Remember! Forget about the sugar Friday 12 August involves Dancing

So yes, I would have said WE'RE BACK, but actually this is the FIRST ONE, EVER.

Forget about the sugar: the electro/pop/r&b dancing night that will sure make your medicine go down. ooh yeah. Dancing from the early hour of 8pm til the early hours of 1am.

it happens at The Enterprise bar, opposite to Chalk Farm tube station. Bus 168 will take you right outside, or a pleasant walk from Camden Town over the canal.

we may play some of these things.
ANNIE / GIRLS ALOUD / ST ETIENNE / AMERIE / GOLDFRAPP / VITALIC / M.I.A. / MISSY ELLIOTT / BASEMENT JAXX / PET SHOP BOYS / GWEN STEFANI / STEREOLAB / POSTAL SERVICE / GO! TEAM / and more

I'm particularly looking forward to playing something off the new record by "and more". Indeed.

Would be lovely to see you there.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 25 July 2005 10:59 (twenty years ago)

(Probably shoulda revived the old one anyway)

It should be noted that if I can still DJ, I'll be playing none of the above, and am planning on ending with a track with the oddest, most unwelcome mid-tune break ever. Ha.

BARMS, Monday, 25 July 2005 11:07 (twenty years ago)

oh, you're an and more fan too?

ken c (ken c), Monday, 25 July 2005 11:08 (twenty years ago)

I am looking forward to this again!

The Lex (The Lex), Monday, 25 July 2005 18:10 (twenty years ago)

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 1 August 2005 15:03 (twenty years ago)

only if you're coming dom! "just another day" perhaps.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 1 August 2005 15:03 (twenty years ago)

I *might* make it. "Just Another Day" would definitely be a positive for me, it really makes me stop and think how hard mutlti-millionaires have it.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 1 August 2005 15:05 (twenty years ago)

I desperately hope you're not talking about Jon Secada here.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Monday, 1 August 2005 15:09 (twenty years ago)

it's not about him, it's about the CHAIN GANG dawg.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 1 August 2005 15:11 (twenty years ago)

Sociah, if you talk like that, I may have to clean your plate, but I ain't a busboy.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 1 August 2005 15:14 (twenty years ago)

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 07:41 (twenty years ago)

Stevem I was actually intending to play JUST THAT SONG!

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 07:55 (twenty years ago)

and I didn't know that was Tiga!

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 07:55 (twenty years ago)

i love you (not in the Craig way)

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 07:57 (twenty years ago)

Mannionz prefers KenChu (dongs).

Wonder if we could get the Manc massive to come along, by way of apology.

BARMS, Wednesday, 3 August 2005 09:59 (twenty years ago)

What, Lex, you were only going to play that song, in the manner of Norman Greenbaum doing 40-minute versions of "Spirit In The Sky" on stage (and then coming back for a 15-minute encore of "Spirit In The Sky")?

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 10:03 (twenty years ago)

a 40-minute 'Don't U Want' would be so good!

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 10:06 (twenty years ago)

this would also mean you could stay on the dancefloor.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 10:10 (twenty years ago)

i'll be turning the dj booth into the dancefloor

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 10:23 (twenty years ago)

I'll be turning the dancefloor into a Nando's.

BARMS, Wednesday, 3 August 2005 10:56 (twenty years ago)

I'll be turning Nando's into a distressed tanning salon.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 10:58 (twenty years ago)

Alex, be careful dancing in the dj booth. Your CDs will skip.

marianna lcl (marianna lcl), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 11:03 (twenty years ago)

As part of the Manc massive I sadly say I can't come along but this looks proper grand and will hopefully help to kick off a big smart dance-pop clubscene across the UK, so all the best with it and I'll head down in the future sometime. (also, my mate Stewart recently moved to London and his new night is on Weds 31st August at Madame JoJos. It's called Contact and it's an 'International Pop' night, Pay TV are playing. I'm heading down for that Weds night so it'd be good to see some of you lot there - I'll start a thread about it nearer the time)

Affectian (Affectian), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 11:05 (twenty years ago)

Isn't the flyer pretty?

marianna lcl (marianna lcl), Friday, 5 August 2005 20:45 (twenty years ago)

Alex, be careful dancing in the dj booth. Your CDs will skip.

Decks need to be on paving slabs on car inner tubes mounted in a bed of sand.

Ed (dali), Friday, 5 August 2005 21:05 (twenty years ago)

or DJ from the iPod like i am gonna.. ooh yes. what a great age we live in.

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 7 August 2005 13:01 (twenty years ago)

dahlin (dahlin), Sunday, 7 August 2005 14:39 (twenty years ago)

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 7 August 2005 23:18 (twenty years ago)

oh no actually you are veggie innit?

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 7 August 2005 23:46 (twenty years ago)

i would like to come

charltonlido (gareth), Monday, 8 August 2005 04:14 (twenty years ago)

Please do!

marianna lcl (marianna lcl), Monday, 8 August 2005 05:52 (twenty years ago)

ken c (ken c), Monday, 8 August 2005 06:45 (twenty years ago)

kingfish (Kingfish), Monday, 8 August 2005 06:51 (twenty years ago)

what a great way to celebrate!

ken c (ken c), Monday, 8 August 2005 07:04 (twenty years ago)

Hmmm, I think I might come along as well.

robster (robster), Monday, 8 August 2005 07:06 (twenty years ago)

both kingfish and leon c. can come celebrate their birthdays from afar, listen to great music and then make out at the end of the evening

ken c (ken c), Monday, 8 August 2005 07:18 (twenty years ago)

bowling? when did bowling come up? tho i suppose it's always on the agenda with ken around...
yes, i'm a veggie yo. cater to my needs sucka!
yay rob! coming out for pre gig dining as well?
who else is coming? very exciting!

dahlin (dahlin), Monday, 8 August 2005 09:04 (twenty years ago)

haha did i just say bowling? sorry, i meant dancing! sorry I sometimes subconsciously substitute anything good with the word "bowling" without realising.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 8 August 2005 09:08 (twenty years ago)

ken

have you checked the decks can cope with an ipod, ie do you have access to the pluggy in bits (and do you have the right wire!)? you probably won't have the level issues i've had in the past as you have an SUPER-LOUD ipod innit?

i shall be there.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 8 August 2005 09:58 (twenty years ago)

hey steve yes we've (supposedly, but not with my own eyes - A GIRL checked it which makes me a little nervous) checked for the aux input thingie already so it shouldn't be a problem at all, and I'll bring in backup CDs and stuff anyway (since i dunno if i'll have access to TWO ipods just yet) and god yeah the ipod is LOUD!! i often feel a little deaf when i turn the ipod off after the bus to work.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 8 August 2005 10:05 (twenty years ago)

two ipods. ha!

dahlin (dahlin), Monday, 8 August 2005 10:35 (twenty years ago)

I may show up - I know I am old, but it's a weekend and vaguely at my end of town. See if I feel fit on Friday.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 8 August 2005 11:03 (twenty years ago)

I am also old and out of practice with this dancing malarkey but it is at my (working) end of town so I will have a look in, provided that some of youse give me a dance or two (I am v. rusty but promise to avoid Brentism).

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Monday, 8 August 2005 11:09 (twenty years ago)

is there any chance of anyone playing "since u been gone"? i realised over the weekend that i have yet to hear it played out anywhere.

toby (tsg20), Monday, 8 August 2005 11:15 (twenty years ago)

Yes, there is a chance.

The Lex (The Lex), Monday, 8 August 2005 11:17 (twenty years ago)

Toby, it's crap! I don't get what the fuss is about over that one at all.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Monday, 8 August 2005 11:18 (twenty years ago)

First three seconds are promising but then it dovetails into pretty bog standard Lavigne-isms.

Not as good, needless to say, as the similarly-named Rainbow tune.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Monday, 8 August 2005 11:22 (twenty years ago)

Whenever the song is mentioned I think of Rainbow and have to do an alarming gear-shift in my brane in order to recover the thread of conversation.

Is this a sign of age?

robster (robster), Monday, 8 August 2005 11:24 (twenty years ago)

As well as Zdar/Tiga I also request Vanessa Paradis 'Be My Baby' for no particular reason other than it's sugary-sweet and I am an ponce - not that FATS crew need suggestions for what to play of course.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Monday, 8 August 2005 11:27 (twenty years ago)

No, I do exactly the same. Then again I think we're about the same age.

Anna (Anna), Monday, 8 August 2005 11:28 (twenty years ago)

i think it may be.. my age is somewhere between alex's and robster's - and i don't know either of the songs.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 8 August 2005 11:31 (twenty years ago)

i have no idea what this rainbow song is. then again i am not sure if i have ever actually seen rainbow (that kids' tv programme, right?).

stevem you are WRONG.

toby (tsg20), Monday, 8 August 2005 11:46 (twenty years ago)

RITCHIE BLACKMORE'S RAINBOW NUMBER THREE IN 1979

KIDS TODAY!

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Monday, 8 August 2005 11:52 (twenty years ago)

I've just imagined an alternative version of the past where Geoffrey Hayes and Bungle smoked dope on the set of Tiswas.

robster (robster), Monday, 8 August 2005 11:58 (twenty years ago)

I agree with Manniong: it's pants, there's nothing to elevate it at all - I "hilariously" of course thinking she is Jeremy Clarkson's daughter which is good for a yuck or two, but I don't have to hear the song to laugh about it.

I am laughing as I type.

Lucretia My Reflection (Lucretia My Reflection), Monday, 8 August 2005 12:03 (twenty years ago)

provided that some of youse give me a dance or two

will you be demonstrating the moves from more magazine again? i'm sure people will dance with you if so!

colette (a2lette), Monday, 8 August 2005 12:20 (twenty years ago)

I committed all of these moves to memory and am sure I can reproduce them with flair and elan.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Monday, 8 August 2005 12:26 (twenty years ago)

3 days!

hope everyone's been practicing their dances

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 13:42 (twenty years ago)

I have!

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 14:18 (twenty years ago)

Toby we were HEADBANGING to the original Since You've Been Gone the other day!

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 14:26 (twenty years ago)

i am tempted to wear a beret

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 14:30 (twenty years ago)

http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B0009JOPBM.02.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 14:31 (twenty years ago)

Gareth, you always say that you will come. And you always say that you will wear a beret. On the rare occasion that the former is true, the latter is never.

(I don't know how much like dancing I've been feeling lately. So I'll probably just not turn up at the last minute. Not like anyone will actually notice, anyway.)

Alce Tea-Skirt (kate), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 14:35 (twenty years ago)

It's probably wise of Gareth to reveal his beret plan as it would be just awful if other people were to attend wearing the same headwear...

(curses under breath)

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 14:39 (twenty years ago)

One of the pub quiz questions last night: Where are Nine Black Alps from? I was tempted to ring The Lex and ask but I realised that I already knew the answer, sadly.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 14:41 (twenty years ago)

i'm buying a beret type thing tomorrow. it's winter white and slightly fuzzy, kind of russian princess meets kangol.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 14:41 (twenty years ago)

Well I don't know where Nine Black Alps are from and I don't like them anyway! 6/10 != liking them! I have DELETED that mp3 from my computer PERMANENTLY.

Kate if you don't turn up I will notice. I want all four Shimura Curves in attendance please.

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 14:59 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, Kate, WTF.

I won't be making any grand fashion statements - I'll likely just be wearing "the suit" again.

BARMS, Tuesday, 9 August 2005 16:51 (twenty years ago)

argh this coincides with the BB FINAL so maybe i'll just leave it until poptimism next week.

i own zero berets and have no plans to increase that quantity in the foreseeable future. frank spencer and all that.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 05:26 (twenty years ago)

Just got back from Crete - I am now a BRONZED ADONIS and this will give me the perfect opportunity to show off. Although late dancing may depend on Seal as I've cried off for over a month now for various reasons and doing so again might be stretching it a bit, but I'll definitely be along early doors.

I can't think of Since You've Been Gone without imagining us singing it loudly over every possible track at Glasto. Ah, happy memories.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 08:33 (twenty years ago)

I wish I was a BRONZED ADONIS instead of a PALE BLUE KEN STOTT :-(

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 08:34 (twenty years ago)

Is Since You've Been Gone the new Ticket to Ride?

robster (robster), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 08:43 (twenty years ago)

Sadly, Karen Carpenter is no longer with us to provide a moody, slow cover version.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 08:44 (twenty years ago)

I think Nine Black Alps are from Liverpool (or that general area, Birkenhead, Merseyside etc).

I have a job interview at 5:00 on Friday, so I may pop along looking over dressed, but I may go home and collapse with the trauma of it all.

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 08:48 (twenty years ago)

Job interview at 5:00 on a Friday? That's a bit sadistic innit...or is it meant to signify "commitment" of potential employee?

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 08:55 (twenty years ago)

I'm glad Matt has got some sun as he was looking worryingly pale (LIKE ME).

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 09:08 (twenty years ago)

Anna, they're actually Mancs - but still rubbish either way.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 09:11 (twenty years ago)

Pah - north west anyway. (Please God, don't let anyone from the north west read this or I will drown under a sea of comments along the lines of "we should never have built that bloody ship cannal.")

Yeah, not too keen on the time either, but at least they'll remember me.

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 09:17 (twenty years ago)

I had a job interview at Friday 6pm once, for my first proper job after graduating. It's only great if they agree to take you on there and then, which they did in this case. So good luck Anna!

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 09:20 (twenty years ago)

and being over dressed is a GOOD thing!

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 09:22 (twenty years ago)

If I go, I'll wear my peacock Liberty shirt, then. So I won't feel all dressed up with nowhere to go again.

Alce Tea-Skirt (kate), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 09:25 (twenty years ago)

(ken xpost)

except in poptimism next week if it's still hot.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 09:25 (twenty years ago)

i dont have a beret

charltonlido (gareth), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 10:32 (twenty years ago)

i thought i did, but i must have been thinking of something else

charltonlido (gareth), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 10:32 (twenty years ago)

Alice Tea-Skirt in a peacock Liberty shirt sounds classic. This is one of ken c's better thread titles.

youn, Wednesday, 10 August 2005 10:35 (twenty years ago)

Nine Black Alps are from Manchester and are one the most passionate and intelligent young rock bands around today but i don't think you lot, from what i have seen here, would like them too much. just wanted to you know stick an oar in as it where. man i should better things to dow ith my time, i guess this is the territory that comes with being nine black alps biggest fan. i mean they've really actually changed my life turned me on to plath, i cut my hair, i looked like a scarcrow, now something has appeared that understands. ha ha teenage angst whatever. some of us don't have sugar and can't dance. don't worry.

why did someone post seemingly at random the cover of NBA's classic debut album mid thread anyway? it feels like a sign...

Jo Farigan (nine black alps' no # 1 fan), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 11:01 (twenty years ago)

i'm planning on coming, but without berets or any alps of any colors.

(although i just realised i keep reading the band name as 'elk' instead of 'alps', which means i'm picturing something like santa's reindeer painted black, or something. duh)

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 11:10 (twenty years ago)

yes kate DO come and DO wear that skirt! i imagine it looks lovely!!!
and someone has to make up for the fact that i will likely turn up looking like a scrub

dahlin (dahlin), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 12:25 (twenty years ago)

SHIRT!!! IT IS A SHIRT!!!

Alce Tea-Skirt (kate), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 12:26 (twenty years ago)

And can we dance like this:

http://amarillo.com/images/headlines/082999/celtic.jpg

(And don't say "But you and Magnus dance like that every time someone plays "Prince Charming".)

Alce Tea-Skirt (kate), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 12:27 (twenty years ago)

oh. right. yes.

dahlin (dahlin), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 12:27 (twenty years ago)

Gareth, berets are the sandals of headwear. Don't even consider it.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 14:56 (twenty years ago)

Maybe I'll wear a kilt. But they're not so hott on girls. :-(

Alce Tea-Skirt (kate), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 14:57 (twenty years ago)

CAN I ASK: maybe will any pubs in the area be showing BB?

Also: are there DRINKING PLANS BEFOREHAND? What time are people planning on getting there, and so on?

Lucretia My Reflection (Lucretia My Reflection), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 15:07 (twenty years ago)

what time does BB finish btw?? I am considering bringing a Telly with me. But not sure yet!!

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 15:10 (twenty years ago)

actually it'd be rubbish anyway apart from finding out the result.

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 15:11 (twenty years ago)

Oooh but EXIT INTERVIEWS! Errr finishes about 10.30ish I think? Do pubs usually show it?

Lucretia My Reflection (Lucretia My Reflection), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 15:14 (twenty years ago)

I say we get someone to VIDEO it all, and then have a post-Sugar BB after-party.

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 15:20 (twenty years ago)

I LIKE YOUR THINKING ALEX!

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 15:25 (twenty years ago)

sad
(but totally in approval)

dahlin (dahlin), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 17:33 (twenty years ago)

Drinks. Upstairs at the Enterprise, from around 8pm.

marianna lcl (marianna lcl), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 17:56 (twenty years ago)

and also, downstairs at the Enterprise is availble for DRINKS beforehand, if so desired!!

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 18:00 (twenty years ago)

But we won't be downstairs Ken, we will be upstairs.

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 18:05 (twenty years ago)

i'll be wherever ken is, BECAUSE I LOVE HIM!
oops, did i say that out loud?
mmmm ken
ken

dahlin (dahlin), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 18:09 (twenty years ago)

but before 8 we won't be upstairs!

i think starry was asking about pre-forgetaboutthesugar drinks!

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 18:14 (twenty years ago)

woah! love! hey but you're a MARRIED WOMAN!

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 18:15 (twenty years ago)

it's all sham anyway. i want SUGAR!
nah, forget about the sugar...

dahlin (dahlin), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 18:42 (twenty years ago)

I am going to do my best to ruin this Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads scenario and it's going to be the best fun I've had in ages.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 21:22 (twenty years ago)

do you want me to stay home and text you the news as it happens, Matt?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 21:23 (twenty years ago)

oh my oh my 26 hours to go before don'tforgetthesugar.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 11 August 2005 15:43 (twenty years ago)

shameless plugger

dahlin (dahlin), Thursday, 11 August 2005 17:01 (twenty years ago)

Since Matt DC has shown no interest in my texting him BB news (and giving my txt skillxor, this is surely for the best), I thought I might come along instead. Then I realised that Ken would be playing Belle & Sebastien and The Lex would obviously be mainly indie, so now I'm not sure.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 11 August 2005 19:01 (twenty years ago)

ken's playing b&s? he promised me it would be all salt n'pepa and misteeq! damn...

dahlin (dahlin), Thursday, 11 August 2005 19:16 (twenty years ago)

my set will be NO INDIE ALL BANGERS

The Lex (The Lex), Thursday, 11 August 2005 20:41 (twenty years ago)

i wasn't going to play any B+S at all, but might do now just for martin's pleasure.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 11 August 2005 21:11 (twenty years ago)

i was psyched for this but now i'm catching a bloody virus - arrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhhh (hopefully just a 24 hour thing i can shake off in time)

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Thursday, 11 August 2005 21:12 (twenty years ago)

:( Poor Steve. I want you to come so I shall send you medicinal vibes.

don't try it

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 12 August 2005 06:34 (twenty years ago)

TONIGHT!

I am doing my listen-off right now!

The Lex (The Lex), Friday, 12 August 2005 09:13 (twenty years ago)

I am wearing my peacock shirt (and my nice jewelery) but I suspect I'm going to be terribly rumpled before I get anywhere near Camden.

Oh why oh why must it be in Camden? I'll have to leave very early as I think I'll have to get about 3 busses home. It's at the Chalk Farm end, as well, isn't it?

Alce Tea-Skirt (kate), Friday, 12 August 2005 09:15 (twenty years ago)

It is indeed.

I am PSYCHED, yo.

spontine (cis), Friday, 12 August 2005 09:17 (twenty years ago)

dude, it's not camden at all it's chalk farm!

camden is like goth and indierock stuff. i managed to get the bus home from streatham the last time in about an hour! can do it in 3 buses but easy buses! i even stopped at brixton to see if there was a HDIF that night (there wasn't) so it was actually 4 buses for me and there were just buses all queuing up to take me home.

i can't quite remember the route now.. it was the one from outside the megabowl, and then somehow at brixton that somehow ends up at euston, and then the 253.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 12 August 2005 09:22 (twenty years ago)

Bear in mind that the Megabowl is a 15 minute walk from my house! But still - I'm coming from Holborn. The 59 goes from Streatham Hill to Euston. Will the 253 take me to Chalk Farm? (I hate the 253, but that's another story.)

But I'm not worried about getting there, I'm more worried about getting back. Maybe I should try to pull a goth and sleep in Camden. Sigh.

Alce Tea-Skirt (kate), Friday, 12 August 2005 09:24 (twenty years ago)

You can get the 168 from Euston to Chalk Farm.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 12 August 2005 09:27 (twenty years ago)

yes take the 168 (i only said 253 because that took me home to holloway). 27 almost takes you there but beware to stop before it whizzes you to sainsbury's

ken c (ken c), Friday, 12 August 2005 09:33 (twenty years ago)

erm i mean safeways! (or is it morrisons?)

ken c (ken c), Friday, 12 August 2005 09:33 (twenty years ago)

i have absolutely no idea how i'll be getting home this evening. but rather than a problem, i like to see it as a little adventure.

michael grant (michael digby grant), Friday, 12 August 2005 09:35 (twenty years ago)

yes, but how do I get home afterwards? The 59 stops running very early - before midnight. Is there a bus from Chalk Farm to Trafalgar Square? Or better, Regent St (N159 less crowded if you pick it at Oxford Circus).

Alce Tea-Skirt (kate), Friday, 12 August 2005 09:35 (twenty years ago)

If you walked down a bit, you could get the (N)24 from the Barfly to Trafalgar Sq.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 12 August 2005 09:37 (twenty years ago)

what are the nightbuses to streatham kate (i don't know those too well) but camden has several buses that go to trafalgar square if that helps, plus 88 goes to stockwell/clapham, 24 takes you to pimlico.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 12 August 2005 09:38 (twenty years ago)

haha xpost.

camden town has N29, 24, N5 and a couple of others that go to trafalgar

ken c (ken c), Friday, 12 August 2005 09:39 (twenty years ago)

Stockwell, Clapham, Pimlico doesn't really help. I think Trafalgar Sq is the best bet - if all else fails I could get an N3 and change at Brixton.

Or go back to the plan of pulling a goth, which would solve both problems with one stone.

or, better yet, don't drink too much and leave at a sensible hour.

Like *that* will happen.

Alce Tea-Skirt (kate), Friday, 12 August 2005 09:40 (twenty years ago)

haha i should really just link the night bus spidermap for all

http://www.tfl.gov.uk/buses/spiders/pdf/camden-town-night.pdf

ken c (ken c), Friday, 12 August 2005 09:40 (twenty years ago)

Or maybe go across to Swiss Cottage, get the N13 to Baker Street... is there an N2? That would do.

SPIDER MAPS!!! YAY SPIDER MAPS!!! I'm in an imaginary band called The Spider Maps.

Alce Tea-Skirt (kate), Friday, 12 August 2005 09:41 (twenty years ago)

i doubt the goths actually live in camden though - rent there is quite expensive.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 12 August 2005 09:43 (twenty years ago)

Oh god, Camden Bus Stops are so confusing... Where is my cousin when I need him? I think he still lives in Camden!

Alce Tea-Skirt (kate), Friday, 12 August 2005 09:44 (twenty years ago)

I have to leave shortly before 11 but I'll definitely be there.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 12 August 2005 10:05 (twenty years ago)

I like how this thread, which was formerly about dull stuff like POP and DANCING, has turned into a bus thread. Yay!

robster (robster), Friday, 12 August 2005 10:20 (twenty years ago)

Busses, pop, dancing and drinking. is there really much else to ILX life? ;-)

Alce Tea-Skirt (kate), Friday, 12 August 2005 10:20 (twenty years ago)

I am looking forward to this, I haven't been to an indie club for AGES.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 12 August 2005 10:24 (twenty years ago)

All London threads go transport in the end. The New Yorkers may squable about bars, the Glasgow lot just go out without any fuss, but in London you can always depend on the fact we'll start banging on about how to get there. We are practical really aren't we?

Anna (Anna), Friday, 12 August 2005 10:25 (twenty years ago)

is it seal, matt?

charltonlido (gareth), Friday, 12 August 2005 10:47 (twenty years ago)

Is anyone meeting up beforehand? If so, where?

Anna (Anna), Friday, 12 August 2005 10:51 (twenty years ago)

I need to get some dinner first. Don't know if I shall do this around Holborn or Camden. I quite fancy Wagamamma for some strange reason.

Alce Tea-Skirt (kate), Friday, 12 August 2005 10:55 (twenty years ago)

there's one in holborn AND camden!

ken c (ken c), Friday, 12 August 2005 10:58 (twenty years ago)

I know! Hence my confusion.

(though the Holborn one is inside the EEZOHAD - though technically, I suppose, so is my work.)

Alce Tea-Skirt (kate), Friday, 12 August 2005 11:01 (twenty years ago)

the hog's head?

ken c (ken c), Friday, 12 August 2005 11:02 (twenty years ago)

Gareth - yep.

I'm quite excited that we are one week per month away from that magical point when we will never be without a Friday night ILX-related dancing option.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 12 August 2005 11:06 (twenty years ago)

the Glasgow lot just go out without any fuss

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. hahahahahahahaha. ha.

Mädchen (Madchen), Friday, 12 August 2005 11:11 (twenty years ago)

ha.

Mädchen (Madchen), Friday, 12 August 2005 11:11 (twenty years ago)

yeah the going out is the easy bit, it's just that none of them know where the others are going to...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 12 August 2005 11:19 (twenty years ago)

So what happened on the food issue? Anyone interested in Wagamamma?

Alce Tea-Skirt (kate), Friday, 12 August 2005 12:12 (twenty years ago)

i want to wag a mamma but will have to save that until after the club i think. don't want to exhaust myself before DJing.

(also will be in a mad rush between going home from work and getting out again)

ken c (ken c), Friday, 12 August 2005 12:29 (twenty years ago)

Humph. I might just go for dodgy cult all you can eat for £5 food by myself. Except then I'd be in a coma and not much for dancing either.

I suppose there's always Tasty Corner...

Alce Tea-Skirt (kate), Friday, 12 August 2005 12:31 (twenty years ago)

shame they don't have THE WORLD'S BEST STEAK SANDWICH shop anymore (mmm not that it suits vegetarians...)

camden lock market will still be full of yummy food stores too.

Alce Tea-Skirt (kate), Friday, 12 August 2005 12:37 (twenty years ago)

Look, we have managed to successfully FAP, in the same place as each other, on more than one occasion, in Glasgow recently. We have shaken off the old rubbishness and disorganisation these days.

Kind of.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 12 August 2005 12:39 (twenty years ago)

Okay, it looks togeether in Glasgow from a distance... Any good? Oh dear.

Anna (Anna), Friday, 12 August 2005 13:10 (twenty years ago)

hopefully people will have no trouble finding our place tonight.

There are even a couple of folks from glasgow who are turning up! (they thought at first the FAP was at the carnarvon)

ken c (ken c), Friday, 12 August 2005 13:13 (twenty years ago)

There will be quite a few members of the UK Singles Jukebox in attendance. This could be rather fun.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Friday, 12 August 2005 13:50 (twenty years ago)

I wish I could come as I haven't been out dancing in an age. I'm got a hen night to attend, though. Hopefully it should be less traumatic than the last one. I hope it all goes swimmingly for you tonight.

Madeleine (Madeleine), Friday, 12 August 2005 14:12 (twenty years ago)

i've worked out that i only need to get two night buses home. which isn't quite as much of an adventure as i would have liked. but i'll probably be drunk and tired, which does leave open the possibility for adventurous mishaps.

see you tonight, kids!!

michael grant (michael digby grant), Friday, 12 August 2005 14:35 (twenty years ago)

Blimey. What am I going to do for supper? Also, I need to stop at Body Shop and get some perfume because I'm terrified I stink. OK, we will be dancing and sweating, so I'm sure nobody will care, but right now I can smell myself and it bugs me.

Alce Tea-Skirt (kate), Friday, 12 August 2005 14:48 (twenty years ago)

sweat and perfume! you're totally pulling tonight with all that pheromone

ken c (ken c), Friday, 12 August 2005 14:50 (twenty years ago)

Hrmmm. I just typed something and then realised I was being coquettish, which I never am, so I deleted it. Sigh.

Alce Tea-Skirt (kate), Friday, 12 August 2005 14:51 (twenty years ago)

argh I have like another hour's worth of work to do. >_< when I get there youse had all better be DANCING.

spontine (cis), Friday, 12 August 2005 14:54 (twenty years ago)

Nothing is working in our office today - none of the computers or programs (ha ha, which is why I'm posting from the laptop not the Captain Desktop) so we might actually get to leave on time tonight!

Alce Tea-Skirt (kate), Friday, 12 August 2005 14:55 (twenty years ago)

i'm going home in 10 minutes

ken c (ken c), Friday, 12 August 2005 14:55 (twenty years ago)

ken c (ken c), Friday, 12 August 2005 16:04 (twenty years ago)

I want to be back in London! If only my flight had been today instead of yesterday!

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 12 August 2005 16:26 (twenty years ago)

I am very disappointed to say that I won't be there, as I feel fucking awful right now on pretty much every level there is. I hope it's a huge success, even without a very unwell middle-aged bloke in a suit, huge loss as that is.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 12 August 2005 16:58 (twenty years ago)

I'm sorry I missed this, I meant to come, but an unforseen sequence of events led to me being stuck 13.11 miles away (I just measured it in google earth). I'll DEFINITELY see everyone at Poptimism though, promise.

JimD (JimD), Friday, 12 August 2005 23:42 (twenty years ago)

fuck this was good!

sorry you guys missed it :( hope to see you next time. i'll have some special treat waiting for you next time jim.

The Lex (The Lex), Saturday, 13 August 2005 08:33 (twenty years ago)

I was sorry to leave before your set Lex - I will be less tired and more prepared next time. Great stuff and a fine way to come back from holiday!

Cracking.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Saturday, 13 August 2005 09:27 (twenty years ago)

i had a really great time, but jesus, it's a pain to get home from there! (just to continue the transport bit from above)

but ace dancing and fun people, and it was all good fun! even if barima insisted on calling me 'gem' all night...

colette (a2lette), Saturday, 13 August 2005 10:02 (twenty years ago)

ha, we didn't get home til 3am. damn night bus.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Saturday, 13 August 2005 12:31 (twenty years ago)

so FUN! although lord it was hot in thurr.

It took me no time at all to walk home! nyer.

spontine (cis), Saturday, 13 August 2005 12:45 (twenty years ago)

yeah, we got home at two thirty, which is pretty ridiculous. three buses were involved, and quite a lot of walking.

great night - i think i was pretty drunk. sorry to the lex for all the texts, and thanks a ton for playing kelly clarkson.

toby (tsg20), Saturday, 13 August 2005 12:49 (twenty years ago)

I was looking for a picture of Yo-Yo that I could post with the caption "'Don't try to play me out!' - Kelly Clarkson" and stumbled across this (NOT SAFE FOR WORK, OR REALLY ANYTHING):

Yay team.

Negativa, True Believer (Sheryl Crow in a Britney costume) (Barima), Saturday, 13 August 2005 14:19 (twenty years ago)

Lex, what did you do to Nick?

Negativa, True Believer (Sheryl Crow in a Britney costume) (Barima), Saturday, 13 August 2005 14:20 (twenty years ago)

I had a fantastic time, a bit sorry to have to leave just as things were getting going. Still, it was cool to be standing inside Chalk Farm station and still being able to hear Girls Aloud playing from inside the Enterprise.

To those mentalists who made it to Seal afterwards, I apologise wholeheartedly for dancing on the bar. I think I was seven pints down by the time I actually started DJing. Ouch.

(PS - I saw The Lex dancing to the Pixies)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 13 August 2005 14:28 (twenty years ago)

As an aside, this weekend makes it three years since my first London FAP. Looking around the room last night it was pretty cool to see how far things have come on.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 13 August 2005 14:29 (twenty years ago)

Ah ha! Lex danced with me to the Pixies, although he was shocked I knew all the words. Dance on the bar all you want Matthew, I'd have joined you if there had been room. My flat now has electricity!

What excellent photos- it looks like it was really good fun! Dahlin looks very scared that there's a drooling Glaswegian hanging over her shoulder. And who can blame her.

That very first photo is the greatest thing ever though.

NOT NEARLY ENOUGH

The Lex (The Lex), Saturday, 13 August 2005 22:21 (twenty years ago)

haha i looked so camp in that first photo.

Jesus wept.

Raston Robot Warrior (blueski), Sunday, 14 August 2005 13:51 (twenty years ago)

oh dear oh dear oh dear
apparently i was about to ATTACK poor mrs apps
and my hideous pink top was trying to flee
and um.. i should have followed before the camera came out. when did that happen, btw?
thanks for all the sugar, london. me and my random american guest had a lovely time,
speaking of friends, has everyone met michael?

dahlin (dahlin), Sunday, 14 August 2005 16:05 (twenty years ago)

Tie! Jacket! Beach Boys-y striped shirt! iPod mini! Lollipop! Digital watch! Surreptitious v-flicking at the camera! There's nothing I don't love about that picture of WBS! :)

JimD (JimD), Sunday, 14 August 2005 16:13 (twenty years ago)

It is utterly great, isn't it?

speaking of friends, has everyone met michael?

Following your example of friend-pimping, I tried pimping Michael to WBS the other night. They appear to be dancing* together-ish upthread, so it must have worked.

I still love that picture of Barima at the DJ booth best of all.

*when I say "dancing" I mean Michael looks like he's wanking/pooing, and WBS looks like he's trying to levitate. Needless to say, I also love that photo.

Ken, I wish you'd come up with the plan of me staying down and getting a lift up to Glasgow with you afterwards slightly earlier. Like, not two days after the event.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 14 August 2005 22:51 (twenty years ago)

I'm unsure as to who a couple of the people above are! I recognise some of yers... but not others. Captions?

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 15 August 2005 00:48 (twenty years ago)

I'm sorry I was in such a rubbish mood, tired and cranky etc. The music was fantasic, even if I didn't feel like dancing. I suppose I should be relieved there are no photos of me, even if I'm sad that the wonder that was my Liberty Peacock shirt was not documented.

I got home surprisingly easily. Except the pointy-nosed boys from the dancefloor (Barima's former colleagues?) were being shouty and drunk on the N5.

OK, it's true. I have gone invisible. :-(

Alce Tea-Skirt (kate), Monday, 15 August 2005 07:01 (twenty years ago)

Your pimping prowess does appear to have been rewarded ailsa! for they did, in fact, seem to be great mates! i was confused, but delighted.
i didn't dance nearly as much as i expected to, sadly... despite colette's best efforts to drag me around.
next time...

dahlin (dahlin), Monday, 15 August 2005 08:13 (twenty years ago)

I look like I'm on some sort of opiate in that photo.

I did, however, have a really good time.

robster (robster), Monday, 15 August 2005 08:31 (twenty years ago)

Wow! What fantastic pictures, everyone looks gorgeous!

x-post

Robster - I thought you were just having a sneaky nap!

Panther Pink (Pinkpanther), Monday, 15 August 2005 08:33 (twenty years ago)

i hope you're lying pink....
rob, i enjoyed your dancing immensely. put me to shame, it did.
i hope i didn't bore you too much with random glasgow gossip. tho gossip is always good, surely? mmmmm

dahlin (dahlin), Monday, 15 August 2005 08:41 (twenty years ago)

I still love that picture of Barima at the DJ booth best of all.

Flattery gets you everywhere, my dear.

Er, what do you want me to say here?

Panther Pink (Pinkpanther), Monday, 15 August 2005 08:56 (twenty years ago)

I wish certain people didn't look so good. :-(

Mrs. Cranky (From Crankytown) (kate), Monday, 15 August 2005 08:59 (twenty years ago)

why am i being pimped around this message board like a piece of meat?!?! i feel cheap and dirty. it's an odd, but not entirely unpleasant, feeling. hmm. actually, i think i kinda like it. pimp me some more ladies. go right ahead.

michael grant (michael digby grant), Monday, 15 August 2005 09:03 (twenty years ago)

I wish certain people didn't look so good. :-(

I think Mark C did make you all look bad.

BARMS, Monday, 15 August 2005 09:46 (twenty years ago)

i like being a pimp. maybe i should consider a career change
speaking of which... any word yet anna?
i think i might have to go to a record shop on the way to work. there are a few albums that require purchasing. retail therapy.. and music. great combo! and doesn't require undressing, which is such a bonus.
shoes would be nice too.... hmmmm

dahlin (dahlin), Monday, 15 August 2005 09:55 (twenty years ago)

Barms being the total dapper as usual!

Panther Pink (Pinkpanther), Monday, 15 August 2005 09:56 (twenty years ago)

hahaha barima i thought you said

I think Mark C did make you all look baLd.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 15 August 2005 10:43 (twenty years ago)

and kate you totally weren't invisible as we were having great chats in various moments at the place! I don't think I was dancing until much later in the evening when newky b. got the better of me and i got sick of trying to stop the freeloaders from coming in (i am going to buy a stamp for the next one, i think).

ken c (ken c), Monday, 15 August 2005 11:12 (twenty years ago)

Like I said, please can I be the cross and cankerous door bitch with the clipboard? Perhaps it will be good to have somewhere to focus all of my aggression - i.e. doorcharge skiving lumpenproletariat with bad hats!

Mrs. Cranky (From Crankytown) (kate), Monday, 15 August 2005 11:13 (twenty years ago)

Hi, Pink.

Kate, you can be the cantankerous door bitch anytime you like, as far as I'm concerned. Mind you, Iliked the freeloaders because they both complimented me and danced. Flattery, people.

BARMS, Monday, 15 August 2005 11:21 (twenty years ago)

I don't think I met Michael, did I?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 15 August 2005 11:23 (twenty years ago)

yeah. and the orgypeople in the ladies toilet :(

xpost

ken c (ken c), Monday, 15 August 2005 11:27 (twenty years ago)

You kept that orgy quiet.

BARMS, Monday, 15 August 2005 11:29 (twenty years ago)

it wasn't flattering

ken c (ken c), Monday, 15 August 2005 11:33 (twenty years ago)

I wished you'd WARNED me what I might be in for before I flung open the door. :-(

Mrs. Cranky (From Crankytown) (kate), Monday, 15 August 2005 11:37 (twenty years ago)

explanation please! i appear to have missed the scandal of the evening. (other than me taking a shit while wanking on the dancefloor, if ailsa is to be belived. which she isn't. ever.)

michael grant (michael digby grant), Monday, 15 August 2005 11:47 (twenty years ago)

(Actually, it stands more to reason that they were taking drugs in the ladies' loo, rather than orgying. But the orgy makes a better story.)

Mrs. Cranky (From Crankytown) (kate), Monday, 15 August 2005 11:50 (twenty years ago)

I have numerous random text messages in my phone now by the way, all saying variants on the word "INDIE"...all were received during my first song, those noted indie girls En Vogue.

Barima it was lovely to take your friend home on Friday night. He's excellent!

The Lex (The Lex), Monday, 15 August 2005 12:19 (twenty years ago)

good thing you didn't play 'Free Your Mind' - all those geetaws!

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Monday, 15 August 2005 12:21 (twenty years ago)

Alex wuvs Nick, Alex wuvs Nick.

BARMS, Monday, 15 August 2005 12:33 (twenty years ago)

i wonder what he was excellent at

ken c (ken c), Monday, 15 August 2005 12:36 (twenty years ago)

They were both up til 4am listening to Go-Betweens b-sides.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Monday, 15 August 2005 12:38 (twenty years ago)

is that what they told you?

ken c (ken c), Monday, 15 August 2005 12:40 (twenty years ago)

4am? Neither of us got any sleep until at least 5.30am.

The Lex (The Lex), Monday, 15 August 2005 12:47 (twenty years ago)

The 2 Hidden Cameras albums last that long?

BARMS, Monday, 15 August 2005 13:11 (twenty years ago)

matt dc said -" I don't think I met Michael, did I?"

i have NO IDEA WHO YOU ARE!! so maybe. maybe not. it's all a big mystery. i think if i go to poptimism on friday i should wear a tshirt that says 'i am michael. be my friend'. or i could get someone else to wear it. prolong the mystery.

michael grant (michael digby grant), Monday, 15 August 2005 13:13 (twenty years ago)

I don't think anything's been said about Magnus, Robot FightDancer yet.

GANGSTA

BARMS, Monday, 15 August 2005 13:25 (twenty years ago)

::throws self out window::

Mrs. Cranky (From Crankytown) (kate), Monday, 15 August 2005 13:27 (twenty years ago)

I thought you did that on Friday after looking for you at the same time I realised the windows were shut. This also resulted in my Nando's prediction coming true.

BARMS, Monday, 15 August 2005 13:34 (twenty years ago)

Just forget it. I wish I had, in a way. Never mind. Sorry.

Mrs. Cranky (From Crankytown) (kate), Monday, 15 August 2005 13:43 (twenty years ago)

So when's the next one? I am worried I will miss it due to awayness.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Monday, 15 August 2005 13:53 (twenty years ago)

October. I have an indie set planned.

BARMS, Monday, 15 August 2005 13:55 (twenty years ago)

i'm playing 14 belle and sebastian songs back to back.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 15 August 2005 14:40 (twenty years ago)

Interesting sales technique you have.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Monday, 15 August 2005 14:43 (twenty years ago)

it's all just lies to get martin skidmore to come.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 15 August 2005 14:44 (twenty years ago)

You have odd ideas about how to make anyone come, Ken. Did you mean as in turn up, or orgasm? B&S is the worst way, for both.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 15 August 2005 16:17 (twenty years ago)

And just when Ken was thinking himself attractive too, Martin.

BARMS, Monday, 15 August 2005 16:20 (twenty years ago)

flattery will get you anywhere barms

ken c (ken c), Monday, 15 August 2005 16:21 (twenty years ago)

Well obviously Ken is gorgeous, but you'd have to be even more attractive than Ken, if such can be imagined, to get away with playing nothing but dismal indie records.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 15 August 2005 16:22 (twenty years ago)

that's no way to talk about your favourite band martin

ken c (ken c), Monday, 15 August 2005 16:23 (twenty years ago)

Oh I am jealous! It looks like a fantastic time and I haven't been dancing in a dog's age. It's shades of Bowlie-style fellowship, shades of every good indie night ever. Of especial note are all the good shirts/tops on display, Mr Nonchalant Afro at the booth, Carsmile (Steve, you don't look a single bit different than you did when we met years ago -- was Meg there, too?), and, Marianna, who's the feline-faced brunette at your side? She's adorable. Overall, my cockles are appropriately warmed.

Laurel, Monday, 15 August 2005 16:29 (twenty years ago)

i'm loving the indie reputation that this night is receiving!

ken c (ken c), Monday, 15 August 2005 16:31 (twenty years ago)

especially since it WASN'T INDIE AT ALL!
i feel cheated

dahlin (dahlin), Monday, 15 August 2005 16:34 (twenty years ago)

Ach well, maybe I'm transferring my desire for a decent indie night onto your oh-so-indie-looking photographic selves. I have a girlfriend who should, by rights, throw fantastic indie dances but who actually prefers top 40 teen hits and hip-hop and I am always so disappointed that I resolve not to go to her parties any more. But then I do.

Laurel, Monday, 15 August 2005 16:40 (twenty years ago)

Mr Nonchalant Afro at the booth

HI DERE (but for "nonchalant", read "a bit distant").

"Feline Face" goes by the name of Disco Dave Katey.

BARMS, Monday, 15 August 2005 16:40 (twenty years ago)

Actually, Laurel, some of the mooted names in my next set include Blur, Neil & Iraiza, Soulwax, Junior Senior, Fighstar, The Smiths, The Killers, Yellowcard, The Sunshine Underground and that indie-rock single by Mousse T.

BARMS, Monday, 15 August 2005 16:43 (twenty years ago)

Someone (Ken C?) played Delays and The Aisler Set.

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo indie.

Mrs. Cranky (From Crankytown) (kate), Monday, 15 August 2005 16:48 (twenty years ago)

ooohh yes that was the pre-dancing part of the night (and thus most enjoyable bit of all for music)! 8:15-8:45 is where it's at

ken c (ken c), Monday, 15 August 2005 16:50 (twenty years ago)

Were it not for the wanting to throw myself out the window, that would have been the best bit for me. ;-)

Mrs. Cranky (From Crankytown) (kate), Monday, 15 August 2005 16:56 (twenty years ago)

well i almost jumped with you so there you go!

ken c (ken c), Monday, 15 August 2005 16:58 (twenty years ago)

Barmia, does mooted = "already ruled out"? Or as in, "it's a moot point, OBV I will play them"?

Laurel, Monday, 15 August 2005 17:02 (twenty years ago)

Barima, does mooted = "already ruled out"? Or as in, "it's a moot point, OBV I will play them"?

(I may not have stopped this in time to avoid double-posting. To save you all the trouble, it's because i typoed as "Barmia". Sorry!

Laurel, Monday, 15 August 2005 17:03 (twenty years ago)

Oh, I'm definitely going with the latter.

BARMS, Monday, 15 August 2005 17:08 (twenty years ago)

haha, Ken thinks calling someone a B&S fan is an insult!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 15 August 2005 17:13 (twenty years ago)

aw i didn't mean to insult you!!

ken c (ken c), Monday, 15 August 2005 17:27 (twenty years ago)

i think they're great actually so it's quite alright for you to be a fan

ken c (ken c), Monday, 15 August 2005 17:28 (twenty years ago)

Laurel - yes that's Katey of 'Marianna, you and I are starting a club' fame. She's my partner in crime whenever dancing, cute-boy stalking or bitchfest sessions are in order. Which is most days.

As for the next Forget About The Sugar - we really want to have one in October but are currently having a CRISIS about the venue. As in, we need to find a new one, pronto.

marianna lcl (marianna lcl), Monday, 15 August 2005 18:14 (twenty years ago)

aww, i liked that venue a lot - why can't you stay there? excellent wobbly dancefloor thrills.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Monday, 15 August 2005 20:02 (twenty years ago)

only problem was the heat towards the end - but then again in october it won't even be so hot

ken c (ken c), Monday, 15 August 2005 20:42 (twenty years ago)

It's not to do with the heat, it's to do with the fact that every Friday and Saturday night from now until the end of time has been booked by a comedy troupe. :(

marianna lcl (marianna lcl), Monday, 15 August 2005 21:02 (twenty years ago)

But I thought you didn't get it booked!

Ba-dum tish, thank you, I'll be here all week.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 15 August 2005 21:08 (twenty years ago)

Ow. OW! My sides.

marianna lcl (marianna lcl), Monday, 15 August 2005 21:09 (twenty years ago)

so we'll be seeing you on saturdays then ailsa?

ken c (ken c), Monday, 15 August 2005 21:14 (twenty years ago)

OH FUCK.

everyone has aibds, Monday, 15 August 2005 22:30 (twenty years ago)

you could probably arrange something with smersh... or is that too small

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 11:32 (twenty years ago)

I love, love, love smersh. But I don't think it would work as a venue for us :(

marianna lcl (marianna lcl), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 19:15 (twenty years ago)

Last night the non-attending Shimuras were all "Ohmigod, it looked like such fun, we wanna go, we wanna goooooo!" and the Shimuras In Attendendce were all "ha ha, suckers!"

Anyway, yes, do it again, and they promise that we will all turn up. :-)

Mrs. Cranky (From Crankytown) (kate), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 06:37 (twenty years ago)

Ha!

If Barima and I are going to dance for you, you have to dance for us too.

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 09:02 (twenty years ago)

We were actually discussing your mad dancing skillz last night. ;-)

Win A Lie-Down, Mrs. Davies (kate), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 09:03 (twenty years ago)

(Our manager asked us "so, what exactly do you want!" so we all started shouting "Sex! groupies! drugs! dancing boys!!!!" So, erm, one out of four ain't bad...)

Win A Lie-Down, Mrs. Davies (kate), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 09:04 (twenty years ago)

There's a chance we'll have to move it to a Thursday. Would y'all come if it was on a Thursday?

marianna lcl (marianna lcl), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 11:28 (twenty years ago)

Yes! Thursdays are better, less chance of double bookings.

JimD (JimD), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 11:30 (twenty years ago)

I wouldn't be able to make it :(

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 11:31 (twenty years ago)

Thursdays are the new Fridays!

robster (robster), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 11:32 (twenty years ago)

:( I WANT MATT DC TO BE ABLE TO COME!

marianna lcl (marianna lcl), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 11:33 (twenty years ago)

Make it Monday - you guys could totally take Trash on.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 11:36 (twenty years ago)

I hate that photo of me. Mark looks all dashing and I look like I should be selling cheese by the roadside in Norwich.

I had a great time BTW. Sugar not forgotten.

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 13:30 (twenty years ago)

Well, it's over 100 posts ago, so most people can't even see it unless you remind them of it.

PS: you're crazy, you look great as per. Perhaps a little exerted. Had there been dancing in the vicinity?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 14:03 (twenty years ago)

Dashing? Maybe if you mean "dashing to the plastic surgeon for a face-lift and an eye-tuck" (but thanks!)

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 14:11 (twenty years ago)

Anna and Mark, I call bullshit on all this bashful talk. Bullshit has just called back to say you two have the sexiest photo on the thread. And that he supposes Thursday Sugars would be OK.

BARMS, Wednesday, 17 August 2005 16:51 (twenty years ago)

Dude, I told you to keep hush about the sexy part!

bullshit (nabisco), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 17:10 (twenty years ago)

It's cool, man, Mark's anybody's after 2 drinks.

BARMS, Wednesday, 17 August 2005 17:27 (twenty years ago)
