(seriously, wtf has happened to michael keaton's career?)

strng hlkngtn, Thursday, 12 May 2005 21:26 (twenty years ago)

Oh man that IS Keaton. I completely missed that.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 12 May 2005 21:27 (twenty years ago)

at work today:

co-worker: have you seen the trailer yet? herbie communicates by like bouncing or something.
me: i bet he's not the only things in the movie that attempt to communicate that way

strng hlkngtn, Thursday, 12 May 2005 21:28 (twenty years ago)

Saw this trailer before Hitchhiker's and was all 'the hell?' -- I knew a new Herbie film was coming, just not this. He's quite the pimp in this one.

TS: Keaton vs. Vigoda

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 12 May 2005 21:29 (twenty years ago)

i plan on loving this, as i will be fully loaded

d'ngullberry (noisemeltdown), Thursday, 12 May 2005 21:29 (twenty years ago)

Speaking of that, is it true that Disney did so CGI stuff to make them look...um, smaller? Cause that's what i heard.

X-post

Doobie Keebler (Charles McCain), Thursday, 12 May 2005 21:30 (twenty years ago)

it's gonna be another movie where it's me, two other perverts, and a brownie troop in the theater on a wednesday afternoon

strng hlkngtn, Thursday, 12 May 2005 21:31 (twenty years ago)

strongo you seen the poster - it's superfresh

j blount (papa la bas), Thursday, 12 May 2005 21:32 (twenty years ago)

Lohan in that racing jumpsuit may be too much for me.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 May 2005 21:33 (twenty years ago)

is it different from this?

d'ngullberry (noisemeltdown), Thursday, 12 May 2005 21:34 (twenty years ago)

it's gonna be another movie where it's me, two other perverts, and a brownie troop in the theater on a wednesday afternoon

So just the usual then, eh? Doesn't that get expensive?

M. White (Miguelito), Thursday, 12 May 2005 21:35 (twenty years ago)

The poster for Herbie looks like the cover of new Riddim Driven Bubble Up CD.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 12 May 2005 21:35 (twenty years ago)

It's definitely of the now.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 12 May 2005 21:36 (twenty years ago)

CGI=My dumb shorthand for Special Effects Generated by Computer.

Doobie Keebler (Charles McCain), Thursday, 12 May 2005 21:38 (twenty years ago)

judging by the preview they may have!

strng hlkngtn, Thursday, 12 May 2005 21:39 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, I was joking. The drugs made "them" smaller.

d'ngullberry (noisemeltdown), Thursday, 12 May 2005 21:39 (twenty years ago)

also, LL as a blonde...boooooooo

strng hlkngtn, Thursday, 12 May 2005 21:39 (twenty years ago)

That picture is definitely photoshopped.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 May 2005 21:42 (twenty years ago)

It's definitely disturbing.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 12 May 2005 21:43 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, but it's funny.

d'ngullberry (noisemeltdown), Thursday, 12 May 2005 21:43 (twenty years ago)

I just want to say how happy I am that Mr. Hulkington is hulking around.

I also want to admit that this movie looks perfectly cast.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 12 May 2005 21:47 (twenty years ago)

i am legitimately excited about this film

AUSCHWITZ MAKES ME HORNY

The Sensational Sulk (sexyDancer), Thursday, 12 May 2005 21:49 (twenty years ago)

I'm going to gain 10 pounds in protest.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 12 May 2005 21:51 (twenty years ago)

Also, does she not realize that her hair looks like something you'd buy on a stick at a carnival?

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 12 May 2005 21:51 (twenty years ago)

I wanted to watch the trailer. Honest. I couldn't make it all the way through. I - I - I wanted to see Lindsay Lohan and her boobs. I doubt this is the movie that will let that happen. And she should never go blonde again. Honestly. We are living in a strange time when redheads don't want to be redheads...

Jimmy Mod, Sultan of Sexxitime (ModJ), Thursday, 12 May 2005 21:53 (twenty years ago)

WOW YOU LOOK 80 YRS OLD.
THAT'S HOT!

The Sensational Sulk (sexyDancer), Thursday, 12 May 2005 21:55 (twenty years ago)

She looks really perturbed by something.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:01 (twenty years ago)

I'm going to sleep with a big-breasted girl in protest.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:06 (twenty years ago)

someone needs to pull the mean girls weight gainer trick on her, stat

strng hlkngtn, Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:08 (twenty years ago)

She needs 50 Cents workout routine! Get the body oil!

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:13 (twenty years ago)

cad

strng hlkngtn, Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:14 (twenty years ago)

"Herbie, she's too young for you" = a little too thinly-veiled?

Hurting (Hurting), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:14 (twenty years ago)

Just hold her down and force feed her a double cheeseburger. How hard could it be?

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:14 (twenty years ago)

I think the Bad News Bears remake will be better. I hope it is NC-17.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:15 (twenty years ago)

Tough! She's got those sharp little nails!

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:15 (twenty years ago)

Pshaw. I could break that bitch.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:15 (twenty years ago)

I think she looks fine. People, she's a high profile actress in Hollywood, there'll be plenty of time to eat later!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:16 (twenty years ago)

Spencer you are a sick man.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:17 (twenty years ago)

is it so wrong that i want my unapproachable starlets to have dumps like a truck?

strng hlkngtn, Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:19 (twenty years ago)

Alex, I'm serious! It doesn't look like she's dying or anything to me.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:20 (twenty years ago)

I'm going to tepidly back Spencer on this. Body image control is a part of the movie industry and that's not going to change. She is better as a redhead but she doesn't look emaciatedly skinny to me. Did she get a breast reduction or is that from shedding the pounds?

M. White (Miguelito), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:21 (twenty years ago)

I'd just like them to look like they eat once in a while (dumps like a truck would be a bonus!)

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:21 (twenty years ago)

I'm always slightly weirded out by the knee-jerk negative reaction to skinny women.

Jess on the other hand is merely 'expressing' a preference.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:23 (twenty years ago)

The fact that this is a HOLLYWOOD enforced image doesn't make it any less unappealing.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:23 (twenty years ago)

i've seen this trailer SOOOOOOOO many times

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:24 (twenty years ago)

incidentally i saw kicking & screaming yesterday and it was bad

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:24 (twenty years ago)

Obviously there are actors who take it too far, and that's a problem, but there are plenty who gain or lose weight to take on particular roles. Brad Pitt pumps a lot of iron so he can play Achilles etc.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:25 (twenty years ago)

you're killing my buzz, people

xp

strng hlkngtn, Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:25 (twenty years ago)

She doesn't look emaciated? She looks like fucking Skeletrix.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:25 (twenty years ago)

Again, I am 99% sure the picture in the red dress is photoshopped.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:27 (twenty years ago)

I hope so. The hair is still a nightmare.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:28 (twenty years ago)

"Obviously there are actors who take it too far, and that's a problem, but there are plenty who gain or lose weight to take on particular roles. Brad Pitt pumps a lot of iron so he can play Achilles etc."

This isn't about Robert DeNiro. This about a system which basically dictates that you can't weigh more than 105 and be in a film. And this isn't skinny. Some people are born skinny and have high metabolism. This is starvation + ridiculous amounts of exercise + plastic surgery. It's pretty sick.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:28 (twenty years ago)

People, people. We will never agree on Lindsey Lohan's ideal weight.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:29 (twenty years ago)

http://www.n-m-d.net/lohan.jpg

strng hlkngtn, Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:30 (twenty years ago)

Lindsey Lohan's ideal weight = the shot in the bikini, maybe 5 pounds more. Close thread, everyone go home.

Alan Conceicao (Alan Conceicao), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:30 (twenty years ago)

How is this demand that women be heavier any less dictatorial?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:31 (twenty years ago)

Personally I find Ms Lohan's body weight less of an issue than the fact that Herbie is an old, unsafe model of Beetle.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:32 (twenty years ago)

that's hollywood for you, tracer.

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:34 (twenty years ago)

did i ever mention on ilx that the vw bus my mom drove when i was a kid blew up?

strng hlkngtn, Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:35 (twenty years ago)

"How is this demand that women be heavier any less dictatorial?"

Oh yeah, that's totally just as bad except no one is doing it.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:36 (twenty years ago)

well, i am

strng hlkngtn, Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:39 (twenty years ago)

STRONGO'S DESIRES WILL TOPPLE HOLLYWOOD'S BODY IMAGE HEGEMONY!

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:40 (twenty years ago)

Perhaps Ms Lohan negotiated with Hollywood that in exchange for her forced starvation the movie would feature an older Beetle with generous mudflaps.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:44 (twenty years ago)

All those in favor of watching Luna break Lindsay Lohan's will, raise your hand...

With puppies...

Sexxitime (ModJ), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:45 (twenty years ago)

I find the notion that women should be round or curvy to be equally as arbitrary as anything that Hollywood supposedly "enforces."

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:51 (twenty years ago)

Whatever.

Nice dodge (Alex in SF), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:52 (twenty years ago)

people! let us not forget what bought us here today. namely an anthropomorphic car film

strng hlkngtn, Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:54 (twenty years ago)

I love you, Herbie.

Jimmy Mod, Sultan of Sexxitime (ModJ), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:56 (twenty years ago)

I sense a lot of uncalled-for venom in the statements here about her being too thin.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:57 (twenty years ago)

THE PRESIDENTIAL PRAYER TEAM??????

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:58 (twenty years ago)

Oh baby

Jimmy Mod, Sultan of Sexxitime (ModJ), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:58 (twenty years ago)

it's not really that arbitrary, but whatever

()ops (()()ps), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:00 (twenty years ago)

Why are you upset about people saying she's too thin? Who cares? I think she is, but I don't actually give a shit 'cause hey, her body, right? I just tend to want to force feed everyone a cheeseburger. Call it a character flaw if you must.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:02 (twenty years ago)

Luna, I haven't eaten dinner yet...

Jimmy Mod, Sultan of Sexxitime (ModJ), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:03 (twenty years ago)

C'mere...

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:03 (twenty years ago)

Frankly luna, I was a little put off by statements like: "I could break that bitch" and "She looks like fucking Skeletrix" among others.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:03 (twenty years ago)

lighten up, dude

()ops (()()ps), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:04 (twenty years ago)

don't worry poor widdew Windsay, Spencer will save you from those mean Internets!

Shakey Mo Coolier, Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:06 (twenty years ago)

Something many people forget in their railing at the 12-foot lizards who have enslaved Hollywood casting directors in their skinny hegemony is that the camera adds about 5-10 pounds.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:06 (twenty years ago)

Which it does.

Jimmy Mod, Sultan of Sexxitime (ModJ), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:06 (twenty years ago)

sigh

strng hlkngtn, Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:07 (twenty years ago)

But I'm not saying them about you, and unless she's your sister, I fail to see how you could take them so personally. I don't know her, you don't either, and I've said much worse about better people.

Besides, she DOES look too thin... assuming that picture is her and is not photoshopped. She looks like a lollipop with legs. I find that unattractive. From the discussion on this thread, it ain't just me... but I digress.

I apologize if I offended you - I talk a lot of shit, it's true, but it's usually all in jest, and I wouldn't intentionally offend someone.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:07 (twenty years ago)

the Skeletrix comment had me giggling. but wait, i must be considerate and touchy-feely unoffensive to every possible person on the planet! my bad

anyway, how bout that herbie?

()ops (()()ps), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:08 (twenty years ago)

No no, you didn't offend me. I know it's all in fun, but there's this edge to it that I'm curious about.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:08 (twenty years ago)

Also Jess, sorry to ruin your thread.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:11 (twenty years ago)

Oh no, I really don't hate her or anything... I guess I just have issues with heroin chic being the standard of gorgeous because it fucks so many little girls (and grown women) up. It pisses me off.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:11 (twenty years ago)

even the "fat" stars in Hollywood are weight-obsessed anorexics.

grr

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:14 (twenty years ago)

Let me repeat: THE CAMERA ADDS 5-10 POUNDS. People who want to look a certain weight ON MOTION-PICTURE FILM must actually weigh 5-10 pounds less than that. Something to keep in mind.

xpost looks like I missed the hug while I was shouting.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:15 (twenty years ago)

please explain this miracle of physics to me Tracer. Judging by what comes out of Hollywood its more like the camera SUBTRACTS 20 pounds.

Shakey Mo Collier, Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:16 (twenty years ago)

I can totally see a remake of Grumpy Old Men in like 30 years with LL, Frankie Muniz, and jason schwartzman.

Doobie Keebler (Charles McCain), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:44 (twenty years ago)

One last small thing, before the uabated Lohanfest continues:

But I'm not saying them about you, and unless she's your sister, I fail to see how you could take them so personally. I don't know her, you don't either, and I've said much worse about better people.

I have brought this subject up several times before with regards to other people. Also, you never know who knows who - not that I do, although I have met her and she seemed very nice.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:50 (twenty years ago)

Your search - "freckled thighs" - did not match any documents.

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Friday, 13 May 2005 01:48 (twenty years ago)

I guess I just have issues with heroin chic being the standard of gorgeous because it fucks so many little girls (and grown women) up. It pisses me off.

This of course makes sense, however, don't hate the player etc...

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 13 May 2005 01:53 (twenty years ago)

i don't think she goes up to random girls on the street and taunts them. lindsay and nicole are famous and therefore exist as both real living breathing people and images. attack the image. mock it. point out how ridiculous it is.

Remy (x Jeremy), Friday, 13 May 2005 02:32 (twenty years ago)

People, are you really THIS DENSE? Spencer is not passing judgement on Lindsey Lohan's physique one way or the other. He is not saying he likes her more when she's skinny, or that he likes her more when she's not skinny.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 13 May 2005 03:14 (twenty years ago)

I'll dance with you, too, Tracer.

Remy (x Jeremy), Friday, 13 May 2005 03:15 (twenty years ago)

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 13 May 2005 03:15 (twenty years ago)

Remy, much like Kevin Bacon in Footloose, just wants to dance.

haitch (haitch), Friday, 13 May 2005 03:23 (twenty years ago)

While we've been weighing in on the suitability of Ms Lohan's body as a role model for our children, we have been neglecting the other stars of the movie who, in my mind, are just as worthy of this kind of discussion. For instance, the woman who plays Larry David's wife on Curb Your Enthusiasm. Eyebrows -- too plucked, I think. I'd still dance with her, though. As long as she tolerated my lectures about grooming.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 13 May 2005 04:29 (twenty years ago)

If I looked all over the world
And there’s every type of girl
But Miss Lohan's eyes
Seem to pass me by
Leave me dancing with Tracer Hand

So let’s sink another drink
’cause it’ll give me time to think
If I had the chance
I’d ask Lindsey L. to dance
And I’ll be dancing with Tracer Hand

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 13 May 2005 05:44 (twenty years ago)

Thank you Tracer! Tracer and Ned are my heros - I would dance with either of them (and I will admit to dancing with LL). I do in fact like her any which way. She is an extraordinarily pretty girl and certainly didn't need to lose weight to be attractive. I suspect that she felt that becoming skinnier would make look older and that she would then be more suitable for older and more distinguished roles. I'm sure she could do Disney and teen movies for many more years but she probably fears being typecast. Either way, don't hate the actress, hate the agent.

TOO freckled?

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 13 May 2005 15:14 (twenty years ago)

Yeah I know, weird, huh? Seeing as how I'm freckled myself... I think it stems back to grade school and this kid named Rusty who was a total cunt to me at all times and one time I saw him blow a snot rocket and it made me hurl. Bleah.

Yes, we know Spencer. She's neither dopey nor unhealthy looking.

urban in nature (deangulberry), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:19 (twenty years ago)

Spencer, ummm, me too. I mean, it wasn't the only movie playing at the theater!

I wish Michelle Rodriguez didn't always have to play the angry marginalized friend.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:19 (twenty years ago)

You know, with cute girl surfers or girl guitarists or girls who drive cars or who are mean, and such?

the D Double signal (nordicskilla), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:20 (twenty years ago)

It's true Dean, there are dopey actresses but Lohan has always seemed pretty bright.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:21 (twenty years ago)

i've seen the preview for this 100000 times

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:21 (twenty years ago)

xpost - "Gidget-flicks"?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:21 (twenty years ago)

Also, why "Fully Loaded"? Is there drink-driving in this movie?

the D Double signal (nordicskilla), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:21 (twenty years ago)

Did anyone else catch the phrase "fully loaded" popping up in presenter speeches during the MTV Movie Awards???

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:23 (twenty years ago)

Josie and the Pussycats has Rachael Leigh Cook, ergo way better than those other movies.

Have you seen crazy/beautiful, Adam?

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:25 (twenty years ago)

It's true Dean, there are dopey actresses but Lohan has always seemed pretty bright.

Yes I have! I think we've discussed it before! Powerful.

the D Double signal (nordicskilla), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:27 (twenty years ago)

I love Dunst.

the D Double signal (nordicskilla), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:28 (twenty years ago)

especially since she (and Jake) started bathing again.

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:28 (twenty years ago)

Dunst...bathing...

the D Double signal (nordicskilla), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:29 (twenty years ago)

I just remembered that I shouldn't chastise Jaymc for seeing "gidget films" with his brother, as I went with my brother to totally see SUGAR & SPICE. *gulp*

the D Double signal (nordicskilla), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:31 (twenty years ago)

and that witchy movie...the one with the moody girl...The Craft?

the D Double signal (nordicskilla), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:31 (twenty years ago)

Also Dean, don't you think she looks, er, "healthy" in the most recent pix? Otherwise, maybe we should say something!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:31 (twenty years ago)

The Craft is so good.

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:32 (twenty years ago)

the D Double signal (nordicskilla), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:33 (twenty years ago)

the D Double signal (nordicskilla), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:33 (twenty years ago)

I don't think I saw it, I thought it might be too goth.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:33 (twenty years ago)

BLUE CRUSH is soooo good!

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:34 (twenty years ago)

The Craft, that is.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:34 (twenty years ago)

Haha! Yes! It must be KYLE'S favorite movie!

the D Double signal (nordicskilla), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:34 (twenty years ago)

I don't think I can go another day without seeing Blue Crush, it's clearly a winner.

the D Double signal (nordicskilla), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:35 (twenty years ago)

Blue Crush is pretty great.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:35 (twenty years ago)

blue crush was not so good!!! kate bosworth is 100% charisma-free!

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:35 (twenty years ago)

Bosworth plays it tough.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:35 (twenty years ago)

her character was so weak and annoying! it was a BETRAYAL!

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:36 (twenty years ago)

No way, Blue Crush ruled. I think The Craft fucking blows though.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:36 (twenty years ago)

Also Dean, don't you think she looks, er, "healthy" in the most recent pix? Otherwise, maybe we should say something!

Next time you're dancing, lean over and let her know that I think she has an unhealthy amount of freckles. She needs to either wear less revealing clothing or she needs to stay inside more. If L-Lo gets skin cancer, then Hilary Duff is going to want skin cancer and pretty soon they'll all be all cancered up.

urban in nature (deangulberry), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:36 (twenty years ago)

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:36 (twenty years ago)

bring it on RULES over all of these movies

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:37 (twenty years ago)

Bosworth had lots of charisma in Win a Date with Todd Hamilton!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:37 (twenty years ago)

If they are still making these movies when I am in my 80s, I predict that I will die of a heart attack in a second-run theater.

the D Double signal (nordicskilla), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:37 (twenty years ago)

i didn't see win a date

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:37 (twenty years ago)

Dean that is a very good point. I certainly would not encourage Lohan to spend much time at the beach or even poolside. I am not in the least concerned about Duff.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:39 (twenty years ago)

s1ocki, it had its moments.

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:39 (twenty years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:44 (twenty years ago)

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 10 June 2005 20:04 (twenty years ago)

Between her and MIA I suspect Spencer is a 24-hour paladin.

These are not the only people I feel like I have to stand up for in the face of a lot of kneejerk negativity (much of it vicious) around here. Also, it's not really defending them as individuals (they don't need me for that - I've seen Lohan's security detail). It feels more like setting things straight and adding "for the record" remarks because I feel like lots of throwaway negative posts undermine the value of ILX as a resource and probably scares off potential interesting/funny/open minded posters. I'll probably throw in the towel when the defending takes up too much of my time. For now though it's fun.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 10 June 2005 20:05 (twenty years ago)

I made Nick go see Drive Me Crazy with me when it first came out, but it turned out it was just a little under the age range I was hoping for (compared to the rest in this genre we're inventing here). When the credits rolled and the theme song started blaring, I looked around and saw that we were surrounded by singing/dancing 8-9 year olds who knew ALL the words... standing beside their moms.

Website Wants to "Feed Lindsay"
Fri Jul 08, 7:55 PM ET

A whole lot of people seem to be on a mission to put a little meat on the increasingly prominent bones of Lindsay Lohan.

An online petition titled "Please Lindsay, Eat!" has gathered over 12,500 signatures from concerned individuals, who are united in their preference for the actress' once curvy figure from the days of Mean Girls as compared to her drastically slimmer bod of today.

"To: Lindsay," the petition reads, "We urge you Lindsay to please, pick up a sandwich and eat it, or ice cream, or any food that might put those oh so cute pounds back on."

Many of the undersigned beseech the actress to get help for a presumed eating disorder or drug addiction. A good amount also want the former redhead to return to her natural color rather than her current bottled blonde.

"You looked so much better as a curvy redhead!" one individual weighed in.

"Hollywood has too many skinny blondes! Go back to your natural hair color and healthy weight! Do you have any idea the message you are sending to young girls who look up to you? Please be a positive role model!" another pleaded.

The petition was started by the creators of FeedLindsay.com, a Website devoted to urging Lohan to down a burger or four. The site hopes to further spread its message by hawking T-shirts bearing slogans such as "Feed Lindsay" and "eat."

"Sign the petition and wear your "Feed Lindsay" gear proudly!" the site proclaims. "Let her know that no one wants a skinny malnourished skeleton, but her old curvaceous self! Together we can Feed Lindsay!"

The site also features a computer-generated photo of Lohan's head affixed to an extremely malnourished body as an example of the path down which the actress could be headed.

For her part, Lohan has repeatedly denied that her weight loss is the result of anything but good old fashioned exercise.

However, FeedLindsay.com isn't the only Website calling attention to the Freaky Friday star's diminished figure.

LiquidGeneration.com has created both an online game called Lindsay Lohan's Extreme Diet Chamber (not for the faint of heart) and a fake blog featuring an "Emaciation Proclamation" purportedly written by Lindsay "Skinny" Lohan.

The "Feed Lindsay" movement can no doubt be traced back to a similar "Save Mary-Kate" call to action. The site, launched last year to sell T-shirts of the Olsen twin's head on a emaciated body (its motto: "Together we can do this. One T-shirt at a time.") and ostensibly to raise money for eating disorder groups, wound up provoking the ire of its tween-queen subject. The National Eating Disorders Association subsequently refused to accept any donations from the site.

Of course, Lohan isn't the only celeb to be targeted by an Internet movement these days.

Katie Holmes is the topic of discussion at FreeKatie.net, a Website determined to "liberate Katie, a young, gifted actress held captive by forces we may never understand. Even one summer of captivity is too long for one so bright! The site sells "Free Katie" gear, as well as shirts and pins bearing slogans such as "Stop Sofa Abuse" and "We're Totally in Love World Tour 2005."

Meanwhile, Holmes' fiance, a retiring fellow by the name of Tom Cruise, has also been the subject of a recent Internet petition. Close to 14,500 people added their signatures to a War of the Worlds/Tom Cruise Boycott addressed to Steven Spielberg.

"Dear Mr. Spielberg," the petition begins.

"We, the undersigned, wish to inform you that we are compelled to boycott your movie War of the Worlds. Our decision is based solely on the abhorrent behavior of Mr. Tom Cruise. We will not be spending our good money to support the ridiculous and potentially dangerous antics of this raving narcissist. Mr. Cruise's actions and comments have been offensive and insulting when not downright laughable."

It's unclear whether the petition, started before the release of War of the Worlds, did anything to put a damper on the film's box office receipts. The film easily topped the box office over the holiday weekend, grossing $77.1 million from Friday to Monday.

seriously, i know this movie is dumb, but i really enjoyed it.

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 10:17 (twenty years ago)

Lindsay Lohan has hired a personal trainer - to put on weight. .

Speculation has been mounting in recent months that the sexy actress could be suffering from an eating disorder after she was repeatedly photographed looking stick-thin.

But although Lohan, 19, has always refuted the claims, she has employed a specialist trainer to help her bulk up.
Exercise coach Justin Gelband has put the 'Herbie: Fully Loaded' star on a special diet to restore her sexy curves and the star has purportedly gone up two dress sizes.

She said: "I'm working out with a trainer and eating healthily I want my boobs back".
