The message board element became terrible after things didn't work out, and in fact ended very badly. Overnight, my favorite place to go on the web - a place where I had cultivated some good long-distance friendships, and been one of the more visible regulars - became an awful reminder of everything that had gone wrong with the relationship. To make things worse, the person I had been involved with was still posting there daily. So I simply had to stop going there.

I've been ILXing for less than a year, really like it here, and I don't want to do anything to potentially fuck that up. I know this is kind of a joke thread, and I don't mean to be a fun-hater. It's just a topic that I feel strongly about.

Argh, see, I spent the night bus ride home trying to explain to my drunk and rather upset former housemate that ILX was NOT a dating site, and NOT a place to hook up, so please calm down and chillax, and then there's threads like this that go and besmirch and ruin that good, pure reputation.

I've still never hooked up with an ILXor. I feel like this makes me weird or something. OK, I once made the mistake of introducing someone I was sleeping with to ILX, but that was quite a big mistake. But then again, so was dating him in the first place, so I guess that makes it even.

I think the thing that stops me most from hooking up with another ILX0r is the thought that ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS WILL KNOW!!!

It's one thing to talk about some bloke that you're shagging in perfectly frank and honest terms. But when ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS KNOW THEM that turns it from "advice seeking and confessional" into OH MY GOD, ICK, ACK, WAAAAYYYY TOO MUCH INFORMATION. And they would be able to add their own two cents. And it would just be all different kinds of wrong.

I think there are a lot of people who've never hooked up with another ILXer (I haven't, for instance), though obviously plenty have.

I think I've made it clear before that there are dozens of ILXers who I find very attractive on many areas, and I don't propose to embarrass anyone by singling just one person out (anyway, that person knows who they are, which is what matters).

Well I could name quite a lot, yes. Well into double figures - mostly publicly known, a few not. Some one-night things (I suspect I know about only a very small minority of such, and suspect a few others, but there will be some, perhaps many, I know nothing of), some longer term - I guess we can't count Chris & Vicky here, as they met on Sinister, but besides Tom & Ally, there are several other couples past and current who met through ILX. There were two such (besides C&V) to my certain knowledge at Club FT this week, for instance.

I guess few people discuss these things on the board, which for someone not living in a major ILX centre probably makes it seem less common.
