now that the sky has gone black and the creatures of the fetid muck roam the moonless land howling for blood...NOW what do you look like?

Starting yet another show-your-face thread for the mere reason that one of my friends actually put a picture of me up from a Halloween party last week. Voici la: http://meanderthal.typepad.com/photos/halloween/jessie.html.

gypsy mothra (gypsy mothra), Friday, 5 November 2004 09:18 (twenty-one years ago)

(the "costume" as such was supposed to be like a grown-up Harry Potter, since I already have the glasses; mostly it was just me in a cape.)

gypsy mothra (gypsy mothra), Friday, 5 November 2004 09:19 (twenty-one years ago)

That's a colourful beer you are drinking - what is it?

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Friday, 5 November 2004 09:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Can't remember. Something that was in the fridge. A microbrew beginning with H, apparently. I think it was good.

gypsy mothra (gypsy mothra), Friday, 5 November 2004 09:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Ha, well, it was some photographer for the local college paper, I didn't even know he was there. I said I would credit him if I used it on my website, maybe I should have made it more subtle though. :>

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 5 November 2004 16:10 (twenty-one years ago)

So, Jordan, who took that picture of you?
Hahahahahahahaha!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Friday, 5 November 2004 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm just yankin' yr chain, it's a cool pic.
LauraE, are you giving a news conference?

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 5 November 2004 16:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Also, Jordan, are you still coming to see the Fake Fictions in Madison in a couple of weeks (the 20th)?

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 5 November 2004 16:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, that's a heavy-duty mic stand.

x-post, yeah Nick, I'm pretty sure that I am. I'm driving to Minneapolis the night before to drop my girlfriend off at the airport, but I'm pretty sure that I'm going to come back the afternoon of the 20th.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 5 November 2004 16:28 (twenty-one years ago)

xxpost, I'm singing at a bar.

Laura E (laurae55), Friday, 5 November 2004 16:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Are you singing jazz at a jazz bar? I only ask because of the Jazzfest poster behind you.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 5 November 2004 16:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Btw Nick, I don't know when you guys will be getting into town that day, but if everything works out we should all go get some of teh beer before the show.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 5 November 2004 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost, I'm singing at a Japanese bar whose genre varies from night to night.

Laura E (laurae55), Friday, 5 November 2004 16:37 (twenty-one years ago)

We'll probably be getting in about midday, since we're just driving from Milwaukee, where we're playing the night before, but I'm not sure what we'll be doing since our drummer knows like a million people in Madison and we have friends there too. But email me yr phone no.: naamme @ yahoo.com.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 7 November 2004 19:22 (twenty-one years ago)

And a Stax shirt that was "there"?

Casuistry (Chris P), Sunday, 7 November 2004 19:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, surely that should be "and a Stax shirt worn with flair" or "..., a Stax shirt he would wear"

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Sunday, 7 November 2004 19:44 (twenty-one years ago)

"a Stax shirt...I declare!"

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 7 November 2004 19:45 (twenty-one years ago)

i didn't actually make it to the Peaches thing, but at the bar i went to, it was so hoity toity. everybody was so fucking gorgeous, but in a weird way that didn't make me attracted to them (well some of them). every time i come home i just feel all weirded out by the hollywood model/actor types. the styles and shit. i know SF has scenesters that are just as annoying, but for some reason it doesn't bother me as much. and SF is a really ugly city. the people & clothes are just really unnatractive. so both have their downsides, but i just feel more comfortable here.

Spencer, I think there is no other statement in the world that could sum you up more perfectly. (Except maybe you then saying that you ran into Timbaland and talked about grime.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 11 November 2004 02:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha. Well, I'm hoping my sum up statement would indicate a bit more depth, but perhaps I *am* easy to please.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 11 November 2004 02:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Sir, you have plenty of depth! Okay, how about this, you and Timbaland talk about grime and *then* you play on his well known Matrix love to talk about Derrida and questions of reality and he commissions you to work with him on a pop/concept/video masterpiece on the subject.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 11 November 2004 02:22 (twenty-one years ago)

mark p (Mark P), Friday, 12 November 2004 16:49 (twenty-one years ago)

sorry n/a, you just look a lot like Potter there

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Friday, 12 November 2004 16:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Friday, 12 November 2004 17:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, I haven't read any of the Potter books or seen any of the movies because I AM COOLER THAN ALL OF YOU.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 12 November 2004 17:14 (twenty-one years ago)

The third movie was v. good, and had David Thewlis. There's a surprise at the end: he turns into a wretched nihilist.

Kenan (kenan), Friday, 12 November 2004 17:20 (twenty-one years ago)

the glasses are to combat the "doofus" thing, right, n/a? It works!

p.s. I got your CD! Will listen to it today!

miccio (miccio), Friday, 12 November 2004 17:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh cool.
For the long story of why I was wearing my glasses, you can read TITTWIS, but essentially I purchased some foul demon contact lens solution that scorched the shit out of my eye, made it all red and burny, so I wore my glasses for a couple of days.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 12 November 2004 17:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I think he's hot in his glasses >> I am attracted to Harry Potter! OMG!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 12 November 2004 17:30 (twenty-one years ago)

He looks kinda Tobey Maguire. Or Josh Gennet from indie combo Holiday.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 12 November 2004 17:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, don't get me wrong! I like the glasses! Wear them myself. I used to do contacts but I kinda like not having to shriek that my eyes are on fire every morning.

miccio (miccio), Friday, 12 November 2004 17:33 (twenty-one years ago)

It makes you like like you're in your secret identity.

Kenan (kenan), Friday, 12 November 2004 17:34 (twenty-one years ago)

by day, harry potter. by night, daniel radcliffe.

mark p (Mark P), Friday, 12 November 2004 17:35 (twenty-one years ago)

by night, GREG DULLI!

miccio (miccio), Friday, 12 November 2004 17:35 (twenty-one years ago)

that too

mark p (Mark P), Friday, 12 November 2004 17:36 (twenty-one years ago)

oh and I've never seen a harry potter movie or read a harry potter book so I'm also cooler than all of you.

miccio (miccio), Friday, 12 November 2004 17:40 (twenty-one years ago)

except me.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 12 November 2004 17:43 (twenty-one years ago)

me neither.

mark p (Mark P), Friday, 12 November 2004 17:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Anthony, I stressed out a little making that mix cd because everything I was going to put on, I'd think "Well, surely he's already heard that," and I'd skip on to something else, which is totally irrational since I have no idea what music you own, it was just based on some imaginary version of you that I actually "know" in my head instead of the real you. But I listened to the mix on my iPod and it was pretty good so whatever. I think that Papas Fritas song wasn't supposed to be at the end, I just forgot to move it before I burned the cd.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 12 November 2004 17:46 (twenty-one years ago)

The only thing listed I know I've heard is the Blood Brothers (who are pretty good, so no worries). Don't sweat it!

miccio (miccio), Friday, 12 November 2004 17:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I have read all the Harry Potter books and seen the first two movies, but not the last, so I am cooler than very few of you.

I agree that Nick in glasses = k-rowr, however.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 12 November 2004 17:48 (twenty-one years ago)

But the last movie is the best because it means that you get to see David Thewlis, Timothy Spall and Alan Rickman and perhaps Gary Oldman I can't remember get in a fight.
I think you look nice with glasses, too.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Friday, 12 November 2004 18:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Well fuck these contacts then.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 12 November 2004 18:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I think maybe I'll just start switching between contacts and glasses more often, depending on how I feel.

Yeah, that bear is just south of the MET in central park. It and its cohorts are in a little children's playground area. That one was a little mean for my tastes, though.

KeithW (kmw), Monday, 15 November 2004 00:20 (twenty-one years ago)

that is easy--catching them is the hard bit.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 15 November 2004 00:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha.

Watch Rocky; he has a few hints about catching chickens. They could apply to pigs too.

KeithW (kmw), Monday, 15 November 2004 00:23 (twenty-one years ago)

that was at edinburgh zoo, in august, by the by.

do they have chickens, at the zoo?

RJG (RJG), Monday, 15 November 2004 00:26 (twenty-one years ago)

For some reason it seems natural that the first time I should see RJG he should be riding a pig.

Andrew (enneff), Monday, 15 November 2004 00:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Well no,

But they have chickens at Gorgie City Farm just opposite Tynecastle if you're interested. I strongly suspect they have chickens in Glasgow too.

I hope no-one sponsored the pigs by the way; they'll be after you.

I can see the "African Plains" in Edinburgh zoo out of my windows. I want to get a pair of binoculars and recreate the moment where Father Dougal looks through them and sees a herd of gazelle.

KeithW (kmw), Monday, 15 November 2004 00:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Some zoos have a farm bit.

The RJG-pig picture is my favourite picture that I've ever taken.

man, what is it with me and peoples perception of me?

i have been told i look like ben affleck (wtf?!?!?!) by some russian girls, maybe they had never seen him before or something, but although i look nothing like him, now i am being told that i look like this ed o brien dude or ryan gigs!!!!!

i dont ook anything like them either?

the kids at my school used to call me benali, after the famous southampton player, francis benali. i think y'all must be mental or something

personally i wish i looked this dude, mainly cos he has such aa radical name!

I'm a little disappointed to discover that Ambrose isn't the spitting image of Gareth, only in some weird inverse colour scheme or something.
