Hullo

We are doing a second club popular at the chapel, on Thursday 30th September (last working day of the month, for those of you paid then).

Free entry, ALL NUMBER ONES, ALL THE TIME. Remember cocktail happy hour is only 'til 7.30, so get down early :)

Look at baby alang DJ!!!

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 13 September 2004 09:30 (twenty-one years ago)

i recommend the chinese shop round the corner for their beef in black bean sauce rice noodles, but check teeth for black bean residue afterwards.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 13 September 2004 09:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Baaaaaby Alang!

I will be there :)

Starry (hello chickens), Monday, 13 September 2004 09:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll be there too, I imagine.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 13 September 2004 12:44 (twenty-one years ago)

i knew we should've given flyers to girls aloud last week...

it's not impossible that there may be (former) real actual pop stars there (none of your indie rubbish, neither) though...

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 08:49 (twenty-one years ago)

A lot of the big obvious #1 hits (esp. from the 90s) were avoided so I wonder if they will be aired this time

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 08:57 (twenty-one years ago)

you talking about Come On Eileen perchance?

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 08:58 (twenty-one years ago)

amongst other things...not that i want to hear that song ever again particularly!

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 09:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Come on eileen was not from the 90s?

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 09:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Er, that was 1982.

The probable reason why a lot of the big obvious #1 hits from the '90s were avoided is that most of them tended to be gloopy, not very danceable ballads (i.e. Bryan Adams, Whitney, Celine, Wet Wet Wet, Singing Squaddies etc.) or not easily danceable Britpop stuff - you can't exactly bop to "All Around The World" or "Beetlebum." You'd be much better off doing an evening of #2 hits from the '90s as that lets in "Common People," "Music Sounds Better With You," "I'm Too Sexy," "Tubthumping," "Everybody In The Place" etc. etc.

Donnie Smith The Quiz Kid, Tuesday, 14 September 2004 09:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Although of course the number one options still leave you with things like "3AM Eternal," "Dreamer," "Saturday Night," "Praise You," "Firestarter" and what have you.

Donnie Smith The Quiz Kid, Tuesday, 14 September 2004 09:06 (twenty-one years ago)

it was a typo, i meant to write 80s

i played mostly 90s #1s at the last one - all excellent, but no Charles & Eddie

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 09:07 (twenty-one years ago)

there needs to be aqua.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 09:08 (twenty-one years ago)

(xpost)

Oh right, I see. Yes, the '80s weren't exactly a golden age for number ones but there was still plenty of good stuff.

Do the '70s get much of an airing at Club P? I've not yet been, but suspect that, although old codgers like me would enjoy a bit of '70s chart-topping stuff, the younger lot would get bored.

Donnie Smith The Quiz Kid, Tuesday, 14 September 2004 09:14 (twenty-one years ago)

The 70s was pretty heavily represented last time, especially in the first half of the evening - Alan's set was very glam as I remember.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 09:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, the '80s weren't exactly a golden age for number ones

it is true that this period was something of a desert for chart-topping pop excellence, with only Boris Gardiner, Goombay Dance Band, Fairground Attraction and The Bee Gees carrying the torch.

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 09:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Well this is what I was thinking.

The production on that Bee Gees one ("You Win Again") is bloody weird, with a rhythm track that seems to have been constructed out of samples of roadworks on the M25. It's like the Gibb Brothers vs Test Dept. And you can't dance or smooch to it either.

And there's Nick Berry, Kelly Marie, Aneka and no less than THREE Jive Bunny number ones to choose from!

Donnie Smith The Quiz Kid, Tuesday, 14 September 2004 09:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I can confirm that I am not the person referred to by Steve (although I have played on a record that reached about number 108)

Porkpie (porkpie), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 09:24 (twenty-one years ago)

That wouldn't be David Brent's cover of "If You Don't Know Me By Now" would it?

*goes off and checks video of Office Xmas special*

Oh no, that only managed number 113.

What was the record, PP?

Donnie Smith The Quiz Kid, Tuesday, 14 September 2004 09:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I have no idea of the name of the song (basically I rolled a pitchbender around on a keyboard for a mate when I was in Bournemouth, for the remixed b-side) and I'm hard-preessed to remember the name of the band, possibly cr0wforce or summat like that anyway, it was 11 years ago

Porkpie (porkpie), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 09:28 (twenty-one years ago)

i think the 60s probably lost out more than the 70s last time, crtainly by the time people were dancing, perhaps (perhaps) because the 60s stuff is seen as more "rock canon"y than the bubblegum 70s stuff (this is only a hypothesis). or it might just be that slade/suzi quattro etc is more fun to dance to :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 09:30 (twenty-one years ago)

the greatest thing about Jive Bunny is that he pretty much rendered the 60s useless by taking all the best bits and cramming them into manageable chunks for Thatcherkids like me to digest. i have some good Ben Liebrand megamixes of 80s stuff too but he lacked the insight to make 3-4 minute sequences that would be chart-friendly and reach a wider audience.

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 09:31 (twenty-one years ago)

i worry that i am too good at this game

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 09:31 (twenty-one years ago)

OH MY GOD

chris i *have* that cr0wforce 12" ph34r me!

is this where is out you as the industrial-metal kid you've been all along????

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 09:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Do the '70s get much of an airing at Club P? I've not yet been, but suspect that, although old codgers like me would enjoy a bit of '70s chart-topping stuff, the younger lot would get bored.
This was largely the case. I got a couple of laydeez dancing to the 70s stuff. And possibly Kelly Marie. (playing her song, she wasn't one of the laydeez dancing.)

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 09:33 (twenty-one years ago)

no, I just worked with a bloke in them. I think I spotted him at the last ATP but didn't go up in case I made an ass of myself and he didn't know me from adam, but Mark, if yr reading - hi!

Porkpie (porkpie), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 09:33 (twenty-one years ago)

i think the 60s probably lost out more than the 70s last time, crtainly by the time people were dancing, perhaps (perhaps) because the 60s stuff is seen as more "rock canon"y than the bubblegum 70s stuff (this is only a hypothesis). or it might just be that slade/suzi quattro etc is more fun to dance to :)

-- CarsmileSteve (carsmilestev...), September 14th, 2004.

Probably because there isn't really an equivalent to glam or bubblegum when you look at '60s number ones (Dave Clark Five? The Monkees?), and by contemporary standards (rhythm, production etc.) it would all sound rather dated, ploddy and square to younger ears; there isn't an equivalent to, say, "Dancing Queen" or "I Will Survive" - the perennials that will always get people out on the floor. But you can still do the old boot-stomping to "Coz I Luv You" or "Devil Gate Drive."

Otherwise, put on "Get Down" by Gilbert O'Sullivan and pretend it's the Ben Folds Five!

Donnie Smith The Quiz Kid, Tuesday, 14 September 2004 09:44 (twenty-one years ago)

so then, is there a feeling that Club Popular, as sound and enjoyable a concept as it is, may only have short term appeal/limited life span?

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

why? loads of clubs do well playing the same songs over and over!

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 09:52 (twenty-one years ago)

as a "special" thing like once every few months it seems to be a fun idea.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 09:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, 1000+ number ones sounds like a heck of a lot of music, but then when you find that a lot of them simply don't work in particular club contexts (one would be a very brave DJ to step up and try doing a '50s set, for instance), then the possible options would rapidly exhaust themselves (it would probably be the same if you tried any Guilty Pleasures-type themed nights).

In the larger context of Club FT, then, I suspect you could probably do a Club Popular night every few months or so, but on a regular basis (i.e. monthly) it would indeed have a limited lifespan.

Donnie Smith The Quiz Kid, Tuesday, 14 September 2004 09:56 (twenty-one years ago)

it's very strict afaik, so you can't play b-sides or remixes of #1 hits - double A sides are interesting, i assume one could play either. Robson & Jerome will be relieved.

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 10:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I think Club Popular every couple of months is a good idea, and it wouldn't matter so much that we'd get repeats. Whereas with the closer together number of Club Freaky Triggers, it does actually matter that the same songs tend to get played - good songs yes, but they kind of did my head in last time I went (hello DJs I still like you though hello).

Starry (hello chickens), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 10:00 (twenty-one years ago)

but it was those same songs that people dance to the most - oh curse yous twisted paradox

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 10:02 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah but that doesn't mean there aren't other songs that'd make people dance ;)

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 10:06 (twenty-one years ago)

(by that i mean aqua, btw)

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 10:06 (twenty-one years ago)

hasn't rowley just started up a guilty pleasures night?

i think the idea would be to do it no more than quarterly, because then you can, to an extent, avoid the repitition type problems (or they aren't so noticeable anyway), and also vary it (#2s, american #1s etc).

that said, if someone came along and said "this is great, we will pay you handsomely to do this every week" i think we'd cravenly give in like the corporate whores we are ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 10:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Cr0wf0rce!!? Crikey. One of my friends got given an ep of theirs for his birthday back in 1993 and it became a kind of mathom, getting passed around most of our mutual circle of friends at every possible birthday opportunity. I wonder where it is now.

Ricardo (RickyT), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 10:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, turn it into a Champion's League style club where nos. 2, 3 and sometimes 4 are also allowed. But don't do it yet.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 10:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, Ken is right. I think it's a case you have booze and you're used to playing song x and it goes down well so you do it again - and I've not complained cos I've happily enjoyed this for years innit. You know, maybe a *different* Andrew WK song, or you know?

Starry (hello chickens), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 10:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes! Champions League Club Popular is a great idea - #s1-4 from the UK, Spain and Italy, only #1-2 from Germany and France and the occasional Greek and Turkish and Ukranian smash hit.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 10:14 (twenty-one years ago)

(Haha good luck getting the full list of European Number 1s though)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 10:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Won't they all be the same? More or less.

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 10:16 (twenty-one years ago)

You know, maybe a *different* Andrew WK song, or you know?

ha, except they all sound exactly the same...hasn't it been different the last few times, actually? i remember tom telling me he'd lost the cd or something?

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 10:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Great unknown joys and horrors lurk in the upper reaches of the Euro charts, I think.

It's been We Want Fun every time that I can remember, I think maybe it could be quietly retired by now though as there are other standards now vying for space at the end of the night.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 10:18 (twenty-one years ago)

having knocked off early the last couple of ClubFTs i have missed the WK action, however i am in favour of a moratorium...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 10:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Also We Want Fun keeps providing new and exciting ways for me to cause minor injuries to myself, which I can do without. That scissor kick last month was a mistake.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 10:20 (twenty-one years ago)

i blame YMOF ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 10:21 (twenty-one years ago)

We Want Fun sucks donkey cock. It's not great to be forced off the dance floor at the end of the night due to a stupid joke that really isn't funny any more.

/Barry

who the hell are O-zone, they are in most of the european charts and twic in the danish top 5. Nicklodeon.nl have stopped playinfg so much pop so my handle on euro kiddy pop is not what it was.

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 12:48 (twenty-one years ago)

O-Zone are ugly German (I think) boys covering an Italian dance hit called 'Dragostea Din Tei' which has hilarious lyrics involving 'the love of the linden tree'. Also their video is silly.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 12:50 (twenty-one years ago)

no, but surely there must be 20 years of bulgarian number ones just begging to be played.

"Dragostea Din Tei"? Aren't they that lot who are advertising the complete Only Fools And Horses on DVD? (summary: plonker, this time next year we'll be millionaires, falls through the bar, chandelier falls down, dressed as Batman)

Donnie Smith The Quiz Kid, Tuesday, 14 September 2004 13:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, O-Zone did it originally and the Italian hit is a cover of their song. They're Moldovan, I think.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 27 September 2004 12:16 (twenty-one years ago)

just keeping it in people's minds :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 08:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I would like to see Archel, I think.

I wonder if either JtN or Andrew Farrell are going to the club, on Thursday.

the bellefox, Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:38 (twenty-one years ago)

bumpity bump bump

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 22:09 (twenty-one years ago)

bump bump grind

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 22:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Did anyone play Fern Kinney's 'Together We Are Beautiful'? That would have been nice.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 22:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Er...I personally didn't play it last night. However, perhaps it will be played at Club Popular tonight.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 30 September 2004 06:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't come to London tonight after all :(
Have fun. (It's nice that you think you'd like to see me, PF. It will occur soon hopefully!)

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 30 September 2004 07:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I had a dream last night that I visited London, and came to a "FAP". It was in an upstairs room, in a slightly strange pub, w/wood-panneled walls. There were quite a few people there, though the only ones I remember from seeing pics on ilx were pete and n/alba. I went to the bar, and was condescended appalingly by the barman. I was just going back to where everyone was, when I woke up. It was all quite pleasant, apart from the snotty barman, but not a very interesting or thrilling dream to relate, I must admit. I hope you all have a nice time, anyway.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 30 September 2004 07:40 (twenty-one years ago)

It is quite accurate.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Thursday, 30 September 2004 07:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah - I was confused by the way in which the date moves forward at midnight. I've never liked that.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 30 September 2004 09:55 (twenty-one years ago)

i am so excited about this now...because of my SPECIAL REQUEST.

woohoo.

i predict it will clear the floor within seconds of starting. maybe i can convince ken c to dance with me-- it seems like he'd be tolerant.

is kate coming?

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 30 September 2004 09:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Is the special request the *** *** *****?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Can Fern Kinney's 'Together We Are Beautiful' be my special request, or do I have to pay?

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I am still mildly ruined after last night's adventures and will struggle to get back on an even keel by tonight, I fear. The people responsible know who they are.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:08 (twenty-one years ago)

(xpost)

No, you'd have to pay premium rates for that request over at the PRIVATE SHOP.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:09 (twenty-one years ago)

i think matt might be on the right track...

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:10 (twenty-one years ago)

tonight's SPECIAL GUEST DJS really are SPECIAL GUEST DJS btw - we all know that term tends to be so misused and abused with such things...but this time it's for real, honest guv

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I think there should be a B-Club Popular, playing only B-sides of No.1s.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:13 (twenty-one years ago)

(perhaps in a back room)

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Morning Lemon!

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Morning.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:14 (twenty-one years ago)

is colette implying that i'd dance to anything? (she's right)

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:15 (twenty-one years ago)

i won't dance to *** *** ***** but i might dance to **** ** **

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:16 (twenty-one years ago)

how were the adventures last night matt? i wanted to go but sleep overwhelmed me.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:16 (twenty-one years ago)

and i would definitely dance to ***** ****** ***** in honour it's b-side

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:16 (twenty-one years ago)

is it Basement Jaxx? Or the Chuckle Brothers?

C'mon, it *has* to be one of the two...

(I can't come to this due to being at a gig in Westbourne Park at 9pm. Oh hold on, what time does it start? Maybe I can pop in on my way, cos it's been a while, like...)

ps. Fern Kinney would be fantastic! I've been on the lookout for a 7"/mp3 of that for years...

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:17 (twenty-one years ago)

i thought i wanted to dance to barbie girl, but that song makes me sad now that i found out that ken and barbie had split up :(

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:17 (twenty-one years ago)

ken is gay

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:18 (twenty-one years ago)

charlie, you should know what it is since YOU STILL HAVE MY COPY OF IT!

ken, i think it was your love of barbie girl that makes me think you'll dance to my song with me. that, and your success at DDR.

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Is Fern Kinney the special guest DJ tonight then?

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:19 (twenty-one years ago)

oh i'll dance with you colette - barbie girl is byebye but there's still DOCTOR JONES

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:20 (twenty-one years ago)

charlie, you should know what it is since YOU STILL HAVE MY COPY OF IT!

lol nonono I was trying to guess who the guest DJs are!

But thanks for mentioning that anyway, otherwise I'd have forgotten to bring it along for you. I shall now endeavour to do so, along with your A-Z.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Or is it TV's Fern Britton?

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:23 (twenty-one years ago)

cool. i'll try to remember to bring yours. i assume you don't want to carry your wine glasses to a gig, though?

tonight's FT is almost like christmas. except that people are giving me my stuff. and tickets that have to get sent back. so not quite as cool.

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, I didn't realise we'd actually *swapped* A-Zs at any point! I just thought I'd nicked yours somehow...anyway. Er, wine glasses at the gig might be somewhat cumbersome, yes. Don't panic, I'd kinda written them off anyway, birthday present or no :-(

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Please let the guest DJ be Fern Cotton!

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Dorothy Cotton

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:33 (twenty-one years ago)

i'd like to see DJing

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:33 (twenty-one years ago)

It's the Chuckle Brothers playing two-deck tag, I tell you: "To me, to you..." etc.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:34 (twenty-one years ago)

alba, are you actually going to be there, or are you just living vicariously through this thread...

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:35 (twenty-one years ago)

There's nothing wrong with that!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:43 (twenty-one years ago)

There'll be a live video fernlink.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Cockfarmage. I have left the tickets on my desk at home, now I'll have to go back between work and Club FT.

(This is probably sensible anyway)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:44 (twenty-one years ago)

if that'll mess up your night, you could maybe bring them on monday or something? although i think that's cutting it close to the deadline.

do you think they'll allow me to just return them at the islington academy (which is right next to my office), or do i have to post them?

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:51 (twenty-one years ago)

If I go home first I can still get to Islington by 8ish by which point things will only just be getting going. Also it will stop early drinking, and therefore ruin turning into catastrophe. Dropping them by the Academy box office tomorrow can't hurt though.

There's a pound in it for the Grecian Earn if anyone plays The Model tonight, by the way. It will make me feel better ;)

Also, I know who the SPECIAL GUESTS are and its very exciting.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:58 (twenty-one years ago)

swapping A-Zs, twee alert!

what are these tickets for?

(excuse my noseyness)

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 11:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Another vote for Fern Britten please.

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 30 September 2004 11:01 (twenty-one years ago)

she never had a number 1

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 11:02 (twenty-one years ago)

BLUR!!!!!!!!!! might be the special guests again.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Thursday, 30 September 2004 11:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Tony Di Bart won't return my calls :(

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 11:03 (twenty-one years ago)

oddly, we've been using the *** *** ***** ringtone as test data for our app so i hear it abour 4000 times a day (for a month it was the benny hill theme tune, then fraggle rock, then charlie brown but now it's the sodding *** *** *****)

koogs (koogs), Thursday, 30 September 2004 11:13 (twenty-one years ago)

that's quite a downward spiral

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 11:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm very much hoping to hear Good Vibrations, this week being this week and all. I'd also rather dance to Say You'll Be There than Wannabe, but hey. Obviously I will happily part with cash money if these dreams come true.

My special guess as to the special guests is: Paul Oakenfold AND Steve Osbourne. Although Mike Stock AND Matt Aitken would be nice too.

JimD (JimD), Thursday, 30 September 2004 11:27 (twenty-one years ago)

she never had a number 1

-- Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (stevem7...), September 30th, 2004.

Fern Britton sang on the Ferry Aid record (note for younger readers: this was to do with a P&O ferry which crashed and sank, not a plea by a rock star's ex-wife for foxhunting not to be banned OTHERWISE SHE'LL OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT SINGLE HANDED OH YES SHE WILL!).

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 30 September 2004 11:32 (twenty-one years ago)

well i never, good on 'er

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 11:37 (twenty-one years ago)

at least two out of girls aloud will be there. they get around.

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Thursday, 30 September 2004 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought it was Charlie from Busted and Noel from Hearsay?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 30 September 2004 11:57 (twenty-one years ago)

It could be Brian and Michael.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 30 September 2004 11:58 (twenty-one years ago)

i'll be there relatively late due to work commitments (we're going bowling) but when i walk in i expect to see David Sneddon in the corner surrounded by a bevy of buxom beauties with Salacious Crumb in chains aside, Fergie BEP in full on Lord Rockingham regalia, Pete Burns and Cabbage having a scrap in the gents, Phil Oakey boisterously slapping the back of the menko one from Sister Sledge at the bar and the corpse of the late great Dusty Springfield being tossed around the dancefloor while members of Chicory Tip, Ramon Zenker of Hardfloor and Fragma fame and the fit one from B*Witched look on aghast.

or else i'll be sorely disappointed.

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 12:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Dusty was a mistake, replace with Mel Appleby (RIP)

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 12:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Doubtless to indulge in some unconventional 69ing with Dickie Valentine, Johnny Kidd and Marc Bolan.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 30 September 2004 12:26 (twenty-one years ago)

madam you go too far

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 12:27 (twenty-one years ago)

There's nothing like a shortcut to save time!

And I hear that Jim Reeves and John Denver will be flying in!

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 30 September 2004 12:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Club Zombie

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 12:33 (twenty-one years ago)

With EXCITING SPECIAL GUEST DJs Guy Mitchell and Tennessee Ernie Ford!

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 30 September 2004 12:37 (twenty-one years ago)

hello

i was a little worried that i had no idea what colette's special reqest is then realised that it didn't matter because we are bound to have it with us, hurrah for simple themes :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 30 September 2004 13:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Simple Themes? Didn't they have a number one in 1989 with "Belfast Child"?

(I'd LOVE to see the Club Popular massive try dancing to that!)

(come to think of it, a warm-up set of undanceable number ones would be an excellent idea for future CPs)

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 30 September 2004 13:40 (twenty-one years ago)

it's ok, i already emailed tom with my request, and he says he'll have it. hurrah!

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 30 September 2004 13:45 (twenty-one years ago)

If last time is anything to go by, I think a warm-up set of undanceable number ones is in the offing tonight. Way before anyone is tipsy enough to go anywhere near the dancefloor, mind.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 30 September 2004 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Was 'Gorky Park' by The Scorpions ever number 1?

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Thursday, 30 September 2004 13:56 (twenty-one years ago)

(Belfast Child made me think of that for some reason)

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Thursday, 30 September 2004 13:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Rob isn't that 'Wind Of Change' (in which they mention Gorky Park) - fortunately it stalled at #2 (tho for about 17 weeks iirc)

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 13:57 (twenty-one years ago)

[Whistles the Wind Of Change intro, gazes into the middle distance...]

JimD (JimD), Thursday, 30 September 2004 13:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Er so when are people actually gonna get there, tonight??

Starry (hello chickens), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm NOT, haha. Going to put me feet up and have a nice cup of tea at home. Also maybe panic about not finding a house.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:25 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm going to an IMPORTANT BUSINESS MEETING at barbican later and will walk/bus there straight after.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:29 (twenty-one years ago)

rough plan: turn up around 6.15, leave an hour later, return around 10 having pwned colleagues satisfactorily, dance like a giddy goat to 'Hoots Mon' and the one about the chimney on her or whatever, be blotto

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Liz, you HAVE to come! We must steal some more martini glasses!

marianna lcl (marianna lcl), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I shall probably be late. I am dying my hair. It could all go horribly wrong. Superdrug didn't have my usual colour.

alix (alix), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

yes - 'wind of change'! silly me! i think the whistling intro and the pipes intro of 'belfast child' are linked together in the weird alternate musical universe that exists in my head.

i will be there later. with my big bag ready for late night drunken grocery shopping, of course!

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:36 (twenty-one years ago)

i think you should get so drunk that you buy cloves

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Mmmm Pink Clove. STOCK IT NOW CHAPEL BAR!

Lixi what colour have you got?? Is it black like your soul?

Starry (hello chickens), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, how many stolen martini glasses do I need? My mind is (almost as) made up (as it can be). I'm beginning to hibernate.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:46 (twenty-one years ago)

wat? steve you're going bowling later?

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Red. I like red. My soul isn't black. What are you saying? I ate 5 or your Milk Tray though. Sorry.

alix (alix), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:48 (twenty-one years ago)

dry your eyes mate, i know it's hard to take but her mind has been made up, there's plenty more martini in the glass

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:48 (twenty-one years ago)

for 'or', read 'of'

alix (alix), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude. I hope they were the nut ones. I don't like the nut ones as much. Help yourself to the Turkish delight too. In fact, all of them. Argh! Chocolate.

I am saying you are teh gothz0rz!

ANYWAY I expect I will be there around 615/630ish after JOINING THE GIM!!

Starry (hello chickens), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Is JtN going?

the bellefox, Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:51 (twenty-one years ago)

takes a goth to know a goth. GOTH.

alix (alix), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:53 (twenty-one years ago)

(NB I do not mean "all" of them of course).

Alix why are you calling the pinefox a goth?!

The....

gothfox?

Starry (hello chickens), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:53 (twenty-one years ago)

5 milk trays!!

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:54 (twenty-one years ago)

The Pinegoth?

alix (alix), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:54 (twenty-one years ago)

This stuff writes itself!

Starry (hello chickens), Thursday, 30 September 2004 15:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Not 5 boxes of Milk Tray. I was in a hurry.

alix (alix), Thursday, 30 September 2004 15:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Where did Alix call me a Goth?

Is Mr Farrell going, to the club?

the bellefox, Thursday, 30 September 2004 15:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Joe, please explain to me why on god's earth you have included an apostrophe in that second sentence?

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 30 September 2004 16:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Err... he hasn,t.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 30 September 2004 16:26 (twenty-one years ago)

COMMA EILEEN!

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Thursday, 30 September 2004 16:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I think the comma belongs OK. ?

the bellefox, Thursday, 30 September 2004 16:44 (twenty-one years ago)

So, is JtN not going? Or Mr. Farrell?

the bellefox, Thursday, 30 September 2004 16:44 (twenty-one years ago)

who knows? If they're going, they might well have left already. Mr Farrell especially, one would suspect.

cis (cis), Thursday, 30 September 2004 16:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Who are the special guest DJs?

What is Lixi's hair like?

Is JtN there?

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I am not there, yet.

I am going to go!

the bellefox, Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I am hoping for asn online feed.

Are you 'working' late, The Pinefox?

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes!

Hi, PJM. It is always nice to encounter you.

I have promised people, that we will mail sinister soon!

the bellefox, Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:45 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, I've been psyching myself up. I checked out THE SPREAD EAGLE the other day, just in case.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I have been there.

Everyone, on sinister, has!

I am looking forward, to you, on ROCKER PUBS and, um, PARAKEET PLACE.

As John Motson said in October 1987:

TURKEY -- ... SPREADEAGLED!

the bellefox, Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I would hope the pinefox would have other reasons to go out than my presence, for the good of everyone.

I'd also hope that comma abusage passes through this unregulated stage, to become professionals only.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 30 September 2004 19:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I am, a pro.

Farrell: it is always nice to see you, at discos, and elsewhere. But I will go nonetheless. I had better go now, really.

the finefox, Thursday, 30 September 2004 19:11 (twenty-one years ago)

you could do better

but, i think, you won't try

the great doxology of heckmondwike town (gareth), Thursday, 30 September 2004 23:56 (twenty-one years ago)

i am so sad. i had a nice time, but stayed until the VERY LAST SONG so that i could hear my request. with my money in my pocket. which i used to buy food at sainsbury's on the way home, instead, since it wasn't played. sigh.

colette (a2lette), Friday, 1 October 2004 00:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah, the modern sport of coletteasing,

Alba (Alba), Friday, 1 October 2004 05:18 (twenty-one years ago)

gd to see our special guests again.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 1 October 2004 07:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Colette - are you sure it wasn't played while you were asleep? ;)

Argh, I am a vague rumbling mess this morning. Still, best Club FT in ages! Ethan dances like no human I have ever seen but it was good to meet him and Minna and Billy Dods (the Ilxer, not the erstwhile Scotland international).

Best bit of the night - Waterloo. Just the moment when everyone got onto the dancefloor in one big circle and it seemed like everything was right in the world. Also falling on my arse after losing the How Low Can You Go game to Jim during Mr Boombastic.

Also I saw Gareth *and* Mark S on the Chapel dancefloor for the first time. Good work boys.

I'm sad that Cis is leaving. Who am I going to do synchronised Busted jumps with now?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 1 October 2004 07:35 (twenty-one years ago)

who were the special guests then?

Pashmina (Pashmina), Friday, 1 October 2004 07:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Best bit of the night - Waterloo. Just the moment when everyone got onto the dancefloor in one big circle and it seemed like everything was right in the world.

We didn't fight the punk wars to end up with a fecking Hi Ho Silver Lining routine revival!

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 1 October 2004 07:42 (twenty-one years ago)

norman - ethan and minna.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 1 October 2004 07:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I am sorry. I suck. Death Disco broke me. My hungover kept me in bed watching Tony Robinson.

My mind is all messed up. I've exchanged phone numbers with the Ghost Of Crushes Past.

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 1 October 2004 07:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I didn't fight in the punk wars at all!

Alba (Alba), Friday, 1 October 2004 07:49 (twenty-one years ago)

well done everyone, thank you for coming.

matt, you can do your busted jumps with me and pete, i know it's not quite the same...

collette, the last thing i said to tom before i left was "make sure you play collette's request", so it's all his fault ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 1 October 2004 07:51 (twenty-one years ago)

That programme on the Peasants' Revolt was fantastic!

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 1 October 2004 07:51 (twenty-one years ago)

ethan as in s trife?

Pashmina (Pashmina), Friday, 1 October 2004 07:53 (twenty-one years ago)

The same. He displayed turtle power.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 1 October 2004 07:54 (twenty-one years ago)

damn! I wish I'd been there!

Pashmina (Pashmina), Friday, 1 October 2004 07:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah well I fought in the Punk Wars AND the Free Jazz Wars and I didn't get fatally blown up so that You Pesky Kids could revive the Fecking Hi Ho Silver Lining Routine!!!!

Sounds nightmarish, like that Right Guard ad where it's all blokes sweating together.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 1 October 2004 07:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't like Tony's new beard thing. I know he was trying to rock the Medieval Peasant look and all, but it just wasn't working for me.

He's probably trying to make up for ongoing tonsural recession at the top end. But it makes him look like a Mini-Me of Alexei Sayle.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 1 October 2004 08:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Ha! I got TWO requests and colette got none! Ner ner!

But I woke up at 5.30 this morning on the living room floor. So who's all clever now, eh? eh? :|

JimD (JimD), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:16 (twenty-one years ago)

i, didn't get, to, meet Billy, Dods

but i, did meet Ben, who knew of Acen, which is, i think, good

entering a club to 'The Final Countdown' also quite teh fun

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I owe CarsmileSteve a shiny English pound for playing The Model. I rule at robot dancing!

Also to whoever played the first thirty seconds of Spaceman before cutting it off - I love you. I'm sorry for whatever I might have put Stevem through during the course of that 30 seconds.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Pete Baran was a genius, until he played Teh Hindu Times

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:19 (twenty-one years ago)

personally i think it's time Club Popular went, as they say round my manor, 'up west' - it might pull in a lot more people that way

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:22 (twenty-one years ago)

oh god yeah - babylon zoo! will you all laugh at me if i admit that i wanted to hear the WHOLE SONG?

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I woke up at 5:30 this morning in my bed. Now that's clever.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 1 October 2004 08:22 (twenty-one years ago)

yes rob

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Ooh, just had embarrassing flashback number one. Me singing Dexy's Geno to myself in the mirror. Urk.

JimD (JimD), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I also vote for "up west" - I got home at 2am! WHY WOULD THEY NOT THROW US OUT AT A CIVILISED TIME?? I am plum tuckered and have already succumbed to McDonalds sossidge/egg mcmuffing.

xpost: GENO! GENO! GENO!

Starry (hello chickens), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:26 (twenty-one years ago)

um, the buggles TWICE? and cutting out before the little dreamy bit at the end both times? bah!

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:29 (twenty-one years ago)

We had Club FT up west last year! No one came except a surly looking bloke in a hat, and no once danced until the last three songs of the night.

Outhere Brothers got played twice as well, once by Trife and once in Steve's Boom Set.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Did anyone play Lena Martell (the only non-really-famous No.1 from 1979?)

Alba (Alba), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Club Popular is different from Club FT tho Matt

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:31 (twenty-one years ago)

And how did Fern go down?

Alba (Alba), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I am now thinking inappropriate thoughts about Fern Cotton.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:32 (twenty-one years ago)

You mean Fern Britton I bet

Jedermann sein eigener Fussball (Dada), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:33 (twenty-one years ago)

last night was great fun. especially getting to hear so many songs that i remember buying 12"s of on my trips to england when i was a young teen...

my routine post-chapel-bar grocery shopping was not as good. too much stuff out of stock, too many isles blocked, i forgot some things that i needed, and stupidly bought two boxes of some chocolate mousse cup thingys called "Gu", for no reason other than some dude in the line in front of me had FOUR boxes (they were two for £2.50). i had some of this brown Gu when i got home. it was OK.

the pinefox was surly, last night.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Surly doors

Jedermann sein eigener Fussball (Dada), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:35 (twenty-one years ago)

whoever played "Rolling" played some crazy remix version that never got to no.1

ken c (ken c), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Remix sales count to chart positions, don't they?

Alba (Alba), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:37 (twenty-one years ago)

i had my first banana in a year, last night, at sainsbury's.. i didn't even use the discount card in the end! :(

ken c (ken c), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:37 (twenty-one years ago)

i hope you bought cloves Rob

ooh was it the Urban Assault Vehicle mix of 'Rollin'?

i'd never heard that version of 'Pump Up The Volume' before either, but then there are 2186 different edits

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:42 (twenty-one years ago)

that pump up the volume version was what i remember hearing on the radio in canadialand.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks for the Cher, Cabs.

> oh god yeah - babylon zoo

from my office window i can see into the next office where they have a huge Spaceman poster on the wall (they do management). They also have various gold disks and Melissa Etheridge and Bryan Adams stuff.

(actually, this very moment he's practicing his golf swing. not the kind of thing you expect to see in an upstairs office)

koogs (koogs), Friday, 1 October 2004 09:36 (twenty-one years ago)

it was tremendous fun last night. i thought i wasn't going to be drunk but i ended up as being that.

and omg. WHO'S YER DADDY?

Ha ha, Number 20 is definitely one for Up The Arse Corner!

(Even better than that Pete Docherty rent boy photo I found on the slash site...)

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 1 October 2004 09:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish I hadn't been knackered. But I went home and made quiche, so that's something.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 1 October 2004 09:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Wait - B. Dods was there! Wow! Sorry to have missed you, Billy.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Friday, 1 October 2004 09:48 (twenty-one years ago)

The picture of the Pinefox and Sgs is magnificent.

Also there is pure love in that Barry/Charlton pic.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 1 October 2004 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Great pics Ken. Good to see Martin made it out!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Friday, 1 October 2004 09:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Barry and Gareth make a lovely couple

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Friday, 1 October 2004 10:15 (twenty-one years ago)

their early 90s prog house records under the moniker "Urban Cowboys" were enjoyed by all

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 1 October 2004 10:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I AM PICKING TEH NOSE!!!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 1 October 2004 10:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Toby looks a bit like the eponymous Alien in that one.

(the moomin one is astonishing)

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 1 October 2004 10:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Just added another...

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Friday, 1 October 2004 10:43 (twenty-one years ago)

carsmile looked EVIL last night!

ken c (ken c), Friday, 1 October 2004 10:44 (twenty-one years ago)

i wasn't sleeping. i was saving my energy for my request. and those couches are insanely comfortable.

sainsbury's was out of EVERYTHING, rob is right. i ended up buying oven chips and cooking them while watching the debates. not quite enough instant gratification for hangover food, really.

colette (a2lette), Friday, 1 October 2004 11:17 (twenty-one years ago)

dave, why have you so many pictures of me?

aw, did i scare you ken?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 1 October 2004 11:20 (twenty-one years ago)

It's like Love actually

Andrew Voiceover (daveb), Friday, 1 October 2004 11:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Two surprise highlights:

1) Meeting Billy Dods. Top yin, big mon. Doc, it's a pity you missed him.

2) Alastair MacLean appearing, out of nowhere, band not in tow, to debate chords for 2 hours with the cocktail fruits of his publishing deal.

the bellefox, Friday, 1 October 2004 13:09 (twenty-one years ago)

It was a good night, and the Ethan/Minna DJ set was one of the best I've heard at any Club FT. Next month's special guest DJ (in that I only know for sure who one is, there may well be at least one more) will be a terrible let-down after that.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 1 October 2004 18:20 (twenty-one years ago)

aw, don't be nasty about matt, martin ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 1 October 2004 18:54 (twenty-one years ago)

(Matt is unsure he can do it, apparently, so he isn't the one, just in case anyone else thinks I meant him.)

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 1 October 2004 19:19 (twenty-one years ago)

What did ethan and minna play?

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 2 October 2004 10:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks for making me feel welcome. It was great to be able to put faces to names at last.

Highlight of the night for me was a toss up between Mark Sinker's dancing and The Pinefox's Keef Richards impersonation.

I'm afraid I'm going to miss Martin's set at the next club night, but I'll try to get down again sometime. Hopefully sooner rather later, and next time I'll warn you Dr C.

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Saturday, 2 October 2004 11:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Ethan and Minna played:

Partners in Kryme - Turtle Power
Limp Bizkit - Rollin (or some remix of it at any rate)
2 Unlimited - No Limit
Xtina - Dirrty
Outhere Brothers - Boom Boom Boom
Eminem - The Real Slim Shady
Prodigy - Breathe
Jive Bunny and the Mastermixers - Swing The Mood
Enya - Orinoco Flow (!!!!!!!)
Puff Daddy and Faith Evans - I'll Be Missing You
Sugababes - Hole In The Head

And probably a load of stuff I've forgotten.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 2 October 2004 16:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Was 'Breathe' number one? Cor.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Sunday, 3 October 2004 09:18 (twenty-one years ago)

what else other than 'Turtle Power' and 'Pump Up The Volume' has now been played at both Club Populars?

aw who cares

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Monday, 4 October 2004 09:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Much that I heard at the club, I did not recognize as a #1 hit record.

the bellefox, Tuesday, 5 October 2004 11:43 (twenty-one years ago)

in terms of quality or in terms of memory?

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 11:45 (twenty-one years ago)
