As for image size: it's file size that determines how long it takes to dosnload, which is the issue that can upset people, much more than how big it looks on screen - you should be able to make choices about size and image quality in most any image editor.

Wiggy, I'm not sure how MS picture it works, however you should convert it to 72 DPI. You should be able to select an option "Actual Pixels" or something like that. If it says the scaling is 100%, thats fine. Now if it looks about the right size on your monitor, then it's good to go. Save and upload.

Wiggy, Kate's right, though most picture programs won't know boo about 72dpi vs 300dpi, except PhotoShop. You'll probably be looking at the pixel count, and anywhere between 400 and 600 pixels wide should be fine for these threads. That would put it about halfway between rainy's and your original post.

Machoest picture ever!

Wiggy, when I was on slow dialup I didn't care how big a pic looked, I cared whether it took a long time to load, which is about file size, not image size. On my website I try to stick under 100K for images, and often it's easy to be under 50k. Go with JPEGs, is my recommendation.

wiggy, if you go into photobucket and click "edit" over the specified picture it gives you the option to reduce the picture by 25, 50 or 75%. it looks just fine as it is though.

I like this monthly what do you look like thread cuz it helps me get an idea of who's who on the board; although you all switch names so often I sometimes am hopelessly confused by it all. (It's odd, though, my hair is quite dark (for me) and close to natural at the moment so it's a bit odd to still be thought of as blonde.)

I can never keep up with Dare's changing haircolour, though, Jeremy. I'm trying to remember what her natural colour is, as I haven't seen it since ... blimey, I don't know that I ever have, but I've seen pictures of her as a little girl and it was auburn I seem to recall.

Dare is my childhood friend (well, not really childhood I guess, but teenage years) - we grew up together, taught each other to play guitar and have been in loads of bands together. She moved to Detroit about 10 years ago, played/plays in various cool bands there, and now she works for The Stooges as part of their road crew. Whenever she comes to England, we hang out and cause chaos. Just this time we got to do it on a bit of a larger scale. ;-)

Well, fugly is maybe a big word, though not far from how I feel when I look at myself in the mirror. :-) In pictures I always appear to be a lightbulb. I should change my haircolour once, only to see if it's better than these blonde locks. I also shouldn't put it in a ponytail because it enhances the lightbulb effect. :-)

If my hair is dirty or I'm indoors it often looks darker, but I had proper highlights put in at the front a few months ago.

i've seen variations of the frozen peas thing

1. a bag of it wrapped around a bottle.
2. put frozen peas in a small plastic bag and dip it in like a teabag.

I've never seen this loose peas version... it looks kind of like as if it'd fill teh drink up with peaness. not good

Rushes is scheduled again at noon, 5pm, 9pm and 11:30pm (or if you're not near a TV, watch it online at http://www.rogerstelevision.com/option.asp?lid=16&rid=16&tid=12816), but whether it'll be the same Rushes or not (I think they do a new one every day) is another question... You can always get a copy of the segment from Rogers Television directly: call 416-446-7175 and tell 'em you want the Rushes from 15 September. You'll have to pay the ratbags, though. I know people in the Ottawa Rogers master control, but not the Toronto one, unfortunately, or I'd get you a free copy... Hope you catch it!

slock1 - just a plain old Canon Powershot, A70 I think? The trick is to use flash + long exposure, wait for the flash to go off, then move. It's so much fun.
