I'm bored today. Should I:

1) list stuff on Amazon
2) walk down to Barnes & Noble and read the Sunday Times
3) find a movie to watch on TV
4) finish working on the mix CDs I owe people
5) vacuum

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 12 September 2004 17:02 (twenty-one years ago)

6) keep reading Word Freak

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 12 September 2004 17:02 (twenty-one years ago)

How about all at the same time?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 12 September 2004 17:25 (twenty-one years ago)

vacuum while walking to Barnes & Noble?

Rockist_Scientist (rockist_scientist), Sunday, 12 September 2004 17:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry JBR, but I came here to make important life decisions for people, and these are not sufficiently important. Obviously if I were among the people referenced in 4, I'd know what to say.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 12 September 2004 18:00 (twenty-one years ago)

2) or 4)

s1ocki (slutsky), Sunday, 12 September 2004 18:06 (twenty-one years ago)

2!

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 12 September 2004 18:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm going to drink more coffee and ponder this.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 12 September 2004 18:23 (twenty-one years ago)

What high school should I go to?

Tell me NOW!

Aja (aja), Sunday, 12 September 2004 18:25 (twenty-one years ago)

what are your options?

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 12 September 2004 18:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Ones in SF

Aja (aja), Sunday, 12 September 2004 18:27 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't know any high schools in SF! link me to some.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 12 September 2004 18:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll just list.

ICA (all girls)
Sacred Heart
St. Ignatious (is that spelled right?)(don't want to go there anyway)
Anything public

Aja (aja), Sunday, 12 September 2004 18:32 (twenty-one years ago)

oh yeah.

Lowel

Aja (aja), Sunday, 12 September 2004 18:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Sacred Heart has the best logo:

http://www.sacred.sf.ca.us/images/SFon.gif

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 12 September 2004 18:44 (twenty-one years ago)

That is so cool! I must go!

At ICA, I think your class gets to pick your own logo.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 12 September 2004 18:46 (twenty-one years ago)

that didn't work...

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 12 September 2004 18:47 (twenty-one years ago)

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 12 September 2004 18:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Interesting

Aja (aja), Sunday, 12 September 2004 18:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Should I sleep with him again?

doc, Sunday, 12 September 2004 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

tell us his name, then we can decide

Aja (aja), Sunday, 12 September 2004 19:21 (twenty-one years ago)

should I get an expensive winter coat, or repair the zip on my old one?

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 12 September 2004 19:26 (twenty-one years ago)

what does the old one look like?

Aja (aja), Sunday, 12 September 2004 19:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Should I sleep with him again?

how was he the first time?

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 12 September 2004 19:31 (twenty-one years ago)

names A, and rough and loveless (but mutual)

doc, Sunday, 12 September 2004 19:33 (twenty-one years ago)

the old one is black and slightly worn, it's a parka.

the new one is expensive but cool, and new, it's also a parka but sort of different.

I did make 500 euro or so today. so MAYBE.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 12 September 2004 19:35 (twenty-one years ago)

What color is the new one?

Aja (aja), Sunday, 12 September 2004 19:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Ronan, if you want the new one, then buy it and get the zip repaired on the old one so that you have a choice! I haven't had a winter coat choise for years and years :(

Markelby (Mark C), Sunday, 12 September 2004 19:36 (twenty-one years ago)

the new one comes in a sort of gun metal colour or brown or green.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 12 September 2004 19:38 (twenty-one years ago)

get the gun metal color.

What color is your hair. It might not look good with red or blond. I think

Aja (aja), Sunday, 12 September 2004 19:39 (twenty-one years ago)

should I play violin or guitar?

Aja (aja), Sunday, 12 September 2004 19:45 (twenty-one years ago)

guitar.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 12 September 2004 19:55 (twenty-one years ago)

FINE!!

Aja (aja), Sunday, 12 September 2004 19:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Play both at once!

caitlin (caitlin), Sunday, 12 September 2004 19:57 (twenty-one years ago)

what if I play violin like guitar?

Aja (aja), Sunday, 12 September 2004 19:58 (twenty-one years ago)

What kind of new desktop computer should I get? I need to be able to run a lot of programs at once. I can't use a Mac. I want a small tower with a flat screen and I need a company that offers financing.

Maria D. (Maria D.), Sunday, 12 September 2004 20:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Only if you can also get your guitar under your chin

(xpost)

caitlin (caitlin), Sunday, 12 September 2004 20:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I've played guitar with a bow. Weird. Great with distortion!

Aja (aja), Sunday, 12 September 2004 20:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Should I listen to David Bowie or the Dead Kennedys?

Aja (aja), Sunday, 12 September 2004 20:52 (twenty-one years ago)

neither, Daft Punk.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 12 September 2004 20:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't have that

Aja (aja), Sunday, 12 September 2004 20:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Part of being a teenager is that you DON'T ask adults for advice about what to do. Go out there and learn from your mistakes!

Markelby (Mark C), Sunday, 12 September 2004 20:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I have. I need to ask for help.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 12 September 2004 20:54 (twenty-one years ago)

What if I listen to Kinski?

Aja (aja), Sunday, 12 September 2004 20:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Just be gentle with the warm turtle, that's all I ask.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Sunday, 12 September 2004 21:42 (twenty-one years ago)

What?

No, really.

What are you talking about?

Aja (aja), Sunday, 12 September 2004 21:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Should I:

a) Get a crappy local admin job till I pay back my student overdraft?

b) Try and try and try and get a higher-paid job in London that may lead to bigger and better things?

c) Risk moving to Brighton like everyone else I know who seems to be doing it and trying to make my way there?

I think I may go for option C although the other two ideas seem quite attractive and perhaps more sensible. Anyone know any good job agencies in the Brighton area?

dog latin (dog latin), Sunday, 12 September 2004 21:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Aja, I quoted the title of Kinski's first album to you. That's an endorsement, now go listen.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Sunday, 12 September 2004 22:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, I only have their latest.

I love "Semaphore"

They're great live.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 12 September 2004 22:02 (twenty-one years ago)

dear ilx,

when should i take the gre's?

love,

amateurist

amateur!!!st (amateurist), Sunday, 12 September 2004 22:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Aja, have fun!

DL, if it makes more finacial sense, do c first, then b. Good luck, buddy.

Am - when you're ready for that jelly...never, probably ;-).

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Sunday, 12 September 2004 22:13 (twenty-one years ago)

aja: you should listen to david bowie.

amateurist: when yer ready ... and if you don't take the LSATs.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 13 September 2004 02:16 (twenty-one years ago)

dear ilx

should i over spend my budget and buy yarn to make this?

http://www.patonsyarns.com/data/patternbook/thumbnail/thumb_500995.jpg

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Monday, 13 September 2004 03:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I would spend over my budget to make it with that, if that's what you're asking.

x j e r e m y (x Jeremy), Monday, 13 September 2004 03:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Should I give up music? And if so, what should I do instead?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 13 September 2004 03:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes. Punanimation.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 13 September 2004 03:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Here's an actual life decision I need help with. Looks like I'll be getting another inheritance. (WTF, inheritances? I feel really quite conflicted about the whole idea.)

Should I

1) buy a house or something?
2) move back to Hoxton and spend another couple of years drinking, taking drugs and acting like a brat?

Answers on a postcard, please. Sigh. This is weird and makes me feel vaguely dirty and I don't want to deal with it.

Danger Whore, over and out (kate), Monday, 13 September 2004 07:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Vacuum

jel -- (jel), Monday, 13 September 2004 15:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey ILX, if I have an unexpected two weeks off coming up here, where should I go?

1) San Francisco
2) Chicago
3) New York City
4) London

Hmm?

Towelette Pettatucci (Homosexual II), Monday, 13 September 2004 15:57 (twenty-one years ago)

the obvious correct answer is chicago

todd swiss (eliti), Monday, 13 September 2004 16:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Come to London, Mandee! (If you need a place to stay, I have space.)

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 13 September 2004 16:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Okay, seriously...

Should I leave family and friends and comfort in Iowa (admittedly a career graveyard and sexual dead-end) to seek greener pastures in the Rubber City of Akron?

briania (briania), Monday, 13 September 2004 16:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't leave Iowa.

Towelette Pettatucci (Homosexual II), Monday, 13 September 2004 16:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Should I leave university? I don't know if I want to be doing what I'm doing here and I'm tired of social situations.

Secondary: How should I defend my isolated cabin in the mountains/woods?

chrisco (chrisco), Monday, 13 September 2004 17:07 (twenty-one years ago)

But if I moved to Akron I could post to ILX as Brianiak!

briania (briania), Monday, 13 September 2004 17:09 (twenty-one years ago)

You can post as Brianiak anyway, sug.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 13 September 2004 17:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Done. And chrisco, your best bet might be posted signs, secure locks, and networking with neighbors and local law enforcement. Resist the temptation to booby-trap the joint.

brianiak (briania), Monday, 13 September 2004 17:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Secondary: How should I defend my isolated cabin in the mountains/woods?

assault weapons ban ends today.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 13 September 2004 17:20 (twenty-one years ago)

mandee: go to australia!
briania: leave iowa but do not go to akron.
chrisco: no/rifle for bears, shotgun for the rest

mookieproof (mookieproof), Monday, 13 September 2004 17:21 (twenty-one years ago)

xxpost "neighbors"

chrisco (chrisco), Monday, 13 September 2004 17:21 (twenty-one years ago)

chrisco, how much school do you have left?

n/a (Nick A.), Monday, 13 September 2004 17:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Secondary: How should I defend my isolated cabin in the mountains/woods?

pee shooter, that mountain air will give you good puff.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 13 September 2004 17:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I hope to god you meant "pea shooter."

n/a (Nick A.), Monday, 13 September 2004 17:36 (twenty-one years ago)

opps I mean pea! Pee brings out all sorts of connotations.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 13 September 2004 17:36 (twenty-one years ago)

dual weapon: pea/pee shooter

jel -- (jel), Monday, 13 September 2004 17:36 (twenty-one years ago)

The deadliest weapon: peas filled with pee.

n/a (Nick A.), Monday, 13 September 2004 17:37 (twenty-one years ago)

chrisco, how much school do you have left?

3 years. I may have just started last week. Plenty of time to fashion firearms out of useless school supplies.

chrisco (chrisco), Monday, 13 September 2004 18:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Tickets to Australia are too pricey for this bitch.

Towelette Pettatucci (Homosexual II), Monday, 13 September 2004 18:42 (twenty-one years ago)

okay. london, then. be careful, though--the beer is kinda warm there

mookieproof (mookieproof), Monday, 13 September 2004 18:45 (twenty-one years ago)

If you come to Chicago we will all chip in and buy you a bag of pretzel sticks.

n/a (Nick A.), Monday, 13 September 2004 18:50 (twenty-one years ago)

n/a (Nick A.), Monday, 13 September 2004 18:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Mandee, weren't you supposed to come to Chicago at some point and cancelled at the last minute? If so, you owe us a visit! If not, you still owe us a visit!

Kate, Buy a house OR just rent somewhere a bit nicer and/OR start a savings account if you don't have one and/OR travel

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 13 September 2004 18:54 (twenty-one years ago)

mandee-- come to london! we can do another girl fap or whatever.

kate-- can you buy a flat in hoxton and get a flatmate that'll pay you rent which equals booze money?

my question-- should i meet up with a very major ex that has just appeared in london? he just rang and wanted to know what i'm doing this week. eek.

colette (a2lette), Monday, 13 September 2004 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Of course, colette! If nothing else than to satisfy your curiousity.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 13 September 2004 19:24 (twenty-one years ago)

some curiosities are much better left unsatisfied.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 13 September 2004 19:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Colette -- hmm.. an ex? My vote is for stay away.

If you come to Chicago we will all chip in and buy you a bag of pretzel sticks.

You should work for Chicago's tourism bureau. I think the latter sayings should be plastered all over their website.

PRETZEL STICKS!! MAKE OUT WITH AMATEURIST!!

Towelette Pettatucci (Homosexual II), Monday, 13 September 2004 19:33 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, i can't decide if it's a bad idea. the last time i ran into him (in the rainbo-- that was MY turf! he hated it there when we were dating!) i felt like i was punched in the stomach.

but he's only here for a while, and hopefully isn't going to move here, so maybe it wouldn't be so bad. hmmm. there's certainly the curiosity thing.

mandee, i'm sure we could get someone to make out with you here!

colette (a2lette), Monday, 13 September 2004 19:49 (twenty-one years ago)

How long ago did you and mister ex break up? If it's been more than 2 years, totally... get together with him.

Towelette Pettatucci (Homosexual II), Monday, 13 September 2004 19:53 (twenty-one years ago)

i felt like i was punched in the stomach

this is a feeling worth repeating?

mookieproof (mookieproof), Monday, 13 September 2004 19:55 (twenty-one years ago)

we broke up about a month before i moved here, so just about 3 years ago. he sent me an email saying 'i just broke up with my girlfriend and might move to london!'

i mean, i'm over it and everything, and have been through way more emotional crap since. but he was the first person that i was that into.

i should probably just give it a shot. (not in a pulling sense. i think that would be wrong. and i think he's a total wanker. but kind of cute. argh!

xpost- this is a feeling worth repeating?

not sure. it was interesting to feel that emotional response to a person.

colette (a2lette), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I think that's enough time passed to check in with him again.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:07 (twenty-one years ago)

i have a sense of foreboding.

mookieproof (mookieproof), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Colette, why don't you just look to the future instead? Do you really want the inevitable heartbreak, confusion and complication?

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:13 (twenty-one years ago)

ILXORS - WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH MY LIFE?

n/a (Nick A.), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:14 (twenty-one years ago)

mookieproof (mookieproof), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:15 (twenty-one years ago)

OK.

n/a (Nick A.), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:15 (twenty-one years ago)

he sent me an email saying 'i just broke up with my girlfriend and might move to london!'

this seems a little suspicious to me.

also, life advice needed, please.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Get a haircut.

n/a (Nick A.), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:16 (twenty-one years ago)

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:17 (twenty-one years ago)

manage the mets.

mookieproof (mookieproof), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm here if anyone needs an e-shoulder to cry on. Once again.

Towelette Pettatucci (Homosexual II), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:20 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost to mookieproof - but what if I want to see the hilariousness that will ensue should the Mets hire Larry Bowa next year?

oh Mandee you just IM and run.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:21 (twenty-one years ago)

he sent me an email saying 'i just broke up with my girlfriend and might move to london!'

DANGER! DANGER!

seriously, big yikes.

mandee, visit london. we can get our nails done at my friend's salon!

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:23 (twenty-one years ago)

he sent me an email saying 'i just broke up with my girlfriend and might move to london!'

yeah, the joining of these two phrases in one sentence might loosely translate to 'i still love you and please can we fornicate like crazed weasels'.

mookieproof (mookieproof), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:23 (twenty-one years ago)

See, Stence.. once I get on AIM I wish I were still on the sofa, and I get restless at the computer, so I end up wandering back to the sofa and forgetting that I am still on AIM. Solution: I need a laptop, obviously.

Towelette Pettatucci (Homosexual II), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah I've got a laptop, it's the solution to all my problems.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I am using a laptop on a couch right now. It's sweeeeeet. Though I have a hard time doing something else once I reach this state.

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Surely it means "I fancy a fuck and I'm too lazy to look further afield and too much of a thoughtless dick to think about your feelings"?

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:27 (twenty-one years ago)

umm, x-post?

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I mean yeah I fancy a fuck and I'm too lazy to look further afield than my couch but I'm not hurting anybody's feelings. If someone's offending please let me know and I'll go fuck them.

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:29 (twenty-one years ago)

offended.

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha nice save!

"The guy over here is really offending me; Anthony, go fuck him."

Dan Perry '08 (Dan Perry), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I have more than once dry humped guys bothering friends of mine who didn't appreciate being aggressively hit on (I'm surprised none have ever kicked my ass). So there is precedent.

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:33 (twenty-one years ago)

fancy a fuck and I'm too lazy to look further afield and too much of a thoughtless dick to think about your feelings

ha, if that was aimed at me, surely going from the US to london is pretty far for a thoughtless fuck?

i'm not planning on sleeping with him (or kissing him or anything) if i see him. at all. the blinders of romance were removed pretty quickly.

my biggest change in my life really? i have broadband and cable now! i never need to leave my house!

colette (a2lette), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I think the people advising caution are right, Colette. Don't do this if you can imagine any way he can hurt you.

Mandee, you will have zero trouble finding people to make out with you anywhere you go, in the unlikely event that that is the purpose of your jaunt!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 13 September 2004 21:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, it's not the purpose of my jaunt. Eating and shopping are my priorities. Oh, and maybe getting drunk.

Towelette Pettatucci (Homosexual II), Monday, 13 September 2004 21:53 (twenty-one years ago)

surely going from the US to london is pretty far for a thoughtless fuck?

haha, not too far!

(do not call me shirley)

hstencil, get a haircut.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 19 September 2004 17:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Shave it all off.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 19 September 2004 17:25 (twenty-one years ago)

My flatmate's split up with her long term boyfriend almost 2 years ago. Since then, some of his clothes and shoes have been sitting in my wardrobe. The other day, I finally took them out and asked her about them. She had no idea they were still there and I asked if she wanted to get in touch with him to see if he wanted to pick them up. She went 'pfff' and said she'd tried to get in touch with him a while ago about something else of his and he'd not returned her call, so no, she'd take them to the charity shop.

Thing is, there's a nice pair of Campers that fit me perfectly. Would it be insensitive to ask if I can wear her ex-boyfriend's shoes?

adam. (nordicskilla), Sunday, 19 September 2004 18:10 (twenty-one years ago)

q: if it's jacket weather, is it also scarf weather?

jones (actual), Sunday, 19 September 2004 18:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I love John Waters

Aja (aja), Sunday, 19 September 2004 18:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I am all in favour of people moving from California to London.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 19 September 2004 20:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Should I move to NYC or LA (or west coast in general)?

Also, should I keep trying to look for jobs there without a college degree (this is hard) so that I can concentrate on my band?

Richard K (Richard K), Sunday, 19 September 2004 21:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Alba: ask her if you can have the shoes and to sweeten the deal, tell her she can stomp on one or both of your feet everytime you wear them, in memory of the ex.

rainy (rainy), Sunday, 19 September 2004 21:31 (twenty-one years ago)

That seems an elegant solution - thank you!

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 19 September 2004 21:34 (twenty-one years ago)

it's always scarf weather, as far as i'm concerned.

lauren (laurenp), Sunday, 19 September 2004 22:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Should I drive up to San Francisco some weekend soon?

ex-jeremy (x Jeremy), Sunday, 19 September 2004 22:08 (twenty-one years ago)

hell yes!

rainy (rainy), Sunday, 19 September 2004 22:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, I stepped into her ex's shoes this morning (she's away) and have been wearing them all day. They might be just a bit too small, or it could be the way I'm crouching.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 19 September 2004 22:08 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe you just need to wear the ex boyfriend out of them.

rainy (rainy), Sunday, 19 September 2004 22:11 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks lauren! so if it's scarf weather it's also brandy weather right?

alba you've been crouching all day?!

jones (actual), Sunday, 19 September 2004 22:14 (twenty-one years ago)

likewise, it's always brandy weather.

lauren (laurenp), Sunday, 19 September 2004 22:41 (twenty-one years ago)

lauren, do we have a fall jacket thread?

amateur!!!st (amateurist), Sunday, 19 September 2004 23:13 (twenty-one years ago)

kate-- can you buy a flat in hoxton and get a flatmate that'll pay you rent which equals booze money?

Actually, that's a great idea! All my problems solved! But... my mum and uncle have already started squabbling about how soon to break up the trust, (interest rates, penalties, why do inheritances bring out the worst in people?) so lord knows when or if I'll see any money...

my question-- should i meet up with a very major ex that has just appeared in london? he just rang and wanted to know what i'm doing this week. eek.

Colette, there's already been some good advice about it but... my advice would be: only ever agree to meet significant exes if you are in a relationship yourself. Otherwise, that way badness lies. Especially if they start going on about how they've just been through a breakup. Car crash alert! Car crash alert!

Unless, of course, you're bored, and a car crash would be an entertaining diversion. But then again, if you've got broadband in your house, how can you be bored?

The 120 Days Of Streatham (kate), Monday, 20 September 2004 07:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I spend hours crouching sometimes. It's probably not good for me, I know.

Alba (Alba), Monday, 20 September 2004 10:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Thing is, there's a nice pair of Campers that fit me perfectly. Would it be insensitive to ask if I can wear her ex-boyfriend's shoes

i think you should just wear them, until she notices and says 'i hate your feet! what's wrong with your feet!?' and then you explain that she doesn't hate your feet, that she hates the shoes you're wearing, and that you thought that some good should come out of the relationship, after all.

i dated someone that had dumped a girl (for cheating repeatedly) that left loads of her stuff at his place. she was a cliche-- trying to sneakily move in item by item. she wouldn't come and pick it up, no matter how much he asked. finally, after 3 months of this, i went through it and took the stuff i wanted. i still wear a few. i figured if she didn't miss it while it was in his closet for months and months, she wouldn't miss it when i took it to england.

sadly, she was like 5'3, so most of the stuff didn't fit. and she worked at abercrombie. so i hated most of it. at least your flatmate's ex had taste and the decency to be your size!

Colette, there's already been some good advice about it but... my advice would be: only ever agree to meet significant exes if you are in a relationship yourself

i didn't meet him in the end, but because of practicalities, rather than anything else.

colette (a2lette), Monday, 20 September 2004 11:09 (twenty-one years ago)

saturday night: shuold i spend my last money on a hardfloor / slam / johanes heil / massimo rave thign with dj discussion panels that i cant drag any of my friends to (for they haet schranz) or shuold i atend a more ordinary tech house event that will alow me to socialise properly.

:| (....), Friday, 24 September 2004 23:54 (twenty-one years ago)

nothings right im torn etc.

:| (....), Friday, 24 September 2004 23:54 (twenty-one years ago)

you should sit in your house and drink yourself into oblivion. obv.

sadly, she was like 5'3, so most of the stuff didn't fit.

fucking short people!

mookieproof (mookieproof), Saturday, 25 September 2004 00:17 (twenty-one years ago)

i see. so its all about the drinkign: one should not drink outside when its cold, and its autumn now, and the rave is part outdoors. one needs money to buy alcohol, and the ticket price for the hardflor thing is so high i couldnt afford any. one should drink in company, and i would be alone at the rave. also you said i should sit in my house - the techhouse party has sofas aplenty.

:| (....), Saturday, 25 September 2004 01:45 (twenty-one years ago)

omg the second coment is spot on as well. at the party i mght meet the slant eyed blonde girl again that i danced with last week. she was aproximately 160 cm tall. mookie, you oracle!! you haev opened my eyes. i feel liek a frank capra hero at the end of the secodn act.

:| (....), Saturday, 25 September 2004 01:46 (twenty-one years ago)

tomorrow: should i go see the brando movie, the argentina movie, or no movie at all?

Cripps Pink (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 25 September 2004 02:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Somebody please advise me on how to begin dating. Somebody who's either happily married, or pleasently engaged in a non-destructive relationship.

{Sand in the [vaseline} on the lens] (x Jeremy), Saturday, 25 September 2004 02:19 (twenty-one years ago)

steal them off your best mate. you know what they're like then, and it will always remind yer mate who the fucking boss is.

darraghmac, Saturday, 25 September 2004 02:24 (twenty-one years ago)

would be good advice, but my friends are all gay, single, or lame.

{Sand in the [vaseline} on the lens] (x Jeremy), Saturday, 25 September 2004 02:25 (twenty-one years ago)

"my friends are all gay, single, or lame. "

mmm, a SWOT analysis suggests that, while making you look VERY good by comparison and contrast, your friends might actually be contributing to the non-starter status of your recent amourous travails.....

darraghmac, Saturday, 25 September 2004 02:29 (twenty-one years ago)

tomorrow: should i go see the brando movie, the argentina movie, or no movie at all?

it's supposed to be a lovely day, so i say no movie at all. if not, then argentina. there'll always be more brando, yes?

mookieproof (mookieproof), Saturday, 25 September 2004 02:38 (twenty-one years ago)

uh dude maybe nobody told you but he died

s1ocki (slutsky), Saturday, 25 September 2004 02:42 (twenty-one years ago)

oh yeah. sorry

mookieproof (mookieproof), Saturday, 25 September 2004 02:44 (twenty-one years ago)

shd I apply fr a kp job which may be approx. 25hrs a week when my course says I probly shouldn't work more than 15hrs, but the course is quite light, comparative to other academic courses.

cºzen (Cozen), Saturday, 2 October 2004 09:06 (twenty-one years ago)

nuts?

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 2 October 2004 10:31 (twenty-one years ago)

job = 10 hours less available: sleeping time, reading time, eating and having joy-of-life time, study time, day dreaming time, enjoying the company of friends time, sex time.............and all the while you have to maintain the required standard of progress 'n learning achievement at your course.
It's up to you, naturally, but my opinion leans towards the lazier ( less stressful ? ) option.

But then, my attitude regarding work vs non-work hours has recently plummetted to an all time low of terrible slackness :-)

donna (donna), Saturday, 2 October 2004 10:49 (twenty-one years ago)

thank you donna, I'm not a hippy.

cºzen (Cozen), Saturday, 2 October 2004 20:36 (twenty-one years ago)

RJG: lazy?

cºzen (Cozen), Saturday, 2 October 2004 20:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it KP nuts, though?

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 2 October 2004 21:37 (twenty-one years ago)

cozen: yes
RJG: yes

Matt (Matt), Saturday, 2 October 2004 22:06 (twenty-one years ago)

my friend's girlfriend is going back to israel tomorrow. they're having a farewell dinner tonight. i'm not feeling too well today (though i'd be okay enough to go to something i really wanted to go to) and i've already eaten (it would have helped to have him inform me about the dinner prior to dinnertime) and don't really know her very well, though we've been out together a couple times, and i don't wanna go, but i kind of feel that it's the sort of thing that *should* be done. what say you?

m. (mitchlnw), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Should I go to an interview even though I have formally accepted another job by email (one which doesn't start for another 3-4 weeks)?

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 16:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Is there any sort of handy excuse that could be used? Like a prior engagement or a family commitment??

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 16:26 (twenty-one years ago)

you could go to the interview just for the hell of it adam...get the feel of the place, it might be better than the job you've accepted...

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 16:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, you are right. I am worried that I will be a rather protracted process...but I guess I have nothing to lose. It might even pay a little bit more.

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 16:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Should I go home sick even though i was off Thursday and Friday of last week 'cause I had the flu and yesterday because I was sick, but it was Columbus Day and I had the day off anyway?

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 16:31 (twenty-one years ago)

if you actually feel sick and it's something colleagues could catch you should go home luna

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 16:35 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, freelance is correct. It would cost the company more in lost hours if the flu virus is spread from people who soldier on.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 16:36 (twenty-one years ago)

i thought jel's first question was a response to adam, not me. it still might be. if it was to me, i reply: i'm no good at lying to friends, even white lying.

m. (mitchlnw), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 16:37 (twenty-one years ago)

except i have got a handy excuse: i've got lots of work to do.

m. (mitchlnw), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 16:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Well there you go mitch! It was to you.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 16:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Mitch, If you don't feel good, that's a great excuse. Are other people invited as well?

Adam, go to the interview. You will probably feel more confident because you know you already have something lined up anyway.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

oh no, i've just accepted. after half-heartedly pushing the "i've got work" line, i felt too sleazy trying to stick "and i'm not feeling well" on top of it. i probably would have allowed saddam more sanctions.

m. (mitchlnw), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 16:43 (twenty-one years ago)

i reloaded this thread hoping that it had magically erased that end bit of my last post.

m. (mitchlnw), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 16:44 (twenty-one years ago)

..and now i've declined! what a flip flop

m. (mitchlnw), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 16:56 (twenty-one years ago)

eleven years pass...

Did we get all of these sorted
