Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 22 November 2004 19:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Blimey there'll be more NYCIlxers in London than NYC this weekend.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 22 November 2004 19:17 (twenty-one years ago)

it'll be so lovely meeting you, geeta. cant wait. fabric 27th. going to be scary.

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 22 November 2004 19:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Monday then, how about 'the Lamb'?

Ed (dali), Monday, 22 November 2004 19:19 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't think i've been to the lamb, but i trust ed's judgement.

monday at the lamb then?

geeta, Monday, 22 November 2004 19:49 (twenty-one years ago)

sounds good - this is the 'nigh on impossible to find' pub tho right?

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Monday, 22 November 2004 19:51 (twenty-one years ago)

No, I can't remember which one that is. We could make it 'the little' (duke) of York.

http://www.fancyapint.com/main_site/thepubs/pub340.htm

Ed (dali), Monday, 22 November 2004 20:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I WONDER WHY YOU THINK THAT, THEN?

I second the Lamb.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 22 November 2004 23:21 (twenty-one years ago)

is monday cool? what time is best? (any time is fine with me)

geeta, Monday, 22 November 2004 23:29 (twenty-one years ago)

theoretically i could bring my parents on the monday. i don't think it's a very good idea, though.

toby (tsg20), Monday, 22 November 2004 23:36 (twenty-one years ago)

geeta (geeta), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 00:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 07:23 (twenty-one years ago)

We had a small fap there once, kate, mark s, martin gareth, possibly PJ I seem to recall.

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 07:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 09:58 (twenty-one years ago)

lamblamb lamby lamb.

so does "the christmas season" officially begin with this FAP? :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 10:16 (twenty-one years ago)

i think i've been to the lamb before! i like that one.

geeta (geeta), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 22:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I like the Lamb but I won't go back to that neighbourhood, old Uncle George was right about the Hellmouth being in Bloomsbury.

The Little Duke would be good, though. Which day are we doing it on? I need to write it in my diary.

The Grain of Sand in Lambeth That Satan Cannot Find (kate), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Monday I think.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 11:54 (twenty-one years ago)

We had the Tombot + Ally FAP in the Lamb, IIRC.

RickyT (RickyT), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 11:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I might be in Epsom. I don't know. Can we have the FAP in Epsom? There is the roughest "Fancy A Fight?" pub in the world there at the end of the market, called The Albion so I want to go in there and quote Blake and see how quickly I get punched.

The Grain of Sand in Lambeth That Satan Cannot Find (kate), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

oh i thought that was something else but you're right.

xpost

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 11:57 (twenty-one years ago)

The Lamb's hellish if it's busy, was the ally+tom fap on a friday? It's not too bad mid-week, fingers crossed!

Vicky (Vicky), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 11:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I know I can't avoid Bloomsbury forever, but please not The Lamb. Please?

The Grain of Sand in Lambeth That Satan Cannot Find (kate), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 12:02 (twenty-one years ago)

revive!!

is it the lamb, then? have we decided yet? i'm leaving NYC in a few hours...my crappy cell phone isn't gonna work in london i think, but i'll be staying at gareth's and checking this thread often

geeta (geeta), Thursday, 25 November 2004 16:37 (twenty-one years ago)

yes. lamb. see you. monday.

:)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 25 November 2004 16:39 (twenty-one years ago)

the lamb? oh sweet jesus - the home of pub rage, last time I was there I stormed out, bloody idiots, bloody crap seating, bloody door smacking me in the back of the head.

Porkpie (porkpie), Thursday, 25 November 2004 16:41 (twenty-one years ago)

If anything changes, I'll call gareth.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 25 November 2004 17:11 (twenty-one years ago)

if i'm still in town, i'll come!

phil-two (phil-two), Thursday, 25 November 2004 17:12 (twenty-one years ago)

hasn't suzy ensnared you as a minion anyway?

Ed (dali), Thursday, 25 November 2004 17:14 (twenty-one years ago)

There appears to be a bit of vociferous anti-Lamb feeling here - I suspect it'll be fine on a Monday night but are there any decent local alternatives? I barely know the area...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 25 November 2004 17:15 (twenty-one years ago)

The Little duke is very nice, good beer and food and relatively quiet on a monday night.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 25 November 2004 17:16 (twenty-one years ago)

http://www.fancyapint.com/main_site/thepubs/pub340.htm

for those that don't scroll back.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 25 November 2004 17:16 (twenty-one years ago)

ha ha that time I'm talking about I rang Tim while I was there just to whinge at him about how awful it was

lovely snob screens though x-post of course

Porkpie (porkpie), Thursday, 25 November 2004 17:16 (twenty-one years ago)

hasn't suzy ensnared you as a minion anyway?

yes kinda. i might be in london longer than planned.

phil-two (phil-two), Thursday, 25 November 2004 17:19 (twenty-one years ago)

the lamb is that pub in the middle of nowhere, the one where ally/tombot fap was right?

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 25 November 2004 20:20 (twenty-one years ago)

i originally read this thread as "gareth in london nov 27-dec 2" and thought "oh cmon, he doesn't travel that much."

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 25 November 2004 20:50 (twenty-one years ago)

aw what, if you leave on the 2nd you miss sutekh at the wicked weird party!

ambrose (ambrose), Thursday, 25 November 2004 21:39 (twenty-one years ago)

arse, that looks good, I'm camping that weekend though.

Ed (dali), Friday, 26 November 2004 08:26 (twenty-one years ago)

camping? in december? blimey...

i am happy for the pub to change if it's the will of the people :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 26 November 2004 10:48 (twenty-one years ago)

LAMB! Purely because it's five minutes from my office and I can do super early doors and grab lovely banquette seating.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 26 November 2004 10:55 (twenty-one years ago)

i landed this morning...i'm here! in oxford til morning w. my little brother and then i'm heading over to london

any pub is fine with me for the fap! is it the lamb or is it not the lamb?

geeta, Friday, 26 November 2004 16:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Little duke then by order of the revolutionary steering comittee

Ed (dali), Friday, 26 November 2004 16:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Are there any plans for meeting up pre-Fabric?

RickyT (RickyT), Saturday, 27 November 2004 09:13 (twenty-one years ago)

not yet, but here, we could make those plans?

*@*.* (gareth), Saturday, 27 November 2004 09:22 (twenty-one years ago)

that might be a good idea. i don't even know where fabric is, though, so i will stay out of such plans.

toby (tsg20), Saturday, 27 November 2004 10:05 (twenty-one years ago)

We were thinking somewhere around hatton garden, we can update when phil barrels up (round 1ish)

Ed (dali), Saturday, 27 November 2004 10:20 (twenty-one years ago)

is phil going to your house today then ed? i should wake him up, perhaps

*@*.* (gareth), Saturday, 27 November 2004 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I am unclear as to where and when this FAP is happening! Is it this Monday, the 29th? And in the Lamb or the Little Duke?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 27 November 2004 11:36 (twenty-one years ago)

monday the 29th, yes. the pub seems to be a matter of debate.

toby (tsg20), Saturday, 27 November 2004 12:08 (twenty-one years ago)

(phil)
im awake, im awake. still not over the goddamn jet lag. ive been waking up every nite at 3am, then falling back asleep at 9am or so.. which actually corresponds to prime drinking hours in nyc time, so maybe its some sort of subconcious thing. what time are people headed to fabric?

*@*.* (gareth), Saturday, 27 November 2004 12:49 (twenty-one years ago)

There appears to be some strong anti-Lamb feeling, so Little Duke it is.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 27 November 2004 13:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm going to be doing some music on Monday evening (with another ILX0r, even!) so when is this FAP happening? Music making will happen about 6.30 or so. Can we meet early doors at the Little Duke? Or Ed, can I just text you when I get out of rehearsal and figure out where you lot are at?

I want to see Geeta! I want to see Geeta! ::bounces with excitement::

The Grain of Sand in Lambeth That Satan Cannot Find (kate), Saturday, 27 November 2004 13:23 (twenty-one years ago)

(And sorry to be so emphatically anti-Lamb, but seriously. Joe and I used to go there on a fairly regular basis, so not only does it now have bad memories associated with the place, but if I run into him in there, I will punch him.)

The Grain of Sand in Lambeth That Satan Cannot Find (kate), Saturday, 27 November 2004 13:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't get onto FancyAPint from home - my spyware protection seems to stop the pages loading properly. Can I have directions to the Little Duke, please?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 27 November 2004 14:02 (twenty-one years ago)

i probably won't make it to Fabric tonight now due to illness, sorry dudes

Frankenstein On Ice (blueski), Saturday, 27 November 2004 14:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I am currently torn between whether to go out tonight, get fucked up, and then drag myself out of bed and across London to the football match I'm watching, or to be good and then kick myself when Spurs lose 4-0.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 27 November 2004 14:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Martin - fancyapint says:

From Chancery Lane, head down Greys Inn Road. Cross over the junction with Theobald's/Clerkenwell Roads and Roger Street is 2nd on your left. From Holborn, head along High Holborn as far as Chancery Lane. Take a left into Greys Inn Road and then follow directions above. From Russell Square, turn right out of the tube station, then next right. Walk along Guilford Street and past Great Ormond Street hospital. After the hospital, take the third right, into Doughty Mews. After a while, Doughty Mews curves round to the left and turns into Roger Street.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 27 November 2004 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

matt and steve you are LAME. i hope you get better soon, though, steve - i ended up laming out of going out last night due to illness. it seems to have paid off, though, i'm feeling good for tonight.

toby (tsg20), Saturday, 27 November 2004 14:39 (twenty-one years ago)

ps mat - try listening to suck my deck or misch masch, that should make it easier to see that not coming out tonight would be madness...

toby (tsg20), Saturday, 27 November 2004 14:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I am currently torn between whether to go out tonight, get fucked up, and then drag myself out of bed and across London to the football match I'm watching, or to be good and then kick myself when Spurs lose 4-0.

easy answer. just don't go to bed!

*@*.* (gareth), Saturday, 27 November 2004 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I am coming out. Isn't peer pressure a wonderful thing?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 27 November 2004 16:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Now someone text me or otherwise get in touch with pub detail please.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 27 November 2004 16:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks for the directions, Matt! Also, if you have any time to kill before or after the match, bear in mind that I live 400 yards from the Spurs ground! I've emailed you my mobile number, just in case.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 27 November 2004 17:45 (twenty-one years ago)

geeta is due to arrive within the next half hour or so.

if there are no other plans, i suggest meeting at that pub that is between farringdon tube and fabric, on the corner, the one at the bottom of turnmill st

*@*.* (gareth), Saturday, 27 November 2004 18:02 (twenty-one years ago)

does it have a name?! what about a time?

toby (tsg20), Saturday, 27 November 2004 18:16 (twenty-one years ago)

G - what's the pub called? 9.00-9.30 alright for people?

Martin, thanks for the offer (I already have your number, but thanks anyway). It looks like my plans for before the match won't extend far beyond holding my head in my hands in hungover wretchedness. As opposed to after the match, when I will be merely holding my head in my hands in wretchedness.

Post-match is a possibility, but I am going with friends and they will probably have their own plans.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 27 November 2004 18:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Right, I am currently in Bermondsey, exhausted and covered in kitchen ming. I'm leaning in the direction of not coming, but am going to listen to the Tiefschwarz cd on the way home and see how I feel. If someone could post the pub details here, I'll check them when I get bacj,

RickyT (RickyT), Saturday, 27 November 2004 18:33 (twenty-one years ago)

change of plan.

duke of york, everyone knows that right? times, maybe 930ish, some will be there earlier though, i think we'll be aiming for 10ish

*@*.* (gareth), Saturday, 27 November 2004 18:38 (twenty-one years ago)

(phil)
i got stuck watching 'league of their own' and 'hercules: circle of fire' on TV at gareths house, but im going to take a shower then head over to the duke of york. rickyt, hope you come! :)

*@*.* (gareth), Saturday, 27 November 2004 19:02 (twenty-one years ago)

This is the Duke of York underneath Ed and Suzy's, right? I'll be there from 9.30, I think.

Can I bring an American to Fabric? She's not from NYC but she is very cool. Also, everyone else is bringing one and I don't want to feel left out.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 27 November 2004 19:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I am warming up with very loud Black Strobe and Tiefschwarz and Vitalic right now. I can't believe I considered staying in tonight.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 27 November 2004 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

just woke up from a longer-than-intended nap. going to whip up some dinner, should be there 9:30ish i guess.

am warming up with very, very loud nine inch nails. oh yeah.

i think you should bring an american, matt, i'm afraid i can't supply any myself though.

toby (tsg20), Saturday, 27 November 2004 19:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought you might be with friends, Matt, but thought I'd suggest it just in case. I'll see you Monday anyway, I expect.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 27 November 2004 20:04 (twenty-one years ago)

omg that was so good! maybe it's just an indication that i don't go out often enough, but i had such a great time... ivan smagghe was amazing, i thought, as were the lights in the second room (they may have been cliched to some, but i couldn't get enough of them).

other highlights:

matt deciding to leave, then coming back 2 mins later as hawtin/villalobos dropped 'rocker'.

the goth stuff that ivan smagghe played. i need a load of records that sound like that.

the tune that villalobos played at around 7am that sounded like a kid's toy but had a strange beat, and had a lot of people clapping along... it was so sweet, one of the nicest moments i've ever had on the dancefloor. i need to know what this record is!

hmm, i enjoy doing these things sober, it's partcularly funny when everyone else's drugs wear off and they fade out, while i feel like going on for ages. although it's probably a good thing i've come home, what with my parents arriving this afternoon.

thinking of which, it's time for bed...

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 28 November 2004 08:31 (twenty-one years ago)

hi, hmm, thinking about things I'm not sure if I'll make it, this is NOT because I don't like people or FAPs, but more because I just can't see myself leaving work and jumping on a train/bus to get there. It's depressing and in the new year I have to sort things out. So, really sorry in advance.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 28 November 2004 12:34 (twenty-one years ago)

hmm, sleeping pills after coming back from clubbing are so the way forward.

also, i don't understand the fabric hate at all now! we didn't have to queue all that long to get in, the bar queues were very short, it was easy to refill water bottles, the sound was really good... maybe it was a bit too crowded, but apart from that i though it was great. did anyone else notice that there's a kompakt night headlined by michael mayer in two weeks?!

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 28 November 2004 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought pretty much all of Ivan Smagghe's set was fantastic, and from the Mayer track onwards he was pretty much untouchable, especially when it went all Black Strobe goth death techno Vitalic pitchbending mentalism near the end. I really need to know what all that stuff was. And there was another great tune, earlier on, with the rolling melodic electro bassline, the first time the green laser came on. Why are lasers so fucking cool, anyway?

Also it was about 6am when Rocker was played, and there was no way I wasn't dancing to it. It felt like a triumphant return. Got back, had three and a half hours sleep and mystifyingly didn't feel like utter crap for the game today. Which we won. And we went to the Tottenham Swan on the way home. It is grim.

Best weekend in absolutely ages though, pretty much perfect.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 28 November 2004 18:58 (twenty-one years ago)

The half hour or so after that Mayer track was incredible. Cracking night, but I'm glad I left at quarter to seven. By the time I got in I was barely conscious. Fabric surprisingly nice, yes, but I thought it was a bit too full.

I would be totally up for Kompakt in a fortnight, only it's one of my oldest friends 30ths that night. Mind you, it *is* a sit down restaurant type thing, so maybe I could drag people along later. Hearing the Mayer track played out reminded me how much I want to hear more of that stuff in a club environment.

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 28 November 2004 19:21 (twenty-one years ago)

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 28 November 2004 19:21 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, i think i might be busy on the 18th, too; it is tempting though.

i just played rocker to my parents and they loved it!

it was just so good, as matt says all the vitalic/balck strobe stuff with the green laser was amazing, the most excited i've been in a club in ages. i'm sure i looked like a complete idiot waving my hands in the laser the whole time, but i really didn't care.

also dancing to that record that villalobos played at around 7am was the, uhh, "nicest" experience i've ever had in a club, maybe.

a fantastic night, anyway.

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 28 November 2004 19:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Hang on, I tht you said it was in a fortnight? I am free on the 18th!

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 28 November 2004 19:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I still don't really like "Rocker"!

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 28 November 2004 19:31 (twenty-one years ago)

LASERS are GRATE! I'm starting to be sold. Do they sell pints of bitter? Is there a "club dog" etc etc>

(I was tucked up in bed by 2am, you young tikes etc etc:))

Starry at home, Sunday, 28 November 2004 19:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Ronan, you are mad! You so should have come btw, the Smagghe stuff was right up your street.

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 28 November 2004 19:34 (twenty-one years ago)

This was a different mix of Rocker though, less verse-chorus-verse and more Ewan Pearson-type squelchiness.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 28 November 2004 19:35 (twenty-one years ago)

dancing to that record that villalobos played at around 7am was the, uhh, "nicest" experience i've ever had in a club, maybe.

Haha, wtf?!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 28 November 2004 19:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish I could have been there!

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 28 November 2004 19:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Me too!

marianna lcl (marianna lcl), Sunday, 28 November 2004 19:45 (twenty-one years ago)

(phil)
oh my head. just rolled out of bed. ugggh.

*@*.* (gareth), Sunday, 28 November 2004 19:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I've just checked the Kompakt site, and the Mayer/R.Voigt/Fehlmann night is the 18th. I can't think of any reason why I shouldn't go to this.

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 28 November 2004 21:01 (twenty-one years ago)

ha, while you were enjoying that we were at the waterfront in Norwich for indie night where I had a mid life crisis and nearly blubbed when sodding Reef of all things filled the dancefloor.

I was incredulous throughout most of the night

Porkpie (porkpie), Sunday, 28 November 2004 21:12 (twenty-one years ago)

oh yeah, the 18th is in three weeks. oops. and i have nothing in my diary for that night! perhaps we should all go.

dancing to that record that villalobos played at around 7am was the, uhh, "nicest" experience i've ever had in a club, maybe.

Haha, wtf?!

yeah, i can't really explain much better than that - it was like some ridiculous e moment, i guess. i felt like i was on drugs most of the night, even though i was sober.

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 28 November 2004 22:51 (twenty-one years ago)

i mean, it sounded like a kid's toy, and everyone was clapping along to this off-kilter beat and smiling. it was like we were back in primary school again. oh dear.

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 28 November 2004 22:58 (twenty-one years ago)

God that sounded fantastic. I on the other hand ended up in a very shitty house party where there was no food, and I didn't even make it to GAY to see Girls Aloud.

The Lex (The Lex), Sunday, 28 November 2004 23:03 (twenty-one years ago)

glad to hear it was a great night, quite annoyed i couldn't make it. other things i missed saturday night included my friend's birthday drinks at the Vibe bar, and er, Girls Aloud...

would like to go see Mayer tho

Frankenstein On Ice (blueski), Sunday, 28 November 2004 23:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Mayer played Fabric not too long ago, Ellen Allien was also on the bill. End of September? I went and it was pretty fucking awesome.

The Lex (The Lex), Sunday, 28 November 2004 23:15 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah i am planning to go to the mayer/voight night

it is the day after my term finishes so might get ruined

fabric is a wierd one. they havehad a consistenly good music policy for the last year maybe, it is dead famous so you get loads of random people from the home counties eg Hemel/Watford on a night out. I think only 40% of the people go there knowing who is playing which si what makes it goo,d its sort of like, you hear the music in an envornoment where instead of being "disco for geeky techno people" or soemthimg, it is treated as just bangin dance music, like last time i went, portable, of all people, the uber clicky dry producer was rocking the floor and everyone was loving it, and mike shannons set made everyone crazy!
it is so weird but good. i love the bizarre tension between ugly corporate super club where verything costs 300000£ and well, a club with wicked music and an amazing soundsystem.

seriously, i dont wnat to hear tunes like those on an inferior system. like my friend said, seeing ajkuefn at his first time at fabric, it sounds beautiful.

dont forget, its not fabric, and geeta wont be there, but more minimal stuff on the 3rd, sutekh playing a warehouse in stoke neington.

ambrose (ambrose), Sunday, 28 November 2004 23:45 (twenty-one years ago)

last month mayer was awesome they rocked this sickly green lighting and eveyone was in clinging white shirts unbuttoned, it was a totally euphoric trance a thon and fucking crazy.
ellen allien was good that night too but a little too much big beatish electro. i wish they had lasers in both rooms! why cant lasers be just the norm, and lose thier cheesy associations! clearly, they look wicked, and are the only justification for pumping smoke into a club!

ambrose (ambrose), Sunday, 28 November 2004 23:48 (twenty-one years ago)

those lasers were the best thing ever. staring at them made me feel like i was lying on the floor inside a giant pyramid. i guess that's the idea though.

ricky t was a bit dismissive of them though, he made me feel young and naive. which is fair enough.

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 28 November 2004 23:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Was I? I didn't mean to be!

RickyT (RickyT), Monday, 29 November 2004 00:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow. Never actually have been to Fabric EVER until last night. Ambrose OTM about clientele and atmosphere. I've been mildly fractious/busy because of a work thing so apologies for being so highly strung.

Geeta - Tues morn, my place. We'll do a proper post-mortem then!

suzy (suzy), Monday, 29 November 2004 01:01 (twenty-one years ago)

can we use yr guestlist next time? ;)

ambrose (ambrose), Monday, 29 November 2004 01:11 (twenty-one years ago)

it's a little depressing that the last time i stayed out all night dancing and was really excited about it and resolved to go out dancing way more was a year ago:

t raumschmiere, miss kittin, andy weatherall, fortress, friday night

toby (tsg20), Monday, 29 November 2004 08:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyway, its looking unlikely I'm going to be out tonight. Sorry Geeta, but I am still feeling dodgy through lack of sleep over the weekend and going out again really doesn't seem a sensible idea at the moment. Especially as the end of this week looks like being a bit heavy as well.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 29 November 2004 11:19 (twenty-one years ago)

lightweight

Frankenstein On Ice (blueski), Monday, 29 November 2004 11:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I will still come out tonight! Hopefully I will get a NEU HAIRCUT this lunchtime too so surely that's a draw, MDC? Surely?

Starry (hello chickens), Monday, 29 November 2004 11:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Will it make you look like an French?

RickyT (RickyT), Monday, 29 November 2004 11:25 (twenty-one years ago)

can't make it tonight sorry. ill called in sick and probably pub not best idea and no idea where this fap is anymore! have fun at lamb/duke/fabric etc.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 29 November 2004 11:29 (twenty-one years ago)

It depends on whether I will be able to find an Hairdresser first! I don't want to go to the same place I went to last time because, well, I'm scared of them. Apparently there's a place on Store Street but they don't know if it's a man or lady hairdresser.

Anyone know a good hairdresser within lunchtime visiting walking distance of Goodge Street anyone?

Starry (hello chickens), Monday, 29 November 2004 11:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Mr Toppers hoho.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 29 November 2004 11:33 (twenty-one years ago)

mr topper xpost

ken c (ken c), Monday, 29 November 2004 11:33 (twenty-one years ago)

YOU YOUNG JAPESTERS I said GOOD hairdressers!

Unless I do just go back to the same place because I have their phone number right next to me, otherwise I would just be ambling about on the offchance I could be fit in. Which is okay, I suppose.

There is one on Charlotte Street I have wandered past a few times, on the corner towards the Marquis of Granby...

Starry (hello chickens), Monday, 29 November 2004 11:36 (twenty-one years ago)

haha i was actually serious re: mr topper they cut my hair a couple times and it wasn't bad! (although probably girl hair is harder to cut or something)

ken c (ken c), Monday, 29 November 2004 11:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I think MAN HAIR is a different kettle of Topper's fish than LADY HAIR when it comes to such things.

Starry (hello chickens), Monday, 29 November 2004 11:39 (twenty-one years ago)

see you all tonight at the fap!!

geeta, Monday, 29 November 2004 12:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Not me, you won't - I have to use up some spare chicken jelly and veg tonight or else I'll have to throw it out and what a waste that would be in this, the week of Band Aid 20.

Marcello Carlin, Monday, 29 November 2004 12:55 (twenty-one years ago)

chicken jelly??

ken c (ken c), Monday, 29 November 2004 13:07 (twenty-one years ago)

What the heck? Was the FAP last night or tonight? What's happening? Did I miss it? What day is it today? I know I've been skipping days and stuff due to unemployment but I didn't think I was that far out...

I'm so confused.

The Grain of Sand in Lambeth That Satan Cannot Find (kate), Monday, 29 November 2004 13:13 (twenty-one years ago)

it can't be last night because this morning people have been saying they "won't" make it.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 29 November 2004 13:14 (twenty-one years ago)

FAP is tonight, Fabric was night before last.

RickyT (RickyT), Monday, 29 November 2004 13:17 (twenty-one years ago)

as the thread title clearly states. yeesh.

Frankenstein On Ice (blueski), Monday, 29 November 2004 13:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Well...

1) how am I supposed to know what day it is? Web cafe computers lie.

2) how many times do thread titles and their contents mutate to have nothing to do with what they're talking about?

The Grain of Sand in Lambeth That Satan Cannot Find (kate), Monday, 29 November 2004 13:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll be there tonight. I shall try to bring a Sarah with me, if only to get first look at the new haircut.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 29 November 2004 13:51 (twenty-one years ago)

1) how am I supposed to know what day it is?

digital watch with calendar thingy?

2) how many times do thread titles and their contents mutate to have nothing to do with what they're talking about?

rest assured, with Matt DC recently installed as your Friendly Local Moderator now, precise FAP details in the thread title are always accurate and up to date - as i assume it is on that there ILX Fap diary/calendar oer yonder

Frankenstein On Ice (blueski), Monday, 29 November 2004 13:55 (twenty-one years ago)

ha ha, the ILX diary still says it's at The Lamb...

Frankenstein On Ice (blueski), Monday, 29 November 2004 13:55 (twenty-one years ago)

um, soz like it still says the lamb on the calendar...

will change it now :)

woah spooky, someone got there before me...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 29 November 2004 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

alternative steering committee announcement: future FAP locations to be determined by a combination of dice and guesswork

Frankenstein On Ice (blueski), Monday, 29 November 2004 14:00 (twenty-one years ago)

and that's different from this one how?????

don't think I'm going to make it either, sorry Geeta dude.

Porkpie (porkpie), Monday, 29 November 2004 14:02 (twenty-one years ago)

My hair has been SHORN.

I think I look like a PAGEBOY.

Starry (hello chickens), Monday, 29 November 2004 14:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Come on kids!! Scoop of the fortnight!

Starry (hello chickens), Monday, 29 November 2004 15:26 (twenty-one years ago)

What time does it all start? I would like to see Starry avec pageboy locks, but I have been a slackah all day and need to write lots before I can leave the house.

The Lex (The Lex), Monday, 29 November 2004 15:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Does your hair look like this? I might come if it does.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 29 November 2004 15:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish!

My office have nicely told me that I don't look like a pageboy so frankly I can only assume I look like FRANKINGSTEIN.

Starry (hello chickens), Monday, 29 November 2004 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

No, the scoop of the night is that I will probably be able to buy most of ILX a drink tonight (especially Phil).

(sorry, was someone trying to upstage me?)

suzy (suzy), Monday, 29 November 2004 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

i will hold you to this.

Frankenstein On Ice (blueski), Monday, 29 November 2004 16:41 (twenty-one years ago)

...but will be joining Ed later as have sone urgent/late copy to hand in.

I have a story about how to sell ugly old emerald bracelets to Jewish grandfather types who are gem merchants in Hatton Garden. Heh.

suzy (suzy), Monday, 29 November 2004 16:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Gah I cannot come, I have just been reminded of stuff I have not done, sorry all :( I expect PICTURES of Starry's hair tomorrow.

The Lex (The Lex), Monday, 29 November 2004 17:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I already have a pciture of Starry's hair - IN MY MIND'S EYE!

Puddin'Head Miller (PJ Miller), Monday, 29 November 2004 17:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I can report that Sarah's hair looks good, but she is concerned about its maintenance. It was a good FAP, though I only had real conversation with a handful of those there, sadly.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 29 November 2004 23:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I did not get to see Starry's hair. :-(

However, I did get bought a drink!

Oh my god, I'm mainlining while everyone else is skinning up. I love broadband. Yum yum yum, Percy is on the interweb, oh yes!

(Poor Minna, who keeps having to say "Indoor voice, please!")

The Grain of Sand in Lambeth That Satan Cannot Find (kate), Monday, 29 November 2004 23:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude (Dawg?) can we please get a translator for S.trife, because he's not even speaking English, he's speaking, like, dEsperanto, or something!

The Grain of Sand in Lambeth That Satan Cannot Find (kate), Monday, 29 November 2004 23:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Fuck, Trife and Minna showed up? Gah, bad timing...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 29 November 2004 23:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I presume you're all at Suzy's.

HELLO!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 29 November 2004 23:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Hello. Yes, we're at Suzy's. I cannot believe how indecipherable Trife is.

Did you leave early? Did I miss you? Oh no!

I'm just really enjoying the BROOOOOOAAAADBAND. Oh yeah.

The Grain of Sand in Lambeth That Satan Cannot Find (kate), Monday, 29 November 2004 23:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I didn't turn up at all, because I was supposed to be getting more sleep. Yeah right, etc...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 29 November 2004 23:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm really scared. Trife just posted and claims that it didn't turn up. I have no idea where it went, and which thread it will turn up on... eek.

Ach, Matt, you shoulda come. Well, actually, I didn't even get there till 10.30 but still.

Besides, it's midnight and I don't see you sleeping!

(Oh dear lord, I'm talking all Merkin and shee-it!)

That niff... is it... the smell of ... GEEK!!!

The Grain of Sand in Lambeth That Satan Cannot Find (kate), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 00:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry for leaving early. The weekend suddenly caught up with me on the way from work to the pub, and even ranting about Songs Of Praise could only perk me up temporarily.

RickyT (RickyT), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 09:29 (twenty-one years ago)

(I only really turned up to see if my ILX crush was there, and he wasn't... :-( )

((I am only posting this because it is driving Suzy crazy not knowing who my ILX crush is, and I won't tell her, tee hee hee.))

kate at suzy's house (suzy), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 09:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh bloody Hell. As a wise sage once said, BOTHERD.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 09:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Bot head? What's a bot head? Are you calling me a robot?

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 09:36 (twenty-one years ago)

hehe what a fun time in the pub. i was a little worried that it was going to be too small when we got there, but then we scared everyone else off the other people drifted away, monday night lightweights ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 09:55 (twenty-one years ago)

sorry i didn't make this - my parents weren't up for it, and i seem to have become ill again post-fabric, so i just went home to cough. i'd only have given you all my germs, anyway.

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 10:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Heh heh!! I feel really bad for running away after the GREAT EXPLODING PINT GLASS DISASTER, but frankly my trousers were 'orrid and soggy and I was a bit ahem, hormonal so running away was my only option.

I do actually want to see Geeta properly though so please let me know if there are OTHER PLANGS!!

Starry (hello chickens), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 10:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, the carnage:

Simon Trife was born a poor black child with ADHD - don't worry, he was TOLD this last night ("AAARGH...that's NOT funny!") whilst being micromanaged by Minna. What a marvellous woman. Soz if I was neurotic about slumbering Ed, but he has bacon to bring home.

Ed, Kate and I apologise for not getting your 9am meeting clothes out from the room Kate went to crash in at 3am, and furthermore blocking access to the cupboard through creative futon placement when this fact made you naked and late. But Kate did trip out on the Pucci tie; methinks she was just contact high. Lunch later to make it up.

Geeta, delay by 1-2 hours, not finished yet, lunch in West End w/boy @ 2, please come, followed by trip to ESM. Sarah, if this suits you as well.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Er, I'm sorry, speaka de English? ESM? Who's delayed? What? Where?!

I am at work during the day innit but post-werk West End is A-okay!

Starry (hello chickens), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 12:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Starry (hello chickens), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 12:11 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm supposed to take geeta to a NON-DANCE MUSIC event in bethnal green tonight, i think. except i don't really know where she is or how to get in touch with her, hmm.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 12:18 (twenty-one years ago)

via gareth innit

non-dance music?

Frankenstein On Ice (blueski), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 12:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 12:24 (twenty-one years ago)

if gareth is at work and geeta is out roaming around then that's not too helpful innit

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 12:25 (twenty-one years ago)

geeta mentioned tonight last night so i'm sure it'll work out.

Frankenstein On Ice (blueski), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 12:28 (twenty-one years ago)

oh god, the anxiety.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 12:32 (twenty-one years ago)

quick not to say sorry i didn't call geeta back last night. i was fast alseep most of the evening and woke up to a message, missed calls etc at about 11.30pm. despite never doing FAPS, i'm usually pretty good when it comes to answering the phone! apologies, but i'll buy you lunch when i'm in brooklyn next month.

stelfox, Tuesday, 30 November 2004 13:08 (twenty-one years ago)

NON DANCE MUSIC EVENT?!?!

Oh my goodness, think the unthinkable!

If it's in Bethnal Green it will be the RAWK. Probably.

I'm sorry, too, Ed. I didn't really know what was going on and I'm sorry you were naked and I was asleep. Ooh, err, that sounds a lot worse than it was.

The Grain of Sand in Lambeth That Satan Cannot Find (kate), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 13:11 (twenty-one years ago)

This is really good (/bad).

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

yes lauren, we're coming tonite. geeta and i just woke up, but im so confused since i went to bed at a reasonable hour (1am), so anyway, im getting ready to do something touristy. yesterday i only got 3 hours of sleep and ended up passing out on a bench at the british museum. in front of a big buddha.

phil-two (phil-two), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

ambrose (ambrose), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 15:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I seriously can't understand a word of this thread anymore. I am going home to knit!

Starry (hello chickens), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

what's a non-dance music event? ahaha

ok, so city rockers tonite! i will plan on it! i don't have a cell but you can email me or call/txt gareth tonite

geeta, Tuesday, 30 November 2004 15:13 (twenty-one years ago)

i'll call gareth. i'm thinking we leave about 8 (no later, anyway).

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 15:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Happy knitting, Sarah - I blew lunch out because of flat being Grand Central, but in a good way. Have been working on everything all day and talking to mother about Xmas present (money for business costs, something specific that I have to keep schtum about even to her, hence she is forced to trust me which is good), and friend from my last art project wants maybe to employ me, we'll see.

Dudes, I'm stealing (maybe Geeta and) Phil along to an opening from 6.30-8 with hot and cold running everything and Abigail Lane art. I'm meeting a work friend (see above) and we're going off after for quick drink/work talk so mine is an early night and the Phil will be back with you by 9pm AKA his usual wake-up time. Maybe if Ed does not truly desire the quiet night in he deserves due to head-nipping girlfriend with masterplan, he will join you at City Rockers and have a night on the lash with MUSIC.

Those damn fashion summaries aren't done = ESM hating on me unless in basically NOW.

RickyT (RickyT), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

unfortunately, i have to be at the city rockers thing by 8.30 or so. i'll text or email directions or something to geeta/phil, i guess..

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

i cannot get there till much later, i cannot guarantee being there at all, actually, at this stage

*@*.* (gareth), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 16:41 (twenty-one years ago)

how was the TEA?

Frankenstein On Ice (blueski), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 11:50 (twenty-one years ago)

kate should have been there. the first band was dirty dronerock boy explosion.

potential highlight: the girl with PETE DOHERTY tattooed on her forearm (the name, not a portrait).

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 12:08 (twenty-one years ago)

That's a highlight? I may as well just get BRONSON PINCHOT tattooed on the insides of my thighs.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 12:19 (twenty-one years ago)

it was a humour highlight.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 12:21 (twenty-one years ago)

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 14:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Dirty dronerock boys? But were they playing DIRTY DRONEROCK or was it just bad brown Bethnal Green smackrock?

This, alas, is always the dilemma...

Good god, if I *ever* get anyone's name tattooed on my arm, freaking shoot me. With guns. (Except for that Spacemen 3 tattoo, but that's different, you see.)

The Grain of Sand in Lambeth That Satan Cannot Find (kate), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 15:07 (twenty-one years ago)

they were playing droney proggy shoegazey stuff, featuring long songs and boards of pedals.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 15:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh god....

Oh wait, that's exactly what we were doing at rehearsal!

Except no one in my band looks like a DDB. Which is probably a good thing, mind you.

Any idea what they were called?

The Grain of Sand in Lambeth That Satan Cannot Find (kate), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 15:12 (twenty-one years ago)

they're called b.c.e. (you don't want to know what it stands for). they have a single coming out on my friend's label soon.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 15:18 (twenty-one years ago)

The Grain of Sand in Lambeth That Satan Cannot Find (kate), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 15:19 (twenty-one years ago)
