I'm wondering if I should make the drive to attend a lecture/presentation from Ms. Sprinkle. Has anyone seen her, uh, talk? Thoughts on her in general?

Ernest P. (ernestp), Sunday, 6 February 2005 03:39 (twenty-one years ago)

CLASSICXOR

teeny (teeny), Sunday, 6 February 2005 03:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I understand she has a vagina.

Pears can just fuck right off. (kenan), Sunday, 6 February 2005 03:46 (twenty-one years ago)

you might get to see inside it

di, Sunday, 6 February 2005 03:48 (twenty-one years ago)

i would recommend seeing this.

anthony, Sunday, 6 February 2005 03:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, I should've referred to her as "Dr. Sprinkle" - she obtained a PhD.

Ernest P. (ernestp), Sunday, 6 February 2005 04:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Im amazed she's still doing her thang, thats pretty cool - how old is she now?

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 6 February 2005 04:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Seeing Annie Sprinkle lecture was one of the best decisions I have ever made. It's like explosions in the sky without ever figuring out whether they're part of a brilliant pyrotechnic display or the precursor to a devastating invasion.

Fa Fa fa FA, Fa fa Fa fa FA Fa, Sunday, 6 February 2005 05:05 (twenty-one years ago)

On her website, it says that she turns 50 in July.

Ernest P. (ernestp), Sunday, 6 February 2005 05:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Dud. Stands up for pornography but does not seem to understand that some of her "roughies" (one of which reputedly kept her out of the business for 4 years because she was so psychologically damaged) can only have appealed to the most damaged mindset possible.

She has made movies which just cannot have done society any good at all. A bit like saying Max Hardcore classic or dud. I really worry about who is beating off to either of these people.

C-Man (C-Man), Sunday, 6 February 2005 12:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Calum in "Frightened of Aggressive Female Sexuality" shockah.

noodle vague (noodle vague), Sunday, 6 February 2005 12:35 (twenty-one years ago)

WTF? Noodle do you have any understanding of the shit she did in her movies such as letting men beat her up/ piss on her/ rape her on screen etc? For fuckssake man, research this shit before having a dig at me.

And if porn makes you thnk women are "aggressive" then there's really no hope.

C-Man (C-Man), Sunday, 6 February 2005 12:36 (twenty-one years ago)

This is mean but Calum explain letting someone rape you please

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 6 February 2005 12:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't mean she was actually raped on camera - but in films such as The Devil Inside Her and Kneel Before Me her character is raped in hardcore close-up, designed for you to whack off to - just like in that Harry Reems movie Forced Entry. Which is one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen (raped at knife point with lines like "does it hurt you bitch?" and intercut with mondo scenes of Vietnam POWs being decapitated and shot).

If this is your thing then don't let me stand in your way.

C-Man (C-Man), Sunday, 6 February 2005 12:51 (twenty-one years ago)

hot but not hot, you know?

hstencil (hstencil), Sunday, 6 February 2005 12:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry Calum, you are quite right, I am ignornant fule. I realise now that girls should smell nice and wear dresses.

noodle vague (noodle vague), Sunday, 6 February 2005 12:53 (twenty-one years ago)

http://www.dvddrive-in.com/reviews/a-d/alphabluearchives74757904.htm

Right. Click her for more background on these films.

This get you off you sick fecker? The same forum that jibes on me for being a "misogynist" for posting threads on how cute Emma Bunton is?

C-Man (C-Man), Sunday, 6 February 2005 13:06 (twenty-one years ago)

you are a fag, calum. face it.

hstencil (hstencil), Sunday, 6 February 2005 13:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm glad I live in a country where sexual violence of this kind is prohibited, personally.

C-Man (C-Man), Sunday, 6 February 2005 13:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Annie Sprinkle's films walk a confused line between pornography and art. In her self-identification as an artist, she's retreading themes of degradation common to peeps like Baudelaire, Genet, GG Allin, Bob Flanagan etc etc etc. You conveniently ignore her later performance art and lectures. Why?

I wouldn't go so far as to describe your petty laddist provocations as misogyny.

noodle vague (noodle vague), Sunday, 6 February 2005 13:15 (twenty-one years ago)

misogyny /= boring
calum = boring

hstencil (hstencil), Sunday, 6 February 2005 13:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Face the possibility that people might be interested in her viewpoint, what she has to say etc, not necessarily "getting off on it".

I have no opinion on Annie Sprinkle one way or the other, except that she has a k-k3wl name.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Sunday, 6 February 2005 13:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Art? Get to fuck. It's like the raincoat crowd trying to hold up Behind the Green Door or The Opening of Misty Beethoven as "art". These films are shit. They aren't even especially competently made. And who the fuck would aspire to retread the themes of GG Allin?

Fuckssake. If you perform in movies that are designed to appeal to the fantasies of violently misogynistic assholes then you earn zero respect for me. The same reason I wouldn't piss on Ruggero Deodato if he was on fire. No he hasn't slaughtered wildlife on camera since 1979, but that still doesn't make it okay.

C-Man (C-Man), Sunday, 6 February 2005 13:20 (twenty-one years ago)

So we're to take it that "Behind the Green Door" was a bit of a let down, then?

You seem so angry all the time!

Pashmina (Pashmina), Sunday, 6 February 2005 13:21 (twenty-one years ago)

It's dire.

C-Man (C-Man), Sunday, 6 February 2005 13:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, that Salo's a piece of shit too. Where's the positive social messages, people?

noodle vague (noodle vague), Sunday, 6 February 2005 13:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Salo is indeed a piece of shit. Fuckssake man - what next? Cannibal Holocaust - best message movie ever?

C-Man (C-Man), Sunday, 6 February 2005 13:27 (twenty-one years ago)

everyone knows marilyn's best movie wasn't green door, FAG.

hstencil (hstencil), Sunday, 6 February 2005 13:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Well I've not seen her other films because I don't spend my time beating off to porn. I have a girlfriend, for example, you got one of these gay boy?

C-Man (C-Man), Sunday, 6 February 2005 13:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I used to think you were just misguided, C-man, but yr akshully quite thick, aren't you?

noodle vague (noodle vague), Sunday, 6 February 2005 13:33 (twenty-one years ago)

For what? Not seeing the worth in Salo? There goes the opinions of many renowned film critics too who invariably hailed it as Pasolini's WORST WORK.

C-Man (C-Man), Sunday, 6 February 2005 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Hewwo. I am a wenowned film cwitic and I would like to say that Salo is Pasolini's WORST WORK. Although his wole in the Argentinian 1978 World Cup squad was also wepellent.

a renowned film critic (noodle vague), Sunday, 6 February 2005 13:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Do depictions of fucking add to or detract from the artistic value of a film, in general, do you think?

there you go again, calling the renowned film critics of the world to your defense, Calum! Fuck what they think!

Pashmina (Pashmina), Sunday, 6 February 2005 13:45 (twenty-one years ago)

haha x-post!

How can you possibly take "Salo" seriously! The dialogue is risible!

Pashmina (Pashmina), Sunday, 6 February 2005 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Isn't that the point tho? He's undermining Sade's/Mussolini's ubermenschen by making them risible losers? I read Salo as a black comedy.

noodle vague (noodle vague), Sunday, 6 February 2005 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

"you're a misogynist, gay boy"

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Sunday, 6 February 2005 15:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Ha, this is sad.

Calum's right, obviously, but of course you can't admit it because you all just hate Calum so much you won't admit he's ever right about anything.

Pathetic, Sunday, 6 February 2005 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Are you his imaginary friend?

noodle vague (noodle vague), Sunday, 6 February 2005 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Salo is utter fucking shit and it's the worst kind of shit - boring shit but with paedo overtones and a fetish for young boys asses.

C-Man (C-Man), Sunday, 6 February 2005 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Are you his imaginary friend?

Nah, the blow-up doll lacks coordination and Mr. Snuggles is only a sodden teddy bear.

Calum, I do like how you constantly claim to have 'friends' who support you but when one of them finally posts (after what, four years?) he sounds remarkably like you.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 6 February 2005 15:45 (twenty-one years ago)

What are you on about Ned?

Sigh - if you want to see if I have friends, and how attractive they are too, I'm in LA and San Francisco in March.

C-Man (C-Man), Sunday, 6 February 2005 15:48 (twenty-one years ago)

People paying $50 to see your videotaped movies aren't your friends, but whatever turns ya on.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 6 February 2005 15:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Yup, post your shitty reply here, naturally, but the baton is out - I'm happy to sit down and introduce some of my buddies to your fat self.

We might get a laugh.

C-Man (C-Man), Sunday, 6 February 2005 15:51 (twenty-one years ago)

the baton is out

Didn't know you cared, darling. But I thought other people here attracted you more.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 6 February 2005 15:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned, the funny thing is this:

*Judging by how often you spend your time on ILX I have more friends in LA than you do.

*Providing you provide us with some laughs as you get drunk/ fall over/ try and hit on one of my female buddies/ fail miserably - you're welcome to meet me.

C-Man (C-Man), Sunday, 6 February 2005 16:47 (twenty-one years ago)

ew, put the baton back in, plz.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Sunday, 6 February 2005 16:49 (twenty-one years ago)

haha

Pears can just fuck right off. (kenan), Sunday, 6 February 2005 16:50 (twenty-one years ago)

noodle vague (noodle vague), Sunday, 6 February 2005 16:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I think she's somewht overrated, frankly, though I've heard she's quite nice in person. I get the feeling we're not really talking about Annie anymore, though.

sugarpants (sugarpants), Sunday, 6 February 2005 17:22 (twenty-one years ago)

The great thing about a lot of radical feminism and queer theory is that it's simultaneously awesomely intelligent/thought-provoking, and awesomely hilarious: one minute you'll be reading a deconstruction of gender identity in eg the political system, next minute a phrase like 'amazon flannel, beard glitter, jism and genderfuck' will pop up out of nowhere.

Annie Sprinkle is a lot like that: in my first year of uni, my best friend got her Dirty Words book (don't think it was written by the Sprinkle, it just covered her in depth) out of her library and in very immature fashion we read the best bits (the public cervix announcement!) out loud to each other every night instead of revising for exams.

Classic obv.

The Lex (The Lex), Sunday, 6 February 2005 17:29 (twenty-one years ago)

To answer a question upthread: Max Hardcore is dud, because his models are all unattractive.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 6 February 2005 17:57 (twenty-one years ago)

not because he's an abusuve sicko?

C-Man (C-Man), Sunday, 6 February 2005 17:59 (twenty-one years ago)

annie sprinkle has analazyed and complicated her work in the 70s, recognizing the negative and positive implications there in--discussing her roughies often does not excuse them. (and i wonder if she views them as excuse---whether this makes her a hypocrite is well worth pointing out and discussing--and i wish that calum would point this out while not being abusive to the other posters)

anthony, Sunday, 6 February 2005 18:16 (twenty-one years ago)

'amazon flannel, beard glitter, jism and genderfuck'

The lost Sonic Youth album?

Rickey Wright (Rrrickey), Sunday, 6 February 2005 20:47 (twenty-one years ago)

when i saw her she did "annie's boobs on your head" polaroids for $5 during intermission

bulbs (bulbs), Sunday, 6 February 2005 21:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Well that says it all really doesn't it?

Noodles thinks THIS is Aggressive Female Sexuality? HA.

C-Man (C-Man), Sunday, 6 February 2005 21:13 (twenty-one years ago)

without all the facts before me i say dud. i remember a bust magazine feature recommending porn for girls and it was all shit like this. the fact that the best anyone could recommend to turn on horny girls was a video of a middle-aged jewish women showing her cervix depresses me to this day. it seems her, susie bright et. al. are all about endless pop-theory talk, self-absorption, and exhibitionism. which are all anti-hott. unless of course it's in the context of 2 pretty rockerboys exploring homosexuality.

lolita corpus (lolitacorpus), Sunday, 6 February 2005 21:56 (twenty-one years ago)

But why is it that psuedo-feminists don't get worked up over gay porn?

EH?

Seriously, you never hear your Dworkinists moaning about exploitation of men.

Shows a two-faceness doesn't it?

If someone wants to do porn that's fine, and porn and naked women are all fine and dandy with me, but I'll never accept that it's female liberation. Especially not when the women spouting such nonsense (i.e. Jenna Jamieson, Annie Sprinkle, Brianna Banks or whomever) are either thick as two short planks or have required massive, hideous cosmetic blobs in their bodies in order to further their careers.

C-Man (C-Man), Sunday, 6 February 2005 22:07 (twenty-one years ago)

But why is it that psuedo-feminists don't get worked up over gay porn?

what does gay porn have to do with women?

stevie (stevie), Sunday, 6 February 2005 22:10 (twenty-one years ago)

i mean, maybe as consumers... but isn't it pretty obvious why FEMINISTS don't get worked up about Gay Porn?

stevie (stevie), Sunday, 6 February 2005 22:11 (twenty-one years ago)

No, not really. Their entire arguement about porn being exploitational/ degrading etc only ever applies to women in straight porn but never to men in straight or gay porn. To them porn = men exploiting women for their own gain which really isn't the case considering how many female directors/ producers/ stars/ studio owners their are.

C-Man (C-Man), Sunday, 6 February 2005 22:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Compellingly argued.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 6 February 2005 22:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Gay porn has plots though! Like I saw one where they were two chess grandmasters relaxing after the show!

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 6 February 2005 23:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Their entire arguement about porn being exploitational/ degrading etc only ever applies to women in straight porn but never to men in straight or gay porn. calum, i have no doubt that every complexity and irony within the concept of porn is argued pro and con within the spectrum of feminist discourse. i also have no doubt you are entirely ignorant of any but the most surface-shocking, pop-culture-friendly feminist thinkers - a deeper investigation of feminist thinking's relationship with porn with probably reward you with more wisdom or more food for thought than you would be able to tolerate. feminism isn't a single stance, its a movement composed of opposing thoughts.

i had exactly the same idea as that legs mcneil book over xmas (ie just when it was at the printers, probably) and will definitely read that. it seems like a great approach to discussing porn - without polemnic, simply letting the experiences, positive and negative, of people who work in porn or are affected by it speak for themselves. but i've always found listening the best avenue to understanding a thorny issue, calum, and that obviously isn't your approach.

stevie (stevie), Monday, 7 February 2005 00:08 (twenty-one years ago)

i've been looking forward to that legs mcneil book for awhile now

j blount (papa la bas), Monday, 7 February 2005 00:13 (twenty-one years ago)

stence otm re: sprinkle

j blount (papa la bas), Monday, 7 February 2005 00:13 (twenty-one years ago)

"feminism isn't a single stance, its a movement composed of opposing thoughts"

Oh no fucking shit - to the point that "feminism" now no longer really means anything, you might want to argue.

I'm very well read on this subject, as it so happens, and had to study it in depth at one point as it relates to horror entertainment - but also, inevitably, to porn.

Recently, I've spoken one-to-one with Marilyn Chambers and Ron Jeremy and had their thoughts on the topic, first hand, so - you know - personally I'd say I've actually gone to more lengths to discuss this shit than any of you.

C-Man (C-Man), Monday, 7 February 2005 00:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Which isn't meant to be a dig, I just get very very annoyed when someone takes the, "I bet you've not read this" view with me. It's a fucking chat forum not an academia wank site. Fuckssake.

C-Man (C-Man), Monday, 7 February 2005 00:36 (twenty-one years ago)

If anyone is curios as to what proper erotica, not that nasty stuff with stupid women in it, is like I reccommend you check out my latest project - http://calumwaddell.blogspot.com/. I doubt any of you are edicated enough to comprehend it but you can try. Enjoy!

C-Man., Monday, 7 February 2005 00:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Get a life you sad, sad man.

C-Man (C-Man), Monday, 7 February 2005 00:53 (twenty-one years ago)

WOW! Calum that's some hot shit right there! Why so coy about it??

Masked Gazza, Monday, 7 February 2005 00:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Right, so I've had enough of this nonsense and clearly the moderators have no interest in taking action so I'm through with this board and will see the lot of you in court. The law is in my side. I've been to a college, in Scotland, and I know this. If any of you unedicated rabble are interested in continuing this discussion feel free to email me at calumrw@y*****.co.uk .

C-Man., Monday, 7 February 2005 00:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually man, if I did want to sue you for this shit I probably could. It's libel of character - but I feel it says more about how bored and pathetic you must be,

James Blount, same old crap different day.

C-Man (C-Man), Monday, 7 February 2005 00:59 (twenty-one years ago)

You know what actually disturbs me the most? I have no real ill will towards anyone on this site. I spend no time thinking about it outside of when I post online, but someone here actually has taken an obvious hatred to a stranger on the other side of a computer to the extent of actually trying to hurt and damage my character.

If you sickos find that funny and actually support it then I really do find it utterly shocking.

C-Man (C-Man), Monday, 7 February 2005 01:05 (twenty-one years ago)

And ok maybe I have posted rape fantasies about some of you and threatened violence against several of you and ok yes stalked one of you if you count writing six - count them six - increasingly hostile and sexual e-mails to an one of you but it was never done out of ill will. And ok maybe I threaten to go to the law whenever someone posts an ill word about me but that is only because being a Tory I have a strong belief in the rule of law. It is definitely not meant to come across as bullying and never obnoxious. And when I castigate the lot of you as sickos it is definitely not meant with ill will. I'm through with this board in any case, if any of you want to continue this discussion feel free to email me at calumrw@y***o.co.uk . Cheers!

C-Man,, Monday, 7 February 2005 01:13 (twenty-one years ago)

And after four years of getting increasingly pissed off with me James Blount THAT little diatribe is the BEST you can come up with?

Weak. Very weak.

C-Man (C-Man), Monday, 7 February 2005 01:31 (twenty-one years ago)

You're right on one count though - wouldn't waste another second on here.

Um, fwiw Calum I'm not pissed off at you. Let's do try to keep this thread about Annie Sprinkle though, I'm sure there are other venues for people to get into it with whoever is who here.

j blount (papa la bas), Monday, 7 February 2005 01:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Then kindly remove that shit about me over at blogspot.

C-Zarg, Monday, 7 February 2005 01:37 (twenty-one years ago)

calum (one of them is calum presumably right?) where did you meet ron jeremy? did you go to the avn awards? fwiw i'd say 'annie sprinkle - classic' if only cuz the overriding message of her public persona (ie. what i know about her) is 'pro-porn' which in 2005 in america is decidedly classic. as for her flix i've never seen one and didn't know about the fake-rape aspect of them but if anyone wants to register their disgust with that that seems fair enough, there's plenty of porn i don't care for and might question the motives behind those who do find it a turnon (might but do not let it be noted, diffrent strokes diffrent folx is the rule of the day) and i can't imagine anyone here likes EVERY kind of porn. to each his own.

Hey douchebags, I'm not Calum's friend. I'm just an observer... I'm better than you, obviously. I'm the asdf troll, nude spock, redfez, john biershitz, etc. Most of you need a good curbing / stabbing / anal raping, but after that, I think your attitudes will be properly in check with the reality of your lameass outlook on life.

er, xpost.

there's a thing in one of her books i remember quite liking, at the time, a sort of 'anatomy of a pin-up' thing. (found the book hidden behind a bunch of other books on a landlord's bookcase. oddly enough the books it was hidden behind included the thousand days of sodom.)

thomp, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 20:33 (sixteen years ago)

'anatomy of a pin-up' (almost safe for work, i guess)

girlish in the worst sense of that term (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 28 July 2009 20:35 (sixteen years ago)

actually, of ppl who advocate porn-positive/sex-positive views, partic. 'being a sex performer can be kind of fun, even empowering', she does seem to be more willing than most to countenance the possible contradictions and complications involved with this view, which makes me more inclined to think there may be something in it. (fact that she's worked it from both actual skin-flick and academic/performance art directions probably helps)

Oh, Cal would have been SB'ed 300 times before the mods would have been able to place the ban after the 51st.
