But according to India Daily, that's not the half of it. The headline is something on the alarmist side:
Recent Sumatra earthquakes precursor to probable mega Volcano in 2012 that can end human civilization
Grammar notwithstanding, it's not good news: "If Toba or along Toba the volcanic eruption take place, it can bring the human civilization to its knees. This has the potential 3000 cubic Kilometer of eruption. That can be so devastating that earth may experience a drop in temperature of 30degrees Fahrenheit for many years. It can actually larger than the one Toba experienced 74,000 years back."

Chile Volcano Erupts With Ash and Lightning
May 6, 2008—After 9,000 years of silence, Chile's Chaitén volcano is erupting with lava, ash—and lightning.
Since the volcano awoke on May 2, it has continued erupting intermittently, blanketing the area in ash and forcing more than 4,000 people to flee.
The mingling of lightning and ash seen above may be a "dirty thunderstorm."
The little-understood storms may be sparked when rock fragments, ash, and ice particles in the plume collide to produce static charges—just as ice particles collide to create charge in regular thunderstorms.

Neon lights have different colors depending on the composition of the gas where the electric flash happens. This lightning isn't happening in regular air but in volcanic gases.

this is the one to look forward to, eyjafjallajokull isn't shit by comparison (or so they say)
Following the 2010 eruptions, on 20 April 2010 Icelandic President Ólafur Grímsson said "the time for Katla to erupt is coming close ... we [Iceland] have prepared ... it is high time for European governments and airline authorities all over the world to start planning for the eventual Katla eruption"[15].
also laki
The system erupted over an 8 month period during 1783-1784 from the Laki fissure and the adjoining Grímsvötn volcano, pouring out an estimated 14 km3 (3.4 cu mi) of basalt lava and clouds of poisonous hydrofluoric acid/sulfur-dioxide compounds that killed over 50% of Iceland's livestock population, leading to famine which killed approximately 25%[4] of the population. The Laki eruption has been estimated to have killed over two million people[5] globally, making it the deadliest volcanic eruption in historical times. The drop in temperatures, due to the sulfuric dioxide gases spewed into the northern hemisphere, caused crop failures in Europe, droughts in India, and Japan experienced its worst famine.
