Hmm. If Derek doesn't get to go home, there will be well spoken hell to pay, no doubt.

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 23 June 2005 09:36 (twenty years ago)

He'll be likely to issue many stern reprimands, to be sure!

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 23 June 2005 09:41 (twenty years ago)

Sam offered XXX TV job

Latest evictee Sam has been offered a new "role" on The Adult Channel.

If she takes the job, the student would directly rival BB5's Michelle Bass, who recently became the "face" of TVX: The Fantasy Channel.

"Sam would be the ideal person to present on The Adult Channel," marketing director Richard Gale told The Sun.

"She's got great confidence, clearly loves expressing her sexuality and is a natural in front of the camera."

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 23 June 2005 09:45 (twenty years ago)

^from DS^

Also, the eviction show is twice as long this week prompting speculation that there may be a new arrival.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 23 June 2005 09:46 (twenty years ago)

"She's got great confidence, clearly loves expressing her sexuality and is a natural in front of the camera."

They've only everseen a photo of her then?

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Thursday, 23 June 2005 09:47 (twenty years ago)

A new arrival? If Derek goes, can we have Amanda Platell in there instead? That would increase my average BB viewing time by, ooh, about 100%.

tell me the full story of Max and Science row

On completing the task, the housemates were given "some alcohol". This included at least one bottle of wine and eight bottles of beer. Some horse trading apparently went on, and Science traded away his entitlement to beer for some of the cigarettes Maxwell had brought into the house to use as currency. Maxskia were under the impression that their 'half' of the "some" was the bottle of wine (along with Anthiny and Craig, who I remember telling us the other day didn't drink) and that they now had the beer as well. Science (disingenuously) believed all the "some" was to be shared and he had traded away his beer entitlement only, therefore was entitled to a glass of wine.

He tried to get one, with Maxwell following him round the kitchen and Saskia bellowing through the doors like a fishwife (Anthony and Craig nonplussed), and threats flying ("You don't want to know what'll happen if you take a glass of wine out of there."). Eventually, he managed to pour one and started to drink it, while Maxwell shouted in his face about how he was a thief (pot/kettle, I know). Science stepped back, waving his hand in front of his face, muttering "Your breath smells, man. Plaque attack! Plaque attack! Poo!".

Maxwell was then called into the diary room and told behaviour was getting out of hand and if it continued BB would withdraw alcohol from the house. On the way out, Science greeted him with "Nice wine, this."

I KNOW, I should be STRONG, but those BOOTS, those SUITS, that FASCISM...

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 23 June 2005 09:54 (twenty years ago)

I love it that BB give them alcohol and then reprimand them about bad behaviour. Perhaps they'll end up tying them to wooden benches and making them pick oakum for 25 hours a day.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 23 June 2005 09:55 (twenty years ago)

I mean, were they just supposed to line up the bottles in a row and look at them in a White Cube kind of aesthetic way?

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 23 June 2005 09:56 (twenty years ago)

Craig and Anthony in the diary room was the gayest thing on TV in some time. Apparently some friends of (100% straight, allegedly)Anthony's have suggested he should move to Brighton as he'd "fit right in there". Craig has put it to him they should both move there and open a hairdressers.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 23 June 2005 09:59 (twenty years ago)

Are Craig and Anthony aware of prominent Brighton resident Julie Burchill's attitude towards people with certain sexual preferences who come into her town and push up the property prices out of reach of ordinary working-class salt-of-the-earth people who've worked there all their lives?

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 23 June 2005 10:03 (twenty years ago)

I haven't watched Big Brother since the first one, but I'm finding myself strangely addicted to this one. They're all just sooo stooopid.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Thursday, 23 June 2005 10:09 (twenty years ago)

The price increases are offset by media types from Bristol(?) moving there and loudly proclaiming their chav love on Sky 1.

That and people seeking bogus asylums.

Marcello: your search AMANDA PLATELL JACKBOOTS did not match any documents.

I would be interested to hear such an opinion from JB, a bi-tryer who moved to Hove with her money, who is currently married to the son of one of the South Coast's most prominent millionaires. Wouldn't that be fun?

suzy (suzy), Thursday, 23 June 2005 10:15 (twenty years ago)

One result in the New Statesman. Dull article by Ben Pimlott with no Platell content at all.

yeah he comes up with truly bizarre insults. "i hope you find some extra small pants for your tiny baby dick".

jed_ (jed), Thursday, 23 June 2005 11:52 (twenty years ago)

Craig is just latching onto the people he perceives as strongest. I don't think Lesley was making him feel particularly confident, which is why he came across as an arse when he was hanging around her, but this lot do, hence humour.

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 23 June 2005 11:53 (twenty years ago)

but so was his butting into derek and roberto's "discussion" of politics, to confirm that reagan was american, and their "discussion" of the issue of immigration, to say he thought people shouldn't always leave their home countries because they think it'll be easier somewhere else and they should stay home and make their own country great--proving his point with an example: "lots of people have had it hard in our country's history...like...the suffragettes...but they didn't just leave"

Radio 1 apparently now confirming three new housemates will enter tonight.

Also, somebody needs to explain betting to BBC webmongs:

This will be after the result of the fourth eviction, which bookmakers are convinced will be Roberto.

Odds of 11/10 for his demise are being offered by William Hill, compared to 4/6 for Derek.

ITV teletext claiming the three new HMs are:

An Irish female model

A busty-loudmouth exhibitionist

A young man with few friends

The middle one may well be Gr4ce, who used to work in one of my locals. She was in the rehearsals where she got her kit off far more, and more speedily, than she had thought beforehand; and is both busty and loudmouthed. She told us in the days immediately before the start that she was the first choice female reserve.

They're all single, they're all under 30, and, between them, our new people have met Jennifer Lopez, taken flying lessons, and are scared of spiders and water tanks.

One dislikes "vain, self-obsessed people," whilst another describes themselves as a being a "two-faced bitch," and one says they have "no friends." Oh dear.

Half Kuwaiti, model, exhibitionist, Atheist, engineer, snob - these are all ways the new additions have described themselves.

We could have a beautiful, arrogant, Jennifer Lopez fan who is an engineer and keeps taking their clothes off despite being scared of water tanks. Well, we could...

I guess a dislike for "politics" has its own meaning in Belfast, where Orlaith is from.

suzy (suzy), Friday, 24 June 2005 21:15 (twenty years ago)

I think Kinga (or as she's already been "dubbed" by "wags" Minga) is doomed. The other two are far better than the existing housemates. Orlaith is the "sensible one" the series has been missing and a model to boot and Eugene is just pure entertainment - easily the equivalent of the entire Grand Theft Auto series contained in one pasty frame.

My interest in this series rekindles.

On one hand I've got myself to blame (Lynskey), Friday, 24 June 2005 21:40 (twenty years ago)

Eugene is the white Jon Tickle, yes? I like the idea that they will be The Borrowers for a bit. I'd nick all Max's clothes and burn them.

Taste the Blood of Scrovula (noodle vague), Friday, 24 June 2005 21:42 (twenty years ago)

I think they're great. I also think that sending them out to steal food from people who do nothing but argue about food is great. And I like the fact that once the two of them who are staying have bonded, they will represent a proper voting block, which gives them both a fighting chance.

Tediously, however, Saskia will turn against Orlaith immediately, spend several days trying to pour poison in Maxwell's ear about her, and will end up out on her ear as a result.

This evening's show made me realise how much I hate Science. He is a humourless little git.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Friday, 24 June 2005 21:43 (twenty years ago)

Oh, no. Three more brainless idiots. Kemal and Makosi have gone really twatty recently and this Kinga who seems to worship them already is only going to make them worse.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Saturday, 25 June 2005 09:42 (twenty years ago)

I didn't like Kinga at all on the first screening, but enjoyed her much more this morning. She seems fully aware of her own absurdity.

This is a solid voting block, even with one of them leaving (I'm guessing the one responsible for them being found out won't enter the house). They'll have some time to get to know each other and may well prove resitant to the usual tactic of picking off the new contestant, aided at least in part by the time it will take Maxkia to realise that they can't just go in and say 'Roberto & Derek' automatically. I expect them to realise this once they are actually in the diary room for nominations, and not before.

An interesting piece in Marco's DS column this week. It certainly explains a few inconsistencies in the treatment of those 'discussing' nominations.

During my time in the house we were often called to the diary room a day before nominations and asked who we were considering to nominate the following day. Big Brother will always be fairly certain who will face the axe come Monday afternoon and, one would suggest, consider available options if is not a satisfactory array of housemates. It is therefore not surprising that Roberto, Derek and Craig were forbidden to nominate given that Maxwell and Saskia were the intended victims. Finding an appropriate piece of footage to adequately entrap the three was probably secondary to whom it would rescue. The ultimate casualty in such a nominated pairing would be Endemol themselves, deprived of a love story to monitor and hungry to emulate the success of the previous series.

Anyone who has watched a considerable amount of live feed will have noticed the development of nomination rigging amongst the smug three (Saskia, Maxwell and Anthony) and attempts to initiate others into their group, late into the night. It is yet to be shown or highlighted to the housemates…

When Vanessa mentioned her intended nominee in the second week the entire house was automatically put up for eviction. As I discussed last week, one of the failings of this series is inconsistency and genuine unfairness in the distribution and proportionality of punishments, the only justification being that this is in keeping with the sustained “paranoia” theme this year.

In electing to display a video of nomination rigging to housemates Big Brother has essentially contrived a means of saving Maxwell and Saskia for an additional couple of weeks as the housemates will naturally be drawn to nominating Derek and Roberto. The response to the tape was television gold, especially for those who managed to watch a generous portion of it live. Ironically, in defence of allegations that she is a silent assassin, Saskia’s outburst that the other participants should wait and see who wins, confirmed to the viewers that she probably is.
All the housemates will be booed this year, I'm sure of it.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Saturday, 25 June 2005 10:45 (twenty years ago)

I wonder if Derek will actually leave, as he keeps promising. Of all the housemates, he bothers me the most. Where did he get this idea that he's some kind of master wordsmith? He's hopelessly inarticulate - he pauses and stumbles over every word, and hasn't said anything approaching witty since he got there. He just keeps bashing on about how eloquent he is.

Cathy (Cathy), Saturday, 25 June 2005 11:31 (twenty years ago)

How do Kinga and Eugene know each other? I thought maybe they auditioned together or something - they definitely knew each other.

Wonder what happened?

mark grout (mark grout), Saturday, 25 June 2005 17:53 (twenty years ago)

From DS

Makosi entered the 'Secret Garden' area this afternoon and met Eugene, Kinga and Orlaith.

She entered the until-then secret area after pushing a big red button labelled "don't press this button, press here." After pushing the button, klaxons sounded throughout the BB house and Makosi was called to the diary room. Minutes later, she appeared in the secret garden.

Makosi explained to the threesome that she is now responsible with stealing supplies from the main house for them; they no longer have to "raid" the house. Makosi must now bring them clothes and food without her fellow housemates noticing. This task will last a week, indicating that the threesome will be in the 'Garden' for at least that length of time.

"It's a mad experience," said Makosi of her time in the house so far when the 'Garden'-ers asked what it had been like.

After a quick chat, Big Brother told Makosi to return to the main house and begin her task.

DS are refusing to let Scabgate die, apparently Maxwell was called into the diary room to explain himself over it last night and was, well, let off. Never has the manipulation by Endemol been more apparent. They asked him if he did it, he said no, they gave him some cider. Umm... IT'S A HOUSE WITH CAMERAS EVERYWHERE, YOU KNOW HE DID IT YOU TWATS.

Makosi has played this mission very well though, she isn't bothered about attracting votes from Team Twunt because she thinks she's immune - leaving one of them picked off and three (she thinks) extra votes in her favour next week - and is in fact encouraging them to vote for her so they don't vote for the people she likes. Science is the only possible wild card here, that could still pick up too many votes.

Blatant nominations discussion by Team Twunt - cynical attempt to make sure everyone is up for the vote or cockiness at how far Endemol will bend over for them? YOU DECIDE.

Also, most overt piece of flippant racism yet? Or astute political analysis given her alleged closeness to Mugabe? "She should be on Big Brother Zimbabwe, she might last a bit longer on that one."

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 27 June 2005 07:55 (twenty years ago)

I still haven't managed to watch this recently but Maxkia really seem to be pushing their popularity too far already - they've forgotten just how early on in the game this still is, and how twuntish things like Scabgate can turn the public against them just like that. And really, once either of them go...the rest are pretty weak.

I want to know more about the three new people.

I hated Kinga on Friday, but loved her by the time of the eviction repeat on Saturday morning.

Best first line in BB history, I'm saying.

Watching her crawling about on all fours pretending to be a "hungry animal" was funnier than it sounds.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 27 June 2005 08:21 (twenty years ago)

How Orlaith didn't throttle the most boring man on the planet, I'll never know. Instead she just threw in a few yeahs when he occasionally paused for breath while she carried on pretty much ignoring him.

I think it might be too late to save this show though.

Penelope_111 (Penelope_111), Monday, 27 June 2005 08:25 (twenty years ago)

Given that Science will get nommed up for sure, who else?

Derek will as well, and will survive yet again.

Makosi, being safe, will get mega nominated the week after by Kemal (who'll feel betrayed by all the new housemates she's motherhenned in), Saskia (obv), Maxwell (obv), Anthony (prob) and Vanessa (maybe).

Pro her will be the 2 new housemates, Derek/Science, (have Iforgotten anyone?)

But it won't matter as the General Public won't vote her out now.

Makosi 4/1
Anthony 8/1
Science 8/1
One of the garden three 8/1
Maxwell 10/1
Craig 12/1
Derek 13/1
Saskia 22/1
Vanessa 55/1
Mary 800/1
Roberto, Lesley, Sam 1,000/1

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 27 June 2005 08:42 (twenty years ago)

I do believe I identified Maxwell as a racist very early on because of his reactions to/disrespect for Makosi: his is the sort that doesn't really manifest unless he is forced to compete with someone of a different ethnicity and doesn't quite understand that they're on equal footing whether he likes it or not. And he really fucking hates it judging by all the winknudgery he's got going on.

Craig is the hitchhiker of the group and this week he's riding with Anthony.

Makosi is cracking me up.

suzy (suzy), Monday, 27 June 2005 08:54 (twenty years ago)

Makosi has had two 'feature' tasks, where she gets to dominate the coverage.

Maxwell has had one, but it wasn't the most featurable task, sorting nuts/bolts/maggots etc.

One of the reasons Cameron won was by being 'featured' in the swap with African BB.

The Maxsia show will shortly run out of steam........

Dadaismus (Dada), Monday, 27 June 2005 09:50 (twenty years ago)

No, I really don't think the production company are manipulating anything beyond editing particular narratives into 'stories'. Which is all they ever do.

The problem with Maxwell and his scabs-in-food trick is that it would be very difficult to prove conclusively that he did it when he has denied it in the diary room - and if the footage solidly proved otherwise they would have grounds to evict him. It must not be provable from footage, so what can they do?

suzy (suzy), Monday, 27 June 2005 09:52 (twenty years ago)

Taste the Blood of Scrovula (noodle vague), Monday, 27 June 2005 10:06 (twenty years ago)

Marco has an interesting take on why they asked him and didn't just act on it in his DS column:

Maxwell seemingly committed their very worst atrocity on Thursday night and was shown to boast about the incident on Saturday evening's highlight show. If Maxwell did indeed scatter bits of his scab into Sciences food then this could amount to a criminal offence of poisoning. The general legal definition of poisoning is to cause someone to consume a poison or other noxious substance with the intention of injuring or annoying them, even if no injury results. In the case of Donoghue v Stevenson [1932] AC 562 the courts took a broad view of what a noxious substance could be when they ruled that a snail inserted into ginger beer, with the intention to annoy whomever consumed it, amounted to a criminal offence.

Maxwell could, effectively, become Endemol's principal liability to date as they also owe Science a significant duty of care under the law of tort. If Big Brother elects to punish Maxwell for his apparent poisonous conduct then this would likely be interpreted as an admission of Maxwells guilt, leaving Endemol open to a tortuous claim from Science. This is potentially a highly damaging situation and a scenario not to be underestimated.

From the same column:

On Friday evening the viewing public was indulged with yet another helping of the flirtatious and editorially favourable banter between Anthony and Craig. Neglected to be shown was the footage of Craig shamelessly scraping another housemate's toothbrush against the floor with despicable glee. Friday night is the most influential evening in the Big Brother calendar week. The highlights show tends to focus heavily upon the potential evictees and the footage from the previous night is limited to less than 20 minutes. In neglecting to show the toothbrush incident Big Brother has effectively eliminated its existence as the vast majority of the viewing public will not have had a chance to pass judgment on the event, unaware that it even transpired. One can expect and hope that the baying crowd would not have cheered an individual vindictive enough to infringe upon another persons health and safety in such a vile and repugnant fashion otherwise.

Does anyone knows whose toothbrush?

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 27 June 2005 10:34 (twenty years ago)

Maxwell could, effectively, become Endemol's principal liability to date as they also owe Science a significant duty of care under the law of tort.

Especially as Scientist is 13 years old and thus, legally, still a minor

Dadaismus (Dada), Monday, 27 June 2005 10:39 (twenty years ago)

No-one has seen Maxwell do it, there's no footage. Just a lot of excitable "it's a big Endemol plot" conspiracy theorist nutters. He is an arsehole though. Plenty of footage to back that up.

Kinga: another pig-headed vulgarian gobshite. Oh goodie, just what BB6 is lacking.

dm, Monday, 27 June 2005 11:02 (twenty years ago)

Pig-headed? Pig-faced, pig-breasted, pig-arsed, pig-bodied, pig-brained...

Dadaismus (Dada), Monday, 27 June 2005 11:05 (twenty years ago)

"Does anyone knows whose toothbrush?"

Craig told BB it was his toothbrush, but it was just a random toothbrush that was already on the floor in the kitchen. Ant spotted it, Craig rubbed it against the floor - no doubt to impress Ant - BB hauled him into DR "we take such matters seriously blah blah" "sawee big bwavvah blah blah."

And it was shown - on BBLB, anyway.

dm, Monday, 27 June 2005 11:07 (twenty years ago)

BB is the new Eurovision isn't it? The once-a-year chance for ordinary men and women to turn into bitching drag queens and shout at the telly.

It's getting very watchable now - there's plot all over the place and it's a shame it's being put together to favour certain people. I've been bemoaning people screaming "Favurable editong!" since the start as they always do, but it's being pushed way too far now, especially as Team BorderlineRacism are so very objectionable and have done so many downright stupid and objectionable things. I didn't even know about the toothbrush thing. Rememeber Kamal getting a warning for using the toilet brush? If this was a game of football you'd say that the ref had lost control of the game.

It makes me wonder who the best 2 of the Gardeners would be to enter - I thought Eugene was the best thing since sex on coke when he first appeared - but I think I'd rather see the other two go into such a divided house - Kinga's giddiness would be awesome to behold and Orlaith's potential as the sane one could play well. Eugene, bless him, would probably run a mile.

On one hand I've got myself to blame (Lynskey), Monday, 27 June 2005 11:09 (twenty years ago)

I don't like Kinga but Eugene will be all at sea if he enters the house, completely useless. Christ, he's all at sea in the Secret Garden trying to moderate between Orlaith's and Kinga's sniping.

dm, Monday, 27 June 2005 11:14 (twenty years ago)

Right, my non-technical reckoning has Derek (five noms) up against Saskia and Science (three each). Assuming votes for Makosi (one) are ignored rather than specified as 'immune'.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 27 June 2005 11:39 (twenty years ago)

I see nominations as:

Anthony - Makosi, Derek
Craig - Makosi, Science
Derek - Maxwell, Saskia
Kemal - Maxwell, Saskia
Makosi - Maxwell, Saskia
Maxwell - Makosi, Science
Saskia - Makosi, Derek
Science - Maxwell, Derek
Vanessa - Saskia, Craig

4 for Saskia, 4 for Maxwell, 4 for the immune Makosi. Saskia vs Maxwell for the public vote.

jed_ (jed), Monday, 27 June 2005 12:27 (twenty years ago)

It's inconceivable that Team Twunt won't all vote together though. Maxwell directly told Anthony only an hour ago to "vote tactically" and not for who he felt he should. Since the fight with Makosi was over booze it's clear who he means, and since it was only last night it's probably still in Saskia's goldfish brane.

Saskia's self-destruction was beautiful. "Jordan's an intelligent business woman. You're too thick to be her." So many disguised racial slurs too. Can't wait to watch her eat a big slice of humble pie tomorrow.

thought saskia had got the hang of things the other day when she realised derek was on a mission and helped him accomplish it. after the red button pushing you'd be an idiot to take anything makosi says or does at face value.

where's derek gone? it's like he's not even there. was one shot of him staring quizically at the dripping showers last night and another of him on the other end of a 'conversation' with science but nothing else.

if orlaith is good for nothing else saskia will see her as a threat. oddly, orlaith, saskia and makosi all list 'pretty woman' as their favourite film.

Right, revised noms guess:

Anthony 2
Craig Mak Der
Derek 3 Max Ant
Kemal Sas Sci
Makosi 1 Sask Ant
Maxwell 2
Saskia 3 Van Der
Science 3 Max Sas
Vanessa 2 Der Sci

Making Derek, Saskia and Science in a three way vote.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 07:44 (twenty years ago)

You think Saskia will choose not to nominate Makosi, Mark?

Last night's BB was perhaps my favourite ever.

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 07:48 (twenty years ago)

Saskia's self-destruction was a joy to behold, as was her barely disguised racism.

One that I don't think was shown was after Derek told Anthony to "go back to Newcastle" on Sunday (I think), he trooped back to the others saying "I can't say what I want to say." "I know what you're thinking" said Maxwell "and you're right." Then Athony fingered his anti-racism wristbands for a bit.

Maxwell's "When Maxwell wants a drink of cider, Maxwell has a drink of cider. And when Maxwell wants to punch fuck of out somebody..." statement from last night's highlights could seal his fate if he's up though.

Tonight could be just as entertaining. Saskia decides to apologise to Makosi, while not really apologising, and throws herself at Maxwell.

I like the theory that Saskia has voted for Maxwell in the hope that makes him less popular than her and she might survive being up for eviction, although this would have been a lot stronger had all her Team got to vote.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 07:58 (twenty years ago)

xpost tim, I don't know, but even if she does vote Makosi it won't make any difference to the totals overall.

It's more that Maxwell will not be 'up against' Saskia for the public vote this week, and as it'll be virtually certain that Saskia will go on the 'everyone votes against the girl' rule, he will no longer be the top dog, and will mooch around lost for a week.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 08:11 (twenty years ago)

Out of curiosity, why are Maxkia's crypto-racist streaks coming out against Makosi and not Science? Assuming they haven't. Derek too for that matter.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 08:28 (twenty years ago)

I haven't particularly seen them against Science, but Derek has had a few. Malteserhead is one, and the hidden 'go back to Africa' I mentioned above.

Possibly, however, Makosi's accent makes her the most obvious immigrant. (See Saskia's audition tape) She's the only first generation African (cf the argument with Science about who was more African, he insisted it was him, because of his ancestors).

On Sunday, Saskia referred to Vanetha as a 'flid'. How acceptable do the panel think this was?

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 08:33 (twenty years ago)

Not acceptable but common in so many ways, like the speaker.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 08:37 (twenty years ago)

About what I'd expect from her, tho it's quite possible she's too stupid to know where it comes from.

Taste the Blood of Scrovula (noodle vague), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 08:39 (twenty years ago)

'flid' was all over my playground back in the day. that's where it stayed though.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 09:02 (twenty years ago)

no worse than 'spaz' i guess, which tends to re-appear now and then, along with the face gesture. there's no defending it i suppose (as there's no real defence of using 'gay' in the way people do).

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 09:05 (twenty years ago)

I think I only caught the last three words of each sentence in Saskia's rant last night. It was quite beautiful.

I wonder if Orlaith might be able to win this thing, just by being nice. If she can survive the early keep-x-for-entertainment-value voting and get through to the x-deserves-to-win voting which always comes towards the end of the series, and keeps on being unthreatening and pretty, I think she could be in there.

Mädchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 09:05 (twenty years ago)

I loved Saskia continuing to insist it had nothing to do with cider. "It's about respect."

Yeah, because changing shopping lists, tampering with food, and toothbrushing the floor are dead respectful.

i actually had to turn the program off before saskia's rant finished. after seeing the topless photo of her, i think an appropriate punishment would be to hide her bras so she'd have to go about the house with those things swinging around her knees.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 09:32 (twenty years ago)

xpost, to be fair, Saskia didn't do any of those things...

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 09:33 (twenty years ago)

She totally condoned them when they were done, though. That's not the reason people will vote her out, though, it will be the bigotry and the graspiness. I hear that she has finally put out a bit for Max as well, which at this stage looks calculated.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 09:37 (twenty years ago)

That's the point I was making, that she didn't attack those people for their lack of "respect".

short for 'thalidomide' I believe.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 09:52 (twenty years ago)

Saskia's the type of sad bigot who thinks that she personally has some right of refusal over which immigrants etc. she deigns to have in her presence (for which read 'her country') and those she does come into contact with better never disagree with her or in some way compete with her, or she will find a way to call them disrespectful. It's like the basis of her beef with Derek which goes something like 'how dare he act so posh'. Both boil down to a feeling that the other person does not 'know their place'.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 09:54 (twenty years ago)

(x-post) playground insults are entirely appropriate, though, given that they behave like a bunch of kids. it's like a celebration of wilful ignorance and stupidity, that fucking house. makosi, kemal and derek show vague flickers of intelligence at times, but that's all. the rest of them ... jesus, it makes me weep.

eugene to win, then. he might be a wanker but at least he shows some signs of basic intelligence.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 09:57 (twenty years ago)

Technically Eugene is not a wanker - at least he claims not to be in the literal sense.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 10:00 (twenty years ago)

what, he lets it go off in the night?

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 10:03 (twenty years ago)

How are Science and Kemal getting on lately?

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 10:03 (twenty years ago)

Eugene: (holds two cans onto his head) "bzz bzz I am an alien.."
Orla: "oh..my..god.."

Now, reading that, and how it actually happened was different..

Eu was more sad and resigned to doing that.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 10:06 (twenty years ago)

but didn't Eugene say in his audition something like - "I'm slightly outrageous...........I don't go around claiming I'm outrageous"

this alone makes me hate him.

Ste (Fuzzy), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 10:10 (twenty years ago)

He said something similar in the Secret Garden, about how wacky he was and how he was always embarrassing his friends with his outrageous behaviour.

Beforehand, however, he did probably the worst Marcus Bentley impression in the history of the world so he's worth keeping in for the moment in case he does it again.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 10:16 (twenty years ago)

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 10:18 (twenty years ago)

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 10:23 (twenty years ago)

Eugene = Colin Hunt.

A worrying number of people online seem to think that Eugene is somehow okay, or intelligent. Is it because he's a techie? Let's face it, the man clearly owns a Star Trek uniform. I wish him only bad things. How anyone can think he's preferable to Makosi or Kemal is beyond me...

Flyboy (Flyboy), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 10:26 (twenty years ago)

he's "intelligent" insofar as he's actually read a book and doesn't glorify in his own stupidity/soi-disant laddishness or "real"-ness. this makes him vastly preferable to twunts like craig, maxkia, vanessa, science et al. oh, and he isn't a vile duplicitous self-serving tory shit. this puts him firmly in the "acceptable" category along with kemal, makosi and ... er ... christ, is that it?

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 10:30 (twenty years ago)

i guess what i'm saying is: intelligence is relative in BB6 :)

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 10:30 (twenty years ago)

my friend just told me about makosi's "be quiet, britney" comment to craig as he was about to add something to saskia's ravings. good girl, makosi.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 10:33 (twenty years ago)

Oh I missed that, how awesome.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 10:36 (twenty years ago)

he was just standing there with his mouth half-open when i was watching, but i guess after saskia stormed off he decided to try to add his two cents and makosi briskly put him down.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 10:40 (twenty years ago)

Well done Makosi.

This BB has provided me with excellent shorthand to express why I hate Mike Skinner so much these days, and that is because Mike Skinner = Maxwell. Twats!

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 10:46 (twenty years ago)

he was just standing there with his mouth half-open when i was watching, but i guess after saskia stormed off he decided to try to add his two cents and makosi briskly put him down.

it was beautiful. he hadn't even formed a single word before makosi said something like: "and i don't want to hear a word from you, team britney." he just stood there gawping like a tool. best put-down ever.

derek swishing through the middle of the maxkia/makosi stand-off like he didn't give a fuck was also impressive, i must admit.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 10:47 (twenty years ago)

Quite a lot of it had been cut out. He had been shouting at Science, and told Makosi that she should move to Big Brother Zimbabwe because she'd fit in much better on that. He was then marginalised from the shouting for a bit and was about to come back in when he was hit by "...and I don't want to hear from you, Team Britney."

No, he glorifies in his "I'm mad me!" wacky japester routine. "I don't even drink! Crazy!" He wears an 'As Seen In Porn' t-shirt, despite never having had sex and - I think - not believing in sex before marriage. It's a different form of idiocy to the existing housemates, but not necessarily a preferable one.

Flyboy (Flyboy), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 10:51 (twenty years ago)

Oh and Mike Skinner is not Maxwell, or vice versa. You do the Streets man a disservice.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 10:52 (twenty years ago)

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 10:54 (twenty years ago)

you could be right. at the moment, anything - even eugene - is preferable to maxkia. but i imagine he'll start to grate quite quickly.

but at least he's read a book. even if it was written in klingon.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 11:03 (twenty years ago)

That's not his t-shirt though, is it? They're still in borrowed clothes. Anthony's?

Maxwell has gone from being the bookies favourite to being 6th favourite (out of eleven) in less than a week.

Eugene is like that office japester off of The Fast Show.

jed_ (jed), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 11:10 (twenty years ago)

Saskia and Maxwell have gone full on for the "keep the romance going" motivation for voting, by going sufficiently far to want people kept out of the bedroom so they can have "privacy". Desperate times call for desperate measures, indeed.

I think this is "goodbye" sex...

You'd think it would be easy enough to wait the week for the other one to be evicted.

Mind you, have we overstated Saskia's conniving? Someone ignorant enough to think WWII started in 1966 may not be able to plan that far ahead.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 14:16 (twenty years ago)

Well, they weren't going to wait for Davina's "You are live to the nation, please do not shag!"

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 14:49 (twenty years ago)

Noms will be announced in 15 mins, on BBLB, obv.

From DS:
Saskia and Maxwell are almost certain that they will be going head-to-head with each other in this week's public vote.

"Ain't it horrible that we're gonna be up against one other?" she asked last night, resolved to their fate.

Craig attempted to reassure her that they would not both be up, while Anthony professed that it would be "a fucking mortal shame."

"The public will be gutted," he added, a sentiment that Saskia repeated in agreement.

"Saskia, just hope you're against me and then you'll be alright," Craig told her, to which he was advised not to be "a noddy."

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 15:19 (twenty years ago)

Mädchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 18:14 (twenty years ago)

I see nominations as:
Anthony - Makosi, Derek
Craig - Makosi, Science
Derek - Maxwell, Saskia
Kemal - Maxwell, Saskia
Makosi - Maxwell, Saskia
Maxwell - Makosi, Science
Saskia - Makosi, Derek
Science - Maxwell, Derek
Vanessa - Saskia, Craig

4 for Saskia, 4 for Maxwell, 4 for the immune Makosi. Saskia vs Maxwell for the public vote.

Wishful thinking on a grand scale
-- Dadaismus (dada...), June 27th, 2005. (later)

Max was the most unpopular housemate with five nominations this week.

In all, the Max-Saskia pairing was singled out four times in the voting booth: both were chosen by Derek, Kemal, Makosi and Vanessa. Science opted for Maxwell but also threw a vote Craig's way.

Anthony and Max were banned from nominating after an earlier discussion about tactical voting.

Craig and Saskia both voted for Makosi and Science.

I'm more frightened than gloating. 3 wrong out of a potential 14. Why didn't I put money on this?

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 18:32 (twenty years ago)

It was interesting how Saskia's nominations were edited - in Diary Room Uncut she announced she had voted for Science because "he's an arselicker, and I don't like arselickers."

Well, obviously.

Max and Saskia's sudden burst of undercover fumblings - shurely they are, at least from her way of thinking, designed with an eye on future, post-BB trash-mag photo-shoots more than anything else.

She can't not be aware of how BB5's Michelle went from being a relatively early evictee, to being a regular in OK Caribbean holiday shoots and now a (no-viewer, admittedly) TV presenter gig.

There is perhaps just one flaw - Michelle was never as loathed as Sas is, and Stu was of course the poster boy of BB5 whereas Max is Friday night little Englander boy made fleisch.

darren (darren), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 21:58 (twenty years ago)

Saskia said, in the garden discussion immediately following nominations, "That's us fucked now. We'll be out this week, and the next, and these are the worst weeks to go because nobody remembers you. Well I'll just have to make sure I do something to be remembered by."

First in-house shag? A distinct possibility.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 05:48 (twenty years ago)

There was the "teenage" BB, as well as Michelle/Stu (although not confirmed by the participants)

Unless Saskia goes into the diary room afterwards and "Yep, we definitely dun it"

I meant first, as in first that wins the 'prize' the papers have on offer.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 07:38 (twenty years ago)

I think the papers have quietly dropped that, haven't they? I think somebody would have to do it in the garden at noon to win it now.

Taste the Blood of Scrovula (noodle vague), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 07:45 (twenty years ago)

No, The Sun and one of the big stroke mags (Playboy?) still have a bounty on it (£10K, I think). Anyway, even "in the garden at noon" is possible now, I think.

Maxwell: "If people boo, they'll boo because they don't want us to go."

Deluded doesn't enter into it, does it.

He's also threatening to sabotage the shopping list if he gets near it.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 07:47 (twenty years ago)

Sometimes I feel Craig is even worse than Maxwell or Saskia, he's truly a desperate residue of a personality.

Eugene seems so boring, god love him, it's not his fault I suppose, thought Maxwell's constant "you're 'avin me on Eugene!" mocking was kind of playground and ugly.

Flyboy (Flyboy), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 09:03 (twenty years ago)

In an impassioned speech, Maxwell has blown any pretence of a united front in the House out of the water. He doesn't like certain people, and they know it.

When Derek went to the Diary Room, Maxwell made a heated speech to the rest of the assembled Housemates. He won't waste his time talking to people he doesn't like when he could only have a few days left in the House with Saskia.

"Can I quickly say something?" he asked. "I don't want to sit in a room where there's f****** aggravation," he explained as the majority of Housemates sat in the living room.

"Some people will say things just to get a rise out of someone," said Maxwell, seeming to warn the two new Housemates, but giving a loaded message to the others at the same time.

I don't want to seem rude," he said. "But there are some people I just can't f****** stand."

The major focus for Maxwell's vitriol was the absent Derek. "I can't stand the f****** sight of the man," Maxwell said, starting to get really cross. "He ain't gonna be best man at my wedding."

Maxwell then stomped out leaving the Housemates gobsmacked.

"And on that bombshell..." Eugene said quietly.

surely The Sun has shouted 'keep Britain British', along with the Daily Mail, louder than anybody bar the extreme right-wing political groups. But then these tabloids do have a reasonably multi-cultural readership.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 09:56 (twenty years ago)

They're obviously trying to ensure that Saskia gets the biggest boos of all time and that people are seething with hatred for by the time she comes out - good television innit? A physical attack would be even better.

Dadaismus (Dada), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 09:57 (twenty years ago)

The Sun is prob'ly all too aware of the connections that will be formed between Maxkia's attitudes and its own editorial line. So it wants to demonise Saskia, to draw a distinction so that when it runs its next BURN FILTHY IMMIGRANT SCUM NOW headline it can continue to play the "We're not racist, but..." angle. It's embarrassed by seeing its own face on television.

Taste the Blood of Scrovula (noodle vague), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 10:03 (twenty years ago)

i think it's a guilt thing with the sun: i think the younger, newer executives are seeking to atone for their predecessors' sins.

[cynical] and, like all newspapers, they need readers. even if there's still "institutional racism", for want of a better phrase, the execs are canny enough to realise that they have to sell their newspaper to everyone, not just pasty-white oafs with tattoos. [/cynical]

whatever the reasoning: if the upshot is a less nasty and small-minded paper, we should surely be glad.

when in recent times has anyone seen the sun actually be what could be construed as racist? probably best to actually read the paper every now and again, really, before saying this. garry bushell doesn't work there any more.

for the record, i think you were all right about maxwell and saskia now - they are total scum.

Flyboy (Flyboy), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 12:38 (twenty years ago)

when in recent times has anyone seen the sun actually be what could be construed as racist?

a quick sample of headlines from the last month or so, taken from the dialog newsroom archive service:

Off our beds: Migrant madness 1 - Exclusive
Car killer migrant blasted
Migrants fingered for visas;Exclusive
Asylum seeker's 'no victim' rape
The cheat of it: Pakistani governor got Pounds 10,000 in UK benefits while living in mansion

i could go on, but i won't. as a headline-writer myself, i'm also skilled at using subtle lexical techniques to push the required editorial line. constantly repeating "migrant" and "asylum seeker" and so on when these are arguably details that aren't essential to the headline ("indigenous brit's 'no victim' rape"? i think not; they'd find some non-racial epithet) is hardly the sign of a forward-thinking, progressive newspaper.

still: my point was, er, that the sun is improving, and that we should be thankful for it.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 12:39 (twenty years ago)

saskia, to her credit, did look utterly mortified when the truth came out about Cidergate. the cynical part of me is thinking that this was realisation that she'd blown it with her actions and wanted to take them back so she didn't look so bad. the benevolant version of me thinks part of her is human after all, even if her head is too small.

eugene is a bibble.

koogs (koogs), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 12:41 (twenty years ago)

If Maxwell and Anthony had both been allowed to vote, and had voted Makosi and Science (as seems likely), there would have been a four-way vote on now. Maxwell (5), Saskia(4), Makosi(4) and Science(4).

Which would have been more interesting from an 'in the house' point of view. i.e. Maxsia getting more 'us/them' smugness 'oh the public love lovers' then.. Max or Sask get the shock of a lifetime on Friday...

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 12:43 (twenty years ago)

Dadaismus (Dada), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 12:46 (twenty years ago)

re: nominations - there was also the option of Makosi failing her task and being put up for public vote. but i think that's academic as i'm guessing she'd only get a fraction of any public vote against M/S (she may actually win it)

koogs (koogs), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 13:19 (twenty years ago)

Everything would be so different if anyone other than Makosi had pressed the button, I'm thinking.

Imagine if Craig had pushed it.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 13:22 (twenty years ago)

He'd have failed the task immediately.

Notice how Saskia hasn't been bothered about the new housemates (Orla's been more bothered about Sask than the other way around), Craig being the only one anti...

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 13:35 (twenty years ago)

Craig has totally undone all the good work he had been doing prior to the weekend (granted this amounts to calling BB a 'dirty bitch' and that's it but oh well).

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 13:37 (twenty years ago)

I keep thinking about this! I can't imagine many of the others passing the task though - Derek and Maxwell, probably. Then again Makosi really was the one you'd imagine would press it - cf running to diary room on first night.

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 13:46 (twenty years ago)

Haha wasn't Maxwell the one who was given a task where he couldn't swear that he failed after two sentences?

Time Out
Day 34, 15:40

Derek has been spending some quality time with Eugene this afternoon. But is he starting to regret his new alliance as Eugene releases his inner nerd?

Eugene has breathlessly covered punctuality, long train journeys, interviews and Radio 4 as Derek, hardly able to get a word in, has listened patiently.

"Yes... yeah... mmm," muttered Derek as Eugene left little room for him to contribute.

"I've probably got the most accurate watch out of anybody. Well, 30 seconds a month isn't that good. But I reset it really regularly. I'm obsessed by time, so I should be more punctual..." said Eugene in a typically colourless monologue.

He went into painful detail of interviews he's been late for, the trains he rode to get there and his public transport difficulties.

Derek was quietly sympathetic but he may be yearning to leave the House again soon. Or worse...

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 14:39 (twenty years ago)

Oh, and line of the night (last night)

Max: "I watch football and eat Pizza basically, its very sad"
Orla "No it's not"
Max: "No, it's fantastic actually"

(or thereabouts)

Derek on Eugene and Orla: "When they first came in, I thought you'd sent in some caterers. As a homosexual, the first time I saw boobs I thought it was a deformity"

Britain's Jauntiest Shepherd (Alan), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 21:04 (twenty years ago)

M and S clearly have serious delusions that their forthcoming exits - well, whoever goes on Friday - is going to release an epic wave of public empathy, with a crowd gathered outside the BB house wailing and gnashing their collective teeth in dismay. Ho ho ho.

I just hope Davina doesn't give her (him ?) the traditionally easy ride, ie: going full on for the 'did they do it ?' angle as a centre piece.

darren (darren), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 21:04 (twenty years ago)

Science sitting there calmly and making up random insult lines about Maxwell while glaring at him was BRILLIANT.

Makosi's perfectly timed and perfectly delivered "damn" after the nominations were announced was BRILLIANT.

Derek reminding everyone how vile Maxwell is even without Swastika Saskia was BRILLIANT.

Derek and Science together were BEYOND BRILLIANT.

Craig makes my skin crawl. Horrible, vile little thing.

Derek, Makosi and Science for the final three please.

My money's on Maxwell getting it big-time one weekend late summer or so in some godawful West End niterie.

darren (darren), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 21:09 (twenty years ago)

YEAH things are just starting to get really really interesting - it's funny how there's been this big bust-up abt race + class on ILE today just as all that good stuff is rising to the surface of BB too - ELECTRIFYING exchange tonight between Derek, Makosi, Vanessa and Kemal, where Derek totally hit the nail on the head abt Maxwell's barely hidden racism

as a boring old liberal i do worry abt the way that BB stirs hate mob feeling in so quickly and easily - for a second there I was all like YES YES let us burn Craig at the stake and feed his entrails to the ravens

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 21:14 (twenty years ago)

an all-black final three would be wonderful for some reason. this in itself is racist, of course, but i really do think it would be a good thing.

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 21:15 (twenty years ago)

I was amazed by Vanessa NEVER HAVING HAVE HEARD OF THE MUPPETS.

The more I think of it, does anyone else think that Maxwell and Vanessa - and maybe even Eugene - were late replacements for contestants that dropped out?

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 21:18 (twenty years ago)

(x-post)
No, what's interesting is that the GBP will essentially be voting out bigoted people for holding bigoted views who treated the 'others' that they were living with in what could be seen as an institutionally racist way.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 21:20 (twenty years ago)

I get the feeling they were hoping that Vanessa would act as a calming influence on the house, like Dan did last year. Instead she has turned out to be the one really boring person in there. Eugene OTOH is obv a failed attempt at a Tickle.

I still think Kemal and Makosi are shoe-ins for the last three, unless one of them seriously flips.

RickyT (RickyT), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 21:22 (twenty years ago)

I don't think the public will vote them out on that basis - they have been offered a choice between Maxwell and Saskia, so saying that they will choose based on their racism seems odd, since they are both thoroughly nasty racists.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 21:25 (twenty years ago)

Maxwell might well win overall - the combined efforts of the Team Saskia vote once in the final four will help him, plus a split in the public's support for Team Makosi when voting at that stage. Don't rule him out just yet.

AdrianB (AdrianB), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 21:27 (twenty years ago)

Anouska pretty?

Science is fab. His relationships with Derek and Eugene are funny.

Am I the only one feeling a scintilla of sympathy for Saskia? Though she further didn't help her cause by sitting in the LR like the Queen of Sheba, having her arm massaged by that gimp Craig, and saying "I don't do naffink rahnd the 'ouse. I get away wiv murdah"

I really wish Vanessa to go soon. I can't stand to see any more footage of her sat back in a polo smiling vacantly into space like a lobotomy patient.

dm, Wednesday, 29 June 2005 21:29 (twenty years ago)

Martin: One of them goes this week whatever. Right now the housemates think this will be Saskia, who can't stop feeling sorry for herself. Which is why Derek deconstructed him in what was a really classy, cautious way: to start the ball rolling for Max going next week.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 21:32 (twenty years ago)

obviously Vanessa is still dull and rather dim, bt unlike team twat she does seem genuinely nice - maybe it's positivity by association though

*possible spoiler alert*

Funniest thing EVER may not be shown tonight, but last night Max and Swastika were snogging in bedroom while others were trying to kip. They are at it next to Kemal, who wonders, 'is this ordeal ever going to end so we can get some bloody sleep? I'm sure you've secured your magazine deal.' Max goes apeshit. Calls him a prick, chucks water over him. Covered in water, Kemal just says 'at least somebody got wet tonight...and it wasn't Saskia.' Ouch!

Everyone's up and swearing. Max pulls the duvet off Kemal's bed and things look about to turn physical. Antony and Swastika somehow calm him down and take him walkies. 'It's nobody's business what we get up to,' Saskia tells Kemal, who replied that it was when you're trying to sleep in the next bed. She wasn't having it: 'what, over a kiss? Get a life, shut your fucking mouth and butt out.' After a short pause, and mostly to herself, she added 'magazine deal? Yeah, probably.'

What a pair of dumb twats.

suzy (suzy), Thursday, 30 June 2005 07:35 (twenty years ago)

I just read that on the website!

"At least somebody got wet tonight...and it wasn't Saskia" - FANTASTIC

The Lex (The Lex), Thursday, 30 June 2005 07:46 (twenty years ago)

Makosi, Derek, Kemal and Science are utterly pwning Team Twunt thee days, and they get away with not looking cocky or smug because they're actually genuinely witty.

The Lex (The Lex), Thursday, 30 June 2005 07:47 (twenty years ago)

Their undercover fumblings are cheap and nasty. The sight of Max's hairy arse peeping out from under the duvet and Saskia spreading her legs, has almost put me off sex for life.

Penelope_111 (Penelope_111), Thursday, 30 June 2005 07:48 (twenty years ago)

Don't forget the bangle-jangle. Pure class, that girl.

I know, Alex. It's brilliant. They've also started to come and sit on the sofas and chat to mostly Orlaith and Eugene but occasionally *everyone but M&S* and it really tweaks Swastika.

suzy (suzy), Thursday, 30 June 2005 07:52 (twenty years ago)

Also classic last night: Kemal merrily directing Anthony and Orlaith as Romeo and Juliet. "Blowjobblowjobblowjob!"

And he's playing Mercutio!

Flyboy (Flyboy), Thursday, 30 June 2005 07:57 (twenty years ago)

I thoroughly enjoyed Maxkia pleading for a third HM to join them in eviction nominations. The desperation in their voices was hysterical, and I was waiting for one of them to say "it's not fair".

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 30 June 2005 08:41 (twenty years ago)

maxwell just about did, didn't he? that was the moment i swore loudly and walked out of the room; when he said: "the others deserved to be evicted, but this is maxwell and saskia."

watching BB while drunk is really not advisable. it turns you into a foaming froth of anger.

Don't forget the bangle-jangle

ah, is that what it was? i thought it was maxwell's arse.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 30 June 2005 08:56 (twenty years ago)

Have any other housemates gone into the diary room to whine about being up for eviction like that?

RickyT (RickyT), Thursday, 30 June 2005 08:59 (twenty years ago)

maxwell just about did, didn't he? that was the moment i swore loudly and walked out of the room; when he said: "the others deserved to be evicted, but this is maxwell and saskia."

They clearly know that The Editors will want to be able to give airtime to a developing relationship, and are trying to use that as leverage. Have any previous tried to manipulate what gets shown as blatantly as the Racist Bigot Couple seem to be doing?

Have any other housemates gone into the diary room to whine about being up for eviction like that?

People have said "it's not fair that I'm up for eviction" or similar, but that's usually in response to the usual "how do you feel about being nominated?" question. I don't think there's been a case when both/all the nominees have gone to BB specifically to ask for more people to be put to the vote.

Tech Support Droid (ForestPines), Thursday, 30 June 2005 09:06 (twenty years ago)

Kemal pwns in all the ways Ken C wants to!

Negativa, True Believer (Sheryl Crow in a Britney costume) (Barima), Thursday, 30 June 2005 09:08 (twenty years ago)

All that was missing from their diary room whinge was a hanging "...but you promised we'd win."

Not that I'm insinuating any manipulation of the competition, obviously.

I also loved Swastika saying "It's him I'm bothered about being up against, I wouldn't worry if it was any of you lot."

It's remarkable how much the highlights show has changed horses over the past couple of days.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 30 June 2005 09:12 (twenty years ago)

Never before have a pair of potential evictees pushed themselves so far into a corner in terms of alienating others in the house. I really liked Orlaith calling out everyone about the tension between the two groups, because it gave an in to everyone who isn't M&S to integrate better. The couple are now pouting as a result.

Kemal would have been just as funny if he'd said something about Max being into water sports.

suzy (suzy), Thursday, 30 June 2005 09:16 (twenty years ago)

they've really put them through the mill haven't they, do people actually think they'll get booed? I am really hoping so, they've gotten so arrogant I think they believe that feelings in the house in no way reflect feelings on the outside.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 30 June 2005 09:17 (twenty years ago)

I have to admit being very disappointed with Orlaith yesterday.

Specifically, the "she can't call herself a model, she only does promo stuff, I do modelling shoots" type one-upmanship. I've had all that from 'Actors', "Dancers" and so on. It's a major downer.

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 30 June 2005 09:24 (twenty years ago)

They've said (and I quoted Maxwell upthread) that they believe any booing will be aimed at the people behind the programme for putting them up, and not them. Anthony repeated this on the live feed last night - but then he thought, when he was booed for dancing on the way in, that the crowd were booing the security guards for moving him on.

I almost forgot, one of the best comedy moments last night was when everyone was feeling Orlaith's implants and Swastika went over, prodded them briefly, and said "They're really hard though, those, aren't they. Not very real at all." before encouraging Maxwell to go over and do the same. He obliged, but obviously enjoyed it enough to sneak in a nipple tweak at the end.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 30 June 2005 09:25 (twenty years ago)

Well, if Saskia is going to say she's a model on national television - other HMs have asked her questions about it and the responses have always been sketchy - Orlaith, who really does model, might well ask for clarification. I don't think O should have said all she did.

suzy (suzy), Thursday, 30 June 2005 09:40 (twenty years ago)

Anthony told M&S last night: "when Davina says your names on Friday night there's going to be a HUUUUUUUUUGE... cheer"
For a second I actually thought he was going to say boo, but no, he said cheer. Cringe.

Then they started a game where they whip each other's bare arses with flip flops. All excapt Craig who didn't want to be whipped - Maxwell standing over him, bullying him to join in: "c'mon, are you a man or a mincer?"
Craig: "I'm not a mincer!"

dm, Thursday, 30 June 2005 10:24 (twenty years ago)

> Then they started a game where they whip each other's bare arses with flip flops.

oh, someone else who was awake about 2:30... meanwhile, in the other room, eugene was regaling everyone with long rambling story about having to read a list out in public once, a list about what should be in a first aid box ('and that's when i learnt that a first aid box shouldn't contain scissors...') which ended with him deciding to read the list out *as himself* rather than just reading the list out. or something. he is that boring priest from father ted.

koogs (koogs), Thursday, 30 June 2005 11:10 (twenty years ago)

*Watched* BB6 for the first time last night. Everything on this thread is true. My God.
Despite Orlaith's modelling comments, which were hugely stupid, I think she stands a real chance of being this year's Anna (i.e. coming second for being nice - she seemed to me like she was really trying to calm the tension and just be personable - which might, unfortunately mean a twunt like Maxwell winning, although hopefully Makosi will).
I had no idea Derek sounded that posh.

Bill (bill), Thursday, 30 June 2005 12:01 (twenty years ago)

so we can get some bloody sleep? I'm sure you've secured your magazine deal.

this is the second best thing anyone has ever said on BB. a close second to Anouska saying, quite sincerely, "I used to be addicted to passive smoking".

jed_ (jed), Thursday, 30 June 2005 12:12 (twenty years ago)

As I say...

If Max and Ant had nommed, the vote would have included Science and Makosi.

It would have been so nice to have had Maxwell and Saskia 3 days smug in the "You are going and we're not" until Friday's "bombshell"

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 30 June 2005 12:30 (twenty years ago)

It may be totally wrong, but the growing body of evidence that Makosi may actually be some sort of sociopath just makes me love her even more.

The whole "Cidergate" incident proves this (to me at least, who may be reading far more into it than was actually there) This was a horribly manipulative scheme that succeeded beyond anyone's wildest dreams. Not only does she make Swastika and her boyf look like the twunts they are on national television and gets the secret gardeners on her side, she also provides tip-top entertainment for the producers (who must have all been going "WTF!" when she hatched that particular scheme) and gets to make Swastika feel like a total fool after the fact. The word "genius" comes to mind...

Stone Monkey (Stone Monkey), Thursday, 30 June 2005 13:28 (twenty years ago)

science calling derek a "bad-mind man" was one of and them both getting the giggles was the best thing in this series. i think they secretly like each other. i'd really really hate maxwell and saskia now beyond all reason. gave them the benefit of the doubt, they really didn't deserve it.

Tech Support Droid (ForestPines), Thursday, 30 June 2005 14:51 (twenty years ago)

Science's goading of Kemal very early on ("you're confused, you don't know what you are") still sticks in my head though - this struck me as just as bigoted if not more than anything Maxkia have alluded to if not said outright, but that was then and this is now and it may be shrugged off as childish name-calling rather than actual maliciousness - Kemal seems to have shrugged it off at least.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Thursday, 30 June 2005 15:14 (twenty years ago)

Perfect moment: Makosi making that 'off-hand' remark about touching Orlaigh's implants, knowing that it would prompt everyone to feel. Including Max.

Abby (abby mcdonald), Thursday, 30 June 2005 18:28 (twenty years ago)

Anthony is the new Paul Danan.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 30 June 2005 20:34 (twenty years ago)

bbye maxwell

c/n (Cozen), Thursday, 30 June 2005 20:45 (twenty years ago)

a kiss

c/n (Cozen), Thursday, 30 June 2005 20:45 (twenty years ago)

Kemal has just overtaken Makosi on the exchanges.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 30 June 2005 20:46 (twenty years ago)

my kingdom for a kiss

c/n (Cozen), Thursday, 30 June 2005 20:51 (twenty years ago)

"Anyone in here could make me a cup of tea and I would still boot them out," Maxwell said, obviously immune to the temptations of the teabag.

But Craig was adamant. "I am the bitch, I am the skivvy, I am the submissive, I am the slave," he almost shouted.

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 30 June 2005 22:26 (twenty years ago)

Of course Eugene (I see myself as a guide dog) is the one with the really intense masochist urges. He seems quite thrillingly prepared to debase himself and almost has enough self knowledge to play the slave.

Guy Beckett (guy), Friday, 1 July 2005 08:10 (twenty years ago)

Dream nomination for next week: Craig vs Eugence. Seeing Chubby Rock go whilst up against Tickle v0.9 will be a beautiful thing.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 1 July 2005 08:15 (twenty years ago)

Craig versus Anthony would get my vote. I could watch the gang facing nomination trauma for ever.

Guy Beckett (guy), Friday, 1 July 2005 08:23 (twenty years ago)

Last night I found out that people working on the show itself are pretty much driven MENTAL by ALL the housemates. And yes, Swastika's views combined with her ambitions were spotted early by a producer, who decided the best thing for it was to have her stitched up on national television for the venal bigot she is. Apparently Kemal is the biggest wannabe in there (they would like him more if he was a bit less uh aspirational) and most of his 'showreel' is hitting the cutting-room floor.

suzy (suzy), Friday, 1 July 2005 08:30 (twenty years ago)

I'm warming a bit to Derek. How the hell did that happen?

Penelope_111 (Penelope_111), Friday, 1 July 2005 08:39 (twenty years ago)

Derek is warming to his role. He is less "all these people are horrendous" and more "a small number of these people are horrendous"...

Which basically happens when a torybod actually gets to mix with the general public on a more than superficial level...

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 1 July 2005 08:42 (twenty years ago)

Hasn't Derek's pulled off an amazing re-brand, particularly inside the house... It's hard to believe now that he was nominated repeatedly.

Guy Beckett (guy), Friday, 1 July 2005 08:43 (twenty years ago)

Science paying careful attention to Derek during his pep talk was kind of touching.

Penelope_111 (Penelope_111), Friday, 1 July 2005 08:44 (twenty years ago)

it's Portillo all over again.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Friday, 1 July 2005 08:47 (twenty years ago)

He is less "all these people are horrendous" and more "a small number of these people are horrendous"

well, he's wrong there, isn't he?

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Friday, 1 July 2005 08:53 (twenty years ago)

IT IS! Perhaps Derek also has a poetic communist lineage...

Guy Beckett (guy), Friday, 1 July 2005 08:55 (twenty years ago)

or maybe "Some of these people are horrendous in a small way"

Because

all of the people are part horrendous some of the time
some of the people are part horrendous all of the time
but not all of the people are all horrendous all of the time..

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 1 July 2005 09:01 (twenty years ago)

Derek brought up in Battersea in council flat by West Indian parents IIRC.

Has anybody got any sarcasm cleaner? My screen's covered in it after reading that page.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 1 July 2005 09:38 (twenty years ago)

To punish Saskia for what is hardly a rare degree of racism, they put here on TV for weeks guaranteeing a small fortune from rubbish magazines for at least months to come? She must be crushed.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 1 July 2005 10:05 (twenty years ago)

Eviction show double length tonight. Speculation that Saskia is winning the vote and that either Maxwell will be expelled for persistent rule-breaking or the two of them have said in the Diary Room that they'll walk together (makes sense, they stand more chance of making money as a couple).

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 1 July 2005 11:05 (twenty years ago)

Yeah I can see them going together. With Craig clutching their legs, dragged along from behind.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Friday, 1 July 2005 11:08 (twenty years ago)

Maybe this is a big part of why they put two new people in last weekend?

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Friday, 1 July 2005 11:09 (twenty years ago)

good for her for getting ones that aren't way out of proportion to her shape.

god i HATE that unshapely black thing saskia's been wearing lately

dahlin (dahlin), Friday, 1 July 2005 11:19 (twenty years ago)

That's no way to talk about Vanessa.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 1 July 2005 11:24 (twenty years ago)

The beautiful blossoming of the Derek/Science double act is the best thing in the house at the moment.

(Who's actually the most popular, among the general public? Am I right in thinking Kemal?)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 1 July 2005 11:27 (twenty years ago)

Makosi/Anthony/Kemal most liked I figure. I predict they will be the final three too.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Friday, 1 July 2005 11:29 (twenty years ago)

i think Derek will make it to the final 3 now.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 1 July 2005 11:36 (twenty years ago)

i'm saying 4th

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Friday, 1 July 2005 11:36 (twenty years ago)

The bookies' odds are probably the best indicator.

Makosi and Kemal have been swapping status as favourite for a couple of weeks now. Derek's odds have plummetted in the past couple of days and he's now barely longer than those two.

Currently, according to DS's best price finder:

Makosi 7/2
Kemal 4/1
Derek 5/1
Anthony 15/2
Science 8/1
Maxwell 10/1
Eugene 14/1
Craig 16/1
Orlaith 16/1
Vanessa 33/1
Saskia 66/1
Any Other 25/1

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 1 July 2005 11:36 (twenty years ago)

how things can change though, maxwell was favourite to win for the first 4 weeks or so.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 1 July 2005 11:38 (twenty years ago)

If Maxwell doesn't go tonight I can see him staying on for another 3 weeks or so but being up for eviction every time, Paul Clark style.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Friday, 1 July 2005 11:39 (twenty years ago)

or the two of them have said in the Diary Room that they'll walk together

aaw, how sweeeeet.

what would be vastly amusing (and quite likely) is that they've agreed to this ... then, at the last minute, maxwell backs out and decides to stay.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Friday, 1 July 2005 11:42 (twenty years ago)

yeah i think they have probably said this in the diary room a number of times and that is why tonights edition is extended.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 1 July 2005 11:46 (twenty years ago)

If the public had any sense, we'd make it so that the final three is Makosi, Maxwell and Science. I'd watch the whole week if it was three people refusing to speak to each other.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Friday, 1 July 2005 11:49 (twenty years ago)

I fear for Makosi...I love her to bits and do think she'll be in the final three, but there's still a long way to go and she could start being perceived as Too Clever By Half.

Kemal's status will have been given a massive boost by "at least someone got wet tonight" - I can see Anthony worming his way back into favour if the narrative with Orlaith goes further.

The Lex (The Lex), Friday, 1 July 2005 11:51 (twenty years ago)

Also, how much of a dark horse is Vanessa? Who's going to nominate her right now, given that everyone left in his bigger fish to fry?

I have warmed to her, she is of course still very dull and incredibly dim but contra everyone else she actually seems genuinely nice.

The Lex (The Lex), Friday, 1 July 2005 11:52 (twenty years ago)

oh god anthony's going to win isn't he?

Britain's Jauntiest Shepherd (Alan), Friday, 1 July 2005 12:03 (twenty years ago)

It does seem quite likely.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Friday, 1 July 2005 12:08 (twenty years ago)

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Friday, 1 July 2005 12:09 (twenty years ago)

No, he's not entertaining enough. Pretty likely to come 2nd or 3rd tho.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 1 July 2005 12:10 (twenty years ago)

I'd put a spare money bet on Orlaith... 16/1?

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 1 July 2005 12:14 (twenty years ago)

not entertaining enough? this is bb we're talking about. winners = craig, (brian), kate lawaler, cameron, bloody nadia. I do not see a pattern of entertaining. brian being the exception etc

Britain's Jauntiest Shepherd (Alan), Friday, 1 July 2005 12:15 (twenty years ago)

Yeah but Anthony is much more in a kind of Darren, Ray, Jonny mode, i.e. even less entertaining than them.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 1 July 2005 12:17 (twenty years ago)

Jonny was more "Drop Dead Fred" to Kate Lawler's eventual winner persona.

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 1 July 2005 12:21 (twenty years ago)

obv eugene SHOULD win

Britain's Jauntiest Shepherd (Alan), Friday, 1 July 2005 12:28 (twenty years ago)

I hate him but it's so bleedin obvious that Kemal is going to win this

Ste (Fuzzy), Friday, 1 July 2005 12:29 (twenty years ago)

I fear the house and BB will go very boring once Sask, Max, Craig and Science have gone (four of the next six evictees surely - the other two being Eugene and Orlaith).

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Friday, 1 July 2005 12:38 (twenty years ago)

I am fine with either Makosi or Kemal winning, particularly the former. I don't know a thing about Orlaith (offthread), but I'd like to.

Negativa, True Believer (Sheryl Crow in a Britney costume) (Barima), Friday, 1 July 2005 12:45 (twenty years ago)

Don't assume that the battle lines are drawn for good: once (if) M + S are gone, I'd be surprised if C + A don't try to reintegrate with the larger group. And even if they don't manage that, and they go, then the current larger group will split.

It won't turn into a wonderland of harmony. Each group are putting aside intra-group disharmony to oppose the greater enemy just now.

M&S and C&A, heh.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 1 July 2005 12:56 (twenty years ago)

There are rumours flying around Digital Spy about why they've extended the second of tonight's eviction shows by 25 mins e.g. the evicted housemate will be allowed to pick another person to go, the phonelines will be opened for 30 mins for the public to vote out ANY housemate etc etc. These both sound rubbish to me.

Emma, Friday, 1 July 2005 13:13 (twenty years ago)

But Tim, once Anthony is reduced to one and one of he or Science goes (Science action factor vs Anthony's 'fitness' according to female voting masses) then there's no more shared enemies no?

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Friday, 1 July 2005 13:20 (twenty years ago)

Possibly, after Maxwell goes (next week?) it'll be time to nominate the 'not really my pal but nice enough' people...

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 1 July 2005 13:28 (twenty years ago)

...and the interminable humming and hawing over reasons for nominating will begin.

Mädchen (Madchen), Friday, 1 July 2005 13:39 (twenty years ago)

and BB will get v cross at people for nominating just 'because he left the seat up a couple of times'.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Friday, 1 July 2005 13:40 (twenty years ago)

Worst reason: I think they're finding it really hard in here and they want to leave.

Mädchen (Madchen), Friday, 1 July 2005 13:43 (twenty years ago)

Anthony is also a 'transparent' like Craig, i.e. his personality reflects the people he is with.

He is already turning 'nicer'...

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 1 July 2005 13:43 (twenty years ago)

Steve, I'm saying that once one of the groups has collapsed, new divides and alliances will likely form. It seems to me that this bunch of people is too much in the habit of being fractious to stop now. The remaining HMs will find enemies amongst their current friends (remember Science & Kemal really hated each other initially, but they have set that aside for the time being).

In the latest exciting chapter in The Social Life of Me, tonight I hope to stay in, frame a picture and watch Big Brother. It's for this scintillating lifestyle I moved to the metropolis.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 1 July 2005 13:45 (twenty years ago)

new divides and alliances will likely form

i hope so but at the mo I see it going more like BB4.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Friday, 1 July 2005 13:50 (twenty years ago)

i think tim is absolutely right. although i might replace the word "fractious" with ... ooh, i dunno. the word "knob-like", perhaps.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Friday, 1 July 2005 13:59 (twenty years ago)

re: tonight...

Last time they had this, they had a very quick "vote one of these past housemates back in" ...

Meaning, vote for..

Mary,
Lesley,
Roberto,
Sam or
Saskia

Hmmm...

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 1 July 2005 15:23 (twenty years ago)

Mary or Roberto would win that, but I can't see any benefit to either of them going back in, really.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 1 July 2005 15:25 (twenty years ago)

OMG PUT MARY BACK IN!!!! OR Kitten!

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 1 July 2005 15:25 (twenty years ago)

What should be done is face-to-face nominations on the sofas, then a half hour phone vote whereby the evictee is chosen BUT the twist is that they stay in the house for a whole week until next Friday without any chance of winning but giving them the chance to cause all kinds of shit.

Unfortunately they'd probably pick Vanessa who would sit in a corner and sulk for seven days.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Friday, 1 July 2005 15:41 (twenty years ago)

BBLB right now is golden - a caller saying that once Saskia goes, everyone in the house will merge into one group and be happy. Another in the studio saying that Saskia is really smart and witty, so should stay.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 1 July 2005 15:54 (twenty years ago)

Lesley would totally win a re-enter the house vote, no competition.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 1 July 2005 15:56 (twenty years ago)

I would vote for her and I have no credit on my phone!

c/n (Cozen), Friday, 1 July 2005 17:36 (twenty years ago)

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 1 July 2005 19:32 (twenty years ago)

It's awful. It's like watching the most malignant chapters from my schooldays played out in front of me. I'm not sure why I'm still watching it. Oh wait, I know. Because, like Tim, I'm doing something else at the same time.

How's the picture framing going, Tim?

Having worked night shift 7 days in a row (this being my 7th), I'm completely out of synch with what the hell is going on in the show. They should have a catch-up show, like the hollyoaks omnibus, but make it about 30mins long. Ah well, I'm sure I'll figure it all out next week.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 1 July 2005 20:51 (twenty years ago)

God that was vile.

The Lex (The Lex), Friday, 1 July 2005 20:52 (twenty years ago)

Saskia was complaining about being booed and asking to see her family. Davina was comforting her by saying it was nothing compared to lesley who got 'lynched'

a, Friday, 1 July 2005 20:56 (twenty years ago)

Craig: "I have to think of a scathingly witty nickname for Makosi. Let's see, she's African and she behaves like a queen. What could I call her that emcompasses both these qualities? (thinks) She's from Africa, and she's a queen. She's African..... and she behaves like a queen. Ooh, I could think of something that not only makes those things obvious, but is also the name of a film! Or a song! But mainly a film. That would make it, like, a full blown pun or something. Now let's see, what films can I think of? Naah, best stick to just the one entendre for now, stick the other in later. She's African, and a queen. She's an African person who reminds me of a queen. She's an Afric....QUEEN AFRICA! THAT'S IT! That's the one. Oh Craig, you rock at puns."
(Does the "I rock at puns" song and dance)
The rabbit working the controls in Craig's head: (drops head in hands and starts shaking head) "Shitting hell Craig."

> They should have a catch-up show

they used to but not this year. the psychologist show seems to have been dropped as well. btw, the previous night's show is repeated (with additional cuts) at 7:30am the next day if that's any use.

less boos than i was expecting. craig gets viler and viler with each passing day although to be fair(?!) his audition video was v sweary.

roberto good on bblb this week and lasted until thursday (they'd sidelined lesley and sam by the wednesday). will be interesting to see how long swastikia lasts. roberto and mary, sitting in a tree...

koogs (koogs), Friday, 1 July 2005 21:49 (twenty years ago)

anyone notice Maxwell's quasi fascistic black shirt get up?

elwisty (elwisty), Friday, 1 July 2005 22:17 (twenty years ago)

had to change channel when their mics picked up Maxkia's slobbering and slurping. too gross.

"I mean, they are, like, a bunch of bloody monkeys in that place"

to be fair i don't think she would mean this in the context it's being taken in here - she referred to herself as 'a quarter black', not 'a quarter monkey'. i don't understand why she got booed so much more than Maxwell who didn't seem to get any at all despite being the aggressive one (when Davina asked people why they wanted Saskia out, nobody seemed to offer a proper reason, no-one said 'cos she's a ill-proportinonately breasted flighty racist and it's doing my 'ead in' for example - is it cos she is quarter black a woman? still, glad one of them is out of there as it means no more horrible snogging sounds.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Friday, 1 July 2005 22:23 (twenty years ago)

While I was very pleased to see Saskia go, not least because of those revolting slurpy fumbles, last night's show was oddly un-enjoyable. Maybe that's because I had managed to convince myself that there was a chance of Maxwell going; maybe because I wanted Davina to be much harder on her, or at least impress upon her that the idea that she & Maxwell are enormously popular among the viewers is completely false.

The picture framing went well and without pretension, with only one small slice stanley knifed into the floor!
