Foods specifically loved by women vs. men

I know I'm going to start my flow when I have to make a special trip to the store for dark chocolate. I've read that the chocolate thing for women is related to a need for magnesium.

Men don't seem to love yoghurt, and all the ads target women. It makes sense that women would eat more yoghurt because of the yeast thing.

I'm wondering if there are foods that men like that women don't eat. I'll have a chaw of beef jerky now and again.

Are women just more omnivorous than men?

Scott swears that beets are a female love. Are there men on ILX who love beets?

Maria D. (Maria D.), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I love yogurt. Not beets though.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:04 (twenty-one years ago)

on fear factor the women never manage to eat the intestines, and the men do it sometimes. but i don't think the men necessarily love it though.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I love yoghurt and beets if beets are like beetroot, maybe they're not, I sure as FUCK love beetroot tho, does anyone have any? I want some fuckin beetroot and some avocado and I'd be killing that fuckin salad yo

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I like dark chocolate, yogurt and beets, but not beef jerky.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Boys like to outgross each other and eat bugs and stuff, so I could imagine that men have got some practice for fear factor. BTW, do you have a UK version of fear factor, or do you watch the US one?

Maria D. (Maria D.), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I love yoghurts and like beets.

When I saw the thread title, I had a vision of women throwing yoghurt grenades at men and then beating the shit out of them with clery stick bo staffs and chickpeas to the balls.

R.I.M.A. (Barima), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm ok with beets. But I hate yogurt, and while I like chocolate, I don't usually get all crazy about it or crave it that often. But also I don't eat meat.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Avocado! That's another one Scott claims is "girly". Women can get downright crazy about avocado, smearing it on their skin and whatnot.

Maria D. (Maria D.), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:12 (twenty-one years ago)

What about Milkshakes? You hardly ever see a man ordering a milkshake.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:13 (twenty-one years ago)

there's a crappy NYC government PSA on TV about "what's in your ready pack?" (y'know, in case there's another terror attack) in which a really large Asian woman says "beef jerky." Gross.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:14 (twenty-one years ago)

are you kidding jocelyn?!!? Dudes LOVE milkshakes!

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:14 (twenty-one years ago)

What? i love milkshakes , then again i hate sports

kephm (kephm), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:14 (twenty-one years ago)

A friend of mine once had a theory about more women than men liking spinach. It involved menstruation.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm glad I was wrong! More milkshake love for all.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Women always seem to love puddings more than men, but I have a feeling that the male contigent of ILX would disagree!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I love spinach too!

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm a fat fuck

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I LOVE avocado.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:19 (twenty-one years ago)

If you go to a restaurant, a woman will look at the menu for a while, and then pick something. A guy will look at the menu for a while, and then pick steak.

[/generalisation]

Johnney B (Johnney B), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Beets - yuck
Milkshake - yum
Yoghurt - meh
Avocado - yum
Dark chocolate - better than tacky milk or gross white

Real men don't eat quiche. So I hear.

dog latin (dog latin), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh man I want some quiche

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I absolutely adore quiche, although, maybe it's just the pastry!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:20 (twenty-one years ago)

A friend of mine once had a theory about more women than men liking spinach. It involved menstruation.

In my third year uni home, it involved chickpeas.

R.I.M.A. (Barima), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:22 (twenty-one years ago)

we get the US Fear Factor here, although i turned on the TV the other day and I was shocked to see "UK Fear Factor"! So it now exists!

But it's kinda different - it works in a team format (group of 3 each) and the teams bank money on each round and whoever ends up with the most money takes the money (the other team gets nothing). The show I watched had this scottish guy who was really annoyed with himself cos their team were winning all along but he sliped and lost his team all the money, he was shouting in anger whilst hanging on a safety rope. It was kind of touching.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm so hungry now.
What about sausages? My ex loved them. I hate 'em, but that's because I don't eat organ meats and I found the texture offputting.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:22 (twenty-one years ago)

they still have the same catch phrases though like "Team blah blah, fear is obviously not a factor for you" etc.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I love sausages although sadly no more meat ones for me, just veggie!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I love Yorkie bars.

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Why "sadly," Pink?

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:28 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm not a huge fan of sausages. i do sometimes actually need to have chocolate but i'm not a fan of sweeties.

there's the famous theory that men prefer chocolate bars and girls prefer smaller chocolates like minstrels and revels.

dog latin (dog latin), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:28 (twenty-one years ago)

that theory's rubbish - most of my girlfriends who have been chocolate fiends prefer bars!

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I love chocolate, avocado and sweeties. In fact, I'm perfectly adaptable when it comes to food but I draw the line at rhubarb.

R.I.M.A. (Barima), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:31 (twenty-one years ago)

some rhubarb dishes are fantastic tho!

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish they had chocolate bars where you could sidle up and order a tall one.

Maria D. (Maria D.), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Why "sadly," Pink?
I just miss sausages that is all, but I am happy with the veggie ones!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:34 (twenty-one years ago)

TS: vegetarianism = deprivation.

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:41 (twenty-one years ago)

where's the other side?

ken c (ken c), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Duh, of course vegetarianism is deprivation by definition.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

But it's deprivation with a purpose.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

god, i feel like such a raving food sexist now. But i am more than a little tongue in cheek when i rave to maria. (for the record i don't care for tongue or cheek.) avocados may be a bit, um, comforting for women though, no? here's what i wrote on the beetroot thread:

I know lots more women who loooooove beets than men. Make of this what you will. But perhaps it is cuz a beet resembles a blood-red
moon and tastes like elemental soil and all women are wiccans at heart. Just a guess. My best friend maggie even has a tattoo of a beet on her
arm! And my beloved bride maria loves them so much that it scares me a little. But, um, my data is based on 4 or 5 women I have known
who love them to death and 2 or 3 men who don't.(including me.) I would need further funding to extrapolate further.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost from the other room

I went for a couple of years without meat (except once a year I'd eat turkey on Thanksgiving -- turkey we got from a farm and defeathered and everything ourselves). There was this place I used to pass by where they'd roast chickens. The smell used to disgust me. Then one day it started smelling soooo goood to me and I realised I was really craving chicken fat. I went ahead and quenched my greasy desire. Later I read that the skin and fat of chickens have certain substances that women, in particular, need.

Maria D. (Maria D.), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

You forget that maggie's brother has a matching beet tattoo. But maybe he doesn't count.

Maria D. (Maria D.), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I love meats of all sorts, but I don't really like steak. WTF?

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:56 (twenty-one years ago)

beets are really good in salads.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 3 September 2004 13:57 (twenty-one years ago)

UK Fear Factor's been around for years on Sky.

My wife LOVES beetroot which I think is the same as beets. And yoghurt. And chocolate.

I like yoghurt and chocolate but hate beetroot. But I really like spinach.

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Maria you forgot cottage cheese. I don't think I've ever seen a man eat cottage cheese. Maybe I don't hang out in the right circles.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:02 (twenty-one years ago)

You call them beetroot! We call them beets! I didn't know that.

Maria D. (Maria D.), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:04 (twenty-one years ago)

i eat everything listed on this thread.

squash is something i've noticed more of a female predilection for.

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:05 (twenty-one years ago)

http://images.google.com/images?q=tbn:ABhg1EcC_24J:suzanneh.com/1/picture_dictionary_food/beet.jpg

Maria D. (Maria D.), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I eat cottage cheese all the time!

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:06 (twenty-one years ago)

So maybe Scott's theories are ALL WRONG. I should take our silly quarrels here more often.

Maria D. (Maria D.), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:07 (twenty-one years ago)

hstencil, i have never once seen you eat cottage cheese!

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

dude you have never once seen me, so that kinda foils your argument.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:09 (twenty-one years ago)

how do i know you aren't a lady?

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:10 (twenty-one years ago)

dude.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:10 (twenty-one years ago)

sweet!

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah see I call that BEETROOT and it's the shit

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I like beets, avocado and squash, mildly like spinach, chickpeas, cottage cheese and yogurt (unless plain low-fat), and am not averse to quiche, though none of these are favorites. I love red meat but no longer eat it unless I know the middle name of my cow. I don't eat sausages. I have never eaten and will never eat beef jerky.

Another favored by wimmin - eggplant (yes to middle eastern and indian, no otherwise)

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't eat eggplant, I'm allergic to it.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

south east asian eat aubergines too.. men and wimmen - there's a dish with aubergine AND tofu in it!! omg! must be girl food! but then it also contains meat and a million tonnes of chilli. MEN CENTRAL!

ken c (ken c), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:24 (twenty-one years ago)

i love eggplant, i eat it at least 2x a week.

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:27 (twenty-one years ago)

mmm, i like to bread eggplant, pop it in the oven and then pour red sauce on top when it's done. all on a toasted roll. with peppers. and carmelized onions.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:32 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost from the other room

Do you guys really post to ILX from different computers in the same house??

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

um, yeah.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:34 (twenty-one years ago)

if you have more than one computer why would you make a point of posting from only one??

ken c (ken c), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:35 (twenty-one years ago)

plus, we have different thread tastes.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:36 (twenty-one years ago)

oh right i see what you mean now.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, we do (post from 2 computers in the same house).

Scott, let's have that for dinner.

I'm "working" in this room while Scott watches the baby in the other. But I'm about to move into an office space out of the house.

Maria D. (Maria D.), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:36 (twenty-one years ago)

i send im to my flatmate all the time when he's just at the living room.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:36 (twenty-one years ago)

The first thing I thought of when I read the thread title was chocolate, which sure I like, but a lot of women I know CRAVE.

I love quiche, btw. I don't even like eggs (hate omelettes, even) but quiche is awesome.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:38 (twenty-one years ago)

"quiche" is also fun to say.

Maria D. (Maria D.), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:39 (twenty-one years ago)

How about white wine. Any men out there LURV white wine teh way some women do?

Maria D. (Maria D.), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I got food-poisoning from a quiche on new year's eve once. i was very sad and all alone.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, I think chocolate might be the closest thing to an answer to this thread.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I like white wine about as much as I like red wine, which is not very much (only a very occasional wine drinker).

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:40 (twenty-one years ago)

We still haven't come up with anything that women won't eat but men do, except intestines on game shows.

Maria D. (Maria D.), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:41 (twenty-one years ago)

my stepdad drinks white wine. I will occasionally if somebody else orders it, but I don't buy it myself.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 3 September 2004 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I like white wine more than red wine because red wine drinking correlates strongly with me becoming a surly/obnoxious/depressed/generally twattish drunk. But I rarely drink either these days. My wife doesn't really drink anything much, she far prefers the pot.

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:03 (twenty-one years ago)

do girls eat pork scratchings?

ken c (ken c), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

i like all these female foods, but some like avocado and beets and cottage cheese i dont quite get. I mean, i enjoy them, but not the way some women are crazy about them.

what in the world is wrong with beef jerky? would you settle for jerky chew (ground up jerky that comes in a little plastic container made to look like chewing tobacco)?

AaronK (AaronK), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:09 (twenty-one years ago)

um, yeah.

I love the embarassed way you say this, like you're one step away from admitting to cybersex.

R.I.M.A. (Barima), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Ken, I've known a couple of girls who do. More'n me even.

R.I.M.A. (Barima), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:11 (twenty-one years ago)

1) Scott, all men love cottage cheese. Because it is the bomb. I must assume you are a dairy product girlie-man.

2) I can't believe no one brought up how Kelis's milkshake brings all the boys to the yard.

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Cottage cheese is NASTY.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:13 (twenty-one years ago)

miccio loves his cottage related things.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I love the embarassed way you say this, like you're one step away from admitting to cybersex.

I thought the "um, yeah." was as in "um, yeah, obv."

ken c (ken c), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

"um, yeah, obv we are also on a 'certain website'"

R.I.M.A. (Barima), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:23 (twenty-one years ago)

there's a couple types of vegetarian beef jerky that are pretty great. i'll eat the shit out of that.
i also love cheese doodles...are doodles a gender food?

kelsey (kelstarry), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:24 (twenty-one years ago)

doodles are phallic but their not a gender food

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:26 (twenty-one years ago)

misspelling "they're" is a guy thing though

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:26 (twenty-one years ago)

The thing about beetroot is that it just doesn't look right.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:29 (twenty-one years ago)

We in Britain/Ghana don't get beef jerky, but I did last have some 7 years ago. ILXors can start sending me beef jerky instead of CDs from now on :).

R.I.M.A. (Barima), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Women like Almond Joy, men like Mounds.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Women like hoagies, men like grinders.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Women like yams, men like sweet potatoes.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

That last one's wrong.

R.I.M.A. (Barima), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:33 (twenty-one years ago)

What about kale?

kelsey (kelstarry), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

nick are you saying that only women sometimes feel like a nut?

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I remember Barry having some sort of beef jerky type substance at a fap...I could be wrong, it might have been something else.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Or cheese? Do women just crave dairy more often than men?

kelsey (kelstarry), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

plus prince once referred to stripping your dress like he was stripping a peter paul's almond joy. and prince is all man.

CHEESE IS FOR MAN.

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Cottage cheese is NASTY.

Dude's right.

Also: I used to like yogurt but I seriously haven't bought in like two years. I don't know why: I think I just lost interest in it. It seems kinda weird to me now.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

(Regular cheese is awesome, though.)

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I loved yogurt as a wee lad but haven't had it in ages.

I am surrounded by dairy product girlie-men.

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

CHEESE IS FOR THE PEOPLE!

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I assume you are all wearing your ladyfriend's underwear. and not for comfort.

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Cottage cheese is horrible, all lumpy and sour, yuck.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

wimp.

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Diet soda? Do more women drink this shit?

kelsey (kelstarry), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:39 (twenty-one years ago)

yes.

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Kels, I'm never sure what you mean when you say you crave dairy. If I crave cheese, it's more of a craving for the TASTE -- a salty/umami craving -- than a craving for the range of dairy foods that encompass milk, yogurt, ice cream, etc., all with different tastes.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Stop being such a gastropornographic girly man, yo.

R.I.M.A. (Barima), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

"MANTHONY," explain me exactly what is so macho about cottage cheese? It is the least macho cheese of all, all flabby and bland and indecisive. GET YER PRIORITIES STRAIGHT, SON.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

ARE YOU MAN ENOUGH FOR COTTAGE CHEESE????? GULP! GULP! GULP! GULP!

http://www.chrisandjimonline.com/Pics/TastTestPics/05TTCottageCheese.jpg

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:44 (twenty-one years ago)

NA OTM!

The word COTTAGE is not very manly in the first place, it conjours images of old ladies and table cloths.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Cottage cheese is something you eat when you're sad and lonely and miss your mommy.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:45 (twenty-one years ago)

If you type cottage cheese into google pics all the women are half-naked and the men are all like "aw yeah." nuff said.

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Kale is nasty. (But I think a lot of my wimmin friends like it.)

Maria D. (Maria D.), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:46 (twenty-one years ago)

and that photo is also kinda gay

ken c (ken c), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:47 (twenty-one years ago)

macho is gay, duh

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:48 (twenty-one years ago)

If you type cottage cheese into google pics all the women are half-naked and the men are all like "aw yeah." nuff said.

All I got was tubs of CC and a weight-lifter.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:48 (twenty-one years ago)

you're confusing being gay with being macho

ken c (ken c), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:49 (twenty-one years ago)

that photo makes me nauseous

Maria D. (Maria D.), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Didn't you know "Manthony" was a Village Person, Ken? He was the sailor.

R.I.M.A. (Barima), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:50 (twenty-one years ago)

cottage cheese sounds as though it's cheese obtained through cottaging.

I feel like a substandard female because I don't orgasm over chocolate; there are a number of ads on TV here which suggest things like, given 3 wishes women would ask for eternal tim tams and ignore the other wishes. The magazines have jumped on the bandwagon and now eating a pack of tim tams is what you are supposed to do if you are a woman and need to talk (cheer up a dumped) friend.

This is so pervasive that the university run Women's week featured as first event, chocolate eating, followed by a screening of Chocolat woo hoo johnny Depp. Later on in the week Pilates to burn off the chocolate. No wonder it co-incided with Cadbury's chocolate week.

On a lighter note the budget rip off brand calls it's nasty Tim Tams "Choc Tammys" hahahaha

Menelaus Darcy (Menelaus Darcy), Friday, 3 September 2004 15:58 (twenty-one years ago)

i love tim tams. i wish you could get them in the us.

kelsey (kelstarry), Friday, 3 September 2004 16:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Lentils.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 3 September 2004 16:03 (twenty-one years ago)

what be tim tams?

Maria D. (Maria D.), Friday, 3 September 2004 16:05 (twenty-one years ago)

ken c (ken c), Friday, 3 September 2004 16:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Menelaus Darcy (Menelaus Darcy), Friday, 3 September 2004 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

tim tams are lovely little chocolate biscuits with chocolate filling & coated in chocolate...and they don't taste overly chocolate (to me). i like chocolate enough, but usually the darker the better & there is just something about those tim tams...

kelsey (kelstarry), Friday, 3 September 2004 16:08 (twenty-one years ago)

i think the association between women and cottage cheese is just a dieting thing. same with yogurt. and they are marketed to women. men don't diet as much. or if they do, it means eating 4 slices of pizza instead of 6.

i love cheese and chocolate. and chocolate cheesecake! but cherry cheesecake is my favorite.

do men like sour things more? I love lemons! I can eat them whole. and sour grapes, mmmm.

and i always thought the chocolate/period thing was kinda like needing insulin or something.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 3 September 2004 16:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Cottage cheese is gross, says woman.

Chocolate contains endorphin triggers or summat but FACT miso, spinach, seaweed and sushi have a range of B vitamins that combat PMT. If I'm feeling the hot reds I just take myself out for a spicy tuna hand roll, some miso and some spinach or seaweed salad.

suzy (suzy), Friday, 3 September 2004 18:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Lentils.

I love lentils. With bulghur, especially. ;-)

so who's winning here - food or men?

I've never known a girl to accept one of my tasty pork scratchings.

No, that is not an innuendo.

Wooden (Wooden), Saturday, 4 September 2004 15:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Are pork scratchings what we call pork rinds? If so, ewww.

Mmmmm! Soft pig fat encased in a hard pig fat crust.

Don't women want dairy more to reduce the risk of osteoporosis?

Nellie (nellskies), Saturday, 4 September 2004 22:50 (twenty-one years ago)

When it comes to fish, women respond to bass.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 4 September 2004 22:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry.

All icecream ads are aimed at women who want to sin.

The ultimate in female-only cheeses is ricotta.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 4 September 2004 23:10 (twenty-one years ago)

The ultimate in female-only cheeses is ricotta.

FUCK YOU.

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 4 September 2004 23:23 (twenty-one years ago)

It's true Miccio. Scientific studies show that a man's sperm count goes down when he even says the word 'ricotta' and he begins to develop breasts, rapidly becoming a ladyboy.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 4 September 2004 23:29 (twenty-one years ago)

OMG you're right! NOOOOOO!!!!!!!

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 4 September 2004 23:33 (twenty-one years ago)

it's too late for me I guess. I've actually ordered that stuff on my pizza before.

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 4 September 2004 23:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Ricotta is awesome on pizza.
And are you going to tell me that lasagna is a girly dish?

oops (Oops), Saturday, 4 September 2004 23:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Does it have eggplant in it?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 4 September 2004 23:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Ew no.

oops (Oops), Saturday, 4 September 2004 23:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Well without eggplant, the pasta provides a certain amount of male stogy scoff value, so I'm comfortable saying it's a sexually well balanced meal. As opposed to, say, ricotta lightly spread on crackers or thinly sliced sourdough bread with avocado and lemon, and mayne a very small amount of smoked salmon or caviar, plus a glass of white wine. That is like totally girly.

Oysters are of course female food. Women be shucking!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 5 September 2004 00:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I've never seen a guy who likes caviar, or even salmon roe (w/ champagne it's a guilty (female?) pleasure).

Orbit (Orbit), Sunday, 5 September 2004 01:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Women like seafood. It's a throwback to their past, when they were all mermaids.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 5 September 2004 01:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I have a compelling urge for sea bass. Now I know where it comes from.

Orbit (Orbit), Sunday, 5 September 2004 01:27 (twenty-one years ago)

The sea?

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Sunday, 5 September 2004 01:40 (twenty-one years ago)

hahahahaha

Mi madre's Tim Allen-style "men are different than women" observation:
Men like blue cheese dressing, women do not.

Sunflower seeds (in shell) seem to be men-preffered food as well.

Abbitt, Sunday, 5 September 2004 04:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think I've met a woman who dislikes cheesecake, a dish I personally find revolting.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Sunday, 5 September 2004 05:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I like caviar and salmon roe and ricotta. I do admit that oysters are more of an 'appreciate' than 'like' food for me.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Sunday, 5 September 2004 05:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Oysters make me upchuck.

Maria D. (Maria D.), Sunday, 5 September 2004 13:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Mainly for the chixors - all tomato based drinks - tomato juice, Clamato, V8 (vegetable cocktail), Bloody Marys, Ceasars.

Girls don't eat Vienna Sausages.
