Emilymv (Emilymv), Friday, 22 October 2004 14:05 (twenty-one years ago)

oops, bombarded.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Friday, 22 October 2004 14:05 (twenty-one years ago)

The funny thing is a friend of a friend recently revealed himself to be none other than the ex-husband of Ms. Coulter's sister, Beth. Apparently he realized the dread mistake he was making.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 22 October 2004 14:09 (twenty-one years ago)

whoa! how did the sisters compare?

Emilymv (Emilymv), Friday, 22 October 2004 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm so proud of my town right now.

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Friday, 22 October 2004 14:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Too bad they weren't concrete and twisted metal pies.

Michael White (Hereward), Friday, 22 October 2004 14:23 (twenty-one years ago)

if i'd been there i would have tried to drop an anvil on her.

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Friday, 22 October 2004 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

'Ann Coulter' - The Warner Bros. cartoon.

Michael White (Hereward), Friday, 22 October 2004 14:28 (twenty-one years ago)

They should have just thrown a bucket of water on her so she would melt.

Leon Czolgosz (Nicole), Friday, 22 October 2004 14:28 (twenty-one years ago)

whoa! how did the sisters compare?

I'm honestly afraid to ask.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 22 October 2004 14:28 (twenty-one years ago)

It's times like this, Ned, where the expression, "Ignorance is bliss" really starts to make sense.

Michael White (Hereward), Friday, 22 October 2004 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Hehe.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 22 October 2004 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Take him to a bar and ply him with drink.

k3rry (dymaxia), Friday, 22 October 2004 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

If he came close to marrying a Coulter, he probably drinks a lot already.

Michael White (Hereward), Friday, 22 October 2004 14:34 (twenty-one years ago)

This story is making me sad, actually. The guys get arrested, the evil one only takes a shot to the shoulder, and THERE'S NO PHOTO!

briania (briania), Friday, 22 October 2004 14:35 (twenty-one years ago)

And probably just inflated her sense of self-importance.

Leon Czolgosz (Nicole), Friday, 22 October 2004 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

If she doesn't get a full-on pie bukkake, it's just a waste of good custard.

briania (briania), Friday, 22 October 2004 14:41 (twenty-one years ago)

They should have thrown babies at her.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 22 October 2004 14:41 (twenty-one years ago)

And probably just inflated her

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 22 October 2004 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

"Two Arrested for Hurling Pies at Columnist" The subtitle was omitted curiously - which said, "And subsequently congratulated when it was revealed to be not a columnist at all, but mereley a venomous cunt."

dave225 (Dave225), Friday, 22 October 2004 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

What kind of pies were they? Were they ricin-creme pies by any chance?

Dale Panopticalis (cprek), Friday, 22 October 2004 16:44 (twenty-one years ago)

My only regret about this otherwise joyous news is that the pies weren't filled with angry hornets.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 22 October 2004 16:44 (twenty-one years ago)

If I was God Homey the Clown would appear behind her, announcing that he doesn't play dat and putting that sock full of sand to use.

The number 1 thing wrong with that book cover: IT HAS ANN COULTER ON IT.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 22 October 2004 17:58 (twenty-one years ago)

If it had to be actual pies, and not any of the Special Novelty Pies mentioned above, it would have been way cooler if they actually had fed them to her.

Layna Andersen (Layna Andersen), Friday, 22 October 2004 17:58 (twenty-one years ago)

is that a leather vest
-- sometimes i like to pretend i am very small and warm (hot.air.balloo...), October 22nd, 2004.

It is a hard, leather-like exoskeleton that grows as a protective shell over the thorax of the beast in the first year after it emerges from its larval state.

briania (briania), Friday, 22 October 2004 18:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I had assumed it was vinyl for easy clean up after sucking up to various right-wing, corporate interests.

She's an ugly little freak. It cracks me up how both Rep's and Dem's give her looks the "thumbs up" and yet say Kerry looks like Frankenstein. SHE looks like Frankenstein! With scrawny legs, big ears and a downward-turning blank expression.

I HATE HER, Friday, 22 October 2004 18:27 (twenty-one years ago)

The fact the Coulter looks like The Crypt-Keeper doesn't stop Kerry from looking like Frankenstein's monster.

briania (briania), Friday, 22 October 2004 19:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Okay, never mind, I read the text. As you were.

briania (briania), Friday, 22 October 2004 19:03 (twenty-one years ago)

One of my younger female cousins (currently in college) sees her as her number one role model. She (cousin) has a dream of putting an end to feminism.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 22 October 2004 19:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Have you considered selling said cousin to hobos?

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 22 October 2004 19:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Her parents are really proud of her. When she was 12 she wrote a peice on the importance of courting that ended up on the cover on some big right-wing christian newsletter.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 22 October 2004 19:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Is that a yes, then?

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 22 October 2004 19:26 (twenty-one years ago)

So how many pills does she pop per day, anyway.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 22 October 2004 19:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, the whole thing makes me kind of sad. She was a child genius of sorts but her parents raised her to be this freak of nature. She means well. :-( But then she makes jokes with my uncles about hitting feminists on the head with 2-by-4s.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 22 October 2004 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Have you tried hitting her on the head with a 2x4?

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 22 October 2004 19:29 (twenty-one years ago)

She's very open-minded. She even has some jewish friends (Ie: Jews for Jesus).

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 22 October 2004 19:34 (twenty-one years ago)

At this point, you're just trying to make me cry.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 22 October 2004 19:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I refuse to believe that Jews for Jesus really exist.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Friday, 22 October 2004 19:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Jeez for Jewish.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 22 October 2004 19:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually point out that those jokes means she likes violence and is a bad person. When she claims otherwise call her a liar. Fun!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 22 October 2004 19:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Do you think we can persuade the Israel Dairy Marketing Board to rename itself "Jews For Cheeses"?

caitlin (caitlin), Friday, 22 October 2004 19:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, I don't think that would work, Ned. Another cousin of mine is giving his son a gun for his 3rd birthday. They (my relatives) all believe boys should be given guns and taught how to use them as early on as possible so that they can protect themselves in this horrible evil world.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 22 October 2004 19:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Against whom? THEMSELVES?

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 22 October 2004 19:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I think against people like me...

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 22 October 2004 19:48 (twenty-one years ago)

.. and foreigners...

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 22 October 2004 19:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 22 October 2004 19:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 22 October 2004 19:49 (twenty-one years ago)

They (my relatives) all believe boys should be given guns and taught how to use them as early on as possible so that they can protect themselves in this horrible evil world.

You can tell them to use them against themselves and then they'll meet Jesus much more quickly. (I'm not helping, am I?)

"[A]n act of terrorism was committed against me."

Seriously, that's outrageously self-centered. Other people have to have their building blown up to be terrorized, she has to be almost hit with a pie. I'm sure if a non-white foreigner was hit by a pie in a third world country, she'd call it "terrorism". Arrogance, the central plank of the conservative platform.

wetmink (wetmink), Thursday, 28 October 2004 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

It's certainly the central plank of Ann Coulter's public persona.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 28 October 2004 19:29 (twenty-one years ago)

From a Land of Grass Without Mirrors (AaronHz), Thursday, 28 October 2004 19:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Sir Kingfish Beavis D'Azzmonch (Kingfish), Thursday, 28 October 2004 20:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I love her. I'm currently re-reading Treason.

I like how, when it's somebody who maybe doesn't have the support of Bono or something, all 'politically correct' bets are off. Talk of Nigerian cocks and hitting people in the face with aircraft is all part of the fun. I guess that makes Condoleeza, what? Am I going to have to start hearing 'nigger' jokes from you people, now?

Typical. And sad.

Are you into Dr. Laura, too, and her thoughts on family values? For fuck's sake.

Clusterfuck at the Baja Fresh Salsa Bar (Ben Boyer), Thursday, 28 October 2004 21:17 (twenty-one years ago)

"an affront to all intelligent discourse."

funny, that's sorta how I feel about Michael "Bennifer" Moore and his horde celebrity hangers-on

Not so much for being 'ridiculous' as much as being so transparently inconsistent and insincere and self serving in everything he does. Have you seen the cover to that "Will They Ever Trust us Again" book? Jesus Christ.

I'm kind of tempted to read one of Coulter's tracts - I'm not a very angry person, and my only rage outlet is reading political books I find unpleasant. I've just started Milton (and Rose!) Friedman's Free to Choose, and it's delivering the goods. I hate reading books by people I agree with.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Thursday, 28 October 2004 21:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Thursday, 28 October 2004 21:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I will spell this out for you, Roger, as it appears that you can't read:

1) Most of the people on this thread make the same kind of hyperbolic vitriolic comments about Bono as they have about Ann Coulter, so the basis of your argument is already an imaginary strawman.

2) The purpose of the comments is to highlight, given her public persona and public agenda, the Ann Coulter Boogeyman (a scary dark-skinned foreign male) and use it to frighten her, not because the Boogeyman in and of itself is something that people should be afraid of, but because Ann Coulter is a hoorible person who should be tortured by what appears to be her worst fear.

3) You are the one who said the next logical step is to call Condeleeza Rice a nigger when no one had said anything about her or about calling anyone a racial epithet. If you are seriously going to argue that there is no difference between ridiculing the fact that someone appears to be irrationally afraid of black people and calling a black person a nigger, then you are an astoundingly stupid racist.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 28 October 2004 21:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, the question wasn't directed at me, but I was always pretty repulsed by this gem of yours, Roger:

From the "What Crazy Prejudices Do You Harbour?" thread:

"Oh and I find I have very little patience for fat black women in the service industry. And neither do you.
-- roger adultery (vlad62...), September 13th, 2004."

When I tried to take exception with that, the retort was something like "Oh please, how many fat black women do you know?" or something equally brilliant.

But what does that even MEAN? Are you honestly going to attempt to defend your stupid, offensive-on-several-levels screed against "fat black women in the service industry" by asking me that question again?! You recognize how idiotic that is, right?!?

And what about those of us who DO have "real life encounters" with people of varying races, creeds, and sexual orientations -- including the occasional horrifying fast food order fuck-up from a minority -- and still think you're spouting an unending torrent of bullshit with this stuff?

Clusterfuck at the Baja Fresh Salsa Bar (Ben Boyer), Thursday, 28 October 2004 22:21 (twenty-one years ago)

See, the fact of the matter is this: Like my favorite target Michael Moore, most of you self-identified liberals preach to the choir, and very rarely encounter 'real life' situations in which to exercise your righteousness on behalf of all races, creeds, and sexual orientations. This is actually very Coulteresque. Roger, upon what objective facts do you base this jeremiad? I encounter real-life situations all the time in which I speak my mind. I am the whitest white boy you'll ever see, living between projects and the Castro and I make a point of being polite and gracious to everyone....at first. Last week, however, I helped a black lady and her son forcibly escort a racist, homophobic (and probably psychotic) tourist off the bus after he was told to 'please be quiet' five times. He was shouting racial abuse and some really vile homophobic stuff and he looked to me for support. I live in a city full of people from all over the globe and I get the opportunity to expound my opinions regarding intolerance and ignorance all the time.

Michael White (Hereward), Thursday, 28 October 2004 22:23 (twenty-one years ago)

We didn't stop to exchange niceties so I don't know. The bus was crowded, everyone was tired from their day at work and dud's just yelling shit out and the lady told him basically, 'We don't care. Can you please keep your voice down,' and he starts giving her shit. Everyone's getting weirded out, especially 'cause hearing a 20ish white guy saying racist stuff to a 40 year old black lady on a bus whose population is like 30% black and finally her son just tells him it's time for him to get off and he starts pushing back and we all three of us just pushed him out the door. The some lady starts yelling at the bus driver that the bus driver should have done something about it. I'd had enough shouting and tension at that point so I ditched at the next stop.

Adorable.

I'd just like to re-address the inconsistency of the political incorrectness of the earlier posts, pertaining to Nigerian cocks and terrorist planes.

Dan Perry said it 'wasn't the same thing' when I brought Condoleeza into it.

Fair enough. You need a perfect analogy. Here's one for INSIDE the box, just for you:

Would it be fair, then, to say that if all Ann Coulter needs is a big Nigerian cock, that Andrea Dworkin could use the same?

Or is that not allowed? Because I'd say that anyone who suggested that all Andrea Dworkin needed was a good cock, well, I'd swear that was homophobic, and thus, forbidden. No?

Ann Coulter doesn't like dark-skinned foreigners so much and thinks we should bombs their countries back to the stone age and force them to see our way, therefore she is deserving of scorn. Andrea Dworkin likes women, not men, therefore is a lesbian.

but we're getting off topic. Andrea Dworkin is not involved and a compare/contrast is reductive. The question is does Ann Coulter deserve to be taken seriously, is she someone to be admired? of course not. She's a typical "me first" sort of thinker who runs at the first sign of pie and is unwilling or unable to see other viewpoints. And for god's sake, she's a terrible fucking writer too.

Hopefully this will be my final post to this thread and to Roger:

The only thing that Ann Coulter does which is in any way admirable is that she does not run away from confrontation with people who disagree with her (unless of course they have pies, ha). HOWEVER, the positions she is so staunchly defending are abhorrent and repellent, largely because if the country were to follow through on them I would be on the chopping block long before you, Roger, and there's no fucking way I'm going to support or stand behind someone who very clearly has nothing but contempt for me; furthermore, seeing as I'm not a saint, there's no fucking way I'm going to have anything but contempt for her.

Is that clear enough for you?

Ann Coulter and Michael Moore are both professional wrestlers of politics. They put on a show for us to cheer or boo, depending on our politics.

Liberals can excoriate Coulter for her excessive slenderness. Conservatives can mock Moore for his excessive fat. I don't really see these approaches as remotely different.
