)

Dominaktor!

adam. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 15:20 (twenty years ago)

oh bloody hell! Silly me! Yep, of course I have your track Dr C - any news on the CD burning front?

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 15:23 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, our track is old too now, but it was written for the sole purpose of the comp, so that's OK.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 15:27 (twenty years ago)

If you could credit our track to "The Petrified Forest" and then put NA/Sarah McLusky in parentheses or something so people know who that is, that would be dandy.

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 15:29 (twenty years ago)

Yes, and our track is about ILX. Suck on that!

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 15:29 (twenty years ago)

haha I guess my track should be credited to "Harlem Heat" and then CeCe Peniston/Herbert Herbert/A Non-ILXor Named Will in parentheses.

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 15:37 (twenty years ago)

yeah, don't worry dudes, I'll credit to appropriate band names when I've got all the tracks together and I do the who wants this thread.

Sorry it's taken so long, last year was pretty bad and I couldn't really think about making progress on this.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 15:41 (twenty years ago)

Vonnegut's Have You Seen This Cat's Cradle

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 15:42 (twenty years ago)

don't sweat it, Jel! your efforts are much appreciated.

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 15:42 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, I just posted the band name correction because Ned said this was the place to do it. So I did it. Did it old school.

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 15:45 (twenty years ago)

Ned, is my Clonefeed song ("Zentasm") gonna be left in there? If it's too late that's ok, I'm just curious.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 16:47 (twenty years ago)

Jordan, I smell a mashup

Gribowitz (Lynskey), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 16:48 (twenty years ago)

Don't worry latebloomer, you were in on time. We just didn't know who the MP3 was from!

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 16:51 (twenty years ago)

cool. thanks!

latebloomer (latebloomer), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 16:53 (twenty years ago)

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Thursday, 2 September 2004 02:30 (twenty years ago)

Based on all the mp3s alone, it'll be a fine doozy. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 2 September 2004 02:33 (twenty years ago)

okay jel, i'll stay in.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 2 September 2004 02:34 (twenty years ago)

What about the previous volume? Can there be a method of getting both?

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 2 September 2004 06:55 (twenty years ago)

**any news on the CD burning front? **

Well I have access to a mass copying machine, but I'm still not sure if it can successfully duplicate music CDs as opposed to data CDs. Does anyone know if standard office multi-copiers can do music?

Dr. C (Dr. C), Thursday, 2 September 2004 08:33 (twenty years ago)

it probably depends on the copier.. maybe it's worth doing a test run on like just one CD or something?

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 2 September 2004 10:29 (twenty years ago)

I will

Dr. C (Dr. C), Thursday, 2 September 2004 10:42 (twenty years ago)

hey luna, thanks that would be really cool! I'll be in touch!

Any luck good doctor?

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 2 September 2004 17:05 (twenty years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 6 September 2004 16:49 (twenty years ago)

oh cool! I think it'll just about fit on an 80 minute disc.

*fingers crossed* - I may have to record a new one or two minute song, though I might just put "just a bucket of bolts" or "unexplained" on there.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 6 September 2004 17:50 (twenty years ago)

yay! IT FITS

AaronHz (AaronHz), Monday, 6 September 2004 20:20 (twenty years ago)

I've just finished up listening to the CDR burn I'll be sending to Jel of all these and while I haven't yet heard the songs Jel has, I think I can confidently say that as enjoyable as the first comp was, this one is even better. There are some flat out wonderful songs, there's an enjoyable variety -- it's going to be a treat.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 6 September 2004 22:41 (twenty years ago)

I think I will call this comp:

ILX You Are A Treat

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 18:11 (twenty years ago)

Nice one! Is the mercury prize open to compilations?

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 06:24 (twenty years ago)

Christine 'Green Leafy Dragon' Indigo (cindigo), Saturday, 18 September 2004 02:00 (twenty years ago)

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 18 October 2004 06:50 (twenty years ago)

Lynskey has recently moved house, you may want to email him asking him his new address for the posting of the CDR.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Monday, 18 October 2004 07:56 (twenty years ago)

Oh! I now recall that Ned and jel quite recently - last night? - did some quick question-answer thingy between themselves re ILX Comp II on another thread... Basically, IIRC, jel said he'd be getting to the mechanical reproduction stage any day now.

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Monday, 18 October 2004 08:12 (twenty years ago)

yes, as ever, I'm a little behind. I hope to have a bunch of CDR's by the end of the month. Sorry!

i'm assuming as much, yeah

mark p (Mark P), Friday, 29 October 2004 15:09 (twenty years ago)

That would be confusing. Would they still use unattributed quotes from ILXors I wonder?

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Friday, 29 October 2004 15:10 (twenty years ago)

afaik, the review will consist entirely of quotes culled from ilm

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Saturday, 5 February 2005 00:12 (twenty years ago)

The 18th soooo is tomorrow.

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Thursday, 17 February 2005 00:14 (twenty years ago)

Hell yeah it is.

n/a (Nick A.), Thursday, 17 February 2005 15:53 (twenty years ago)

I know, and I'm actually on course!

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 17 February 2005 15:56 (twenty years ago)

It's the fuck out of tomorrow.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 17 February 2005 15:58 (twenty years ago)

I'll tell you what - it sure as hell isn't the 16th tomorrow.

n/a (Nick A.), Thursday, 17 February 2005 15:59 (twenty years ago)

What if I accidently take my greatest power ballads mp3 collection instead?

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 17 February 2005 16:01 (twenty years ago)

That's good too.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 17 February 2005 16:04 (twenty years ago)

Oh yeah, I need a last minute confirmation of something:

who recorded Glisten?
who recorded Vonnegut's Cradle?

There seems to be a bit of a mix up going on here...

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 17 February 2005 16:23 (twenty years ago)

Hm? Upthread my friend -- Mei did "Glisten" and Lynskey did "Vonnegut's Cradle."

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 17 February 2005 16:25 (twenty years ago)

Okay, coo thanks Ned, I wouldn't want it to seem like I was sitting here making the master copy...

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 17 February 2005 16:26 (twenty years ago)

Oh no no no no, never. Heavens.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 17 February 2005 18:07 (twenty years ago)

track 12. is actually called "a woman needs a fish" by The Red Bull Dozers!

(it doens't matter though really)

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 17 February 2005 18:13 (twenty years ago)

Oh it does matter, details like this are important!

oh yeah, the CD is 79 mins and 52 seconds.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 17 February 2005 18:15 (twenty years ago)

You might want to credit our song to NA and Sarah McLusky since there are like 900 Sarahs on ILX.

n/a (Nick A.), Thursday, 17 February 2005 18:19 (twenty years ago)

But I guess then people might think McLusky recorded our song except they went all twee and American.

n/a (Nick A.), Thursday, 17 February 2005 18:19 (twenty years ago)

Hurrah for Jel! :-)

Ken C, like anyone cares about YOU. Oh wait. ;-)

N/A, is that not officially a Fake Fictions song?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 17 February 2005 18:19 (twenty years ago)

No, because I play drums on it and it's from like a year before FF's (I think we were among the first people to submit a song, so at this point I think that song's like a year and a half old). But it could also be credited to the Petrified Forest, since Sarah and I used that name at that time. But it doesn't matter much.

n/a (Nick A.), Thursday, 17 February 2005 18:22 (twenty years ago)

It was recorded like a million years before the Fake Fictions even existed! (xpost)

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 17 February 2005 18:25 (twenty years ago)

JUST because you've seen them in Chicago and all, Jaymc, you think you're the expert! Oh wait...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 17 February 2005 18:26 (twenty years ago)

A MILLION YEARS AGO, NED.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 17 February 2005 18:27 (twenty years ago)

I don't think Ben (our drummer) would want to be associated with my drumming.

n/a (Nick A.), Thursday, 17 February 2005 18:27 (twenty years ago)

Jel, once you have copies you should call a FAP to distribute them here!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 17 February 2005 19:14 (twenty years ago)

I don't think I want to be associated with my drumming.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 17 February 2005 19:18 (twenty years ago)

I do!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 17 February 2005 20:03 (twenty years ago)

Nickalish, weren't you and your drumming on this?

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 17 February 2005 20:21 (twenty years ago)

I don't think I submitted a track, because I'm lazy and stuff.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 17 February 2005 20:23 (twenty years ago)

It's at the shop. I'm going to collect the CD's on Thurday. I get things done, eventually.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Thursday, 3 March 2005 20:29 (twenty years ago)

Is it too late to contribute? ;-)

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 3 March 2005 21:06 (twenty years ago)

*chuckles heartily*

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Thursday, 3 March 2005 21:09 (twenty years ago)

Hurrah! So, Jel, how does an American contributor go about getting a copy? I'm assuming you're not in the USA (lucky you.).

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Friday, 4 March 2005 02:00 (twenty years ago)

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 4 March 2005 09:49 (twenty years ago)

- (smile), Friday, 18 March 2005 18:04 (twenty years ago)

I'd like a volume one at some point...

mark grout (mark grout), Saturday, 19 March 2005 19:01 (twenty years ago)

Excellent mark, that'd be great!!

I'll send you volume 1 as well then!

I'm totally going to send some CD's out on Monday! Summer has galzanised me. For real.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 19 March 2005 19:11 (twenty years ago)

OK, I'll make a start on a nice page for it.

ANy info on the bands/artists and their alteregos would be appreciated.

mark grout (mark grout), Saturday, 19 March 2005 19:25 (twenty years ago)

two years pass...

Well, two years later...

I just found my copy of ILXVol2, and was thinking about creating a hosting page to sit alongside ILXVol3 on my webspace.

Unless there are any objections?

Mark G, Friday, 23 November 2007 13:23 (seventeen years ago)

I actively encourage this (obv. I had nothing to do with either but I am keen to hear vol 2).

Ned Trifle II, Friday, 23 November 2007 14:11 (seventeen years ago)

I'm not on either album, but I really enjoyed ILXVol3 and would like the chance to hear ILXVol2.

snoball, Friday, 23 November 2007 14:18 (seventeen years ago)

Which reminds me: I haven't heard teh 3rd vol. either :(

t**t, Friday, 23 November 2007 14:23 (seventeen years ago)

What about Vol. 1?

Tom D., Friday, 23 November 2007 14:25 (seventeen years ago)

I'm sure it's around somewhere...

Mark G, Friday, 23 November 2007 14:29 (seventeen years ago)

Yes, I'd like to hear Vol. 1 too,

snoball, Friday, 23 November 2007 14:38 (seventeen years ago)

http://www.go-quick.com/ILXVol2.html

Go on then, give that a go.

I believe the track listing as per on this page had two tracks the wrong way round. I'm assuming the track IDs on the CD are correct, not least as Kate's name is spelled correctly on the CD Track ID there.

If not, let me know and I'll get it sorted.

GO!

http://www.go-quick.com/ILXVol2.html

Mark G, Friday, 23 November 2007 17:01 (seventeen years ago)

On this page meaning On This Thread, obv.

Mark G, Friday, 23 November 2007 17:02 (seventeen years ago)

Ta!

Tom D., Friday, 23 November 2007 17:21 (seventeen years ago)

Thanks!

snoball, Friday, 23 November 2007 18:44 (seventeen years ago)

this song i made on here is a gentle giant sample!

chaki, Friday, 23 November 2007 21:49 (seventeen years ago)

On Vol 2 the Lynskey song Vonneguts Cradle is labelled wrongly the actual Lynskey track is labelled.

Mei - (Tetris) Glisten 03:37

Jarlrmai, Friday, 23 November 2007 22:29 (seventeen years ago)

I don't know if they are just swapped but the one labelled Lynskey is NOT him and track 10 is.

Jarlrmai, Friday, 23 November 2007 22:30 (seventeen years ago)

OK, I'll swap them shortly, until then check the running lengths for confirmation which is which

Mark G, Saturday, 24 November 2007 23:42 (seventeen years ago)

As per the original cd, my track and Jordan's are switched around (Jordan's track has the live drum/vocals).

Michael F Gill, Sunday, 25 November 2007 01:58 (seventeen years ago)

righto, will sort on Monday.

Mark G, Sunday, 25 November 2007 10:34 (seventeen years ago)

.. and now I have!

Mark G, Monday, 26 November 2007 02:00 (seventeen years ago)

I've got volume 1 around if it needs to be shared (I can make a zip file to send to Mark for hosting).

Ned Raggett, Monday, 26 November 2007 02:04 (seventeen years ago)

oh great, that old bullshit is available again :/

Jordan, Monday, 26 November 2007 05:14 (seventeen years ago)

Ned, that would be excellent!

snoball, Monday, 26 November 2007 16:45 (seventeen years ago)

I suppose if Ned sent me a zip, I'd have to get on with it, wouldn't I?

Mark G, Monday, 26 November 2007 16:56 (seventeen years ago)

Will get to this tonight.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 26 November 2007 17:03 (seventeen years ago)

ten years pass...

thanks for dropping by.
