Good morning alll

i've got a fresh pack of cigarettes, a large cup of coffee, lets buy us some tickets!

first question: who knows where the webpage is?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:42 (twenty years ago)

Tickets for Glastonbury 2005 will be available on Aloud.com from 9am. At that time we will introduce links to the booking pages for tickets to this year's festival. Please note that Aloud will be exclusively dedicated to selling Glastonbury tickets while they're available, no other tickets will be available during this period. We will also not be selling any tickets (including Glastonbury 2005 tickets) on the usual Aloud booking number 0870 998 8888, until all Glastonbury 2005 tickets have been sold. If you wish to order Glastonbury 2005 tickets by telephone please call 0870 165 2005 from 9am.

Please note the following terms and conditions for booking Glastonbury 2005 tickets have been introduced by the festival organisers.

We will endeavor to cancel all bookings made using multi-hit software or programs. The festival organisers want to ensure that all those who wish to be at Glastonbury 2005 have a fair and equal chance of becoming a ticket holder.
The full address of both ticket holders (not the card holder if different) must be entered at the time of booking.
One booking per card only
All ticket holders will need to produce photo ID on arrival at the festival site. All ticket holders will be able to obtain a free UK citizen card.
Camper Van and Car Parking tickets must be booked in advance and are available on all the festival ticket booking options.
All UK addressed bookings purchased via the overseas booking page will be cancelled.
16s and over will require an adult ticket.
Family tickets will be available - Maximum of four tickets per booking (one or two adults and up to two children aged 13, 14, or 15). Please use the dedicated booking links for family tickets.

that answers that then. http://www.aloud.com

"I'm panicking. Mainly cos my Dad just told me he lost his credit card last week and has to get a new one. And my Mum is away. So erm.......why am I even up? Oh yeah, texting sister??? "

I texted my sister! no reply. I am quite calm actually, despite this unfortunate conjunction of events.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:47 (twenty years ago)

it's DEBIT cards only people.

yeah?

just checking that's clear.

piscesboy, Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:48 (twenty years ago)

this feels like work. boo to work.

colette (a2lette), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:49 (twenty years ago)

Debit cards in UK, credit cards elsewhere.

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:50 (twenty years ago)

except for overseas buyer like our ronan, yes.

aloud.com already taking 30 seconds to refresh

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:50 (twenty years ago)

Aloud has already started slowing.

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:50 (twenty years ago)

Debit cards in UK, credit cards elsewhere.

sorry yeah that's the fella.

piscesboy, Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:51 (twenty years ago)

Good luck y'all!

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:52 (twenty years ago)

why are we even up now, we know it's not going to work for the first two hours...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:53 (twenty years ago)

Well, we might just get through early on. Bec managed to get hers at 7:42pm last year.

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:55 (twenty years ago)

is anyone even bothering with the phones?

piscesboy, Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:55 (twenty years ago)

good question, steve. i just realised that even though i'm tired, i bet i'll be too awake to go back to sleep. who's up for FAB(breakfast)?

colette (a2lette), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:55 (twenty years ago)

i was comtemplating it, lets see how the website goes.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:56 (twenty years ago)

also, what are "multi-hit software or programs"?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:56 (twenty years ago)

Multi-hit software = Matt DC?

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:57 (twenty years ago)

international phoneline is surely the best bet for me, there wasn't one last year but it would seem like it might be less busy. I just tried phoning/waking my mum, with my pathetic story. she's asleep. I suppose getting card details in an hour is the same difference.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:57 (twenty years ago)

electronic man on phone he say "sorry lines are busy, please try later"

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:58 (twenty years ago)

ha, i can't get either aloud. com or glastonburyfestivals.co.uk now...

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:58 (twenty years ago)

also:

Due to the likely high levels of demand, particularly during the initial period when tickets become available, you may not be able to access Aloud.com. In order to maximise the likelihood of See tickets processing orders effectively, we also can't allow instant access to the booking order forms

does that mean "no-s" is fucked as an option?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:59 (twenty years ago)

i am finding out what my girlfriend is thinking vis a vis breakfast by reading this thread. we are sat next to each other in bed. i don't think this wireless network business is very healthy.

ooh, now i can get the glasto website but not aloud.com...

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:00 (twenty years ago)

ok, us atomic clock says it's nine now. come on.

colette (a2lette), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:00 (twenty years ago)

WHAT IS THE FREYA FOR "SUNDAY"??!!?!??!

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:00 (twenty years ago)

hopefully someone will post a direct link if they get through? is anyone looking at other forums?! isn't that where we got freya last year?

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:01 (twenty years ago)

No-s fucked until we know what the booking URL is. Then it's a goer.

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:01 (twenty years ago)

Aloud is running like a dead dog with no legs.

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:02 (twenty years ago)

aloud now taking 1 minute to reload

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:02 (twenty years ago)

lazy sundays at the computer.......

soon it will be late enough in the day to listen to music

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:03 (twenty years ago)

phone line completely deeed as a dead thing

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:03 (twenty years ago)

we should clearly be able to buy tickets, since only 6 of us are trying from here instead of zillions from last year, right?

colette (a2lette), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:03 (twenty years ago)

Main multi-hit program is apparently called PowerProxy. No idea if this banning thing is a bluff or not.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:03 (twenty years ago)

aloud still showing the "tickets available from 9" screen

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:04 (twenty years ago)

I like to imagine Aloud's offices as a Night of the Living Dead type scene, everything nailed down and the doors locked, as they all wait with white knuckles and terror in their eyes.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:05 (twenty years ago)

got an order form link

https://www.wayahead-secure.co.uk/g2005/orderform-ifm.asp?showcode=110000&pricetype=3&pricetype2=9&pricetype3=10&pricetype4=4&filler1=glastonbury&filler3=cobo

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:08 (twenty years ago)

Morning all! I have the power of N3ws Int3rnational's computers behind me and yet still, fuck-all. Godspeed, one and all...

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:08 (twenty years ago)

Mooro (Mooro), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:08 (twenty years ago)

damn it then said "the service is now busy, try again later"

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:09 (twenty years ago)

No-s not working for me. Get sent back to welcome screen with options.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:09 (twenty years ago)

Thank you for your order

You have ordered:
1 ADULT 16+ ticket(s)
for Glastonbury 2005

Your reference number will be emailed to you along with confirmation of your order
Please allow at least 4 hours for this to be delivered.

Tom (Groke), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:10 (twenty years ago)

no s seems to send you back to a menu screen, yes N otm. I just discovered that, I didn't get the menu screen without no s though.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:10 (twenty years ago)

yeah, i got the same as tom! woo!

let's hope i got my debit card number correct. the paranoia begins!

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:11 (twenty years ago)

FUCKING HELL

that was easy

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:11 (twenty years ago)

*which* 's' do u take out or is that link 's' free?

piscesboy, Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:11 (twenty years ago)

No s works here!

(I am not actually buying tickets, I ws just swept up in the excitement)

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:11 (twenty years ago)

Fuck, I'm in!

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:11 (twenty years ago)

(with s)

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:11 (twenty years ago)

I was hoping it wasn't just me, since I'd thumbed my nose at the gods of Pilton by saying I wasn't going quite so often.

Tom (Groke), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:12 (twenty years ago)

charlie good morning! everybody good morning!

emsk, Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:12 (twenty years ago)

FUCK YES!

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:13 (twenty years ago)

Someone pls explain "no s" for the computer illiterate.

thankx

Mooro (Mooro), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:13 (twenty years ago)

yeah, i have the order page, but toby's got our tickets. who do i order for?

colette (a2lette), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:13 (twenty years ago)

ha, my sister managed no 's' all on her own! ha!

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:14 (twenty years ago)

remove the s from https

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:14 (twenty years ago)

Fucking hell, that was far too easy!

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:14 (twenty years ago)

Confirmation screen up. Fuck - that was spookily painless.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:15 (twenty years ago)

I'm on the page too, have everything filled out but the card!

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:15 (twenty years ago)

Not that it seems to matter - it sends you to a menu which then sends you back into the all-new frighteningly efficient 's' system.

Is this more of DJ Martian's doing?

Tom (Groke), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:15 (twenty years ago)

Were we just very lucky or is their booking system so efficient now that it will be sold out in 20 mins?

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:16 (twenty years ago)

I didn't even need to use 'no s'!

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:16 (twenty years ago)

thanx Steve

Mooro (Mooro), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:17 (twenty years ago)

got it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanx link kids!!

piscesboy, Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:18 (twenty years ago)

Better get making the tape then.

Tom (Groke), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:18 (twenty years ago)

who knows...

(ie who CARES WE'RE IN!!!)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:18 (twenty years ago)

NOW THE DREADED WAIT FOR THE CONFIRMATION EMAIL BEGINS

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:19 (twenty years ago)

although looking again, it in fact puts the s back in on the order screen

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:19 (twenty years ago)

Four hours for confirmation! Argghh!

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:19 (twenty years ago)

wait, tom, i thought you weren't going this year? what changed your mind?

colette (a2lette), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:20 (twenty years ago)

(I would be an awful lot happier if the confirmation screen had actually given me a booking reference)

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:20 (twenty years ago)

fan's of last year's thread should note that my paranoias this year include:

* did i enter my card details correctly?

* does it matter that my card address isn't the same as the addresses i entered for us (i'm moving pre-glasto)?

err that's it so far.

AT LEAST four hours, ricky!

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:20 (twenty years ago)

i think ilx is actually slower than aloud.com right now...

colette (a2lette), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:20 (twenty years ago)

be calm, all such thoughts will pass...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:21 (twenty years ago)

oh god, i've turned into ned ;-)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:21 (twenty years ago)

God bless the internet. And now back to sleep.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:22 (twenty years ago)

Maybe this is the much talked about lottery system in action, and everyone gets to 'book tickets' then after four hours they pick who REALLY has randomly like.

Colette - my mind was changed in the pub on Friday. Also there isn't one next year and by the time 2007 comes round hopefully I will have a young family to mitigate against frivolities such as the Wine Bar.

Tom (Groke), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:23 (twenty years ago)

and when andrew goes to sleep, all his friends go to sleep...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:24 (twenty years ago)

anyone in touch with matt dc?

given that my sis got through with no outside help, i wonder if there's actually a lower demand this year?

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:24 (twenty years ago)

i've got matt's ticket and have texted him the following:

BOOKED! everyone's sorted easiest ticket booking EVER

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:25 (twenty years ago)

Two down - 5 more to go!

Tricia Smith, Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:25 (twenty years ago)

Toby - they definitely said that the cardholder address doesn't have to be the same as either of the people going.

If you entered your card no. wrong you may be fucked, however.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:25 (twenty years ago)

hooray! booked tickets for me and gf on mammys credit card, now the repayments commence!

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:26 (twenty years ago)

All the LJers have got theirs. Either all non-interweb mentalists are still in bed or they've actually sorted out the system this time.

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:26 (twenty years ago)

i think you might have a point tobe. if you think of the people we know who aren't going this year and then multiply it up, also the ticket farrago last year, maybe it'll just be the 20 of us going :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:27 (twenty years ago)

well i know it off by heart, and have done for years, so i'm optimistic.

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:27 (twenty years ago)

bah it's no fun when it's this easy

JOKE, I'M JOKING, PLEASE DOn'T KILL ME

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:28 (twenty years ago)

All the LJers have got theirs. Either all non-interweb mentalists are still in bed or they've actually sorted out the system this time.

Or it's so not sorted out that no one has tickets after all.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:28 (twenty years ago)

hmm, only trouble is we're now completely awake, having gone to bed at half four. ow. time to go out for breakfast, i guess...

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:28 (twenty years ago)

this seems really easy - my flatmate just got his.

i'm all jealous already!

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:29 (twenty years ago)

why aren't you coming ken?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:29 (twenty years ago)

You have ordered:
2 ADULT 16+ ticket(s)
for Glastonbury 2005

that's me and my mystery +1 too!

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:29 (twenty years ago)

I feel like we're a mob all set to lynch someone and the bastard has had a heart attack on the way to the tree.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:29 (twenty years ago)

bad N, straight to your room with talk like that.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:30 (twenty years ago)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:30 (twenty years ago)

fuck.

i LOVE ilm ..

ta for the link. all sorted ..

mark e (mark e), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:31 (twenty years ago)

I put my girlfriend's address down as mine, as far as I remember they just ID you at Shepton Mallet anyway, can any other Euro ILXorz (Neil Tennant or DJ Sammy) remember? I'm sure it'll be fine.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:31 (twenty years ago)

Susan Nickson's hunky neighbour

i should have got up earlier - i wanted to catch The Nightmare of Eden, which i int seen in aaages.

So, new Dr Who ep last night...

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:32 (twenty years ago)

(the funny thing is, the link was just going back to www.aloud.com, they had blocked "no s", but in the confusion no one noticed).

do you not have UKG +1 alan, that's what i'm watching it on.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:32 (twenty years ago)

I can't bring myself to close the window with my confirmation screen. A screen grab isn't the same.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:33 (twenty years ago)

Alan you can borrow it off me. It's a bit rub.

Tom (Groke), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:34 (twenty years ago)

Me too Nick!

you know it's not difficult to write a server that queues up orders for another server to process at "leisure". Take order, How big is the queue, if too big to guarantee order tell the user, otherwise tell em to relax.

JSL

anyway, no +1 with Homechoice. However Last night's who is on replay, NUM NUM

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:34 (twenty years ago)

haha, i only closed mine about two mins ago thinking "it doesn't tell me/proove anything anyway". also yr stopping other people getting in innit.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:35 (twenty years ago)

got tix for me an my bro!
everyone i know who is trying for tickets got them... this a bit spooky!

emsk, Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:35 (twenty years ago)

Carsmile -

No-s works until you get to http://www.wayahead-secure.co.uk/g2005/orderform.asp?showcode=200000&pricetype=7&pricetype2=9&pricetype3=10&filler1=glastonbury, then it just sends you back a page. wtf?

Pete

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:35 (twenty years ago)

This four hours for confirmation thing is going to be torture.

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:37 (twenty years ago)

yes, i realise that now. are you in yet pete? also any news on how the rest of the space-cadets getting on?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:37 (twenty years ago)

also yr stopping other people getting in innit.

Carsmile this is a schoolboy internet protocol error.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:37 (twenty years ago)

Carsmile's civic mindedness has put me to shame and I am reluctantly closing my confirmation window.

Tom (Groke), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:37 (twenty years ago)

i am checking my gmail spam box JUST IN CASE

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:38 (twenty years ago)

Steve -

No. Just getting the busy message. Any other ideas? Haven't heard from Ian. Would like to - if you hear from him - please post. Cheers...

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:39 (twenty years ago)

I am not worried about waiting for the confirmation email, at this stage you've got tickets, relax, have a beer, perhaps invite friends around?

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:40 (twenty years ago)

I've invented a new paranoia for myself. I'm not even sure I believe in it very much.

I had two browsers (Firefox and Safari) on the go, hitting the site. Michael Eavis will have spotted this and have me down as a 'multi-hit program' user and I will be banned.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:40 (twenty years ago)

Got tix for Pam & her mate now.

Now I'll suffer some low level anxiety until she gets a confirmation e-mail.

Mooro (Mooro), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:40 (twenty years ago)

Bah, all i get is a service busy screen. I might prevail on big piped people soon...

x-post

BOKKED! YAY!

Pete (Pete), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:41 (twenty years ago)

Pete -

big piped don't necessarily work, sunbeam. getting same myself

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:43 (twenty years ago)

BOKKED!!!

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:44 (twenty years ago)

cool, i got tickets! cheers everyone. back to bed.

pete b, Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:44 (twenty years ago)

Back to bed, yes. But I bet I won't be able to sleep bah.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:46 (twenty years ago)

ooh a surfeit of petes all at once...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:46 (twenty years ago)

is it bad to want to go to the pub to celebrate now?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:46 (twenty years ago)

I feel like a pint of WORKER'S BEER COMPANY PISS.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:47 (twenty years ago)

pete r, news from space-cadets, matti's in, bob's having a bit of trouble, no news from ian

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:48 (twenty years ago)

http://www.seetickets.com/g2005/ might be worth a try, the links seem to be different that from aloud.com and it worked for me..

jk_ (jk@gabba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:48 (twenty years ago)

IN A PAPER CUP!

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:48 (twenty years ago)

pete r, you'll be pleased to know that matti is doing some wiccaning for you ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:52 (twenty years ago)

I went via the no s, and it puts you through to an s so is secure like. ANd then I just saw a kitten walking on its hindlegs in a suit on TV. Luckily it was a Bjork video which means I was not asleep.

Quite tempted by pub, but will be over it by the time 12 comes round. The Bread & Roses (the Workrs Beer Pub) Is actually rather unlike what you would expect. Except for its sound amplifying child rammed conservatory.

Pete (Pete), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:53 (twenty years ago)

no house is complete without a child rammed conservatory

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:55 (twenty years ago)

xpost mindmeld! simon's interview with Bjork was fun. kitty in the video too!

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:55 (twenty years ago)

oh god, i'm going to have to put shelves up and things now...

...i was expecting this to take most of the day...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:55 (twenty years ago)

so who is actually going, present or otherwise?

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:57 (twenty years ago)

Me and MattDC

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:58 (twenty years ago)

Me

Tom (Groke), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:58 (twenty years ago)

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:59 (twenty years ago)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:59 (twenty years ago)

and collette

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:59 (twenty years ago)

maybe everyone's been scared off by the TICKET-BUYING HORROR STORIES of last year. hmmm. i feel a bit uneasy about this.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:00 (twenty years ago)

with that exception, this = least couple-y glasto ever?

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:00 (twenty years ago)

still getting nowhere but have got them through someone else. i can only assume this is ntl's fault, but there again, who cares? that's my holiday sorted. yay!

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:01 (twenty years ago)

Shabazz better be coming cos I've just bought her ticket.

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:02 (twenty years ago)

Ooooh - Steve - can you let spacecadets know that if anyone needs me to try I'm here (not that it'll prolly do a lot of good, but I'd like to....)

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:02 (twenty years ago)

I'm going to hyde park instead steve!!

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:03 (twenty years ago)

A lot of people on NTL seem to have been having bother.

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:03 (twenty years ago)

i fucking hate them. ahthangyew.

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:04 (twenty years ago)

yeah, mypete had a bit of bother too. could they/would they limit connections by ip?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:04 (twenty years ago)

coming!

emsk, Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:04 (twenty years ago)

oh man van morrison is playing.. :(

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:04 (twenty years ago)

don't forget about this, folks: http://www.citizencard.co.uk/

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:05 (twenty years ago)

i saw van morrison fall over arse over tit coming offstage from guildford festival 5 years ago. tripped over a wire and fell flat on his face. priceless: his minders just bundled him up bodily and chucked him into the back of the waiting car like an old carpet.

emsk, Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:06 (twenty years ago)

Carsmile - no idea, but i wouldn't put anything past them (if it's ntl you mean, not Eavis). btw - pub idea is grate. work tomorrow may be painful.

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:07 (twenty years ago)

Is that Tony from Hollyoaks?

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:08 (twenty years ago)

the very same!

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:09 (twenty years ago)

Now I'm getting paranoiod because I've just used ilx knowledge to help the less computer literate, even though I can't go unless I get to work it.

Anna (Anna), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:09 (twenty years ago)

the whole citizencard thing is weird. i'm not a citizen here. can i get one? it sounds like 'residents' can get them, but then what's the whole point?

are there any of these people that will come to a FAP and be referees for everyone? doctor, dentist, bank manager, solicitor, your accountant or any police officer or civil servant

colette on toby's computer (tsg20), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:10 (twenty years ago)

Yeah!

It says non uk people can get special id cards or some mad idea, do I have to swear allegiance to the Queen? If I don't will I not be allowed to use the gym facilities at Westminster?

Ronan MP Belfast East (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:10 (twenty years ago)

oops my yeah was "yeah it's Tony"

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:10 (twenty years ago)

hmm, civil servant could be a rather broad definition...

does it have licensee on the list? then we can get mr barang to do it for us...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:13 (twenty years ago)

hmm on that website it says they cost £9 but on the glasto website it said we were getting them free...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:15 (twenty years ago)

also, weel done citizen card for supplying a link to glastoburyfestivals.co.uk, rather than glastoNburyfestivals.co.uk

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:16 (twenty years ago)

they're free if you click on this: http://www.citizencard.net/glastonbury/

fuck only knows why they're making that so hard to find though.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:18 (twenty years ago)

collette, you missed one off the list:

A doctor, dentist, bank manager, solicitor, accountant, employer,
police officer or civil servant may act as a referee unless they are a relative

so your employer can do it...

it's linked on the glasto site, but not on the citcard site.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:19 (twenty years ago)

It will always be glasto bury to me.

Hold on. I'm a coming. I might even clean my tent.

I referee for passports, I don't see why i couldn't for this (I are civil servant).

Pete (Pete), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:21 (twenty years ago)

this is mental, it says employer on the front page, but then not on the drop down you have to fill in, where it also adds TEACHER. good god, i'm 30 for fucks sake...

i was thinking you might count on that count too. they will be ringing you at work, how many phone calls do you want ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:24 (twenty years ago)

Carsmile - are you still on, or have you gone down the pub already?

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:25 (twenty years ago)

Someone calm my fears and tell me I haven't just given my friends false hope.

Anna (Anna), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:25 (twenty years ago)

hmm, would my boss count as a civil servant too?

i'm here mr r.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:25 (twenty years ago)

i can't believe we've all fallen for FASCIST new "labour"'s TORY identity "so called" entitlement card.

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:25 (twenty years ago)

anna, what ilx knowledge did you use?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:26 (twenty years ago)

oh take yr passport then alan ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:26 (twenty years ago)

carsmile - ian can't get tickets - could you try, and I'll give you the details when you get to the page?

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:26 (twenty years ago)

btw - that includes my debit card details - you can ring me

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:27 (twenty years ago)

blimey, ok. this address works. i'm in.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:28 (twenty years ago)

Ronan's link. Went through and got same message the rest of you have posted. I'm just feeling jittery because fucking your own ticket up is one thing, letting down four people is another.

Anna (Anna), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:29 (twenty years ago)

Ring me on [Pete's number removed] - I'll ring you straight back

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:29 (twenty years ago)

well everyone else on here is in exactly the same position, fret not petal.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:30 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, I think it's because I'm not actually going. But thanks.

Anna (Anna), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:31 (twenty years ago)

my flatmate's a civil servant! i dunno if he'd referee you guys though

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:31 (twenty years ago)

Ah it's surely ok, that's the link from the site. Shame you can't come along Anna : (

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:31 (twenty years ago)

Sucks doesn't it. Still, you never know I could be aided by the power of the British media, but it's a bit of a long shot.

Anna (Anna), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:33 (twenty years ago)

So...has anybody *not* managed to get tickets? It seems everyone I've spoken to/heard from has managed it, which I find somewhat eerie.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:34 (twenty years ago)

I always intend to try and go for free someday, but not this time I guess.

x-post, apparently some people are getting "not enough tickets left to FULFILL your order" messages now. could it be sold out?

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:35 (twenty years ago)

that will be the queue full. then when that's processed, a proportion will be spoiled and duplicates, so they can resubscribe some more tixor

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:37 (twenty years ago)

I'm in.

ID-wise, I'm going to show up at the gates with my Irish passport (because I have to bring it what with being foreign), and if they don't accept that I'll wave my NSK-Laibach passport at them and threaten to get industrial on their asses.

DV (dirtyvicar), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:40 (twenty years ago)

In British Media we trust: unlike Prince Charles (mind you I can't stand Nicholas Witchell - ever since he sat on those lesbians).

Pete (Pete), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:41 (twenty years ago)

also, if there's an admin about can they remove pete's mobile number please, thank you.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:49 (twenty years ago)

um, i'm getting "page address is incorrect" rather than "oage connot be displayed", could this be due to a time out since i first typed the info in?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:54 (twenty years ago)

(i'm trying to book for someone else now)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:57 (twenty years ago)

Ooooh. I have no idea. The intricacies of the modern intermaweb pass me by. Although I suspect it's either a red herring or some horrible dns problem.

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:57 (twenty years ago)

I do know that it shouldn't care how long ago you opened the info page - it should still work. Betting is that they've taken that page offline

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Sunday, 3 April 2005 08:59 (twenty years ago)

ratsocks

"the service is currently busy, please try later"

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 09:00 (twenty years ago)

same as what i've been getting from the off. Um, up to you whether you keep trying, but *thankyou* *thankyou* *thankyou* for your help so far

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Sunday, 3 April 2005 09:03 (twenty years ago)

argh mass confusion matti is saying ian and sam have tickets...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 09:05 (twenty years ago)

I'd stop then. I'll try to get hold of ian.... Thanks again.

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Sunday, 3 April 2005 09:07 (twenty years ago)

i've just spoken to him and explained the situation. will await matti's reply, nothing seems to be happening at the mo anyway.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 09:08 (twenty years ago)

Have spoken to ian - he'll ring matti to find out

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Sunday, 3 April 2005 09:09 (twenty years ago)

k - crossed wires - knew there was a reason i really should read the new messages posted. Cheers Steve...

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Sunday, 3 April 2005 09:10 (twenty years ago)

hehehe, all the fun of the fair :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 09:11 (twenty years ago)

aloud.com says sold out

emsk, Sunday, 3 April 2005 09:13 (twenty years ago)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 09:16 (twenty years ago)

hmm, not getting that myself emsk.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 09:17 (twenty years ago)

oh yeah, it's gone now.

2hours 15 mins (possibly less)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 09:18 (twenty years ago)

Carsmile - THANKYOU for your efforts. You'll get the same from ian, I'm sure...

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Sunday, 3 April 2005 09:20 (twenty years ago)

wahey my sister is going too!

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 09:27 (twenty years ago)

Also also - whoever deleted my number - THANKYOU. I'm as sharp as a beach ball, I really am.

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Sunday, 3 April 2005 09:37 (twenty years ago)

the only thing over-ruling my schaudenfreudtastic disappointment that you have all managed to book so easily is my occasional regret that i am not/will not be among ye for the thrills.

Sven Basted (blueski), Sunday, 3 April 2005 10:21 (twenty years ago)

has anyone found that they've booked tickets for the Glastonbury Towne Brass Band Festival by mistake?

DV (dirtyvicar), Sunday, 3 April 2005 10:25 (twenty years ago)

DV, that was what we were all booking for, where are you going?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 10:26 (twenty years ago)

easiest phishing scam ever!

(joke)

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 10:34 (twenty years ago)

Burr Burr Burr

DV (dirtyvicar), Sunday, 3 April 2005 10:42 (twenty years ago)

Confirmation email received, bish bosh, hats off to Eavis newfangled interweb skillZoR though it does illuminate quite what a monstrous cockup last year was.

I'm off to the office now to do a bit of work.

Tom (Groke), Sunday, 3 April 2005 10:54 (twenty years ago)

Confirmation email through! See you all there!

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 3 April 2005 11:06 (twenty years ago)

no confirmation e-mail so far...

piscesboy, Sunday, 3 April 2005 11:21 (twenty years ago)

Sorted.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Sunday, 3 April 2005 11:29 (twenty years ago)

still waiting on confirmation, but I was 20 minutes, probably a few thousand people behind you guys!

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 11:33 (twenty years ago)

My confirmation email says it was sent at 8:50AM, 20 minutes before I even booked.

Eavis just used HIPPY ESP to allocate tickets - the website was just for show!

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:06 (twenty years ago)

just got email confirmation!

EMS, Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:08 (twenty years ago)

I have a friend who has her own irrational Glastonbury fear:

She lives in Spain, but her UK friend booked her ticket for her, along with his own. He got them OK, but says it's ambiguous on the conditions whether a UK person can book for an overseas one. So now she's worried they'll spot that one of the addresses is Spanish and not let the sale go through. I told her to stop worrying, that there'd be no reason for them to do that. Actually, the more I think about it, the more absurd it seems.

Hooray we're all going to Glastonbury.

COME ON YOU COWS THE PARTY'S NOT OVER YET

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:09 (twenty years ago)

I had a similar worry and booked my gf's tickets as my address cos I figured it doesn't matter, they don't post them anyway and I'll be with her I assume, going in.

haha that cows thing, brilliant!

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:12 (twenty years ago)

like, not to make your friend worry more, but it did say "any tickets for UK addresses booked through the overseas order form will be cancelled".

maybe the reverse, ie your friends situation, is not frowned upon so much?

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:13 (twenty years ago)

You just posted that so you could say 'my gf' again. It's very sweet.

x-post

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:14 (twenty years ago)

confirmed!

sweet as.

piscesboy, Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:15 (twenty years ago)

I'm pretty sure the "any tickets for UK addresses booked through the overseas order form will be cancelled" is to stop people using the overseas booking form as a way of circumventing the 'new credit cards for UK sales' rule.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:17 (twenty years ago)

'no credit cards', I mean.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:17 (twenty years ago)

oh yeah, perhaps. I didn't post it for that reason N you soppy fool you.

I still haven't got confirmation. hmm

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:19 (twenty years ago)

woo! we went for breakfast at paul, which was fantastic, but then both felt so shit that we've taken a nap. anyway, i've just woken up to find that the confirmation email came through 20 mins ago. woo!

where are all the stories of people unable to buy tickets? is it possible that the demand was so much lower this year?

toby @ colette's (a2lette), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:22 (twenty years ago)

my only paranoia is about the issue number, it would only let me put in two digits instead of the usual last 3, so I put in the last 2.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:23 (twenty years ago)

although this paranoia is unfounded seeing as I just got the confirmation email! yeah!

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:25 (twenty years ago)

not me yet :-(

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:25 (twenty years ago)

Maybe a bit, toby, but mainly I think it's because we assumed last year that 200000 people were trying to get through from the off. In fact, there really was an unnecessarily narrow systems bottleneck.

Some people want to go, but just don't sit there persistently from 9am. Especially after last year's experience, when tickets were still 'available' after 24 hours: there was little advantage gained by starting right from the word go then. So maybe these things are detined to go in cycles and next time (2007 eek!) everyone will know you can get one quite easily if you start early and it will be a nightmare again.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:28 (twenty years ago)

Just to boost your paranoia again Ronan, I don't think they have actually checked card details yet. There's a note at the bottom that says "This order is subject to payment being received by us". But in the case of slight mismatches, they'd get in touch to sort it out rather than cancel your order. I bought my computer online with the wrong card expiry date and when I realised and got through to them they said "Oh - well it didn't seem to matter, the payment's gone through anyway".

Anyway, this is all irrelevant: when it comes to issue nos, 003 is the same as 03, surely?

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:33 (twenty years ago)

GOT IT! lovely e-mail mmmmmmmmmmmm

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:35 (twenty years ago)

I love you guys. Especially Carsmile. And Tom for crumbling under the pressure AS WE KNEW HE WOULD.

Alan's mystery +1 = Emma? Does anyone know if Magnus is in?

Both DC siblings also in. They might camp with us this year.

I'm also happy to note that Steve's "no one is coming!" paid off as we now seem to have almost as big a camp as last year.

I am now going to go and sit in the sun and enjoy a nice pint.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:36 (twenty years ago)

I will be booking into a spa and drinking fine wines and sleeping on the softest Egyptian cotton sheets and will laugh at the thought of you all up to your stinky armpits in mud and perry and greasy noodles

Jaunty Emma (Alan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:37 (twenty years ago)

I've just been doing that for most of this weekend :)

Wedding had four best men singing Rhinestone Cowboy. It was like some horrific parallel universe where they had been allowed to clone Pete.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:39 (twenty years ago)

Emma, surely you realise that this year, the gentrification of Glastonbury enters its final stage, and as such, spas, fine wines and the softest Egyptian cotton sheets will be commonplace?

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:40 (twenty years ago)

http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/

Sorry but all tickets for Glastonbury Festival 2005 have now been sold.  There will be no further release of tickets and the Festival is not keeping a cancellation list.   If you have not already got a confirmed order you will not be able to get a ticket for this year.  Anyone now offering tickets for sale is utterly bogus, do not purchase tickets from unofficial sources, this is not permitted under the tickets Terms & Conditions - you may lose your money and will not gain entry to the Festival.

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:42 (twenty years ago)

Isn't a spa also a place where people go to get covered in mud for the fun of it?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:43 (twenty years ago)

They said that 'no further release' thing last year and then they did. What are they going to do with cancelled tickets then? Give them to the poor children?

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:44 (twenty years ago)

yes BUT THEN THEY GET TO BE SHOWERED DOWN and wrapped in fluffy white towels as opposed to drying off and being wrapped in a Joe Bananas blanket + kagoul

Jaunty Emma (Alan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:45 (twenty years ago)

i am hyped about seeing Joss Stone

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:47 (twenty years ago)

i am hyped about seeing Status Quo

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:48 (twenty years ago)

hang on - maybe you were serious

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:48 (twenty years ago)

i'm still waiting for e-mail confirmation that Ronan has a girlfriend

Sven Basted (blueski), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:50 (twenty years ago)

completeness sake i thought i'd add link to e-festivals line-up-rumour page

http://www.efestivals.co.uk/festivals/lineups.php?FestID=790

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:54 (twenty years ago)

grrr steve

re the issue number, it was actually XXX, so I used the last two digits, I don't know why it didn't let me use 3. I hope it's ok. I should hope they would just double check something like that with me anyway, given all the other info is right. but maybe not.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:57 (twenty years ago)

You've had XXX issues of your bank card?

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 3 April 2005 12:59 (twenty years ago)

no it's a credit card, the issue number is always 3 digit like that as far as I recall, it's the one on the back, I don't think it means how many times it's been issued. I don't have a clue really!

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 13:00 (twenty years ago)

So where are we going to camp then?

Tom (Groke), Sunday, 3 April 2005 13:01 (twenty years ago)

that's a security number Ronan, you shouldn't publicise it. credit cards don't have issue number!

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 13:02 (twenty years ago)

perhaps a moderator can delete?

that's odd, they asked for an issue number on the form, I presume they'll discount my mad ramblings then? I sure hope so.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 13:03 (twenty years ago)

it did say "issue number (if the card has one)"

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 13:03 (twenty years ago)

done - i might be just being over cautious. ignore me, i have never had a credit card. which went down well with the mortgage adviser!

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 13:03 (twenty years ago)

thanks alot. I just hope the number I put down appears ridiculous enough that they don't cancel my order or something, maybe I should try and contact them.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 13:06 (twenty years ago)

Issue number is only for Maestro, I think. You've given them a part of your security number, as Alan says. I'm sure they'll just ignore it.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 13:07 (twenty years ago)

yeah I just got confused, I think when booking flights they do ask for the security number.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 13:09 (twenty years ago)

does anyone know how this security number, only introduced in the last year or so, improves card security? Is it the "Raiders of the Lost Ark" technique, like where that n@z1 has the info on one side burned into his hand, but the other side is important too. so one side = easy to forge, 2 is not. if you don't know. or something

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 13:10 (twenty years ago)

According to someone one on glastonburyforum.co.uk, one can ring 0115 912 9129 (or 0044 115 912 9129 for you I guess) to get confirmation that a booking has gone through.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 13:11 (twenty years ago)

You should be OK with that Ronan, issue numbers are usually on bank/debit cards and show how many times your card has been issued. I would guess if your card doesn't have one (its usually on the front near the expiry date) then you won't have arsed up your application by putting what would seem to be a random number in its place.

*disclaimer : I have no idea if this will cock up your application or not, but I can't see that it will*

(multiple xpost)

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 3 April 2005 13:11 (twenty years ago)

I don't know Alan, but I'm guessing that because counterfoils don't provide a record of it, it puts fraudsters in possession of these in a weaker position when it comes to buying things.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 13:14 (twenty years ago)

Ah yeah it's probably fine, it'll just look like a typo I suppose. now to whinge about the lineup.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 13:15 (twenty years ago)

the security code is now mandatory when you (shop owner) want to do a mail order. it's much safer than before. also, if you print out the slip, 70 percent of the card number is crossed out so if someone finds it, they can't do anything. (it also tells the creditcard company what type of consumer you are, i mean, how much you spend on your car, etc etc)

nathalie doing a soft foot shuffle (stevie nixed), Sunday, 3 April 2005 13:16 (twenty years ago)

"does anyone know how this security number, only introduced in the last year or so, improves card security? Is it the "Raiders of the Lost Ark" technique, like where that n@z1 has the info on one side burned into his hand, but the other side is important too."

Yeah, now you basically need the card number, the sec number AND the expire date. So basically chances are VERY slim it'll be misused. :-)

nathalie doing a soft foot shuffle (stevie nixed), Sunday, 3 April 2005 13:17 (twenty years ago)

The 'void if removed' bit of my debit card with the security number on (only that bit of the signature strip, mind) fell off the day I got it, and the card has seemed generally flimsier than anything else I've used before. I have been blaming chip and pin for this. Meanwhile I've been using it without a security number and have generally got away with it - the glasto page didn't ask, for instance.

Tom (Groke), Sunday, 3 April 2005 13:25 (twenty years ago)

haha, i didn't go back to bed in the end, i went to the park and drank cava with my other ticket-booking friends. what a glorious day!! i think the weather today is an omen, for good weather at glastonbury.

pete b, Sunday, 3 April 2005 13:37 (twenty years ago)

I've just remembered that after I went back to bed I dreamed of Glastonbury. I had a rubbish time - everyone was being mean to me and I got stroppy about the 'food village' closing so early.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 13:40 (twenty years ago)

N. your friend with the spanish friend should be fine, that's how tom booked YMOF's ticket last year and it was fine (just in case that hasn't been cleared up)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 14:10 (twenty years ago)

Ta!

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 14:13 (twenty years ago)

I got my Dinosaur Jr tickets yesterday!

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 3 April 2005 14:17 (twenty years ago)

I still haven't got a confirmation mail! Oh no, I R afeared. Maybe that Glastonbury Towne Brass Band Festival will be my fate after all.

DV (dirtyvicar), Sunday, 3 April 2005 15:37 (twenty years ago)

No confirmation here, either. I called the seetickets number given above and after a (v long) wait they said we should wait 24 hours for the confirmation.

Hey ho.

Mooro (Mooro), Sunday, 3 April 2005 16:06 (twenty years ago)

one of my friends who knows things says that they have to manually work through the orders and send the confirmations. Mine was in quite late, so they just haven't got to me yet, probably the same with you.

are you going, Mooro? Or are you just sending the wife along as per previous years?

DV (dirtyvicar), Sunday, 3 April 2005 16:32 (twenty years ago)

I r got ticket. Hurrah.

Patrick Evans, Sunday, 3 April 2005 16:38 (twenty years ago)

My work lackey is running a food stall this year so free falafels all around in the name of Israeli/Palestinian understanding.

I have been drinking all afternoon in celebration. It has been great. Yay Glastonibury.

Pete (Pete), Sunday, 3 April 2005 17:12 (twenty years ago)

Too uncomfortable for me, DV. The missus & a couple of her mates are going/hoping to go.

Mooro (Mooro), Sunday, 3 April 2005 18:53 (twenty years ago)

Tom - Do we camp:

a) In the nice plush scenic meadows where Colette and friends camped last year, full of nice people and easily accessible for all parts of the site?

b) Wherever there appears to be a large group of cute-looking girls who don't appear to know how to put their tents up and would therefore appreciate a knowing hand?

c) In the first available patch that looks like it could contain a large group of interweb mentalists and is NOWHERE NEAR THE NEW BANDS TENT DANCE COMPLEX.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 3 April 2005 19:22 (twenty years ago)

Also YMOF Update please!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 3 April 2005 19:45 (twenty years ago)

why are people so exited for this festival? looking at the line up it's just as boring all the major(ok, most of them not all) european music festivals.

dont give me that crap about there being a "wonderful atmosphere" or "it's not about the bands". fuck that. the price for going is outrageous!

Lovelace (Lovelace), Sunday, 3 April 2005 22:16 (twenty years ago)

The last three years' Glastonburys have been some of the happiest weekends of my life. What more do you need?

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 22:25 (twenty years ago)

hey look - this thread was going on the whole time and i never even noticed.

general concensus among people i know is that sales went smoother this time, and everyone who got out of bed and stuck with it got a ticket - although for £130 they should be getting out of bed and ringing me up for an hour, never mind the other way around.

p.s. my mate Stanislav Featherstonehaugh-Grrzzzdlanimaniciak bought a ticket but can't go now, so if anyone knows someone by that name who needs a ticket, let me know.

Lee F# (fsharp), Sunday, 3 April 2005 22:39 (twenty years ago)

It looks like most ppl from here have got their tickets, woo!

I got up before 9 not going to glastonbury & cursing everyone that was trying to get tickets. Come 10.30, i thought fuck it, why not, I was on the phone for about 15 mins (using last year's cheat number) & I got tickets no sweat apart from the "we don't take visa" scare! So who's going from here?

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Monday, 4 April 2005 08:05 (twenty years ago)

Also YMOF Update please!

Hmmph? I'm sorted. Up, buy tickets, back to bed.

I have to make the same trip of pain to Shepton Mallet as Ronan does. There is some obscure arsedness/politeness sweetspot within me where if I'd known Tom was going, I might have asked him if he was in a position to get a ticket for me again, but I didn't ask anyone else the same thing. NB I do not of course begrudge Tom his position as free agent.

All that remains is to make a tape. Oh, and buy a tent, I seem to remember fucking the last one into a bin when we left last year, as the main poles were starting to resmble the banboo from Drunken Master 2

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 4 April 2005 08:27 (twenty years ago)

Yeah sorry, I'd only half-decided on Friday night and then there was a possibility (if it had been hard to get them) of just giving up on Sunday and going back to bed, so I didn't want to take on the responsibility of getting one for anyone else.

Tom (Groke), Monday, 4 April 2005 08:30 (twenty years ago)

Haha I was also pregnant with that possibility at half four on Sunday morning.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 4 April 2005 08:45 (twenty years ago)

Has anyone in the UK checked to see if they've taken the money?

Tom (Groke), Monday, 4 April 2005 09:13 (twenty years ago)

Pah.

My firstborn's due on July 10th, so I'm not allowed to go.

Hope it rains.

Buffalo Stan (Buffalo Stan), Monday, 4 April 2005 09:20 (twenty years ago)

no money gone yet. eek. i'd forgotten about that... i'm far too close to my overdraft limit for the 4th of the month.

toby (tsg20), Monday, 4 April 2005 09:23 (twenty years ago)

I need to get a new debit card cos this one is falling apart but I can't now until the glastonbury cash goes out (well I COULD but I don't want even the slightest risk of it not working)

Tom (Groke), Monday, 4 April 2005 09:27 (twenty years ago)

It should be ok to get a new debit card, cos it will have the same info on it!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Monday, 4 April 2005 09:36 (twenty years ago)

This thread isn't nearly as fun as last year's.

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 4 April 2005 10:03 (twenty years ago)

YES IT IS!!

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 4 April 2005 10:27 (twenty years ago)

good lud, even THREADS about Glastonbury are now accused of being 'not as good as they used to be'...

Sven Basted (blueski), Monday, 4 April 2005 10:53 (twenty years ago)

No confirmation yet :(

DV, did you get yours?

Mooro (Mooro), Monday, 4 April 2005 11:00 (twenty years ago)

have you checked yr spam box mooro (sorry teaching grandparents to suck eggs, just checking is all)?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 4 April 2005 11:23 (twenty years ago)

Its not my box, its the missus' (oo er). Can't really check that until I get home from work this evening. Thank you for the suggestion, good idea. Norton Spam Guard might be being over-zealous.

Mmmmm, spam box.

Mooro (Mooro), Monday, 4 April 2005 11:26 (twenty years ago)

I hear My Missus' Spam Box are playing the Pyramid Stage this year.

So pleased everyone's go in. Roll on June! And July for Truck! And August for Green Man! What a lovely lovely year it's going to be...

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Monday, 4 April 2005 12:15 (twenty years ago)

Barry I note a marked decline in the quality of your fun-hating this year. I want bigger and better prophecies of doom and destruction, please.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 4 April 2005 12:16 (twenty years ago)

For all of you looking for a bummer, my Glasto tix experience has been pretty crap. Only 5 of 7 tix booked - my friends who I am supposed to go with from Canada couldn't even upload the booking page, I booked 4 out of 5 from the UK myself. There were THREE of them trying. Really sad, as Lisa & Dean have never been and were really stoked to go. I'm not sure I buy that whole "no cancellation list" crud either, but do we really want to bank on that? Does anyone know anyone who would like to cancel their tix and tell Eavis to donate them to my friends and/or have the names switched by some sort of magical marker?

To be smug, one of my Cdn friends was sure he would get tix as he was convinced that Glasto MUST give priority to international/overseas sales. Part of his logic had to do with tourism and the GNP. Though I have clearly already been proven right, there is part of me tempted to repeat "told ya so" over and over again to him. I'm even sadder that I managed to get his tix and not the ones for Lisa & Dean.

Ach, I'm going to eat chocolate in an attempt to overcome my depression. Lemme know if anyone hears anything positive about cancellations etc.

Tricia Smith, Tuesday, 5 April 2005 12:35 (twenty years ago)

i just got an email from the hostel in roskilde offering me a room there-- i'd tried to book last july and it was already full, but they've had a cancellation. i can't afford to do both this year...decisions, decisions!

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 12:57 (twenty years ago)

I'd like to go to denmark.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 12:59 (twenty years ago)

I found out today that I won't be able to get time off work for Glastonbury. Someone else on our team is going and has booked the three days off already. We're a small team working on tight deadlines so it'd leave us short-staffed. So that's me shafted (I can't really complain, seeing as my boss has passed up the festival for the same reason).

I presume I can cancel my ticket and get my money back, right? I will be very pissed off indeed if this means I've just chucked £125 down the drain.

The really annoying thing is that the person who's book the time off doesn't even have a ticket yet, but it "90% certain" he'll get one. So maybe I should put off the cancellation for now/try to come to some arrangement with him, but I'm not holding out much hope.

FUCK! FUCK! FUCK!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 16:56 (twenty years ago)

What a load of cock :(

Find out when is the absolute latest you can cancel and do it then. "90% certain" might well be completely meaningless.

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 16:58 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, that was my plan.

This was the paranoia I had dared not mention on this thread in case I tempted fate.

Alan can you please program something that will automatically hide all Glastonbury threads for me?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 17:04 (twenty years ago)

you could still come for the weekend and leave late sunday night?? maybe even wangle a half-day on friday and get there for late night friday?

possibly

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 17:05 (twenty years ago)

Thing is, I'm not sure it'd be worth it for that little time at the festival, not to mention a bit depressing (especially leaving on Sunday night). I think I'd rather get the money back and put it towards a flight.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 17:14 (twenty years ago)

Thank God there is New Order and Basement Jaxx to sweeten this bitter pill. And that I have a cool new job I really like, which I am having to repeat to myself at the moment, because I'm not sure I agree with it right now.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 17:35 (twenty years ago)

Glasto website says that you can cancel your tix for a full refund before May 13th at 6:00pm. I am assuming that they are NOT including your booking fee, but at least that's £125 back.

It's possible that IF you have to cancel, they will still send an email asking you if you want tix - I know this sounds weird, but this is exactly what happened to me last year. Should this be the case, would you be willing to donate your ticket to the needy? i.e. my friends? God, it's all about me isn't it?

Your co-worker should know that the odds of getting a ticket at this stage are more like 10% unless he's planning on whoring himself out to Eavis, and I'm not really sure that would really work. Well, maybe, how hot is he?

Regardless your co-worker is acting like a cock, and I hope you go instead. I like you better.

Tricia Smith, Wednesday, 6 April 2005 17:39 (twenty years ago)

i've done friday to last thing sunday before and still really enjoyed myself. jsl

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 17:48 (twenty years ago)

You should totally still come Matt. I've left on a Sunday night before (during Roger Waters!) out of preference. I find leaving on a high and avoiding the queues and the stinking, decaying feel of Monday morning very appealing.

Missing Thursday is more of a wrench, but again, at least the roads will be clearer.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 18:05 (twenty years ago)

Despite my greedy guts wanting your ticket for my Cdn friends, I agree with Alan and Alba, I think you should go all the same. With the line-up as it stands now (I know, I know), Sunday night you'll miss what? Kylie? Brian Wilson? Maybe I'm nuts, but they're not really that high on my list.

Tricia Smith, Wednesday, 6 April 2005 18:08 (twenty years ago)

If National Express ran coaches through the night it would be much better.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 18:35 (twenty years ago)

this year I am NOT sleeping in Bristol airport. no way.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 18:38 (twenty years ago)

tricia is nuts. still do it tho

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 19:03 (twenty years ago)

Only just found out Pam & her mates got their tix this afternoon, & only cos we called seetickets.

"Oh, would you like us to send you an e-mail, then?"

"Duh, YES!"

Mooro (Mooro), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 19:18 (twenty years ago)

we should certainly leave it until the first week of May, hopefully (aw that sounds dreadful, but still) your cow-orker will haf given up by then...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 19:27 (twenty years ago)

Has anyone else had the money taken fromt heir account yet. Cos I ain't.

Here comes the ph34r again.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 7 April 2005 15:34 (twenty years ago)

The law on mail order is that they can't take money until dispatch occurs.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 7 April 2005 16:49 (twenty years ago)

Well that's funny because last year tickets weren't printed for weeks (months?) after they took payment.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 7 April 2005 17:46 (twenty years ago)

I hate to add to people's fear, but the money was taken from our account on Wednesday!

Sorry to hear the news Matt, all is not lost. I'm sure you could blag Friday afternoon off & at least go down for some of the w/e. You could always leave early hours of Monday. I will be leaving at this time, so if you need a lift to somewhere on the way, just let me know! :-)

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Friday, 8 April 2005 07:11 (twenty years ago)

do you drive, matt? if you rent a car and can brag half a day off friday you can still make most of the thing (last year i arrived "in time" on friday night for David Gray - but then REM woohoo), and i left Sunday just after Sigor Ros and missed out on Moby, a little boo hoo but i got over it, and still had a grand time.

i still haven't experienced the thursday night perry, of course
